Dean Obeidallah at The Dean's Report:
A mother and her two young children playing in a pool on a hot day in a suburb of Dallas should be a time for fun and merriment. And it was, that is until 42-year-old Elizabeth Wolf, a white woman from the area, saw that the mother was wearing a hijab and the children were Brown. At that point, Wolf questioned the mother about where she was from and made statements about her not being American, as well as “other racial statements.”
A visibly angry Wolf then grabbed the 6-year-old boy, causing a scratch on his finger as he pulled away. At that point—as the police reported--“The mother began helping her son when Wolf grabbed her 3-year-old daughter and forced her underwater.”  The mother “was able to pull her daughter from the water. Her daughter had been yelling for help and was coughing up water.”  That is when “Wolf also snatched the mother’s headscarf off and beat her with it,” as the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) reported. A witness, Emma Aziz, who was at the pool that same day with her 7-year-old was interviewed by local Fox affiliate said she heard the mother screaming as she watched Wolf plunge the 3 year-old child’s head underwater. Aziz recalled the mother saying, “Help me! She’s killing my baby, she’s killing my baby!'” The attack ended--as the mother identified only as Mrs. H explained--when an African American man helped rescue her daughter from the attacker and more people gathered. The attacker reportedly shouted to a bystander who was calming the mother down, “Tell her I will kill her, and I will kill her whole family.”
In a statement shared by CAIR, the mother “Mrs. H” said, “We are American citizens, originally from Palestine, and I don’t know where to go to feel safe with my kids,” adding that amid Israel’s war in Gaza, she and her family were “facing that hate here.” This is what a hate crime looks like. People attacked simply because of their race, religion or ethnicity.  If the family in the pool were white, this doesn’t happen. Period. The Euless Police Department –where the attack took place—did promptly arrest Wolf that day but for public intoxication. Four days later, though, on May 23, the Tarrant County criminal district attorney’s did file charges of attempted capital murder and injury to a child against Wolf.
However, despite Wolf’s actions clearly being fueled by bigotry—as evidenced from her comments-- she was not formally charged with a hate crime. That is why this past Saturday, the Dallas chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) held a press conference demanding the DA also charge with hate crimes. CAIR leaders also called for Wolf’s bail—that was set at only $40,000—to be raised given the seriousness of the crimes.
[...] The attack by Wolf on the Palestinian mother and her children reminds us of the barbaric incident last October in the suburbs of Chicago. That is when 6-year-old Muslim American child Wadea Al-Fayoume was killed by an older white man who had spewed anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian hate before stabbing the child to death—and stabbing his mother as well. As the killer’s wife told the police after the arrest, he "listens to conservative talk radio on a regular basis" and became obsessed with the war between Hamas and Israel. The killer was charged with hate crimes in addition to murder and attempted murder.
And in November, three Palestinian-American college students were walking on the streets of Vermont while wearing keffiyehs and speaking Arabic when Jason Eaton, 48, came down the porch of a home, pulled out a pistol and shot them.  Eaton said nothing before shooting the three. While Eaton was charged with three counts of attempted murder, despite demands by the community, he was not charged with hate crimes. Obviously, Eaton—like Wolf—targeted these three because of who they were. In the case of Wolf’s attack on the Palestinian children and mother, the public pressure appears to be having the impact demanded.  In other cases, though, the public pressure may not always result in the desired outcome but at least it still raises awareness about the issues.
Elizabeth Wolf drowned a mother and her two kids in an Euless, Texas public pool based on the fact they were Palestinian Muslims.
This hate crime being perpetrated is part of a long line of American anti-Palestinian/anti-Muslim bigotry.

Texas woman arrested, accused of trying to drown 3-year-old Palestinian Muslim child in possible hate crime
Absolutely disgusting.
While not many details about this psychopath have been revealed yet, there's a pretty good chance she was blaming that toddler for the Hamas leaders that her family likely fled from.

Wedding Daze (Pt. 1)
Bambi!Wanda x Reader
Tumblr media
Why did you and Wanda agree to a one week engagement period? The planning. The venue. The cakes. You could laugh or you could cry.
Luckily all of your friends and family were close by anyway. So it wasn’t a problem with travel or time for you and your amazing doe Wanda.
You and Wanda spent the days leading up to your nuptials finalizing everything. Natasha, your wolf hybrid pal, took the maid of honor duty extremely serious. Well except she also had recently spent a lot of time with your future in law Pietro.
The wedding was less than three days away. You had just finalized a deal with a charity, a media marketing push with Tony, and then picked up the cake with the boys.
You were about to go into your office when Pietro ran up and took a hold of you.
“Listen bratok,” he said so slick and cool, “tonight is the infamous ritual for both parties.”
“The bachelor/bachelorette parties? Piet no stag clubs!”
“Done,” he huffed, “Nattie told me I couldn’t do that. Besides it’s just you, me and the boys”
Billy and Tommy came running up to you excited as could be. “Guys night!!!” They shouted excitedly.
You gave a chuckle and shake of your head.
What you didn’t notice was Wanda, peering out of her own office. She loved that the guys in her life got along so well. And then Natasha came running up and took a hold of her, “come on bride to be”
“Where are we going?”
“To a little night on the town for just us!” The wolf pal responded before letting out a playful little howl.
Wanda, Natasha and Yelena went out to a local karaoke bar. Yelena brought her best friend and Labrador hybrid Kate Bishop with her. Wanda found herself having a blast. Singing along to old karaoke songs and getting a little drunk with friends old and new was amazing to her.
“You have no idea how free I feel right now!” Wanda giggles as she settles down in a booth with her gal pals.
“I think we got an idea, Bambi” Natasha giggles, taking another sip of her drink.
“I think we all know how Natasha feels free” Yelena giggles.
“Shut up, sestra!” Natasha retorts.
“What are Wanda and I missing here?” Kate asks with a drunken giggle.
Yelena smirks, “I saw Pietro sneaking out of her den the last few nights”
Wanda shrieks a little, maybe it was the alcohol or the fact that her best friend was hooking up with her brother.
“What?! Are you kidding me?!” Wanda asks, lightly punching her wolf pal in the arm.
“He treats me right” Natasha gives a little wink.
“Trust me. I can tell” Yelena snorts.
Meanwhile across town, you and Pietro decided to have your stag party at the local bowling alley. Billy and Tommy were having a blast.
“I would’ve hired you a dancer,” Pietro admits, “but you got kids now”
“I’d rather go bowling with you and my boys anyway” you smile.
“Your boys.” Pietro smiles, “I like the sound of that.” He takes a sip of his drink, “thank you for being their poppa”
You give your boys a kiss on their antlers, “that’s my privilege.”
Pietro chuckles, “Wanda chose well”
You give your brother in law a gentle smile. Yeah you considered yourself so blessed that out of all the people in the entire world, Wanda chose you.
The night was beginning to wind down as you got Pietro back to his condo on the sanctuary grounds and got the boys to bed in the comfort of your home.
You couldn’t help but think that in less than twenty four hours you’d be marrying the doe of your dreams. The one who gave you strength to keep going as much as you encouraged her to do the same. Where was your doe anyway?
Your question was answered a second later as you heard your door open. Natasha carried a tipsy Wanda in.
“Your princess awaits you,” Natasha gave you a slurred smile.
“Princess? I’m a queen” Wanda giggles as she falls into your arms.
“Yes you are” you kiss the top of her head, “need a place to stay, Nat?”
“Nope. Kate’s our designated driver”
You look outside and see Kate waving to you and Wanda. Yelena stands next to her, offering you a salute.
“Thanks Nat” you hug your wolf bestie before helping to guide Wanda to your bedroom.
Wanda giggles as she passes her old room, “we’ll have to redecorate that one of these days”
“Why’d that?”
“Cause some day I wanna little teeny baby girl” she slurs her words a little. You let out a little laugh.
You lay Wanda gently down on your bed and grab a couple bottles of water for her. You give her a kiss to the forehead.
“Good night, my doe”
“Good night my buck” she mumbles back. “Until tomorrow”
And with that you grab your pillow and head to the couch.
Tomorrow. You couldn’t help but smile. Tomorrow couldn’t get here fast enough.

These amber necklaces made their first appearance in the 1998 film Elizabeth, where they were worn by several ladies-in-waiting, including Kelly Macdonald as Isabel Knollys (pictured) and Emily Mortimer as Kat Ashley.
Because quite a few were made, all of the necklaces documented here may be "different," though they all clearly come from the same set. Thus, for the purposes of documentation, Recycled Movie Costumes considers them "the same."
In 2003, one of the necklaces appeared on the cover of Philippa Gregory's The Queen's Fool. In 2007, it was seen on another book cover - this time photoshopped red on Alison Weir's Innocent Traitor.
In 2009, the necklace was worn by Carice van Houten as Maria Oldknow in From Time to Time.
In 2010, one necklace was worn by Joanne King as Jane Boleyn née Parker, Viscountess Rochford in the fourth season of The Tudors, and later that same year, two of the necklaces were worn by Fiona Hampton as Lady Matilda in The Sarah Jane Adventures.
In 2016, Claire Cooper was spotted wearing one of the pieces as Anne Boleyn in Six Wives with Lucy Worsley.
In 2021 it was worn in The Boleyns: A Scandalous Family on an extra playing Margaret of Austria, before being used in 2024's Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, where it was seen around the neck of Lilit Lesser as Princess Mary Tudor.

I think there is always a problem with Anne Baleyn's locker room in almost any production. It is always the worst dressed among the six queens. Just look at The Six Wives of Henry VIII of 1970
Tumblr media
The other wives wear appropriate dresses to the time that is set the series, Catalina de Aragon wears a Spanish fashion dress from the beginning of the 16th century, and Jane Seymour wears a modest green dress as a company lady according to 1636. What do you wear Anne? A series of high fantasy or Elizabethan dresses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I give a pass to this dress, not only because it is pretty but because Anne is wearing it in a dysphrase dance.
Tumblr media
But what about the rest of dresses? Anne became popular in the English court for her great ingenuity and glamorous French style. Henry the height of gifts during and his commitment, and the Baleyn were not poor. Why is your clothes so pesticary? Let's compare with Jane Seymour, who has a similar story. To start the Seymour were much less prosperous than the Baleyn, Jane's father, John Seymour was appointed gentleman on the battlefield by Enrique VII for his services against the rebels of Cornwall in Blackheath on June 17, 1497. Then he was appointed Caballero Banneret in 1513 after the battle of the Spurs. But outside those honors, the family had not risen much. Thomas Baleyn instead had served Enrique VII and had been in the entourage of Margarita Tudor when she went to Scotland. He was appointed Biscount for his own merit in 1525, even before Ana had met Enrique VIII. He was also heir to Ormond County thanks to his mother. Elizabeth Baleyn of single Howard, was the sister of the Duke of Norfolk. With only that information, it shows that the Baleyn were also much richer than the Seymour, apart from having a major noble status, which should be reflected in the clothes they wear.
If we see in the same adaptation, in your home Wolf Hall Jane uses a historically precise country attire, which shows the simplicity and modesty of Jane but also that the Seymour are not so rich to allow them to use the whole day silk but they are still noble to be made of good quality and dyed wool.
Tumblr media
His second outfit, when he attends the Court, is more fashionable and is elegant, but it is still simple and modest, reflecting Jane's personal tastes and that his family being low nobility, but the sumptuous laws, he is not going to Cover of jewelry.
Tumblr media
Once he became a queen, Jane's dress improves, she is still pale but is very adorned with jewelry, wears an elaborate two waters unlike the French headdress of her predecessor.
Tumblr media
The costume designers managed to tell the story of the most boring of Henry VIII's wives, through her clothes. Showing her evolution from the spinster daughter of an unimportant knight, to a lady-in-waiting courted by the king to the queen of England; wonderfully, with beautiful designs that look like they're from the Tudor era. Why can't they do the same with Anne?
The worst thing is that this is repeated constantly, in one of the most recent series based on the reign of Henry VIII, with a wardrobe that is almost exact to the historical period in which the events take place, "Wolf Hall". Okay, the series is from Cromwell's perspective, so they're not going to show us Anne's life before she got mixed up with the secretary's. Anne is already the future wife of the king when she appears. But when she is queen, her clothes only change color; there are no more jewels, no better fabrics, no embroidery and her hood is horrible. Just compare her pink dress that according to her designers is that of "The daughter of a simple gentleman" vs her clothes as queen when she can use better dyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are practically the same, I know that Anne is at that time Henry's girlfriend, but why is her clothing so simple even when she is the queen of England? There are no other jewels on her neckline, she wears no necklaces other than a pearl choker. Why are her dresses not made of silk, brocade and damask, with embroidery? This problem does not exist with Jane Seymour
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her dresses as a lady-in-waiting, reflect her reserved, simple and modest nature. Her clothes and hood are decorated with simple lace and embroidery, not with jewels unlike other noble ladies. The colors are monotonous but with some color inside, almost saying that the lady may look bland on the outside but on the inside she is a force to be reckoned with. She seems to be the spinster daughter of an unimportant family at the moment.
When Henry visits Wolf Hall, Jane wears a dress that is too simple for a visit from a king, but it gives a good idea of what a lesser noblewoman would wear in her home.
Tumblr media
As queen, Jane's clothes become more luxurious; more sumptuous fabrics, lavish jewelry and elaborate English headdresses. Rich but conservative, suitable for Queen Jane's character as peacemaker in the English court.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is it very difficult to do the same with Anne Boleyn? Even in other productions, such as The Other Boleyn Girl, which try to narrate the rise in status and evolution of Anne Boleyn, they repeat the same mistake: the Queen of England continues to dress like a knight's daughter! It's even worse than in Wolf Hall, where at least Anne uses dyes reserved for royalty in The Other Boleyn, she uses the same color palette throughout the film.
Tumblr media
There is no big change in her way of dressing, wait there is. Anne stopped wearing horrible dresses that don't look like they were from the Tudor period in England, like that blue dress with a circle print that looks more Italian and the "Cranach" suit. Seriously, the designers forgot that if the Boleyn girls had foreign influence in their clothing, it was French because they both served as ladies-in-waiting in France, not Italy or Germany. Honestly, the only dress in my grade is Anne's green dress.
Tumblr media
This is the look of the woman who became a star at the English court. The fabric is green silk or satin, her French hood looks like a French hood and not a Russian tiara. She wears the iconic gold B necklace. It is elegant, sumptuous and French, the look of a Viscount's daughter. The problem is that by attracting Henry's attention, Anne's clothes do not continue to improve, she does not try to look like the real Queen of England, she continues to dress like a simple noblewoman. Only when she is tried and executed, the designers give her clothes that royalty would wear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only adaptation based on the life of Anne Boleyn that manages to narrate the evolution of the character through her clothes is Anne of The Thousand Days. Sure, there are some questionable fabric choices, Russian tiaras, lace-up closures in the back, and the belief that Anne only had the pearl necklace with the gold B. But the designs are so pretty that you don't care.
We are introduced to Anne at court dancing with Henry Percy, she wears a beautiful light green damask dress, a gold choker and a French hood. Her look is simple but elegant and fashionable, fitting for the daughter of a notable noble family.
Tumblr media
It's no wonder Henry is drawn to her.
At home at Hever Castle, Anne wears a yellow dress, the design is simpler than the one worn at the court ball; the sleeves are wrist-length and there are no jewels at the neckline. But it's made of satin with embroidery, still an expensive but more casual dress. Befitting someone of Anne's social standing, she is not a princess by birth like Catherine of Aragon, but her family is of higher status than Jane Seymour's, the Boleyn girl's clothes are always going to be better at court and in her home than the pale Seymour girl's clothes.
Tumblr media
Back at court, now in the king's favour, Anne wears a more elaborate dress and headdress, accessorising with a gold brooch and a jewelled girdle. All gifts from Henry VIII.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She later wears this to dinner with the king, a dress of beautiful blue velvet with gold embroidery. Her hair is loose and decorated with jewels.
As queen she wears a dress of silver and gold brocade. And at a dance a white dress with silver embroidery and pearls and diamonds sewn into the bodice.
Tumblr media
She maintains her queenly appearance even when judged, but the colors are somber.
Tumblr media
At her execution, her clothing is devoid of ornamentation, simple and dark, very different from the historical Anne who died looking like a queen. But it is understood that she has been stripped of all her power and influence.
Tumblr media
This is how Anne's journey should be told, as she rises, her clothes get better. If I were in charge of Anne's wardrobe, I would have her wear designs similar to those in Wolf Hall and the green dress from The Other Boleyn Girl. At home and as casual wear, her clothes would be similar to the yellow dress from Anne of The Thousand Days. Once she starts being courted by Henry, she would continue to enrich her clothes until she reached her highest point as queen. Basically like Jane Seymour but prettier and French style.

In October, I decided to challenge myself to produce a miniature illustrated painting each day of the month inspired by the Tudor court and the medium of portrait miniatures.
Lucas Horenbout was a Flemish artist and founding artist of the tradition of painting miniatures. He moved to England in the mid-1520s and worked as the court miniaturist to King Henry VIII from 1525 until Horenbout's death. He captured many of the iconic figures of the era and also taught the art of illumination to Hans Holbein, who would go on to eclipse him as the most famous court artist of that era.
A portrait miniature is a miniature portrait painting, usually undertaken in gouache, watercolour, or enamel. Portrait miniatures evolved out of the techniques required to craft the intricate illustrations and borders of illuminated manuscripts, and became popular among 16th century elites. From the middle of the 18th century, the trend spread across the rest of Europe remaining highly popular until the development of photography in the mid 19th century.
For my challenge, I used black ink, water colours, and 300gsm textured watercolour paper. I bought and thrifted some amazing vintage frames, mostly 2 or 3 inches high. Some are over fifty years old, so consequently there are marks and scratches on them but I think it adds to the charm and overall feel of the pieces as historic miniatures.
I'm really proud that I completed the challenge - and all 31 paintings - and wanted to share a few with you here!
You can see them all over on my website 🖤

Bigby and Snow’s dynamic means so much to me. Anyone who sees them thinks they loathe each other but anyone knows them knows they’d die for each other. Bigby thinks Snow is an uptight nag and will beat up anyone who disrespects her. Snow thinks Bigby is an infuriating brute and she will reprimand anyone who talks shit about him. They hardly agree on anything and they’re an unstoppable team. They’ve been married for centuries and they’re bitterly divorced and they’re just coworkers. They vex each other and understand each other better than anyone. She’ll break the rules for him and he’ll better himself for her. They love each other they can’t stand each other they’ve known each other for centuries they-
