Finally trying a (cheap) nail grinder on Tassie since she's become so avoidant to the clippers, and while there are some things I don't like about it (good GOD it takes forever) the fact that she's not as avoidant is already a huge plus. Graduated to doing both front paws tonight before stopping and it seemed to be an overall positive experience. Biggest complaint is again, the time it takes to grind a nail down (two weeks since last trimming, did not get close to the quick tonight to make sure I didn't cause any negative associations), and the dust buildup makes it difficult to see if I am getting to the gel cap.

If she continues to sit for it though it'll be worth the money I spent on it. She has a few nails that are getting super thick despite regular trimmings and the clippers do not trim them cleanly and probably with significant discomfort. Plus those three claws that have the super long quicks for no reason that I constantly forget what nails they're in and accidentally snag her. Definitely hoping this ends up being the secret ingredient.

AITA for getting upset when my mom insists on clipping my nails?

I (adult male) still live with my mother because of finances/personal situations that make me unable to earn my own living. For the most part, this is fine. However, there's one thing that bugs me: she insists on trimming my nails for me.

I know it sounds weird, and it is. She's been trimming my nails since I was little, and I've always hated it. But now I'm an adult, and I don't need her to trim my nails for me, but every two weeks or so, she insists on doing it anyway. I'll admit that I have coordination issues that make things like that difficult for me to accomplish on my own, and hygiene isn't my strong suit either. But I don't need (or want) her to keep trimming my nails for me. How do I tell her to stop?

I've tried to explain it to her, but it's like I'm speaking another language or something. I've tried more direct methods, like pulling my hand away when she tries to bring out the clippers, but then she just says I'm being childish and it'll be over faster if I just let her do it, and that her dogs (she has two, they both hate me) are more well-behaved than I am. And then she trims my nails anyway, no matter how many times I tell her I hate it!

So yesterday, I finally got fed up. And right as she grabbed my hand and tried to come in with the clippers, I pulled my hand away and jabbed her with my quills! And then I curled up in a ball, so she couldn't get to my paws at all. She tried to reach for my paws, but I just poked her again.

My mom got annoyed, and said we'll have to try again tomorrow since clearly I'm in a bad mood. She seemed upset, and I feel a little bad for poking her so much since usually we have a good relationship. So tumblr, am I the asshole?

judebellingham for the past seven years, y/n has been my best friend and the love of my life. She has been by my side since day one and I would give anything to keep her there. She's been here through the ups and the downs, through the wins and the losses and not once has she faltered in her love and loyalty to me and our relationship. I don't think there's ever been a person I had more trust in that wasn't literally related to me. I love her with my entire being and I know I always will.

When we got together, y/n had already gotten a slight taste of what fame could bring with Lando’s involvement in racing. Because of this, we decided to keep our relationship to ourselves and away from the public opinion. It was never out attention to hide from anyone but, instead, to be able to love and have something without anyone trying to ruin it.

That being said, the hate y/n has been receiving these past few days is unacceptable. The only thing she has done is be in a relationship, a fact that has been known for as long as she has been a public figure. The only thing bringing this hate one is the knowledge that the person she loves is me. In case you need it, here is a reminder that you do not know us. You don't know our life or our relationship and this is the reason we were a “secret” for so many years. Demoing toenail time with Tassie, when I get the new puppy I'll try to remember to record how I trained this. But for starters look up cooperative care, used in a variety of animal husbandry! Tassie's pretty tentative because I have quicked her a few times, including grazing it this time, but she's still had enough positive experiences with this that she's willing to cooperate with me. It starts with baby steps, trimming one toenail at a time, and when they hit a stubborn phase (like Tassie did) you do have to enforce that they don't have a choice but it can go smoothly if they work with you and they'll be rewarded heavily. It takes time but it works! You can get an adult dog to do this as well but you're going to be spending a lot more time working them through whatever fear they have with toenails, so patience is a must. I've also used cooperative care with ear cleanings and mouth exams, so it can go far!
