‘‘I think about all the orphans in the world, I think about the people that other people tend to forget, I think about the teachers who get bullied in the classroom but I also think about the people with no house. I like to think all day, every day about some people that missed their flight, some people with no money and I just like to think a lot. And I think if we combine all those thoughts then we`re getting somewhere. I`m all about progression.’’ - Joost Klein

When I was little I used to listen to CDs before bed, mostly Crazy Frog Presents Crazy Hits, but occasionally during the holidays I would listen to Dutch Sinterklaas and Christmas songs.
Sadly my parents have gotten rid of most of their music CDs, including that one. This Dutch Christmas CD had this song about a shining star that's pretty normal, but then by the end it has this intense part where the composition takes a wild turn both vocal and instrumental as they sing about the star crashes into the snow and fucking dies. (They didn't literally say this, they said it fell into the snow and its light dimmed as the song ended)
I really want to find that song again, I've been going through discogs and whatnot trying to look for Dutch Christmas CDs that came out before 2005/2006, but searching for a Christmas song about a star, even in Dutch, is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I vaguely remember the lyrics at the end being something along the lines of "de ster viel in de sneeuw terwijl zijn lichtje doofde" (raw as hell fr) but it's been tricky finding it.
Dutch Tumblr help me out I wanna find this song and lowkey sample the ending part by reversing it as it has this intense "birth of a star" vibe

Wednesday, November 19: VUUR, "The Martyr and the Saint - Beirut"
Although Anneke van Giersbergen followed her muse and carved out an interesting career for herself after leaving the Gathering, the universal consensus was that she shined brightest when her angelic and open-hearted tenor floated over metallic backdrops.  And yet when she finally gave in and fronted a proper metal outfit developed specifically for her, VUUR was largely greeted with a muted response.  Perhaps the outfit swung a smidge too far towards the esoteric, and/or the writing simply wasn’t as sharp as what we came to expect from Anneke’s appearances on Devin Townsend and Arjen Lucassen records, but In This Moment We Are Free – Cities just didn’t grab hold.  More likely, although Anneke sounded fantastic as always, tunes like "The Martyr and the Saint – Beirut" were more vibe than song, nodding to prog without actually landing there or offering something else in its place.  To be fair, the vibe was pretty cool, and the track had an almost ambient metal feel which complemented the vocals perfectly.  The formlessness could border on aimlessness, and the force of Anneke’s personality was simply not strong enough to overpower the nondescript nature of the playing behind her.
