Okay so technically I've already discussed what instruments our wanderers play, but.
But what if human instruments, what then? Orchestra headcanons be upon ye:
Edda mostly sings, really - solos are her forte hehe. However, she does also play violin because... yeah. It's not her favorite though. she can also cover as a percussionist, so you'll see her on timpani and bells sometimes. (These, of course, belong to the college, not her.)
Aven plays cello, because cello is a gorgeous instrument. He has also played a lute before (belongs to the college), and once got to try his hand at the theorbo (belonged to someone at the music festival). He's actually pretty good at guitar, but that doesn't fit too solidly in the orchestra most times (his own is acoustic).
The General plays the harp, and also the hammered dulcimer when necessary (dulcimer is the college's). She had the pleasure of attempting the theremin one time at a festival and had a lot of fun with it.
Aziel plays the double bass, and can play the viola (he's not as good at that though...). Also, because this is Aziel, he plays the alto saxophone. He tried clarinet at one point and was bored out of his mind, but that was in middle school (have I mentioned that this is basically a weird high school/college au setting?). (Also the clarinet was rented, saxophone was rent to own so he owns it now.)
Willow plays the trumpet. Everyone is confused. She also plays trombone, but that she borrows from the college.
Summum plays the bassoon and bass clarinet. On occasion the director recruits him to clarinet.
Throne plays the oboe, and for some reason can also play the French horn. She's very good at both.
Archi plays flute and piccolo. She doesn't use the piccolo often, and will come for your kneecaps if you dare put "piano" or "pianissimo" in the piccolo part. She also kinda despises ledger lines, because they are exceedingly annoying to sight-read. (Hi hello I'm projecting my flute struggles on Archi-)
Bonus: Ceren (Demon) can play the kazoo and the triangle.

Musicians in Taylor’s Time Article
Does listing referencing a lot of older musicians and dressing like them remind you of anyone else? And the particular list of Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Elvis…
This TikTok pointed out that some of the Time photos reference the artists. Taylor is a huge fan of music, but it’s unusual for her to refer to so many older musicians in this way. It is exactly like Harry Styles though, he fanboys about musicians of all eras and genres any chance he gets. Particularly some of these who were mentioned:
Elvis Presley - Harry “The first music I ever heard was Elvis Presley,” Styles told Rolling Stone. “When I was little, we got a karaoke machine and I sang Elvis because that’s what my grandparents listened to.” He also included Elvis on his another man mix tape.
Michael Jackson and Madonna - neither Harry or Taylor have specifically listed MJ or Madonna as influences as far as I know, outside being “king and queen of pop” in 80’s, (i.e. 1989). They've each been given those the titles since, Harry - King of pop by Rolling Stone and Taylor - Queen of pop by Vulture.
Bob Dylan, Taylor has referenced Dylan in the making of Getaway Car she said "a Dylany kinda thing" and on Betty, written with William Bowery. In his Apple Music documentary Harry included included an excellent impression of Dylan.
Paul McCartney - Taylor did an interview with McCartney for Rolling Stone. Last week Taylor liked a tweet indicating that Sweet Nothing, another William Bowery collab was inspired by him. Harry is also heavily influenced by the Beatles, WITW and Sweet Creature in particular is influenced by McCartney. Harry has also done an interview with McCartney, and referred to the album Linda and Paul made together, Ram, many times including to Rolling Stone, Howard Stern and the another man mixtape.
Joni Mitchell - Taylor lists Joni as an influence. Harry has referred to Joni in song as well as written referenced her including Canyon Moon, for which he hunted down a Dulcimer from the same maker as Mitchel’s.
Stevie Nicks - Stevie Nicks calls Harry the love child she never had, Harry inducted her to the hall of fame, Stevie performed in the Fine Line one night only, Harry included the Chain on his first setlist, Stevie heard all of Harry’s albums before complete and he brought a carrot cake to a Fleetwood Mac concert. Stevie has gifted both Harry and Taylor a crescent moon necklace, Taylor has had hers since 2015.

Okay, so you all know I did Brozone Headcanon of a Vietnamese troll speaker and give you a little bit of its history so I’ll be extending on it a bit more just because I love to share my culture with other people I don’t think I appreciate my culture enough because I live in the state
—————————
Okay, again I was saying that there is a tribe in the trolls village so far away that no trolls has ever heard of it not even Queen Barb or
Queen Poppy has ever heard of them.
They are known as the V-pop trolls (Vietnamese pop trolls) but there's not just pop Vietnamese trolls there's also Vietnamese music genres that the trolls lived in V-pop village with the Viet pop trolls.. let me explain…
(Also this is just my Oc headcanon I did do my fullest research on this if you still want to learn more fill free to look them up)
—————————
You have the Vietnamese Folk Music Trolls: They are extremely diverse just like the folk music trolls they can be classified by their melodies, instrument and much more
Then you have your Ca trù trolls: They are a popular folk music which have begun with a female (troll) singer who is charmed her enemy with her voice and they are also known as hát co đầu or hát nói their music is through storytelling and it comes from Northern part of V-pop village
The Chấu Văn Trolls: They also came from the northern part of V-pop village they are also a traditional folk music which combines with both singing and dancing their music are super poetry and they are combine with variety of instruments, rhythm, pauses and tempos
Ah Floyd’s favorite The cải lượng Trolls: they are a reformed theater is a form of modern folk opera in V-pop village they are blended together with classical music and modern spoke drama and did I mention they can be emotional 🥹 and they are from the southern Vietnamese folk music
Thế Quan họ trolls: They are also Vietnamese folk style music and is characterized by antiphonal nature with alternating groups of females (Trolls) and male (Trolls) singers issuing musical challenges and responses
Then you have the almost well known genres the V-pop just like K-pop Trolls: They are a abbreviation of Vietnamese pop music which it was from the 1990’s to present day many young trolls would listen to V-pop also their songs are in Vietnamese like rap and much more…
Than you have the Nhạc do Trolls: They are “called the red music” is kinda similar to V-pop but their music began soon after the beginning of the 20th century during the French colonial period their music is kinda upbeat (at least that what I think I only listen to it once)
—————-
So I have talked a little bit about the Vietnamese instrument so I decided to write down what instrument I think brozone + poppy & Viva would played…
—————
John Dory:
I could see him playing the đàn đày basically is a plucked lute with 3 strings with a trapezoid wooden body and a very long wooden neck w 10 rised frets
He could also Played the Dan Nguyen is a two-string southern guitar
Bruce:
I can see him playing both the Bamboo Flute and a Dan Ty La which is a Vietnamese traditional orchestra is a pear shaped like instrument which has twisted strings
Clay:
Although there’s plenty of Vietnamese traditional instruments I would see clay killing it at the đàn Tam thập lục it looks like a piano but no is a hammered dulcimer w 36 metal strings and it used in various Vietnamese music genres and drama as-well this instrument is similar to the Chinese version which is called a Yangqin
Floyd:
Being in his sensitive nature side he would crushed it at đàn bầu is a Vietnamese string instrument from the monochord zither is sounds so beautiful and calming it sometimes makes Floyd shed a tear of how smooth it sounds he would also play the bamboo flute
Branch:
That troll can play all sort of instrument but I personally think he would be good at playing the Zither it’s similar to the Dan bầu so any Vietnamese instrument you throw at him he can play it
Poppy:
She would be good at playing the Dan Ty la and also she could play the K’ni but she mostly loves to play the Dan Ty la b/c of how good it sounds
Viva:
She and clay would played the Dan tam thap luc together on their free time and she could also played the Dan bau and she’s learning how to play the Dan day
———————
V-POP trolls diets?
So many people would think we eat rice and fish and pho well there’s much more to just those stereotypes so is safe to assume their diets vary from different regions of V-pop village…
——————
Anyways there’s so much more I would like to talk about but is for another time anyways I hope you at least have some content of my oc headcanon I’ll probably talk about the fashion, Brozone +poppy and viva favorite Vietnamese food and the holiday they celebrate…

Richard and Mimi Fariña - WTBS-FM, Cambridge, Massachusetts, April 1965
Amidst the ancient folk songs that Fairport Convention played at Royal Festival Hall in September of 1969, there was an outlier — Sandy Denny's stark version of "The Quiet Joys Of Brotherhood," which set a Richard Fariña poem to the tune of "My Lagan Love." The band would record (and discard) a great version of it for Liege & Lief and Sandy would return to it on her Sandy LP in 1972. Richard and Mimi were big influences on Fairport — they also tackled "Reno, Nevada," and Richard Thompson would later recall a late 1960s encounter Fariña's dulcimer — "a holy object."
So! Let's check out a nice rarity from Richard & Mimi themselves — this excellent radio broadcast from the early folk rock daze. Dylan's Bringing It All Back Home had just been released, and the duo are already referencing "Maggie's Farm" here, as they run through some of their best tunes (and one of their worst — "A Chastity Belt" has always struck me as insufferably lame).
The DJ is Ed Freeman who would later go onto fame (infamy, maybe?) as the producer/arranger of "American Pie," and, interestingly, the electric guitarist is Barry Tashian of Barry & the Remains, of "Don't Look Back" fame. A lot of cool confluences, which is kinda what Richard Fariña was all about before his untimely death in 1966 ... after all, who else could provide a direct connection between Dylan and Thomas Pynchon?

So I had the idea of a Mario and Luigi game called Musical Mayhem. Where they’re sought out to help a Music Kingdom who’s never needed a leader, beat a bad guy who’s taken over the place. But things work differently there and their usual skills won’t do the job alone. They need to learn to fight fire with fire, aka music. There are different parts to the kingdom based off different types of instruments and the bros have got to master each one.
For strings Mario gets a guitar, and our boy Luigi I’m thinking gets a violin. For percussion maybe a snare drum for Mario and a tambourine for Luigi. For winds, saxophone for Mario (it only feels natural) and clarinet for Luigi. Finally for synth, electric guitar for Mario and Keytar for Luigi.
Thoughts? I mean which of the instruments I’ve selected work for Lou the most? I think he’d look cute playing anyone of them. But you?
Bro bro BRO the musical nerd in me is gonna go INSANE FOR THIS
STRINGS
Mario - Bass Cello (i see him as a jazzy fella)
Luigi - Ukulele (soft and cute)
Winds
Mario - Flute (Consider how much flute you hear in almost all of the Mario games, or something like it)
Luigi - Clarinet (I FREAKING AGREE. Luigi's Mansion has clarinets all over the place for him, same with the film during his flashback moment. It just fits him too perfectly)
Percussion
Mario - Steel Drum (enough said)
Luigi - Vibraphone (it also pairs with a clarinet nicely. Also....Dimentio lol)
Misc. Instruments
Mario - Saxophone, acoustic guitar, accordion, maracas
Luigi - hand pan, kalimba, lyre, dulcimer, toy piano
Mario is kinda hard for me, but LUIGI, OH MAN, the entire woodwind ensemble fits him tbh

On this episode of “I Can Fix Him” : music and a little bit of choreography thoughts for Ilia Malinin
I dunno, he’s just fascinating to me, I’m like annoyed about him sometimes but also very fond of him, and I would like him to earn those PCS
I’m not a choreographer, and I don’t skate, but I watch enough figure skating to enjoy making up imaginary choreography in my head, so this is what I’m doing. Just vibes, basically, so don’t take it very seriously lol
If he wants to continue his streak of skating to music from shows that he’s only technically old enough to watch (well, he’s older now though) I think he should skate to music from House of the Dragon, if he’s seen it. If he hasn’t, then no, but let’s go with it for now
The music is his vibe, but it’s a little bit bigger than what he’s used in the past, to push him a bit but nothing too wildly different. He doesn’t need to do Swan Lake or anything (in fact, Ilia, please do not)
Overall, I’d like to see less crazy arm choreo than the Succession program, more defined, decisive movements, especially in the opening of the program, before and between the first couple of jumps. Sort of like, do you remember Junhwan Cha’s 21/22 short program where he’d do some moves, then stop (not actually come to a stop, but be traveling quickly but not moving his body for a moment)? Kind of that vibe- goes with the music and keeps it interesting without lots of arms all over the place
(Also maybe that would sort of force him to work a lot on his skating skills, which would be nice. Sometimes really good crossovers and nice changes of direction to cool music really are nicer to watch than all the arm-waving someone can muster)
Now here’s where we get crazy, though- make that boy do a spiral. Not a 0.5-second arabesque- a real, honest-to-God spiral and HOLD it. He has long legs, it would look really impressive if he did it well. It can be a Kerrigan spiral if it must, but he HAS to straighten his knee. Maybe Kerrigan spiral actually is best because he has more to do and only really one arm to contend with so he doesn’t feel so awkward holding one position for a while. I’m thinking maybe free arm in front of him and he sort of grabs something in the air, that’s skating choreography basics lol
(This is my thought process: I was listening to “Reign of the Targaryens” and that moment at 0:28 just sounds like the start of a spiral. I would do a spiral there, and I can’t even do a spiral. Also the people love spirals, and it’s extra rare and exciting when a man does a spiral, so he could get some good will from a lot of skating fans who are currently kinda “meh” about him except for the quad Axel)
Thing is, I doubt Ilia would want to do a spiral, and if he doesn’t want to, it will probably not be a very good spiral, so backup plan is a spread eagle, but he needs to HOLD that, too. Whatever it is, it has to be a sustained gliding type move and he has to hold it for a good long time, this is non-negotiable
Moving on from spiral fantasies, thing is, I haven’t seen the show myself, so I’m not sure which pieces of music you’d need to include to focus on a particular aspect of the story or a particular character, so I’m just throwing sort of general stuff at the wall
If- IF- it makes narrative sense, “Rhaenyra’s Welcome” sounds like decent music to start on. It’s interesting, but it still starts out slow, so there’s room to build, and he doesn’t have to use up a ton of energy trying to match it. It’s dramatic and slow-building, so he can take his time setting up his jumps and the music will help sell it anyway because it’s suspenseful but there’s still quite a lot going on underneath. Also these phrases with the long strings and then moments with just drums and something that sounds like maybe a hammer dulcimer in between are just so good for that kind of thing. Like picture, and we can cut music or have something repeat or whatever so he has enough to time to get ready for it but not too much time because he only has four minutes to do everything, quad Axel at 0:20 in the original music, right on the end of that phrase, everybody loses their mind, you know the drill, but the music keeps going slowly but relentlessly on, oh boy! what’s going to happen next?
We’d really need to do some music cutting and pasting magic to get him into maybe quad Lutz at what’s originally 0:29 because if you just play the song that’s not enough time, especially between the hardest jumps anyone’s ever done, so let’s pretend we have the Music Cut Fairy on our side because it’s a perfect moment, and the contrast will be good because the end of this phrase is up while the last one was down, and it has a sharper feel with the drum (Lutz is the sharpest jump, it’s fitting)
Or if that isn’t feasible or if we just like it better, 0:35 is also a really good spot, and the drum right before would be really cool
And so on and so forth. The point is, this kind of music will make things seem really big and cool and kind of gives the skater a little boost in the performance aspect (by sort of tricking your brain into thinking things are cooler than they are, but hey, all program music does that in some way or another- might as well choose music that does it in the way most advantageous to you)
Those are my thoughts, I could figure out some more, but it’s all just vibes and a few sort of snapshot moments anyway, so I’ll leave it there
#figure skating#i feel like that meme picture of the guy in front of the board with all the papers and strings and a crazed expression on his face

"playing violin is dangerous bc what if a string snaps" emphasising this, not just because your point is good, but also because i once made the mistake of changing my lap dulcimer strings while in the nude, and one snapped and almost took off a nipple. i had a huge boob welt for over a month. learn from my mistakes, everyone.
ok first of all I'm sorry that happened to you, but also "changing my lap dulcimer strings while in the nude" kinda rocks as a mental image. Renaissance painting behaviors.
#the goodsola has spoken#iconic tbh#I said that bc I knew an orchestra kid in high school who almost lost an eye from a violin string snapping

Lol, a "map" refinery29.com/en-us/2018/01/186633/harry-styles-tattoo-guide
His tattoos made me think of JM's song Blue. Kinda made me think her title track was a key (like in a map) for her album tracks. I also thought of this song when I heard Cruel Summer & My Tears Ricochet- but then again JM was a TS influence.
Why is Joni Mitchell's Blue important?
“Blue” is Mitchell's first song cycle whereby all the songs interrelate in their theme of loss and transformation. Released in 1971, the album reflects the disillusionment and disenchantment felt by a generation during the closing of The Sixties. “It's a description of the times,” Mitchell attests.
classicalbumsunday.com
Blue
Blue Songs are like tattoos You know I've been to sea before Crown and anchor me Or let me sail away Hey Blue And there is a song for you Ink on a pin Underneath the skin An empty space to fill in [Blank Space] Well there're so many sinking Now you've got to keep thinking You can make it thru these waves Acid, booze, and ass Needles, guns, and grass Lots of laughs Lots of laughs Everybody's saying that hell's the hippest way to go well I don't think so, but I'm Gonna take a look around it though Blue I love you
Blue Here is a shell for you Inside you'll hear a sigh A foggy lullaby There is your song from me
Crown and anchor
chuck-a-luck played with three dice having faces bearing a crown, an anchor, and the four aces and with a cloth or board marked with similar figures on which the players place their bets.
Merriam-Webster Dictionary
They were both inspired by that album to learn to play a dulcimer and make a song with it. That album is so important to both of them. Explains the nautical theme between them.

I absolutely love this part in idsmile bc in the song it sounds like it’s played by a ranard (kinda like a xylophone) and I’m in a band with ranard players so I wanna try learning it on my dulcimer (since ranard and dulcimer can use the same notes and stuff) (but usually ranard would harmonize while dulcimer plays melody)
#hammered dulcimer#ranard#this probably makes no sense I’m sorry#I’m really enthusiastic about the dulcimer and ranard so when I heard it I was so happy#also sekai symphony 2021 I hate how they played the spammed notes part as a Thai music musician that hurt#I would’ve gotten my ass beat if I ever played like that

hey just in case you didn't know- the hammered dulcimer is pretty similar to the yangqin, so if you want more covers for insp there might be more there available!
I mean, yeah, that's technically true, but it's more a family of instruments? The different variations don't quite sound the same. The way the strings are arranged and grouped makes a difference in the sound of the instrument (I think the yangqin has them in twos and threes usually? I know the santoor has them in fours and the cimbalom has them in threes and fours).
Like, I can play the cimbalom kinda... decently? (I'm rusty as all shit, it's not exactly the kind of instrument you can keep or practice in a small flat because it's pretty big and really quite loud.) and to my ear it doesn't sound enough like the yangqin to use it as a substitute.

Like, the difference is probably not as big as I make it out to be, but if I had a character playing the Viola it would feel a bit cheap to use Violin covers as their inspiration.

Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers at People’s Bank Theatre, Marietta, Ohio, Sept. 14, 2023
The full house responded lustily as Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers nodded to the Ohio River border between Ohio and West Virginia with the traditional “Old Kentucky Shore.”
The moment came three songs in to the sextet’s Sept. 14 gig at Marietta, Ohio’s, People’s Bank Theatre. And though this was a free show that came with a gratis advance copy of the Spirit Trail 25th Anniversary Edition (due Oct. 27), it was clear that concertgoers didn’t simply snap up the 942 tickets on a whim.
They wanted to be there. And so did Hornsby and the band, who played a concert imbued with “strange stylistic pacing,” as Bruuuuuce put it. As it unfolded, the gig traversed peaks and valleys spanning 1986’s The Way it Is through 2022’s ’Flicted (Chuck Berry’s “Too Much Monkey Business”) with requests and flights of fancy tossed in across its two-hour, 25-minute duration.
Despite some atypical soft spots along the way, the show had its share of highlights, many of which came from guitarist Gibb Droll, who keeps a little bit of Hornsby’s former Grateful Dead bandmate Jerry Garcia in his amp, and multi-instrumentalist John Mailander, whose fiddle would link up with his fellow brother in strings for glorious improvisations. Hornsby, too, played whatever came to his mind, often throwing his band delightfully off kilter and leaving the audience to wonder where things were heading.
As is his wont, Hornsby told the Noisemakers: “I’m gonna play ’em and you guys just kinda dick around.” This was particularly sage advice when Hornsby unexpectedly lit into Robert Johnson’s “Come On in My Kitchen” and the traditional “Little Sadie” late in the set.
These followed a stripped-back interlude with Hornsby seated and playing dulcimer in a semicircle with drummer Chad Wright on “warshboard” and spoons and Mailander on mandolin and fiddle for a reimagined take on “Every Little Kiss.” Later, Hornsby strapped on his squeezebox for a grinding “Big Stick.”
The evening began at one minute after 8 as Hornsby retrieved request sheets from folks in the front row and got down to business. With his piano facing J.T. Thomas’ keyboard up front and ringed by bassist J.V. Collier, Wright, Mailander and Droll in back, Hornsby promoted the Spirit Trail reissue with “Preacher in the Ring Pt. II” before pulling out a completely reworked “The Way it Is” - to the point that Collier could be heard laughing with delight off mic - after promising the audience the band was going “to be kind and play an old, very big hit for you.”
It was kind. It just wasn’t what some were expecting.
