War in Glendale, Arizona on Friday night! Emanuel Navarrete stopped Liam Wilson in a great fight. Nice visuals here - Wilson wore white and blue trunks (with a few too many ads), black asics shoes and red Grant gloves; Navarrete wore purple and white trunks (also too many ads), purple Rival gloves and white Nikes (with oddly prominent red rubber soles).

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Well, that was quite the encore. On the day Ukraine's Oleksandr Usrk captured the undisputed heavyweight title, his countryman, Denys Berinchyk, stunned the boxing world. Berinchyk defeated Emanuel Navarrete by a split decision to win the vacant WBO lightweight world title Saturday evening at Pechanga Arena in San Diego. Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) prevailed by scores of 116-112 and 115-113, while Navarrete won on the third card, 116-112. Navarrete (38-2-1, 31 KOs) failed in his attempt to become the sixth four-division, Mexican-born world champion. Navarrete began as usual by launching forward with wild shots, often leading with uppercuts or left hooks from the outside. Berinchyk responded by using his footwork to find his distance and pepper the Mexican with quick counterpunches. Berinchyk's offense didn't hurt Navarrete, but they were enough to prevent him from implementing a sustained body attack in the early rounds. Urged by his corner, Navarrete upped his offense in the last half of the fight, but the 36-year-old Olympian continued to make him miss before connecting with compact, effective punches. “This is great, my friend. This is great. Great boxing," Berinchyk said. "Great fight. Navarrete, muchas gracias.” Navarrete said, “It was something new for me. Like I always said, it would be difficult. Denys is a great fighter. He made me struggle a lot. And you saw what happened. But I’m happy with how I fought. I know that I need to improve. “I’m not sad. I know it was a test. I needed to do more, but I know that I can do more. So, I congratulate him on his win. I’m happy because I tried things out at 135 pounds, and I know I will be strong at this division.” Brian's Song Brian Norman Jr. (26-0, 20 KOs) captured the WBO Interim welterweight world title with a 10th-round knockout over hometown favorite Giovani Santillan (32-1, 17 KOs). Santillan was the aggressor, but Norman’s quick counters and clinching nullified his offense. Santillan tried to make the most of it by punching inside the clinch, but this provided the openings for Norman to counter. In the eighth, Norman hurt Santillan with a left hook. This changed the tide decisively to Norman’s favor, as he rallied with combinations in the following stanza. In the 10th, Norman landed a counter uppercut that dropped Santillan, who rose off the deck to be dropped by another, more devastating uppercut that floored him and ended the fight. Norman was ahead on all three scorecards, 89-82, 88-83 and 86-85. Norman said, “He was pressing but not hitting s**t. I made him miss and made him pay. I like going to other people’s hometowns and taking what they have. Whoever they have next for me, I’m ready for the challenge."
Torrez Flattens Moore in 5 U.S. Olympic silver medalist Richard Torrez (10-0, 10 KOs) faces his stiffest test to date and passed with flying colors. The 24-year-old southpaw heavyweight scored a fifth-round TKO win against the previously unbeaten Brandon Moore (14-1, 8 KOs). After an early feeling-out process, Torrez began to connect with jabs to the body before unloading his straight left. Moore tried to prevent his forward attack with footwork and a stiff jab, but Torrez often countered with a right hook and found his way in. After dropping him early in the fifth, Torrez began to pummel Moore, forcing referee Thomas Taylor to halt the contest at 1:39. Torrez said, “I give Moore a lot of respect. Anyone who goes toe-to-toe like that deserves my respect. I expected a lot from him, but I followed the game plan and got the job done. He took some really good shots, but at the end of the day, you can only take so much."
Junior Welterweight: Emiliano Fernando Vargas (10-0, 8 KOs) battered Angel Varela (10-3, 7 KOs) en route to a sixth-round stoppage. Vargas was much quicker, countering frequently and switching to southpaw to land even more offense. After too many unanswered shots from the 20-year-old phenom, referee Ray Corona halted the bout at 1:01. Lightweight: Team USA standout Jonny Mansour (1-0) made a successful pro debut by outpointing Anel Dudo (3-6-1) across four rounds of action. The San Diego native won with three scores of 40-36. Junior Welterweight: Alan "Kid Kansas" Garcia (13-0, 11 KOs) earned an eight-round points win over Wilfredo Flores (10-3-1, 5 KOs). Scores: 80-72 3x. Junior Lightweight: Jonathan Lopez (15-0, 11 KOs) notched an eighth-round TKO win over Edgar Ortega (14-3-2, 7 KOs). The time of the stoppage was 2:39.
Welterweight: Art Barrera Jr. (5-0, 4 KOs) went the four-round distance for the first time in his pro career, defeating Levy Garcia Benitez (3-2-1, 2 KOs) via unanimous decision. Scores: 40-35 3x.

#whatshot #djblaze #onthewatch It's All About @emanuel_vaquero_navarrete @liamjwilson22 #navarretewilson #fightnight #boxing🔥👆🏿🥊 Blaze- It was a very intriguing bout where the highly favourite Navarrete got tested early and probably underestimated his opponent when he got dropped and hurt badly in the fourth round but still managed to survive the onslaught coming at him. With a strong fourth decisive round in the bank for Liam, his confidence grew from that point on but was still unable to capitalize fully as the rounds progressed. Navarrete definitely stepped his game up but still left himself quite open to some unnecessary shots due to his awkward style. Navarrete’s lack of respect for defense was quite apparent but his high-volume offense and power shots undeniably make up for it as he usually overwhelms his opponents into submission. As the rounds progressed both combatants exchanged good shots but it was Navarrete who seemed to take control in the later rounds. By the ninth round the inevitable occurred when Navarrete decided to put his punches together and chased down Wilson with a detonating right hand to the dome that dropped a badly hurt Liam for an 8 count that saw him rise up to his feet only to succumb to a barrage of unanswered punches from head to body pinned on the ropes and forcing the referee to put a stop to the bout. It was a tougher bout then expected for Navarrete who got tested on the night but his higher work rate throughout the bout got the job done in a convincing fashion. With this win Navarrete became a Three Division World Champion and the new WBO Super Featherweight Champion of the World. Being that Emanuel is also the WBC Featherweight Champion and now WBO Super Featherweight Champion, he will have 10 days to inform the WBO sanctioning body of which Division he will be campaigning at as Champion in the future. 🔥👆🏿🥊 Read Write Up Here 👉🏿Blazinone.com #boxingnews #soundtrackoftheday #hiphop #rnb For all the #boxing #basketball #cigar #smokers #music heads www.blazinone.com🔥👆🏿🎶 https://www.instagram.com/p/CoSRKseOtj-/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

We just had a historically great week in boxing and while there are some big names fighting in upcoming weeks, I feel there is a lack of “big names” in compelling fights
That said, if you’re hungry for another high level compelling bout I suggest tuning in for Emanuel Navarrete vs Oscar Valdez on August 12. That one should be a BANGER of a fight.

Phoenix, Arizona – Emanuel Navarrete (39-2-1, 32 KOs) and Rafael Espinoza (26-0, 22 KOs) successfully defended their titles in a night of rematches in which both fighters performed better than the original. Navarrete decisively defeated Oscar Valdez (32-3, 24 KOs), dropping him three times in six rounds. Connecting a devasting body shot in the 6th round that sent Valdez to the canvas and out for the full ten count. Espinoza and Robeisy Ramirez (14-3, 9 KOs) boxed for six rounds in what was a tight contest. In the 6th round, Ramirez signaled to the ref he couldn’t continue due to his right eye bothering him. Upon medical evaluation, it was discovered Ramirez suffered a broken orbital bone. Debatably, both boxers claim the injury was caused by a punch or an elbow, with Ramirez claiming the latter. After the fight, Ramirez said, “He got me with his elbow twice in the fourth round. That’s when I started to see double. I told the referee. He did his job. He scolded him, but the damage had been done already.” In post-fight interviews, Espinoza stated he felt the injury was the result of a punch and not an elbow. He feels Ramirez was being overwhelmed with his pressure and power. There was small difference in total punches landed with Espinoza landing 58 to Ramirez’s 53 (Compubox). It was a much more technical match than the first as exchanges were much more limited. Espinoza was able to connect the jab at distance as he applied pressure. Navarrete stated in post-fight interviews that he intends to explore his options for future bouts. Whether that means staying at 130 or 135, he will lean on the decision that is best for him, as, according to him, he’s reached the second stage of his career. A stage whereby he intends to be the best version of himself and seek the best fights. Navarrete, in the past, has struggled with making weight and poor conditioning. In the rematch against Valdez, we saw what Navarrete can do when he’s at his best. He also recovered from a left-hand injury that allowed him to land harder punches. Navarrete commended Valdez for his warrior spirit and feels he still has a lot to offer. As to what’s next for Valdez remains to be seen as the 33-year-old suffered his third loss of his career. One to Shakur Stevenson and two to Navarrete. As for Espinoza, he did not clearly state that he would up a division to 130. When asked if he intends to stay at 126 or move up to 130, as previously reported. He said, “Really, I don’t know. I am going to sit down and talk to my people. I feel good at 126, but we’ll see what they say.” Espinoza and Navarrete embraced each other backstage and posed for pictures together. They were very cordial and friendly to each other. Navarrete stated after their brief encounter, there was genuine respect between the two, and Espinoza congratulated him on his victory and invited him to his home. Espinoza also expressed an interest to Navarrete in possibly challenging him for his championship. A potential matchup between Navarrete and Espinoza would set up a great match between two Mexican warriors who like to put on a show. Espinoza wants to be considered one of the best in the sport, and facing Navarrete would give him the memorable matchup he seeks, earning him the respect, admiration, and love from the public. GLENDALE, Ariz. — Emanuel Navarrete (38-1, 31 KOs) wanted an all-Mexican war to take his career to new heights, and that’s exactly what he got. Navarrete defended his WBO junior lightweight world title via unanimous decision in a back-and-forth slugfest against Oscar Valdez (31-2, 23 KOs) Saturday evening in front of 10,246 fans at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Navarrete’s reach and punch output were difficult puzzles for Valdez to solve. The 32-year-old native of Nogales, Mexico, tried to find openings for counterpunches from his high guard stance, using his head and feet to avoid Navarrete’s sudden bursts of combos. But as the rounds progressed, Navarrete’s power made a difference as his left uppercuts and hooks caused swelling below Valdez’s right eye. In the fifth and sixth rounds, Valdez started to connect with counter left hooks. In the 10th, a war broke out in the center of the ring, with both fighters exchanging to win the final rounds. Navarrete, however, kept control of the fight in the championship rounds and retained his title with scores of of 116-112, 118-110, and 119-109. Navarrete said, “I feel happy to have been part of this card and of this next great chapter of Mexican boxing history. I am happy and appreciate Oscar for the great fight that we delivered. “There was some inflammation in my right hand. And the more I used it, the more it hurt. But I had to overcome it. “I think the people can best talk about what they saw. They saw the fight tonight. I was here fighting with Valdez. And I feel good. Thank God, I won. I appreciate what he did in the ring. He is a Mexican warrior. If the people want a rematch, they will demand it.” Valdez said, “He is a warrior. I tried my best. We gave it our best. He is a warrior. He is a true champion. I’m sorry I disappointed everyone. I feel terrible. I wanted to give you all a great fight. I hope you enjoyed the fight. I hope to return strong.” Lindolfo Delgado Cruises Past Jair Valtierra Rising junior welterweight contender Lindolfo Delgado (18-0, 13 KOs) scored a one-sided 10-round unanimous decision victory against Jair Valtierra (16-3, 8 KOs) in tonight’s co-feature.
Both boxed cautiously and evaded combinations with head movement and footwork. However, Delgado was move active with his output, landing combinations as well as counter hooks to the body. Delgado remained undefeated with scores of 98-92 and 99-91 2x. Richard Torrez Jr. Tallies First-Round KO U.S. Olympic silver medalist Richard Torrez Jr. (6-0, 6 KOs) needed less than one round to knock out Willie Jake Jr. (11-4-2, 3 KOs) in tonight’s televised opener. Jake lunged forward with wide shots, but Torrez was able to time his counterattack and land a right hook that sent Jake face-first to the canvas. Jake rose to his feet, but the damage had been done. Torrez swarmed him with heavy shots, and referee Robert Hoyle stopped the contest at 1:22. Torrez said, “It’s great to be back in the ring after so much time off. There are still things we need to work on, and I know that. We’re going back to the gym tomorrow. “It’s up to my team to decide when my next fight is. They tell me to jump, and I say, ‘How high?’ I’m just excited to follow the process.” Lightweight: Emiliano Fernando Vargas (6-0, 5 KOs) defeated Jorge Luis Marquez Alvarado (3-6-1, 2 KOs) via second-round TKO. Alvarado lunged towards Vargas, who responded with left hooks. After finding his rhythm, Vargas began teeing off on Alvarado, dropping him twice before finishing the bout. Time of stoppage: 2:17. Heavyweight: Southpaw Antonio Mireles (8-0, 7 KOs) scored a hard-earned sixth-round stoppage victory against Dajuan Calloway (7-3, 7 KOs). After an impressive start from Calloway, Mireles began to take control of the fight with his jab. In the sixth, a prolonged assault from Mireles forced referee Wes Melton to stop the fight. Time of stoppage: 1:38. Middleweight: In an all-Phoenix battle, Sergio Rodriguez (8-0-1, 7 KOs) blasted out Eduardo Ayala (9-4-1, 3 KOs) via second-round knockout. Rodriguez landed an overhand right that sent Ayala to the canvas. Ayala rose to his feet on wobbly legs, but a quick flurry from Rodriguez forced the referee to end the contest. Time of stoppage: 1:02. Junior Welterweight: Southern California product Ricardo Ruvalcaba (10-0-1, 9 KOs) defeated Adrian Orban (6-4, 4 KOs) via second-round TKO.
