Ducati DesertX 2023 Model lauched at price Rs 17.91 Lakh

So after I made the post on Yamato's motorcycle in Kizuna, I was informed by multiple sources that his motorcycle is without any doubt a Ducati 848, and looking at it myself, even I'm like "okay there's no way it's anything else," so I'm removing the last post to prevent misinformation spread (I don't mind having a record of myself being very blatantly wrong, but misinformation is misinformation).
I'll fully admit that I really don't know much about motorcycles in terms of their technical specs at all, so I was primarily relying on the friend who was talking to me about it, and amusingly, when I brought this update up to them, they immediately went like "are you kidding" because Ducati hadn't even been on their radar. "Like hell is that an accessible bike for a college student!!"
But while their concern was the price (it'd have been something like 2 million yen in 2010), personally, as someone who was more familiar with the series and Yamato, I didn't think that was that big of a deal considering I can easily imagine him saving up for one over a long period of time, especially taking into account the idea he'd apparently been into this hobby for at least five years. From my perspective, the part I'm more concerned about is the accessibility: something with a combustion as high as 849 cc classifies as a large two-wheel vehicle with license and maintenance requirements that are so difficult that most Japanese resources discourage you from going for that unless you really, really are committed to this. (But Yamato was seen taking the bike all the way to Yokohama at the end of the movie, so maybe this isn't that unreasonable.)
But nevertheless, it is also true that there's nothing outright forbidding Yamato from having one (the license minimum age is 18), so in conclusion:
Given the requirements for said license, Yamato is canonically capable of lifting a 168-kilogram motorcycle and pushing it around unassisted.
(That, and he's really committed to the bit...but it's Yamato, so that shouldn't be surprising.)

okay i actually do have a hottake re: marc hater in unhinged confessions. as a marc disliker i think i see where they're coming from but disagree with the delivery. this is gonna be a long one.
they're correct about everything, like from a factual standpoint. marc did win an absurd amount of races in the 2010s, he did push honda to build a bike that favored his style, he did leave for ducati and he does still get tows.
but i think they're overinflating how much those facts affected his career. like, 2013 still happened; that wasn't a bike that favored him and he was riding on tracks he'd never even seen before. he's naturally talented, there's no way around it. and i see how that can be frustrating too -- i started watching motogp in about 2017 and i didn't like marc from the get-go. frankly, no matter how many exciting overtakes or impressive saves there are, if you can predict the outcome of a race before it starts, it's not a very entertaining one, or at least it adds up to a pretty boring season. that's how i felt.
as far as the concept of "overcommitment": this is a very niche term, also called overconformity, used in sports sociology. the idea proposed by some sociologists is that sportsmen subscribe to the ethic of the sport -- the pervasive ideas on what the sport should be, and what it means to be participating in it -- but some take it too far, and it becomes self-sabotage. sociologists jay coakley and robert hughes describe the core tenets of the theory:
overconformity is not just about wanting to win or be superior to other competitors, it's an uncritical belief in the mythology of a given sport.
coakley and hughes' framework was developed to explain deviance, or a deliberate action that breaks the rules or norms of a sport. they use multiple examples, but focus on the use of PEDS.
here's the problem: is marquez deviant?
he's certainly sacrificed his own wellbeing to get ahead. i think this is a functional analysis when looking at marc's injuries, multiple of which have temporarily or permanently disabled him. he internalized the messages of the sport, that winning is the only option and injuries can or even should be sustained to achieve it. but he's not breaking any rules by riding injured, he's doing something glorified as heroic. same thing with hitching tows, which is perhaps closer true deviance; a tactic disliked by many other riders that benefits one participant at the cost of another. a ban on towing would be difficult to enforce, so the practice goes unchecked, even if it is typically outside the boundary of acceptable behaviors. where anon's analysis really falls apart is in his off-track decisions, like choosing to switch from honda to ducati. he made an informed decision to switch manufacturers to improve his performance. that's just the way the game works.
when speaking about the ways he contributed to the development of the modern honda project, my opinions start to get a little messier. because i do think that bike was made with his specific style in mind, and i think that's selfish. but i also think just about every rider is selfish, because that's how the sport works.
there have been outliers, teammates dedicated to the craft, the altruists ready to defend their garage-mate's championship hopes at the price of their own. consider jack miller's defense of pecco bagnaia when they were teammates. but even his opinions changed:
the above quote was published in 2021, just before the misano grand prix, which pecco did end up winning while miller finished fifth. the next year, he had this to say:
not all riders are going to sacrifice their career for another's. that's just not the way it works, especially if, as i discussed above, said rider has fully internalized the sport's ethic. though marc's prowess on the honda did come at the cost of more riders' success than just one teammate -- the independent teams leasing hondas also have to contend with the bike and its quirks, leading to plenty of nasty crashes. marquez himself acknowledges it.
the honda of the mid to late 2010s was the sharpest of the v4s, took a very angular line that required absolutely godlike reflexes in order to turn correctly. you had to know exactly when and where to shift, brake, release the brake, and open the throttle again, and you had to do all of this with milisecond-perfect accuracy. just about only marc was able to make it work. if you disagree, don't listen to me. listen to jorge lorenzo, who said this in an interview with Motorsprint earlier this year:
the exception to this rule was pedrosa, who was able to adapt to the honda build, but still didn't win a championship.
i've spent enough time building my argument. what all of this amounts to is that yes, your honor, marc marquez is guilty of being too good at motorcycle racing. he has sacrificed his body and plenty of other riders' in the name of creating the perfect team, the perfect bike, the perfect career.
it's up to you to choose how to feel about all of this. personally, i don't care for him, but more than that i worry about his safety and his mental state. i think if he sustains another head injury, it may be time to make the executive decision to retire. brain damage is serious, and though he recovered from the vision problems that plagued him in 2021, they have the potential to return if re-injured. i may buy into the villain narrative from time to time, but i recognize that it is just that, a narrative. a story i tell myself to make sense of the sport. we are all in charge of our own interpretations. in summation: marc fans are not "brainless". let's make sure marc doesn't end up that way either.
#i see a 3 paragraph anon hate message and think hah. i could write more than that#motogp#marc marquez

Some very short cod headcanons cuz why not
Starting of w
Ghost Simon Riley:
Rides a Scrambler Ducati.
Fucker wears glasses.
I’m talkin he can’t see bs when reading
Snores like a fuckin chainsaw
Just gonna say rq idfc if ppl get offended but:
He’s in his early/mid thirties abt 33 sumn like that
John “Soap” Mactavish
Flexes his engine on his mt07 when others are around cause “Its too bloody damn loud”
Brought a whole ass mini owen to base bc there isn’t a fuckin kitchen to be used properly on the base
2am ramen is a must
Kind of like Simon he also wears glasses except for he doesn’t have that much of a shitty eyesight when it comes to reading.
For someone who’s only thirty people think that he’s older. And gets extremely offended if someone says that he looks old
Gaz Kyle Garrick:
Unlike anyone from this list he actually is fairly scared of bikes and isn’t scared to admit it.
Steals Simons tea bags sometimes.
Just like Johnny he’s thirty but the only difference is that everyone is always surprised bc to them Kyle looks like he’s no more then 27/28yo
Is the one who calls Johnny old
He has a Switch and plays Animal Crossing religiously
Roach Gary Sanderson:
Ghost calls him “old man”
Gets offended by it cause he’s only 2 year older then Ghost.
Rides a Triumph Daytona 675 and flexes even more on the others. Meanwhile Gaz is covering his ears and praying he would stop (he does quickly but likes to do it for shits and giggles), Soap is being a lil jealous and Ghost is crossing his hands and signing while Price is just takin a hit out of his cigar.
He’s very friendly toward the newbies and will pull jokes here and there that are actually funny.
Has a tendency to steal Prices bucket hats and not return them until he sees Price being bat shit pissed.
John Price:
When he was a teen Nikolai introduced him to the world of motorcycles. But shortly after he got into a reallyyyyh bad accident so he stopped riding sport bikes so he chose to ride a Harley cruiser…(bad choice if ya ask me)
If anyone dares to prank him, he will bring the whole team into his office and will smoke at least two cigars and make the whole team suffocate
Has a “#best dad” mug. Swear he doesn’t use it but the coffee stains from the inside say otherwise
No matter how much Gaz says he’s Prices favorite. It’s unlikely cause his favorite is our Middle Eastern Queen Farah 💗
As you could’ve realized I am a huge motorcycle fan and I am a biker myself so yeah I also had to incorporate some of my biker knowledge into this. Also I rarely see people write abt Roach 😭😭😭 why’s that. I need me some more Roach hcs or x reader ffcs

What Makes Ducati Bikes a Racer’s Dream?
Ducati bikes are the ultimate racer’s dream, renowned for their powerful engines, cutting-edge technology, and iconic Italian craftsmanship. Built with precision and performance in mind, these bikes dominate the superbike world, delivering an exhilarating experience both on and off the track.
One key feature that makes Ducati bikes stand out is their exceptional engineering. Engines like the Desmosedici Stradale V4 and the Testastretta L-Twin deliver unmatched power and speed, allowing riders to push boundaries.
Combined with advanced aerodynamics, including MotoGP-inspired winglets, these bikes ensure optimal downforce and stability, even at high speeds. This makes Ducati bikes a preferred choice for professional racers and enthusiasts looking to sharpen their track skills.
Technology plays a pivotal role in the appeal of Ducati bikes. Equipped with state-of-the-art electronics such as traction control, cornering ABS, and quick-shifter systems, these motorcycles offer a level of precision that transforms the racing experience. For example, models like the Panigale V4 S incorporate adaptive suspension and race-mode settings to ensure peak performance on any circuit.
Despite their premium reputation, the Ducati bike price range accommodates a variety of budgets. Entry-level models like the Monster SP offer racing DNA at an accessible price point, while high-performance options like the Panigale V4 R cater to those seeking top-tier performance. This flexibility ensures that riders with varying budgets can still enjoy the thrill and prestige associated with Ducati bikes.
Lightweight construction is another standout feature. Using materials like carbon fiber and aluminum, Ducati bikes are designed for superior handling and responsiveness. This allows racers to corner aggressively and maintain stability, giving them a competitive edge.
Whether it’s the raw power of the engine, the advanced technology, or the range of models at competitive Ducati bike prices, Ducati bikes remain a dream machine for racers worldwide. They blend performance, innovation, and style, making them the gold standard for anyone passionate about speed and racing excellence.

This anon knows that I am secretly a Car Guy™.
Renault Avantime
Look at this thing. Look at this European-ass Ford Flex wannabe bullshit. It gets some points for being a coupe, somehow - Time would rather not drive around with a back door that someone could pop into at will - but even a sick set of tints isn't going to hide his embarrassment at this beaky profile. There's a nose joke in there somewhere. 3/10.
Acura Legend
Impeccable. Looks like someone's first car so that they can haul ass back and forth to college several times a year. Ravio and Legend rip out the back seats to make room for as much product as this shitty 2.5L can manage. The back is also positively PLASTERED in the most amazing sarcastic bumper stickers you can imagine (Bestie Please Let Me Merge, I Fucked Bigfoot, etc.). 10/10
Nissan Skyline
Some part of me hurts to think that Sky would be a Nissan driver, but that's my own personal bias. Does look like something he would take out for weekend track days or the odd drag strip competition and wipe the floor with others. When Groose pulls up he parks entirely too close and gets Sky's rare scowl for even joking about having scratched the paint. 8/10
Renault Wind
Look at this fuckin thing. Wind hates it. Daddy bought it for him as a "Sorry I missed your 16th birthday!" gift. The only saving grace is that it's not the powder blue version; Wind would have turned those keys right over to Aryll SO FAST. It's hardly big enough for him to bring a surfboard to the beach in. The convertible is a nice touch for sunset beach drives though. 5/10.
Ford Ranger Wildtrak
Can you imagine??? Can you imagine?????? Wild wakes up one morning after a night of hard partying to suddenly remember, "I have a car." He digs through his old belongings to produce a nondescript keychain - which he promptly switches out for a big sparkly white puffball - and wanders off into the world to find where he parked THIS truck of Champion's. The ENERGY of seeing tiny Wild with his long hair blowing out the side window as he rolls up in THIS THING is hysterical to me. He will literally never be able to double-park it and just pull it up over the sidewalk to leave it in Time's yard. 11/10.
Toyota FourRunner
If one person - if ONE PERSON - makes a short joke Four is gonna flip the fuck out. He'll need the version with side rails so he can actually get into the damn thing, probably, and the seat adjuster is aftermarket so that he can bring the driver's seat up high enough to see over the steering wheel. Bonus points, though, that he can drive right over all the haters. However, I would argue that this isn't the best city car for someone like Four. Yes it can haul lots of junk in the back for his work needs, but a pickup truck - and something older that he can service himself - would suit him a bit better. 7/10
Renault Twizy
Sure, let's put the anxious kid on the highway between two 18-wheelers in this little Fisher Price death trap. His shoulders wouldn't fit inside this thing, let alone his ass. 0/10
Eagle Malon TSi
Well if this isn't a divorcee car then I don't know what is. Does get some points since it looks like it would run badly forever, which is the solid basis of any good farmer's errand car. I do like to think, though, that Malon would have a bit more self respect than this. 1/10.
Rolls Royce Silver Shadow
I had to include the photo with the text because that's so something Shadow would make himself. Four loudly and vehemently disagrees; he's spent more time on his back beneath that engine bay fixing electrical issues nearly as quickly as Shadow can cause them. Perhaps the aftermarket tablet screen he had installed in the center console at some dubious backyard mechanic was a bad idea. Also I bet that engine is so fucking loud and puts out NO power. 7/10
Mitsubishi L200 Warriors
What the hell and fuck is this? What are all the antennae for, so he can be tuned in to the latest Sephora sale?? And the extra lighting, is that for his Instagram photoshoots??? Ew, do you think Wars is an Instagram influencer???? -0.5/10
Ducati Diavel Dark
Oh, this is canon. 15/10
Range Roolie
I just had a visceral reaction picturing our own Doctor Hyrule, MD, rolling around town in this thing hopelessly lost. He somehow keeps missing all the turns on his GPS. The OnStar dispatcher eventually gets to know him by name. They just talk while he's on his way to work in the morning. 10/10
#stormy asks#hsh#townhouse au#i love that you gave a Renault for all three of the relatives#the points are all entirely arbitrary#hello i love this ask

A Day in the Park
A series of dates where Vegas and Pete heal their inner children together. Date one: in the park.
Short VegasPete fic, posted as a twitfic and edited a little for Tumblr. Fluff, rated T.
Vegas spent a truly frustrating morning stuck in the shop, haggling over the price of new tires for his Ducati, and when he got home all he wanted to do was cuddle up to Pete for a while and decompress. It was the weekend, so Macau would be around, which meant sex was unlikely. But Vegas didn't care. He just wanted to be with Pete for a while and fucking 𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘹 for once.
So he was a bit annoyed when he got back to the condo and discovered that Pete wasn't there. And neither was Macau, for that matter.
It wasn't like they were obligated to wait for him at home, of course. Still, it irritated him. He just wanted some downtime with Pete! And he had a headache. And where were they, anyway?
He pulled out his phone and shot a quick text to Pete to check.
Still a bit annoyed, Vegas put his phone away and left. He knew what park they'd be at - the one close by, with a big open grassy patch, walking paths, and a playground. It only took about eight minutes for him to walk there. And, already, Vegas felt slightly less irritable.
It really was a nice day. Not too hot, with a nice breeze, sunny, gorgeous. He couldn't help unwinding a bit as he made it to the park and then spotted two familiar figures sitting on a blanket on the grass nearby. They both glanced up and waved as he drew close. Macau made a face at him. "Should've known you'd crash our date."
That made Pete laugh and shake his head, beckoning Vegas over. Vegas shot Macau a small glare before kicking off his shoes and climbing onto the blanket, settling with his head in Pete's lap.
Pete shaded a hand over Vegas' eyes to protect him from the bright sunlight. "I missed you."
"I missed you too," replied Vegas softly, smiling up at Pete.
"You're both disgusting. Let's eat before I lose my appetite," interrupted Macau, and Vegas shot him another glare.
But he didn't protest. Nor did he sit up. Instead he just made puppy-dog eyes at Pete until Pete rolled his eyes and started feeding him bites from their street food. Macau let out a very long-suffering sigh, but didn't protest, and before long their food was gone.
Vegas was undeniably in a better mood and closed his eyes, enjoying the feel of the sun on his skin and his head in Pete's lap. Pete's fingers toyed with his hair and it was so nice and relaxing. He loved these little moments with Pete. Moments he never thought he'd get to have.
A noise disturbed him and he opened his eyes, Pete shading his gaze again, to see Macau standing up. "I'm going home," he announced, making a face at them. "I don't want to feel horribly single for hours because of you two. Bye!"
Vegas wondered if he should feel guilty as he watched Macau walk away. But he didn't. Macau would find someone someday, and besides, he'd gone through enough. He deserved time with Pete. After everything.
They spent quite a while just lounging in the sun together, chatting, and then silent, drowsing. Though Vegas wasn't entirely able to sleep because of the sounds coming from the nearby playground. He wasn't annoyed, necessarily, by the chatter from the children. In fact, he found it kind of cute the way they called and laughed and played... although it made him sad.
He'd never been allowed to play on playgrounds as a child. It wasn't safe, and Gun disapproved of "play" because he believed Vegas should be focused on training to become his heir. And Vegas had never cared - never wanted friends. He didn't think he was missing anything.
But now, as an adult... he did. He felt the loss, not having carefree memories of his childhood. He realized, at some point, that he was looking off to the side and watching children play on the swings. Pete's fingers stroked his hair softly.
"Hey." Vegas glanced up and found Pete looking down at him, a sparkle of something playful in his eyes.
"What?"
"Do you want to play on the swings?" Vegas blinked, and stared up at him in surprise. "But... we're adults. Isn't that weird?"
"I don't really care. I think it sounds fun." Pete smiled playfully. "Come on, push me!"
Vegas didn't entirely know what was happening, but the next thing he knew, Pete had gotten him up and they were approaching the swings, holding hands. The swings were momentarily empty the children off playing elsewhere. Which made him feel slightly less awkward as Pete sat down on a swing and shot him a smile. "Push me!"
"Okay, baby. Okay." Vegas couldn't help feeling amused as he walked around to give Pete a push. Pete swung his feet out.
Vegas pushed him again as he swung back, harder this time, and Pete laughed, throwing his head back to look at Vegas. "This is fun. Push me higher!"
Vegas couldn't help laughing incredulously as well but wouldn't deny Pete that, so he stepped back to give more room. The next time, he pushed Pete 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥, and Pete swung higher, giggling.
They continued like that for a while, until suddenly, Pete dragged his feet on the ground and brought himself to a stop. "Your turn!"
Vegas blinked, but when Pete looked at him like that, all flushed with excitement and happiness, hair windswept, Vegas couldn't say no. So he rounded the swing and sat in it, feeling vaguely uncomfortable.
Pete's hands were firm on his back, pushing him up, then harder, and Vegas swung his legs to help with momentum.
In moments, he was laughing like a child, wind whipping through his hair as he crested the arc and felt weightless, then swung back, only for Pete to push him again, higher and higher. Pete was laughing, too, and Vegas couldn't remember the last time he'd felt like this. So free.
When he finally dragged his feet on the ground to bring himself to a stop, he was flushed and giggly. And the park was empty - it was getting kind of hot, so the parents had taken the kids home. Vegas couldn't help grinning at Pete playfully, feeling light inside.
"Race you to the top of that slide!" He ran off as soon as he finished speaking and he heard Pete laugh behind him. But it didn't matter, because a moment later he reached the slide and wriggled into it. It was a bit snug, but he managed to work his way up.
But he heard a thump outside, and a shadow passed over him. "Slow poke!" called Pete's muffled voice from outside.
"That's cheating!" Vegas wriggled the rest of the way up the slide but found Pete already perched at the very top when he stuck his head out, grinning down at him.
"Too slow."
Vegas stuck out his tongue, then clambered out of the slide, wrapping his arms around Pete to pick him up bodily off the top of the slide.
"Hey!" Pete giggled struggling playfully in Vegas' grip. "Let go!"
"No."
A moment later, he lost his balance and the two of them ended up sprawled out on the plastic of the playground. It was warm under Vegas' back, and uncomfortable, but he didn't care because Pete's face was right above his, looking flushed and happy and perfect.
Pete smiled down at him, then leaned down to press a light kiss into Vegas' lips, before pulling back to murmur, "I never really got to play on playgrounds when I was young. My dad wanted me to spend time training instead."
Vegas stared at him, feeling a surge of love.
They really were so similar, he realized. Sometimes it struck him over and over. They were so perfect for each other. "Me either."
"I thought so." Pete smiled at him before leaning down to kiss him again, softly. Vegas ran his fingers through Pete's hair, tugging him closer.
After a moment, they broke the kiss and Pete pinched him playfully, making Vegas jump. "Hey!"
"We should do this more often."
"Do what?" Vegas grinned up at him, then pivoted and flipped Pete onto his back. Pete yelped, then laughed.
"This. Go out and have fun. Do things we couldn't when we were kids." Pete tugged Vegas closer. "I'd like to do fun things with you." Vegas let out a soft laugh.
"Okay. I'd like that too."
Pete grinned, then promptly slid out from under Vegas, hopping down off the playground. He smiled up at Vegas. "Then lets see who can swing higher!"
Vegas couldn't help laughing, shaking his hair out of his face. "Race you there!"
Pete laughed and bolted back toward the swings, and Vegas ran after him, starstruck by the way he looked so flushed and happy.
Yeah, he definitely wanted to do this again, he thought as they started to swing again, wind whipping through his hair, feeling that same light, free feeling as before. Pete laughed and swung higher, and Vegas focused on this moment, this feeling that Pete brought out in him.
As long as he was with Pete, anything was fun. But, yes, he wanted to do more of this. It felt like being a child. And being a child with Pete was everything Vegas wanted, in this moment.
So he just focused on the present, laughing, giggling, playing, and loving Pete.
