Eldritch Graveyard Werewolf Compilation Post

The particular gravesite that the occupants have laid claim to is the center of a horror’s imprisonment beneath the soil, and comprises the tombs of a family that was known for moral depravity in their day.  Offerings of old wine bottles, cigars, and roses litter the area, as do the preserved remains of several dozen birds.  Many of these tombs are connected underground by hidden passages, the purpose of which are lost to time.

The vicinity of the lair is less an active graveyard and more an ancient one, a huge artificial clearing crudely carved from a woodland by hatchet and fire that has since been reclaimed- aggressively- by the old-growth forest it violated.  The presence of the horror beneath the soil here is what bred the whole catastrophe, as the newcomers disturbed the prison of a Great One’s child, kept contained beneath the soil and reaped the consequences.

The Master lives here in the wilderness after killing three people while transformed.  She’s not yet joined a local werewolf’s pack, instead currently favoring to live on her own, hunting and trapping to survive and collect pelts and other necessities for winter.  Her transformations have turned erratic since arriving, no longer coming with the ebb and flow of the moon’s shape; the aberrant prisoner buried beneath the soil here is to blame, as its mind reaches out to hers.

Drawn to the eldritch creature buried beneath the graveyard are a handful of locals, individuals of weak mind who were snared by its psychic web and came to the graveyard to search for it.  They avoid the Master, for the most part, as while she’s in human form she provides for them, but has mauled members of their group while transformed.  If they’re left to their own devices they will locate and dig up the creature, or die defending its sleeping form.

The abomination buried here is quiescent in body, bounded as it is by the earth; but its mind is active, and with the presence of a werewolf nearby, it can feed on her humanity without incapacitating her, instead driving her more and more often to savagery.  Due to her presence, it’s also had the strength to draw in other compromised minds from nearby to start digging it out of its prison; it will be immobile until fully unearthed.

The danger the abomination poses is not simply that it may be freed; it’s a passive psionic danger to those who spend any real time here, as it exists less in conventional time than more mundane creatures.  The visions that result from a time-myopic psychic abomination whispering into the minds of all present can be highly disorienting and even painful, and only unearthing and slaying the abomination shakes the effect.

The final confrontation here can take two forms; if the locals are not stopped from unearthing the abomination, it kills them in a wave of psychic feedback when freed, seizes control of the Master, and goes in search of the nearest large settlement to gorge on their psyches before becoming a roaming problem for the region.  If the dig is sufficiently held up, the horror masses the madmen and werewolf and sets them to hunting those who have halted its bid for freedom, aiding as it can with its psionics.

One way or another, the reward is the same- the psychic backlash from slaying the werewolf so close to something with the abomination’s mental presence embeds her ferocity on her slayers’ minds like a stamp, giving them the option of drawing on her fury a few times before the mental ‘footprint’ wears off.

For example, I plan on doing a horror version of a Hannhaki AU. But you can make horror versions of any AU if you try hard enough. Coffee Shop, Flower Shop, Canon Divergence. If the AU is popular and widespread across fandoms as a whole, it can count. Go wild with this one.

Sci-Fi Horror: This one is pretty simple, there is a lot of potential for horror stories when it comes to Sci-Fi elements. Whether you're going with something FNAF inspired or tackling the fear of the unknown with space, there are options.

The Deep Blue Sea: The ocean is a horrifying place and there's a lot of potential for scary spooky shit to happen miles under the surface of the water. This prompt can just be anything involving underwater horror, whether that be ancient eldritch magic and lost cities, or just something large and terrifying that a human can't possibly comprehend in its entirety.

Eldritch: Honestly surprised I didn't think of this when I was coming up with the prompts for the original Bingo sheet itself. This one is very simple, general eldritch horror in whatever form you as a writer or artist or whatever else sees fit. Admittedly there's a lot of room for eldritch shenanigans right there on the board, but consider this a little extra for any creatives who might want a bit more freedom on how and why something is eldritch.

I would like to stress that this is an event for c!TNT Duo, as I do not support William Gold in any way shape or form. I just love the characters and love Halloween so I figured it would be a fun project to work on throughout October.

There's no pressure to participate, nor any real rules other than it being strictly for the characters. Tag your fics and art with "TNT Duo Halloween Bingo". And that you, obviously, cannot have a fanwork count for multiple bingo squares. If it uses two or three of those concepts it can only count for one. Of course, keeping all of them together in a oneshot book or art book or whatever is acceptable, just don't use one fanwork to count for multiple prompts.

There is no prize, this is just meant to be a silly fun thing for anyone who might want some Halloween inspiration for the characters.

That’s a loaded question man but uh I’ll try to list them. Ig this is like a master post for my AU’s lol. Ninjago AU’s alone:

1. To Kill A Legend. Ninjago x Breath of the Wild fusion fic where Lloyd is the Prince of Hyrule and has to save all his dead siblings from giant mechanical dragon monsters and also kick Overlord ass. My current fic ofc 🫶

a. Calamity Hero: au of TKAL where the Shrine of Resurrection doesn’t work and Lloyd is reincarnated. New Lloyd has to deal with everyone treating him like his predecessor. Takes place only 16 years after the Calamity and not canon

b. Hero of Legend (is it an au if it’s canon to the main au?) basically just the first ever hero of destiny

c. Hero of Time (canon to TKAL): traveled the time stream to fight the Time Twins and man am I tired of the word time. Doomed by the narrative

d. True Prince (name pending/semi-canon to TKAL I haven’t decided) wherein everyone thinks Morro is the hero of destiny but it’s actually Lloyd, who was adopted into the royal family

e. Oni Hero (canon to TKAL): a hero of destiny who beat back an invading Oni army. TKAL Lloyd’s direct predecessor

f. A potential sequel to TKAL that I don’t have a name for yet. Morro is possessing ya boy and Lloyd gets to deal with another eldritch monstrosity

2. The Graveyard Shift aka the love of my life. Modern au with ghost magic. Lloyd, Harumi, and Akita are all best friends - Conduit, Quiet One, and Red are mortal enemies. The unbreakable bonds of love ig. I WILL be writing this trust

a. Attack Dog au. Harumi blackmails Akita into helping her kidnap the Conduit. My favorite spin-off of the graveyard shift

b. Bad Ending - harumi makes the wrong decision in either one of two situations and dooms the narrative

c. Obligatory swap AU where they swap places lol

d. Mentor AU where Mystake isn’t killed and lives to mentor Lloyd

e. Time loop au. Lloyd accidentally triggers a time loop over Jamanakai and everything ends well for a change

f. Sidekick AU. Basically what was the original version of TGS where instead of trying to murder him, Red is basically Lloyd’s animal sidekick. She’s only ever in her wolf form while they’re dealing with the Quiet One and he has no idea she’s a person. He thinks she’s a weirdly liminal dog or smth idk

3. Sword and Shield. In an effort to use his son’s power for himself, evil demigod of destruction Garmadon turns Lloyd into a living weapon. Brad finds Lloyd in an abandoned monastery 50 years later and they fall in love on a quest to break his curse. Fluffy ❤️ I’m probably also going to eventually write this bc I love it

4. Who You Gon’ Call? Morro isn’t a bad guy in Posession and he and Lloyd team up to trick/sabotage the other ghosts and stop the Preeminent before she can bust out

5. The Final Phonecall. Not my au, it belongs to @thegreengoose22 but I’ve been writing the fic for it

6. Emotional Support Werewolf. Akita is stolen from the Never Realm by some asshole and stuck in wolf form. She ends up in a shelter by circumstance and is adopted by the other ninja looking to get the (insanely depressed) Green Ninja an emotional support animal. Thinking of writing this au as a oneshot

7. Bedrock. A random Steven Universe au that hasn’t left me alone for over 3 years but I will literally never write. I go insane making up Gem culture and religion and a whole war doing a societal reformation- I was crazy. I’m still crazy. Don’t ever think I’m not crazy

8. The Thing About Mom. Another Steven Universe au where Lars died during the Gem war on earth and Rose brought him back as a pink zombie. He and Steven meet and become brothers

👻Vampire: What is your favorite supernatural creature?

Ooo, probably the Wulver? To my extremely limited knowledge, he's a sort of Scottish wolf man (not a werewolf, just man body wolf head 24/7). He likes to go fishing on his little rock, and will sometimes leave his catch on the windowsills of poor families who need the food. He'll help lost travelers find their way, and will pay his respects when there's an illness in the family. Real nice guy, super chill and helpful. Just wants to live his life, which I can totally relate to. 20/10 goodest boy.

🎃Graveyard: Do you know any good scary stories?

I am a glutton for scary stories! I cannot even count the number of hours I've spent listening to horror story narrations. Not all of them are winners, but every now and then you find a real gem!

The Accounts From a Lonely Broadcast Station series is pretty fun. One of those "I went to work at a place but didn't realize I'd be dealing with eldritch buffoonery every day" kind of stories.

Then there's Fleshgait (I'm a little bit iffy about this one because I think it's supposed to be a kind of skinwalker thing? Which I'm not super okay with. But the creatures in the story are pretty different from what (again, very little) I know about the original creatures. If it weren't for the title I would have just thought this was a monster the writer made up from whole cloth. So use your own judgement if you're going to read/listen to it. I like this one because the main character is a well written example of someone with a severe anxiety disorder, and the twists and turns are pretty fun!

Holiday-appropriate fic! Ghost houses! A school trip to the ghost forest where people kill themselves. One of these three is not like the other, but I would read all sorts of stories about these characters. Post-canon would be great, but anything goes really. I'd like additional appearances by any other of the cast, but it would be icing on the cake.

Focusing on just one character would be terrific. Kumiko has adventures with another class, or her minions! Shin goes to Africa, but gets lost in a different universe on the way there!

I ship Shin/Yankumi but gen is delightful also.

Kat and Patrick go to make-out in an abandoned factory. Too bad there's a ghost interrupting them every five minutes.

Would also read: Zombie apocalypse; Kat is a literal witch who devours boys and Patrick is her (virgin?) sacrifice. Obviously, you can probably come up with much better stories :D A look at what they do in ten, twenty years would be great, too! Separately, even!

How would a ghost jellyfish be different from a non-ghost jellyfish? Why would it turn into a ghost?

What kind of ghost stories do they tell in space? Space halloween traditions?

Tbh, I would read a story containing all those characters. It is by no means necessary, though!

Space Traveller: Tell me of the Halloween traditions that survive into the space age! Are there new traditions? What kind of scary stories do they tell in space?

Incubus: I have a thing for magical creatures doing totally mundane things, while being supernatural about it. Would also work for me if combined with any of the other characters! Also here for an Incubus dub-conning someone with sex pollen.

Ghost Jellyfish: How would that work? How would a ghost jellyfish be different from a non-ghost jellyfish? Why would it turn into a ghost? Maybe it’s a familiar of the Part-Time Ghost Exorcist?

Incompetent Fortune Teller: Ooh. In what way are they incompetent? Do they tell people what they want to hear, because they are incompetent at telling the future? Or are they incompetent at being a fortune teller, and tell people their future? Maybe they only see two seconds into the future -- maybe they are cursed and nobody believes the truth they are telling ;) Would also read if the Incompetent Fortune Teller was made incompetent by the Time-Travelling AI and was pretty angry about that... or any other combination, really

Part-Time Ghost Exorcist: As I mentioned, I love when the mundane meets the supernatural. What’s the other part-time? Is the ghost exorcising business only hiring part-time workers so they don’t have to insure their workers? (This is admittedly very US centric. Would also love an AU where a part-time job can have a living wage! Or any other setting) Would also love a space travelling ghost exorcist. 

Eldritch Abomination In A Human Skin-Suit: Existential horror freaks me out pretty quickly, but this is such an interesting concept. Why is the Eldritch Horror using a Human Skin Suit? Because they can? Is it like, a life-style choice? Is the EA doing it for the experience, or to be edgy? Would also read if the Eldritch Horror is the thing that gets exorcised. Would also read if there’s no existential horror.

Time-Travelling Artificial Intelligence: What is the AI doing while time-travelling? Does anyone find them out? Why is it time-travelling? Does it abide by Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics? Would also read a story where the AI figures out to be human -- or tries having sex with someone, or maybe they get best upon by an Incubus and there’s confusion all around.

Long Abandoned Sentient Ship: How does the sentience work out, did it become sentient through its abandonment, or is the ship even self-aware? Does it model itself on its creators? Is the ship going crazy in a mild way, or in a creepy way? Or maybe the sentience isn’t very human-like, and it doesn’t need contact at all, and is just merrily continuing its mission to map the unknown space? Maybe it collects hitchhikers. Maybe nobody knows how or who had created it, and it’s just there.

Faces in the Background - Shadows Over Innistrad & Eldritch Moon - Part 1

I hope you’re all ready to get spooky because it’s high time we look at the plane with some of the most popular secondary characters in Magic - Innistrad.

Innistrad’s list of quoted characters is long. Really long. Between SOI, and EMN alone, there are 38 named characters quoted in flavor text. As much as I love Innistrad, I don’t want this to be an eight part series, so what I did was look at all of the named characters in Shadows Over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon, then looked back at the original Innistrad block to see who shows up more than once between both blocks. Those that did will be discussed in this series.

With that out of the way, let’s get spoopy.

Anje Falkenrath

Most of the info we have on Anje comes from SOI block. She was an older scion of the Falknerath family, of which was hit particularly hard with Emrakul’s arrival. The Falkenrath were well known for being some of the most feral vampires on the plane, and Emrakul’s incoming influence on the plane didn’t help much to quell that. Indeed, the vampires of the Falkenrath family became even more crazed and came to develop bat like qualities in their corruption. Those that became especially influenced left the family and stalked the passes of Geier Reach, naming their condition the “Boiling Blood”.

Anje herself was labeled with the condition as well, but instead of leading a solitary existence like those before her, gathered some of the other eldrazi influenced vampires into a hunting pack. She does this because her goal is to retake Castle Falkenrath with the support of her pack from those that inhabit it already.

Anje is quoted in one other card:

Aggravate (AVR) “Barbarians! They burned my favorite chair! We’ll kill them all!" 

Dierk, Geistmage

Oh Dierk. You had so much potential. In the original Innistrad block, you were a geistmage on the run; binding the souls of the departed to your will. Church wasn’t too happy with that.

And then you went and allied yourself with Liliana. In SOI block, Dierk makes an appearance in story with helping Liliana in exorcising the Chain Veil. This attempt fails, but it puts Dierk in the wrong place at the wrong time - after the failed attempt of electrocuting the Onakke out of the Chain Veil, Dierk leaves the lab only to find himself surrounded by eldrazified werewolves.

Liliana resurrects him along with countless other zombies on the way to Thraben to fight Emrakul, and he’s then lost in the crowd.

Dierk is quoted in three other cards:

Dissipate (INN) "This abomination never belonged in our world. I’m merely setting it free.”

Second Guess (AVR) “I see where you’re going with that. I don’t like it.”

Spectral Flight (INN) “The church looks down on binding spirits into armor, but now I can look down on them.”

Ghoulcaller Enslow

Gisa isn’t the only ghoulcaller on Innistrad. Enslow of Nephalia also holds the same title, and practices the same trade as Gisa of raising the dead for personal gain.

In contrast to Gisa, Enslow is a bit sneakier in his practice and uses the passages between grafs - or graveyards - to add to his collection of zombies. With Nephalia being infamous for corpse trade, I wouldn’t be surprised if Enslow was a part of that economic cycle. Selling bodies is easy when you have your product transport itself.

Enslow is quoted in two other cards:

Diregraf Ghoul (INN) “At least this one still has arms and legs. Well, most of its legs.”

Heartless Summoning (INN) “They won’t be winning any beauty pageants, but they’ll do the trick.”

Grete, Cathar Apostate

Okay, I’m cheating a little here, as Grete is technically on a card (pictured here), but it’s not as a legendary creature and I’m not passing up on the opportunity to talk about her.

Grete is Odric’s right hand woman and his second-in-command to the Gavony Riders. Or, was, at the case may be. But more on that later.

Grete was originally tasked with transporting Gisa Cecani to Thraben for trial after the conclusion of the original Innistrad block. However, Gisa’s brother, Geralf, intervened, freeing his sister from Grete’s arrest.

Later, in the Shadows Over Innistrad block, Grete helps Odric free Thalia from imprisonment after the latter was falsely held for treason against the Lunarch Council. With this betrayal against the council, Grete, Thalia, and Odric were forced on the run until they found rest in an abandoned church. It was here that Thalia introduced Grete and Odric to the Order of St. Traft, as well as Traft’s ghost himself.

Grete would come to join the Order and take part in the Battle of Thraben against Emrakul, letting herself be possessed by a ghost to shield herself from Emrakul’s whispering madness, whereas her superior and mentor Odric - his spirit broken from his betrayal against everything he had once held dear - remained behind. 

Grete is quoted in three cards:

Avacyn, the Purifier (SOI) “Wings that once bore hope are now stained with blood. She is our guardian no longer.”

Gavony Unhallowed (EMN) “We entered the church in search of solace, but it became clear we wouldn’t find it there.”

Repel the Abominable (EMN) “Fight for a better future, even if you may not live to see it.”

Hal and Alena

Halana and Alena go way back to the original Innistrad block, but it wasn’t until the Shadows Over Innistrad story “Under the Silvermoon” by  Kimberly J. Kreines that we learned that the two women are actually a sapphic couple and travel the Ulvenwald together, protecting it from all sorts of nasty beasties.

In canon, their love for each other is so great that Hal was able to resist Emrakul’s influence through sheer force of will alone, with her driving reason being that she didn’t want to be separated from Alena and leave her alone.

Last we saw of them, they were taking solace in each others company as Emrakul fully arrived on the plane, far away, off the coast of Nephalia.

I have every reason to believe that we will see them again, as since their introduction in the Shadows Over Innistrad story, they have become incredibly popular characters with a high demand for a card depicting them (and honestly, same. I need me a mono-green viable commander that I can build around, Wizards. Or Green-Red. Whichever).

Hal and Alena combined are quoted in a whopping 12 other cards:

For Alena: Briarpack Alpha (DKA) “The wolves turned on us and a chill swept over me. The pack had a new leader.”

Flowering Lumberknot (AVR) “It used to eat us trappers. Now it follows us around like some kind of hound dog.”

Eldritch Graveyard Werewolf 6

The final confrontation here can take two forms; if the locals are not stopped from unearthing the abomination, it kills them in a wave of psychic feedback when freed, seizes control of the Master, and goes in search of the nearest large settlement to gorge on their psyches before becoming a roaming problem for the region.  If the dig is sufficiently held up, the horror masses the madmen and werewolf and sets them to hunting those who have halted its bid for freedom, aiding as it can with its psionics.

Eldritch Graveyard Werewolf 5

The danger the abomination poses is not simply that it may be freed; it’s a passive psionic danger to those who spend any real time here, as it exists less in conventional time than more mundane creatures.  The visions that result from a time-myopic psychic abomination whispering into the minds of all present can be highly disorienting and even painful, and only unearthing and slaying the abomination shakes the effect.

Eldritch Graveyard Werewolf 4

The abomination buried here is quiescent in body, bounded as it is by the earth; but its mind is active, and with the presence of a werewolf nearby, it can feed on her humanity without incapacitating her, instead driving her more and more often to savagery.  Due to her presence, it’s also had the strength to draw in other compromised minds from nearby to start digging it out of its prison; it will be immobile until fully unearthed.

Eldritch Graveyard Werewolf 3

Drawn to the eldritch creature buried beneath the graveyard are a handful of locals, individuals of weak mind who were snared by its psychic web and came to the graveyard to search for it.  They avoid the Master, for the most part, as while she’s in human form she provides for them, but has mauled members of their group while transformed.  If they’re left to their own devices they will locate and dig up the creature, or die defending its sleeping form.
