Okay, small thing but I was really surprised to see how involved the dragonkeepers were in the whole claiming part with Steffon by speaking High Valyrian to Seasmoke and keeping him from attacking. I imagined while reading the book (and while writing my fic) that the dragonkeepers just took them to where the dragons were and said "Try not die loser"

I wonder if dragons are actually better at understanding common than high valyrian HEAR ME OUT
They always go on about how the strongest bond between a dragon and it's rider was aegon and sunfyre. We find out just how shit aegon is at high valyrian BUT aegon and sunfyre are still tight, sunfyre fully gets aegon's intentions and commands in common
SO I put to you the hilarity that the dragon rider valyrians just decided theirs was the dragon language that was most understood by these feirce creatures, no experimentation or further research needed. Even after the doom and the targaryens moving to dragonstone, not once did they think to try something else. They hired valyrian speaking dragon tamers, studied the dying language, and trained their dragons using it, coz it's the Special Language that makes dragon riding unique and exclusive.
Only, the dragons don't give a flying fuck about high valyrian. They just humour their lil pet humans with it coz it's funny watching them put all this effort in.

Avatar of Growth (Magic the Gathering) by Grzegorz Rutkowski, 2018:
propaganda: I love the way the scale is shown here, not only with the trees, but also with the birds, and the way the light touches mostly the upper part of their body while the lower part is in shadow.
Farewell (Dragon keeper the animated movie) by Marcin Jakubowski, 2021:
propaganda: I really liked the books as a kid

what do the dragon keepers think those sticks will do if seasmoke goes nuts? do we think it's just to make themselves look bigger?
or do they roast marshmallows on those things or something?

make like. a series of posts that are like. dk's notes on breeds of dragons
like. most of them would be from dragonvale cuz i lobe dragonvale <3 but like. priority would be already existing dragons in the ninjago series, then epic battle fantasy (i love those games fite me), and THEN dragonvale but like. dragonvale also has like a wonderful sorting system that i'd be drawing from? obv id also be putting in-game stats below a read more and lore would be adjusted to fit ninjago and image credits would be given but like. would anyone. actually. be interested in that? cuz it sounds fun but idk. id also probably like... i have a design for the books in mind they're like fucking encyclopedia-sized but maybe like. if i could get ahold of adventure-esque notebooks that are like. the covers look like leather, kinda yellowed pages? y'know what im talking about? maybe i could do a physical version. id need a lot of pens tho. but it seems fun, and obv the physical version would be like- dk's observations n shit. it'd have lore of their dead lover (if i can figure out what the fuck i named him i wrote it down somewhere) and it'd be like. id make an entire writing system and write the notes in that
it's a lot of work but honestly sounds like fun, first things first would be research ofc but like. would anyone be interested or am i just fucking high off sleep deprivation or some shit

Ok so now on to the Rain Wild Chronicles! I’ve heard mixed things about it, but I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts on this series is. I’m going to still read them regardless, but I just wanna know what y’all’s thoughts are :)

Sedric and Hest are a brilliantly written exploration of that kind of abusive relationship that is so subtly hidden by the guilty party that the victim sees the abuse as love. There is definitely something to be said for the way their queerness interacts with and amplifies this as well, I'm honestly surprised at how well Robin Hobb wrote their relationship. I'm so excited to watch Sedric come to terms with the truth of Hest's treatment.

finished the Rain Wilds Chronicles and have many thoughts.
I saw online that a lot of people didn’t enjoy them as much as Robin Hobb’s other books, and I can’t say anything on that because I just picked this up at a bookstore and went for it (oops) so definitely read out of order, but I really enjoyed it anyway. The important relationships were fleshed out pretty well, the first two books and the river journey was a little unnecessarily long, but most of it was important for character development and world building, I liked the way the series ended a lot, and I enjoyed the fact that the dragons and their attitudes, especially Sintara’s, weren’t “fixed”. The keepers didn’t turn them morally good, as would have been the case in many other series.
Idk. Brain going crazy, and I enjoyed the series :)
