Carmen Electra looks like Khloe Kardashian, Kim Kardashian looks like Megan Fox, so on & so forth… It’s bizarre how almost all women who mess with their face look identical now. They actually pay to have their face warped into a Bratz doll 😳 Why would you want that for yourself? They’re all clones of the same doll. I wonder if they even realize this. It’s so unnatural looking & sad
Tumblr media
How did the highly filtered, pillow faced alien, Bratz Doll look become the norm for so many? It’s like we’re living in a modern day “Eye of the Beholder” Twilight Zone episode. The truly beautiful & rare are those who *haven’t* messed with their face. Embrace your individual beauty. Everyone has it. Allow yourself to age gracefully
And most importantly, always remember, once you mess with your face, you can never go back. What will these clones do when this weird looking trend ends? It’s like 90s brows that never grew back only x1000 🙀

Something I don't see enough people talking about is how Deadpool and Wolverine isn't so much a starting point as it is a send off to an era of movies of which we will never see again.
I recently watched the first Xmen movie and it feels so completely different to what we have today. It was almost like it was embarrassed to call itself a superhero movie and instead was going for sleek action movie, which was quite popular in the late 90's and early 20-aughts. It felt like everyone was wearing black jumpsuits because they were afraid they wouldn't be taken seriously by mainstream movie goers. (Another common theme of the time period).
Jump to 24 years later and it is a very different world. Not only do we have grown people crying in theaters over Wolverine's classic yellow suit, but people went wild when he pulled on his mask...could you see people in 2000 having that kind of reaction to that mask? No. The movie would have been dead on arrival. Comic fans would have ate the shit up. But I don't think mainstream audiences were ready for that sincere of a choice in wardrobe. It took us 24 years to get to where Hugh Jackman could wear that suit, and I think it was worth the wait.
The credit scene clips from the past 25ish years of Xmen movies and other Fox productions made me cry, not just bc of the song choice (the universal song used to invoke nostalgia) but because you saw how much they loved making those movies. That they were always fun to make. And even though no one had yet cracked the formula on how to put superheros on film, they put their whole pussies into it. And some results were great and some we still kinda use as punchlines to this day. And yet, both were represented in Deadpool and Wolverine in a loving way. Electra was not nearly as beloved as Blade. But I still heard both characters getting a cheer when they appeared.
It is possible they will make a second Deadpool and Wolverine movie. But I don't think it was the intention. Ryan Reyolds and Hugh Jackman both met on the set of Xmen Origins: Wolverine. Ryan was so taken with his character he spent the next 7ish years trying to force it into existence. Whereas Hugh spent those same 7ish years playing the same character and was happy to put him to rest. It just so happens they both wanted to make this movie together. And bc they were some of the original actors from the beginning of the genre, the movie ended up being about their friendship, with some sendoffs to old favorites who maybe never got to be in the limelight the way they did.
This movie deftly mixes sincerity with humor. It doesn't make fun of the audience for what they like. Instead it respected our love for these characters and their stories. No matter how weird or ridiculous they may seem on the surface, there is a heart and a love there between writers, actors, and audience.
And they got that. Shawn Levy, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman really got it. And so this movie was a love letter to all superhero movies: the ones we hold dear to our hearts regardless of how "succesful" they were.
It is like what Movies with Mikey says, "Every movie is a miracle," and Deadpool and Wolverine celebrate that.

Tribute
I laughed almost non-stop watching Deadpool & Wolverine. The crass and gross and the ridiculous are mixed in with just a bit of clever. And then there's the pure joy of watching to almost indestructible dudes killing each other in violent ways (it's a WB cartoon kind of fun).
But as always it's the layer below the humour that really hits. And in a prefect Deadpool way this one worked both in the movie but also on the meta level. It's the story of a failed superhero that the Avengers didn't want and whose girlfriend left. Here trying to save his world to save his friends. He gets a second chance at being who he always wanted to be but the price is abandoning everyone he came up with. MCU and Sacred Timeline is one person deal. But this is where Multiverse pays off. It means he can keep his friends and timeline. He just has to fight cybernocracy that would rather dismantle it instantly first.
And it's a story of a fallen studio which movies lost the audience and couldn't find the right way to tell it's stories (with extra layer of Disney's Marvel being on precipice of that too now). All it's properties buried and replaced for a new shinier thing. We could move on and only acknowledge the pieces that haven't been tarnished. And yet, this movie looks back at it all, and brings back the discarded ridiculed. Including the ones we never even got. Using Void to discard them and Alioth to eat them into oblivion is such a prefect metaphor you'd think it was invented for this Film. It's a prefect integration of MCU ideas for the plot of this one story.
The whole movie is practically a tribute to the early days of Marvel and superhero movies that created the momentum that MCU then built it's 30 billion empire on. This is what makes each cameo count. It isn't there just for a joke or Easter Egg moment but it ties to the theme of the story, We are revisiting the forgotten heroes, the fallen ones, the ones who never got to be. And if we are lucky the ones who still might be (please, please let us keep Daphne Keen).
It's also a reminder of how long both Jackman and Reynolds have been in this. The first X-Men movie came out 24 years ago. Reynolds was in Blade: Trinity 20 years ago. I don't think it's an accident a lot of those cameos went to the beginnings with Pyro and Electra. And even with the MCU actors reminding us they started in Fox as Evans came back as Johnny Storm. Even Jon Favreau cameo as Happy Hogan was a reminder he was once Foggy Nelson in Daredevil. This was reunion movie in more ways than one.
And the behind the scenes of those movies, the whole history of Fox Marvel films really hit you in the end. Even the failures like the last Fantastic Four. Even to the X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the Deadpool abomination there. This is what got us here. This is for all the fun we had over the years with these characters and superheroes in general. This was the start.
Of course, Deadpool wouldn't be Deadpool if they didn't desecrate and made fun of the very thing they were paying tribute too. Both the initial fight and any reference to Fox made sure of that. Reminding us that even the best parts of the past shouldn't be sacred. You should build new stories and not be afraid to change. There will be new Blade. And a new Johnny Storm. And maybe a new Deadpool and Wolverine one day too (long, long time from now apparently 😋).
And new universes give you new opportunities to meet people. Maybe even find a romance like B-15 and Peter. Or become a villain. I'm not sure how I feel about the Doom Announcement but let's see. This movie reminded us it's just one more "same face - different person" case in this multiverse.

IF YOU THINK I'M PRETTY | dad's best friend
Tumblr media
Up close, he’s a pastiche of a daydream. The kind of face that sticks and lingers. Aged like a fine liquor. The turbid guitar riff you hear from the bathroom. The devil’s hour unspooling across your shoulders when you chase the moon with your feet; the sin you wadded up into a piece of paper to tuck into the cigarette case. Sex. A sandpaper kiss. The scent of gunsmoke. Motor oil across knuckles.
preview
“I know,” you tell him, blinking. “I know who you are.”
He blinks back at you. Amused. “Do you?”
(No. Undeniably, no.)
You clear your throat when he lets your hand go. “Enough. So. Are you in the… like, special forces, then?”
His eyes linger on you for a little longer. He smiles. Leans in a little closer— you can’t help the way the peach fuzz on the scruff of your neck stands when his breath wades into your hair, against your ear. Can’t help the electricity that rides across your synapses.
“That’s need-to-know.”
(On WeHeartIt, an older man is calligraphy soused in the rose-tinted lens of Valencia. This whole scandalous endeavor of sleeping with an older man— luxuriant in lyrics and picsart stickers. Pinterest boards. Sleep with your professor; that’s a Melanie song— silver fox is in like bows, and leopard print, and the awkward twee of teenagehood making rebirth.)
You fan the heat that congeals you off with laughter that nearly sounds nervous. Clear your throat again. Take a drink that burns down the back of your throat. Cross your legs a little tighter.
“Right. Secrets.”
(A girl on TikTok came onto your feed discussing how she got into being a sugar baby, what websites to use, how to talk to them— it reminds you of the link your friend sent you last month on the Sprinkle Sprinkle lady; look at her, she knows what she’s doing!)
He hums. The kind of rumble that stems from his chest. With the dearth, you nearly feel it in your bones, rattling the junctures of your joints. This— you’re imagining it. You swallow.
“If I told you, I’d have to kill you, I reckon,” Harry says. Jokes. It’s wry. Acidic. The kind of dryness you expect off a man of his stature.
(You always thought it was a little sick. Gross. Lolita-steeped. The out-of-touch Electra pillared on the foundation of a taboo— dad looked the other way in disinterest and tucked his affections behind the cage bars of his bones, so now I try to pick at the lock on yours with my thumb.
Only, you have a wonderful relationship with your father, and the man leaning into you from the corner of the bar— letting his eyes roll across your body and your stupid, muzzy face, limned in shadows off the shoddy bar lightning— is not like that at all.)
He blinks. The eye contact is unrelenting. Almost stifling. You nearly choke on your own spit when the corner of his mouth ticks and he tacks on, “...Wouldn’t want to put down a pretty thing like you.”
(Because Harry is older like secrets and cicatrix. Like a gun in the drawer of a nightstand with a bible. The smoke that lingers off a bonfire. The leaden maelstrom on the horizon of the shore, where the waves are still placidly lapping.
Riding on that hairline fracture of just enough stay away and come a little closer. Skirting the border, where the head of a palisade overlooks the rift of a bad decision.)

Oooh sure, I went down the Leccywatt route if that’s okay! I’ve never written 24!Lectra before, so I hope this is okay :D was a fun new thing to try. I hope I wrote them in character, please ignore any egregious OOC-ness.
✨Want a mini fic? Send me an ask!✨
His placement at the door to the shed has become muscle memory, these days. Admittedly, Killerwatt is used to this kind of monotony - enjoys it, actually. The silence means a significant lack of rabid fans trying to scrabble for an ounce of Electra's precious time, or press demanding answers to inane questions they could have simply asked the last interviewer.
The quiet is relaxing, calm; he must admit, he's getting a bit too used to it at this yard. For all its uncouthness, the rolling stock here are simple, and once they managed to control themselves around Electra, most of the engines are either polite or civilised enough to leave them be. The few that aren’t have been dispatched by Killerwatt personally enough times for them to know better and to learn from their mistakes.
Much like the yard outside, the electrics shed is quiet. Most of the other components are off today, required at various events and shows around the capital, but Electra requested Killerwatt personally to remain by their side whilst their other aides took care of business. As expected, frankly, as Electra is still recovering from the damage sustained in that race against the rusting tank engine and that foul-smelling diesel.
Watching Electra stretched out in front of the large floor to ceiling window, half repaired wiring sparking in the shadows cast by their own frame, he knows he should have stepped in.
In the light of the setting sun, their silhouette is one that ought to be framed; a picture of elegance, with their legs stretched out to one side across the chaise longe whilst leaning on their elbow. Volta had very excellently secured them a very nice shed, far away from the rest of the rabble, with a beautiful window that looked out onto the city before them that glittered like stars across the valley, and Electra was incredibly fond of gazing at the view as if it were a piece of fine art.
“I can feel you watching me, my sweet,” Electra suddenly calls, voice as smooth as glass, and it knocks Killerwatt out of a trance he didn’t realise he was in, “can I help you with anything?”
“Nothing, syr,” Killerwatt confirms, voice as even as he can make it, “merely wondering if you were comfortable.”
“As I can be.” Electra slowly swings to their wheels, stretching out their damaged leg carefully as they do so. “You sound as if you were deep in rumination, Killerwatt - I’m interested to hear your thoughts.”
He needs to remember this. There is no lying to Electra.
“I was thinking about how quiet it is,” Killerwatt states - a half truth, admittedly, but not a whole lie, “and how grateful I am that this yard has learned its place - you need rest, Syr, and you wouldn’t get that with a rabble at your door.”
“Quite right, too,” Electra adds, voice distant as if lost in thoughts of their own, and they take one last long look out the window before making their way over to Killerwatt’s post. Even hobbling slightly, they’re a picture of elegance, of style, LEDs faintly glowing in the stark white light of the room. They tower over Killerwatt as they get closer, angled face casting sharp shadows beneath them, and Killerwatt has to hold a breath as to not shudder from the closeness.
Every component wonders if one day they’ll be lucky enough to have Electra’s eye, even if just for a beat of time. Volta received a grateful kiss once, at a previous championship, and she did not silence herself about it for weeks.
“How lucky is one then, to have such an attentive security guard to teach them as such?” They tease lowly, one spindly hand reaching up to stroke Killerwatt’s jaw agonisingly slowly, “I fear I do not tell you how I appreciate you as regularly as I should.”
There’s that smirk on their face, akin to a fox toying with prey, that makes Killerwatt’s internal systems speed up and whir.
“It is enough to know that we are appreciated,” Killerwatt returns modestly, and hopes to whatever Control is out there that his body does not betray him, “I am simply doing my job, Syr.”
“And you do it ever so well,” Electra purrs, before they put shift their weight, and hiss in pain as their sparking leg objects to the pressure, “apologies, I think-“
“Apologise not, Syr,” Killerwatt interrupts, holding his arms out for Electra to lean on, “can you move?”
Electra cracks a pained smile, the barest hint of a guard coming down. “I got over here, did I not?”
He daren’t offer to help, but the fact that Electra allows him to lead them over to the chaise lounge is telling in and of itself. They never accept help, especially when offered, but apparently their repairs are going so slowly they have no choice. Tenderly, he helps them sit, and they groan in relief as the weight leaves their leg.
“That blasted injury is giving me more jip than anticipated,” Electra hisses in frustration, “that ignorant oil truck has dues owed.”
Killerwatt frowns, concern shooting through them. “Shall I summon Wrench-?”
“No, no,” Electra utters, shaking their head as they hiss through their teeth, “I shall be fine, simply a connection that gets caught in the plexiglass, it will right itself eventually.”
They reach out, laying one delicate hand over where Killerwatt is gripping the couch, and the contact is simmering, sizzling, although Killerwatt isn’t sure if that’s not just his internal computer beginning to work overtime.
“After all,” Electra continues with a smile, strangely genuine, “aren’t you enjoying the quiet?”

Gale Reviews: Deadpool & Wolverine
Tumblr media
(Thanks @knightsweeties for the GP Wolverine art)
Now I happen to be a fan of the merc with the mouth. And so when I found out there would be a 3rd movie I was hyped. When I found out Disney was producing it … less hyped. Mainly because Disney has been hit or miss with superhero movies after Endgame.
But having watched it, And letting my bias die down I can tell you exactly how I feel about this as a movie.
For this review I will be covering the following.
The Plot,
The characters
The “Meta”
The Choreography
The Lesson
Final thoughts.
____________________________________________
The Plot
When it comes to Deadpool, plots are meant to be simple in order to allow for all the shenanigans. Deadpool and Wolverine is a movie that sounds like it will be complicated but is actually surprisingly straight forward.
Wade/Deadpool finds himself in a funk after his shenanigans in the previous movie and failing to join the avengers.
But despite that, he still has a good amount of people in his life. And they celebrate his birthday.
Suddenly the TVA (Time variance authority) appears and pulls him in. Where Paradox tells him he’s being pulled into the main timeline. Deadpool is hyped because it means he gets to be a hero again!
But he finds out that his timeline is dying because the “Anchor being” is dead. Turns out it’s the Wolverine from the Logan movie. And because of this Paradox decides instead of waiting for that timeline to decay he would use a timeripper to destroy it. (A literal time bomb)
Deadpool then goes to try and revive Wolverine. Which he digs up his corpse, and TVA agents appear. (This is the actual start of the film) Deadpool uses Logan’s corpse to kill the TVA agents.
Deadpool then starts traveling the multiverse for different Wolverines (each one beating the s*** out of Wade) before finding the Wolverine that would accompany him for the rest of the movie.
He returns to the TVA to find out that he picked up the Worst Wolverine and that this isn’t how Anchor beings work.
The duo gets tossed into the void. Where they are supposed to get eaten by the Alioth. (Deadpool points out what episode of the show it’s from.) Deadpool and Wolverine meet a bunch of characters thrown into the void (all from 20th century Fox movies) where they eventually meet the main Villain Cassandra nova, Professor Xavier’s twin sister that was removed from the timeline as a baby because she was dangerous.
The duo barely escape and travel to find the “Resistance” in order to fight Cassandra and escape the void.
There they meet Electra, Blade, Gambit (from the unaired tv show), and X-23. The one from Logan.
They eventually go back to fight Cassandra and after a failed assassination attempt on her life by Pyro who was hired by the TVA. DP and Wolverine manage to get back to DP’s Timeline.
Unfortunately Cassandra Also shows up because she is salty with Paradox and decides to use the time ripper to give herself the power to destroy every timeline
Deadpool and Wolverine end up fighting an army of Deadpool variants before being saved by Peter.
They stop the Time ripper with the power of friendship and because of that Cassandra Nova gets ripped apart and Paradox gets arrested by the TVA’s Hunter B-15.
Deadpool gets his timeline restored. Wolverine ends up becoming part of DP’s friend group and it ends with Deadpool reconciling with Vanessa.
Overall it sounds complicated but the movie always does a decent job explaining anything that the viewer would be confused by without slowing down the movie pace. It fits very inline with the Deadpool movie plot lines. Though some scenes did drag on and some things felt like padding. It was a solid plot.
8/10
__________________________________________
The Characters
Deadpool: Ryan Reynolds does arguably his best performance of DP in this movie. I felt like the balance of plot and parody was in top form. There was never a scene where I said “Deadpool wouldn’t do that.” Solid performance and is the most fitting actor for the hero they are portraying. 10/10
Wolverine: Hugh Jackman is the best at what he does and he plays most of the Wolverine variants. His performance as Wolverine in this is second only to his performance in Logan. I love the reveal that this was X man Origins Wolverine. Turning one of my least favorite movies into something I can enjoy. 9/10
Cassandra nova: Emma Corrine’s performance of Xavier’s crazy sister is solid. I love how absolutely vile she is. She is vicious, petty, unhinged and manipulative. You understand why SHE is a threat. And her unhinged mannerisms explain why she doesn’t just kill people right away. She loves to toy with them. But the best part is, her plan is a reaction. If paradox had left her alone, she wouldn’t have even bothered leaving the Void. I love that part. It’s very Maleficent of her. 8/10
Mr.Paradox: he is exactly what you would expect, a disgruntled employee that thinks he knows better than everyone else. He’s slimey, cowardly and thinks he’s smarter than he is. His name also fitting how much of a contradiction he is. He claims he’s doing what’s best for the TVA, yet is going behind their back to do his plan. And his ending scene is *chef’s kiss*. 8/10
The Resistance: Blade, Elektra, X-23, and Gambit are all phenomenal characters. The way they play off of Wade and Wolverine is some solid banter. Though the break out for me was Channing tatum’s gambit. But all of them had their moments. 9/10
Deadpool Corps: From Dogpool to Headpool.I loved each variant of Deadpool. I even liked Nicepool who had the funniest death. Lady Deadpool being portrayed by Blake Lively. And baby pool and kidpool being portrayed by Blake and Ryan’s kids. Lovely. Though Peggy’s performance as Dogpool was AWE-inspiring! Stealing every scene she was in. I think the DP variants were in all the scenes they needed to be in. Not over used. 9/10
Blind Al: Leslie Uggams gives another amazing performance. Top tier and the best character in the movie. Just as important to the Deadpool franchise as Deadpool and Peter. 10/10
Peter: Rob Delaney crushing his role as Peter. He is used the perfect amount. No notes. 10/10
Overall the rest of the supporting cast and cameos were all solid and the casting could not be better.
9/10
__________________________________________
The “Meta”
Deadpool is no stranger to 4th wall breaks. But this is the first movie where the Meta is such a huge part of the plot. The references and used assets of previous movies and shows make up 90% of the movie. Now I want to say that this isn’t distracting… but it kind of is. It makes the film just feel like a 2+ hour 4th wall break. And for some people, that can be jarring.
For me, I enjoyed it and I was expecting it. But to those going in expecting a typical marvel movie. It’s not that.
That being said I like how even if you didn’t know about the properties you can get enough of an explanation to follow what’s going on. I haven’t been keeping up with everything marvel so there were some things I didn’t know. The movie rewards you the more you watched the things it references, but it rarely penalizes your enjoyment if you don’t.
Overall I thought the Meta was fine but a few tweaks could have made it better.
7/10
______________________________________
The Choreography.
This is the best fight scenes I’ve seen in the franchise.
All the fights have interesting gimmicks or styles that it never feels repetitive. It always has something new, gives great drama and suspense. And the fight in the Toyota is one of the most fun fights in marvel.
And that opening sequence maybe my favorite in the franchise.
And that Climax (I almost cried)
Absolutely no notes
10/10
____________________________________________
The lesson
I know how shocking this sounds, but yes, this does have a lesson. It actually has 2 lessons.
The first we learn from Deadpool. That purpose does not need to be grand. To be a hero you only need to protect those you love, cherish your world and you will never falter. Or simply put. Realizing how much one Matters.
The second lesson is Wolverine, that mistakes and failures do not need to define us. We can change, we can grow, we can be better. Redemption, or in a way the opposite of Wade’s issue. The past doesn’t need to matter if you focus on the future.
Both lessons are shown by both characters (especially in the climax) such a solid character growth for both characters. (And the matter and Antimatter convergence)
8/10
_________________________________________
Final thoughts
The movie for me is an 8.5/10
I loved the movie for what it is. It is a bit clunky at some points. But the heart of the characters is there. The movie has a soul, something I felt was lacking from Marvel since endgame. The movie jokes that it’s the marvel messiah. I also think they made the joke in bad taste (disrespecting the man upstairs)
Though if they do believe that this movie could save marvel, I honestly can’t say it’s true. But I can say it’s my favorite marvel movie post endgame. Just barely beating out No way home.
