every single time i think to myself "I wanna quilt my own quilts! And this is just a throw size so it'll work fine on a regular sewing machine" and then two lines in my ribs and shoulders are screaming at me from trying to maneuver 25 square feet of fabric and backing through dozens of little microadjustments and I'm screaming at the quilt because I have invariably already fucked it up

i think it’s partially a deliberate misread of the series for lols and partially responding to how the series didn’t 100% stick the landing as it transitioned from a kids wizard school series to a more political thriller kinda story

but it’s got all the usual greatest hits of harry potter discourse, including:

- treating aurors as if they’re on par with (american) beat cops

- acting like hermione wasn’t framed by the text as explicitly right about house elves

- smugly pointing out that wizard society is nightmarishly inefficient as though the back half of the series doesn’t explicitly address that

like it’s definitely giving too much credit to the series as like a pillar of western society but that’s the gag
