Dr's. Barnes and Rogers (Part 2)
Ok so we all really enjoyed part 1 amiright? I've done part 2 and it's still not done because this is now my new life 🎀
I am tagging a few people I hope I got everyone! @pattiemac1 @plusultra-kitten @marvelsgirl4ever @saranghaey @xonickibaby @vickie5446 @sarcastickiddo
My warning for you is it's mature and it's Doctor Kink
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You had decided to at least investigate the offer made to you by the Doctors a bit further, so you called up Dr Barnes and he happily scheduled a visit for the next evening.
You had a lot of questions, but you were also quite excited at the idea of having a baby and living a potential life of luxury all in the name of science. You were also confused as to why the two doctors were the only candidates for this trial. Surely that wasn't ethical?
⚕️
Back in the familiar office, tonight the air felt more electric with potential. The two doctors, Bucky and Steve as they asked you to call them from now on, were pleased you were there and were keen to make you feel comfortable.
"So... I want to do this. I think I do anyway. But I have questions..."
They both grin broadly and wave a hand at your questions. "That's such good news sweetheart" Bucky says, a bright smile lighting up his face. "Don't worry about the small print just yet! As one potential candidate we need to do a few tests before you sign up!"
You smile a little at him and his excitement, but couldn't help feeling a little worried at the idea of other candidates. What if someone else got the place?
"Perhaps we can get the ball rolling now Buck?" Steve says helpfully and they smile at each other. "Great idea! Let's get to work..." You stutter a little as he takes your hand and pulls you back into his examination room. "Wait you want to do this now?" You manage to blurt out, scanning between them both in a daze. "No time like the present hmm? The sooner we know, the sooner we can answer those questions and get your paperwork started!"
Bucky whirls around the room and grabs various bits of equipment that you don't really notice whilst Steve just stands there and chuckles at his friend. He notices your trepidation and walks over to you, placing a hand on your shoulder gently. "Don't worry honey, its all normal for these kinds of things. We're here to help you."
You smile as Bucky finishes his prep and they both head to the door. "Sweetheart I need to you strip down totally for this one, and then legs in the stirrups okay? I'll explain the rest as we go." And with that they leave the room.
You stand there shell shocked for a moment. You had planned so many questions and not at all for a physical exam this evening. But you supposed it made sense. Not point signing up for something if you weren't actually able to do it right? Plus the added fear of having this opportunity stolen by someone else made you keen to get going!
You slipped your clothes off and tried to get comfortable again on the bed, legs resting in the stirrups. You covered your chest with your arms and wiggled in place, feeling very exposed.
After a moment they both came back and were less subtle about appreciating your naked form. "Told you didn't I?" Bucky muttered and Steve just hummed in approval as they took their places. Bucky between your legs and Steve up by your head.
"So we have to do two things in this examination. One is to check your general health, and the other is your reaction to stimulus. All you have to do is relax and go with it, ok?" Steve spoke above you, placing his hand right at your shoulder and you could only nod as you heard Bucky pull his gloves on. "Oh...okay, I'll do my best..." You mutter as his hands smooth over your thighs.
Bucky asks Steve to come and look at your folds, pushing them open as he rubs fingers over them. "Hmm already stimulated?" He mutters to Bucky and they both chuckle before he heads back up to you.
"Already doing so well honey" he says catching your concerned expression before pulling on his own gloves. Steve then takes his time examining your upper half, pressing into your neck and stomach, measuring your heartbeat and blood pressure all whilst Bucky is taking notes and watching your exposed heat.
Then Steve's fingers start squeezing at your breasts, he pulls and tweaks your nipples making you whimper and squirm. "Ok easy sweetness, does that feel good?" You struggle with an answer until Bucky taps your thigh slightly firmly.
"You have to tell us the truth. If you don't give us an accurate response we can't tailor the insemination process for the optimum results. So tell us what feels good and what you need ok?"
You nod and let out an exhale. "That felt good" you pant as Steve continues his tweaking and twisting. As he does, Bucky rubs his fingers through your folds, now embarrassingly soaked which he doesn't hesitate to mention. "Think you like that a lot don't you sweetheart?"
"Hmm yes!" You groan as he rubs soft circles around your clit and your legs shake in the stirrups. Steve leans down and continues to torment you. "What about if I sucked on your tits honey? Would you like that? While Dr Barnes plays with you?"
You whine and nod as he chuckles at you, moving away to latch on to your sensitive buds. Bucky tuts as he watches on, before grabbing a vibrator and pressing it to your sensitive clit. Your hips buck as he turns the dial up and you squeak at Steve's mouth sucking at your nipples.
"I need to... Can I please come?" You strain as the pressure in your tummy builds towards a peak. Bucky hums in consideration before pulling the vibrator away. "No sweetness, we need to build you up a little more. Plenty of time for that later."
You pant as Steve also pulls away leaving your nipples swollen and sensitive in his wake. You wriggle in position, desperate for some relief but finding none in your current predicament.
"I want.... Need more, please" you moan, not caring how desperate you sound. This is already the best experience of your life and you don't want it to end.
"Tell us what you need now sweetheart" Bucky says, gently tickling at your thigh, running painfully close to touching your heat. You almost sob as you try and maintain your dignity, "just wanna come..." You feel him pinch your soft skin, "you want to come, please Dr. Barnes" he says darkly, but it sends a thrill over your body. "Please, Dr Barnes, please can I come?"
They both chuckle and settle at the lower half of you, where they promptly ignore you and talk between themselves. "I think that one to open her up?" Steve says motioning to something on the table next to him. "You wanna taste?" Bucky says and you feel two fingers probe your heat and you watch as they suck their gloved fingers, moaning as they enjoy the taste of you.
"Do you think I should try...?" Bucky says and Steve chuckles before they glance at you. Steve sinks his fingers into your pussy and curls his fingers making you moan and nibble on your fingers. "Hey beautiful? You want something your mouth and I'll make you come like this?" His thumb circles your clit and your eyes roll backward.
"Yes please Doctor Rogers, please" you beg and they laugh again as Bucky moves away and comes up to your head. He carefully adjusts the bed so your laying flat and pulls so your head hangs off the edge. He strokes your hair gently as your fingers grab at his trousers, pulling them downwards and moaning as his cock springs free. You struggle to grab it so he guides it into your waiting mouth, groaning as you immediately suck, reacting to Steve's torturous fingers.
"Holy fuck" he growls as he watches his cock disappear into your mouth, throat bulging as he slowly fucks you. You moan around him as Steve is more fast paced, jerking his fingers and rubbing your clit harshly as he grabs you towards your peak. You feel hands pawing at your breasts again as your legs shake and hands claw at leather.
"Think we've found a sweet spot here" Steve says as he feels you flutter around his fingers. When your face is covered in spit and tears Bucky pulls out of your hungry mouth and watches with hot desire. You moan and whine, "Please can I come, please?" Steve's fingers jerk and suddenly you are coming hard the sensation is enough to have you shaking as it ripples through your whole body.
Bucky lifts you back on to the bed properly so you lay more comfortably. He perches on the bed next to you and strokes a gentle hand across your face and hair. "You are doing so well sweetheart, we need to do one more check and then we'll have our results ok?"
You are on cloud nine as you nod at him, managing to murmer a quiet, "yes doctor Barnes." Your moan becomes louder as you feel a rubber cock press against your pussy and stretch you out before pressing further in. "It's big..." You whine and he strokes your face again. "I know sweetie but I know you can take it. Gonna need to be a good girl and take it for us ok? Don't want to miss out do you?"
You moan again as Steve starts pumping the cock into you, a steady but slow pace. You feel every inch of it filling you up, but it feels so good. Bucky strokes your hair again and you try and focus on what he's saying, "so you like having your pretty tits played with hmm? And a cock in your mouth, is that right sweetie?" You feel heat rush to your cheeks but you know you have to admit it. You want to be a good patient after all.
"Yes Doctor, it...ah.. it felt really good..." He smiles and leans down where you instinctively kiss him, his lips capturing yours in a breathtaking kiss. He breaks it as you whine at Steve's actions, increasing the pace below. "I think you should thank Dr. Rogers for making you come by letting him use this pretty mouth? What do you think?"
Your head floats as you find yourself nodding enthusiastically at the idea. He smiles warmly and moves away whispering something to his colleague as they swap places. Befor Steve has even got to you, you are hanging over the edge of the bed, ready and waiting.
"Eager little thing aren't you?" He chuckles, guiding his cock into your mouth as Bucky had, slowly choking you on his long length. As you sucked, you felt the another rubber head pressing at your ass and squirmed at the sensation.
"Easy honey, Dr Barnes knows what he's doing, just relax" Steve reassured you but they both waited until your body relaxed again before continuing. In moments you are being fucked from both ends, rubber filling your ass and pussy, and Dr Rogers working your mouth.
You squeal around him, pleasure rocketing through your body as the pace the set makes the table beneath you creak and your body shudder. You hands claw at Steve's thighs and your hips buck, chasing the actions of Bucky. It doesn't take long with the overstimulation of your senses before you are on the peak of pleasure. As Bucky did, Steve removes himself as you cry out, your climax crashing through your body, vision turning white as he coaxes you through it.
You lay there panting for a moment as they whisper hushed tones, very excited by the sounds of things. You can barely move for the pleasure still running through your body but you slowly come back to your self as a glass of water is pressed into your hands and a blanket is laid across your body .
"Sweetheart, that was amazing, you did so well. Do you feel ok?" Bucky asked stroking your arm and brushing your hair out of your face. "I'm not complaining about any of that" you giggle in between sips of cold water.
They both chuckle and pull up a chair each next to you while you relax. "So I think we agree that you are a perfect fit for the trial, are you still happy to take part?" Heat rushes to your face nod shyly behind your glass, giggling a little at their pink eager faces.
"But can I ask something now?" They nod as you sit up a little in your seat. "Are you the donors in this trial?" Steve coughs a little and blushes a deeper shade of pink. Bucky decides to come clean, a bit, and goes back to stroking your hair.
"We are sweetness. We know it's not usual, but this is our experiment and we want to be involved in every aspect. From choosing the right woman, to providing the sperm and anything else needed along the way."
"And what is this experiment in aid of?" You ask, but he brushes the question aside. "That's the boring bit, don't worry about that, just know that if you want to be involved, you are fully accepted."
You smile after a moment. "Ok let's sign the paperwork..."

"disabled writers struggle so much and I care about including them in the community!!!!'
Fantastic what are you doing to highlight disabled writers. what are your opinions about pitches tagged with disability hashtags getting the LEAST amount of hits and visibility during pitch events. Do you have an opinion? Did you know that was happening? Did you know that disability is the least represented in kidlit? Is your website screen reader friendly? Do your live videos have subtitles? Do your live events have ASL translators?
Are your conferences held in accessible places? Do they have multiple elevators? Ramps? Accessible bathrooms? Or will we all be lined up to use the same bathroom in one out of the way area with only one stall? How do I get on the stage to read? Is there a ramp, or are you gonna awkwardly make me sit in front of the stage and the audience and make a spectacle of myself while you rush to find another mic stand? Is there proper wheelchair seating or are you gonna put me in the aisle conveniently in front of a pole so I can't see, and I'm directly in other people's way? Are you actually committed to include me as a full member of the community or just making sure I'm an inconvenience to my peers so I don't come back?
Can I get through the fucking door?
Are respirators required? Vaccinations? Two negative covid tests? Is there any kind of air filtration system whatsoever? Are there low-sensory areas? Is there food on site? Is there accessible transportation? Can I drive there or do I have to fly? Did you know that airplane staff crush electric wheelchairs more than they don't, and there're no enforced consequences to stop them? Do you have scholarships for writers who want to go but would have a burden of expense, especially if they absolutely HAVE to drive to the event or risk losing their legs? Are you gonna waive the ticket price for my nursing staff that I physically cannot go anywhere without, or you gonna make me pay double, triple, what my peers pay just to go? (these publishing events are usually 100s of dollars just for a ticket btw)
Is your residency program accessible? Is there a place for my staff to also stay? Will you let me bring my staff? Is there enough space and outlets for my equipment? My hospital bed? Does the pay include the extra electricity it takes to run them? Does it have a bathroom I can use?
CAN I GET IN THE FUCKING DOOR?
...No?
I can't?
That's what I thought.

🤝 for josie on a bad pain day?
🤝 - Some help performing a basic task
That Which Pains You
Loathing as she was to its prescence, it was an unwanted fact that The Percipient Scientist dealt with frequent boughts of pain and aches, that of which could often interefer with her tasks and frustrated her to no end. That doesn't mean she has to deal with it alone.
Word count: 950

Even the quick movement of Josephine's wrist as she moved to pick up the pen was a sore reminder of her physical limitations that vexed her so. Pain and stiffness radiated up her hand, like a pulse of electricity surging through an unwanted conduit.  Even as she tried to open and close her fingers to relieve the pressure, she could almost feel the grating sensation of the tendon as she moved.
She'd done all she could to wade off the flare up - she'd practised stretches, equipped her braces, took frequent breaks - but it seemed even she couldn't wade off the aches and pains forever. It was coming close to the end of term, countless papers and tests to mark, all needing to be returned in a timely manner, all alongside her other work...well, it was no wonder she'd over extended herself.
Josephine sighed, weary and exhausted.
It wasn't the pain that got to her on its own, even though it was an ever present reminder of the lingering weakness she didn’t even know the origin of. No, it was the complete and utter frustration at being unable to perform something she did almost every day. The rest of her body thrummed in painful agreement her traitorous hand, and Josephine half regretted getting out of bed this morning, even if she knew it would have driven her mad to stay. She'd tried to work at the desk for ages, but eventually ended up propping herself up in bed to try and wade off the exhaustion.
Her struggle, it seemed, did not go unnoticed.
"Are ye doin’ alright there love?"
September had looked up from his own writing, the two of them in their usual cohabitance of working near one another in peaceful silence, simply enjoying one another's presence. September’s brow was furrowed in that way it got whenever he was concerned, and the fondness Josephine felt at his expressiveness was almost enough to wade off the building frustration.
"It's fine it's just-" she reaches her other hand up under the bridge of her glasses to squeeze at the bridge of her nose. Josephine's struggle with pain was no secret to September, even if it had taken time for Josephine to speak with him on the subject.  "I have come to yet another impasse with my physical limitations, and I have come no closer to understanding why, and I need to get this work done less I fall behind, and I can’t even pick up the pen properly, and I don't-"
She takes a deep, centred breath. She would not cry over something so benign, so common, so frequent. She wouldn't.
In the midst of her beginning ramble, September had put his work down, moving to cross the room and settle down beside her. He reached his hand out and gently took her hand in his, as Josephine worked to keep her breathing level. She didn’t know why she felt so overwhelmed so quickly, like the mere acknowledgement of her suffering was enough to shatter the dam that kept the flood at bay.
September's thumb rubbed soothingly into the pad of her hand, helping ease the tension, before lifting her hand to place a gentle kiss along the knuckles. He offered an arm out for her to move closer to him, a solid weight against her.  It didn't make the pain go away, but somehow, the support made it seem more distant, as if a glass had been placed between.
A few moments passed in peaceful silence, before September gently moved and turned to look at Josephines work.
"Aye, how bout' this love, ye tell me what you need written n’ marked, and I c’n be yer hands for ye til’ it's done."
Josephine blinked at him, processing the suggestion. It was a solution, sure, but-
"But don't you have your own work to complete? It would hardly be fair for you to fall behind because of me." Something in her bristled, at having to accept help, of having to rely on anyone, even if the idea of not having support also hurt.
"Ah well, ah ne'er particularly get anythin’ done in time anyway, and yer time limits are always more pressin, aint’ they?" He smiles at her. "Ah dinnae mind, really. N’ it'll give me even more time tae spend wi’ ye."
That was.... touching. Appreciated. Josephine almost felt like crying again for altogether a different reason.
"That would be... amenable. I think, given the circumstances I am working in." She reaches to read through the previous exam page she had been struggling with. "I don't expect you to be well versed in the topic, but I do hope you'll be able to follow along with my direction."
It's not a quick process, by any means, not as it would have been for Josephine on a good day of her own accord. But it was process nonetheless, as September filled out the pages to her directions to a key (with an added commentary here or there). As time passed, Josephine's trepidation at having to let someone else do the work for her, September never once passing commentary on the subject, only ever being fully supportive.
She did trust him, afterall. She could trust him with this.
By the end, Josephine was able to finish this set of paper with September's help, and he helped gather the papers for her in a neat organised pile, even if Josephine did have to remind him of which coloured folder they went into. A nice bath and a peaceful evening were next on the agenda, if Septembers’ hopeful gaze and offers to help were anything to go by.
Well, she could be amenable to that too. If it was offered, anyways.

✨OC Interaction Tag✨
I gotchu, @fortunatetragedy ✨
Your OC: Khalid Abandonado
Khalid is a 12-year-old Son of Ether who is beginning his Ph.D. in biophysics. (Quantum biophysics, specifically.) He is curious, friendly, and socially isolated; also touch-averse and easily startled. He understands more references than you'd think he would. The air around him seems charged with electricity at all times, and he has a shock of white hair in his wavy dark brown hair. He wears safety goggles around his neck at all times hoping no one will notice his neck. (Or he wears a button-up shirt with a tie under a lab coat everywhere. Harder to see his throat that way.)
Spoilers: Khalid's neck and throat are heavily scarred. The scar tissue is bioluminescent green and gives him away in the dark. It gets explained in the next ALM update.
My OC: Ali from YWIMC
Ali is a 1000+ year old genie who was cursed in ~620 AD in his mid to late 20s. He was born in Sharma, Saudi Arabia and moved to Madinah with his father at 8 years old—where he remained until trying to flee back to Sharma to run from his curse (unsuccessfully). To say coming back to modern day was a culture shock would be an understatement. He is a practicing Muslim, highly energetic, very friendly and personable, and sometimes unaware of his own strength. If he was a dog breed, he would be a golden retriever.
Their interaction?
I feel like Khalid would be over the MOON to ask Ali questions, maybe try him as a guinea pig. Ali would be aloof, going along with whatever the mad scientist wanted, shrugging and saying “sure okay”. Ali wanted to adopt children before he was cursed, so he is happy to humor the 12 year old.
Though, Khalid would have to remind Ali to not touch any expensive lab equipment, as the poor genie has, on numerous occasions, broken things due to his lack of situational awareness. I feel Khalid would grow fascinated with Ali’s raw strength and genie powers, and try to lift his curse. Their interactions would be cordial, Ali would continue going along with experiments and wowing Khalid, and Ali would quickly be on track to Khalid’s #1 favorite test subject ✨
Let’s see those OCs, you beautiful writers (no pressure, though): @autism-purgatory , @wyked-ao3 , @sunglasses-in-the-bentley , @bookish-karina , @cowboybrunch , +open tag! 💖

What the hell is going on with those eyes, huh? (A hc359 update)
Confused? Find the Masterpost here, and read the first four installments in the series before this one! In this installment, I try my best to make Grian's life as miserable as possible!
CW: discussions of death, surgery, medical equipment, body horror, mild dehumanisation (accidental(?))
So, despite Cub doing research and experiments on that fun little wall with eyes in the Hermethus' hidden storage, Grian is the only one who actually touched those eyes when he discovered them. He just relayed the fact that it gave her an electric shock to the others so they avoided touching it.
Several weeks have passed since Grian talked to mission command, and those several weeks have been... painful. The crew is being unfriendly and uncooperative, barely keeping the place together as they drift further into deep space. Worst of all, Grian's arm has been hurting like hell, and she just can't figure out why.
Not that she talks to Scar or Cub about it, or asks Mumbo for any medical information or any scans. She is quite content to never talk to them again, actually. They probably all hate her for keeping secrets from them.
And then, one day, Grian wakes up to find small raised bumps across her arm, barely visible but as uncomfortable as ever. It's weird, but he assumes it's some kind of allergic reaction or a side effect of being in space for too long. Something that will go away. But, pressing on the little bumps and feeling the skin of her arm, she notices how solid the raised areas are. Kind of squishy, but solid.
It's not itchy, more like growing pains mixed with pins and needles. And the feeling goes deep, into the muscle and bones. Like something is latching itself into him, taking root.
(That is exactly what's happening, but Grian does not know this, and so she says nothing)
Eventually, the bumps across his arm start to form cracks on the skin, which look like faint scars at first but then become deeper, clear indications of eyelids. These developments happen so fast Grian barely has time to contemplate telling someone. She even hides it from Mumbo's camera-eyes.
Then, the eyes begin to open, and Grian thinks maybe he messed up.
It's not like she can see out of them... most of the time. But it's freaky. And what if more start spawning? What if they are, under the skin where he can't see? Hundreds of eyes growing inside her? She's scared the crew will mutiny, or something, because of the obvious alien infection, but he can't stay quiet now. He has to tell them...
She hides it, still, for a few more days, wrapping her arm with bandages. The fabric feels horrific against the freshly-sprouted eyes, especially because she can't control when they open or close. It makes her nauseous just looking at them. She can only tolerate it for so long.
A crew meeting is called. Grian just rips off the proverbial band-aid all at once and hopes for the best, absolutely terrified that the crew will turn against him even further.
The first reaction is a sort of general shock. But then, surprisingly fast, the crew go straight into Science Mode. Scar is a biologist, Cub has been running experiments on the wall-eyes, Mumbo... well, he's still kind of mad at Grian, actually, but he's also an AI with access to all the knowledge of humanity (sort of) so he starts searching for similar cases in old medical files.
Scar is very curious in a practical kind of way. He asks if the eyes can see, if they're connected to anything, if they have their own nervous systems, etc. Cub really wants to run some tests. and Grian feels more like a specimen than a person at that point, so she agrees and lets Cub take him to the lab. Scar wants to tag along but Cub doesn't let him, telling him to stay put and let them know if the ship starts exploding or anything crazy.
It's... not too long before Cub grabs a scalpel and tries prying one of the eyes out. No warning or anything. Grian screams and slaps him in the face. Serves him right.
They have some painkillers stocked up, so Cub offers those to Grian because he... really wants to do a bit of a vivisection, to be honest. Really wants to get under the skin and see what's happening. He just momentarily forgot that Grian can feel pain. Silly mistake to make, of course.
It takes some convincing, but Grian hesitantly agrees to a short operation. She's still awake during the procedure, though he's drowsy and her arm is numb. There's a little bed surface to lay down on, so she doesn't fall over or anything. Cub is relatively careful, making an incision on the skin and looking inside with a mini camera - taking scans as he does so - before sewing the wound up and moving on to an eye. It will be easier to analyse in isolation, as well as better to see whether it dies or not when separated from Grian's body.
The eye is cut away cleanly, and in an instant Grian is shocked with pain, riveting up her arm like fire. She lashes out with no control, hitting Cub in the side of the head. Something inside her, something that isn't her, screams in pain and anger.
His vision flashes between normal sight and the shattered dozen perspectives of the eyes... including the one so neatly cut from her flesh. In the moment, he feels like he's dying. Life draining away, slowly but still too fast.
Later, he realises the feeling came from the severed eye, as it was dying. But even knowing this, inside her something is broken. Missing. Dead.
Grian relays that she might be, uh, innately connected to the eyes now. He's like 'bad news i think cub killed a part of me' (and Mumbo gets to make a sassy remark about being dead) and thus things are more complicated.
They dont know whether the eyes are malicious, or invasive, or symbiotic. Scar wants to do some research into that. He specialises in animal behavioural phenomenons and is really interested in what kind of relationship the eyes have to Grian- are they like fish or barnacles attaching themselves to sharks? Are they more like parasitic worms? Are they trying to feed on Grian and eat away her body? Trying to become one with her?
This is all really interesting to Scar. I mean, he also wants Grian to be safe, and they need to know whether they should remove the rest of the eyes or not, but... it's a bit of excitement in an otherwise particularly doomed trip.
Overall, Grian feels like her very obvious depressive cycle might be about to get worse, but at least the crew are talking to her. Even if it's just because she's a new thing to experiment on...
Remember when she used to have authority? Yeah, she doesn't really miss it either.

China announces fourth aircraft carrier. Will it be the first nuclear propulsion?
China will soon inform if the newest aircraft carrier will be powered by nuclear energy
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 03/07/2024 - 08:34in Military
The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAN) Navy officially announced that it will build the country's fourth aircraft carrier, Type 004, stating that doubts about whether it will be powered by nuclear or conventional energy will be addressed soon.
Yuan Huazhi, the political commissioner of the PLA Navy, released this information during Two Sessions, the simultaneous annual meeting of the National People's Assembly (APN) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CCPPC) that took place in Beijing, while addressing issues about the aircraft carrier propulsion system and its strategic role.
Tumblr media
In response to questions from the Hong Kong Commercial Gazette, Yuan Huazhi, also a deputy of the National People's Assembly (APN), remained silent about whether the fourth aircraft carrier would be powered by nuclear energy. He said: "We will tell you soon," suggesting that a formal announcement on the subject is imminent.
Tumblr media
Yuan emphasized that there are no technological bottlenecks in the development of China's aircraft carriers, stating that progress is proceeding smoothly. He clarified that the expansion of China's aircraft carrier fleet is not intended to compete with the United States, but to safeguard national sovereignty, territorial integrity and rights.
When asked about the ability to fight U.S. aircraft carriers in the Western Pacific, Yuan said: "Trust us, we can. We don't just deal with aircraft carriers. We also deal with [potential threats] comprehensively."
Tumblr media

Analysts were cited by the Global Times debating the energy source of the new aircraft carrier. Some expect it to be powered by nuclear energy, citing the advantages of unlimited range. However, others argued in favor of a conventional propulsion aircraft carrier, similar to the third Fujian aircraft carrier, citing cost efficiency and faster generation of combat capability.
On Twitter last year, Henri Kenhmann speculated that the new concept of Jiangnan aircraft carrier could be powered by nuclear energy, something that has long been considered of interest to PLAN. Nuclear propulsion gives ships an effectively unlimited range, although they still need to be refueled for other reasons. Nuclear power also has benefits when it comes to generating the electricity that modern warships need to properly power advanced weapons, sensors, mission systems and more.

Currently, the PLA Navy operates two conventional propulsion aircraft carriers, the Liaoning and the Shandong. The third aircraft carrier, Fujian, is currently undergoing mooring tests and is expected to carry out tests at sea later this year.

Observers reported that the deployment of aircraft carriers in China is aligned with the general standard, where a third of the time is spent on maintenance, one third on training and only one third on deployment. “Having three aircraft carriers means that the PLA Navy can only have one aircraft carrier at its disposal at any given time,” noted one expert. With the addition of a fourth aircraft carrier, China intends to improve its strategic capabilities.

“Animal”
Tags: modern uni au, secret musician James, late night radio host Regulus, James keeps sneaking into a recording booth when he thinks Regulus is gone for the night, regulus thinks he’s lost the plot until he investigates
Regulus is pretty sure he’s going crazy. Well — no, he’s already pretty sure he’s gone crazy, but now he thinks he might be haunted.
He typically gets off work around three in the morning these days; he’s been running the university’s nighttime radio station for the last few months and he really does enjoy it. It’s a perfect gig for an insomniac business student who hates his major and wishes he could change to musical theory but has no choice in the matter.
However, the last two weeks have been testing his patience. Every single morning when he’s closing up the studio, the light in one of the back recording rooms is on. Which wouldn’t be an issue, if he didn’t know for fact that he turned it off. So when he sees it back on again, he growls under his breath and works his way back through the shelves of records and CDs and radio equipment to deal with it once and for all.
His key slides into the lock and he twists the knob, only to open the door and see someone inside. Someone who is not only very much alive and not a ghost, but someone who is also unfortunately very, very familiar to him.
Lo and fucking behold, James Potter is standing with his back to Regulus in the doorway, clunky headphones over his ears, soundboard in front of him on the table, mic by his mouth, and a bring red electric guitar slung over his shoulders.
He has no idea how the hell James managed to get in here, and he knows he should kick him out, but his curiosity is boiling in his veins. He absolutely has to hear this. His brain refuses to accept that James bleeding Potter has any other talents than being an annoying prick that steals people’s brothers.
Regulus can hear James humming a melody he doesn’t know under his breath as he sets up, occasionally picking at his guitar strings, but not plugging it into the amp yet. He checks his watch for some unknown reason, then whatever he sees seems to spur him into actually plugging everything in. Regulus ducks out of the door and goes into the soundbooth where he might be able to hide a bit better. He flips the sound share switch and raises the volume inside the booth so he can hear what James is doing.
Finally, James hits the recording button and starts.
He starts with the melody from earlier. B F# E G#m and F# chords are looped with the soundboard. Then a soft beat gets laid down behind it. There’s a beat up notebook laying open beside the soundboard that James peers at while the simple loop plays in his headphones and inside the booth. He has to admit, he’s already somewhat impressed. He wouldn’t have expected James to get even this far around a sound board. The melody is quite catchy so far as well.
He watches as James steps to the mic and waits for the loop to start again. He’s wholly unprepared for the slightly raspy, sweet voice that comes out of his mouth.
“It’s an empty shell I’m livin’ in,
The doors are always closed,”
The riff he does on the word “closed” makes Regulus smile a bit, it’s not overly showy, it doesn’t quite feel like a “James Potter” type of thing. He’s strumming the same chords softly over the looped ones, but using them as singles. Regulus likes the effect they make. It almost sounds retro-ish, tinny in a way.
“And I spend my weeks,
Losin’ my head, restin’ my bones,
And they say that nothin’s given,
So I guess I’ll get nothin’ at all,”
The lyrics make no sense to him coming from James Potter. He should be talking about how great his life is, or how he “rescued” his best friend from his shit one, or something of the sort. Regulus doesn’t understand where these lyrics are coming from.
“And I’ll accept defeat,
Cause you can’t swing,
When the fight’s lost,”
A matching riff on “spend” and “accept” and Regulus likes the choice he makes there. The beat he laid down earlier comes in, and the music is deceptively upbeat for the lyrics so far.
“You know,
Can’t see the grass getting greener, cause
out here ain’t nothin’ but blue, and your eyes
Blood red, the high helps a little, but
Everyone you meet’s just passin’ through,
White lies take all of the colour from you,
Most nights you don’t sleep at all,
And you black out blind and hide,
Is there any wonder no one ever really tries to call?”
Regulus hates to admit it, but he’s a bit awestruck with the way James’ lyrics flow. The use of colour analogies in reference to, what Regulus assumes, emotional states and reactions. The lyrics and backing music are so diametrically opposed, it almost makes no sense, but it feels like the song is almost speaking separately from James singing it. Like it’s almost mocking the happy person singing it with its helplessness.
“And you say,
Ooo, sometimes I feel like an animal,
Ooo, I climb so high,
Just to feel the fall,
And let it go,
So,
Look me in the eyes,
Am I someone else?
Ooo, sometimes I feel like an animal, an animal, an animal,”
And that strikes a visceral pang deep in Regulus’s chest. How often has he felt the same way? Licking his wounds from behind the bars of his gilded cage, feeling like he has no more bodily autonomy than that of a pet. He wonders why James knows that same feeling.
The beat phases out with a push of a button on the soundboard. James is back to strumming single chords like he did in the beginning, and the second verse rolls off James’ tongue.
“And I always have a vision,
But I always let it go,
And then I feel too weak,
And it’s too much,
And it’s too close,”
The beat comes back again, but this time James adds some snare into it. He’s bobbing along with the beat with his entire upper body, bending over his guitar. The loop petal gets pressed and he’s back on his guitar as the pre-chorus rolls in again.
“Can’t see the grass getting greener, cause,
Out here ain’t nothin’ but blue, and your eyes,
Blood red, the high helps a little,
But everyone you meet’s just passin’ through,
White lies take all of the colour from you,
Most nights you don’t sleep at all,
And you black out blind and hide,
Is there any wonder no one really tries to call?
And you say,”
Regulus finds himself nodding along with it, humming the melody under his breath as he goes into the chorus. James is somehow dancing around the booth, still strumming, still singing, and managing not to trip over the cords on the ground. Regulus can’t help but grin at the silliness of it all.
“Ooo, sometimes I feel like an animal,
I climb so high,
Just to feel the fall,
And let it go,
So look me in the eye,
Am I someone else?
Ooo, sometimes I feel like an animal, an animal, an animal,”
This time when he goes into the pre-chorus, the beat and melody stays, but he brings the volume down on it, and slows it down to the same tempo and cadence of the first and second verses. Regulus can feel that this one means more to the song, like the first two allowed the listener to get caught up in the upbeat vibes, but now they had to come back to Earth and hear what he was saying.
“Can’t see the grass getting greener, cause,
Out here ain’t nothin’ but blue, and your eyes,
Blood red, the high helps a little,
But everyone you meet’s just passin’ through,”
There’s a up stress on “meet” in this one, and it pulls at the raspiness in James’ voice. Makes it sound raw and exposed, despite being in the studio. Regulus refuses to acknowledge the gooseflesh rising on his arms at it.
James cuts the beat entirely, holding his guitar and getting closer to the mic guard. He strums slowly and quietly, letting his voice hold the remnants of the melody. It’s soft and slow and quiet.
“You say,
Ooo sometimes I feel like an animal,
Ooo I climb so high,
Just to feel the fall,
And let it go,”
James builds the beat back up with a slow slide of a leveller, then let’s it cascade back in.
“So, look me in the eyes,
Am I someone else?
Ooo sometimes I feel like an animal,
An animal, an animal,”
James plays the recording back, listening intently to it, before nodding and beginning to pack his stuff up. Regulus makes like a bandit and rushing out, barely remembering to lock the door to the building behind him. He wants to stick around to see where the hell James is managing to get in from, but he doesn’t want to get caught snooping around business that is decidedly not his own.
As he’s walking back to his dorm, he realises he’s humming James’ song under his breath. The lyrics leave his lips in little puffs of white air in the cold night. He knows that song is going to be stuck in his head for at least a week. He wishes he could play it on the station on his next shift. He’d probably indulge himself and play it a few times.
He thinks nothing of the scene he’d witnessed the night before during his classes, spares no thought of being caught in his observation, convinced he’d been quiet and quick enough to avoid detection. But when he sits down at his station, ready to start his 11pm broadcast, a redbull, blueberry muffin — his go to snack for work from the student centre — and a flashdrive with a note sits on his desktop. The handwriting is sloppy, but undeniably familiar from the letters Regulus had seen sent to his house over the years before Sirius left.
Regulus, it reads.
Seemed like you enjoyed this one last night. You can play it if you want, Track 4 is the one, just don’t mention it’s me who made it, if you don’t mind. There’s a couple others on there if you’re curious. Come out of the booth next time.
- JFP
P.S. text Sirius back, would you? He’s driving us all mad with all his whinging about you hating him again.
Regulus can’t help but laugh at the post script. He wasn’t aware that his brother’s friends were even aware of his existence, let alone his reemergence into Sirius’ life now that his parents aren’t aware of his every moment and breath. Nevertheless, he shoots a quick text off to his drama queen of a brother before he sets up to air.
As the “LIVE” light flicks on, his radio persona slips over him like a second skin, “Good evening, everyone,” he says quietly into the mic, “Welcome to Hogwarts University’s late night radio channel. My name is Leo and I’ll be your host for the night. Whether you’re headed to bed, up late studying, or trying to avoid the inevitable doom of exams coming up by starring into the void, we’ll have something for you.”
He can pretty much see Evan and Barty rolling their eyes at him from their dorm room, both of them some of his daily listeners along with the rest of their friend group, but he thinks he’s clever. At least he finds himself funny.
“I’ve got a bit of a treat for you all tonight. A new indie artist on the block to get us started, this is “Animal” by The Deerest Marauder. You’ll have to let me know if you like it as much as I do. As always, leave your feedback, song requests, and late night brain rot on the Instagram at HULateNight_Leo,”
It had taken him a bit to come up with a clever artist name for James. JFP was too obvious, Prongs was a dead giveaway seeing as Sirius wouldn’t know what an inside voice was if it hit him in the face and the entire campus knows James’ nickname. Regulus remembers Sirius calling their little band of chaos “the marauders” back in year ten. So from there, he’d come up with his own stupid pun. Again, at least he thinks he’s funny.
Flashdrive inserted into his laptop, Regulus clicks on Track 4, realising belatedly that he’d accidentally named James’ song for him, and presses play.
If he plays “Animal” and the other four tracks on the flashdrive several times throughout the night, and leaves the light on to the back recording booth before he leaves that night, it’s no one’s business but his own.

Last Monday of the Week 2023-09-11
Oh shit that was today
Listening: Apocalyptica is a band that continues to perform because we love it when some guys do crazy shit to a cello. They put a performance of one of my favourites, Bittersweet, on YouTube the other day.
youtube
Songs that absolutely ROCKET me back to being 15 and listening to Apocalyptica on loop while practicing for the Lego Robotics competitions.
Reading: Trying and failing to track down the full set of papers by O. P. Kimball on "The Prevention of Simple Goiter in Man", he's the guy who was responsible for a serious government push on iodine supplementation, a topic I occasionally go insane about. There's 3-4 papers he wrote on his initial studies on the student population of some high school in the early 1900's but for some reason the first paper is very hard to find. Fascinating stuff though. This paper is the best of the originals I could find, and the next one is a decent retrospective from the 60's:
It was known before this that iodine was needed for thyroid function, before even the mid-1800's, but Kimball experimentally showed that it's actually really easy to provide enough iodine to people as a supplement to completely eliminate a huge source of disability and disease, and the successive work seems to be what drove grand-scale iodine supplementation which is one of the most effective public health operations pretty much ever.
Tumblr media
Yeah.
Watching: The Mummy was up for Movie Night, a rare break from terrible movies for an actually good one. Few movies so rich in impeccable comedic timing and physical comedy.
Making: Now that I have a solution for storing my filament, I am slowly returning to printing, currently doing a few test runs to figure out how to make reasonably dimensionally accurate parts.
Tumblr media
Once I get everything to size I can print the actual product, which is an adapter to run a coffee grinder on an electric screwdriver. There's such a tiny difference in the dimensions it feels unfair that you can't just drive it directly. I suppose the other option would be to mill down the driven hex on the grinder directly, but. I don't want to try and do that.
Playing: Breath of the Wild, I am dedicated to actually finishing this game. Beat the Naboris beast, you can check the tag for more details. Thunderblight Ganon was easy but tedious.
Tools and Equipment: I finally have a whetstone for sharpening my kitchen and pocket knives, and I have to recommend having some kind of decent knife sharpening situation.
Draw throughs can be good, I frequently hand them out as gifts. The main difficulty is that good draw throughs are hard to find, and not as useful if you also need to maintain other tools like pocket knives in addition to kitchen knives. I like the Worksharp Kitchen Edge, it's what I got for my parents.
There's some cool fancy sharpening systems that attach the stone to a sliding bar for highly reproducible grinds, but I have enough experience to use stones and they are a lot of fun.

I present to thy, my contribution to the Pacific Rim x ROTTMNT crossover on Twitter/IG/Tumblr!
I imagine they work in two pairs; Raph and Leo pilot a mech called the Hamato Fighter while Donnie and Mikey pilot another called Metalhead! So have Chaosduo for now, not sure when I'll do Raph and Leo heho
-
◇ Donatello ◇
Alongside Mikey, Donnie pilots the jaegar known as Metalhead. He was the one who made all the blueprints and features of the mech, and participated in constructing it as well. He favours logically assessing the situation first and concluding what kind of kaiju they're fighting before he decides to make a move. Sometimes he tends to go overboard, but he doesn't focus on completely killing the opposing kaiju unless it deals or has dealt harm to himself or his brothers. He likes to take any remaining remnants of the kaiju to research and examine in his lab, often tinkering and messing around with pieces of kaiju skin or flesh, much to his eldest brother's chagrin.
Although cold, sarcastic and brutal, he does care for his brothers and is especially protective of his co-pilot and youngest brother. He will do anything it takes to keep him safe. Of course, he blames himself after Mikey got significant nerve damage during one of their missions, and is currently hellbent on finding the still alive kaiju that caused it in the first place.
☆Michelangelo☆
The self-proclaimed 'wild card' of the tag team, Mikey pilots the jaegar Metalhead alongside Donnie with as much enthusiasm [and dread] as the next person. He enjoys kicking kaiju butt and yelling random catchphrases while he's at it, his favourite being "Dr. Delicate Touch sends his regards!". He was the one who put stickers all over their shared mech, as well as a few splotches and specks of paint. He enjoys accompanying Donnie in his tests regarding the pieces of kaiju they find and even helped him make breakthroughs that eventually helped fighting against newer kaiju. He prefers analyzing the fighting and behaviour pattern of the opposing kaiju and calculating an ambush or surprise attack before going for the charge.
Being the youngest he often finds himself constantly babied and overprotected by his older brothers, who worries over him not being able to protect himself in the midst of a battle. He can do so just fine though, having exceeding expectations multiple times. After gaining nerve damage in a recent mission however, he started to worry the same for himself...
♤Metalhead♤
Equipped with multiple weapons and thick armour, the jaegar Metalhead has proven itself a worthy enemy to many a kaiju. It has a retractable chain-like weapon that resembles a kusarigama and a bō-like baton that can deliver quite the shock to it's opponent, both figuratively and literally. It's thick metal coating allows it to withstand heavy blows from it's foe and deliver them back. Two of it's three arms are chunky, allowing for scale-crushing blows and punches to be delivered with ease, whilst the third arm is lighter and clawed, articulated and able to twist in order to hold back anything from behind. The third arm is operated by Mikey, and the second by Donnie, whilst the right arm is operated by both pilots. Metalhead also has big lights on it's shoulders and torpedo missiles kept within hidden compartments of it's armour, alongside a shell-like covering on it's back, which houses numerous missiles and serves as defense.
Although robust in size and well-equipped to deal with more difficult kaiju, it's 'shell' restricts mobility, requiring the mech to move upto the knees to be able to bend. It's third, clawed arm is lighter than the other two, making it easier to break or damage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Notes: I am not good at designing mechs, so you will see plenty of flaws! Also, the length of the kusarigama and the amount of volts generated by the baton is completely wrong, I just added them to look smart imo. The chains' length is three-fourth of Metalhead's height and the baton can generate enough electricity to stun a Catergory-3 kaiju!]

Anyways, without further delay...
We are now ready for Ms Dryl
-----
Catra watched the florescent lights off the waiting room flicker passively, counting the hertz of the electric current powering the device. She checked intermittently to her right, seeing magenta hair flip and flap around one of those big wooden fidget cubes usually left in doctor offices. Entrapta's tongue was sticking out of her mouth as she worked on the device, loosing a few screws here and there while adding an electrical motor and wiring it up to the wall plug. Catra looked back towards the desk as a door opened from the internal part of the building.
"Hello we are now ready for a-" the assistant started to call out. She glanced forlornly at the office's newly mechanized enrichment device, before continuing.
"We are... now ready for Ms Dryl."
Catra began to rise up out of her seat, Entrapta appearing and taking her arm to help the girl up before she could even stand properly. Catra nodded at the assistant as she opened the door for the two of them. Entrapta skipped with her legs while keeping her torso and arm stable, or mostly stable, via her pigtails. They walked a little ways down a hallway, Catra glanced at the various signs and diagrams outside the rooms as Entrapta pulled out her voice recorder and started logging the details for future reference of the appointment. They were finally directed into a larger room, clearly serving multiple functions. Inside was a standard set of chairs, a height and weight measurement device with blood pressure measuring tools, and a medical recliner presumably positioned so the doctor could easily access patients.
Catra took a seat in one of the regular chairs as the assistant sat across from her, now opening a program for medical records.
"Now Ms Dryl can you answer some basic questions for me about- what- Ms Dryl!" The assistant asked exasperatedly as she caught sight of Entrapta already measuring her own height and weight with the available tools.
"Don't worry I'm just checking your devices, standard procedure!" Entrapta called out, doing just about every test the tools were equipped to do and some tests they weren't.
The assistant sighed and committed to ignoring the commotion going on with the rest of the room. Entrapta tested the full range of the medical recliner, sorted through the drawers to ensure everything that would be needed was available, and made her way over to the other side of the room to investigate one particularly large machine.
Catra focused on the assistant.
"Now I believe in a prior appointment the doctor took some reference tests, were those readings emailed over- ah yes thank you."
Catra leaned back in her chair after having offered the manila folder over. She felt the thick cardboard esque material slide through her fingers under the weight of the exceptional plurality of the contents.
The assistant accepted the folder with a nod, starting to enter in new information and double check prior readings. Catra spotted a miniature trophy on the desk. It belonged to the doctor most likely. Or had belonged, she thought, as the faux award labeled 'Best Dad' began to slide off the desk. And then some of the thumbtacks. The assistant brought her hands to her face and took some deep breaths as the electric hum of the MRI machine powered on, crescendoed, and then blew a fuse and took out the lights. The assistant lurched around to look at Entrapta. The princess hid something behind her arms, and then lights came back on as if on cue while the MRI machine taking the other half of the room returned to standby mode.
The trophy, thumbtacks, and other tiny metal items such as paper clips fell humorously to the floor.
Fortunately for the Princess, there was a knock on the door to the room. A man turned the door knob and opened the room slightly.
"Hello, I'm ready for you now Ms Dryl?" He called out, before opening it fully.
Catra recognized him by voice, the sea elf's tall stature and kind features turning to a curious smile. Perhaps wondering if the office would still be there upon his arrival.
The assistant was up and out of her seat in the next breath, mumbling both thanks and apology to Doctor Lazuli as she made her hasty retreat.
He didn't seem particularly surprised by the reaction and merely entered the room, offering Catra a handshake . Catra felt like cool water washed over as she went to take it, about to exchange pleasantries when Entrapta reappeared at her side. The Princess took his instead and said her portion of the expected smalltalk in half a breath, using the rest of it to begin drilling the doctor on various bits of research and information that had been published since the last time they'd met.
Impressively, the doctor took it in stride.  He patiently explained the various findings in relation to the medical field and exchanged his honest opinions, as far as she could tell. Catra felt the atmosphere and social etiquette of it all  begin to press down on her fur, and she raised an arm to scratch her neck. The princess took notice, glancing over to Catra.
"We should start," Entrapta said.
The doctor nodded, taking a step back. He stood half a meter behind Entrapta as the latter helped Catra up. She allowed herself to be escorted, Entrapta's touch so gentle as she prepared the measuring tools for Catra with her pigtails as they walked over to it.
"By comparing my measurements in my own data to the office's tools, I found them to be at least ninety nine point nine percent accurate! It appears they took my suggestions into account, thankfully," Entrapta explained as she took the air pump powered blood measuring device and wrapped the material around Catra's arm. Doctor Lazuli supervised from over her shoulder as Entrapta did various other tests, rambling all the way. Catra felt a secure calm, certain that her input was no longer needed. She let herself be led to the recliner, back to the chair, and then to the other side of her room. Satisfied with doing nothing more than listening to the low frequency hiss of the generator powering the machines. Catra's eyelids drooped slightly, finding herself laying down. But she felt the cold steel at the base of her neck, stopping her from reclining.
Doctor Lazuli glanced over, calling out to her.
"My apologies, Ms Dryl, the adjustments to the machine to allow a metal object to be present require that it be symmetrically centered. Please adjust the cushioning as needed to do so."
Catra nodded imperceptibly, acknowledging the comment. Lifting her torso with her legs to get a better position. Entrapta quieted, dropping back to normal height from her pigtails as she let the doctor get to work. The princess couldn't stop herself from fidgeting with her hands. She had been able to justify taking the basic metrics herself, that was easy enough, but she specialized in machines. Her friends had always handed any vaguely science related task to her anyways, but that didn't change the fact that this situation was only halfway in Entrapta's expertise.
Catra allowed herself to close her eyes as she settled onto her back. The device no longer dug into her neck quite as badly. The machine powered on, the magnetic fields around her generating noise as they did so. Catra did her best to tune out the conversation. But it was difficult to do so while also needing to acknowledge prompts.
The screen above her face lit up, simple words and sentences for her to read aloud coming up. She responded automatically, no longer feeling like she was the one speaking. Catra observed herself following instructions as if from within. Only dimly aware of it when sentences turned to images. Most of them were old. With a consistent FOV and magnetic artifacts visible from the file. Most of these had been taken by Emily. They started simple. Images of the fright zone, stills of Entrapta or Scorpia. There were images of Catra too, though in most of them she'd been attempting to escape the frame.
Not all of the photos were so simple. As the tests went on, they intermittently included other figures. The horde trio. Other cadets. And eventually, Shadow Weaver. Catra felt her body reflexively stiffen. An old mechanism she hadn't quite managed to remove. But it didn't carry the mental follow through that had once been there. She simply continued to verbalize whatever came to mind as the images flashed before her eyes.
Now there were images that Catra hadn't been there for. The ones Emily had taken with the rebellion. They passed by quickly, but not before giving Catra the first glimpse of white chassis's and green glowing lights.
The rest of it all started to meld together, Catra returning to attention, even while laying down, as the images of her Lord's flagship vessel came into view. These were poorly focused and at various inconvenient angles, owing to the tablet having been passed between Entrapta and Bow at the time. The rest of the room was so distant now, the real Entrapta no longer in Catra's periphery. Her vision once so vast and multifaceted, now her glowing green eyes saw only what was in front of her. But mostly, they saw glimpses of what had been within.
Stranded rays of light shimmered, not in darkness but in bright.
Varied intensities distinct to each.
Yet blinding outside the symphony.
Wavelengths encoded, shared and humming gentle tunes.
The ocean caressed and nurtured, accepting and free.
Harmonized and true, each part played. All but one part of-
Catra resurfaced.
Entrapta spoke out instructions, snapping her fingers when no response was given. The catgirl hummed complaint, attempting to close her eyes. But the scientist was ready, turning on a light to elicit an ocular dilation response.
The words started to become sensible to her brain, barely. And Catra complied best she could. At first simply mumbling of assent or dissent. Eventually managing to grab onto the physical sensations around her.
The coarse grain of wood.
The cool metal of the bench's armrests against her fur.
Catra started to respond on purpose, rather than automatically.
"Do you remember the current king of Brightmoon?" Entrapta asked.
"Bow Brightmoon." She responded.
"And the queen?"
"Glimmer Brightmoon. Or. Sparkles."
"And... Your name?" Entrapta asked, with a little lilt to her voice.
Catra smiled. Finally easing out of her rigid stance. She leaned onto her nebulously defined partner.
"Catra of Dryl," she said simply.
Entrapta pulled Catra into a close embrace, rocking forward and backwards ever so slightly. But she knew Catra liked the faint movement. The wind ruffled the leaves around them, yet to fall to autumn. It was the one consistency, every time they came here.
Catra didn't need to say thanks, even though she was once again verbal. This time when she closed her eyes, she felt a comforting darkness close in. But it didn't hold her half as tightly as Entrapta did.
Not by a long shot.

6 Key Purposes of Test and Tag in the Automotive Industry
In the fast-paced automotive industry, safety, efficiency, and compliance are paramount to ensuring smooth operations. One critical process that contributes to these factors is the testing and tagging of electrical equipment. Whether in vehicle manufacturing or automotive repairs, regularly testing and tagging electrical tools and devices is essential for maintaining a safe and productive workplace. Here are some purposes of test and tag Devonport services within the automotive sector:
Ensure Electrical Safety
Test and tag procedures involve inspecting and testing electrical equipment to identify faults such as exposed wires, damaged plugs, or malfunctioning circuits. In the automotive industry, where power tools, diagnostic equipment, and charging systems are heavily used, early detection of electrical issues helps prevent accidents and malfunctions. Remember that faulty electrical equipment can pose a risk of electric shock to workers. By regularly testing and tagging devices such as power tools, welding equipment, and battery chargers, the process helps identify potential shock hazards.
Compliance with Safety Standards
Workplace health and safety regulations instruct that businesses regularly test and tag electrical equipment to ensure it is safe for use. Test and tag helps automotive businesses meet these legal requirements, reducing the risk of non-compliance, fines, or legal action. With the increasing use of electric vehicles (EVs) and related high-voltage equipment in the industry, keep in mind that compliance with safety standards for high-voltage systems is essential. These  procedures help ensure that high-voltage tools, chargers, and diagnostic equipment are safe to operate, aligning with safety standards for handling high-voltage electricity.
Identify Potential Faults
Test and tag procedures include a visual inspection of power cords and plugs. In the automotive industry, cables can become frayed or damaged. Identifying these faults early helps prevent electrical shocks or equipment failure. Beyond a visual inspection, this service involves using specialised testing equipment to detect internal faults like poor insulation or leakage. These issues can go unnoticed without testing but pose significant risks if left unchecked. Regular testing ensures that internal faults are identified and addressed before they lead to equipment failure or safety hazards.
Prevent Downtime
Regular test and tag practices ensure that electrical equipment functions correctly. By maintaining these tools in optimal condition, the risk of sudden equipment failure is reduced, allowing workshops to continue operations without interruption. In the automotive industry, especially with the rise of electric vehicles, high-voltage systems are becoming more common. Test and tag procedures ensure that high-voltage equipment operates safely and efficiently. This factor reduces the chance of equipment failure or hazards that could disrupt work.
Maintain Equipment Efficiency
Overheating can occur due to electrical faults in motors or wiring, which can lead to reduced performance and eventual equipment failure. Test and tag procedures help identify overheating risks by checking for electrical imbalances, loose connections, or worn-out components, qualifying for timely maintenance that prevents efficiency loss. Safe equipment prevents accidents and allows workers to operate tools more confidently and efficiently. Regular test and tag inspections also ensure that equipment is safe to use, enabling workers to focus on their tasks without worrying about malfunctioning tools or potential hazards, improving productivity and efficiency.
Build Trust with Clients
Clients are more likely to trust an automotive service provider that prioritises safety. By regularly testing and tagging all electrical equipment, you show that safety is a top priority. This gives clients peace of mind, knowing that the tools and equipment used to service their vehicles are safe and reliable. Conducting these procedures demonstrates that your business follows industry standards and best practices. Clients value professionalism, and knowing that your shop takes preventive safety measures enhances your reputation as a trustworthy and responsible service provider.
Testing and tagging electrical equipment in the automotive industry is more than just a safety requirement because it is a proactive measure that enhances operational efficiency, protects workers, and ensures compliance with legal standards. As the industry evolves, particularly with the rise of electric vehicles, the importance of testing and tagging will continue to grow, making it a vital component of automotive safety and success.
