I finished dragon quest v (on dragon quest day no less😁)

Spoilers ahead! (And if you plan on playing this game i wouldn't read any further lol)

Usually im quite the contrarion but honestly i can agree with anyone who says that 5 is the best game in the series, its the most emotional, has the highest stakes, definitely the most fun, etc.

While the game took me almost 63 hours to finish it sure as hell didnt feel like 63 hours (except for my massive casino grinds they felt and were long but thats my own fault)

The story of this game is so gripping, I barely knew anything going in except for pankraz dying and and i only knew that he died but no context... and him laying there and being killed just to save his son was hard to watch. Spending the rest of the game being reminded of pankraz every now and again was touching and everyone telling you that you need to save your mother only to have her be killed in front of you after you meet her once and barely get to speak to her was so chilling... Ladja and nimzo are 2 of the if not the most gruesome and heartless villians in dragon quest.

One moment i really want to mention is my entry to gotha, i knew that thats where i was headed but the in-game time was that sorta early morning moment where everything sorta has this dim blue light to it and it was really touching to me... the dawn of a new day and the rise of a new king of gotha

It sorta shocked me in the end that the player wasnt the legendary hero... but it was his son. You find that out when you cant wield the zenithian sword but it left me asking if the player was the hero but was too young to wear/use the zenithian gear and all i wanted was to use the zenithian gear like in 4 and 6... but no, your son is the hero. Which was cool to say the least! It was different to not be the hero and cool i think

Keeping nimzo a secret until the end and then his transformation and hard boss fight was awesome and i think it was one of my favourite final boss fights

South Park x Dragon Quest - Eric Cartman as Booga

Since Eric Cartman reminds me of Booga and vise-versa especially considering that they are both fat, manipulative, sadistic and aggressive (although Cartman isn't that ugly and he is more of an anti-hero than a villain), I drew him as Booga, one of the Spectral Sentinels from Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. Pretty fitting for him if I do say so myself. I even added a green and light green shirt, dark green shoes and fake horns and tail.

This is also made for the 37th anniversary of Dragon Quest, which is tomorrow. I hope you like it.

Happy Dragon Quest Day!

It is the 37th anniversary of Dragon Quest in Japan now.

As a fan of both RPGs and the unique and expressive art style of Akira Toriyama, Dragon Quest holds a lot of high appeal for me. Though often overshadowed by Square Enix's more popular IPs, Dragon Quest stands out for its paving influence on the genre and, proudly and unashamedly, sticking to its core roots even 37 years later.

I admit that I haven't played that many in the franchise, but Dragon Quest 8 and 11 still stick out as my top favorites and are my go-to recommendations for new players.

Is Harding all right? I don't want to say that she's scaring me more than usual, but… she is. Rook, could you check on Harding? She's doing that… terrifyingly cheery thing she does. I'm getting a little worried about Harding, Rook. Maybe see what's going on with her, would you?

Lucanis

Rook, you realize Lucanis had eleven cups of coffee today? Maybe… see if he's still alive? Lucanis looks broodier than usual. Maybe you should check in on him. You should always keep an eye on the broody ones, Rook. By which I mean Lucanis. He's starting to worry me.

Neve

Hey, is something up with Neve? Maybe you should check on her. Okay, so Neve hasn't left her room in… I don't know how long. See if she's trapped under something heavy. Is it just me, or does Neve seem preoccupied? Worse than usual, I mean.

Taash

Do you smell smoke, Rook? Maybe you should go… check on Taash. So… I heard what sounded like Taash beating the shit out of something. Maybe see what's up? There were a lot of… punching sounds coming from Taash's direction. You might want to see if there's casualties.

i will never get over how genuinely fucked the tranquil are consistently treated throughout the dragon age games. like i know it's the Point. but. holy fuck.

the way they're treated as "not-quite-people", the way they're constantly put to the side, ignored, abused, and exploited for profit, the way they're killed over and over, especially in inquisiton, and the way it feels so brushed over. and it never really feels like the player reaction is Enough for what is going on in any situation surrounding them.
