[In those two years at sixth form, Nancy didn't completely disappear from my life. We kept in touch since her number was the same. That was until she stopped messaging altogether. Maybe she was busy with culinary school. Maybe her phone broke. It left me desperate to see her again, concerned that something happened]

[She never told me her address though, so maybe she lived with her parents. Location-wise, all I knew was what school she was attending. I found myself frequenting the place in hopes of an unforeseen encounter with her. Like that day, I sat there studying my notes, occasionally looking up when I saw any passerby]

[I ended up scrolling through our messages, hoping to ignite the memories ready for when we meet. If we do meet. I messaged her, put my phone away then it vibrated. I looked in dismay at the notification]

[I was frustrated at myself for losing track of time. I didn't want to leave a bad impression by being late, my studies were a top priority. So I rushed there. But sometimes fate intervenes in ways you never thought it would. Like meeting Renee. When I first saw her, she looked so familiar as if I had known her all my life]

[As I tried to guess where I'd seen her before, it dawned on me that she looked like Charlie. We must have been staring at each other for a while, but I couldn't take my eyes off her. She averted her gaze, kept failing to hide her staring and I thought that was kinda…cute. I couldn't hide my smile any longer]

There’s no actual reason for Aki and Kirijo to follow him to his room, but Shinjiro doesn’t have it in him to complain. He’s a little too busy still reeling from the incredibly thoughtful gift draped over his arm. 

He’s never been given a gift like this before, so full of reason and kindness. 

He’d only even mentioned his other coat once to Kirijo, hadn’t he? She had to have turned around and started scheming pretty much immediately after that. It’s nice, too, which means it couldn’t have been cheap. Sure, Kirijo probably footed the bill and money is basically no object to her, but it’s the principle of the thing. They’d even gone beyond practical concerns and worried about making sure it was to his taste– and they’d hit that nail on the head too. Or Takeba, specifically, had.

They’ve been going out of their way for him a lot recently. He wishes there was something, anything, he could do to pay them back. 

When they make it to his door, Shinjiro sighs and turns to look at them both.

…

Shit.

She reaches over and briefly touches Shinjiro’s forearm. The smile on her face is so warm and sweet that it nearly bowls him over. When was the last time he’d seen her look so happy? And what? Because of him? Just how the hell is he supposed to deal with this?

Aki takes his turn next. This at least is much more familiar, but the hand on his shoulder is far gentler than what he’s used to. The sentimental softness in his expression reminds Shinjiro of the way he'd looked after their second awakenings. For one wild, stupid moment he grapples with the impulse to lean in and put his theory about what Aki might've nearly done that day to the test.

God, how can they look so damn happy? They’re aiming all that jubilant warmth at a coward who ran away, don’t they realize that? Someone who caused them so much trouble and grief that he hasn’t even begun to make amends for. 

Why would they look at him in a way that makes it feel like he’s somehow handed them the whole damn world on a silver plate?

But even knowing how little he’s done to deserve it… Shinjiro can’t say he hates the feeling. 

He watches them go. Both of them glance back before they leave his line of sight, like they’re making sure he hadn’t vanished like a ghost. Alone in the hall now, he looks back down at the coat, rolling a bit of the fabric between his thumb and forefinger.

He hasn't even put the coat on yet, but he feels warm all the way through.

He rubs away the hot, sudden sting in his eyes, grateful that nobody’s there to witness it.

SO!!!! @ink-mania and i developed a symphony au together!! Bradley is a conductor, and max is a reformed classical music hater (lol) It's two chapters, and the first one is up now!! CHECK OUT INKY'S ART THAT INSPIRED THIS REALLY!!!

I was kinda hyperfocusing on completing some pieces for something, and wanted to come back online only after I finished them, but then I realized I wouldn’t get done nearly in time anyway… So they’re postponed for a later date, who knows when. I’ll take my time. Anyway, I’ll try not to disappear again, especially so soon… ^^;

But yeah, it’s been a while since I posted about Zangetsu, so here is he.

At first, I was just gonna go for a regular sketch. But then I decided to put him in a turtleneck, ‘cause, yeah, that’s what I like drawing, idk what to tell you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ And then I wanted to render it the same way I did for Ichigo and Orihime’s b-day pieces since it’s fun and I like the colors. And then, since I was already drawing him with a turtleneck in that style… at this point, I was kinda making excuses not to draw Zangetsu in the same outfit. So I gave in and did it, eheh. Hey, it’s a really good fit. I should draw it more (1), and I really wanted to see Zangetsu in it (2). So yeah.

Plus, I like trios, and this makes it a set of three, heheh. (Plus maybe, just maybe, this makes up for not finishing anything for him on his birthday ;~; Listen, okay: Ichigo was the priority… I’ll try to do better next year…)

(Also, this may or may not stay a collection of three… but if there are additions, it’ll be sometime in the future, when I get the spontaneous urge again)

Magical Girl Au

AU where literally everything is the same except the Shane family have magical girl powers.

The Shanes and subsequently, all Realm Champions are granted access to the magic of Slugterra and go through a magical transformation based on a chosen slug. That means magical outfits~!

This doesn't mean slugslinging is obsolete as the slugs still need to grow strong with slinging! So there's plenty shooting still!

Let me know what you think and which slug outfit you'd want to see first and for who!!!

The transformations and more info below the cut!

The transformations have 4 Forms.

1. Protoform — The Prelude

A subtle transformation that shows that a Champion has established the initial connection with their chosen slug. This can be used as a threat or simply as decoration.

The Champion will gain small subtle attributes of their chosen slug, usually signified by streaks of colours in their hair, thin antennas, small horns, or other similar protoform attributes the chosen slug has.

Protoform abilities can be used in this form.

2. Velocimorph — The Incursion

A full transformation where the Champion gains a unique outfit based on the chosen slug as well as access to the entire move kit of said slug.

In this form, the Champion can sling a slug without a blaster. Similarly to Slug Fu, the Champion can control a slug with a mere swipe of the hand, guiding it and weaving it through the magic rifts of the Caverns.

Champion power level is the same as slug level. In order for a stronger form, slug must be trained beforehand and the Champion themselves must train their body and stronger powers.

3. Megamorph — The Onslaught

This form is unlocked only when the slug has unlocked it. Same as with a megamorphed slug who can do their regular transformation without an accelerator, the Champion can upgrade to their Onslaught form at anytime when needed.

The Champion will gain an upgraded outfit that offers more protection and ✨flair✨.

Once Megamorph is achieved, the Champion's Prelude form will also upgrade to Mega Protoform — The Shining Prelude.

4. Elemental — The Singularity

A very rare form that can only be achieved with the Elementals present and ONLY if there is a friendship between the Elementals and the Champion.

This form is very unstable as the power of an Elemental is extremely powerful, after all, they are the most primordial beings in all of Slugterra. All Champions will eventually lose control and their bodies will reject the power of the Elementals; depending on how well trained the Champion is, the longer they can hold the power within them. For example, Junjie would have more control than Eli and thus keep his Singularity form for much longer.

Eli and Junjie would be able to access their Singularity forms with all the Elementals but Sarai wouldn't as the Elementals don't particular like her, she can only access the Energy Singularity form as Doc is the only one who is very fond of her.

The stronger the friendship, the more stable this form will be (by like 5%, it's not much but a notable difference in control)

Notes:

I should note that since every slug has a different personality, the magical outfits will be different for every champion.

In the Shane's case, their powers only activate when they cross the threshold into Slugterra. They are unable to use their powers on the Surface as their connection to Slugterra is extremely weak. It CAN be possible to use their powers on the Surface if the Shane learns to keep and store extra Slug Energy within them. It is a difficult skill to learn.

All Champion families members have access to these powers, but they are locked behind key. Only those who will take the mantle will have an automatic bypass to this barrier. Will knew Eli would have this bypass and Sarai wouldn't, despite this, when Sarai crossed the Slugterran barrier, she found she had the bypass as well, Slugterra deemed her a Champion even if her family didn't, and thus, deserving of the power just like Eli and her father.

This also means that the Shane Gang would not have powers as they are not from the Champion line.

Fusions in Champions is unheard of and not possible. That is a power reserved for slugs only.

The Infurnus Incursion and Onslaught forms are the most powerful forms for any Champion as the Infurnus is the most powerful among the slugs, aside from the Elementals ofc. They are a slug meant for only the Champion after all.

"Oh, I know someone perfect for you!" Mrs Kobayashi exclaimed, "Let me set you up!" Suzume did not expect that answer, but if it's someone she knows well then there was nothing for her to be nervous about 🤭
