Screen goddess from Hollywood's Golden Age, Ms. Dorothy Lamour, shown in this 1934 studio still wearing one of her favorite pieces of jewelry, a platinum and diamonds wrist watch. A native of New Orleans, Lamour was asked about the "it" factor in Hollywood starlets. She replied "Glamor is just sex that got civilized."

Macabre Month 5 Part I: Creepshow 2 (1987)
In today's review, I kick off the spooky month with (count 'em) three tall tales of terror. As I attempt a #positive review of the 1987 horror anthology Creepshow 2 #JoeHill #TomAtkins #TomSavini #LoisChiles #GeorgeKennedy #DorothyLamour
Horror anthologies have been a beloved staple for any fans of the genre, a chance for some classic chillers, in a condensed form, perfect for letting the imagination flow. In 1987, Tom Savini, Stephen King, and George Romero, three names that even the most passing fan of horror would recognise and revere, combined the efforts to tell three more compact collections of spooky goings-on, in…

Road To Bali (1952) - Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and  Dorothy Lamour   I recently watched The Road To Eldorado recently and decided to watch some of the Hope/Crosby Road pictures that inspired it. Road To Bali fell into the public domain so it’s watchable on Prime Video and YouTube. There’s currently a copy of Road To Rio on YouTube that was posted in 2016. How long it lasts there is anyone’s guess. I have them all on DVD but didn’t feel like digging for them. The first four are currently owned by Universal so may or may not end up on Peacock. These movies are comedies, adventure films and musicals. There is singing and dancing in all of them. And really, these Paramount musicals from the 30s and 40s, along with the Busby Burkley musicals from the same era, are really the only musicals I want to watch. Star Spangled Rhythm that is a Double Feature DVD with My Favorite Blonde, is a SUPER fun musical. “A Sweater, A Sarong, And A Peek-A-Boo Bang” is hilarious.   In this one Bob Hope fights an Octopus and an Alligator.    This is a Hollywood movie that recreates the Hollywood version of Bali and other South Pacific locations and exploits/celebrates the culture of “exotic” places. And that sort of thing probably won’t be enjoyed by everyone.    Road to Singapore (1940) Road to Zanzibar (1941) Road to Morocco (1942) Road to Utopia (1946) Road to Rio (1947) Road to Bali (1952) The Road to Hong Kong (1962)     #bobhope #bingcrosby #bobhopeandbingcrosby #dorothylamour #roadpictures #roadmovies #roadto #roadtoeldorado #roadtobali #roadtorio #roadtozanzibar #roadtomorocco #roadtozanzibar #roadtosingapore #roadtomorocco #roadtohongkong #paramountmusicals #musicals #singinganddancing #alligators #gators #octopus #cephalopods #cephalopds #junglemovies #southpacific  #asweaterasarongandapeekaboobang (at Portland, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-03ChsBeo_/?igshid=1gbsfctxkmavj

Yvonne De Carlo (born Margaret Yvonne Middleton; September 1, 1922 – January 8, 2007) was a #Canadian-American #actress, #dancer, and #singer. A brunette with blue-grey eyes, she became an internationally famous #Hollywood #film star in the #1940s and #1950s, made several recordings, and later acted on #television and stage. Born in #Vancouver, British Columbia, De Carlo was raised in the home of her Presbyterian maternal grandparents. Her mother enrolled her in a local dance school when she was three. By the early 1940s, she and her mother had moved to Los Angeles, where De Carlo participated in beauty contests and worked as a dancer in nightclubs. In 1942, she signed a three-year contract with #ParamountPictures, where she was given uncredited bit parts in important #films and was intended to replace #DorothyLamour. Paramount loaned her out to Republic Pictures for her first credited role in a feature film, Wah-Tah in the independent production Deerslayer (1943). She obtained her breakthrough role in #Salome, Where She Danced (1945), a #UniversalPictures release produced by #WalterWanger, who described her as "the most beautiful girl in the world." #YvonneDeCarlo received further recognition as an actress for her work in the British comedies Hotel Sahara (1951) and The Captain's Paradise (1953). Her career reached its peak when eminent producer-director #CecilBDeMille cast her as Moses' Midianite wife, Sephora, her most prominent role, in his biblical epic #TheTenCommandments (1956), which was immensely successful at the box office and remains an annual tradition on television. Her success continued with starring roles in Flame of the Islands (1956), Death of a Scoundrel (1956), Band of Angels (1957), and The Sword and the Cross (1958), in which she portrayed Mary Magdalene. She also accepted supporting roles in McLintock! (1963) and A Global Affair (1964) #blackandwhitephoto #colorized by @mydigitalartwork #mydigitalartwork #colorizedphoto #colorizedpicture #silverscreen https://www.instagram.com/p/BsG3PYmnZrY/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1cr4caag99r69
