My neighbor just leaned across the 50ft-drop gap between our apartment balconies to hand me a 6-pack of Shiner as a bribe to finish watching Red White & Royal Blue with him and his British boyfriend (“you don’t understand - it’s ABOUT THE TWO OF US!!”), and I think snapshots of time like this are probably the meaning of life

Views of Lady Bird Lake, Longhorn Dam, and the Colorado River
flickr
Views of Lady Bird Lake, Longhorn Dam, and the Colorado River by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While on a flight out of Austin as I was headed up to Washington Dulles Airport one Friday afternoon. The view is generally looking to the west with the Colorado River in the image center from bottom up to the airplane wing. I angled my Nikon Z8 camera slightly downward, bringing the horizon higher into the image and minimizing the overcast skies. I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLab 7. I then exported a TIFF image to Nik Color Efex Pro 7 where I added a Polarization and Pro Contrast filter for that last effect on the image captured.

Ahhhh--one thing in Austin that I forgot! On the Blanton Museum of Art campus is a small building, simply named “Austin.” Designed by Ellsworth Kelly and finished a few years after his death, it’s a small sanctuary that takes inspiration from the Romanesque cathedrals he would sketch when he was in Europe during WWII.
On a sunny day like the one I was lucky to have, when you walk inside you are bathed in the glow of the stained-glass windows on three of the main walls, while you confront a tall, redwood totem directly in front of you. I was most looking forward to seeing this work out of everything at the Blanton, and it definitely met my expectations. I absolutely recommend making a visit to the museum as a whole but especially this particular work if you happen to be in downtown Austin.
