Dustin Gibson argues that "race and disability were pathologized in a way that we can't separate them now.... I think we can't literally talk about ableism without talking about racism"; therefore, he continues, "I don't think that there's such thing as anti-Black ableism ... ableism is inherently anti-Black.”

Patrick Cokley similarly explains that in some regards "ableism is very much one and the same with racism because what we're really talking about is who has agency in our culture."

The relationship between racism and ableism (and other systems of op-pression) is most expansively articulated by TL Lewis, whom I quote at length in order to make clear not merely how Lewis and other Black disabled activists and cultural workers understand the relationships between these systems conceptually but also how this intersectional understanding shapes political approaches to social change. Lewis states:

I always chuckle about this because my brain doesn't disconnect them. There is no racism without ableism. There is no ableism without racism... you quite literally can't have one without the other.... There is a fundamental lack of understanding of the connections between racism and ableism, classism, and other structural and systemic oppressions that is killing us because if we understood those things—how they are connected, how there's an unbroken chain between asylums, plantations, zoos, circuses, and prisons—then we would be able to actually fight all of those things collectively and very differently.... [If we did make those connections,] then we would be able to have a much more holistic understanding of what is going on in our society but also a much stronger framework from which to unearth the histories... these collective histories and then dismantle the system—all of these systems....So long as we continue to allow people to think that it is just one or the other, we are going to keep spinning our wheels and not being able to identify the cause of the harm, which is all of these systems operating simultaneously.

Okay, so Twisters came out this weekend, which means I had to watch Twister again, and I really need to gush about this movie.

Twister is one of two disaster movies that I can watch repeatedly without it getting old (Armageddon is my other favorite). And part of it is because of the characters.

Jo, Bill, and Melissa aside; who were all magnificent characters, I adored Jo’s team just as much!!!

Tim ‘Beltzer’ Lewis came off like Jo’s second in command. Usually when Jo went off ahead and the group stopped to gather data, Beltzer seemed to take charge. He was usually one of the first people Jo called for and would be the first to start giving orders. Beltzer is a bit of a nerd, having quoted Star Wars in his excitement when he thought they were going to get ‘Dorthy’ up. He also a bit of a goof, saying ‘he was without apparel’ when Bill kept insisting he wasn’t butt naked when they met. It is also clear Beltzer has been doing this for a while because he was part of the retelling of stories from the early days along with Dustin and Rabbit.

Haynes travels a little with Beltzer for the first half of the movie. The two have a close relationship as they are usually together in scenes. Beltzer physically moves Haynes away to give Jo and Bill space in the beginning and even holds Haynes to give her comfort when Aunt Meg got hurt. The two also sing Oklahoma together when everyone was excitedly chasing after the first tornado of the day. Haynes for her part seems to be one of the data technicians. She helps monitor the data reports and she knows what she is looking at, being the one to identify that the F5 tornado at the end of the movie was going to shift before anyone else did. She is also usually handling data print outs.

In the next vehicle you got Robert ‘Rabbit’ Nurick. Rabbit is a pretty heavily featured character and part of that is because he is the primary navigator of the group. The cab of Rabbit and Sanders’ truck is full of maps which Rabbit uses to help find the fastest and most efficient ways for the group to chase the tornado. Rabbit has to know the area well, has to fully understand how to read maps, and how to quickly adapt. Rabbit is also particular. His first scene is him snapping at Sanders due to one of his maps being folded instead of rolled. He also tries to sooth others, explaining very patiently to Aunt Meg that she can’t drive herself to the hospital due to her car being in a tree.

Rabbit rides is a car with Sanders. Sanders is one of the younger members of the group. He is still pretty excitable, being one of the people to chime in over the radio when they were looking at a tornado and having nothing useful to really add except that it was ‘beautiful’. Sanders also helps with data analysis and navigation.

The next vehicle is probably the most green members of the group. Joey and Laurence. Both of them know Bill, so they were there when Bill was earlier, but they are more inexperienced than the rest of the team. Laurence was probably on his first major field project. Jo had scolded him at the beginning for not properly maintaining the equipment and he referred to Beltzer as ‘Sir’. He is only one to suggest they throw in the towel after the first close call and when they are taking cover in the drive in, Laurence was the only person to try to hide in a car instead of underground. He also froze in fear and Jo had to pull him out. So he likely hasn’t done this before. Joey in addition was a little inexperienced but he and Laurence were monitoring the satellite data. Joey is also a little looser in his priorities. When the others are excited about the data they were getting from ‘Dorthy’ finally flying, Joey yells ‘we are going to be so popular!’

The two also appear to be close. Not only are they in a truck together but at the end of the movie when Laurence collapses on the ground in relief, Joey immediately starts playing rock-paper-scissors with him until Dusty interrupts and Laurence then clings to Dustin’s leg. They are younger, more playful, and Dusty clearly enjoys that.

Speaking of Dusty, let’s talk about Dustin Davis. Dustin is probably the most goofy one, and the craziest after Jo and Bill. However unlike those two, he doesn’t have a death wish either. Dustin is one of the older and more experienced members of the team. He knows a lot about tornadoes but he’s very unorthodox. He knows the principles and the concepts but he has no patience for the scientific terms so he makes up his own that make sense to him. He is also the most outgoing of the group, going out of his way to look after Melissa and try to make her feel welcome to the group. He keeps the rest of the team smiling.

Then we have Jason ‘Preacher’ Rowe. Preacher is another older more experienced member. He seems to be in the middle of experiences, with Dusty, Rabbit, Haynes, and Beltzer on one side with Sanders, Laurence, and Joey on the other. He likes upbeat music and judging from his name and his ‘finger of god’ comment, he was likely religious.

The entire team are very intelligent individuals. They are working hard on their research project, something they are on one of their last field projects for if they don’t get results judging from Dusty’s comment about the grant money running out at the beginning. They are all adrenaline junkies for the most part (minus Laurence) but they aren’t crazy either. The entire team shows they know when to have fun and when to get serious. They know when the danger is too much and when the risks are not worth the potential rewards.

They are also a very ride or die team. Jonas was portrayed to be an enemy of Bill’s. According to Bill; he, Jo, and Jonas started in the same lab together (it’s quite possible that Jonas was part of Jo’s group when they met Bill and eventually Jonas split off to do his own thing). Jo mentions that Jonas would let Bill take the lead and then swoop in and take his ideas or the credit. It has created a huge rivalry between Jonas and Bill, which Jo’s team clearly takes Bill’s side on. Jonas doesn’t once acknowledge the others but they are quick to make fun of Jonas and his team.

The entire team also adores Jo’s Aunt Meg. Aunt Meg is the team aunt. They all adore her and she loves them. She knows this is what they ‘live for’, so she uses her home as a rest stop for them. A place where they can recharge and regroup. They come by for showers, changes of clothes, food, and momentary rest. She cares for them all and they care about her. Knowing she was in danger, the entire team rushes out to find her without a moment of hesitation. They all try to make Meg feel better and even look after her dog while she is in the hospital.

I honestly always loved this movie because of the chemistry with all the characters, how they interact, and how they all weave through the story.

I will probably watch it again soon, but I just wanted to gush about how much I adore these characters!!!!

Thinking about a Ghostbusters AU AGAIN.

Byler as Stantz and Spengler, Lucas as Venkman.

Mike’s got that autistic rizz. He collects molds, spores, and fungus, he wears those signature Spengler glasses paired with some sweater vests and bow ties. He’s nerdy and weird, and when El comes on as their receptionist and tries to flirt with him, he brushes her off and changes the subject. He makes dumb science jokes that nobody laughs at (except Will), and he laughs obnoxiously with one of those breathy, snorting laughs.

Will is his partner in crime. They both come running when there’s sign of paranormal activity, equipped with their homemade devices and their blinky lights. Will appears more normal- he’s attractive, he’s nice, he’s quiet- but he’s insufferable once you get to know him. He’ll talk for hours about the things that pique his interest, and he’s blunt. If he thinks someone’s an asshole, he’ll say so. He and Mike tend to have conversations nobody else can really understand, throwing around big words and munching on cheap takeout on the crummy old couch in the firehouse. (Sometimes, when Lucas is unlucky, he walks in on them munching on each other’s faces as well.)

Lucas is arguably the most “normal” of all of them. He’s personable, he’s charming. He actually does flirt with girls, which doesn’t go well for him because a lot of the ones they run into are more interested in Mike or Will. He’s a little bit of an asshole (who can blame him? He spends all his time getting dragged around by two nerds on a ghost chase), but he’s also their people guy. Once they start getting business, he’s the one making house calls and going on talk shows.

Just thinking about their first successful bust. Lucas, covered in slime and miserably wiping it from his face. Will is absolutely losing his shit and jumping up and down. Mike pushes his goggles up out of his eyes, and he has that darkened smudge over his face that leaves him looking like a raccoon. His hair is all standing on end, and he’s holding the trap up, watching it smoke and pop. Will bounces his way over, giddily watching the trap swing back and forth, and then he’s grabbing Mike’s face and pressing a kiss to his cheek, unfazed by the grime.

Mike holds the trap out of the way and hooks an arm around Will’s waist to pull him in for a proper kiss, and Lucas rolls his eyes, shaking the goop off his hands and letting it splatter onto the floor.

“I’m all good, thanks for asking.”

incredibly hot (well, maybe not amongst Jeremy fans but OH WELL lemme preach to the choir) take but: i find the way Jeremy is talked about his ex Succession co-stars these days so very obnoxious. Why should we or anyone care about his "method"? I watch him act fantastically on my tv screen, that alone is a joy for me, and his interviews show he cares a lot about his craft. To be too cool for school and shrug everything off is also its own method actors go about what they do - and lemme tell you, I find that so much more embarrassing than someone who might use flowery language, quote European intellectuals, and perhaps do like hearing themselves talk - the latter is pretty universal.

As a whole, idc if an actor is annoying in that sense, because I don't have to coexist with them (besides, I do know people who are indeed annoying in that way - some of them are my friends). Do they entertain me, cause me to feel emotion, will I be in awe when watching them work? If the answer to all of that is yes, then I like the actor. As long as they're not confirmed to be harrassing their castmates (or anyone at all), a creep who endangers them, or a genuine bigot, I truly DGAF. Unlike Brian Cox, apparently, who openly backs actors known to be domestic abusers and/or rapists. Plus, can't recall the last time various people have roasted Daniel Day-Lewis like that over his method... 🤔 (also: I could die very happily if I never have to hear that goddamned Laurence Olivier quote to Dustin Hoffman ever again)

Kieran's cheap shots also didn't exactly endear me to him - even though I think he's a great actor and I will see A Real Pain when it comes out in theatres here. But hm, let's just say that I am actively rooting for him to lose when he goes up against Jeremy in the Best Supporting Actor category and to also lose as Best Leading Actor if he ends up in that category when Jeremy loses in Best Supporting.

Thank you so much for that ask! I totally agree with everything you wrote.

For me one thing is true - when I watched second season of Succession, there was something in Kendall that tore me apart. I really felt his emotions and I haven't experienced that ever before watching TV show. It was so surprising, but also excilariting. Someone my age suddenly being floored by watching some rich guy mope around.

And then, later, I learned how Jeremy Strong has approached creating Kendall's character. It became clear to me that the realness of the emotions came from a very deep place of the actor, the person. To think that someone was ready to go that far for the role (he said it led him to some very dark places and that he has lost feeling of joy) makes you look at the whole craft differently.

I love how serious and thoughtful he is in describing his work, it's something so rare these days. Jeremy always says that you need to be brave and do things that scare you, and that's how he lives, and it's very inspiring.

I also agree that Kieran acts like he's just a guy who comes to do "whatever", and it's actually ironic, because from what he describes he does a lot of things similarly to Jeremy - he didn't want to rehearse in A Real Pain and he mentions that he let the Benji character act out, like he didn't know what would happen, how he would behave. That's exactly what Jeremy did while filming Succession.

It's clear that someone's process might be difficult for other actors, but from what I gather, Jeremy mostly kept to himself and was isolating, so I don't think it was such a big burden for them, other than a fact that it probably created tensed atmosphere, but on the other hand - Kieran and Sarah are best buds (she's a godmother of one of his kids) and Brian talks fondly of both of them, so they're good. The only one left out is Jeremy (not counting Alan Ruck, sorry Con), that's the choice he made and he seems to accept it.

For me the best proof of Jeremy's grace and thoughtfulness is the fact that he never reacted to Brian Cox's cheap shots; he literally said that he admires him when asked about his comments.

As to the awards, I watched A Real Pain and it's a good movie, but as a Succession freak I must say that Kieran performed Benji character in a very similar way to how he portrayed Roman, this guy is just more open about his feelings. I'm surprised it wasn't noted in any reviews, but maybe it's just me. I think Kieran might win with Jeremy because he's more liked in the industry, but for me, trying to be as objective as I can, the performance of Jeremy in 'The Apprentice' is just leaps and bounds superior to that of Kieran's in 'A Real Pain'.

You didn't wait up for Eddie to open the passenger seat door as you went down and you saw Nancy's figure from afar already looking at the woods calling Fred's name

Gareth, Jeff, Lewis and Chrissy shared same the looks as they start speed walking to follow you

You sprint your way up to Nancy until Eddie snatched your whole body away from the road when you heard the tires screeching next to you, Steve almost run you down that made you and Eddie fell down on the ground

"Oh my fucking god, are you two alright?" Steve exclaims as he gets out of his car and the rest as well

"Yeah, man, I'm good, Y/N-" Eddie grunts and you swore to himself that he heard you whimpered slightly when he carefully moves your legs aside but you still force yourself up to stand

When you get up you almost fall back down again but Steve catches you by the arms

"What's the rush?" Steve already had an idea that you're the mystery girl that Dustin and Max just told him earlier at the car

"I seriously really have no idea too" Eddie dusts himself off and both men saw the fear in your eyes

You tried to get away from Steve but he holds you in place, you called out to Nancy where she followed your voice and finally saw you and everyone

"Y/N, you're limping" Eddie inspects your leg, he figured out that you might have a bruise from the impact that just happened

"Steve, let me go" you keep looking at him back and forth with those eyes that he couldn't quite place what are you afraid of

He shoots his eyes back to the woods and to you

He only just met you but you speak his name filled with so much familiarity

It's like you already knew him before

Steve briefly nods and he does let you go and you scurried away as Eddie runs behind you

"Dude!" Eddie exclaims as he holds his hands up

"Come on" Steve muttered under his breath as they all followed you

"Nancy!"

She looked at you in confusion and the people behind your shoulder

"Who are you-"

"Where is Fred?"

"What"

"Where is Fred Benson?!?"

"I-I don't know- I told him to wait for me in the car and the next thing I know he's not there anymore- he could be in the woods?"

Your eyes are now watery, she saw the worried look on them as you brush past her

"What is going on? W-What are you guys doing here?"

Everyone ignored Nancy's questions as she also went inside of the woods too

"Y/N! you're moving too fast!" Eddie shouts as he tries to keep up with you

You loudly gasp, "O-Oh my god" you almost tripped in the branches as you come closer to him

It's happening, you could hear his breathing rapidly fast, his eyes are went extremely white with blue-ish hues on them like Chrissy's

Nancy cupped her mouth in shock when his friend's body begin to float, you frantically looked inside your bag and they all saw a wired earphones as you plug it on the device that Eddie, Dustin, Chrissy and Max just saw recently

"That's exactly like-" Eddie pants besides everyone

"What happened to me" Chrissy takes a sharp breath

Steve, Robin, Dustin, Max, Nancy, Gareth, Jeff and Lewis whipped their heads at what they just heard

"Nancy"

"Y-Yes?"

"Do you know his favorite song?"

"I-I don't-"

"Answer me! Nancy or else we can't save him!"

"It's the only way we can save your friend, Nancy, you gotta think" Chrissy went in front of her

This is all too much to bear, it's all coming to fast, she closes her eyes as she remembers one time, she catches a glimpse of Fred's cassette tapes when they're writing a school paper together

When Nancy yells the song to you, you placed the wired earphones to him as you wished that you could still save him

You wished that there's still more time, you know there might be 1% chance when he's already levitating above the air

"Fred! I know you can hear me, it's not your fault that you and your classmate got into an car accident, it was never your fault, it was an accident" you say as you look up to him hoping that you can also save him like you did to Chrissy

"What is she talking about?" Nancy furrowed her brows

"She's from the future" Eddie answered as he kept his eyes on you

"What?"

"I think it's true, Nance, Dustin told me that she saved Chrissy's life" Steve replies as he puts his hands over his hips as he pulls his brows together

You can't fucking believe it

Fred went back down on the ground as you catch him before he knock himself over

"Don't Dream It's Over" is still playing as he looked scarily everywhere in the woods thinking he might be still in the other dimension

Chrissy wipes her tear with a shaky hand, Gareth saw it as he darts his eyes back to her and to Fred

"Fred, Fred, you're here, you're safe now" you held him by the shoulders

The moment he felt your warmth beneath your touch, he knew that you're real that he's not in the other side of the world anymore as he throw his arms around you

He starts crying as you rubbed his back, you sadly smile that you saved someone again as you exhaled deeply

You finally meet Eddie's eyes that brings you so much comfort

The eyes that says that you're not alone

Lucas couldn't take it no more

He knows that he's going too far

He knows that even Max wouldn't be proud of him if he still continues to stay with them

So, he made a plan to escape them, he wanted to warn his friends

Little does he know that you already know about this

"I know where he is"

The car abruptly stopped as Jason looked at him studying him

"Well, it's about damn time, Sinclair"

"He's over at that strange hut in the woods"

"Yeah, I think I know where that is!" Patrick leans forward as he exaggeratedly nodding to Jason

"He better count his days now" Jason murmurs as the car begins to move again

Lucas took a deep breath through his nose, he knows that there's a hidden bike in there he could use it for his plan to getaway from Jason

He knows this won't be easy, he is scared for Christ sakes but he is much more terrified of what he might do to his friends

And that alone.....he won't be able to forgive himself, so, while there's still time he won't let Jason do this

El sighs in defeat as she sat down on the dining table as she pulls down the sleeves of her sweater

"It's just that- something weird happened back at the airport"

"What kind of weird?"

"I almost fell back down, right? and then Mike thought I was lightheaded but I wasn't something else flashes right before my eyes"

Will nods in understanding as he pauses in thinking as he asks "Flashes?"

"It's a person, a girl, I don't know who she is and I think there's danger ahead"

"In what?"

"Back in Hawkins, I think- it's giving me a sign, a warning"

"N-No, that's impossible- should you feel that since-"

"I know, I lost my powers few years ago but Will, I think the person in my vision is already helping our friends out there, I know I haven't met her but I feel her energy, it's so different"

"Are we going to tell this to-"

"No"

"What?"

"Don't tell anyone yet, I don't wanna make them worry"

Joyce appears right around the corner with a dish filled with food "Is anyone hungry tonight? I'm sure all of you will like this"

"Yes, I'm starving" Mike climbs downstairs as he settles besides El

"Mom, is it okay that Argyle is coming over?" Jonathan helps out putting the linens in the table before placing the dishes

"Yeah, sure, hon" Joyce smiles as she puts down the utensils

"You ok?" Mike takes El's hand as she looks at it and then back to Will with a look that says

"I'll tell him when the time is right, I promise"

"Yes, I'm doing alright"

You looked over to your side and saw Steve offering you, a glass of lemonade, you take it and softly murmured, thank you

"I'm sorry" you say with a deflated voice

Steve looked at you as if you've done something unforgivable as he shakes his head at your words, "What are you apologizing for?"

"Isn't this creepy to you?" You point to yourself and to him

"Of what? we're having an conversation?"

"No, it's me that I just spawned out of nowhere and I-I think I'm not used to all of this yet- it's surreal to me"

Steve analyses your expression, your movements and your face

You can't just pretend that you just met Steve Harrington and my god, the articles that you read about him are undeniably true

His looks, his face, the way that he talks and his infamous luscious glorious hair

Steve Harrington that you met in the convention for your report for school about the history of Hawkins, if you compare to this and now, it's making you want to hurl and die

He has that sparkle in his eyes, you can't see that anymore, the lively joy on it

And now, since you're from the future, you are dreading the idea that he'll lose them very soon

He isn't like this when you met him, it isn't because he's middle aged, sure, he is still willingly to tell people about the truth in Hawkins like Dustin did with his book

He's only killing time because he has got no will to live anymore

After....a lot of battles happened, you wouldn't blame him for it but you want to erase that thought

"Seems like you're normal to me" he just shrugs as he drinks his lemonade

His voice snaps out of your thoughts, "Huh?"

"I said that you're cool to me and-"

"Nah, that's not what you said"

"Yes, it is"

"It's another word!"

Steve is amused to this natural bickering as if he didn't almost run you over with his car an hour ago

You let out a breathy laugh, "Right, okay, Steve, your charm may work on other girls but not to me" you brush past away from him as he chuckles

"You may deny it but my charming nature will not be diminished by your words" he says with a deep voice that made you almost spit out the lemonade in your mouth

"I want the Steve back that gave me a glass of lemonade" you giggle as you gesture to him to get back

"The royal one?" Of course, he knows that you're aware of his reputation but he wants to know of what you think of him

"No, the Steve that acknowledged his mistakes, holds himself accountable for it, makes up for it, everyone thought you're mean but that's just all an act that you show at school turns out that he's got a big heart full of love and very caring, if they give him a chance, not only that he become a much better person ever"

Steve slowly opens his mouth and is completely awestruck of the words that you just said to him

You smile at him as you place your hand over his shoulder as you give him a reassuring pat

"You have no idea how much everyone adored you in my time" you show a bit of a sadly smile at him but in your eyes it shows how much you appreciate him

"Y/N!" Max pulled you with her as you mouthed "I'll talk to you later!"

Robin saw his amazement face as she follows his friend's gaze as she came into his side as she sips her own drink, his eyes never left you, "Oh, boy, what's gotten into you?"

"For the first time in my life, Robs, finally someone else sees me through who I am"

"What am I then? A wall?" She jokingly said as she begins to ramble at him

"What is like to live in the present?" Max asks as she pulls you to her side as you became the center of attention

All eyes on you and it's making you feel overwhelmed again

"Do they have flying cars in the future?" Dustin asks as he points at you

You shake at him as you watch curses something under his breath

"Music, what about music? Does future have good ones?" Gareth leans forward from his seat as he waits for your answer

"Well....." You try to appear positive about it but it turns out the exact opposite because the way Lewis notice your face scrunched up in the question

"That doesn't sound good" Jeff says as he looks at Eddie who is looking at you in curiosity

"Okay, okay, future has 50/50 of it, but in my case? I'd still choose the classics anytime and all the time"

"Why?" Fred asks as he adjust his glasses back in

"Because the music in my time doesn't feel the same anymore like it doesn't hit like it usually does" you explain it as you watch them all nod to your answer

"Movies?" You heard Steve's question before you can look beside you as you felt the couch dip when he sat himself in

"Oh, it's like the same thing with music too, it's 50/50"

"Really? Why is that?" Robin crossed both of her arms as she tilts her head at you in question

"Is it just me or nothing is good that ever comes out in the future?" Dustin says as he fixes his cap in the mirror as he looks at you in the reflection

You chuckle in amusement, "Not really, not all of them are bad, what I mean is that in music what I don't like it loses its value, the reason why we enjoy listening to music it's because we feel it, right?"

You watch them one by one agree to your words as you continue

"Right now, you could still feel that is made with love and passion but in my time? only a few of them has it and it doesn't have a soul anymore, they just make up nonsense and then release it" you eye roll to the battle that you have against at every fandom you've been in

"And movies?" Max brings herself closer to you as she listens carefully

"They're more into CGI and not appreciating good acting unlike the movies before"

"CGI?" Gareth repeats your words in confusion as you saw all of their faces mirrored the exact same thing with him

You clear your throat when you realized you're getting way too ahead of yourself, "If you watch Star Wars, Alien, The Exorcist and Jaws, all of them have movie magic right? well, guess what, In my time? it's much more high-tech and more realistic than we have today but some of them are taking the advantage of using it frequently rather than using it lightly"

You get the response a lot of "ahhh's" and you just chuckled to yourself, it's like you're having a business meeting

"Don't get me wrong, I like seeing special effects in movies, I mean, they're cool but pouring them all too much in a film is tiring and again missing the point of what's the story is all about" you shrug as you rest your back in the couch and leaned down

"What about the society?" Eddie asks as he comes forward, all eyes are on him as everyone waits for him to elaborate

"Like social issues?"

He nods, "Yeah, tell us about that"

You breathe through your nose, "That's kind of a big question but okay, I'll try my best to answer"

After another segment of genuine reactions to everyone, you're not going to lie, you are fond witnessing it, if you live in the past, you would ask the same

Who doesn't want or wish the future to become more better than before?

"I'm not saying that my year is better but I'm glad everything is lessen and much more free than before" you say as they all nod in understanding on what you mean by that

"There is still hatred that is happening but a lot more people are not afraid anymore to speak up and stand up for what is right" you add as you saw Robin twiddling with her thumbs as you already felt what she wanted to ask

"Everyone is welcome, no matter if you like girls or boys" you say as you look at Robin's eyes and her blue doe eyes staring at your soul as she start panicking at her stance as she excuses herself for a minute but a smile lingered on her face as you pursed your lips to bite off your smile

"All body types are accepted too" you say this as you don't tear your eyes away from Chrissy who's eyes became glassy from your words as she smiles in gratitude

You know her struggles as a cheerleader and you know that she's the golden child of the family and the pressure that she's been holding it in, it's the main reason why she is targeted by Vecna

"I think Nancy is going to love this one" you smirk at the thought of it

"Oh?" Nancy tug up a smile on her lips with a arched eyebrow

"Toxic and fragile masculinity are shut down with a lot of good feminists in my time, a lot of women speaking up in music and even on films too"

"Wow, that's amazing!" She says with a excited smile on her face as she starts became giddy at you

"Discrimination is a big no-no in my time too, a lot of great people died for it and a lot of us didn't let it end there, we still keep fighting for it"

"That's so awesome, Y/N" Jeff says as you saw the disbelief on his face

"What I only don't like about it, people are too sensitive sometimes that it's over exaggerated and twisting every word, I'm happy that a lot of people are aware, but you know, you can't just control the world sometimes too" you sigh as you get up from your seat as you pour yourself another glass of lemonade

"Damn, I just hope people in the future aren't making fun of us anymore" Gareth scratches the back of his neck and Eddie shushes him

"Oh, if only you knew" your mind flashes to every scenario back in Hawkins High and you winced that some of them are still dragging their religion to their kids to stay off to rock music which is so ridiculous

"I know all of you have so many struggles especially when it comes to certain emotions because I do too share the same angst, so, I'm telling this just to let you all know that you're not alone" you take in a deep breath before you speak again

"My family is uh- religious and I know the saying that "you should pray more and that depression will go away", well, it's not that easy, am I right? It takes so much time to recover and yeah, thankfully some of that situation is not getting tackled anymore in my time but some elders don't agree on it since they keep saying that we feel is not real but you know what it is, others are stubborn to understand, you're lucky if your parent is willingly enough to try to put their pride for once and help their child" you say as you swallow the liquid in your mouth harshly as you blink the angry tears that is forming in your waterline

Eddie can see that you're trying not to break in front of them and he feels bad and also pissed off? that's new to him, he doesn't even know your folks personally but can't help but feel sorry for you

you sniffle and let out a nervous chuckle, "Oops, my bad, if I went too serious-"

"It's alright" Fred smiles sympathetically at you and give back the same gesture to him

"Y/N" Dustin pops his head in the corner of the room saying something about the news in the television

"What is it?"

"Just- all of you come with me!"

"This better be good" Steve sighs tiredly as he leans his side in the wall

"BREAKING NEWS : A satanic cult, The Hellfire Club, a ritual as they say from the people of Hawkins that the members are performing a human sacrifice as many concerned citizens about their children being targeted by the leader named Eddie Munson, it's the prime suspect...."

The voice from the reporter drowned out from your hearing as it became all blurry and your vision starts to unclear to you as you feel like something else has sucked into your soul, a punch to your gut, a slap into your face and you thought you're getting good at this

Well, you thought wrong, when you think you can change the past

All of the voices from your new found friends are also overlapping as your mind wanders to something that you simply wanted to avoid

The tragic ending for him

Him, the person that you defended all your life even like your life depends on it

You care about him so much that it destroys you and you don't want to take over the toll of your mentality again

You drop your glass onto the floor making a breaking sound causing everyone to stop talking to each other as they all looked at you

You gasped as you looked at Steve with a pounding heart, "Steve- I'm s-sorry" you stuttered

"It's okay, Y/N" he says as he finds his broom to sweep the broken pieces of glass on the floor, he moves you aside to keep you away from the dangerous shards on the ground

Eddie saw your state like you're in the verge of tears as he walks closer to you and held your forearm

"Y/N?" He says softly, it is laced with so much empathy, you really don't know what you truly feel about him

Is it admiration? or is it love? Or maybe you are driven to fight for him because you know they didn't give him justice for what he deserves in the first place?

You can't just love somebody from the past who clearly doesn't have any idea who you are until now

"Y/N? talk to me, I'm right here" he says carefully as he patiently waits for your answer

"I-I have to go" you move and step away from him as he calls out your name as he follows you

Unbeknownst to the both of you, someone else catches the slightest obvious intimacy at the exchange between the two of you

Lucas was fighting for his breath as he cycling his way out of them, he's panting as his chest hurts as it lacks for air to ease out but he can't stop now or else he is going to end up with a blow to his face

He doesn't know where he's friends are, he must find the nearest payphone, he needs to contact them as soon as possible

He just can't believe that Jason will do such a thing, he is now regretting leaving his friends behind, he is ready to explain everything to them

He doesn't even care at this point if they don't understand him but at least he has got to say his piece

He knows that Eddie and Jason are two different people with different interest and social cliques

Eddie can be a lot of things but Jason? spreading lies without proof is clearly inhumane thing to do and it's insane

It's every fiber of his being the urge to stop him but what can he do? when he might end up in a freaking ditch? so, the only option is to lie to them

"H-Hello?" He says with a strained voice as he tries to clears his throat, he looks at the side to see if Jason's car is approaching he is bopping his knee up and down in nervousness

"Sinclair? Dude, you sound awful-" Steve answers and picks up the phone and Lucas can already the worried look on his face as he can sense the concern at the tone of his voice

"is Dustin with you? Give the phone to Dustin, I need to talk to him" he pants and wipes the build up perspiration on his forehead

"Oh, he's right here-" Lucas heard the rustling cord over the receiver and hears his friend's voice muttering the words to Steve "Is that Lucas? Hand me that phone-" "Hey watch it, Henderson"

"Hey, are you going to tell us your spectacular bonding with your varsity friends?"

He huffs, "I'm not going to argue with you, Dustin-"

"Where were you? Have you seen the news-"

"God! Just listen to me!" He exclaims in frustration as Dustin can hear the way Lucas slam his hand at a surface

There's a beat of silence as Dustin squeezes his eyes shut as he begrudgingly, "Fine" he says through gritted teeth

"It's about Jason and I think Eddie's life is in danger"

"Say no more, you have a lot of catch up to do, where are you?"

“I just don’t know why you got Hot Ones. They could have had the whole band on there making idiots of themselves,” Eddie pouted.

He’d been pouting for two days now.

In fact, his entire band was from the moment Steve called him on tour to let him know that he would be doing the Hot Ones interview next week.

“I told you, they had a last minute cancellation and my schedule just worked. Maybe you’ll get next season,” Steve said over the phone as the oven timer went off to let him know his brownies were done cooking.

“Whatcha makin’ Stevie?” Eddie’s curiosity was adorable.

He was in London, just got off stage from their last show in Europe. Steve was in their home in LA, having the last lazy day in before his awards season started.

“If I tell you, you’ll be sad you’re missing it.”

“Tell us! Tell us!” Gareth said from much closer than Steve would have expected.

“Hi Gare Bear. No personal space tonight?”

Eddie laughed as Steve pulled the brownies out of the oven and shut it off.

“He said personal space is for people who don’t like each other and he likes me very much,” Steve could hear Eddie’s eye roll in his voice. “A shame because I can’t stand him.”

“Play nice boys. You’ll be home in less than 24 hours,” Steve reminded them.

Gareth lived a mile up the road from them with his boyfriend and their excessive amount of cats.

Excessive being four.

Steve was allergic, so any amount of cats seemed excessive to him.

But Steve and Gareth were close, had been since even before Eddie and Steve started dating.

He was Steve’s best man in their wedding, much to Dustin’s bafflement. He only didn’t argue because Eddie softened the blow by asking him to be his own best man.

Usually if baked goods or a home cooked meal were involved, Gareth would show up at their door ready to partake.

“You’ll be home when I get there?”

“Yep. Cleared my whole day just for you, baby.”

“Good. Miss you.

“Miss you too. You heading to bed?” Steve poked at the brownies, making sure they were cooked.

“Yeah, I’m beat.” Eddie yawned to emphasize how exhausted he was. “Did your manager tell them you love spicy foods or are you just gonna let them assume you’re a wimp?”

“Nah. It’ll be fun.”

When he arrives on the set of Hot Ones, Sean greets him with a smile and a handshake.

Eddie wasn’t able to come with him, but Robin had promised to record the whole thing just for them.

She watched from the side next to his manager, Nancy, and his bodyguard, Hopper.

They settled at the table, got mic’d up, makeup touched up, and Sean reminded him that if he absolutely had to tap out, they could stop recording and edit everything accordingly to make it look like he made it through the challenge.

Steve wasn’t worried.

The first three wings didn’t even have a kick. It was just a casual conversation between friends.

He talked about his work with a theater group for kids in New York City, as well as his work on an indie film that was coming out in the fall.

The fourth and fifth wings had a pinch of spice to them, but nothing to make even bat an eye.

Sean continued asking questions, Steve continued answering them.

On the seventh wing, Steve was barely distracted from the question: “What project of yours are you most looking forward to doing next?”

“I think I’ll be most excited to take some time off with my husband, working on starting the family we’ve wanted for a while. He’s been on tour for most of the last year, and we agreed it was a good time to figure out what we wanna do,” Steve said as he took another bite.

He could feel the burn of this one at least, felt the sting on his lips and tongue.

But it was very manageable, and the jalapeno flavor was almost refreshing. It tasted fresh.

“Okay, I have to ask: did you practice these beforehand?”

Steve snorted.

“No. I’m just not very sensitive to spicy foods. I usually keep a lot of hot sauces in my house. Poor Eddie’s learned how to tolerate spice because of it,” Steve said as they brought out the eighth wing.

“I’ve never had anyone so calm at this point. I’m starting to think even the hottest one won’t really bother you!”

“I guess we’ll see!”

The ninth wing was hot. He wouldn’t try to deny it.

“It does have a lovely watermelon flavor to it, very fruity and tangy on top of the spice. I like it,” Steve smiled.

He knew his face was getting a bit red from this one, and he reached for the water, but only had to take a couple of small sips before he was ready to keep going.

“Alright, for this one, we’ll ask a question for you to answer before and then we’ll have one for right after. You ready?”

“Bring it on!”

And it definitely did.

It was hot, and he could feel tears in his eyes, and sweat breaking out across his forehead.

“Finally, we have a reaction!” Sean exclaimed.

“This one’s definitely a lot more than the others,” Steve added, reaching for the milk.

He could tell Robin and Nancy were laughing, probably very much enjoying any amount of pain he managed to have when he went into this so sure that none of them would get to him.

“Final question: Would you ever consider retiring to follow Eddie on tour with your future family?”

Steve nodded once, taking another sip of the milk.

God, this one was hot.

“Uh, yep. I mean, retiring is a strong word. I would definitely take a long break. I’ve always wanted a family,” he stopped to take another sip and a bite of the celery. “I’ve wanted to be a dad for as long as I can remember. And I know Eddie wants that, but he also doesn’t wanna stop making music, and the rest of his band isn’t ready to take a break like that. I know it would be easy for me, so my plan would be to take at least a few years off.”

“Doing alright over there?”

Steve laughed, fanning his face.

“I’m okay. That just went from a kick to a beatdown pretty quick.”

“Well, you’re a pro at making it look easy. You deserve an Oscar for this performance!”

It was a ridiculous sentiment, but funny, and Steve was up for an Oscar this year.

He finished the glass of milk and shook Sean’s hand, thanking him for having him.

“Eddie is already in tears watching Sean watch you in disbelief,” Robin started as soon as he joined them again.

“What was all that at the end?” Nancy asked, arms crossed, face furious.

He usually had free reign in interviews, but he knew Nancy would tell him not to mention anything even slightly related to retirement.

His career had really only just taken off a couple years earlier, and talking about a break or retiring now would immediately cut his chances of good roles in half.

“Just the truth, Nance. You know Eddie and I wanna start a family,” he said as they started walking through the backstage area to leave.

“I just didn’t know that meant taking a break. I thought you’d just take turns with stuff or hire a nanny.”

Steve knew that worked for a lot of couples, but they both were too family-focused for that. They didn’t want a nanny raising their kids.

“Why are you freaking out?”

“I’m not! I just would’ve liked a heads up.”

Robin stared between them, eyes bouncing back and forth like it was a tennis match.

“I don’t have to tell you every single detail of my life. You know all that’s relevant right now.”

Nancy sighed, but nodded, turning away and typing furiously on her phone.

His phone rang seconds later.

“Sweetheart, let me just say: it is so sexy how you handle those hot sauces,” Eddie’s teasing voice was enough to get him back into a happy mood.

“Your standards for sexy are so low,” Steve said as he walked to the corner to get as much privacy as possible.

“No, it’s just that everything you do is sexy.”

“You’re ridiculous.”

“But I’m yours.”

“And I’m yours.”

“Steve!” Sean’s voice came from behind him, large smile lighting up his face. “Sorry to bother you, but would Eddie and the guys like to come on the show as our bonus episode this season?”

Eddie was screaming yes through the phone, much to their amusement.

“So…yes?” Sean asked.

“Yes!” Eddie yelled.

Sean walked away to update the producer while Steve kept talking to Eddie.

“See? Now you’ll get your show, too.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

For Black disability political work today, there is clear value in disability identity for being “able to find our people” and “have some type of common language,” as Dustin Gibson puts it. At the same time, Gibson and others insist that claiming disability identity is not the most important thing in Back disability politics for two reasons: first, the way disability has typically been used and defined does not align with the experiences and need of Black people; and, second, the goal is ultimately to provide bodymind liberation, safety, and care for everyone regardless of identity.

Yes these sims are technically related. Kelly Watson (wife of Dustin) is the daughter of Nigel Watson (a descendant of the 1940s heir Douglas Brown and his wife Joan through their son Lewis).

Lacey Watson (wife of Nori) is the granddaughter of the same sim Nigel, but through one of his other children (one of Kelly's siblings).

“You almost ready, Steve?”

You’re sitting in the back room of Scoops Ahoy, waiting on your friend Steve. He’s in the bathroom changing out of his work uniform into some normal clothes. 

“In a minute!” you hear Steve yell from the other side of the door.

You and Steve have big plans tonight. One of the projectionists at the mall's movie theater told you that they were having a secret late night preview of the new movie Back to the Future. It’s not set to open for a couple of weeks and you’ve been dying to see it. As soon as you heard about the preview screening you asked Steve if he wanted to come along. You wish your little brother Dustin wasn’t away at sleepaway camp because you know that he wanted to see the movie too.

“Ok I’m ready! I’m ready!” Steve announces as he opens the bathroom door.

You jump to your feet. 

“C’mon, let’s go!”

You and Steve leave out the backdoor. Working at the mall has some perks. You both know all the secret passageways and found out a way to sneak into the movie theater. You aren’t the only people who take advantage of this. Dustin’s friends bug you or Steve at least once a week about sneaking them into the movies.

“Relax Y/N! We’re not going to miss it,” Steve reassures you, and then, “I’m sure that projectionist guy will hold off on starting the movie until you arrive. What’s his name again?”

You roll your eyes.

“His name is Danny and he wouldn’t do that,” you answer.

“Yeah he would! That dude totally has a crush on you,” Steve tells you.

“No he doesn’t!” you deny it.

“Trust me, he does,” Steve insists. There’s a hint of jealousy in his voice.

You shake your head in disbelief.

Steve opens the door that leads into one of the side hallways at the cinema. He lets you out first and then follows closely behind. You lead Steve to the theater. Even though this was supposed to be a secret sneak preview, the theater is pretty crowded.

You and Steve find two seats together just as the trailers start. Steve knows he has a few minutes to spare before the movie begins and he’s going to take advantage of that time.

“I’m gonna get a coke,” he tells you as he rises to his feet.

He walks away before you have a chance to respond. As you watch him leave the theater you shrug to yourself. Oh shit! I should’ve asked him to get me one too… 

Steve steps out into the lobby and approaches the concession stand. He recognizes the girl behind the counter. They went to Hawkins High together.

“Hey Steve,” she smiles. 

“Hey Jennifer. Can I get 2 cokes?” Steve nods.

Jennifer raises her eyebrows. 

“Who’s the lucky girl tonight?” she questions Steve.

“Oh, uh, no date tonight. Just here with a friend,” Steve replies.

“Sure,” the cashier rolls her eyes, unconvinced.

A few minutes later, Steve returns to your theater with the drinks. 

“Hey. What’d I miss?” Steve asks as he sits down beside you.

“A lot! There’s another movie coming out soon with Michael J Fox. He’s gonna be a werewolf that plays basketball,” you tell him.

Steve scrunches his forehead.

“Wait… What?” 

“Yeah! It’s called Teen Wolf,” you laugh, “Don’t judge me but I kinda want to see it….”

Steve chuckles and hands you one of the cokes. Your eyes widen. You didn’t even get the chance to ask for a drink but Steve got you one anyway. You’re touched by the gesture.

“Thank you,” you say sincerely.

“Of course,” Steve smiles.

The lights start to dimmer and the “Our Feature Presentation” graphic appears on screen. It’s showtime.

You and Steve watch the movie in awe. Back to the Future isn’t like anything you’ve ever seen before. You know that you’re watching something special. The movie isn’t out for another few weeks but you just know it’s going to be a huge hit.

While watching the scene where Lorraine makes a move on Marty, you close your eyes. It’s just too cringey. You impulsively flinch, accidentally taking Steve’s hand. You’re about to pull your hand away but Steve, still focused on the screen, instinctively intertwines his fingers with yours. 

You let out a deep breath. You don’t know how to explain it but holding Steve’s hand just feels right. You feel safe and at ease.

You and Steve quietly hold hands for the rest of the movie. You don’t let go until the end of the movie when the entire theater erupts into cheers. Everyone is clapping, including you and Steve. You loved it.

The two of you are hyped as you walk out of the theater. 

“That was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen! I think it's now in my top three!” you exclaim.

“Yeah! It was so good I can almost forgive the fact that the girl was trying to bang her son,” Steve jokes.

“You should go as Marty McFly for Halloween this year. I think you could totally pull off that costume,” you suggest.

“Oh yeah?” Steve smirks.

“Yeah definitely. Just don’t include those suspenders. Not many people are able to pull off that look like Michael J Fox,” you advise.

“Mhmm,” Steve nods, taking in what you just said.

“But on the flipside, I don’t think Michael J Fox could pull off your Scoops Ahoy uniform. You are the only guy I’ve seen that actually looks good in it,” you tell him.

Steve’s face perks up.

“You think I look good?!”  

You shyly smile.

“Yeah… but you look good in like everything,” you quietly reply.

Steve smiles. His heart melts a little bit. Since hitting puberty people have been telling Steve that he’s good looking. But it means more coming from you.
