au where instead of hiring Delia to be Lydia’s life coach, Charles hires Lizzie from DFD

Lizzie grew up with Drop Dead Fred, so she knows all about chaotic beings that only you can see. Granted, she might assume Beetlejuice is just Lydia’s imaginary friend at first, but at least she wouldn’t delegitimize her experience (especially if she learns about Barbara and Adam).

Note: in this au, Fred is still with Lizzie because I said so. Also, I am basing this on Beetlejuice: The Musical.

I feel like Fred would be able to see all of the ghosts, mostly because I think the shenanigans would be funny. But also, for a slightly more “logical” explanation, he’s an imaginary friend, so there’s no reason he would have to be constrained by the usual rules for seeing ghosts.

I’m undecided on if the ghosts can see Fred. On the one hand, very funny if they can’t but Fred is still able to mess with them. On the other hand, I think Barbara and Adam would be exasperated to have another chaotic entity bothering them, and Fred’s and Beetlejuice’s energy is so similar in my mind that I feel like there’s too much potential that would be left on the table if they can’t see him. My current solution to this would be to just have them not be able to see him at first, but eventually they are? I don’t have a logical explanation for this—I just want to have my cake and eat it too.

Can the girls see each other’s gremlins? I’m leaning towards a similar situation with the ghosts, although because both Lydia and Lizzie are able to see one or more entities no one else can (ghosts/demons and imaginary friends respectively), maybe they would both be able to see both entities right away? My current idea here is that Lydia can see Fred, but he kinda keeps out of her sight at first. Meanwhile, Lizzie can’t see Beetlejuice (or the other ghosts) until Lydia and/or Fred tell her about them.

so, just to recap:

Lydia = can see Fred from the start, but at first he mostly causes his mischief where she can’t see

Lizzie = cannot see the ghosts at first but is later able to

Fred = can see everyone from the start

The Ghosts (Beetlejuice, Barbara, Adam) = cannot see Fred at first but are later able to

Charles = cannot see Fred or the ghosts

Delia is just…not in the picture in this au. This is not a slight against her, she’s great, she just can’t be in the picture for this to work. I’m imagining Lizzie is around the same age she is at the end of Drop Dead Fred though, so she and Charles are not romantic with each other. (also bc I ship Lizzie x Fred. No I don’t take constructive criticism on this, but whether or not they’re romantic in this au can be up to your interpretation)

I feel like it makes the most sense if Charles and Lydia are already moved into the house (even if only briefly) before Charles hires Lizzie. That way Lydia can already be acquainted with the ghosts and then there can be shenanigans with her (likely with the ghosts’ help) trying to scare Lizzie off while Fred also causes his own mayhem.

Anyways yeah, that’s kinda all my ramblings on this au atm. Not sure what made this come to mind, I just randomly had the thought that Fred and Beetlejuice had the same vibes and my thoughts spiraled from there. Feel free to add your own thoughts if you have any, or ask me questions if you want to make me spiral further into insanity considering this.

DP x DC/ Drop Dead Fred AU

Trigger warning for child neglect/emotional abuse

Tim Drake had a lonely, cold childhood.

When his parents were home, they hardly seemed to notice him. When they were home.

More often then not they were off on digs leaving him at boarding school.Even at the school, he was mostly ignored by adults and children alike.

Was it any wonder he had an imaginary friend?

When Phantom started showing up, everyone noticed. It was difficult not to when a quiet child like Tim started constantly talking to thin air and pulling pranks on everyone. Pranks that no one can ever catch him setting up, but he’s always there when they go off.

But he always said that it wasn’t him. It was Phantom.

Eventually, the school had enough and expelled Tim. His parents are LIVID. No only do they have to come home early from the dig, but now, they have nowhere to send him the next time they leave.

In the end, they hire a nanny to watch over Tim in the Manor. But, the pranks continue and escalate. Everything from the classic frog-in-the-bed to the disgusting filling-the-shoes-with-dog-poo to the just plain weird and unexpected covered-the-floor-in-mayo-so-the-person-slides-across-the-floor-into-a-tub-full-of-old-pumpkin-guts.

They go through nanny after nanny before their newest employee figures out how to seal Phantom away.

Tim returns to the quiet, forgotten child that he was before. His parents find him a new boarding school and everything goes back to the way it was before.

Tim grows up. He finds out the identity of Batman. He trains to be Robin. His mother dies. His dad is paralyzed. He becomes Robin. His father died.

After his father’s funeral, Tim goes back to  Drake Manor. Eventually, he finds himself in his childhood bedroom. Among the knickknacks and toys he finds a small music box all covered in tape. He cuts through the tape, but, before he can open it, out pops a black and white blob.

The blob bounces around the room and grows larger and larger. When it finally comes to a stop, floating in front of him is a girl.

She opens her mouth and says “EWWW! What happened to you, fart breath?”

I want a Death Note Drop Dead Fred AU because I love the idea of ever-so successful serious Light Yagami suddenly having his childhood imaginary friend following him around, but I can't figure out if I want Ryuk or L to be Fred. On one hand, Ryuk fits Fred's personality and ties into the movie's theme of Let Yourself Be An Absolute Freak, but on the other,,, Lawlight banter.

I got bit by the Scooby-Doo bug and really wanted to make my own AU, which I'm calling "Groovy Scooby." I grew up watching Scooby-Doo and it's always been a big part of my life. Seeing other people make their own redesigns and AUs really got my gears turning. This took forever to make and I still need to work on the dogs and the Mystery Machine. I decided to go ahead and post the human characters at least, though.

Here's some fun facts from my AU:

Shaggy * Hates his hair cut due to a past traumatic experience. At this point, only Daphne is allowed to help tame his mop of hair. * Was diagnosed with diabetes as a child. He manages it well with a pump and service dog. *Into recreational drugs like marijuana to help ease his issues with anxiety. Overall a big advocate for mental health and hidden disabilities. *Believes gender is more of a construct and doesn't think clothing should be gatekept. Isn't shy to wear women's clothes. * Doesn't have a good relationship with his parents due to them sending him to boot-camp in order to "fix" him his gay tendencies years ago. * Knows how to operate most guns and even own ones the rest of the gang doesn't know about. However, he hopes never to use it because he's ironically anti-gun.

Daphne * Bimbo with a brain. Enjoys acting dumb for the attention but is very aware she looks good and knows how to use it to her advantage. * Makes money with her side-hustle of vlogging their van-life and making videos about true-crime. * Enjoys childish things like plushies and games, being a firm believer in the "cringe culture is dead" mentality. One of her favorite things to do is bring up Just Dance on Youtube and force the rest of the gang to dance with her. * Has been taking jiu jitsu since she was little but tends to forget it if panicked. Overall, very much enjoys fitness including jogging, yoga, and yeti tumbler collecting. * Generally goes with the flow, letting the gang make most decisions related to plans and activities. However, if she really wants something, she always gets her way. * Loves horror/thriller/slasher media, with her favorite being the classic Scream. Poor Shaggy cannot be in the same room when she's watching horror movies.

Velma * Loves to paint and draw. Overall a big arts and crafts hoe. * Refuses to shave. Will never apologize to insecure men. * The only one in the gang who graduated collage, which is in social sciences and history. Everyone else is a drop-out. * She is farsighted but usually wears her glasses all the time because she genuinely thinks she looks cute in them (she is correct) * Grew up as a token "tomboy" and now that she is an adult, she's really embarrassed by her inability to wear heels or apply makeup. However, Daphne is more then willing to help her out without making her feel dumb about it. * A terrible liar but great at asking inappropriate questions. Generally socially awkward.

Fred * Grew up in a conservative Christian household but after befriending the gang and having his world-view expanded, he no longer identifies with the religion. * Only one in the gang who genuinely loves sports. The gang tries to share his interests by going to games with him, but they don't share his enthusiasm. * His autistic superpower is knowing how to repair basically anything that's broken. However, cars is his specialty. * He's the token straight-ally character in a LGBTQ piece of media, but goddamn he's on thin-ice. * The most emotionally sensitive in the gang and not afraid to cry in public. However, the things he cries about could be something as simple as a very adorable cat photo he saw online. * He's emotionally very dependent on the gang and reverts into an NPC if separated from them. He feels very thankful he doesn't have to mask around his friends.

Azul - Ebenezer Scrooge

A cold-hearted businessman who cares only for profits and not the well-being of others.

Riddle - Jacob Marley

Azul's strict, now-dead business partner. The chains bind him in death the way his obsession with rules bound him in life, driving away everyone close to him. As a ghost, he comes to warn Azul the same will happen to him.

Ruggie - Bob Cratchit

A poor employee with a lot of mouths to feed at home. He's a hard worker and scrappy enough to make do with the meager amount Azul pays him, but his family struggles nonetheless.

Jack - Tiny Tim

I thought it'd be funny. Ruggie's morally upright but crippled son. He has a lot of energy and would love to run and play sports, but the family is unable to afford the medical care he needs. Nevertheless, he takes this in stride and always wishes the best for everyone.

Kalim - Fred

Azul's nephew, a jovial man who invites Azul to his parties every year but is turned down. He still believes the best of him.

Jade - Ghost of Christmas Past

A mild-mannered but relatively unsympathetic spirit who delights in psychoanalyzing scenes from Azul's past. "Fu fu... so that's why you're like this now, hmm?"

Rook - Ghost of Christmas Present

A rambunctious spirit who cheerfully drags Azul around to as many parties as possible while singing at the top of his lungs. Yet from time to time, he drops oddly deep and insightful comments.

Floyd - Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come

A creepy spirit who smiles eerily beneath a dark hood. Every ominous scene he drags Azul through makes him cackle the more freaked out the man seems, and he has a wild, excited look in his eyes when he pushes the man into his own grave to be buried alive.

Silver - Fan

Azul's older brother, Kalim's father. They all have similar hair colors. He was a serious but caring brother and taught Azul self-defense when he was bullied in his youth. He died young in his sleep, making Kalim a constant reminder of what Azul has lost.

Jamil - Belle

Azul was infatuated with Jamil in his younger years. However, Jamil felt Azul was too opportunistic and always had an angle behind every gesture, so he broke things off, leading Azul to believe that money was the only thing that would never betray him.

Lilia - Fezziwig

A merchant Azul apprenticed with for a time, who threw wonderful Christmas parties that were full of important figures like Malleus Draconia. Azul admired his connections, but quit apprenticing under him because he didn't understand the emphasis the man put on work-life balance, thinking he would make more profit working through the holidays.

Ortho - Charity Collector

A cheerful representative from the Styx Foundation, a charity for the poor. He is originally turned down by Azul, but is later offered a large donation after he sees the error of his ways. He tells Azul his brother will surely make a plaque for him in honor of his generosity.

All fine! Happy to share, and yes, this could be used for any pairing (or just platonic) but in my case this is a Charlos AU since they are the ones currently making me sad, Fred if I see you it is on sight

There are a lot of studies and analysis about what makes a mark a romantic or a platonic one and every single one has gotten to the conclusion that none really, the colors are simply a mark of soul compatibility in its way to look for companionship and intimacy; some even suggest than they have nothing to do with romance and actually the best couples are not soulmates. Absolutely bs if you ask Charles, how could your chosen one be someone who your soul doesn't yearn for? Call him romantic but he doesn't think he could love someone who his soul hasn't recognized as his.

Charlos jump the line of platonic and romantic like a rope across their years as teammates, Carlos has never been shy of touch so they always had contact but now they are so close it is impossible to denied that their souls are also close. Ferrari even makes a special livery for Monza one year in which Charles' car and suit are bright read with a yellow stain over his real mark and the side of the car, and Carlos' is yellow with a red mark over his shoulder and halo (so much merch it was sold, ridiculous, Charles doesn't know how to feel about people wandering around with red shirts with a yellow mark but Carlos says is cute si he'll let it go for now)

Everything breaks when Lewis Ferrari announcement, and Charles feels literally his soul bleed and then his heart breaks when he talks with Carlos on the phone and feels his complete devastation after this treason from Ferrari (Honestly Charles agrees, it is treason as well TO HIM, Lewis is nice and all but he is not his soulmate, he is not Charles'). The beginning of the season is torture, living every day like a countdown and to be fair, Carlos' gets over it quicker than Charles and will chat his ear off about contract negotiations and teams plans for the future and planning little dates for them in the next years because "I'm just moving down the paddock, I am not dead Sharls" but Charles is in agony and just wants to cuddle with his soulmate without talking about THAT. Everyone can see they gotten even closer through this and Charles doesn't even know anymore, does everyone want to kiss their soulmates stupid face after a near death experience? It is really licit to want to climb your soulmate like a tree when he shows up with the ugliest mustache ever seen? Charles is just aware enough to not act on his instincts and drop to his knees in front of Carlos (and the whole world tbh) after his Monaco win and asking him for a bj or his hand in marriage, he doesn't know.

But his breaking point (bc Charles is a little dense but not THAT dense) is after Carlos informes him that he has signed with Williams (just before a break, rude) and after the vacation he shows up in the paddock with a soft lavender mark up caressing the inside of his wrist and forearm and stories of Alex not only being his future teammate but also his new neighbor and Charles absolutely RED 🫣🫣🫣🫣

And then Lewis to Ferrari, and of course Charles would realize at that moment. At the prospect of being away from Carlos, he wants him so so bad. He can't take the separation (god, those early videos when Charles couldn't even talk about it and seemed so distraught every time the subject was brought on).

And then seeing Alex' mark on Carlos?? Seeing the future teammate mark his soulmate?? What if he replaces Charles?? That's not possible in Charles' mind.

Please please please tell me what's happening next?? What crazy thing Charles will do?? I NEED TO KNOW

(I kinda think Charles would ask something stupid, like offering a bj to Carlos or something like that instead of asking to date like a normal person)

(Also also, in my mind, it feels like Carlos has been in love with Charles since day one, but he just feels like nothing can happen and he just indulges in Charles' presence, enjoys their moment together but doesn't ask for more because he can never have more)

Scumbag Monthly ✨

Scumbag Monthly was a free online fanzine for The Young Ones (and sometimes adjacent media) produced by fans between 2020-2023. From Issue #4 (1.6.20), I was its editor.

Twenty-five regular zines were produced, as well as several specials. SM featured fanart, fanfic, memes, puzzles, competitions, pages "made by" the characters, occasional thought pieces, and other miscellaneous bits and bobs.

Fight Club ‘Drop Dead Fred’ AU where the narrator still begins to hallucinate Tyler but either Marla or his father become aware of it sooner and take him for a psychological analysis where they give him the pills (that they give Elizabeth in the movie) so that Tyler slowly starts to become weaker and tells the narrator to stop taking them.

Telling him that he needs him and he’s really hurting himself and giving up on trying to hit bottom. The narrator keeps taking the pills, trying to ignore him, until Tyler is a shell of his former self. When he takes the last pill, he is stood over Tyler and Tyler finally drops his excuses and tells the narrator that he loves him and doesn’t want to leave him. They need each other.

Against his better judgement and feeling guilt ridden about all of the lives that he and Tyler have affected with Project Mayhem (especially Marla), he takes the pill and watches Tyler fade away. Dropping to his knees and realising what he has just done, he begins to sob, feeling like a part of him has died

Pairing: Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy Rating: E This 8th year fic is the BEST sex-pollen trope story I’ve ever read. Period. Tepre is a genius with sexual tension.

Pairing: Harry Potter/George Weasley Rating: M This is the fic that I REFUSE TO SHUT UP ABOUT (sorry if you’ve been caught in the crosshairs.) George is trying out a new line for XXX products at the joke shop. Harry is George’s go-to for product testing. Pairing: Harry Potter/Ron Weasley Rating: E This Deathly Hallows AU explores the posibility of Ron returning back to the tent that night in the Forest of Dean.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read and reread this. I’m obessed with this friends to lovers pairing, this vulnerable and delicious fic.  One of the best Ronarry I’ve ever read.

Pairing: Horace Slughorn/Regulus Black, Horace Slughorn/Sirius Black Rating: E IT’S A DEAD DOVE, FOLKS! But it is so creepy and beautiful. I CANNOT stop thinking about it. Imagine if this were canon, Slughorns obession with Harry would be THAT MUCH CREEPIER. 

7. Hate, Lead the Way! by oh_black_sparrow

Pairing: Walburga Black/Orion Black Rating: E One of the Rare Pair fest 2022 stories I fell head-over-heels in love with. We know her as the shrewish shrieking portrait permanently stuck to the wall in 12 Grimmauld Place, but in this rage-filled story, she’s a force to be reckoned with.

Pairing: Lucius Malfoy/Hermione Granger Rating: E HEAR ME OUT. I don’t normally go for this pairing, but THIS FIC is deliciously sinister. A masterclass in gaslighting and manipulation. A breeding kink extravaganza. Crack at its finest. Give it a chance, I promise you won’t regret it. Mostly.

Dual POV, Friends to Lovers, flirting, pining and no small amount of filthy content. The epilogue chapter (bonus smut) is to die for. It will forever reside in my wank bank.
