Dragon 212 (December, 1994). “The Better Part of Valor,” by Len Dorschied. This is a cool one, lot of narrative richness. The trashed inn and the imminence of violence hearkens back to similarly themed paintings in the magazine’s golden age in the mid to late 80s.
