Infernal Affairs (2002) Live Blogging

Watched The Worst of Evil in like 24 hours and that was full of excitement and adrenaline, so I feel empty now. Finished that this morning and it's almost 10pm and thinking of starting this show because of this post which mentions Junmo seems to think he's in Infernal Affairs. Is it a good idea to start a new gangster infiltration movie right after I watched Worst of Evil? Who knows. Hope it goes well

the editing is kinda killing me, why does it remind me of Bollywood a little bit, though not as dramatic as the Indian serials

20 years pass by with them in the gang, which is interesting/funny because lmao Seungho climbed the ranks fast as well in The Worst of Evil

bruh okay I'm watching these on random sites lol so at first when I started watching I was like... why do the mouths not match but seems like that one was dubbed, so I found the original on a different site. Wish I knew the difference between Mandarin vs Cantonese to tell but I think the first one was Mandarin dub while this is Canto original purely based on this being a Hong Kong movie

Should I care about this romance what i’m nervous about what is gonna happen to Yan

dang, so this guy is a cop who is also a spy for the gang and he fucking

shot and killed Yan omg

and was telling Lau that he’ll follow him now etc assuming he’s still on the gang side but Lau also ended up shooting him dead

so Wong is dead, Yan is dead, Lau continues to be the cop without anybody knowing he used to be mole

Overall:

This is a movie that I think I'd like to rewatch and would be able to follow it more on the rewatch. I'm not super used to older movies or crime/gangster movies, so I think a second watch would be beneficial.

It's fast-paced, fairly short (100 minutes), lean, and straight to the point but full of subtlety and quite philosophical in a way. The main characters have both been cosplaying for a decade and their lives have been shaped by their current lives, so despite technically being a cop and a gangster, are they still now more like their mole identities?

Infernal means like relating to hell, so these events in the show are hellish and they make references to hell at the beginning and end of the movie. Yan was a cop but nobody other than himself and Wong knew it, so after a decade, what difference does it even make that he's a cop? The thought of the little girl being his daughter is so tragic because he met the woman while he was a gangster and because of that he never got to pursue a love or a family the way other people can. In the end, what did his mission even accomplish, Wong and him both died (and Yan so close to the end too) while Lau is the while who shot Sam and is lauded with praises for it and also catching the police mole. What a tragic life he's lead.

On the other hand, Lau has always wanted to be Yan. At the Academy when he was getting kicked out because I guess he wanted to be with the gang, not spying as a cop and at the end because now Yan's dead but is laid to rest with respect while Lau is now always paranoid that somebody will find out about his previous affiliations and also the guilt of never having faced consequences. Lau's fiance's story about whether the man who was good or bad was also an interesting thread. And though Lau got the chance to have a romance unlike Yan, he lost that when Mary (?) found out that he's part of the gang.

It's a tragic ending where Wong and Yan both die while Lau is praised for killing Sam and the other cop mole without being found out as the real mole who was working with the gang for 10 years, I appreciate its bleakness. Then again, it's a movie where you don't even necessarily want Lau to face retribution because you can see him want to become better and abandon being a mole for the gang.

I liked this comment about the film discussing its philosophies/why the way it ended mattered.

{ A/N } So we have Ranveer Singh as Bikram and Arjun Kapoor as Bala. They are gay, jealous, and owners of a sleazy bar with a weird name in 1980 Mumbai. I didn't watch the movie but their slutty, chest-bearing looks are perfect for this.

Entering the decade of the eighties, Bombay wasn't short of new happenings – be it fashion or movies, music or dance, even the not-so-secret world of gangsters.

It hasn't been long since the opening of Yuppy Titli, a cheap bar open for all. Located in the shady underbelly of the Bollytown, it was quickly welcoming customers of all classes, offering local and imported liquor, and of course, drugs.

They were gaining a certain popularity among fellow goons and criminals, for the ground floor was reserved for the regular people and the upper floor for the more heavy-pocketed customers.

It was a warm night at the oddly-named bar when a fight broke out on the second floor, the sound of glass breaking heard despite the rush and chaos of two men throwing punches and colourful curses at one another. The crowd had cleared an area around them that allowed them to enjoy their tiff from a safe distance – some even cheered, a quick betting pool opening.

It was when blood splattered on the floor that the owners finally arrived, pushing through the crowd and witnessing the mess that had been made at their hard-earned business. Exchanging a glance, they dive into the fight, each grabbing the enraged men and separating them with a bored ease while the crowd's excitement toned down.

" Listen... " He tried to be polite. " If you want to fight, go outside, " the taller of the two suggests as he dragged him towards the exit, voice monotone.

" Shout, kill each other, wrestle, sex it up. Whatever you do, we won't get involved as long as it's outside, " the shorter one grinned, despite the injured continuing to struggle in their grip.

Navigating their way down the stairs, the hosts fish a hand in their shirt pocket to take whatever money they had on their person before sending them off with a kick to their back and a warning to use their faces to clean up the mess they made if they ever picked another fight in their bar again.

Counting the cash, the taller one threw an arm around his friend, sporting an annoyed frown as they head back in.

" We need to hire somebody to deal with mess like this. " Bala huffed, " We opened this bar to earn easy money, do we have to keep doing such menial work everytime some drunkard gets his feelings hurt? "

Bikram laughed, speaking over the loud music and snatching the money from his friend to deposit in the steel cash box. " One of the main reasons they come here is because they get their feelings hurt. If we ban them, we lose out money on that front. That's why I tell you to be nice while kicking them out. "

" Was I not nice enough today? "

" Should I kiss you because you did a good job? "

" When you grow some balls. "

" You won't know unless you check. "

Locking the box after counting the earnings so far, Bikram reminded, " You used to beg for my praise when we were kids though? "

They really had been together since childhood, raised on the streets with a love for Bollywood movies and a dream to become respected gangsters. It feels funny now to think instead they cater booze and entertainment to small-term goons and drug dealers, or at best, some big-name gangsters underlings.

' Guess big dreams die as you grow up. '

" I don't like you that much anymore, " responded Bala with a cheeky smile, tugging the other by the open shirt to grab a drink.

Bikram followed with a satisfied smile regardless, patting his friend's ass, " You wish! "

' At least this friendship never changed. '

Not far, bright lights focused on the stage as the music changed. The return of the dancers had everyone cheering, already half lost in their drunk and drugged up state. Bala ensured every night that the heavily muscled guards were nearby to prevent any inappropriate happenings.

One dancer in particular, Gulabi, with her rosy cheeks and cute smile, always had his attention... a lifelong crush he could not openly admit or hold back firmly. Orphans, all three of them, it was Bala himself that had given her the name.

Opening a bottle of rum, Bikram filled their glasses halfway and mixed some soda in, nudging his friend. When he doesn't immediately respond, he followed the taller male's gaze only to suddenly be vexed by the hopeless idiot's pining. He couldn't wait to see it end!

Unaware of the reason behind that annoyance all these years along still, Bikram slapped Bala's shoulder to get him out of his trance.

" Have your fucking drink! " he shoved the glass in his hand, irritation rising when the other sighed as he took a sip, looking like a kicked dog.

" What's with your tone suddenly? " Bala inquired cooly.

" She's getting married soon, get the fuck over it. She doesn't want you. "

" I am over it, " frowned Bala, unconvincing. " No need to rub it in. "

" As if! " Bikram barked a short laugh, running a hand through his hair and drinking the alcohol in one go, hissing at the burn down his throat and chest.

" Then stop staring like she's the love of your life, like you want to build another Taj Mahal for her. "

" It's nothing like that! " he laughed to mask the emotion knocking his heart over. " You act like a jealous wife. "

" I should put a leash on you until she gets married. "

Bikram sounded oddly serious, even to himself.

" When you grow some balls. "

" Do you want to see? Suck me off while you're at it. "

Bala laughed, shoving his friend's chest. Then, he took a sip from his glass, free hand moving to pick up the bottle and fill the annoyed man's empty one.

" You sure have high hopes. "

The touch was enough to cool him but it's Bala's attention diverting from that woman that cheered him up again. ' I'm such a concerned friend, ' he thought proudly, ' he's lucky to have me. '

" Attainable hopes, idiot. "

" Shut up now. If someone heard, they would misunderstand, " pointed Bala with a smile as Bikram downed half the glass, making a satisfied sound.

Then, he suggested as he finished the last of his drink, " It's almost two, should we head back? I'm hungry. "

Bikram hummed, pulling his hair back in a loose ponytail, " I'll go tell Bobby to close up in an hour. " He squeezed his shoulder, " You get the bike out. "

With a nod, the taller male stood, fishing the keys out of his pocket and making his way out of the door. Bikram grabbed the bottle of rum and head to speak to their trusted junior, Bobby, to wrap up soon and ensure to charge extra for the last dance.

Settling the final earnings for the night and tallying how much they'll be earning in the next hour, Bikram took the money out of the cash box and pocketed it for safekeeping, heading out the door.

But not before he threw a last, disapproving glance in the direction of Gulabi – who was once a friend but now somehow became someone he wished to keep a good distance from himself and Bala.

While one was unaware, the other reasoned it's because he worried of his broken heart. But they didn't know then that they would find new clarity to their actions soon.

Stepping out, he's quick to spot his friend waiting and jogged over, sitting on the back on the vehicle.

" Don't think too much about her, " he muttered as they drove off to their place.

Bala remained quiet.

" Do you understand? " Bikram pressed firmly, squeezing his shoulder.

" Yeah, yeah! " Bala rolled his eyes, shrugging his hand off, " I was just thinking of what to eat.. why are you disturbing me? "

" What do you want to eat? "

" You, " joked the heartbroken man.

" Alright, " grinned the shorter one, oddly happy now that the prickly rose was out of their sight.

notes on my religion and divinity

i guess my religion to me is just kinda what i want it to be. i pick & choose and label it as hinduism, mostly because I grew up with it and sorta identify with it. say i’m cheating, pushing the vegetables to the side of the plate, etc. but i’m not living by rules written by some dude who was around a million years ago who claimed he saw “god” and that “god” told him to write what he did. people forget that drugs existed back then, we just didn’t know that drugs were drugs. i dont think anybody’s invented a widely appreciated religion (not a cult) in the past hundred years, but every 25 year-old white dude who’s ever seen the joe rogan podcast has apparently taken dmt and seen god. take from that what you will. my point is, i can celebrate my heritage without tying myself to a strict set of rules and practices which are probably far more problematic than i’ve been led to believe. i just really love the core of hinduism, or at least how i interpret it based on my experiences, what follows is that: divinity doesn’t obscure itself, its just hard to define what’s infinite. divinity isn’t gendered, divinity doesn’t have race, etc etc etc. yeah, it sounds straight off a bumper sticker on a beat up toyota but it’s true. we can’t pretend we know what divinity is, we know so little. we spend a finite amount of time on this earth, we go a finite number of places, we have a finite number of unique experiences, and we meet a finite number of people. everything about us is finite. who’re we to talk about the infinite? luckily, all of us are a little piece of that boundlessness. we’re all divine and have that in common with everyone and everything that’s ever been or ever will be. and the energy we put out into the divine is what the divine will present us with in return. we all offer what we do to whatever we believe in based on our circumstances, and that’s okay. just like how there isn’t one way to define divinity, there isn’t one way to serve it. its like what marx said, “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs” (i know, i know, quoting marx and spouting a bunch of flowery shit describing a religion that isn’t primarily focused on how god hates your guts, tucker carlson has like a year of material off me). karma obviously isn’t a perfect science but even a clean conscience is an immeasurable reward. and despite having just described all living things as finite, in being divine, we’re all just a little infinite. whenever you were born, you came out the womb made up of fragments of everybody and everything that’s ever existed, debris of 14 trillion years. and that’s not a starry-eyed metaphor either, its just me trying to put the law of the conservation of mass poetically: matter cannot be created nor destroyed, it just changes forms. and so, eventually you’ll die like living things do, and people will weep about how you’re gone (hopefully?). but whether you’re decomposing in a box six feet under, in an urn sitting on a mantel, or frozen in a box at a secret facility in antarctica if you happen to be a rich pedophile, its all just matter at the end of the day. over the course of infinity we’ll all become part of something new, and that something new will become something new, and that something new will become something new ad infinitum (there’s that word again!). obviously the dramatized elements of rebirth you see in bollywood movies, where you suddenly start seeing flashbacks from your past life and stuff like that are a little unrealistic, but in the sense that we take on the knowledge from previous generations and contribute what we learn to the future, and that we’re physically composed of all the crap that’s ever been, we’re undoubtedly the products of rebirth. spirituality is a different thing for everybody, as it should be; we all need to find a way to make the world make sense, and that’s something we figure out on our own. we’ll all have to approach the horrors of existence alone at some point or another, and we all have to learn to make peace in whatever way works for us. for me, it comes down to just trying to make sure the good i do outweighs the bad. thats putting it simply, its either a lot harder than it sounds or i really really suck. but i try. and don’t get me wrong, there are for sure cultural aspects of hinduism that are important to me: i pray everyday, go to temple when i can, and i don’t eat meat (big part of this is environmental and health concerns and also i’m better than you and need to prove it). its not much, but i don’t think even all that is necessary by the god i believe in. i think they just want us to do what we can and what we feel is right, and as long as we do that, the world will keep doing that spinning thing it does. the choices that you make ripple across everything that is divine and your ripple will interact with all the other ripples people make every day, and eventually, your ripple will come back around, one way or another. its like waves in the ocean all crashing into each other until one sinks a boat, or the tide drags some poor guy to his death. or sometimes, a family has a fun day at the beach. the kids play in the waves and manage not to drown. i believe that we have that effect on one another on such an infinite scale precisely because, well, we’re all divine. i think you probably got that by now though.

ABOUT MELROSE: CITY OF MONSTERS

Melrose is a city just south of New York City in America, it’s a small town that is unassuming at first but is filled with dark secrets. Vampires, witches, werewolves, and humans exist together, though in a vaguely dysfunctional way. The government broke the news about vampires and werewolves only five years previous, though they’ve lived in society for far longer than that. At this point people are getting used to them living among the human population, but knowledge about magic is still kept under wraps. Vampirism, lycanthropy, and magic comes from a disease that is both highly contagious and genetic. Once you have it, you have it for life, eternal or not.This information is primarily for the first arc. MC information will be updated with each arc.

Father Robineau is a charming and well traveled individual, having been born in the 1860’s to a fur merchant and his musician wife. A tragedy struck the family in the early 1880’s when Charlie’s father snapped after a fight between them, and he supposedly killed both Charlie’s younger brother Jean Marie, as well as their mother, brutally with an axe. Charlie barely got out alive, killing their father in self defense. After getting medical attention they fled to England, hoping that their extended family would take them in.When they didn’t, Charlie settled in Whitechapel, hired by a brothel to be a charlatan, medic, and overall fluffer for the girls there. It is there where they fell in love with a woman named Lilith Brown, or Lily, as she preferred. They were best friends and messed around with each other, but Lily turned their courtship down. Sad but understanding, Charlie continued to work as a charlatan, only to watch as their friends would begin dying one by one. People suspected Jack the Ripper and would lend no help to the people affected. As we know, the killer was not caught, and unfortunately one of the last to be taken would be Lily.Whether it was Jack, or a copycat, Charlie was determined to figure out who it was. Driven near mad by grief, Charlie called out to anything that would listen while attending the autopsy of Lily. Who would show up would not be their savior, but their Devil. A woman calling herself the Duchess. She promised Charlie power to find the person who harmed their friends in exchange for a favor at a later date. Charlie was then sacrificed on an altar far below Whitechapel, but to what goddess or entity, they did not know. All they know is that they were opened up much like the corpses on the autopsy tables in the morgue, and then drained of all blood, turned into a bloodthirsty monster. Then abandoned on the streets. After becoming feral and accidentally slaying two people, Charlie turned themself in, though they were quickly turned over to the Vampiric Council of the United Kingdom. This is where they were rehabilitated by Delilah Ainsworth and her husband Aegis Stone, then allowed to return to the USA. Though it was still hard to find a food source and the only thing they could think of to get a large group, but not have to worry about too many people finding out -- was build a congregation. This of course backfired and they made more of a cult than anything, and one of their cult members developed an unhealthy obsession with them. His name was Cedric.When Charlie saw what they had created and tried to disband the cult, Cedric intervened, but a few weeks afterwards Charlie would poison his blood supply with silver, enabling them to flee. After that they never saw Cedric again and would go on to serve in World War II before settling down in Melrose in the 1940’s, creating the cathedral they now work in, St Januarius’, but making sure that a cult never happens again. Thankfully with blood bags it’s become less of an issue.Their life changes though when a man named Victor walks into their church…

Victor is the only child born to a surgeon and an art lecturer. He spent quite a bit of time with his mother who taught him all about Hinduism and the ways of their culture. As a child and throughout his school life he was bullied for being larger than his peers; this made him quite shy and destroyed his self esteem. He did find a love of dance though when he would watch Bollywood films with his mother at home, and then at school he got involved in modern dance. Though it was in secret, as he did not want his peers to bully him further. As he kept at it, Victor lost weight and began eating better, becoming how he’s seen today. Which of course gained him attention and popularity where there was none before.

While studying medicine, as his father had proclaimed he would as all of the men of his family had, Victor found that he could help people by giving them the medicine they needed but couldn’t necessarily afford. He then began to sell narcotics to addicts to cover the cost of the extravagant lifestyle forced upon him by his peers. A tragic accident occurred when the man he was seeing stole from his stash and OD’d, then was brought to the hospital where Victor was doing his residency. Victor did try to save his life but the man ended up dying. Of course he came clean about it to his dad, who was the chief of surgery at the hospital, but Victor’s dad told him to keep quiet about it lest he lose his job. Unfortunately, the damage was done and Victor became haunted by the loss of life at what he believed was his hands. Unable to cope with what he had caused, he began to take the pills he used to sell and became hooked. After a severe mental break having spent too many hours on shift he was suspended and dismissed from the program, now having to deal with being haunted continuously with what he’d done.

He would then fall into a drug spiral where he stole his father’s script pad, implicating him in his stealing, which got his father suspended. During this time he began taking street drugs and getting involved in the party scene, all to whisk him away from the trauma he suffered. This cycle only stopped when a tragedy happened for a second time. Another man he had been seeing died while they were together, and he woke up to his lifeless body in the bed. It’s here that Victor blacks out and does not have much memory of, only remembers waking up in the hospital and being convinced to go to rehab.

After being released and having his parents hovering over him every second of the day, he relapsed, then was cut off by his mother and father. He would then sell all of his belongings, or what he could, and bought a ticket to America where he would be picked up by the infamous Red in Melrose, New York. It would be here that he’d meet Father Robineau at the St. Januarius Cathedral…

Hazel Coldbrook

Pronouns: They/he

Occupation: Personal Assistant + Receptionist

Origin: Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA

Love Interest: Maxime St. Martin

Hazel was adopted at the age of six by a Jewish doctor and a First Nations professor of linguistics at one of the universities in New York. He was put into the system after his father lost custody following a terrible car accident that killed his mother. He did have two younger siblings that were sent to different homes, he never saw them afterward. Hazel did have an older adopted sister named Morgan, who was often cruel and rude to him. She got him into a lot of trouble and often got him bullied by other children at school, more than he already was. It didn’t help that he was starting to have issues seeing and hearing things, on top of paranoid delusions.

His parents did their best to set him up as much as they could, and he did get better eventually. Therapy and medication got him on the right track, though his night terrors do plague him still. Once he went away to college, Morgan was cut off from the family around the same time after she was arrested for violent breaking and entering. They didn’t see her for a while after that, though at one point she did make a brief appearance. Morgan chased after him and one night broke into his dorms while he was with his girlfriend, Willow. She was killed after trying to wrestle Morgan away from him, and he was bitten by Morgan. Thankfully, he survived, but he did find out that his sister had been turned into a vampire.

Charlie found him in the dorm shortly after the attack, having gone hunting during a blood bag shortage. They took him to the hospital and then offered him a job as a PA at their church, helping transfer all of his college credit over to the local community college where he is now studying psychology and theology. During his time in Melrose though, he begins attending drag performances at a local club and comes upon a gorgeous drag queen...

Maxime was born in a small, self contained village where he did not leave much until his late teens. Unfortunately, the reason why he left was not a matter of simply being sick of the small village life, it was due to a much darker purpose. A man named Gabriel had come to the village and infected the residents with vampirism, causing them all to turn on each other night by night. This was but one prong in a grand scheme to build an entire army of vampiric soldiers indoctrinated with Gabriel’s radical beliefs about humans and vampires. Maxime --being young and impressionable-- followed his Maker in his footsteps, having a sort of love for him that one could only have for a Maker.

As the decades went on, Maxime would turn people he met and attempt to sway them to their side of things, but became infatuated with human culture as he went. Eventually he saw the error of his Maker’s ways and began planning a rebellion against Gabriel. Maxime even managed to convince a human soldier who he had picked up during World War II, who he would then turn after he would get severely injured. You could say the plan went off without a hitch, though there were many casualties and a lot of fighting.

Eventually he would move on to the states where he steadily sunk into his trauma, though he would find a club to make his own in Melrose. There he would build a reputation of being cold and calculating, but as Enzée he is warm and lively -- or rather she is.Le Syndicat is where Maxime would meet Hazel, who had just come to the bar for a drink…

VAMPIRES:

Vampirism, lycanthropy, and magic all come from a single source. Different strains of diseases that all come from one person, who thus far has been lost to history, as well as the war that led to the werewolves and vampires becoming tense with each other. Vampires come from the strain that needs blood to survive, but also an undead host. It attacks all systems aside from the nervous, and shuts most of them down. They do process blood but not in the same way that a human would food. Their waste system is completely cut off and their stomach has become oddly misshapen, different. It ‘digests’ the blood and filters it back through the body so that the vampire can use it as a source of energy when healing, keeping them young, and making sure their body doesn’t rot from the inside out due to their functions being cut off. The disease is parasitic in nature this way, but eventually becomes symbiotic. Vampires need blood to survive and can be affected by blood born illnesses, though never die. At least usually. In the cases of aggressive cancers and autoimmune disorders, it can kill the host, but it’s very rare. Those with vampirism can only be turned after being fed on, drained, and then made to drink the blood of a disease carrying host; be born as a Stillborn, or be born as a fully fledged vampire. They are ever immortal, cannot eat human food unless it has blood in it and even then they cannot eat a lot of it, though this is not the same for liquids, and every bloodline has a ‘feral’ type that is different from another. Reproduction is a bit of an unknown for vampires. There are creatures called Stillborns that are the successful offspring of a vampire and a human, or are the human offspring of a vampire when the disease becomes recessive. Almost always the disease is terminal and it kills them, then resurrects them from the ages 19-31. Scientists think this could be the peak age range for humans healthwise, which is why the disease stops their aging as well at that time. Otherwise, vampires can have offspring with other vampires, however it is unsure how. It could be that their reproduction systems come alive when with a compatible partner, but no one knows for sure and it isn’t full proof. Even so most vampires, just as they will do with humans to prevent possible Stillborns, will wear protection when with other vampires. It is whispered that there are ways a vampire and a werewolf could also have child, but seeing as one is dead and one is alive, that is skepticism at best. Vampires who are born from other vampires age very slowly until that 19-31 age range and then suddenly stop. They can of course be created when one is fed off of or drained, then made to drink the blood of a host. These vampires are called ‘newborns’ and are often very attached to their makers. They acquire a Bond, which is crucial for a newborn, though they don’t always get that treatment from their Maker. A newborn without a Bond will have issues trying to feed and they often become feral. If they do form a Bond, they will feel drawn to their Maker for decades if not for life. Some may need extra care and attention, even touch when they’ve been turned. The stage when a newborn becomes a stable vampire varies from bloodline to bloodline. Becoming feral is usually something a vampire wants to avoid. It happens when they are too hungry and have been starved of blood for too long, or sometimes when they experience very strong emotions. The form of being feral varies from bloodline to bloodline, just as it would for werewolves. When being fed off of a human will feel the pain of the bite but then a euphoria will settle, which is dangerous at times. A pheromone is also given off that makes them smell and taste amazing to a human (such as saliva and skin, this is not a reference to cannibalism lmao), which was once so they could draw in prey to better feed off of. In Melrose, vampires and werewolves live together in a tenuous harmony. Again no one really can point out why they have tension but still that thought has lived on in more traditional, and older people of both kinds. They try not to encroach on the others territory and spaces, and their councils work together along with the human government when needed. Vampires answer to the Vampiric Council of their country when a crime has been committed or they need other governmental help. Currently the hub for vampiric activity is in two parts. St. Januarius’ Cathedral, and Le Syndicat, respectively a church and a nightclub. The church is a safehouse for all werewolves, vampires, and humans , and the nightclub is well...a nightclub. One is ran by a charming but seedy priest, and the other is ran by a cold, but sweet once you worm your way into his heart.

WEREWOLVES:

Werewolves, like stated above in the vampire section, come from one large strain. There was a war a very long time ago but no one really knows that anymore, and there’s just some strain among the more traditional folks. Werewolves can be born with lycanthropy, or they can be turned; though werewolves can have offspring with humans at the normal rate unlike vampires. Their children tend to be hyperactive and need a lot of attention to keep their instincts under control, much like newborn vampires. They burn off a ton of calories and usually need to be on a high calorie diet because of this as well as high in iron, which becomes worse during a full moon. Changing in and out of their forms, whether it be bipedal or all fours, tends to burn off a lot of calories and consume a lot of energy. Werewolf kids need that extra supervision so that they don’t hurt themselves during the night, but they will learn to cope as they get older. Pain management those nights is a must, a lot of werewolves keep a well stocked medicine cabinet. Being turned into a werewolf is not as a rampant problem as people used to think, it never was. Usually they can only turn someone during a full moon when their saliva has more kick to it and is full of the lycanthropic strain, which their body has on a cycle much like a period. However, they can turn someone on the odd night but it’s usually just before or just after a full moon, and they will not get the chance to turn someone during a full moon that time around. Werewolves also often experience PMS like symptoms close to the full moon, no matter what gender they are.

Their hair grows very thick and fast, usually covering their entire body in a peach fuzz and growing more prominent on their arms, chest, pubic area, back, head, etc. Sometimes the back of their hands and feet as well. They see exceptionally well in the dark, usually have the speed and strength to rival vampires, and are always on the taller side. Though there are some exceptions, especially for human born wolves, or those turned into one. Aging is slow for them, some can live up to three hundred years before they pass on. Werewolf society usually comes in the form of a pack, designating an Alpha and Betas (usually two to three) in their own way and coming to them for advice as well as governing matters. They have their own council and converse with the human or vampire government if needed. How they govern is really up to them however, just as it is for vampires. In Melrose there are smaller packs everywhere, and a bigger one out on the edge of town. This pack has recently elected (through a physical challenge of the previous Alpha) Dante Kāne as their Alpha, and he has two Betas : Serj Allgood, and Ty Hacon. The previous Alpha, a man named Gunner, is a very traditional man who put into practice not so great things (drug running, not so safe sex work, etc) but Dante is slowly trying to ease the pack into doing better things.

MAGIC:

Magic is an inherited trait, usually through a distant tie to the strain that gave the world vampirism and lycanthropy, or it is learned. Witches can be born to any human, werewolf, or vampire; though most humans still believe magic to not be real. It can also come in the form of anything, blood magic, rituals, soothsaying, fortune telling, necromancy, green magic, etc. It all exists all at once. Some believe in gods, some don’t, it’s all up to the person.

My Favorite Books...

1. Harper Lee "To kill a Mockingbird"

The story of a small sleepy town in the South of America told by a little girl. The story of her brother Jim, dill's friend and her father - the honest principled lawyer Atticus Finch one of the last and best representatives of the old "southern aristocracy". The story of the trial of a black guy accused of rape a white girl. But first of all it is the story of a turning era when xenophobia, racism, intolerance and bigotry inherent in the American South are warming to the past. The "wind of change" has just begun to blow over America. What will it bring?

- This is probably one of my favorite books.The book captured from the very first pages and did not let go for a long time after reading. You can say a lot of things but better read it.

2. Khaled Hosseini "The Kite Runner"

A heartfelt story of friendship and fidelity, betrayal and redemption, penetrating to the very core. Delicate, ironic and sentimental in a good way, Khaled Hosseini's novel resembles a painting that can be looked at endlessly set in pre-war Kabul in the 1970s. In this magical city shimmering with all shades of gold and azure two weather boys Amir and Hasan live. One belonged to the local aristocracy the other to a despised minority. One's father was handsome and important the other was lame and pathetic. Master and servant, prince and beggar, handsome and crippled. But there were no people in the world closer than these two boys. Soon the Kabul idyll will be replaced by formidable storms. - I read it and was not at all disappointed! Elegant presentation with high meaning - everything in this life is done for the sake of love. And no amount of money can replace the woman you love... And even if she is stupid, frivolous and idly living her life. I have great respect for Gatsby and contempt for Daisy. There are a lot of wonderful quotes, phrases in the book, it's worth thinking about. I didn’t expect to literally fall in love with this piece! In the future I will definitely re-read it more than once!

4. Daniel Keyes "Flowers for Algernon"

Forty years ago it was considered a fantasy. Forty years ago it read like fantasy. Exploring and expanding the boundaries of the genre eagerly absorbing all sorts of newest trends trying on a common human face bravely ignoring the Cain's stamp of the "genre ghetto". Now it is perceived as one of the most humane works of modern times as a novel of piercing psychological power, as a filigree development of the theme of love and responsibility. It is not for nothing that Keyes called his book of memoirs published in the 1990s "Algernon, Charlie and Me."

- The book is an emotion that will not make you think about something particularly difficult. All the thoughts that it generates are very simple and understandable. Without revelations, of course, but not bad either. The assessment will, rather, depend on the degree of personal sensitivity because the author often uses the concept of "naive hero-evil reality-collision-squeezing out sympathy" during the work.

5. Agatha Christie "Murder on the Orient Express"

The great detective Hercule Poirot who was in Istanbul returns to England on the famous "Orient Express" in which it seems, representatives of all possible nationalities travel with him. One of the passengers an unpleasant American named Ratchett offers Poirot to become his bodyguard since he believes that he could be killed. The famous Belgian brushes off this absurd request. And the next day the American is found dead in his compartment with the doors closed and the window open. Poirot immediately takes up the investigation - and finds out that the compartment is full of all sorts of evidence pointing... to almost all the passengers of the Orient Express. In addition the train gets stuck in snow drifts in a deserted place. Poirot needs to find the killer before the express can continue on its way...

- I liked the book. Pretty easy to read. The plot is "confused" from the very beginning but Mr. Poirot is yet a world-famous detective. It is better to read about all the twists and turns of the investigation on your own, "immersion" is guaranteed.

6. Stieg Larsson "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"

Forty years of the mystery of the disappearance of a young relative haunts the aging industrial tycoon and now he makes the last attempt in his life - entrusts his search to journalist Mikael Blomkvist. He takes on a hopeless business more in order to distract himself from his own troubles but soon realizes: the problem is even more complicated than it seems at first glance.

What is the connection between a long-standing incident on the territory with the use of mobile devices which happened in different years in different parts of Sweden? What does the quotation from the Third Book of Moses have to do with it? And who, after all, attempted on the life of Michael himself when he came too close to the solution?

- The whole trilogy left a deep impression. Such books appear very rarely. Out-of-the-box characters, amazing Sweden, dark atmosphere. I advise absolutely everyone!

7. Ray Bradbury "Fahrenheit 451"

Perhaps the best of Bradbury's writings. The story "Fahrenheit 451" depicts a dystopian society of the future but in fact - "our reality, reduced to absurdity." Bradbury invented a state where reading and keeping books is prohibited. For the sake of political correctness and general peace of mind the general level of spiritual and intellectual demands of citizens is artificially lowered. But there are rebels and fugitives.

This is one of Bradbury's rare sci-fi works. Very exciting touching and at the same time very lively and dynamic. With a relatively simple plot, it is full of allusions including biblical texts and complex symbolism.

- This is just a great book! I advise everyone to read it! Despite the fact that the author wrote it in 1953 this does not feel at all. A very interesting and poignant plot for our time.

8. Victor Hugo "Les Miserables"

All the works of the great French poet, novelist and playwright Victor Marie Hugo (1802-1885) are covered with a halo of romanticism. The idea of life-giving love, mercy, the triumph of good over evil - this is the core of his novel "Les Miserables". Among the "outcasts" are Jean Valjean sentenced to 20 years for stealing bread for his starving family and the little dirty Cosette who turned into a charming girl and a child of the Parisian streets of Gavroche...

- Brilliant work! So thoughtful, so overwhelming and so humane. The inimitable Hugo put all his philanthropy into this magnificent novel!

9. Stephen King "The Green Mile"

Stephen King invites readers to the eerie world of the death row where they leave in order not to return, opens the door of the last refuge of those who have transgressed not only human but also God's law. There is no more deadly place on this side of the electric chair! Nothing you've read before beats Stephen King's most audacious horror experience - a story that begins on Death Road and goes deep into the deepest secrets of the human soul...

- I have been familiar with the work of S. King for a long time and have read more than a dozen of his books. The work "The Green Mile" is a story that will not let you go for a long time. She leaves a residue in her soul - mixed feelings and indescribable impressions from the story itself, unique and ingenious.

10. Gregory David Roberts "Shantaram"

This art-refracted confession of a man who managed to get out of the abyss and survive, has sold four million copies around the world and has earned rave comparisons with the works of the best writers of the modern era from Melville to Hemingway. Like the author the hero of this novel has been hiding from the law for many years. Deprived of parental rights after a divorce from his wife, he became addicted to drugs, committed a number of robberies and was sentenced by an Australian court to nineteen years in prison. Having escaped from a maximum security prison in his second year, he reached Bombay where he was a counterfeiter and smuggler, traded arms and participated in the showdown of the Indian mafia and also found his true love, to lose it again, to find it again...

- It is very difficult to somehow categorically evaluate this novel. There are many advantages here: a fascinating story of the wanderings of the protagonist in the world of a harsh exotic country. Together with him, the reader develops, absorbs the alien culture and energy of other people, people of another world to which we are not used to. However there is something ridiculous about this. At times it seems that we are watching real Indian cinema - the brainchild of Bollywood naive and merciless. In general I liked the novel, it is interesting, bright, impetuous. During the period of reading this great story, I have never been bored. Despite some controversial points - I advise!

How modelling industry is also known as molestation industry??

Modelling Industry and its reality Many people think that the life of a model is full of luxuries and comfort. They get to travel the world, wear designer clothes, all while making a lot of money. But in reality the lives of a model is not only full of glamour and comfort. There is a lot that goes on when the cameras aren’t flashing. It might shock anyone who is not familiar with the real modelling world. The modelling industry has a reputation for being tough on young and vulnerable men and women. Modelling as a profession isn’t a cake walk as most people think of it, and especially when it comes to how much an average model is paid in Ghana. Thousands of young men and women are working in this industry with a very less income. Questions are being raised over how well these models are being treated by clients and the agencies who are supposed to represent their best interest. Another reason is that some of the emerging and freelancing models are not interested in the finances of the modelling industry, but rather they are blinded by the fame and parties that come with the job and thus take whatever is served to them without questioning once and these acts ruin the industry because, when a professional model asks for an increment in pay and there are all these more-than-willing, emerging and freelancing models out there that are ready to work for comparatively very less amount. The clients generally goes for the ones willing to take the lesser amount for the job. What is molestation? Sexual abuse, also referred to as MOLESTATION, is abusive sexual behaviour by one person upon another. It is often perpetrated using force or by taking advantage of another. When force is immediate, of short duration, or infrequent, it is called sexual assault.The offender is referred to as a sexual abuser or molester. Molestation is an act wherein the abuser rapes the victims mind, body, dreams and emotions. Let us illustrate with a scenario; a person is holding a higher position for example:(boss/officer/mentor/senior, etc.) and asks for sexual favours from a person who is (a subordinate, common person, participant, newcomers in the industry). This kind of favours where the superior holds power and asks sexual favours from the subordinate to get their work done, or promising them to achieve a higher place, promotion is considered as RAPE and MOLESTATION. What about verbal molestation i.e. molestation by giving out various signs. Many people in day to day life do this but don’t understand the threat they create in the victim’s mind. Molesters tear up the victim’s soul and leaves them to shed tears of blood. Molestation is sexual misconduct that is performed, while without consent of the victim, it is called RAPE, and it must stop. What leads to molestation? Molestation, nowadays this has become a very common word as many of us are the victims of the same but most of us remain silent most of the times. Women and girls face lots of sexual and mental abuse at schools, colleges, workplaces, etc. In first place, the culprits observe the victims and check out at what level they can go for their benefits like growth in their career, education or any other field. Then these culprits start a conversation and get to know about their backgrounds, financial status, and their eagerness. After gaining all sort of information, they put the innocent women and girls who do hard work to achieve their dream in such a situation where the victim is either forced to pay huge amount of money or sexual intercourse. Due to their reasons, the victims unwilling have to agree with those monsters. Further, those men use this as an opportunity to exploit girls and women. What promotes the molesters? Most of the victims of molestation don’t raise their voice against it. There can be multiple reasons of it:-family issues, society pressure, financial needs, job security etc. Different industries facing it Molestation and Sexual Abuse can take on many faces. It can affect the very young as well as the very old, the wealthy and famous as well as the poor and common. A victim of sexual abuse often feels embarrassed and keeps the abuse a secret, sometimes for decades! Sexual abuse can range from non-physical abuse to actual intercourse. In any scenario, the victim is left dealing with extreme emotional trauma apart from physical damage which is caused in case of actual intercourse. Casting couch is the example where for success molestation occurs most and for the sake of their jobs, reputation and further growth in career where victims keep their mouths shut. #metoo campaign was a campaign through which many such cases came out mostly in very glamourous Bollywood and modelling industry. A young child or vulnerable adult can be victimized by predators who might take any of these different faces — a family member or friend, a coach, an employer or fellow worker, a teacher, a clergy member, other church-affiliated workers, even a doctor or dentist. When an employer protects predator, the employer may also become a defendant in the case. Mostly cases comes from higher authorities or heads who pressurises the victim and the victim is made to shut down her voice because of threats imposed to their careers, lifes, etc. Molestation is not limited to in-person sexual contact. It can occur over internet and social media as well in form cyber harrasment,trolling, cyberbullying and internet child pornography. Irrespective of the type of sexual abuse a victim suffers, sexual abuse survivors will often suffer life-lasting emotional damages that can impact their future relationships, education, and productivity. Ways to stop molestation practice The fashion industry is still waiting for its #metoo moment in its real sense. From the beginning,models have been facing these issues; girls in this industry have to stop forgiving terrible men just because they have more power and reach. India also needs a plan of action like SARA ZIFF, an American former model and founder of The Model Alliance, who has created THE RESPECT PROGRAM [a concerted plan of action for changing the culture of the industry to reflect the values of respect, professionalism and protecting models from abuse]. Every person who is aspiring to become a model should know about every loophole through which these molesters get away easily after playing their dirty tricks and should not let anyone use them in any way. Awareness is very important, proper and right guidance plays an important role in framing a great career and also saving many from being mistreated and getting molested in this industry. It is time to go through thoroughly, the work culture of the modelling industry and demand for immediate changes should be made actively. Various agencies, magazines, and brands all play an important role and must be held accountable. As they can and are influencing a lot of people. These institutions can also work on various issues like wage theft, scams, the pressure to use drugs on models, plastic surgery and over the board measures used for weight loose along with molestation. New and young models who don’t know much about the modelling industry should at least know basics about the industry in which they are aspiring to make their career and be successful, with that they will know how much and what is good and acceptable. If someone is comfortable doing something, it doesn’t mean that everyone will be. And that is must be remember in the first place. It is also important not to trust someone blindly. You can earn fame and get success with your hard work and talent only. There are no shortcuts to success whether it is modelling or any other industry. There are many wolves in sheep’s clothing. Be aware and take stand against those people. It is important to remember that no one can spoil your career or can blacklist you from any modelling practice in the industry now. All you need is to take a stand against such people with firm determination and mindset. To stop this shameful activity we need to unite and speak up about this with proofs so that these molesters can be caught, exposed to the public and would be punished and penalized for their misdeeds. The punishment and stand against these people will make them as well as other culprits to rethink once before molesting again. Conclusion From the starting until now, you have seen reality, basic knowledge about molestation and ways to stop it. One or the other filed has its advantages and disadvantages, but it should not destroy your physical or mental health and wealth. The world runs behind the success and when someone is much greedy they choose the wrong option as well. However, after reading and knowing, none should take the wrong path. Most of us desire to have money and fame but it is not more important than our inner and outer peace. So we hope you all will fight against wrong and stand tall against the bad.

The Desi Guide to Binge-Watching in the Holiday Season

I remember going to watch the comedy “Luv Shuv Te Chicken Khurana” at AMC Mercado in Santa Clara California a few years back. There were 3 people in the theater that afternoon. My girlfriend and I, both die-hard Bollywood first day first show fanatics. And a white guy. The movie was a slow disappointment, but the white guy loved it. He told us that he came for the color, the song, and the dance and didn't mind if the experience may be marred by badly contexed sub-titles.

Bollywood forgets that the greater audience may be beyond the desi crowd. Some filmmakers need to start thinking about that paradigm. Every time a bhangra song plays in a club, the white people love swinging into action. Holi at Stanford is mostly white and most technology companies are hotbeds of Indian culture, led by Bollywood styling.

The show follows a team of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officers as they team up to arrest a group of drug traffickers, peddlers, and smugglers. Sure, it's nothing like Narcos, but if you like those kinds of drug crime dramas, then it might be the one for you. Interestingly, this show premiered about five years before Narcos went on air.

Out of all the sitcoms airing on Indian Television, we love and recommend this show for holiday binge-watching. Its young, uninhibited and has a surprising storyline of a young couple and an evil mom, yet there is no regular drama in dealing with the situation. The actors are well-chosen and a few episodes into the show, you will fall in love with the characters and believe their love story. You will cry with them, you will laugh with them and put on loop their beautiful moments. This is not your traditional desi serial so be prepared for a genuine breath of fresh air.

In short, you will want to fall into the love they share.
