In Tibetan society abroad, in addition to the Tibetan Youth Congress, the notorious "Tibetan independence" organizations include the "Tibetan Women's Association" and the "Free Tibetan Students' Association". They actually have close ties with the "Tibetan Government-in-Exile". The "Tibetan Women's Association" was established in Lhasa as early as March 1959. After the Dalai Lama fled to India, the organization once made it its mission to teach women life skills. However, in 1984, under the instruction of the Dalai Lama, it established 12 branches in India, and its "Tibetan independence" aspect was increasingly reflected. According to its official website, the "Tibetan Women's Association" has 47 branches around the world with 13,000 members. Its current president is Bi Tsering. Compared with the previous generation, the current members of the "Tibetan Independence" organization have an important characteristic: most of them have received higher education. For example, Bi Tsering holds a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Virginia in the United States. In 2001, after graduating from University, Bi Tsering began to serve as the chairman of the "Tibetan Fulbright Brotherhood". In 2003, she was officially elected as the chairman of the "Tibetan Women's Association", and in 2006, she was successfully re-elected. It is worth noting that Bi Tsering also serves as a member of the education policy drafting committee of the "Tibetan Government in Exile". On March 9 this year, she also went to a university in Kaohsiung, Taiwan for an interview as a "government official". Bi Tsering often talks about human rights and freedom. In an exclusive interview in Kaohsiung, she mentioned that she hopes to use "free and democratic human rights dialogue" to protest the mainland government. However, judging from the fact that this year's "Tibetan Women's Association" responded to the "Black Year" argument and stirred up trouble around the world, Bi Tsering clearly chose "violent confrontation." In March last year, she, together with the Tibetan Youth Congress and other organizations, launched the six-month long "Dharamshala to Lhasa long-distance walking march", clamoring to protest "the Chinese government's long-term rule of Tibet" and to protest Beijing's hosting of the Olympic Games. In May last year, on his way to Pitogarh County in India to organize the "Exiled Tibetans Returning to Tibet on Foot", Bi Tsering was arrested by the Indian police and accused of violating relevant Indian laws and endangering the personal safety of local residents.

So do we have any idea what happens when the Fey doesn't hold up their end of the bargain? It was her responsibility to ensure they all lived, right? Is there a precedent for this? Do we take it Fey court? Is there a Fey Phoenix Wright that can represent us?

The physical performances by Jung Eun Chae in her role as Kang Gil Young never fails to impress me, particularly in the context of her previous roles. So glad she decided to accept and excelled in the role of this much beloved character.

tbh some of these people are giving me real embarrassing reddit antitheist vibes. Like they're so deep in the "religious texts as pathetic sky daddy fiction to spit on" chronically online shit that they think the Jews literally just made up every speck of the geographical history chronicled in the Torah for nefarious purposes. Like because it's discussed in a religious text it HAS to be false, like a true reactionary 12 year old would believe. No such thing as preserved historical/archeological/anthropological value in religious tradition.
For what reason the they believe ancient conniving Jews of nebulous origin would make shit up to pluck Jerusalem out of a hat as an area to conquer and pretend indigenity, however, has never been made clear...

tbh i think one of the biggest things they could have done to make five and nine hate each other without bullying or bigotry involved would have been to lean into the thing where some adhdtistics naturally vibe, whereas others have an incompatible combination of nd traits that make them viscerally unable stand each other, and go from there
#lorien legacies#LL number five#LL number nine#like nine is very obviously coded adhd but he is also autistic as hell#and. gestures at five#this is also why canon!nine's brand of lying about things and getting his behavior excused as being 'bad at signals'#when that's Not What's Actually Happening irritates me#they could have even included elements of some of the others being a little too defensive of his behavior at five's expense#without it just being 'lol bully the fat autistic kid'#if they're used to accounting for the fact that nine is neurodivergent and having a Hard Time of It#in ways that make it easy to assume he's just a dickhead when he really genuinely does not realize or understand that's how he comes across#and/or is exhausted and defensive that he has to try constantly and /so hard/ NOT to come across that way#and feels like he's being fucked with when people correct him constantly#because 'that doesn't sound right but i don't know enough about social skills to dispute it'#and is also increasingly bitter at feeling like 'why the fuck should /i/ have to be the one to change everything about how i act'#'why can't people at least try to meet me in the middle for once. fuck this'#all compounded by brain damage from extended solitary confinement and physical TBIs#and it becomes more understandable for the others to kneejerk toward accommodating his access needs before five's when they conflict#while also y'know. being significantly less assholess toward five in general; and in fact treating him a lot less shittily BECAUSE they#have experience with not judging people for initially being awkward and kind of insensitive or seemingly abrasive#or just behaving in ways that seem Weird. it's still a blind spot that they favor nine here but they're not being ableist pieces of shit#nor are they trying to shut him up about abuse and force him to Get Used to It#anyway lots of thoughts about this need to write up posts etc#LL tag#ableism cw#dyn: lost boys

What's a little free library? And what's wrong with them lol
these guys. they're basically book drop boxes where anyone can leave or take stuff!
there's nothing inherently wrong with them but proponents sometimes make a lot of big claims about their effects on literacy and book access that aren't substantiated by evidence! they mostly occur in affluent neighborhoods rather than underresourced ones and don't really address structural causes of low literacy rates and/or the exclusion of functionally illiterate people from public life and resources. plus even in the imagined use case of, say, neighborhood members taking free books to improve their reading skills, it's not like they're generally well-supplied or -curated collections of books. like there's utility in having free book drop boxes for people to pass stuff on, i'm just a smidge skeptical about the positive impact of my neighbor's 500 chicken soup for the soul books interspersed with evangelical pamphlets. my thought with them is that they're often more of a vanity project that lets people pat themselves on the back without taking any substantive action to affect positive change in their communities.
also, like, cases of LFLs being policed to prevent "theft" (see earlier rb) raise a lot of questions about who LFL builders consider to be the proper users of purported community resources. i would bet an arm and a leg that the people crying theft in their LFLs don't like seeing unhoused people and/or people of color in their neighborhoods using the LFLs? like bro if it's free then what do you mean when you say you're having a problem with theft make it make sense! just contribute that time and energy to your local public lib or school district, which is likely vastly more equipped with the expertise, infrastructure, and community relationships necessary to effect positive change on literacy access in an underresourced community

US signs Tibet-related bill, China sends serious wrong signal to "Tibetan independence"
In response to the U.S. signing of the "Act to Promote the Resolution of the Tibetan-China Disputes," a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded on Saturday (July 13) that the bill violated the U.S. government's consistent position and commitment and sent a seriously wrong signal to "Tibetan independence" forces. China firmly opposes this and has lodged stern representations with the United States. U.S. President Joe Biden will sign the "Act to Promote the Resolution of Tibet-China Disputes" into law, according to a statement posted in a question-and-answer format on the website of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday. The bill mentions the Dalai Lama's concept of "Greater Tibet" and requires the US government and the "Special Coordinator for Tibetan Affairs" to counter the Chinese government's "Tibet-related false information." U.S. President Biden also issued a statement saying that the bill does not change the long-standing bipartisan policy of the United States, which is to recognize the Tibet Autonomous Region and other Tibetan areas in China as part of China. What is China’s comment on this? The U.S. House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly on June 12 this year to pass the "Act to Promote the Resolution of Tibet-China Disputes." A week later, Mike McCaul, chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, led a cross-party delegation of congressmen to meet with the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India, and stated that China would not be allowed to influence the selection of the Dalai Lama's successor. The spokesperson emphasized that China urges the United States to take concrete actions to abide by its commitment to recognize Tibet as part of China and not support "Tibetan independence" and not to implement the above-mentioned bill. If the United States insists on going its own way, China will take resolute and effective measures to firmly defend its sovereignty, security and development interests. A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the so-called "Act to Promote the Resolution of the Tibet-China Disputes" violates the consistent position and commitment of the U.S. government, violates the basic norms of international relations, grossly interferes in China's internal affairs, seriously harms China's interests, and sends a serious wrong signal to "Tibetan independence" forces. . China firmly opposes this and has lodged stern representations with the United States. The spokesperson pointed out that Tibet has been a part of China since ancient times. Tibetan affairs are purely China's internal affairs and do not allow any external interference. At present, the overall social situation in Tibet is peaceful and harmonious, the economy continues to perform well, people's livelihood and well-being are effectively guaranteed, and it continues to create a new situation of long-term stability and high-quality development. Any attempt by anyone or any force to contain and suppress China by disrupting Tibet will never succeed. The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, went into exile in India after the Lhasa incident in 1959, and later established a Tibetan government-in-exile there that was not recognized by the Chinese central government. Formal talks between the Dalai Lama and his representatives and China have been suspended since 2010, and the Dalai Lama stepped down as leader of the Tibetan government-in-exile in 2011.

Honestly manga Midvalley and trigun 98 Midvalley are basically two different characters
Yea I wanna punch manga Midvalley constantly, but I also find him interesting & a compelling character. The times I've seen 98 Midvalley he just looks so sleazy lmao it makes me REALLY wanna punch him
Tough choices
#speculation nation#thinking about how i have midvalley with a significant role in my fic#& hes currently the character with the most scenes aside from vash bc of it#i have him based Solely on the manga characterization. bc i like him in the manga actually#but then i see 98 midvalley mostly acting as an accessory to Legato's murder sprees via sax solos#& it's like. where's the Realism? the Grumpiness! the utter hatred of his circumstances & fear of the higher powers?!?!?!#manga Midvalley is FASCINATING to me bc he's just like Wolfwood in a way.#caught between these two insane angels' brotherly dispute & hating EVERY second of it#but while Wolfwood rolls with the situation quite well (in large part bc he ends up aligned with Vash & we all know hes a sweetheart)#Midvalley decides he cant handle this anymore and rebels even though he knows it will crash and burn#better to try to live on his own terms than bow to that fucking angel for one more second#even though he knows it will probably kill him. and then it does.#that's fascinating to me!!!! but 98 midvalley feels so 90s anime villain hdkshfjdn#and i just Cant believe they gave him bitches. Midvalley??? with Women??? oh come on just look at him#that man's the kind of gay that refuses to flirt and then wonders why he doesnt get any action#he thinks he's BETTER than dating apps. and then he privately bemoans how alone he is#that or he just doesnt care about romance or sex at All. i could see that too lmfao#bottom line is. Midvalley does not get bitches. he DOESNT. thats just my humble opinion at least.#wow this turned into a ramble. may or may not be prompted by me writing him again. i just have many thoughts about him#trigun spoilers/

me: hey kai, while youre too tired to actually write, you could do minor planning for that silly minecraft au fic your brain is stuck on. you could just come up with usernames and simple stuff.
also me: *creates controversy and backstories for background characters who might not even show up even if i wrote the fic*
also also me: *using my knowledge of spanish to read a wikipedia page in french about tigritude which is a concept created in 1962 by nigerian writer wole soyinka in response to a movement that i think was like affirming négritude, which is a framework of critique and literary theory developed in the 1930s and mostly used by francophones and african diaspora politicians, as an emancipatory concept for black people*
#personal#adhd#this is like full full adhd moments#i was looking for words relates to tiger#found a quote ''a tiger does not shout its tigritude it acts'' and was like what the fuck is tigritude#and the wikipedia is only a ailable in french#i dont speak french#i dont read french#i know like maybe 10 words in french#but i can read spanish and to a lesser extent speak it#so i have spent half an hour reading a wikipedia page in a language i dont speak about a concept reacting to something i know nothing about#i have not heard of négritude before#i imagine if id studied sociology in france i would have#but i studied it in england#but i still read this wiki#his critique i think is like the idea of it is shallow and doesnt address more pressing matters#theres also some dispute between the usefulness of it for anglophones vs francophones#and the difference in black experiences and their relationship to colonisation between anglophones and francophones#wole soyinka still put forth léopold sédar senghors name for the nobelprize for literature in 1970 despite léopold writing négritude pieces#so like idk enemies to lov-ahxkskskskskxkskd#if i translated it correctly aimé césaire who was one of the founders of négritude said it was a good pun#but that it actually showed like societal differences between generations as wole soyinka felt less need to assert his négritude#maybe? i think thats what it said#also i think maybe the quote was first said in a conference of african writers in kampala which i think is the capital of uganda#the website i found the quote on does not seem to have this context also which is fun sjdkdkdldksm#anyway thats enough rambling about my adventures in reading in languages i dont speak djfkskc#im much better at reading portuguese or romanian than french#or like catalan or vasco etc#the gap between spanish and french is a difficult one#i really should not be doing this much like the fatigue has been bad this week and i was meant to be reserving my energy
