I’ve had consistent problems with my right ear ever since I was little. I had countless ear infections as a kid and when I was 10 I had a cholesteatoma removed along with (if I remember correctly) having one of my inner ear bones replaced. After that I’ve just dealt with constant pain, vertigo, popping, and intermittent total hearing loss in that ear. It’s not very good at being an ear. I finally decided to talk to my PCP about this and she referred me to an ENT- yippee another specialist for my collection. Amazingly I got an appointment made within two weeks of the referral and I’m actually supposed to see him this week. So offfffff course my ear decides to act up in the most painful way it has in a While. I’m worried I either have an infection or my ear drum is trying to rupture. It did that back in 2018 and my already bad hearing got even worse so I really don’t think I have much to lose at this point. Which is unfortunate because if my doctor decides I need a hearing aid… I simply won’t be able to afford it. My insurance only covers adults of three specific categories, of which I am not, and hearing aids are crazy expensive. So I simply will only have one good ear as I likely continue to lose my hearing in my bad ear. I’m hopeful for the appointment to go well but god I could really go without this pain. Wish me luck and also can we make hearing aids more accessible???? Like hello wtf is that about???

It pains me to have to do this, but I have put these surgeries off for as long as I can, and I’m now being told by my Ortho that I’m doing possibly irreparable damage by not having surgery.
Every dollar helps and will only be spent on medical expenses, not on my rent which has been raised because I’m actively seeking a second job and any other way I can make money on the side - proofreading/editing anything from high school papers to theses to books and articles - resume writing - tutoring, etc.
Thank you for visiting my GoFundMe. 🙏🏻

Why Sinuses Are Worse in the Winter
As winter arrives, many people find themselves dealing with uncomfortable sinus issues. Whether it's a stuffy nose, sinus pressure, or persistent headaches, the colder months seem to exacerbate these problems. Understanding why sinuses are worse in the winter can help us take preventive measures and manage the symptoms effectively.
Dry Air: During the winter, the air tends to be drier due to lower humidity levels. Dry air can irritate the nasal passages and sinuses, leading to inflammation and congestion.
Indoor Heating: Indoor heating systems keep us warm and cozy, but they can also dry out the air in our homes. Dry indoor air can further irritate the sinuses and worsen existing sinus problems.
Reduced Ventilation: In winter, people tend to keep windows and doors closed to keep the cold out. This reduced ventilation can lead to a buildup of allergens, dust, and pollutants indoors, exacerbating sinus symptoms.
Increased Allergens: Though outdoor allergens may decrease during winter, indoor allergens like dust mites, pet dander, and mold can become more concentrated, triggering sinus issues in susceptible individuals.
Viral Infections: Common colds and flu are more prevalent in the winter, and these viral infections can affect the sinuses, causing congestion, inflammation, and sinusitis.
Temperature Changes: Moving between cold outdoor temperatures and heated indoor environments can cause blood vessels in the nasal passages to expand and contract rapidly, leading to congestion and discomfort.
Tips for Relief
To alleviate sinus problems during the winter, consider the following tips:
Use a humidifier to add moisture to indoor air.
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Keep indoor spaces clean and dust-free.
Practice good hand hygiene to reduce the risk of viral infections.
Use a saline nasal spray to moisturize and clear the nasal passages.
Avoid exposure to known allergens and irritants.
Winter can be a challenging time for those prone to sinus issues. Dry air, indoor heating, allergens, and viral infections are some of the factors that contribute to worsened sinus problems during this season. By understanding the root causes and implementing preventive measures, individuals can better manage their sinus symptoms and enjoy a more comfortable winter season. If sinus issues persist or become severe, seeking medical advice from an ENT surgeon near you can be beneficial.

The Importance of Regular ENT Checkups: Why Early Detection Matters
Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialists play a crucial role in maintaining your overall health. Regular checkups with an ENT specialist are essential for identifying potential issues in these areas before they develop into more serious problems. Early detection and treatment of ENT disorders can prevent long-term complications and improve your quality of life.
Why ENT Health Is Important
Your ears, nose, and throat are interconnected parts of your body that affect your senses, breathing, and speech. Problems in one area can often affect others, making it important to keep them in good condition. Common ENT issues such as treatment of hearing loss, sinus infections, tonsillitis, and voice disorders can all have a significant impact on your daily activities.
Signs That You Should See an ENT Specialist
Hearing ProblemsIf you notice difficulty hearing or frequent ringing in your ears (tinnitus), it could indicate hearing loss or an ear infection. Early treatment can prevent further damage to your hearing.
Chronic Sinus ProblemsFrequent sinus infections or allergies that don’t improve with over-the-counter treatments should be examined by an ENT specialist. They can help identify the cause and recommend effective treatment options.
Sore Throat or HoarsenessIf you experience persistent sore throats, hoarseness, or difficulty swallowing, it could signal a serious underlying issue like throat infections, vocal cord problems, or even cancer.
Frequent Nosebleeds or Nasal CongestionRecurring nosebleeds or persistent nasal congestion may indicate underlying conditions like nasal polyps or a deviated septum, both of which require professional evaluation.
Balance or Dizziness IssuesProblems with balance or dizziness could be linked to inner ear issues. These problems may be signs of vertigo, Meniere’s disease, or other disorders that require medical attention.
Why Early Detection Matters
Regular ENT checkups allow for early detection of problems, leading to more effective treatments and better outcomes. If left untreated, conditions like hearing loss, chronic sinus infections, or throat cancer can worsen and affect your overall health. Early diagnosis also helps prevent complications that could require more invasive treatments or surgeries.
Scheduling regular ENT checkups is crucial for maintaining optimal health. If you experience any persistent symptoms like hearing loss, sore throats, or nasal issues, don’t wait to seek help from the best ENT doctor in Gorewada, Nagpur. Early detection can prevent more severe problems and improve your long-term well-being. Make your ENT health a priority and schedule a checkup today.

What to Do Immediately After a Nasal Bone Fracture: First Aid Tips
A nasal bone fracture, commonly known as a broken nose, can occur due to trauma such as accidents, falls, or sports injuries. It’s one of the most common types of facial fractures and can lead to pain, swelling, and difficulty breathing. Knowing the proper steps to take immediately after a nasal bone fracture can help minimize further injury and promote a quicker recovery. Here’s what you should do if you suspect a nasal bone fracture.
1. Stay Calm and Assess the Injury
The first thing to do after a nasal bone fracture is to remain calm. Panicking can make it harder to assess the severity of the injury. Check for visible signs of a broken nose, such as swelling, bruising around the eyes, or an abnormal shape. You may also notice that the nose looks crooked or misaligned. If the injury involves severe bleeding or difficulty breathing, immediate medical attention is essential.
2. Control Bleeding
Nosebleeds are common with nasal fractures. To control the bleeding:
Sit upright with your head tilted slightly forward. This helps prevent blood from flowing down your throat, which can cause choking or nausea.
Pinch your nostrils together gently, using your thumb and index finger, and breathe through your mouth. Maintain pressure for 5–10 minutes until the bleeding subsides.
Avoid lying down, as it can increase blood flow to the nose and worsen the bleeding.
3. Apply Ice
To reduce swelling and pain, apply ice or a cold compress to the nose and surrounding areas. Wrap the ice in a cloth or use a store-bought cold pack to avoid direct contact with the skin, which can cause frostbite. Apply the ice for 15–20 minutes every hour for the first few hours following the injury.
4. Avoid Touching or Manipulating the Nose
Do not try to straighten or reposition the nose on your own. Doing so can cause more damage to the nasal bone and cartilage. It’s important to seek professional medical help for proper realignment.
5. Seek Medical Attention
If you suspect a nasal bone fracture, it’s important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. An ENT specialist or a doctor will examine the injury, and an X-ray may be required to confirm the fracture. Depending on the severity, your doctor may recommend treatments such as a nasal splint, or in some cases, surgery if the fracture is severe or misaligned.
A nasal bone fracture is painful, but with the right first aid steps, you can reduce the risk of complications and promote a smoother recovery. Remember to stay calm, control bleeding, apply ice, and avoid manipulating the nose. Above all, seek immediate medical attention to ensure proper treatment. If you suspect a nasal bone fracture, contact an ENT specialist in Nagpur to assess the injury and get the necessary care for a faster recovery.
