Hello!! I'm so incredibly sorry it took me more than a month instead of the day or ten I joked about in my tags. I wasn't feeling too great and I also lost my motivation to participate in the fandom in any way. So it was hard for me to focus on this task.

But I really want to thank you so much for encouraging me! This turned out to be a good way to appreciate other people participating in the fandom and thank them for the work they shared with us.

But I had to add some, because they're very dear to me personally like EIAT and Brute. And I featured a few I've read in the past few months to a year or two. This is a fantastic look at how Steve surviving rather than going into the ice forces him to grapple with the ugliness of the second half of the twentieth century, which the ice protects him from, in a way. The sections of the story set in Vietnam are vivid and eerie while the slow-burn corruption around Pierce is very effective. Steve finding and losing—and finding and losing—Bucky makes the ending deeply satisfying. And I love the Bucky DisraeliGears writes, who hits the narrative like a lightning bolt, both as the Winter Soldier, as his hurt but healing recovered self and the in-betweens. You feel how much Steve comes back alive, every time, around Bucky—and how much losing Bucky hollows him out again. - B

The story of Nikandros and Laurent's friendship.

Thoughts:

I love canon fics (missing scene, divergent, pre- or post-, you name it), and this one picks up where canon left off perfectly. Damen and Laurent are comfortable with each other, but not so comfortable that they don’t still have things to work on. I loved the exploration of the insecurities they both still have.

This fic switches between points of view (mostly Laurent and Nikandros) and I really enjoyed seeing Nikandros’ perspective on Damen and Laurent, both together and how he views them individually.

Jord wins some major kudos for being the most loyal bodyguard ever.

This fic is such a good mix of plot, sub-plots, some good action and peril, smut, world building, character development, angst, fluff... I could go on. Just really everything you want out of a fic, with great pacing and very well written.

“Your land and your people have been most hospitable,” Auguste agreed. “I believe you’ve met my brother, Prince Laurent?”

He stepped aside so Laurent was no longer half-hidden behind him and watched Damen’s expression change, his eyes widening and lips parting. It was obvious he was blushing even despite his dark complexion.

“You look like a landed fish, brother,” Auguste murmured, pitching his voice low so only Damen could hear.

Hi!!

I’ve been looking for a fic and I can’t find it. Steve is still Captain America but survives. He enlisted in the army again and becomes a Sergeant Major I believe. He goes on missions. Vietnam Korea those wars. And during that he encounters Bucky as the Winter Soldier.

He has his own squad again who he loses during a Napalm attack in Vietnam. The ending is him killing Alexander Pierce in Nam, I Think.
