Soooo... Corpoverse visual novel?
How does that sound?
As an artists, musician and programmer, I am kinda hyped with the idea 👀

something really weird is happening with search engines right now. Everything except Google appears to be malfunctioning or down.
Duck duck go won't return results on anything.
Yahoo loads results but clicking them does nothing.
According to down detector, Ecosia has been down for almost a year??
Bing and Yandex aren't returning results either.
Google is fine. Fuck you, Google. What the fuck did you do now.

Use Ecosia
Its self-given epithet isn't a lie-it's literally just a search engine that plants trees using the revenue generated by showing you ads that are only personalized if you for some reason actually want that. Here it is on extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Brave. It's planted 194.2 million trees, to be precise. And they're currently charging towards 200 million. In fact, they've got a big ol' banner on top of the site that's always there just to count up until they get there. That banner annoys me, both because it's actually working to get me to search more and also because the 'tism despises the way it makes everything off-center from how it should be. So, to both help the environment and get that thing out of my sight, I'm now evangelizing it to everyone I know. If you're looking for very specific things you'll probably still want to stick with Google, but Ecosia now is noticeably more precise and overall better to use than it was when I first started using it back in 2019.
I will say that they will often use very cringey, social-justice style rhetoric, but unlike the vast majority of socjus organizations they're more than willing to walk the walk with consistency: they work with local communities in the countries they plant trees in so that they not only don't have to choose between economic prosperity and environmental stewardship, but are able to obtain the former from the latter. They also put way too much importance on those UN climate talks, but for a mid-size charity I think it does make a certain amount of sense to invest time and attention into those kinds of things; they get millions of eyes on them, and given Ecosia's model of operations they're far more in need of active growth than other comparable organizations. And honestly, I'd say that some cringey rhetoric regarding actual good being done far outweighs what you see from so many other charities, which talk themselves up only to actually do very little(Susan G. Komen, Wounded Warrior, etc).

Do ya'll remember when you could go to that "advanced search" page on google? The page that looked like a library's search engine?
Did you know it still exists??? Cus I sure didn't! It's like it's its (its it's its for good measure) own webpage now, but she lives! You just have to search "google advanced search" and its the first result
Completely worthless info to me personally since I use duckduckgo or ecosia which you should too btw, but hey! Maybe that knowledge will help someone out there since AI SEO blah blah has razed the internet to the ground

Search engine comparision
Google: Three ads before the first actual result, which is not a helpful one. The following results also aren't helpful.
Tumblr media
Bing: There are four ads, each so large that you have to scroll down to see the actual results (none of which are helpful).
Tumblr media
DuckDuckGo: Two ads before the actual results. As usual, the actual results are the opposite of what I searched for.
Tumblr media
Ecosia: No ads, but no helpful results. However, about 0.02 trees were planted as a result of my search.
Tumblr media
Conclusion: It is impossible to find answers to difficult questions simply by using a search engine. However, out of the search engines surveyed, Ecosia had the fewest ads and most trees planted.

Honestly if you're not even using Ecosia what are you doing. Like why tf would you use Google when you could plant a tree every 45 searches.

There is a web browser called Ecosia that plants trees while you search things. Currently, they have planted over 219,000,000 trees! It’s an incredible source and I’ve heard wonderful things about it. Looking at their browser, they seem very transparent about where their money goes and how they use it, it’s incredible

Things we can do:
(many are very simple, promise)
Comfort your friends.
Learn and share what you learn. Trump will go hard against the education system. Republicans already doing that for decades resulted in maga believing all kinds of weird propaganda. So follow that science account or type in "history" "biology" "economics" or whatever you like on Tumblr and reblog that post. Similar things can be done on other socials as well.
Follow good news accounts on socials. It will cheer you up to see more well-meaning people. Or visit this website:
Join a local charity and start donating goods you don't need anymore. Connect with them. Meet other well-meaning people
Follow promising, well-meaning Democrat politicians on their socials. The more followers (=support) and the more you see what they are doing, the better. You might be one of the earliest to spot the next president.
Use Ecosia to search. They plant trees for every so many searches.
Click to give:
Animal rescue site
Learned about this website on Tumblr. Their sponsors give a little to charity when you click. It's not just for animals, but also rainforest, breast cancer and, crucially, education and way more. Ideal for people who don't have money to donate, but can still contribute this way. Once you click on the animal one, it will show you options for the others.
Buy more locally instead of from certain mega corporations (particularly ones that endorsed trump). Even if it is a little more expensive, you will probably save money if you cancel your <River in South America> subscription, as you're less likely to buy stuff you don't need. I know people who used that before and have been spending less since cancellation.
I felt defeated yesterday, but feel more energy than ever today after doing stuff like this.
Also, bring people together that mean well. Share organizations with others, follow them and attend their Christmas charity events etc.
(or rest another day or two, but then get to work. I already feel a lot better getting busy this way).

Edible cookie dough recipe, safe to eat!
Ingredients:
(Makes 8 servings)
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons milk
½ cup milk chocolate chips
½ cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions:
Put the flour in the microwave for 1 ½ minutes, stir in 15 second increments. This gets rid of bacteria, making the raw flour safe to eat
Melt the butter and let it cool to room temperature (if you don't, the chocolate melts and it'll harden a lot once it cools down. Been there, done that. Still edible, but weird texture.)
Mix all the ingredients and enjoy. Store in fridge or freeze if it ends up being too much!

Do you hate Google?
Do you also slightly disike Firefox for one reason or another???
CAN I INTRODUCE YOY TO MY FAVORITE BROWSER?!
Tumblr media
Join me and 20M+ others planting trees in their natural habitats!!
1. Download the app:
https://ecosia.co/install-ios
2. Use my ✨ invite link ✨ and we will both plant an extra tree
ecosia://invite/friends-r5d2aw
Tumblr media
My favorite part is that every 50 searches, my little tree counter goes up.
Not sponsored btw, I just genuinely like the app. Makes me happy knowing I’m not allowing myself to fall to the “fast answers” that google provides.
