i think when shizun smiles earnestly, it’s so beautiful and refreshing that everyone’s meridians in a five mile radius are cleansed and reenforced, their bodies purged of all impurities and their heart demons banished, but his smiles are so rare, so precious, it hits everyone like a freight train and leaves them speechless.

but when he’s trying to muffle his laughter—the loud, boisterous, uncontrollable, takes-you-by-surprise kind—i think it looks a bit like a grimace. his nose scrunches like he’s just hit his elbow and he’s trying not to moan about it, the corners of his mouth pinch downwards like when he’s scowling, but just a bit lopsided, and his eyes scrunch up in a way reminiscent of when he scoffs at the contents of a contrived story. the skin of his cheeks folds with the movement, his smile lines deepen and stretch, and he has shallow dimples on his chin when he pushes his bottom lip upwards to hold back his amusement.

he knows he looks ridiculous, so he attempts to stomp down any reaction whenever something funny happens at inopportune moments (which is always, in his mind—he should never look so undignified, immortal master that he is), attempting at a stony, unmoved expression, but it slips through sometimes.

thing is, he does look a bit ridiculous, a bit odd—but everyone, when they witness it, is enraptured. when the fan flutters, snaps open, and censors it, they all heave a disappointed sigh inside their hearts, and get back to what they were doing, now half a measure more wistful than before.

landoscar as that one ex situationship that leaves you (lando) face down suicidal on your best friend's carpet for months on end is so inspired as a concept. i'm in awe.

your writing is also so good at evoking emotion because i have genuinely never hated oscar piastri as darkly and vehemently and viciously as i did reading certain scenes in this fic... but ultimately i also completely understood why he did everything he did, based on his characterization, and what kind of person he is (and how that makes eta!landoscar incompatible at the end of the day). as a landoscar/norstappen girl you totally sold me on the maxcar agenda here. i also still can't catch my breath after reading that in one gulp like i think i'm having an anxiety attack??

the Max F of it all is so incredible to me because it’s like. post-lando losing the championship bc of oscar, he and max spent all of winter break together. and then lando does the thing where he falls really really fucking hard for oscar and max is like. I can’t watch you break your own heart again. I can’t believe you’re being this stupid. He’s going to fuck you over again. and… he was right. he was right about it all. but still, post-zandvoort, he ends up picking up the pieces anyway. god… the emotional and unwritten nortrell reunion… quietly holding hands in the airport bodies shuffled close together as they fly back to london :/

“best friend’s carpet” Ackshully 🤓☝️ they share a bed for a while and then one night when lando thinks max is sleeping lando’s like. body turned away on his side sadly trying to jerk off and kind of humping the bed and he’s struggling. and can’t come….. and then it happens the next night. and the next. and then the next… until max finally says something and he’s like- sleepy and annoyed and he just says, kind of meanly, jesus fucking christ. And that’s all it takes for lando to finally get over the erectile dysfunction. Anyway. that spirals into lando humping max’s thigh and like mouthing at his neck and they kind of don’t talk abt it (max F has a girlfriend…) and then one night lando asks max to like. Be mean to him…... To say things… Maybe choke him a bit. And max is like horrified and he’s like. Mate. what the fuck. I actually care about you. And that’s the end to that. Still bffs forever but that was a bit of a flop era 👍

I never feel inspired to gif cool scenes with witty dialogue, I just gif for thirst reasons because I'm a dumpster of a human. ETA: It got really long and didn't even scratch the surface tbh.

For Rob, I'll start with this one. I feel like I post it every time someone asks me about my favorite gifs or moments but listen, that man's god damn belly makes me feral. The context of the scene is also just peak Dad™ for me so it was 10000/10, absolutely had to gif this the second I watched:

This is an interview but you know when you first start checking out a new dude and you see gifs from interviews/shows where they look particularly tasty and you're immediately like I must find this and watch it or else I will perish. That was this interview for me. And how could it not be? Again...BELLY. Hairy belly. Just big, soft, delicious man meat. And thighs. As soon as I found it I had to gif it for myself so I could make it as obnoxiously big as humanly possible.

I watched this zoom live and the moment this motherfucker turned his head my brain said "gif it". Profile? Nose? Greys?

And this shot too. This man was fucking born to smile, he puts his whole ass into it.

This. His arms here. This scene was dark af but I knew I had to gif it anyway. I adore the shape of this man. It feels so fucking real to me. Soft belly, sizeable arms that still look natural. It's realistic, it's comfy, it's fucking sexy. He's just fucking man-shaped.

I don't even have to tell you why because I know you get it.

Soft cozy men? 👀Then they were kind enough to give us the most beautiful close-up shots of his face. And the boy just has a beautiful fucking face.

Yes, my big fic has a soundtrack...it has many soundtracks, this was just the first and the main one. I will eventually consolidate them (main, birthday, maybe the Gates Family Secrets as well)...that'd make it over two hours of retro 80s & 90s music (and a few oldie oldies like Billie Holiday and Elvis, and a couple of others). Mostly a lesson in 90s music since it's Donovan's era and that's what Afterburn Wednesday listens to.

I didn't know that Ortega had credited Siouxie Sioux for her freak dance before I included "Peek-A-Boo" in this. I just never followed her or paid attention to what she said before I started writing Afterburn (and barely follow her now, but I catch up quick). It can also be heard (softly) during "The Truce" (the audio play with Bianca). Guess wavelengths just matched up somehow.

Anyway, I'm a nerd. I like to offer more than just the writing. Music helps the immersion. I do have a short Miller's Girl fic soundtrack in the works, but it's nothing special like this.

I tried several times for Weemsbot to give me a good one, but it failed to give me great ones like Wenclair did (haven't even tried Laurel...👀). For some reason, my Weems is obsessed with the color blue. Like this color 🔵. So I usually get pics with that blue inserted into it, even after I tell her to knock it off. So when I asked for Wonder Woman, she kept modifying the damn suit with blues where they shouldn't be.

Weems Wonder Woman was also consistently red haired, and I have zero clue why. This is probably the better of the ones that it gave:
