This I guess is gonna be a fairly rambley post where I discuss some of the ideas I have for a a thing that might (?) become some sort of TTRPG campaign or just its own thing. Also it's an excuse to get some of my older art out there. I guess straight away strong warning for body horror, gore, eyestrain, and light warning for vomitting.

So Toby and Corneliya are the only characters involved in this mess that are super developed and happen to also be the main "victims" of what I'm terming as "angellic corruption". (Art below of each character, in order. Really need to do some updates on Toby in general.)

Essentially, this is just an extension on the concept that powerful creatures influence the environment around them. This is a pretty common idea in relation to things like dragons in DnD, but I'm aiming to extend this to literally everything. Angels, demons, etc.; I'm just focusing on angels here because it's the only one currently relevant to what I'm concepting.

Angellic corruption is the process of creatures and people starting to mutate to better mimic an angellic form. In this instance, the forms generally associated with the goddess of justice/revenge, which is a lot of classic angel motifs, stone, blood, and self mutilation (y'know like how justice is blind and it's an eye for an eye, very funny).

This is a segway into heavy body horror.

The way I have things thought out at the moment, the first signs are things like small mammals and fish being weirdly feathery and stony, with the next to be afflicted being those with closest contact to the source of the corruption. Corneliya and Toby are those closest to the source, as Corneliya is very actively doing as she's told to eradicate "injustice" through using Toby to kill a LOT of people. Problem: being in such contact also means Corneliya is going literally insane, so she's not all that concerned about any of this. Toby is a fairly normal dude however, and a doctor tends to notice things like vomiting and growing feathers, and is actively concerned about wtf is happening. Thus, these sketches:

So you end up with a situation where the head of the church is hiding the fact her costume stopped being a costume a few weeks ago, the wildlife are shooting spikes at people and are generally in massive amounts of pain, and the only one who an inkling of what's happening is Toby. A man who's been blackmailed into this whole affair and might be too late at the point where he starts actually noticing this stuff to actually do anything about it.

Headcanons… headcanons… hmm

Well, starting with the obvious, Paradox goes to therapy as I’ve mentioned which I think is hilarious. He and Lance are the only Shadows who really have their shit together which is why I think Sonadow works well for them? (we stan healthy relationships guys)

I do head canon that Eight doesn’t like being touched really at all anymore. After the metal virus, he grew so used to the fact that he couldn’t touch anyone that it sorta just stuck. He does it to save people, but not anything more. :(

And while I’m a sucker for the Trans Sonic HC I decided not to implement it in this particular AU!

I really want to include Captain Sonic and Shadow, but I haven’t played nor watched a serious play through of the game. (I’ve only really listened to a bit of the Snapcube dub..)

can someone tell me if Shadow is a Barista or a Mechanic in that game btw?? I google it, nothing pops up. I could’ve sworn there was something about a mechanic.

Uhh I LOVE Sonic Frontiers, fire game. If I include that one, it’ll ALSO be Sonamy since I’m pretty sure that game takes place before SA2 in canon?

I’m trying to keep the Sonics and Shadows balanced but I’d love to add Generations Shadow and Sonic. Just thinking of names already I get “Doom” for Shadow and “Emerald” for Sonic. (Referencing the fake emerald from their interaction in the shadow story)

Unfortunately I haven’t seen the Archie comics or Sonic Underground so I wouldn’t even know where to begin.

Ahahah just kidding! But I am very fast. A few years ago I convinced myself I was a “slow drawer” because I was in a discord server with someone I looked up to (and holy cheese they could draw out fully articulate sketches in like 30 seconds!)

So I got insecure and taught myself to draw really fast. So now I just.. zoom! This does have a terrible draw back where I will very frequently forget smaller details.

Like if you look at half the posts, Shadow is missing his eyeliner and other markings frequently.

he didn't get very far, as he was handcuffed to the steel table in front of him. consequently, you had been pushing his buttons to the extreme- mentioning his dark childhood, poking fun at all his attempts to pursue women and ultimately failing, their rejection contributing to his murderous acts. meanwhile, he had sat there silently, seething, taking in your words. a ticking bomb. and so it was only a matter of time before he snapped.

but, that was all it took for aaron to immediately intervene from his place behind you. he had been supervising your interrogation, adding supporting details when appropriate while you maintained the lead; you were conveniently the definition of the unsub's victimology.

likewise, you knew you had the guy, there was no question otherwise. he fit the profile the team had developed perfectly, all evidence gathered linked him to each crime, he matched the composite sketch given by a witness. all you needed was a confession.

it all happened fast - you barely had the opportunity to recoil as the unsub attempted to invade your senses- there was nothing else in your line of vision but him.

for some reason, you hadn't considered the effect of your words. sure, you wanted to get a reaction- that was the whole point- to get that confession, but not once did you think the unsub would lay a hand on you. anything he tried, you assumed it would just be to frighten you. and you weren't the type to be frightened either.

while you weren't on the edge of your seat, anticipating a potential attack, aaron was.

before your mind had even processed danger pointed directly at yourself, aaron was shielding a protective arm in front of you, limiting access.

you were met with the coarse yet gentle fabric of aaron's suit jacket as he caged you in his arms, escorting you briskly out of the interrogation room himself. harsh insults from the unsub followed behind the two of you.

"hotch."

nothing.

you tried again, "aaron, let me-"

"no." aaron ordered, his tone tight as he released his hold on you. his signature glare was as prominent as ever, his brown eyes full of fury. "stay here."

part of you wanted to resist, not wanting to let this sick son of a bitch feel any satisfaction. but from the visible vein throbbing angrily in aaron's forehead, you knew it was in your best regard to stay put.

you huffed out a breath as you surrendered, and aaron retreated swiftly back into the room, the door slamming shut behind him.

you sidled alongside rossi, who had been observing behind the glass. as soon as you settled in place next to him, he let out a small chuckle.

"what?" you questioned, crossing your arms in front of your chest. you turned your head to look at him, to catch his eye while aaron's merciless voice was floating in the background, "-if you ever even so look at her again-"

"oh nothing." dave held his gaze straight ahead, not pulling his eyes away from aaron, who had yet to let up on ripping the unsub a new one. "nothing at all."

The Creation of a Physical Copy of Coming Home (But Not to You) - The complete summary

Since, I promised I would update this as soon as I started working on it and boy, has it been several hours of me trying to learn how to use Microsoft word, hundreds of songs in my Jayvik playlist and perhaps, a small minor emotional breakdown. I have gotten Coming Home (But Not to You) formatted for bookbinding.

I hope @lesbianherald knows that they have not only written about 678 pages of a glorious and beautiful story but when in book format, that comes out to be 340 pages which is bigger than Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare (which.. you out wrote him twice). I swear, I promised to update you and that’s literally all I have besides a minor practice signature before I venture out to find a book suitable to hold the piece and paper that looks a tad more vintage.

The first draft pages in word looked like this, this was also MY final concept before I went out of my way to make a little page design in procreate. (Featured later)

Okay, we’ve settled on some covers. Might be wondering why I didn’t want to make one from scratch? I didn’t want to weather it, personally. It’s a lot more work and the threading and binding itself is going to take most of my time. I’m working on A4 (Actually, it ended up being smaller than A4 at about 11 by 8.25 but when folded it’s 5.5 by 8.25) paper format, having to adjust my measurements as we go because they were drastically different in the word document. I edited some of the features of the pages and actually sketched out a design for my Cricut to use for the cover and chapter page emblems for just a little personal flare!

I actually went to the thrift store and broke apart books that werent in use to provide me a proper book board because the ones I had were too thick! Reuse and recycle, baby! (All for the power of Jayvik)

A little thing about this project is that I actually bought weathered paper for this! Yeah, that.. it didn’t end up coming LMAO. I did buy some book corners for some metal flare. The hexcore design I drew out, myself, in procreate and also cut out in Cricut (thank you, TikTok tutorials).

A little fact as well; I haven’t bookbinded in 3 years! My books when I started were actually GOD awful— which is also part of why I chose a base book frame because that was my biggest weakness when it came to this. The binding itself was actually the easiest part to me when I started! I kid you not, I did very much come out of retirement because of Jayvik. I wanted a physical book I could mark and leave notes on, so why not make it myself? I’m extremely thankful, I got permission to do this and plan on doing this with another one of my favorite Jayvik fanfictions once it is completed, so perhaps… maybe. I don’t know, after I had gotten all the signatures out I had realized that the book covers used WERE TOO SMALL! This is the book before pressing for over 48 hours and in a middle of a snowstorm!

And the book is binded! I had used wax thread which is already thicker and way more durable and actually made for bookbinding. It has already had about two layers of glue on the binding but I tend to do about four just for extra strength and protection. It should be going in the book in about a day or two, which will lead to the final update of this!

It took me about three well-spread out days, six hours of actual sewing and teaching myself how to use a curved needle without violently stabbing my skin but I was able to get the box-stitch in.. I tried to even out the layers as I had binded too fast in one part and two signatures ended up being uneven, whoops. I fixed that with a tap of a literal hammer (No pun intended) but this was truly an experience. The parts with the open black page on front is when the stitching was glued and the book pages were placed on. This also meant I had the actual book for it to sit in ready. Which was crazy to think about.

Would you believe me if I told you I measured this all by eye and had to cut the pages four different ways to make this book actually become a book. The next paragraphs will be glamor shots. Thank you for sticking with me— encouraging me on this because of my LACK of experience in this entire field and prayers for my poor fingers.

And we’re here, it’s finished and settled. Here are the glamor shots. I do plan on doing more bookbinding in the future as I DID enjoy the process but folding and making signatures will forever be my enemy. Here’s the glamor shots and underneath the cut is all my reactions and build up to finishing this monster of a book.

A couple things, I never want to do this again. If I ever do a fanfiction THIS big again. I’m spilting it into two books, perhaps even three depending on how big it is. The symbol on the front is the Piltover symbol, I tried to find Jayce’s Talis house symbol and THERES NOTHING, I literally tried drawing and everything. My Cricut didn’t want to cut it and trust me, I tried for over three hours with the symbol.

What only matters is that I think it’s cute. I think the simplicity and mix of tears added to the final design a lot more than I thought it would.

If I ever do this again. (Knowing me, I will.) I plan on revisiting this, probably make another version when I have more bookbinding knowledge under my belt LMAO, but enjoy this lengthy post. I’m now going to go to bed.

Also huge shout out to my Zelda art book for being my primary book press for this entire thing. I really need a book press.

How do charr hands function? Here's my headcanon (with drawings!)

So I made this poll earlier today and I ended up making some sketches to explain how I headcanon charr hands and their supposedly retractable yet too big claws. The idea is that both the game and the books are partially right: claws can be big (not as big as the models), and they're semi-retractable (so fully-fluffy paws). [Disclaimer: I am bad at anatomical drawings and did not try to make them super accurate :')]

Basically charr fingers are made of three phalanges, but functionally they're just two, with the 2nd and 3rd being much shorter and sort of "merging" with the claw itself, which is mostly supported by the 3rd and starts very close to the knuckle between them. The palm is covered almost entirely by a skin pad/paw pad, which usually extends to the first phalanx of each finger, and the fingertips are covered by pads as well.

The claws are semi-retractile, though the exact range of motion depends on the individual's genetics (claw size and shape + hand anatomy) and preferences (how much they trim the claw). The ability to retract their claws is managed by specialized extra tendons and muscles in the hand's structure, and they can lock the claw in place or move it, even while the fingers are bent, though with some limitation at the extremes of movement. While the claw at rest will stay at a "safe" angle, the claw's bed can shift on the cartilage structure when pulled, sliding back into a "sheathed" position or be pushed outwards. [note: I was too scared to go too far with the "x-ray" sketches and probably the claws could go a bit further back in the finger lol]

Ancestrally, this system kept the claws from always digging into the ground and losing sharpness when running on all fours, while still allowing for extra grip when necessary (similar to cheetahs) and the use when fighting or taking down prey. During the evolutionary transition in which charr started walking upright most of the time and using tools, it lost some of its ancestral necessity and functionality. However, instead of turning into something vestigial, charr evolved the ability of controlling each claw's movement independently from the rest of the finger, allowing for greater precision, fine motor skills and dexterity.

The pad grants grip and softer manipulation of items, while the claw handles movements finer and more precise than the pad allows, and other races find it complex, fascinating or a bit freaky. Some say that charr are as dexterous than humans, if not more, which is quite an accomplishment for creatures with such big hands.

That said, variety is huge among charr. Some have stubby paws with big, wide claws, while others have long, slender fingers with narrow claws.

Claws are still used as a natural weapon by many soldiers, but it's totally not uncommon for charr to file their claws down or keep them blunt, as there's a huge variety of reasons for not wanting sharp knives on one's fingers (job requirements, handling of delicate materials, safer interactions with cubs or creatures with softer skin, personal preference, etc), and some even keep their claws at different lengths for specific uses.

That said, claws can't be trimmed beyond the quick without bleeding or potential damage, and since it extends out of the sheath it's not possible for a charr to fully sheath their claws. Claws grow quite fast to make up for the daily wear and tear, so upkeep must be done regularly, as trimming too much might temporarily impact coordination. Declawing can happen during combat or following injury, and those affected might wear prosthetics/fake claws to make up for it.
