Roblox avatars are chubby, filled with gel-like substance. They have no gender, no organs, they both hear and communicate waves. Highly modifiable, their "skin" is not that hard to pierce.

Their cores are dissolved in the gel, its is really hard to kill an avatar. Eyes are black, dumb and small, mouths are simple, lacking teeth or tongues.

phi.avatars (phi.demons) are a different case. Their bodies are the same - filled with transparent gel, but the fun thing begins at cores. See, phi.demons have distinct solid cores. Magic cores, if you insist. Phi.demons need food, water and minerals to function, yet they are rather durable. "Skin" Casing of phi.demons is tough and remind resin a lot. Phi.demons share a body and organ structure with my Animated stickmen hc and, accordingly, one of a monocellular organism.

Food and water are dissolved in organs, nutrients go into the gel fluid, minerals are shared by the core and the gel. Core is a rather finnicky organ - it consumes matter and post-dissolving waste into magic and crystals, which form the horns of a phi.demon. For quite a while they just grow, emitting almost no glow whatsoever, but when the antlers are completely form they stop changing is size and start gaining light. Like a cacti store water, horns store magic.

After the horns stop in growth, the crystal waste forms a protecting shell underneath the skin. Magic is just stored in their gel.

The horn storage is a backup of some kind, drawing phi.demons able to survive near-death experiences, save consciousness in dire situations and get that one last spark of magic to save themselves in danger. Horns loose their glow after that and become really fragile, reminding gemstones.

Blake was silent in thought for a moment. "The question isn't who's strongest, or skilled, though. Pyrrha is their best fighter, but Nora is the physically strongest, but remember, the element of surprise and intelligence are just as deciding a factor in a fight. Ren's not as good a fighter, or as strong, but his mobility and aura control mixed with his ruthlessness, I think make him more dangerous."

"Elaborate." Weiss stated.

"Well, Nora is strong and energetic, but she's always going to come at you head on, so it's easy to counter her, if you don't fight her on her terms. Pyrrha better about that, but she's very civil, so she's not going to fight you outside of arena, unless you start it. Ren though? I can see him slitting someone's throat."

The rest of the table stared at her blankly.

"Nah, it's Jaune." Ruby said after a beat, drinking some milk.

"What?" Weiss said flatly. "You must be kidding. He's by far the least skilled, weakest, and most disgra-"

"Ok that's enough, princess." Yang cut her off. "But, she's got a point, Ruby."

Ruby shrugged. "Yeah, that's true, but-" She took a drink of milk. "What's Jaune's fighting style?"

Weiss huffed. "Simple, it's nothing, he doesn't have one."

"Yeah, it's kind of random style."

Blake thought for a moment, seeing a flash of triumph in Ruby's eyes. "Oh, that's your point."

Ruby gave finger guns at the cat-girl. "Exactly! You asked who's the most dangerous! It's Jaune, because, how you going to fight someone who doesn't know what he's going to do next?"

"What?" Yang and Weiss asked simultaneously.

Blake nodded along. "She's got a point, how are you going to react to someone who doesn't know what even he's going to do next?"

"Plus, have you ever been hit by him?" Ruby added, with no one stepping up to the plate. "His skill and style might not be great, but his strength is incredible, and his durability, endurance, and staying power are unmatched if you ask me."

"She's right, you know." A new voice interjected, all of team RWBY turning to face the sudden newcomer.

"Ren? Since when did you get here?" Yang asked.

"Since the beginning," He said simply, sipping from a juice box. "But, it's definitely, Jaune." His eyes became distant and foggy. "Always has been."

"Uh, you ok, buddy?" Yang putting a hand on his shoulder.

Ren went back to normal. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"

"Well, the look of trauma on your face, just kind of,-"

"Don't ever get locked in a food-pantry with Jaune, there's no telling what he'll do, because even he doesn't know."

"How did that even occur?" Weiss asked. "Why were you two even-"

"Nora."

"Oh."

"Well, it's not like we ever have to worry about that."

"Jaune Arc, you're under arrest for suspicion of forgery to enter Beacon !" Harriet Bree stormed over to the blonde as he was stocking a shelf inside one of Beacons's storage closets. With a sound of confusion and a hand of tomato soup, he turned and let go, screaming.

Harriet, moving at full speed, had no chance to stop, as she knocked away the can of soup, only for another to fall at her feet, as Jaune dropped armfuls of soup to the ground. Harriet, going at full momentum, crushed the metal can underfoot, spraying it all over herself.

"Ah! Gross!" She wailed, still charging forward, only to step on another can and slip, flying up into the air and knock Jaune over. Jaune groaned as she knocked into him, recovering quick she mounted his chest, ready to knock him out.

Jaune reaching wildly, grabbed a shaker of pepper, slamming it into her face. Harriet felt her eyes water and nose sting, as she recoiled back, letting Jaune push her off of him, running for the door, Harriet behind him.

Flailing wildly, Jaune grabbed a broom, swinging it wildly around with knocking rows of preserved goods off the shelves and onto the floor, Harriet taking a wrong step trying to dodge the flailing, stepping into a puddle of oil from a broken bottle, sliding forward, right into Jaune's wild strikes.

Harriet felt her head ring and vision swim, then another swing connected, knocking her back and into a row of shelves. She went straight through it, and the shelves falling straight onto her with a groan, the sound of clanging metal and falling supplies consuming the room, as Jaune fled out the door, turning off the lights and locking the door behind him.

  Smiling to yourself, you nudged your knee to his twice. Though as you retracted, his knee met yours again and remained there.   This should be interesting.   Did you move? Absolutely not. At least, not from the waist down. Using and focusing as much as you could on your peripheral vision, you studied him. Sure, you almost bit your own tongue in an attempt to multitask, but at least no one noticed. The only movement that came from Warren was a simple turn of a page.   All of this over analyzing was bound to give you some sort of headache at this rate. Or, as fate would have it, you started to cough from possibly the smallest particle of food. Every set of eyes at the table were on you, immediately concerned. Before your hand could reach over your tray, Layla had opened up your water bottle for you. With a brief forced smile, you grabbed it. Within a few moments of drinking water, you were well again.

  “Well, that was thrilling,” you frowned.   “Are you okay?” Layla asked.   “Yeah.”   “That would’ve been one way to go,” Zach said, drinking his own soda.   “Dude,” Warren glared as Will and Ethan likewise chided Zach.   You rolled your eyes as they continued to bicker. “I think I’ll see myself out,” you smiled to Magenta and Layla.   With a short farewell, you picked up your tray and left the table. By the time you were out of the cafeteria and in the hallway, you felt a greater sense of relief. Maybe the collective sounds of students had become too overwhelming for you.   Making your way to your locker, the quiet halls held a strange sense of calm. You figured it was the strong contrast from its usual capacity of students.

  “Then this way,” you mumbled to yourself, completely focused on unlocking your locker. “Ah ha,” you smiled triumphantly. If you were going to be using up time before your next class, you might as well use it wisely. Exchanging one textbook for another, you missed the approaching footsteps as you zipped your backpack close.   “Hey,” the clear voice of Warren reached your ears.   A little started, you accidentally knocked your knuckles against the open locker door. Silently, you screamed into the void of metal storage. The door swung open to its full extent just as you shut both your mouth and eyes in a grimace.   “Are you okay?” He asked, sounding much closer and very concerned.   “Great,” you squeaked. “Super durability and all.” Your eyes flashed open however, as something warm gently grasped your hand. Warren. The rate at which you were looking between his hands on yours and his eyes was bound to make you dizzy at some point.   His thumb caressed over your knuckles. It was almost too warm. “It doesn’t look too bad,” he smiled at you. “Maybe don’t go around punching lockers as a hobby though.”   “I’ll try to fight the urge,” you replied without much thought.   He laughed and carefully released your hand.

  It was quiet for a moment before either of you spoke a single word.   “Warren?” You asked softer than you intended.   Matching your tone, he inclined closer to you. “Yeah?”   Hesitation overtook you. “Do you…uh,” you sighed to yourself. Did you wanna head outside for a bit? Yah know, before class?“   “Sure. Lead the way.”   As you closed up your locker, you wondered if he noticed your change in demeanor. Heck, he seemed to notice, or at least accurately interpret everything. Slinging your bag over your shoulder, your own thoughts made you nervous. What if Warren already knew that you liked him? That you were interested in him as more than a friend? If he did, he was either ignoring or—   Warren grabbed your hand in his just as you turned away from the lockers. You looked at him incredulously.   “If third time’s the charm, let’s not add to your list.”   “List?”   “Choking on your lunch in the cafeteria, hitting your locker…,” he leaned in teasingly.   You pursed your lips at him. “Maybe we should add knee-knocking to that list.”   His brows rose. “Maybe we should. That’ll make three already.”   “So I guess that means I’m in the clear,” you added, starting to walk, Warren falling in line with you.   “I guess so.”

  The two of you continued walking hand in hand. Even as you made your way out of the building, neither of you loosened your hold. Sure, friends could hold hands, absolutely, but this felt entirely different. And as you both stepped down toward his favorite spot, your heart began to race. You had to ask him, or say something! So, when he dropped his bag down on the half-wall, you took a confident stance, if only to keep yourself steady.   “Warren, can I tell you something without freaking out?”   He turned to you with genuine soft curiosity.   You sputtered. “Without you freaking out,” you clarified.   “Yeah,” he said, tightening his hold on your hand in the slightest.   “I like you,” you said a little too fast, “is that weird?” No sooner the question left your mouth, you regretted it. But before you cold cringe into yourself and fold over like a beach-chair, he spoke.   “No. It’s not weird,” he swung your hands for a short moment and you swore you short circuited.   “Not weird?”   Warren took a step toward you, the tips of your shoes touching. “Not weird.”   “Oh, okay,” you finally took a breath.   “Would it be weird if I liked you too?” He asked, causing your eyebrows to shoot up to your hairline.   “What? No. No. Not weird.”   “Good,” he smiled brightly, “because I really like you too.”   “You do?”   “Yeah.” He looked down bashfully for a moment. “I guess I was being too subtle, but… I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable or anything.”   You gazed at him. “That’s really thoughtful,” you complimented.   “Heh, thanks.”   “And I said that out loud,” you shut your eyes. “What is going on with me today?”   “Let’s just blame it on the school today,” he suggested, his voice close enough to feel on your skin.   You opened your eyes in time to see his chin. His chin? A pair of lips softly pressed against your forehead.   When Warren leaned away, he smiled at your expression.   “Well, I can’t possibly focus in any class for the rest of the day.”   “Not a single one?”   “Not when I know that you’re interested now.”   Warren chuckled.

Let's talk about flying to pick up a puppy by yourself

And some ways to make it easier on you.

Your prep starts honestly, about a week before baby actually comes home. Maybe 2 weeks.

For my pre-flight prep, I first picked out a flight carrier. I went with the one my breeder recommended.

It has expandable sides, and a little storage pocket. And it's resistant to chewing. I'm really glad I didn't buy a cheaper one, and I can't stress enough that it's cheaper to buy a quality one the first time than have a zipper break or a tear in the middle of your trip. My trip in total was 4 flights and 4 hours in the car, with him being with me for half of it and having the longest layover of my day. I could only really let him out a couple times, so this next part was incredibly helpful.

I mailed the carrier to my breeder,

at her behest. This was *huge* because the siblings got their scent on it and he was acclimated to being in it before I got to him. It acted as a secure place for him to ride in the car and for his first few nights here, he slept in there through the night.

And now that he's in his crate, the removable pad with scents on it has been instrumental in establishing the crate as a safe place for him.

Wear clothes you don't need to fuss with *at all* that's normal airport protocol- but I can't stress this enough, you're carrying the puppy in your arms through the TSA checkpoint and other people will be fussing over him. Make sure your appearance and personal bag is no fuss.

In my personal travel bag I kept:

Pee pads, his food from the breeder, a change of clothes in case of incidents, a portable battery to charge my phone, collapsible food and water bowls, collar and leash incase one wasn't provided, and SEVERAL toys in there.

The toys were great for waiting in the terminal. I'd expand the sides of the crate and introduce a new toy to him to help him run a bit of energy out before we had to board.

Peepads: Even though airports have animal relief areas, chances are they're either kind of gross or your dog may be a little too young for it to be safe. I was traveling through one of the busiest airports in the world, and nobody was checking jack shit so I opted for potty breaks to occur in bathrooms with pee pads. He didn't end up going but it's better to be prepared.

I flew Delta and used Skymiles accumulated from our credit card with them that we pay off monthly, so the only thing I paid for out of pocket was 95.00 to bring Argos on board. My flight only costed 20k miles total, and that was only a small portion of what we'd accumulated over the 6 months we've been using the card. I think it's worth considering if you're planning to fly to a breeder. It enabled me to go anywhere in the country that Delta flies and not worry about costs.

Day of hack: double check your flights on the airlines app and switch your seat if possible. I swapped one of my return flight seats to an empty row for 15.00, which meant I could have my carryon and him with me at the same time and that was very nice for readjusting where my stuff was and taking a damn nap. Because at this point, I'd been up for about 18 hours and still had 7 hours of traveling before I'd get home.

I think my last thing is that if you're like me and you do have an invisible disability- ask if you can preboard. Dont be afraid to say "hey, i have this problem and standing in the heat while carrying a bunch of stuff is potentially going to cause an episode. " The employees were extremely nice, and willing to work with me. Ultimately, I went through all of this because he's a service dog prospect and will hopefully help.

Small things for me specifically prior: ate in the morning and right before I picked him up, he was able to chill in his carrier while I ate dinner at a restaurant in the airport- didn't make any sounds. He slept the whole time. I don't think I couldve eaten in the food court, too much to carry between him and my main bag.

A baggie with your medicines is IMPORTANT. Do not forget some dramamine, advil, Tylenol, whatever, pack it if there's a small chance you'll need it!

Hey everybody! Since I've recently crawled out of my cave of not doing minis stuff for too long, I've realized that a few skills have gotten rusty. Even some of the basic stuff has fallen out of my head at some point. To make the best of a slightly poo situation I've decided to get some of my journey to rediscovery logged online to share with people who may be new to the hobby or just looking for a new perspective on an established process. That's enough rambling for now. Behold! My first FSteaktorial: Basing with Coffee!

Paying for hobby sand can feel kinda silly, but sometimes that super fine gravel can look a bit off. This is extra true if you're working with smaller scale minis like Battletech. One common solution is used coffee grounds. Right of the gate, how coarse or fine the grind is will change the look. Fine grinds will look more like sand or dirt while coarse grinds will look rockier. I'm particular to a fine grind for most applications and I'd suggest it as a good starting point to work from.

Preparing the ground(s):

Prepare and pour your coffee as normal. Once you're done simply dump your coffee grounds into a hard container or surface in as thin of a layer as possible. Usually large food containers or a baking sheet will do. Let it dry for a day or two before putting it in a container for storage or application. I'm partial to empty spice shakers for most fine basing/flocking materials. You can put the coffee grounds away once they're dried without extra treatment. The process of making coffee will pull most of the oils out and the hot water will clean it up for you.

Preparing your adhesive:

Gluing the ground down is super easy. Grab an old brush that's flat and appropriately scaled to your intended model and base. The glue itself is just a watered down PVA. PVA is just your generic craft glue. You've most likely used it as a kid during whatever arts and crafts you've done. You'll want to add a drop or two of water at a time and mix thoroughly until it's a bit thinner than most minis paints out of the bottle.

Applying your adhesive:

Simply take your brush, scoop on some of the thinned glue, and apply it to the base. One thing to note is that glue isn't paint. For our purposes, you'll want a healthy layer. Don't worry, after a day it will dry solid. You don't need to apply perfectly either. The glue will take some time to dry and can be wiped off easily to clean up the edges of the base and model. Be sure to immediately rinse your brush thoroughly in water unless you want one giant bristle.

Applying the coffee/basing:

This is the satisfying part. Grab your shaker, handful of coffee, or application method of choice and give the base a nice healthy layer. Once you can't see the glue, tap off the excess and set it aside to reclaim or put it back in your applicator for use. Don't wipe off the excess just yet. Make sure the model is over a different surface and wipe the excess glue/coffee and wipe your cleaning tool (probably your finger) on a paper towel. This is important to avoid getting glue in your supply of basing material.

Letting the glue dry:

No, really. Let it REALLY dry. It's tempting to want to start putting paint to model, but the glue needs to be completely dry. You don't want to risk both brushing your fresh basing off the model and getting coffee lodged in your bristles.

You're done with basing for now! Remember to blow off the excess coffee dust. You can add extra detail with rocks and bits, prime, whatever you want at this point. Even with just a quick prime, single base color, and a quick dry brush you'll get great results. Congratulations on your new awesome looking base, saved money, and even a teeny tiny effort of reclaiming waste! It's surprisingly durable as well due to the glue hardening.

i think one of the biggest steps we, as a society, will be able to take towards sustainability (of, like... everything) is to eliminate the concept of manufactured obsolescence. For big stuff like houses and buildings, but also smaller stuff, especially electronics of all kinds.

And this got a bit long, but the TL;DR (too long; didn't read) is: capitalism is evil and gonna destroy the entire planet unless we abolish it as soon as possible.

There's no real reason why any kind of computer/tablet/phone/etc. can't last more than like 3 years max. It should be highly illegal for companies to push updates onto our electronics that purposely slow them down, or to stop support of "old" operating systems that aren't even 5 years old yet, in favor of getting a new phone with a new operating system for no reason other than to sell people a new phone.

Same goes for storage, kinda. I have an SD card that's about as big as a SIM card and can store 250GB of data. There's no reason why my phones internal storage is only 25GB, except to push "cloud storage" onto people for companies to secretely mine that data to push more advertising onto us. And why is it always ads, anyway? Like, at least offer me a service, but they're not doing that.

And not just phones, but literally everything. There's no reason why a fridge or an oven or an automatic feeder or ANY kind of smart device should need a wifi connection to just do the one thing it's supposed to do. None. These things worked just fine in the part when we didn't have any internet of things type bullshit, there's no reason to make these things worse except to squeeze more money out of people. (I am aware that "smart things" can be incredibly helpful for disabled people to live an independent life. However, in those cases as well, there's no reason why "no internet" should be a fatal point of failure, and there's no reason why something like a thermostat needs to have an internet connection to recieve voice commands. I mean it needs to know like... 3 or 4 words: an activating phrase, "higher", "lower", and numbers. It cannot be complicated enough to require regular updates via internet.)

Just take clothes.

So many clothes are made out of "polyesther" or "polyacryl" or something else with the word "poly-" at the start, which usually just means "plastic". And I'm sure there are some uses for plastic clothes like if someone has complicated allergies to a bunch of natural fibers, but there's no reason to have more than 80% of all clothes available on the market be either pure plastic or half plastic. 1) it's absolutely atrocious for the environment, because these clothes leech microplastics into waters like no tomorrow while only lasting like 5 years at best 2) they're just terrible quality-wise. I used to wear a plastic jacket in winter, and i would either sweat to death with it closed without even exhausting myself, or freeze like hell with it open. Neither of which are ideal. Then i got a cotton sweater to wear in winter and i didn't sweat, but i wasn't cold either. I was comfortably warm without getting sweaty, because the sweater let my skin breathe. Plastic can't do that. 3) Vegans can yell about this one all they want, but "vegan leather" is also just plastic. there's no such thing as "vegan leather", but ACTUAL leather may harm an animal (though with as much beef that's sold all over the world, there's no way there's a shortage of cow leather), but it's only gonna "harm" ONE animal. Not every single animal on earth due to byproducts of the manufacturing process and the fact that it never fucking goes away. And real leather is so durable. Like, sure, you kill one animal and get its skin for leather (but also its meat for food and everything else, i don't even know how much), if you care for the thing you made from its skin, you're set for literal generations, because it doesn't break after like 5 years. And if that thing does eventually break, you can still break it up and use the leather for new, smaller, things. And once those things break, too, to the point where the leather can't be reused, you can throw it away, knowing that it will decompose soon, instead of sticking around forever.

And I'm sure there's plenty more things, but it all ends up leading back to money and capitalism. Capitalism tells companies to get money. More money. More money. Get absolutely obscene amounts of money.

and of course the first question that regular people always ask is "but why?" But here's the thing: the "why" isn't important in capitalism. There's no reason behind the hoarding of wealth, because the hoarding of wealth is the reason.
