An appreciation post for 3 Will Be Free.
It had the Jojo as the director.
It had a composer, Yim Tirit Jitjang.
It had a poly plot.
It had a trans character with a dedicated plot.
It had an elite cast.
Everyone, including people we cared about, died, yet it didn't bury the gays.
It had TWO cinematographers: Pongthorn Thongwattana (55:15 Never Too Late, Cupid's Last Wish, Mama Gogo) and Rath Roongrueangtantisook (He's Coming To Me, A Tale of Thousand Stars, Mama Gogo), which shows.
Did I mention the poly plot?
Because it had it!
Sprinkle a little respect on this show for doing the most in 2019 when it did not need to.
#3 will be free#this is my comfort watch#if I loved it less I might be able to talk about it more#miw x shin x neo#Shin and Vegas understand how to grieve a father who never loved them only what they could do for him#Miw never hesitated to protect herself or her boyfriends#Neo told Miw and Shin that he loved them with his full chest#I'll fight people about this show and their unborn kiddos#Don't ask how many times I've rewatched it#That number is between me and a priest#Just like my other magic number#You'd view me differently if you knew either

Analyzing the music of KPTS: The table scene in episode 4
Hello there! So, I was watching the latest episode of My Stand-In and I had the pleasant surprise of hearing a very familiar piece of music by the end of it:
Most people probably won't recognize it, but it was used in KinnPorsche The Series as well, specifically at the infamous table scene in episode 4. Even more specifically, during the moment that Vegas asks Porsche to become his bodyguard and Kinn gets upset with him. It starts when Vegas says "So I have time... to look around" and ends when Tankhun hits him with the tray.
Now, the use of music in TV shows and movies is a very big passion of mine and I've always wanted to analyze it, as posted here. Well, even though I said it's impossible, I'll try it, because it's both a fascinating choice for the scene on its own and with the modifications BOC did. (I added the audio here to make it easier for you to understand what I'll be talking about - I'll be mentioning the seconds in the piece as reference)
Let's begin with the name: Hostile Encounter I don't think I need to explain much. We're watching Kinn and Vegas' "hostile encounter", aka them being bitter bitches to each other. It's great though, because it gives us a lot of context about the rivalry between the main and minor family. So, Vegas talks about how he has time to look around and I love that the music starts playing not when Vegas says the line, but when the camera shows Kinn's face as he's looking at Porsche and then at Vegas in disbelief:
Now here, BOC made the first modification on the piece: the first 10 seconds are playing on a loop, as Vegas gives Porsche some food and Kinn mentions how his bodyguards can take care of themselves. It helps to build up the tension between Vegas and Kinn and it lasts long enough to compliment the dialogue, which isn't yet quite as heavy or charged as later on.
After that, we get the first change in the score and it begins here:
Seconds 10-20 are when Vegas "apologizes" for forgetting how the main family treat their bodyguards in comparison to the minor family. It's the first sentence that truly hits, with an impact big enough to be felt by everyone on the table, bodyguards included. We also get Kinn's reaction:
The violin that's added to the tune helps make the statements feel more impactful. It works wonders for the tension they want to build. Seconds 20-29 are heard when Vegas addresses Porsche, starting the conversation about his bodyguard quitting:
Another layer added to the piece, another layer added to Vegas' behavior. Important note here is how the music becomes louder and the tune is higher than before. It's not low anymore, shimmering beneath the surface and setting the tone. It's loud, it's clear, it pierces through the listeners' ears, it becomes a presence. It honestly feels a little like an alarm - a danger signal - going off. It should be. Vegas is directly antagonizing Kinn. Speaking of which, as you've probably noticed, every escalation of the OST so far is triggered by Vegas' words. He's the one escalating the situation, but it's done slowly and methodically and the music compliments that. It makes it real to the viewer. Which is why the next change to the music happening by Kinn is so important:
Seconds 30-49 play from the moment Kinn interrupts Vegas' question to when he finishes talking - explaining how Tankhun won't let Vegas have Porsche. It's abrupt, it's loud, it's erratic - just like Kinn's reaction in that moment. Also, the tune that was playing when Vegas asked Porsche the question is still playing in the background. Kinn is rattled by Vegas and the music shows that as well. Vegas, however, expected this and the OST supports it. Seconds 49-1:07 are when Vegas smiles at Kinn and tells him to talk to Tankhun for him. It stops here:
The loud instruments stopped playing. Funnily enough, here BOC made the second modification: if you hear both versions, you'll realize there're other organs playing in the original piece, while in the show, there're only the guitar riffs, with a few other faint sounds being heard as well. It's a great one imo, because 1. It brings the point across that Vegas is a scheming bastard who remains in control of himself and the situation and 2. It holds the tension the scene built in place. It seems like a chess game of sorts - each player moving the pieces of the board in a way to win the game. But Vegas stops holding back:
Seconds 1:08-1:17 is when the music changes one last time. BOC did modifications here too, especially by adding the seconds 1:36-1:37 in the end before Tankhun hits Vegas' head. Beautifully executed. In my opinion, this moment is when Vegas truly escalates for the first time, even though it's done indirectly. Not in a subtle way, because Vegas isn't subtle, but by not directly stating what he means. It's enough to shake Kinn though, and God knows what he'd have said if Tankhun didn't interrupt them. Perhaps for the better of everyone present lol. I think I said all I had to say for this scene and the music used. All in all, I want to kiss the person who was responsible for the show's score in the mouth ❤️
#there's a chance I've said a bunch of inaccuracies in which case feel free to let me know#I'm not educated in anything music related#I'm just passionate about it and wish to discuss it#btw don't ask me how many times I had to rewatch the scene and play the OST in order to make this post#it's far too many but I love it so it was nbd#I may do sth similar for the pill kiss scene#because oh boyyy do I have things to say in regards to the score in that scene#kinnporche the series#ost

in a similar vein, give me a screenshot of any Speed Racer episode and I can likely tell you exactly which episode it's from, even if it's from one of the many two part episodes or the rare 3 part
What’s everybody’s most useless skill? If you show me any picture of Godzilla I can tell you exactly which Godzilla suit it is and who was wearing it.

I love these parallels xD
Supernatural:
Sam:"What would you do if someone stole the Impala?"
Dean:"I'd kill them all. [Continues to explicitly rant about what he'd do]"
D. P.:
Han Ho-yeol:"And some asshat stole my chocolate cake. Jun-ho, what would you've done in my place?"
An Jun-ho:"I'd kill him."
Food is to Jun-ho what the Impala is to Dean 🤣🤣 his seriousness was what got me 😂😂 he totally meant it haha

I've been rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender because why not and I'm losing my mind at Zuko's proper introduction. I don't know if it's hindsight, shifting characterizations, or just me not watching this in a long time, but this was amazing.
We start off showing he's an impatient and very angry kid. Reasonable, and the sort of flaw we might expect to see in a villain. Kinda funny that he expects to go up against an adult and fully 4-Element realized Avatar, but the kid is desperate and Iroh clearly expects his nephew to get the banishment-denial kicked out of him.
What's important here, though, is Zuko's introduction to the Southern Water Tribe.
Here, we have a very intimidating entrance where his entire ship just sails through the ice right up to the village's front door. It's quite ominous and this is our first proper introduction to how the Fire Nation interacts with a foreign people.
Sokka charges, I'm assuming fully prepared to die, and Zuko casually knocks him out of the way. Okay, so clearly the Water Tribe are entirely outgunned.
He asks "Where are you hiding him?" and the people of the Water Tribe go silent. I assume they're either just too scared to talk or actually protecting Aang.
Whatever the case, it's important to note that the Southern Water Tribe know the terror the Fire Nation can inflict. We have a whole episode dedicated to tracking down a division of raiders. Sokka was able to not only identify the ash-mixed snow as signs of an incoming attack, but estimate how many ships the amount of ash measures to. These are a people who have experience being terrorized and are probably expecting something terrible to happen.
And then, after they don't answer, Zuko grabs Gran-Gran. There was a horror sting to it, and everything the tribe knows about the Fire Nation suggests that Zuko is about to threaten or straight up hurt her to get answers. Classic "terrorize the elderly" bad guy stuff.
And then...
He goes "He's (the Avatar) be about this age and is a master of all four elements!?" and lets her go.
And all of a sudden, the tension that was built up is shattered as Zuko went "I know, I'll give them a reference for the person I'm looking for because clearly they're confused and I wasn't specific enough."
This went from a show of villainy to a show of Zuko being totally socially awkward and misreading the situation entirely. Not helping is that when he does try to menace them a moment later, his fire is slow and angled quite safely.
It still worked on the Water Tribe because they're understandably scared, but all I could think of is that this was the equivalent of a playground bully trying to make someone flinch with that fake-out lunge thing.
Because the fact-and something we'll come to learn-is that Zuko is TERRIBLE at being a Fire Nation oppressor. He's capable of doing morally dubious things and is a competent fighter. But he's lousy at terrorizing people and cruelty-that's kind of the point of his banishment.
And while we can see the story paint this picture of Zuko's true character as the story goes on with hints of good and conflicting loyalties, here we get to see just how bad he is at being "the bad guys". He's still unambiguously being the villain of this scene, and it makes no real difference to the oppressed themselves, but there is a comical gap between where Zuko thinks he is, where he actually is, and somehow it still puts him on the same page as his victims just because of how terrible the Fire Nation's influence is on everyone involved.

The car conversation and grammar: "When I was busy, you were free but you never called me."
After rewatching the episodes a few times (I just couldn't get enough of them) and reading the opinions floating around, I wanted to add my two cents to the car conversation discourse. This post is mostly about language and interpretations. Keep in mind I'm not 100% fluent in Korean, but I understand the language to a significant degree.
Let's get started!
It's time to put on my Korean-is-an-awfully-ambiguous-language cap. Buckle up.
The conversation starts with Jimin saying they haven't gone somewhere in a long time. I would say it's not that they haven't hung out, but that they haven't traveled together or gone out like that. This is just my interpretation, though. JK tells him, "we were supposed to get a drink" (as in, meet up and go for a drink 만나서 (meet and) 술 한잔 하자 (go get a drink)). Then, Jimin says "원래 그런 거 아니겠니" which loosely translates to "isn't that how it's supposed to be originally?" as in, that's what happens, you talk about doing this or that together and it never ends up happening. Like the travel show, if JM hadn't flown to JK. Like the times he tells Tae to meet up but never happens. Life gets in the way.
But this is the interesting part. Jimin's reply to me comes off a little defensive (in a joking manner), as if saying, "don't blame me for not meeting up (it's not like I didn't want to, I couldn't)." but JK keeps pushing him. He says:
"형 바쁠 땐 / 내가 겁나 한가한데 / 안 찾고. 나 바쁠 땐 / 형 한가한데 / 안 찾고."
This sentence is a grammatical nightmare. He isn't using any particles, which help indicate who's the subject or object of the sentence. So you can only guess based in context. I've marked Jimin (hyung) in orange, JK refering to himself ("me") in purple, and "didn't come looking for" in pink. 찾다 (jatda) means to search for, look for.
Many K-armys have been pointing the same thing out, and I agree. The repetition of 안 찾고, to me, feels like he's making the same point in different situations.
When you were busy, I was so freaking (겁나) free
When I was busy, you were free
And in neither of these cases you came looking for me.
That's why Jimin jumps in immediately to defend himself in a whiny tone.
아니지 찾았지! That's not true, I did go looking for you! (The ending 지 indicates a reiteration, something both the speaker and recipient know as true.)
He took that personally LOL. But this makes so much sense in retrospective, think of all of those 2023 lives were JK was asking JM to come over, to do a live together, and JM's response was always "I'm busy" "Hyung needs to go" "You/I have a schedule." Jungkook was lonely without him. Jimin probably felt bad and did as much as he could to see him ("I did reach out!") - to the point he flew fourteen hours to spend quality time with JK. HOWEVER, this is just an interpretation. The lack of clear pronouns and particles makes this really hard to translate, which is why the show translator interpreted it as "when you were busy and I was free, I didn't call you." Both interpretations are valid, but giving their reactions and context, I feel like this one makes the most sense to me.
If we go with my interpretation, after that, I feel like Jimin tries to ease the conversation/justify himself by saying how him and Tae don't meet up either even if they videocall often. As if saying "I'm not pushing you aside, I'm really not meeting up with anyone else either". This makes Jungkook laugh, but he still wonders lightly "I don't think we would be seeing each other (either) if it weren't for this (trip/shoot)." I want to reiterate how lighthearted this comment is, he's simply wondering (but still teasing a little.)
But again, Jimin feels the need to defend himself "yah, that's why I (hyung) came here!" (again, he uses a grammar that highlights the information being said is something the two of them know, something obvious.) To me this felt very whiny/cute, like, "stop saying I didn't make time to see you! I'm literally right here!!" and I think JK gets the hint that if he keeps pushing JM might get upset, so he smoothes things over by repeating over and over again, "that's right, you came, you came."
It's a response to the previous "you weren't looking for me." You did come looking for me. You found me. We're okay now.
Finally.
#jikook#kookmin#elatalks#jikook travel show#are you sure?!#jikook and korean#이게맞아#they missed each other so much and it makes me feel crazy#if anyone has screenshots of the entire conversation with korean subtitles i could really use them btw jikook talk too fast sometimes RIP

SFW!Colossus/Fem!Reader
I've been infected with another fictional man the way in which I pumped this out was ridiculous. I happened to re watch the scene in the movies where the government breaks into the mansion and seeing Piotr act like a big brother/dad to all the kids really got to me. That and the Deadpool movies (even though I thinks he's a little stuffy in those.) I even rewatched the episode he had in the animated series so that I knew I would get his character right and DAMN ugh god I juts have a thing for big men with soft hearts. especially the ones who are family oriented.
ALSO HOLY SHIT TY FOR 600 FOLLOWERS???? when did yall get here???? I swear I was at like 48 two weeks ago lmao time flies when you're thirsty for the X men I guess!! TWs: None? No pronouns mentioned but I went ahead and labeled it as fem because it's basically about kids forcefully adopting you as their mom. Kids having night terrors mentioned.
Can you imagine sort of just being adopted by the students at the mansion as mutant mom?? At that point you don't really get a choice. Like you start out being very patient with these kids and making sure to keep bandaids, burn cream, pain meds and all of that because one way or another something is gonna happen- and you want to be prepared.
And then you start making breakfast. I feel like normally they probably have a schedule for who has breakfast duty but if you wake up and can't go back to sleep and you take over no one really cares. More sleep for them!!
And then a few times turns into every morning. And you're setting out ketchup for one kids eggs and syrup for another ones hashbrowns- and making sure not to cook with nuts and make sure there's at least three different things on the table that are Kosher or gluten free. Keeping an eye on everyone as they come to get food and noting who did and did not make it to breakfast this morning so that you can make sure they eat later-
And one day you're waking up at 5am and getting ready for the day so you can go make breakfast like always, and you look in the mirror at some point and just realise, holy fuck, when did you become a parent?
It's such a regular thing for kids to call you mom at that point, a knowing how so many of them have come from rough backgrounds, it makes you really happy to know they find comfort in you and will come find you if they need comforting.
And then there's Piotr. Big, strong, Piotr. Piotr who wakes up before dawn and does chores around the mansion in the early morning air. You can take the man out of the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the man. He does the lawn care, chops wood, takes care of whatever animals that might need feeding, replaces the feed in the bird feeder.
Piotr who makes sure to stop by the kitchen to share a small cup of coffee with you before he does chores. Piotr who hangs Hummingbird feeders right outside the kitchen windows because you mentioned you missed the ones your grandmother used to hang. Just Piotr, being strong and masculine and an absolute sweetheart.
He reminds me of that one quote that heard somewhere about masculinity being about protecting femininity, not rejecting it??? That one!!!
Kids call him dad all the time, and even though yall aren't even together, you become the parents of the school. Scott and Jean?? Love them, but they don't have that same kind of parent energy.
It's such a regular thing for kids to find the two of you interacting one way or another. Someone woke up way too early and enters the kitchen to find yall during your coffee, and there's a sweet moment with yall telling them to go back to bed, or offering to make them a quick breakfast. Maybe if they're really young Piotr will offer to tuck them in. He might be really blunt when telling them there are no monsters, but will be a little more gentle when you set a hand on his arm and give him a bit of a look.
The kiddo asks for both of you to tuck them in and you obviously aren't going to refuse them. Which leads to everyone wanting both of you to tuck them in and soon enough you two are doing curfew checks instead of the professor.
It's becomes so regular for the students to treat you two as their parents, and no one actually believes it when they find out that no, you're not a couple. So, they do what kids do and try to get you two together.
First it starts with making sure you two are sat together during everything they can get away with. Then it moves on to things like mistletoe (out of season, Piotr mistook it as an accidental bloom made by one of the agrokinesis kids and took it down) and then more mischievous plans like telling one of you that the other needed help with one thing or another, knowing that either one of you would help out at the drop of a hat. Sureee, they were lying, but you two didn't know that. (most of the time)
The kids just want to see their parents happy and in love. There's nothing wrong with that, is there? It's not like You and Piotr hadn't been helplessly pining for the other the entire time anyway.
You sigh deeply once you finally sneak out of the dorm room, Piotr right behind you. The tall man takes extra care to shut the door very gently, making sure it clicks in place just as silently.
"I thought we were never going to get her to sleep." You whisper to him. One of the youngest girls attending the school had a rather difficult time with night terrors, and would struggle to fall asleep without being tucked in. When you and Piotr were doing curfew checks tonight, she was the only kiddo still awake, and she had practically begged both of you to stay with her untill she finally did fall asleep. It couldn't be just one of you, It had to be both. No matter how many rooms you both had to check tonight, you would never have left her shaken up in such a state. You just hadn't expected it to take an hour.
"Illyana had similar dreams as a little one. It takes time for children to overcome it." Piotr whispers back as you begin to walk down the hallway to check the rest of the rooms. Even when he whispers, his voice is strong and hard to keep quiet. You know there's truth to what he says, and yet you can't help but wish you could do something more to help her with her nightmares. You rub some warmth into your arms anxiously as you think about it, surprised when you feel the warm weight of Piotr's hand settle in between your shoulder blades.
"You're worrying again." He states, frowning slightly when you look up at him. You send him a resigned smile, before it quickly falls as you look away.
"I can't help it. I worry about all of them, her especially. They just... deserve so much more than their lot in life." You say. Piotr hums in response, his thumb brushing idly against your back.
"Their life like us, you mean? Mutants?" His question makes you wince.
"No. Yes? I don't know. I just... I just wish that we could give them more than... this." You say, waving your hands to motion about the mansion. "The school might very well be the only safe space they have their entire life. The world hasn't been kind to them, and I'm not sure it ever will be." Your words begin to quiet down as you finish the sentence, lowing to a whisper that only he can hear. You'd never, ever want any of these kids hear a word of what you're saying. Knowing that hope is really all they have at their age, and you of all people refuse to be the one to destroy that beautiful childlike optimism.
"That is what we are working for as the X-men, yes? To change that?" Piotr asks you point blank, his hand moving up towards the back of your neck in a soothing manner that still gives you goosebumps, feeling the comforting heat of his hand even stronger than before.
"Yeah, but..."
"Then we are doing all we can." He finishes, a smile on his face that's so determined and confident that it very nearly changes your mind completely. Nonetheless, it's a reassuring smile that makes your chest feel warm and fuzzy. You smile back at him finally, and you swear you see fondness in his eyes.
It doesn't take long before the two of you are finally at your door. You give Piotr a short and sweet goodnight as you begin to step inside, but he stops you before you go, gently catching hold of your arm. For the first time, you think you've seen him debate on his words. His mouth opens, but he doesn't speak at first, and you swear you see a blush rising to his cheeks as he does so.
"You'd make a good mother." He says eventually, and it makes you smile widely.
"You'd make a good dad." You tell him. There's silence between you as he brushes a stray lock of hair away from your face in a fond and caring manner, and you swear you could trick yourself into believing that you and Piotr were already in domestic bliss if this moment goes on for any longer. The tall man leans in, and you find your mind short circuiting as he presses a kiss to your forehead. The simple action somehow leaving you beyond flustered.
"Sleep well, Любовь моя. I will see you in the morning." Piotr tells you, before walking off at his regular stiff pace. You stand in your doorway for a minute, watching him leave with a bit of a confused smile on your face. Out of all the Russian nicknames he's called you in the past, you had never heard him say that one before. You wonder if you should pick up a book on the language as you close your door and finally crawl into bed, although part of you is content to leave it be. Colossus had always been blunt, and you're sure he'd tell you eventually. You fall asleep just as you always do, excited to see him when you wake up in the morning.
