So Dorian says in Tevinter Nights that someone he met down south convinced him that slavery was an awful practice and he started hiring servants rather than using slave labour. It's kind of implied that that's the Inquisitor but I have another thought. The Inquisitor can have like one kinda weak conversation with Dorian in the game where you can't even really challenge him directly. Maybe stuff happens offscreen, sure, bioware like doing that. But do you know who does have several harsh conversations with Dorian about slavery? Solas. Solas is the one who repeatedly calls out the abuses of Tevinter when he's talking to Dorian and never lets the issue of slavery go. That banter thread ends with Solas saying that if Dorian truly feels bad for what his country has done then he should go home and work to free every slave in the Imperium. Dorian, sounding rather shamed, says he doesn't know if he can.

"Then how sorry are you?"

after veilguard, the briala and solas parallels are making me rattle the bars of my cage

briala being in the service of celene, a ruler who used her as a weapon to further her power, like solas with mythal

briala primarily using her wits and sneakiness to overcome the power imbalance with her enemies

gaspard being genuinely scared of her because of her wits, calling her dangerous, the way evanuris are scared of solas

briala discovering that her blind loyalty to her empress is a weakness and recommits herself to the elves above all else, as solas did with his rebellion against mythal and evanuris

felassan accompanying briala as he did solas and giving advice. felassan encouraging her to think more like fen’harel !!

briala listening to him and gaining control of the eluvian network through trickery and turning two sides of the war against each other just like solas with the crossroads

felassan refusing to give briala’s eluvian network back to solas because her cause is so similar that he, an ancient elf, sympathizes !!

felassan saying “she reminds me of you” before solas kills him!!!

solas later gaining respect for briala after getting the eluvians back from her control!!!!

guys i will never get over the fact that lavellan speaks in iambic pentameter when talking about solas to rook. and then she stuns us again by speaking TO solas in iambic pentameter in the atonement ending.

remember in inquisition when solas says to sera in a banter:

“sometimes our people can feel the rhythm of the language, without knowing what the words mean(?)”

and i fully believe lavellan is one of them. even elgar’nan and ghilan’nain forego the iambic pentameter in veilguard, because they have lost themselves due to the blight. they speak in IP during the regret murals, so we know they used to be able to.

there is hardly anyone left who understands the language. truly understands. not repeating words passed down through generations.

lavellan understands solas. and that’s all he ever wanted. for someone to understand him. see him as wisdom.

when she talks to him in elvhen, her words aren’t the only things that ring true. the way she says them in IP truly conveys lavellan’s love for solas.

I've finally finished my Dread Wolf tarot embroidery from Dragon Age Inquisition! Clocking in at 64 hours of work, it measures 11.5 X 19.5 cm and I've been chipping away it during my downtime at work. My fellow community council members on Dragon Age: The Veilguard may have been biased while helping me choose which character's card to do, but I'm so grateful they did because it was so much fun to work on, and so different from the previous ones.

This is my fourth large Dragon Age character card project, and the first one I started since I uprooted everything to train as a costumer. Having a portable yet elaborate project was comforting while travelling for new experiences.

Now, who's excited for the new game later this year?!

Solas: the Inquisitor made me run around the Hinterlands for a month. It’s only fair you experience even but a shred of that pain for ruining my ritual
