So I've found it a little weird how differently teenagers are portrayed in Fantasy High, Pirates of Leviathan and The Seven and I think I've finally figured it out.

To me: Pirates of Leviathan shows what teenagers are like compared to adults, Fantasy High shows what teenagers are like compared to each other, and The Seven shows what teenagers think they're like.

Another specific thing I crave that’s been so difficult to find lately is enemies-to-lovers where the antagonist is obsessed with the protagonist while the protagonist is genuinely oblivious to it

And I know that sounds common, but the specific part that’s making it difficult is that I don’t want the protagonist to be oblivious because they’re just so sweet or innocent or anything like that, I want it to be that they had v valid reasons to never pick up on it

Like let’s say it’s a superhero/supervillain thing, and the villain is always monologuing about the hero and everyone knows that the villain is obsessed with them and willing to go on a long winded speech about them at the drop of a hat, except for the hero, because during those monologues they’re like. actually doing their fucking job and stopping the villain’s schemes.

I just want a regular, competent, maybe kinda snarky, person who gets told “maybe you should try seducing them” as a plan, and is just genuinely so confused as to why that would be an actual serious plan while everyone else is nodding like nothing’s wrong with what was said. total twilight zone moment for them.

General :

— Darkrai are a nervous specie. If they become stressed or angered, the sector around them will suffer from nightmares the night that follow. The exception are the one they recognized as non-threatening*. — Most Darkrai don't know how to really control their 'reflexes' nightmares, which tend to attract them problems most of the times. They are recognizable as they are mostly shapeless save from the shape of the Darkrai + an intense fear for the dreamer. — Because of this, they tries to tag along with a Cresselia in hope to create a mutualistic bond. Darkrai protect Cresselia from predators, while Cresselia presence diminished the damage of their power incontinence. — However, they are able to shape dream and nightmare alike if they wish so. — They live mostly by themselves. Raising the young seem unlikely. — They eat 'darkness' (not really blackness but psychological darkness) as well as flowers related to inducing sleep, like poppies, lavender and orange blossom. — Normally, they aren't able to speak like humans as they lack the vocal cord for that. A variant of telepathy is preferred, but have the downside to make the listener sleepy as it's worked on light trance. — All of them are hermaphrodite. Gender is a meaningless concept to their eyes.

*Based on in game, partner Pokémon in duo or more aren't affected by Bad Dream if asleep.

— Sad and melancholic 90% of the time. 10% left are about the wonder on how life is precious and fragile. — Trust issues and have no self-esteem — Hadn't moved on Alicia. — Wish deep down to rediscover friendship with someone else, but is too afraid to be hurt. — Even if they speak, they have actually very few vocabulary and struggle to pronounces words as they speak orally. — Hate his powers related to dreams, but will used them if needed

Name: Kaguya (named by Akari/Dawn) Pronouns: Had evolved with time. Used to any, now use all BUT "it" when they understand it can be seen "dehumanizing".

— Met Akari a long time ago and became friends after a LOT of patience of the human. — Generally nervous and shy, yet will switch on "I won't hesitate bitch" mindset when you come on their territory uninvited. — At time, struggle with her powers, especially on New Moon. Close to her Cresselia because of this, forging a mutualistic relationship. It gets better with Akari, but can still escape her control. — Had learn to accept his powers and himself, adopting a "I am this way and there is nothing I can really do about it. Yet, I don't deserve to be mistreated for this either". — Had waited for Dawn for around 200 years, and established himself on the Harbor Inn nearly 100 years ago. Used to "work" for the owners before a tragic accident happened... — Mixed feeling when they meet again, as Dawn isn't "Akari" yet and know what will happens to her... and can't do anything about it.

Shadows on Almia :

Name : Darkrai (none) Pronouns : Don't care for those, it means nothing.

— The chillest Darkrai in general, but especially regarding humans. — Wise and level-head, perfect understanding of its powers and thus use it with care. — Intrigued about humanity and is surprisingly approachable. — Probably the oldest in main gameverse's universe. — Knows about the Cresselia in the region, but they don't really care for one another as Darkrai doesn't need her supervision.

Name : Darkrai Pronouns : He/Him

— Oh boy. Another edgy one but on the evil side. — Discrimination made him this way — Obsessed on the "Dark World" as he thinks it's the only way Pokémon like him will prosper (and low-key enjoys the suffering of all the others). If he had a little more time to live in it, he would have come to realize it wouldn't be enough for his happiness. — Very good control on his powers and manage to expand it like Almia and Poképark 2, but adds the "Time's" part they didn't exploit. Initially, learn to master his powers to avoid power incontinence. — After his memory is erase, he becomes more an edgy guy than an actual threat... but still have 'impulsed'. — Honestly, he should seek Pokétherapy or something. — Would scream OMG SHE IS SO MUCH LIKE ME if he knew about Margarita Blankenheim spoiler: they aren't

just wanna sya i think its really cool that you love languages even if its something you kind of had to do bc of culture loss bc im the exact same way. my parents never taught me our language and now i have to put in the work to learn it when everyone around me knows that i should be fluent in it already but it led me to having a really great time learning languages. i'm not a no sabo kid but i wanted to say its nice knowing others are out there and im mentally high fiving all of yall if yall are comfortable with it

The loss hurts terribly, but it's also made language infinitely more meaningful to me, and I do value that. I don't know that I'd revel in learning languages and linguistics the way I do if I wasn't coming from a place of grief at the core of it all.

That's not to say there's no joy--there most certainly is. But it redefines everything, if that makes sense. And it can feel so incredibly isolating, so knowing there are people experiencing and coping with the same complicated shame and longing for their language, whatever it may be, is comforting.

It's near indescribable, how incredibly embarrassed and shameful you feel. As if you're missing a piece of yourself and everyone can see it and you'll never be good enough. That no matter how hard you try, you're still uncertain and missing something--you have this whole mental battle to deal with on top of the difficulties of learning a language.

It sucks. But oh how I love language because of it. Every word, every sound, every abbreviation and history and the sheer humanity behind them all. I could spend every lifetime studying them and it'd never be enough <3

Inspired by this post, I've seen quite a few people talking about this now and I wanted to add something.

You don't have to like bugs.

You can still be annoyed by by mosquitoes. You can still get angry at wasps. You can still be scared of spiders, or freaked out by centipedes, or disgusted by whatever little bug you happen to come across in your life. If you don't like bugs that's okay.

You just have to acknowledge that they are still important to the ecosystem, and all of them dying would be a bad thing.

I'm not talking about invasive species or when certain species are genuinely harmful to certain habitats. I'm talking about when people say "wasps are so useless, we should just exterminate them." Or "mosquitoes are so terrible, why don't we just get rid of them all?"

They may not matter to you, and you may find them bothersome and annoying and scary, but they matter to the other animals and living creatures around them. They matter to the rest of the natural world they live in.

So it's okay to go "augh i got a wasp sting, it really hurts :(" Or "man, mosquito bites are such a bother, I can't stop itching them." But it is not okay to go "this entire species should be damned to hell forever just because they inconvenience me a little bit." You can hate something and also respect the fact that it deserves to live.
