totally biased in saying that no matter what the fandom, the tumblr side will be leagues better than the twitter side
100%. even the absolute worst takes on tumblr, and there are so many, are average takes on twitter no matter what fandom you're in. i once saw someone on f1twt genuinely say that martin brundle was a better driver than michael schumacher. and they weren't trolling

Buddie or Bud-dont
Buds,
I love buddie. You love buddie. I get it. I do. But I just gotta say, I keep seeing patterns in slash fandom that drive me nuts.
The always positive, always certain that canon is just around the corner shipper, who paints anyone in a bad light if they (usually accurately) are pretty sure that canon ISN’T around the corner drives me crazy. Especially, when they say the doubtful shipper is simply unable to interpret the tea leaves (cough) I mean ‘meta’ of the show.
Because look - when the showrunner says “we’re not making it canon”, and they aren’t letting the characters talk to each other and are keeping them physically separated, so that in most of the season they aren’t in the same shot... that’s not likely to be some conspiracy to set things up for an ‘end game’. Occam’s razor (i.e. the simplest explanation) is that THEY DON’T INTEND TO MAKE THE SHIP CANON.
(Phew. I really needed to get that off my chest.)
If you want to hope against hope and speculate beyond the obvious - fine! But don’t put down other shippers with purity tests or meta superiority or general dickishness when people are disappointed.
Prime example of dickishness? Telling people ‘the show isn’t about...”.
Guess what - you aren’t morally superior because of what you watch for. People can watch for whatever reason they want. It’s a goddamn TV show. They can watch for buddie, or the ensemble cast, or just because they think Chimney is hot (because he is). All of that is fine. And people can be disappointed because they aren’t showing Buck and Eddie together, or because the plot lines this season have been terrible and badly distributed, or because there aren’t enough scenes of shirtless Chimney (there aren’t). And all of that is FINE. Nobody is better person or a better fan because of what they watch for. Scolding people for not watching for the reasons you do is like being smugly righteous because you like pistachio ice cream and your friend likes rocky road. It’s ridiculous and dickulous.

I'm glad self-inserts and mary sues have been (for the most part) accepted by fandom. Or, at the very least, they aren't as hated on and attacked as they were in the past.
In the ye olde days™, 12-year-old me was absolutely terrified of making a "mary sue," to the point that I wouldn't post anything I made. Even worse, the characters I did make were dull and boring to achieve "realism." God forbid would I even THINK of making a character that was anywhere close to me as a person. Luckily, I was able to grow past this and started making art that made me happy, no matter what others might think. But what about the other 12 year olds who saw that their OCs were "bad" and got discouraged? There's so many people out there who stopped engaging in art simply because they made an OP character.
Creating characters is about expressing your creativity and feeling a connection to your art. It's going to be a different, unique experience for everyone. For one person, that might mean making a gritty, realistic OC. For another, it could be making a perfect version of themself to ship with a character they like. If making that "bad" mary sue is what makes someone happy, let them do it! Focus on what makes you happy and thats what matters. (live and let live basically).
Basically, if you want to make a character, DO IT!! Make that Undertale self-insert that dates Sans! Draw your neon pink alicorn princess pony! Feed your inner-child and create what makes you HAPPY!!!

Anyway, if you're a fan of Bruce and Steph having a father/daughter relationship you should probably go read about Oliver and Mia.

I want. Four to get appreciation. Because
Four gave a ton of unnoticed help when Twilight was injured
The fight with Wild was difficult, and I know we're all concerned about his negative view of the shadow crystal
But Four did something that no one else really thought of to help- He took care of Twi's stuff
From the beginning he told Twilight to not worry about them
So Four took care of pretty much everything but the others (that Sky and Wars handled)
He took care of Epona
Which is so very important- he took care of Twilight's horse. After her arrival at the stable Four followed up on her
And for Epona, a horse so attached to her human, having some company can help so much for reassurance
He took care of Twilight's stuff
He got Twi's shield- his bags and equipment, and organized it into one place
And he was worried. He obviously found the shadow crystal while handling Twi's stuff, but his negative reactions to it were out of concern.
Also- because of his placement in this scene
I'm fairly convinced Four was ready to start cooking before Wild showed up (since he's beside the counter with food supplies). At the very least he had the basket of fruit out for everyone -but he was literally standing with food behind him- he thought of everything
And he did housekeeping!
Wars payed for the inn, so Four took care of the inn
Realistically these boys were probably not too concerned with tidyness. Four got all of Twi's things on one table, and took care of the room they stayed in
Organizing tables and Twi's things, having food supplies ready, and opening the curtains- overall he was the one tidying up the inn
Four helped in a huge way! He took care of Twi's horse (Epona is so important), his equipment and shield and bag, as well as the other rooms in the inn
Four filled in all the little tasks that others didn't think of. He helped in ways that were needed, but not obvious
There's a lot of problems with the shadow crystal and with Wild, and I don't know what's gonna happen in the future
But don't forget this- don't forget that Four was one who stepped up in an almost unnoticeable way
Don't forget that when everyone was barely holding it together, Four visited Twilight's horse and took care of his things
No matter what develops in the future- this amount of care shown is important ya know?

i'm just gonna say it right now, a take that i will always find immensely annoying is that medic is actually a completely incompetent doctor and has no idea what he's doing. I feel like people focus too much on him losing his license over the fact that he had one at some point.
my personal opinion is that he knows MUCH more than your average doctor and uses that knowledge to find loopholes and come up with new breakthroughs that nobody else would have even thought to do.
this right there was him was flexing his ability to improvise on the spot. even with all their years of training, other doctors haven't even come close to the level that he has simply because he wasn't afraid to think outside the box. it was basically him saying "well, can other doctors resurrect a man from the dead single handedly? i didn't think so."
he isn't just a doctor, he is ALSO a scientist. he doesn't care if his methods come off as unethical to other people, he only cares about the end goal. it's not that he "doesn't know what he's doing" it's that he simply takes alternative approaches.
this man revolutionized modern medicine, do you really think he would have successfully brought multiple people back from the dead if he didn't know what he was doing.

"zk is an awful ship they'd be so horrible and toxic together" zutara is literally baby's first EtL ship who go from enemies to close friends in canon they're one of the most wholesome interations of the trope imaginable but also i want everyone to know i'd still ship it even if it was horrible and toxic <3 because they're 2d moving pixels and not fucking real <3

Self defense scarring VS Attempted murder scarring yayyy
Dingospot and Koalasight scar guide/some distinctions between them ig, idk, warrorr cates!
text under cut (going clockwise):
DINGOSPOT:
Didn't even register his injuries until Federheart pointed them out lmaooo (Locked in on rocking Mistmask's shit)
Kind of weird about the scars :/
soooo damn arrogant about his abilities (Justified tbh he is fucking GOOD.)
Scruffy, but well-groomed
Angry, rude ol' bastard (tends to just "blow up" sometimes.)
KOALASIGHT:
OH HE TRAUMATIZED FR FR
Can open his left eye if he REALLY tries but it's super painful :(
Near-fatal neck wound.
You literally cannot sneak up on him. -> SUPER alert & jumpy 24/7 (Smokeface vc: Bet.)
Fur unkept
Skinnier. Like most of Blueclan.

in relation to the last post, the entire plotline is poorly executed.
annabeth's reaction to percy in tartarus is normal, like, not good, but normal. percy's not only challenging the laws of the world, he's indulging cruelty. being afraid is a normal reaction to have. despite that, it's still a conflict that needs to be resolved...and it's not.
immediately afterwards it's like ok back to normal! the jagged edges of percy's soul smooth over and annabeth is back to business (which immediately begets the question: why did rick write that then? which is never answered. the point? missing*). like, the actual issue isn't even addressed. before turning the poison onto akhlys, percy is being tortured w it (and nothing annabeth tries stops it). percy isn't doing this bc it's fun and exciting. he's doing this bc he was feeling so angry, so hurt, so scared, so traumatized that he resorted to hurting someone to make himself feel better. this is literally never addressed.
even in boo, annabeth's arc isn't abt learning to not be afraid or to trust percy again, it's to allow herself to be afraid. w piper. away from percy. and she never confronts percy directly, she never reconciles her fear w percy, they never address how this changes their relationship. also piper is there bc annabeth is so freaked out by percy that now piper is freaked out by percy. which is. a separate issue that is only an issue bc once again it never gets resolved.
and then w percy obviously he has his suicide attempt. like, he thought what he did in tartarus was so unforgivable that he not only believed that he deserved to die, but deserved to die slowly and painfully from something that he could easily prevent. like. that's the thing. percy's powers come easily to him. do u know how low he would have to be to not even subconsciously try to save himself? and the only response is a "i think i get it" from someone who's perspective does not properly convey the severity of the situation (ppl read this scene without even realizing it's a suicide attempt). once again, percy and annabeth do not confront this conflict together. percy tries to kill himself and the narrative is like...anyway.
if rick didn't know how to handle this, or even if he just didn't want to write it, he didn't have to write it. any of it.
but it's not that rick doesn't know how to handle this situation bc he writes the same thing in boo and handles it a million times better. nico and reyna have a very similar situation to percy and annabeth and the inclusion of both of these scenes and the difference in how they're handled ends up vilifying annabeth in the narrative.
reyna and nico have known each other for less time. they have built up less trust. and yet. when nico challenges the laws of the world and indulges cruelty in a way that reminds reyna of her extremely traumatizing backstory, she comforts nico. she doesn't treat him like he's dangerous. hedge tells him "we all get angry" and reyna vehemently agrees. nico is given explicit support even before he can start spiraling. and when nico is told to not use that power, it's bc of how it affected him, not how it made them feel, not that it's unnatural.
this shows that there was a correct answer. annabeth didn't have it, and suddenly her "normal" reaction looks bad in comparison. but instead of addressing this in any meaningful capacity, we're going to ignore it and send p*rcabeth to college. #relationshipgoals.
it's such a narrative failure. and rick could've just. not written it.

I feel like a lot of folks who insist that the rampant purity culture in fandom spaces is "not a real problem", and something "an adult with a job" shouldn't deal with, fail to realize that if you simply engage with a certain ship or a certain trope you are exposed to cyberbullying in the form of insults, death threats, rape threats, suibating, self-harm baiting, attempts at doxxing, loss of your livelihood.
Your traumas will be stepped on if you have any, and/or treated as a joke. Your coping mechanisms will be deemed wrong, bad, harmful to yourself and other people, and you will be shamed for having them. The work you have been doing for your mental health, regardless if you dabble in the hobbies you like because of past traumas or because it's just a past-time you have, will be kicked into the dirt because someone is grossed out by them and they arbitrarily decided you cannot express your interest in them.
It is a real problem. Being an adult with a job doesn't give you an "exempt from this" badge that will protect you from harassment if you engage with anything that antis deem immoral.
And there are no "two sides of the same coin" and "two versions to hear" when it comes to this. I don't care if you think someone liking something is "unhealthy", that's none of your business what another person likes. Antis do not "have a point", they never do, their reaction to seeing a dark trope or an "unhealthy ship" are never justified. Hurting real living and breathing people over fictional content is never justified!

I've basically been gunning on teaching myself comics (with a few wrong turns 🥴) the last few years and I've been pleased at everything I've learned so far and proud of the projects I've completed! But I think I really need to accept that the way I draw is just not social media friendly 🧍♂️
