"Bite Me" - Alastor x Reader - Part 4
Tumblr media
NOTE: smidge of Vox being creepy to Alastor. Nothing explicit or detailed.
----
You had just left the hotel to run some errands for yourself. You told Alastor he wouldn't want to tag along, but he insisted. You told him he'd not like where you were heading to, he didn't listen.
"...So STOP COMPLAINING!" You snapped at him.
Alastor didn't look at you, eyes straight ahead. His smile was strained, his ears pinned back, his posture straight and his arms crossed behind his back.
The two of you were walking through part of the Vees' territory.
"What, do tell, is your reasoning for bringing me here?"
"Are you stupid?" You hissed out "I just- I told you multiple times! I told you 'hey you don't want to go with me i'm heading somewhere you hate'."
"Perhaps I assumed it was an attempt to avoid me."
Your eye twitched. "Okay. Sure. Well, now you know it's not. So leave."
Alastor's eyes narrowed, though he didn't turn his eyes to you. "Oh but if I do now, that tacky picture-box might view it as a surrender...No, no, no. I'm simply going to take my time is all."
"Picture box?"
He let out a little 'hmm'. You didn't know if he thought he was confirming something for you or if he was fully aware you didn't know what he was talking about. Picture box?
"This is your destination?" Alastor said, ear twitching. You turned to look at him, hand on the door of the shop you arrived at. It was an electronics store with various gadgets and gizmos.
"Er. Yeah. I told you-"
"I'll simply wait out here for you then, yes?" He hummed, turning on heel and making himself comfortable standing right outside the door. Some meandering demons seemed to have recognized him, bursting out into terrfied screams and booking it to who-knows-where. Alastor chuckled and it seemed he found it funny.
You rolled your eyes and got to your business. Your headphones had recently broken down, being damn near impossible to use. You didn't bother having a job down here, but since you moved into the hotel you would do small chores here and there for spending money. Stealing wasn't exactly...encouraged at redemption. So. You tried to be moral about it.
Headphones of choice in hand, you fished about in your pockets for your cash even when the other people in the store started storming out while screeching in fear. Even the cashier was gone when you had placed the money on the counter and pocketed your new headphones.
You paid the right amount and trotted on out.
Expecting only Alastor, you ended up halting in your tracks when you see another demon talking to him. A TV-faced individual who's outfit seemed a blue version of Alastor's own. Oh. Picture box. This was probably who Alastor was talking about- Vox...
TV-face was too close to him.
You felt a growl rise up in your throat.
Alastor was doing a good job appearing unphased, but even if he was it didn't matter to you. The other demon was practically nose to non-existing-nose to the deer man, arms on either side of him in a blockade of sorts.
The TV was talking in a low, threatening growl. Something about 'have the nerve to not join him-'
You ducked underneath TV-man's arm, putting yourself between them and shoving the man away.
The flat-face of the fucker flashed a moment as its owner was startled, then one of the man's eyes started spiraling in color. Your mind started to feel a bit...fuzzy.
Alastor had put his hand on your shoulder, pulling you back behind him. Your gaze was stuck on TV guys, transfixed by the spinning-
Wait.
The bastard was hypnotizing you?
You growled, baring your fangs as your tail bristled.
HOW FUCKING DARE HE
Alastor's sound of surprise was small, quiet, and almost inaudible as you pushed him back, stomping up to Vox and shoved one claw onto his screen.
"Hey, you flat-faced plasma-screened fuck-a-saurus, back off before I shove something in your ports that ain't a HDMI cable!"
A quiet 'what the fuck are they saying' behind you was completely ignored. Blue electricity sparked off of Vox as he grabbed your wrist, leering down at you with that hypnotizing eye.
You pulled back, not managing to get super far as the TV-guy's grip on your wrist tightened.
"You got some nerve, you stupid bitch." He laughed, looking back to Alastor "I can't help if your associate here is brave or incredibly stupid."
"A bit of both, in my opinion." Alastor hummed "I do recommend you return them to me. They're a resident at the hotel, you know."
"You're still involved in that dumb thing?"
"It's entertaining. Now, then-"
You stopped supporting your own weight abruptly. Vox, supposedly not expecting that, stumbled as the center of gravity shifted. You took the opportunity to twist his wrist to release your arm and slid underneath him. You scrambled up onto his back and snapped your jaw open wide, preparing to bite down-
-only for your teeth to meet nothing air.
You blinked, disoriented.
Alastor was suddenly holding you. He's done it before, sure. Carrying you around like a suitcase or by the back of your shirt. But here he was, holding you bridal style.
"Wonderful catching up to you, old pal." Alastor said, grinning widely. "Now if you excuse me, I have other matters to attend to."
Vox's screen was sparking, his eyes darting between Alastor's and your own. His hypnotism started up in his eye a moment. You flipped him off with both hands, glaring intently.
He started screeching something, but Alastor's cackle drowned it out as he shadowed the two of you away.
"You shouldn't bite scum like him, my dear." Alastor said, placing you on your feet. He tapped one claw lightly against your nose "You may catch something awful. On another note..." he crossed his arms behind his back, giving you a flat look "whatever were you thinking getting between two overlords like that? Did you think i couldn't handle myself?" His tone lowered at that last question, his gaze darkening as red and black switched places.
"Um. I wasn't thinking." You replied honestly. Shrugging down into yourself, you took a half-step back. "I...Well. Um. I just. Did. He was giving me some intense incel vibes and I got mad so." You finished lamely with a half-hearted shrug "yeah."
Alastor scanned you a moment in silence. You started fidgeting with your claws and wondered if he'd let you write out a last will before killing you.
"I see." he said. "Well then, were there any other errands you needed to run?"
"Um. Nope." You said, ducking your head. Alastor tsked, pinching your chin between his thumb and index finger and forced you to look up at him.
"No need to avoid my gaze, my dear. Simply let me handle my own affairs from now on, yes?"
You blinked. "...I mean. No promises, but i'll attempt."
Alastor hummed "Yes, I supposed that's the most you can do."
~~~~~~
Later that day, Alastor asked Nifty what 'incel vibes' were. The little maid answer without a care in the world, going about her cleaning as usual without giving it another thought.
Alastor stood alone in that hallway, staring at nothing in particular. You got protective over him? It was laughable! He was the Radio Demon! You were...you.
Why was his heart beating so fast again?
==================
Maybe the whole biting thing isn't quite what Alastor is fixating on Reader about....
Bit more detail on the strip poker thing: The gang decides to do a strip poker night, but Reader doesn't know how to play poker. Angel comes up with the idea that any clothing taken off anyone else will be put on Reader instead.
Electric Love: Pt. 1
Edgar [Electric Dreams 1984] x Gn!Reader
All of my fics so far have followed the same universe, so I thought it's only logical that I post an introduction to that universe.
Tumblr media
The old man peering at you through puffy eyes and age seemed to have an air shrouded in mystery. His thin, white wisps of hair seemed to stagnate in place as he adjusted his button down.
“This old thing has been around for years now,” he gruffed—an unreadable tone—as his hand encased the yellowed plastic, “I don’t remember what happened to it; must have dropped it, or let some animal chip away at it.”
The dingy, vintage computer before your eyes surely had not been dropped, nor torn into by some animal. It sat upon his countertop completely destroyed; as if it had burst and shattered from the inside out, ripping the glass into jagged shards. You swallowed this thought; this was no time to debate the old man. He seemed to be quite senile as it was and pushing any further seemed like a fruitless effort. Instead, you stretched a thin smile his way, pursing your lips in thought.
“You actually think you can get this thing to work again?” he queried, raising a salt and pepper brow at your expression.
“Well, I’m not sure, but… I’d like to try,” what you hadn’t told him, however, was your infatuation with electronics. Ever since completing your bachelor’s in computer science, you have been tinkering away at many different projects in between jobs, building custom PCs, fixing old Game Boys, and many others. This little computer was an addition to your ever growing collection.
It came from a company you had never heard of before, only to learn it had become defunct in the 80s due to some inexplicable software issues in their products. This certainly intrigued you, as prodding into its code could provide some useful insight to real, vintage tech that just doesn’t exist anymore. But, that’s only if you manage to fix the heap of destruction limply hung before you.
The old man stiffened at your words, ever so slightly, before rattling out, “Well, if you do, don’t bring it anywhere near me. I can’t stand all this tech, and gadgets, and whatnot. Pisses me off.”
“Right,” you interjected, knowing people like him tend to go on long, anti-future, anti-technology rants, trying desperately to beat him to the punch, “well, how much do you want for it?”
He stilled, contemplating for a moment, “twenty-five should be fine.”
“Perfect,” you chirped, padding against your pockets and bag searching for some cash. Pulling out your wallet, you waded around the folds, only to find a crumpled up and faded ten dollar bill and a debit card.
“Ah, I’ve only got a ten…”
He rolled his eyes, “of course you do, you got PayPal, then?” Your cheeks flushed a burning red hot from embarrassment, “ah, yes, I do-”
“Great, just pay me that way,” he bent down and scribbled something messily onto a note, “here’s my information. I made sure to set this up for people like you, you know. Nobody carries cash anymore, or so my grandson tells me.”
You force out a nervous chuckle.
“That’s certainly true… these days, ah…” you unlocked your phone and began inputting his information into PayPal before pressing send on the digital payment, “okay, it went through.”
“Perfect. You need help getting this hunk of junk to your car?”
“No, I should be fine, thank you, sir,” you croak as you heave the broken computer into your arms, heading towards his door.
“Well, come back if you want to buy anything else. Nobody goes to yard sales anymore, it seems.”
You can only turn your head and chuckle at his quip, before awkwardly dashing out of his apartment and towards your car. The dampened asphalt from the rain squelched under your toes as you lugged the large piece of tech to the passenger side.
“There,” you whispered, to nobody in particular, as you awkwardly buckled the computer in place, “hopefully you won’t fall that way.”
And just like that, you were off, headed towards home to begin the massive project that was repairing this obsolete device.
“What to do with you?”
You groaned as you thumped the solid mass of plastic and metal against your desk, “you’re incredibly broken.”
First and foremost, it needs a screen replacement. Which is easier said than done. Especially considering the company who manufactured these things hasn’t existed in 40 years. Unfortunately, a close replica will have to do. Maybe you could even upgrade its screen with something with a bit more prowess.
Poking inside of its components seemed to tell a different story. Miraculously, none of the motherboards were damaged with the same ferocity the screen had been. There seemed to be some sort of dried, caked on water damage of some sort, that left a sticky residue, but otherwise, everything seemed to be relatively intact. The yellowed casing could use a wipe down from the thick layer of starchy dust, but it seemed to hold its original shape with surprising ease.
Following a closer inspection, it seemed as though the glass screen, and the components in charge of illuminating it, were the only things in need of replacing. A quick browse on Amazon, some tech forums, and a post on Reddit should be a good start in finding a usable replacement for this sad, broken gadget.
For now, however, you get some isopropyl alcohol and a soft bristled toothbrush to chip away at the water damage on the motherboards in hopes of restoring the electrical connections. You were quite hopeful that you’d get this little guy up and running just as soon as you could find the right parts. It’s only a matter of time.
Photo Booth | Albus Potter x Scorpius Malfoy Oneshot
Tumblr media
Prompt idea from @blue--ingenue
Scorpius is practically pressed against a shop window, peering at the different types of cameras on display. Albus has noticed how fascinated Scorpius got whenever they passed by a technology shop.
“This is… incredible.” Scorpius begins, eyes wide. “These things are all so cool. Cameras, phones, computers… these muggle inventions are incredible”
Albus just chuckles at his reaction. “I’m surprised you're so into these cameras considering ours are magical.”
“Precisely - I’ve been using magical cameras ever since I was little. I have no idea how these could possibly work.” He pointed at the display of photos near the window. “I’m dying to know how they produce pictures without magic! I feel like we should go inside!”
Albus laughs and nods, letting Scorpius pull him into the shop. It’s small and a bit cramped, but packed with electronics and little gadgets. Scorpius looks around like a kid in a candy shop, immediately heading to the section with cameras.
Albus follows him to the camera section and begins inspecting a few of the cameras on display, fascinated by the technology. “This is insane.” He mutters, adjusting a few of the settings to see how they work.
“I know.” Albus says, smiling. He looks over at Scorpius who’s fiddling with the settings, looking concentrated. He’d be lying to himself if he said he didn’t find his boyfriend's fascination with cameras adorable.
Albus watches as Scorpius continues to examine the cameras, feeling a fondness in his chest. He could happily stand here and watch him play with the cameras for hours.
Scorpius picked up another one of the cameras, messing with its settings as well. He suddenly turned it and pointed it at Albus. “Smile!”
Albus blinks for a moment as he processes Scorpius’s words before giving him a small smile. As soon as he smiles, Scorpius takes a picture of him. He grins triumphantly as he looks at the photo that he had just taken.
Albus leans in closer to look at the photo as well. The photo shows Albus smiling directly at the camera, looking a little caught off guard by the sudden picture. “See? You look handsome even when not prepared for a picture.” Scorpius teased.
Albus rolled his eyes, his cheeks turning pink from the compliment. “You just took a picture of me without warning, of course I didn’t look prepared.” He smirked.
“I gave you a warning by saying the word smile.” Scorpius continues to tease with that contagious grin of his. Albus rolled his eyes again, still blushing a little. “That hardly counts as a warning in advance, you git.” He nudged Scorpius playfully.
As they continue with their bantering back and forth one of the employees makes their way over to the two. “Do you need help with anything?”
Albus and Scorpius both turn to face the employee, caught off guard by the sudden interruption. They look at each other, a little stunned, before Albus gathers himself enough to speak. “No, we’re just browsing,” he says with a polite smile.
“Actually,” Albus says before the employee walks off. “We’ll take this camera.” He points to the camera in Scorpius’s hands.
Scorpius looked down at the camera in his hands, surprised by Albus’s sudden decision to buy it. “Really?” he asked, a grin slowly spreading across his face.
Albus nods. “You like that one right? If you want a different one that’s fine too.” He begins to ramble making sure Scorpius didn’t want a different camera.
Scorpius shakes his head, stopping Albus’s rambling. “No, no. I do really like this one. “A small smirk tugs at the corners of his mouth. “You just surprised me, that’s all.”
A smile returns on Albus’s face as he takes the camera from Scorpius’s hands to give it to the employee.
“Let me get the box for this and I’ll meet you back at the register.” the employee says kindly as they begin to walk off.
Albus and Scorpius nod and begin walking towards the register to wait. As they’re waiting, Scorpius nudges Albus with his elbow. “You didn’t have to buy this, y’know. You didn’t have to buy anything.”
“I know but I wanted to.” Albus shrugged. Scorpius smiles at that and reaches out to link his hand with Albus’s.
While waiting Albus notices something out of the corner of his eye taking a mental note of it as the employee returns with the camera just then and starts ringing up their purchase.
Scorpius watches as the employee rings up the purchase, barely able to conceal the excitement on his face as he thought about the camera that Albus had bought for him.
A smile forms on Albus’s face at Scorpius’s excitement. He’s always so much more smiley whenever Scorpius is around.
The employee finishes ringing up the purchase and tells them their total. Albus quickly pulls out his wallet to pay them. He can feel Scorpius practically shaking with excitement next to him, making his own smile grow.
Once the transaction is complete, Albus turns to Scorpius and holds out the bag to him. “Here you go. It’s all yours now.”
Scorpius takes the bag carefully, almost as if he feared that the camera inside was going to explode, and pulls it close to his body, grinning from ear to ear.
“Thank you,” he says, his gratitude evident in his voice. “Now come on I saw something I think will really get those wheels in your mind turning.” Albus says pulling him deeper into the store.
Albus’s vague statement piques Scorpius’s curiosity, and he lets himself be pulled deeper into the store. They quickly find themselves in front of a photo booth and Albus smiles excitedly at him.
Scorpius looks at the photo booth and then turns his gaze to Albus, a mixture of curiosity and excitement on his face.
“A photo booth?” He raised an eyebrow at Albus, a small smirk playing at the corner of his lips. “If you think cameras are interesting just wait and see how this works.” Albus grins.
Scorpius’s curiosity was now fully piqued. “How does it work?” he asks, walking closer to the photo booth and examining it.
Albus lightly pushes him into the booth before following right behind. “Best way to learn is to watch.”
Scorpius stumbles into the booth, surprised by the sudden push, and then turns to watch as Albus closes the curtain behind them and joins him inside the cramped space.
Albus fishes out some spare coins from his pocket and inserts them into the machine. “Okay so there will be a countdown on this screen so make sure you pose before the countdown ends.”
As he inserts the last coin he says one last thing. “I think this machine takes four photos.” Scorpius listened intently as Albus explained to him how the photo booth works. His face lit up at the information, eager to try it out.
“Four photos, got it,” he repeated, nodding his head in understanding. The machine lights up and the boys blink from the extra sudden lights before the countdown appears.
As the countdown appeared on screen, Scorpius felt a sudden sense of urgency. “Albus! We have to make four different poses!” he whispers urgently, slightly panicked by the time limit.
Albus chuckled as he saw Scorpius’s panicked expression. “Relax, Scorp. We have enough time to make four different poses.”
3…
Scorpius places his bag in front of their feet before standing back up.
2…
He glances at Albus as they still aren’t in a pose. His eyes dart around as he tries to think of a pose for them to do.
1…
Scorpius throws himself into Albus as he tightly hugs him. That’s the only thing Scorpius could think of as the countdown was stressing him out.
Albus almost stumbles backwards from the force of Scorpius’s unexpected hug, but he quickly steadies himself and hugs Scorpius back. He grins as he looks down at his boyfriend, thinking that the panicked hug was adorable.
As they sway in the hug and finally get their balance back they turn to face the camera and see in bold letters ‘Thank You! Please collect your photos down below.’
“We’re done already?” Albus asks, surprise evident in his voice. Scorpius grabs the photo card that the machine printed and can’t help but laugh.
As they both look at the photos Albus joins in on the laughing. All four photos were of their singular hug. Each photo was slightly different due to the force Scorpius put behind the hug.
The pictures were all slightly blurry, but captured their hug in various stages. In the first photo, they were both off-balance and stumbling backwards.
In the second, they were just managing to regain their balance. The third picture showed them standing still in a hug, and the final photo captured them looking at each other with such adoration in their eyes.
The pictures were all so candid, so real, and Albus couldn’t help but think that they were perfect. He looked over at Scorpius with a smile, seeing the same adoration in his eyes as in the final photo.
Sunyi's First Noise
[Koh "Sunyi" Tay Koon & Imulok "Imp" Kanun]
Summary: A hustler finally met his match in form of a kid(?) with a spider bot.
A/N: FRIENDS OCS WOOOOOOOOO!!! MALAYSIAN OPS GUYS ITS REAL NOW (Credits to @xxtempera for lending me them oh my god IM SO HYPED)
Tay Koon Koh isn’t a righteous person. That’s a plain fact.
Sure, he doesn’t litter his trash often. He has respect for his elders like many Chinese-descent Malays would. His work technically doesn’t involve anything illegal.
But sometimes, a hustler still needs to eat, like all humans would.
His usual options for this are either buying a small portion of stir-fried noodles from the small mom-and-pop stall near his place or stealing some snacks from an unmanned convenience store a bit further away.
Unfortunately, today, he chooses the latter option.
Being a hustler means scrounging for anything that he could use to survive. Whether it’s electro and engineering books that he borrowed from local libraries, to diving inside multiple junkyards for some metal scraps and usable electronic compounds that he could salvage.
The first piece of electronics he managed to make with his current skills and knowledge was a radio. Then he dismantled it and formed it into what he called a “Portable Jammer,” which he used to assist in stealing things from shops with security cameras and slip past the store’s anti-theft detector.
It’s not illegal if he doesn’t get caught, anyway. The store is a big one, and its sales margin wouldn’t drop even if it lost an item or two every week.
Food shouldn’t be gatekeep. It’s a necessity for humans to survive. Logically, it’s morally correct to steal food from the rich if you’re low on money.
With the jammer snugged nicely under his jacket, Tay Koon begins his mission to grab some snacks for the day and to check if his beloved gadget works as intended.
His eyes carefully scan around the open aisles to check for the employees.
No person in sight for now. He takes a deep breath.
There was a TV hanging on top of the ceiling near the entrance, viewing multiple aisles from the eyes of the store’s CCTVs. A couple of the screens seem to show statics only, and he grins.
His gadget still works perfectly, as usual.
The jammer becomes somewhat of a body warmer inside the inner pocket of the jacket, but he knows that if he takes his time too long, it’ll burn his skin.
He struts casually towards the snacks aisle, eyeing rows of packaged peanuts. He’s in the mood for the roasted garlic-flavoured peanuts. It pairs well with a cold glass of sweet iced tea for casual snacking while tinkering with electronics late at night. Or should he opt for battered spicy-coated peanuts—
Click-clacks.
Click-click-click-clacks.
The sudden soft whirring noise from under him almost makes him stumble down and sprint away, but he gets himself to stand on his ground and quickly examine the situation.
A small spider robot gently taps its metal legs on the ceramic floor. Its camera lens is currently facing him.
Anxiety washes him over like a bucket of ice water. He takes a small step backward, and the spider bot follows suit.
Is this the store’s new security camera? Should he run? No, running would’ve garnered more unwanted attention, and he doesn’t plan on getting caught just for this. If he quickly throws the bot away, would he be charged with property damage? Lawyers these days are expensive, and his elders wouldn’t be able to pay for any of them.
“Bejir…why is the camera screen has full static? It shouldn’t be out of boundaries…”
Tay Koon freezes on the spot. His gaze locks onto a tuft of messy jet-black hair that pops into his view at the corner of his eyes, right behind the aisle across him. Their footsteps are slow as if they’re currently afraid of crushing something.
He stares at the head, then at the bot below him. The tiny bot that he could’ve accidentally crushed if he took one more step. It tilts its “head” camera a bit, as if it’s curious at his behaviour.
The footsteps finally come to a stop at the same time as the figure stands right in front of him, revealing themselves to be an androgynous-looking person, leaning toward a more masculine look with the mullet hairstyle. They’re wearing some kind of glove with a small screen mounted onto it. Tay Koon can hear a familiar static noise coming from it, a sign of his jammer’s work.
Is this person also testing their gadget?
He doesn’t realize how short this person is in front of him, now holding the spider-looking bot and carefully inspecting it. Hell, he doesn’t even realize how they got in front of him without noticing.
Is it his overthinking again? God, this is a bad habit of his.
“And you. What are you doing here?”
The mentioned man once again freezes in place, his dark eyes meeting the other’s own ones. Dark bags under their eyes and a flat yet uncaring expression.
“Um…” He rubs the back of his neck. “I’m looking around… just sightseeing, I guess…?”
The other raises an eyebrow, unconvinced. “Uh-huh. What about that bag of nuts that you’re holding?”
His eyes snap at the small bag of nuts in his hand. The one that he was ready to snatch and book when he got bamboozled by that small spider bot. He clicks his tongue in response.
“Well, this is the souvenir…?”
“There’s no free souvenir, dumbass. Awak kira aku bodo kah?”
Well, seems like he can’t convince this person.
He bites his lips gently in frustration, puts the peanut bag back into the aisle, and walks away from the store, pocketing both his hands inside his jacket pocket. There goes his plan of getting a snack for tonight—
CLACK-CLACK-CLACK-CLACK—
The spider bot, which was supposed to be with the mullethead, somehow found its way out and chased him down at a speed faster than him, the taps of its legs hitting the floor became somewhat of a terrifying sound. He almost screams out, scrambling backward and trying his best to avoid stepping the small bugger.
In the midst of his panic, however, Tay Koon can see the mullethead observing from afar, looking amused. Their tablet still produces the hissing noise, so how does this one still move freely ??
“Hey, get this thing away from me!!”
His panic response only got a small grin from the mullethead. “Well, try to outrun my bot!” They let out a chuckle. “I’d be more impressed if you can outsmart it, even! Its AI can recognize its target from afar by their clothes and running pattern.”
Panic noise echoes around the store, along with an amused laughter.
Tay Koon had never thought that this encounter would change the trajectory of his life for good.
First, I applaud their efforts to stop senseless violence, even if I personally think it is as much wasted air as thoughts and prayers. The "Lightguard system" is a non-starter, it will make things much less safe than the actual confrontation itself. Here is their "proof of concept" clip.
youtube
First, we're in 2023 not 2003 lets make this a little more presentable and less like a high school digital project.
I'm speaking as someone who spent a career as an LEO and in the military, when I make these observations I'm not just shooting from the hip as it were. This clip shows the offender dropping their gun and running away blind, and the clerk looking back at your system lovingly, two problems. 1. Your clerk would also be blinded, thus rendered defenseless to anything that follows on. Light of this magnitude is all encompassing, it will bounce off every surface and it will blind in all directions except for maybe directly behind it. The light will not care if the person is looking at it or away from it. Everyone recovers from this kind of event exposure differently, the criminal may recover before the clerk. 2. The very last thing you want to do when someone is pointing a gun at you is to shock them or surprise them. There is a greater than average chance that the activation of your system will scare the criminal causing them to shoot reflexively. Now you have a clerk who had a criminal pointing a gun at them shooting blindly. As I said, good in concept, but practical application may need a little more attention. Also see strobing firearms lights, strobing crowd control and Laser dazzlers systems. As for "Smart guns", where to start? One of the two companies mentioned LodeStar, admits the fingerprint sensor may not be the most effective means to unlock the firearm for use, think your phones finger print reader and how often it fails. So they added a PIN pad AND a near-field communication signal to increase the probability that their concept would work. They had to put a finger print reader, an electronic signal receiver and a freaking PIN pad in the weapon. That tells me two things, the tech is so bad that they had to put multiple systems together to TRY to ensure the firearm would work most of the time and if you are putting your life on the line hoping all of those gadgets work when you need them too you are already dead. LodeStar says their firearm's will start at about 895.00 or about 355.00+/- more than your standard Glock 19 Gen 5. Every time I type LodeStar I hear... "Not so fast Lonestar!" from Spaceballs (1987), I digress. The other company, SmartGunz, is marketing towards Law Enforcement with a side market to everyone else. Their concept requires an RFID chip to make the firearm work, Oh, but there's more. Their concept only works on a 1911 style firearm, it will only work if the user depresses the grip safety WHILE ALSO WEARING A FREAKING RFID GLOVE to activate it. I don't know about all y'all but I don't often walk around or sleep with a glove on like I'm Michael Jackson.
Tumblr media
Sorry Mike, I still love your music. On 8 July 2021 the firearms were projected to cost 2,695.00 for LEO's and an astounding 2,995.00 for all the rest of us peasants. I say "US" because I am no longer an LEO and can't get their gracious discount. On 12 July of that same year Tom Holland, president of Free State Firearms, LLC announced that the cost for pre-orders would be 1,795.00 for LEO's and the low price of 1,995.00 for everyone else. As far as 1911's go that is the cost of a Colt Gold Cup Trophy or a Dan Wesson Valor 1911 without all that tech to get in the way of you saving your own life. It's also the cost of 3 Glock 19 Gen 5's or or 3 Palmetto State Armory "PA-15 16"NITRIDE M4 CARBINE" 5.56mm riles. With all that said, these technologies are not in place to make the end user safer, they do nothing to address violent crime, it only lays the burden on the person who at their point of most need, when their mind is in survival mode, it adds roadblocks to their chances of survival. SIDE NOTE: A German company named Armatix came out with a smart gun in 2014, soon after people figured out that with magnets on the sides of the firearm it would bypass the guns radio signals and allow anyone to use it, it was pulled from the market there soon after.
I never realized how much extra content PPG had until I looked at archive.org; the chapter books, the powerzine, picture books, flash games, console games, desktop themes, and other misc media; so I wanted to ask, what's your favorite piece of non-animated ppg content?
Man, what a tough question! There’re soooooo many good and weird supplementary things from the show out there. I really don’t know if I could choose a favorite!
I guess I’m kiiinda partial to the chapter books because many of them feel like scrapped ideas that could have made really fun episodes. I like the comics (I REALLY liked IDW’s Second Chances in particular… even though there’re some OOC moments near the end 😭), but the chapter books just feel like a better representation of the show to me. I like how they focus on the characters and their internal dialogue more, and speaking of dialogue, the girls are sasssssyyy. Here’s one example but there are many others like it:
Tumblr media
I feel like I end up paying the most attention to how Blossom is written in these (naturally, haha, she’s my fave!) and I feel like there’s a lot of things in them about her character especially that I would have loved to see as canon in the show (like, off the top of my head: Blossom trying to start her own detective agency, becoming mayor for a day, hating coffee, seeing more of her aptitude for creating gadgets and fixing electronics, etc.). There’s really cute stuff with Buttercup and Bubbles too, and I just love how the books really do feel closest to an extension of the show.
