So. Shop talk time.

Crystal will be my first, last and only full Sims 4 story.

After struggling for...six months or so now with a proper scene by scene outline for Gen 1 (GEN 1! GEN-F'ING ONE!) for Blossom, starting over and over and over and over and--I have 18 drafts for this thing. Not even my million word plus fanfic has gotten that many drafts I don't--I can't even. But I don't say that to flex. I say this to explain that, after yet another failed drafting attempt didn't work, I had a long sit and think about if I even wanted to tell this story and the answer is...no. I don't. To be completely honest, I'm sick of the Sims 4 and how it plays, how unstable it is as more and more updates are released, and I say that as someone who pirated the damn thing and doesn't update until absolutely necessary. So when I say the thought of having to use it for another 6+ years was heavy...well, yeah, it was heavy.

And I do mean 6+ years. I started playing Gen 1 of Crystal in April 2019 (we don't count Gen 0, that was two days and on rails) and it is now August 2024. Five years later and we're not done with Gen 6! 7 is ready to go, sure, but I still have to play > cap > edit > post > write dialogue for Gens 8, 9, and 10*! At its current pace, Crystal has enough material to last into the early part of 2027. Add three more gens to that and we're looking, probably, at 2030 before it's done. That's a long time. 11 years for 11 gens and one AU (which we also don't count that was on rails too--). Blossom would have been 13 gens and a shorter prologue, so 13 years. That is too long. That is too heavy. As much as I adore some of the concepts I created, I can't have this...thing clinging on for that long. I can't. it does not spark joy, so it will be discarded. Crystal will be finished. I am currently retooling Gens 8 through 10 to incorporate my favorite ideas from Blossom into it, but this thing is over half done and I will not abandon it. After it's finished, this blog will be retired.

If anyone wants to take my sims up for download and use them in their own legacies, please please please please please do so freely!!! That's what I uploaded them for, and when Crystal is done they'll go up, too. *Gen 10, Silver? Yes, my friend. Gen 10. A nice round number...and a nice dramatic ending where we began. :3 You'll see.

Honestly what a wild journey it's been with the sims but I have absolutely loved everything I've learned from this game and this community!

Decided to pick up a Disney Princess Rainbowcy again. Doing @anxiousmoodlet's version. I'm mostly posting it on BSG but I may post a little over here when I'm bored or have nothing to post.

I'm starting with Rosa again [my original DPR founder] because I love her desperately. She's gonna have one partner, have the 7 kids, etc. Her future wife was made for me by the amazing @myheartsimblr :)

Of note, there's no text in this [yet, i can't promise i'll be able to stop myself] and i'm using speech bubbles and icons to convey stuff.

Disney Princess Rainbowcy ~ 10 Generations

What a wild ride this family has been. I cannot believe I did 10 generations! I honestly had plans for Gen 11 (Frozen) but I do not have the energy to see it through. So alas I will put this story to bed and focus on other fun and exciting projects. 

What started as purely gameplay no cc kind of story ended up being one of the most action packed pose inducing projects I have ever done. I have learned so much about the game and storytelling from this family and it’s been amazing to watch myself grow along with them. This legacy started in 2017!!! And now it is finally finished 5 years later (with lots of breaks and such taken in-between lol) 

If you read any or all of their stories I thank you. It’s weird to say goodbye to them all but I’ll be glad to revisit their stories here on this blog from time to time. 

Thank you to these sims. The simmers who donated spouses. And the readers who followed along.

After being banished from the kingdom by her evil stepmother, the queen, the queen's favored knight was meant to kill Perdita so she could never return. Creek couldn't bring himself to hurt the woman he'd been falling in love with, and so brought back a animal heart to "prove" his success. After retiring from service, he retreated to the far away cottage he'd brought her to.

Many years into their marriage, Prince Caspian arrives, looking for the lost princess. Her stepmother's kingdom has fallen, and he sought to marry her. Creek and Perdita moved back to help reestablish her father's kingdom, both slowly coming to love the sweet prince as well. A royal wedding for three is planned, and the group experiences many years of happiness.

As a final blessing on the three's family, a kind fairy grants a certain magic, allowing the birth of Flora, who takes on the attributes and genes of all three parents, instead of two.

Honestly, it doesn’t feel right to call this a “disney princess” rainbowcy,. it’s filled with blood, guts, and murder – the antithesis of what a “disney princess” should be. however, i am basing it off of Sam’s rules, kind of, so i will call it a dpr... for now.

so here’s the story. daemonium is set in the kingdom of chéad-fola, the sangpremier family has ruled over the kingdom for decades, but the social classes of chéad-fola were shattered when the king decided to marry a pretty commoner hailing from a trade city.

that’s where our story begins, and i am no longer the narrator. no, i pass that job over to the queen’s most prized young huntsman, a young man by the name of Evander Sylvan. I will warn you, though: Evander is not the most reliable narrator, but he was the best man for the job. you’ll understand this choice later.

Hello! You are never a bother! I love to answer asks!

The old old rules I used to use when I first completed this challenge can be found HERE! I actually fully completed the Disney Princess Rainbowcy on my old blog.

And I missed it so I revamped it and restarted it. The rules are heckin' outdated considering we have 87 new expansions since then so really I am just going with the flow and doing pure gameplay.

If anyone is interested in some updated gameplay rules, lmk! I could whip some up. But otherwise you can take any of the 1000+ iterations of the Sims Disney Princess Challenge (literally google has so many options. I had no IDEA it was redone so many times!) and just have fun with it!
