On one hand, Lydia's co-existence shtick would have interfered with Betelgeuse's business and lost him clients whenever they came across each other at work, while Betel's hauntings might have been very good for Lydia's show.

However, that's assuming that he usually left enough living witnesses that could still call Lydia. And from what we've seen, that's not his usual M.O. He will let Breathers live if his potential clients absolutely insist on it and he's desperate to make a deal, but he finds it more efficient to just murder people, maybe leave one alive to frame them for those murders.

But there would have been Maitland-ish clients (and I like to think most newbie ghosts would still retain their morals) who insisted on him going low and slow on the haunting, and those cases had a higher chance of making Lydia show up. And Betelgeuse would have noticed that. It would have encouraged him to excercise some self-control.

And I don't know if word can spread between house ghosts - or maybe Betelgeuse did some advertising - but if ghosts got wise to the idea that hiring Betelgeuse for a loud-but-non-lethal haunting (which you need to specify) can get you that Nice Medium who can make Breathers listen, that would have been excellent for Betel's business. He'd have needed to start taking payment up-front because the more peaceful way wouldn't always be effective in either getting rid of the Breathers on the first go (but hey, his clients can always decide to make another deal) or getting the Medium that they actually want to help them, but he'd have made more deals than he had been because more people would have been willing to hire him.

i am immensely enjoying editing at the cafe on Saturday, daydreaming about my WIP on my walk back and throughout that night, and then writing about it on Sunday.

also i wanted to share some cute formatting changes to my weekly word count. i changed the conditional formatting (order matters!) to match my "success" column colors :D

which if you look at before week 31 when i started weekly, there are so many alternating exceeded/endeavored (not in this screenshot cause i was struggling in the summer months). it accurately reflects on how sometimes it felt easy to do daily writings weekly and other weeks it was difficult. with these initial results, weekly goals rather than daily goals seems more sustainable on the long-run.

...i don't entirely know why "words to go" is color coded and not "words written" ......... prob bc when i am writing, i look at "words to go" yet when i'm analyzing, i look at "words written" ... eh, fun excel editing for another time uvu

a couple of youtubers i subscribe to have been playing minecraft recently, either in a "ive never played mc but ill give it a shot" or a "i havent played minecraft since horses were added" way, and watching them has really made me realize how much ive just been min-maxing minecraft lately. like ive been doing some fun stuff, but its mostly extremely large projects that take hours of farming that isnt really fun for me. watching other people just play the game slowly and have fun inspired me to try and go back to experiencing the game that way, and it is so much more fun than what i've been doing.

does anyone else play minecraft in a 'i maximized my space for efficiency and then blanked on what else to do' style or am i just playing the game wrong

Imo most of the time a child should decided to do/not do something not because they know their parents don’t want them it and they’re scared of the consequences, but because their parent has explained why something should/shouldn’t be done in a way the child understands and makes sense to them. And consider if you can’t find a reason to explain to your kids, maybe there’s no reason at all and your rules are arbitrary

Use the reference picture, trace over it. Use free 3D and image resources, try photo-bashing. Practise other people's artstyles, look at the ones you like and examine exactly which parts you love and practise incorporating that to your work.

You do not live in a vacuum, you're allowed to learn from others, you're allowed to use all the tools you have access to. Remember that you are mortal and you don't have to spend 10 years practising drawing the perfect circle when a compass exists.

Hell, maybe even pull up the whole shit with the lawyer who used it to create a legal document, which proceeded to cite not only irrelevant cases, but totally fake ones that never ever existed. Hammer home the whole "this is a thing whose sole job is to guess what it should say, based on what you told it" bit.

Maybe even find that bit where someone tried to convince Copilot or whatever that it was today's date, which was different from what the bot was saying it was. Because all it knows is its training data & any initial prompts telling it how to respond, any limits, and any extra information that couldn't be in its training data (like those car dealerships with ChatGPT-based bots that are also given details on their inventory).
