THE RING 2- 2005 ⭐️⭐
Tumblr media
Fear comes full circle in this tragic sequel to one of my favourite movies of all time.
Naomi Watts returns as Rachel Keller who moves to a new town with her creepy son Aidan in an attempt to put the Samara fiasco behind her. She gets a job at a local paper but its pretty bush league so she gets time to hang out with that little guy who follows her around everywhere. Just as shes getting used to the new town bodies start showing up and shes forced to face Samara again....
Not good. You can tell everything about how the movies going to be based on the intro alone. So rushed, bad acting/dialogue and laughably bad special effects.
Overall, the films quite boring at points. I cant say its just like the first film although theyre are lots of similarities, as they do take the story in a few different directions, but none of them good.
The scene where Rachels car is attacked by a gang of CGI deer is hysterical. What the fuck were they thinking. This films a complete joke but having Naomi Watts back is still nice.
Directed by Hideo Nakata who directed the original Japanese Ringu.

Ringu 2 (The Ring 2, 1999)
"Sadako... take me... and kill me! Take me and put an end to all this!"
#ringu 2#the ring 2#1999#horror imagery tw#creepy face#japanese cinema#horror film#hideo nakata#kôji suzuki#hiroshi takahashi#miki nakatani#hitomi satô#rikiya ôtaka#yûrei yanagi#kenjirô ishimaru#fumiyo kohinata#masako#rie ino'o#daisuke ban#miwako kaji#katsumi muramatsu#so after the disappointment that greeted Rasen‚ the initial sequel to Ringu (more on that in the inevitable tags for that film when i get#to it) a second second Ring film was rushed into production with original director Nakata and much of the cast returning. seems to have a#mixed reputation on letterboxd but for me this was p much faultless horror sequel making; how rare to have a film follow on so directly#from its predecessor whilst also taking the time to explore smaller characters and how their own little stories are now being merged into#the Sadako tale. frequently very scary but much of that isn't in the obvious stuff (the well and the hand and the gloop) but in the subtler#uncanniness (the truly horrible way Shizuko turns around from the mirror‚ the way dr Kawajiri mimics her in his final moments)#more concerned with the insidious pressures of modern cityscape than the folklore and mythologising of the original; the bustling newsroom#the aggressive cops‚ the chaotic hospital‚ all of it mounting up and threatening to crush Miki Nakatani's increasingly out of her depth#protagonist. similar but different; a fascinating divergence from the ideas of the first film and a hugely satisfying experience

Originally due out on December 12, The Ring Collection has been delayed to March 19 to provide "additional time to the restoration team to create the best possible brand-new 4K transfer of The Ring, as supervised by director Gore Verbinski."
Scream Factory's 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray box set will collect all three US films based on the 1998 Japanese horror classic Ringu: 2002’s The Ring, 2005’s The Ring Two, and 2017’s Rings.

The Ring:
It begins as just another urban legend – the whispered tale of a nightmarish videotape that causes anyone who watches it to die seven days later. But when four teenagers all meet with mysterious deaths exactly one week after watching just such a tape, investigative reporter Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) tracks down the video … and watches it. Now, the legend is coming true, the clock is ticking, and Rachel has just seven days to unravel the mystery of The Ring.
The Ring Two:
Hoping to leave their terrifying experiences in Seattle behind them, Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) and her son, Aidan (David Dorfman), move to the small town of Astoria, Oregon. When Rachel learns of an unexplained murder which occurred after a teenager watched a strange videotape with his girlfriend, she suspects her past is following her.
Rings:
When a radical college professor (Johnny Galecki) finds the mysterious video rumored to kill viewers seven days after watching it, he enlists his students in a dangerous experiment to uncover the secrets behind the Samara legend. When the deadly video goes viral, they must figure out a way to break the curse and defeat Samara before her evil is unleashed upon the world. But how do you stop her when she’s everywhere?
