With Wisdom Comes Sorrow
And I set my heart to seek and to search out by wisdom all that is done under the heavens. The Importance of Humility in Overcoming Conceit
In our journey towards spiritual fulfillment, understanding the balance between conceit and humility is crucial. Each of these qualities plays a significant role in shaping not only our personal growth but also our relationships and worldview.
Overcoming Conceit: A Guide to Spiritual Discipline Ecclesiastes 1:13; 1 Corinthians 8:1; Romans 12:16; Genesis 8:21 In a world where self-promotion often takes center stage, the challenge of balancing humility with conceit is more pressing than ever. We often find ourselves grappling with the idea of how to acknowledge our own achievements without slipping into vanity. Biblically speaking,…

A Bonfire of Vanity: Advice From the Wisest Man Who Ever Lived
Tom Wolfe (who wrote, “The Bonfire of the Vanities”) said, “The surest cure for vanity is loneliness.” Another person who understood vanity was (an older and somewhat jaded) King Solomon. After living a life of wealth and achievement, and after marrying hundreds of wives and keeping dozens of concubines, he wrote this: “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and…

“Jesus in the Old Testament” By Bible Love Notes:
“Don't miss the wonderful list that shows how God was "whispering" about Jesus in every Old Testament book!”
“After His resurrection, Jesus met two disciples walking to a village called Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35). They didn't recognize Jesus, but "beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself" (Luke 24:27).
Christ's redemption was part of God's plan from the beginning (Genesis 3:15). When we recognize this important truth, it enhances our understanding and appreciation of both Old and New Testaments.
Enjoy this list of "whispers" (clues, foreshadowings) that God placed in each Old Testament book, preparing us for the coming of Jesus.
In Genesis Jesus is the Seed of the Woman
Exodus…………………...Our Passover Lamb
Leviticus……………………..Our High Priest
Numbers........Guiding Pillar of Fire and Cloud
Deuteronomy……….The Prophet Like Moses
Joshua………………..The Mighty Conqueror
Judges…...…....………....…...Our Rescuer

Psalm 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 127:4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Ecclesiastes 11:5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.
It is the Lord that forms the baby in the womb he tells Jeremiah in the verse below
Jeremiah 1:4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Psalm 139:13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.139:15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.139:16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
Job 33:4 The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
Psalm 22:9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.22:10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.

Then take an iron plate and set it up as an iron wall between yourself and the city. Turn your face toward it so that it is under siege, and besiege it. This will be a sign to the house of Israel. Then lie down on your left side and place the iniquity of the house of Israel upon yourself. You are to bear their iniquity for the number of days you lie on your side. Hear My Righteous Plea
1 Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.
2 Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.
3 Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
4 Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.
10 They are enclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.
11 They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;
12 Like as a lion that is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places.
13 Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:
14 From men which are thy hand, O Lord, from men of the world, which have their portion in this life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their substance to their babes.
15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. — Psalm 17 | King James Version (KJV) The King James Version Bible is in the public domain Cross References: Numbers 6:24; Deuteronomy 32:10; 1 Samuel 2:3; 1 Samuel 23:26; 2 Chronicles 6:40; Job 23:10-11; Psalm 1:1; Psalm 3:7; Psalm 4:1; Psalm 4:3; Psalm 6:4; Psalm 7:2; Psalm 9:4; Psalm 10:5; Psalm 10:9; Psalm 10:12; Psalm 18:30; Psalm 18:36; Psalm 27:12; Psalm 37:31; Psalm 88:17; Psalm 98:9; Psalm 99:4; Ecclesiastes 6:2; Matthew 13:15; Luke 16:25; Luke 21:20; 1 Peter 1:7; 1 John 3:2; Revelation 22:4

Ecclesiastes 8:13 But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he lengthen days like a shadow; because he doesn't fear God.
What is the cost of this life? Death! Although, human’s all think they are immortal God does not advocate that lie. If man did not immortalize each others there would be no immortality for humans born into sin.
Only one is immortal and only one can give it, and it sure can’t be earned. Love is not an obligation earned by good works. It is a gift given freely from God’s own righteousness, but we must see our own righteousness aS bloody rages unfit for God’s righteousness.
Isaiah 1:17 Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Judge the fatherless. Plead for the widow."

What’s the Point? There once lived a king whose experience exploring and grappling with life’s perplexities was recorded in the book of Ecclesiastes. What’s interesting is that this king—likely King Solomon—reigned in Israel during some of the best years in its history. From the world’s standards, he had more power, prestige, and wealth than any other person before him. Yet, still, he summarized his luxuries with one depressing word: Meaningless! “Everything is meaningless!” (Ecclesiastes 1:2) “Everything is wearisome beyond description.” (Ecclesiastes 1:8) “Nothing under the sun is truly new.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9) “I observed everything going on under the sun, and really, it is all meaningless—like chasing the wind.” (Ecclesiastes 1:14) Though written thousands of years ago, this bleak analysis still resonates with our own restless yearning for more. We want more than meaningless stuff. We want more than surface-level connections and ambitions. We want more than a seemingly thriving, yet secretly unsatisfied life. We want more—but what we want doesn’t typically satisfy us. Like the author of Ecclesiastes, we might find ourselves asking: “What is the point of life?” By the end of the book, “the Teacher” has tried to find meaning in everything under the sun, and he concludes his reflections with these powerful words… “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.” Ecclesiastes 12:13 NIV We can chase after everything this world has to offer and it might bring temporary pleasure. But in the end, pursuing those things apart from God will always leave us empty. The great news is, there’s a God in heaven who created and loves us, and He understands what we really need. He knows that life is best when we follow His design for life. He is worthy of our awe, our honor, and our worship. So, fear God and keep His commandments. Love Him with everything in you and love your neighbor as yourself. That is the point. Only then will life no longer be meaningless.

🤷♀️ Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. Hebrews 12:12-14
Thayer's Greek Lexicon
STRONGS NT 38: ἁγιασμός
ἁγιασμός, (οῦ, ὁ, a word used only by Biblical and ecclesiastical writings (for in Diodorus 4, 39; Dionysius Halicarnassus 1, 21, ἁγισμός is the more correct reading), signifying:
1. consecration, purification, τό ἁγιάζειν.
2. the effect of consecration: sanctification of heart and life, 1 Corinthians 1:30 (Christ is he to whom we are indebted for sanctification); 1 Thessalonians 4:7; Romans 6:19, 22; 1 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 12:14; ἁγιασμός πνεύματος sanctification wrought by the Holy Spirit, 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Peter 1:2. It is opposed to lust in 1 Thessalonians 4:3f. (It is used in a ritual sense, Judges 17:3 (Alexandrian LXX); Ezekiel 45:4; (Amos 2:11); Sir. 7:31, etc.) (On its use in the N. T. cf. Ellicott on 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 1 Thessalonians 3:13.)

Daily Meditations and Affirmations - August 26, 2024
God gives us revelation of our Christ calling and then we develop a vision of the completed assignment. Because we do not fully understand our Christ identity we may find ourselves in a valley and want to give up. The fiery attack against us seems too much to stand -- until, remember that Jesus has already won the victory for us.
Since we are in Christ and are complete in His finished work of the cross -- we realize our authority and dominion over the demonic realm that Jesus won for us over satan.
"And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." - Colossians 2:15
We begin talking against the problem with the appropriate scriptures believing for complete victory -- not taking no for an answer -- persisting until the fires and floods have been extinguished and triumph has been achieved.
"I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart." - Mark 11:23
Affirmations: Christ in me is the hope of glory. (Col. 1:27)
"Do you not realize the Jesus Christ is in you?" (2 Cor 13:5)
Since I am in Jesus Christ all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in me. (Col. 2:9,10)
God has put eternity in my heart. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
The Lord is like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I cannot contain it any longer. (Jer.20:9)

What should have our attention?
Ecclesiastes 7:13
Accept the way God does things, for who can straighten what he has made crooked?
John 5:19
So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.”
We should pay attention to what God is doing and the way he is working in our lives and in the world around us.
Hebrews 2:3-4
So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.
Luke 8:18
So pay attention to how you hear. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given. But for those who are not listening, even what they think they understand will be taken away from them.
1 Corinthians 2:2
For I decided that while I was with you I would forget everything except Jesus Christ, the one who was crucified.
We should pay attention to the message Jesus has for us. What Jesus says is reinforced by who he is—God’s Son. If Jesus was not God’s Son, he would be incapable of raising us from the dead. He would have no power to save us and take us to heaven. Think of the most important person on earth. If that person wanted to talk with you, would you listen? Would you give him or her your full attention? How much more important is the Son of God!
Psalm 119:78
I will concentrate on your commandments.
2 Peter 1:19
Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts.
God’s Word deserves our attention. Through his Word, God speaks to us and brings us life that last forever.
Proverbs 16:20
Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful.
Proverbs 19:27
If you stop listening to instruction, my child, you will turn your back on knowledge.
Proverbs 22:17
Listen to the words of the wise; apply your heart to my instruction.
Proverbs 5:13
Oh, why didn’t I listen to my teachers? Why didn’t I pay attention to my instructors?
Proverbs 5:1
My son, pay attention to my wisdom; listen carefully to my wise counsel.
It’s essential to pay attention to the instruction we receive from God’s Word and from wise counselors or teachers. If we don’t, we may be turning our backs on God himself.
Matthew 7:15
Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.
Matthew 16:11-12
Why can’t you understand that I’m not talking about bread? So again I say, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’” Then at last they understood that he wasn’t speaking about the yeast in bread, but about the deceptive teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
We must be alert to the deception of false prophets and false teachers, those who twist God’s Word to make it say whatever they want. Pay attention to their wiles, but not their words. If a person is not speaking for God, we should not accept that person’s teaching as from God.
Mark 13:32-33
However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!
Luke 21:31, 34-36
In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that the Kingdom of God is near . . . Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth. Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough to escape these coming horrors and stand before the Son of Man.
1 Thessalonians 5:4-6
But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.
Be prepared for the day when Jesus promised he would return again by paying attention to the way you live. Live as if he is coming back today.
Ephesians 6:18
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.
Matthew 26:41
Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!
Your prayer life deserves your focused attention. That’s how you best connect to God himself.
1 Corinthians 16:13
Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.
1 Timothy 4:16
Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.
1 Timothy 4:8
Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.
The growth and strengthening of our spiritual lives deserves our attention. If it pays to exercise our bodies so we keep them healthy, how much more it pays to build our souls so they are healthy.
