Bloated, rotten, and vile, these endlessly burning creatures and their intense loyalty to their master will stop at nothing to capture the four kappa, not even with two pissed off dads and their extended family who are just as relentless when it comes to protecting those that they love.

Seen plenty of fics and art of Irida winding up in the modern day (even pokemon masters did that), but what about you're own view of how that'd go? Or barring that, a version of her winding up there and things not exactly going well at first? Like not /violently/ horrible or anything like that, but just not well.

Well, I already have a version of it with the Subway Boss Irida AU. But if you want a version of Irida in the future where things end up, uh, not well, I do have an AU I have only talked about on Discord.

The premise of this AU starts with the fact that all the Zekroms out there used by trainers (few as they are) are just fragments of the original, Ingo/Zekrom, who always stays in Gear Station. Until the eeby deeby, that is.

So, when Ingo is yeeted, all the fragments of Zekrom vanish, no matter if they're in pokeballs, PCs or roaming around. This happens because the link with the original and main one is severed.

Years later, there are rumors about a trainer with a Zekrom, so it catches the attention of a lot of people, especially those from Unova and particularly Emmet. And Team Plasma. Yikes.

Irida originally lands in Johto, where she crafts a custom pokeball for Ingo/Zekrom since it just isn't doable to walk around everywhere when Ingo's dragon form is so big. She doesn't understand what happened, nor where or when she is, but she's very cagey about Ingo's situation with others. People don't realize it's Zekrom at first because they weren't expecting the legendary there of all places after vanishing for years, which helps.

Ingo is very protective of Irida as well, especially since she's stranded in the future and he's stuck in his pokemon form (for now). Poor guy doesn't remember how to detransform. Not that he knew he could turn into a giant dragon either. He forgor.

But eventually they end up in Team Plasma's radar, hoping to use Zekrom for their new plan to take over Unova. They're being hunted down. Oop.

Expedition Pilgrims

Sha Wujing (435cm): His outfit is mostly inspired by Mongolian clothes since he's found in the Gobi desert stretch of the journey. His bangles are made of fossil bone, and he can use the waist cloth as a headwrap during adverse weather. His markings are inspired by African Lungfish and Mudfish fins, as they are species that exist somewhere between water and dry air. The beasts on his knees are an extension of him, and he can see and speak through them as needed. His beard and long hair can have Ghibli physics depending on his mood and emotions. Zhu Wuneng (~300cm): Inspired by Northern Tibetan clothes, as that's the region the group recruits him. Traditional clothes tend to have way more accessories and golden details so I had to simplify a bit. His features are a mix of wild boars and Indonesian babirusa, with the iconic bristles on his head. I leaned on ceremonial Tibetan swords and necklace beads for the decorations on his rake. His vest can be closed, he just prefers not to most of the time. Sun Wukong (125cm): I've already commented on his design over here, but I'll elaborate that the yellow shirt is the one he gained from Tripitaka soon after he was released, while the pants and red half-robe were the garments he was given by Guan Yin. The hoops on his feet and purple beads were reacquired back in Huaguoshan when he first fled the pilgrimage, heading to his family instead of Ao Guang's palace. (A-ma and Jinju gave them to him so he'll always have something to home to remember them by, as well as where he first started, as the beads were gained during his lessons with Subodhi.) Tripitaka (163cm): This is but one of his many outfits since travel can be rough on clothes, and even more so when you get kidnapped by demons and thrown off your horse all the time. He wears the usual orange monk robes, with some kind of travel clothes over them. He gains some fur boots from Boquin for cold weather but usually prefers sandals most of the time. He seldom uses the cassock and crown he received from Guan Yin, save for when he pays respects to temples and holy sites, but the staff is a constant companion. Ao Lie (167cm, 130cm at the shoulder as horse): Being effectively in exile until the journey is complete, he wears less fancy clothes than he usually would as a prince, but his status still shows. I tried to balance more casual hanfu of the era with some armor parts, like the waist guard and armored boots. He was given the skill to shapeshift into a horse by Guan Yin when she commanded him to wait for the chosen pilgrim monk, so he can shift at will, but preferably when the tack has been taken off. Speaking of, tack is lost and replaced multiple times during the journey, so I didn't depict any specific one.

There are four families attached to the Dragon Clan.

West Dragon Family

East Dragon Family

North Dragon Family

South Dragon Family

West + East Families

The Dragon Families were originally worshipped by mortals. However, as society evolved, many gave up the tradition.

The City of Megaprolis is in the middle between the West and East Families territories. Originally, when the city was a mere village, the villager worshipped and gave offerings to both families. But, as the population grew, so did the disconnection to the Dragon Clan.

The Dragon King of the West, insulted by their ignorance, attacked the blossoming village in an attempt to scare the villagers back into worship. However, the Lady Ivory sealed the Dragon King away. The East Family took a different approach to their lost of worshippers, instead conforming to their society.

While this strategy didn't regain their worship, they gained great respect from the villagers and became a prominent family in Megaprolis that still thrives to this day.

South + North Families

Lantern City fell into the territories of North and South families. Unlike the city of Megaprolis, Lantern City never gave up the tradition of worship of the Dragon Families. Large festivals are hosted at the beginning of winter and summer.

cleaned up my designs for the dragon!leaders au a bit! I think Irida is quick on her feet, slippery and otter-like, whereas Adaman is a lot more wolfish. Still thinking about what animals I’d use as a base for the legendaries, especially giratina.

Also, because the idea has completely taken over my life, there might be a fic for this coming out later this month. I’ll have other work to stay focused on too, but you never know :)

... Something Wano-related? For the parallels with Shiki's Japanese background. Although I have no idea what happens in the Wano arc, so we'll have to put a pin in that for now.
