So. Shop talk time.

Crystal will be my first, last and only full Sims 4 story.

After struggling for...six months or so now with a proper scene by scene outline for Gen 1 (GEN 1! GEN-F'ING ONE!) for Blossom, starting over and over and over and over and--I have 18 drafts for this thing. Not even my million word plus fanfic has gotten that many drafts I don't--I can't even. But I don't say that to flex. I say this to explain that, after yet another failed drafting attempt didn't work, I had a long sit and think about if I even wanted to tell this story and the answer is...no. I don't. To be completely honest, I'm sick of the Sims 4 and how it plays, how unstable it is as more and more updates are released, and I say that as someone who pirated the damn thing and doesn't update until absolutely necessary. So when I say the thought of having to use it for another 6+ years was heavy...well, yeah, it was heavy.

And I do mean 6+ years. I started playing Gen 1 of Crystal in April 2019 (we don't count Gen 0, that was two days and on rails) and it is now August 2024. Five years later and we're not done with Gen 6! 7 is ready to go, sure, but I still have to play > cap > edit > post > write dialogue for Gens 8, 9, and 10*! At its current pace, Crystal has enough material to last into the early part of 2027. Add three more gens to that and we're looking, probably, at 2030 before it's done. That's a long time. 11 years for 11 gens and one AU (which we also don't count that was on rails too--). Blossom would have been 13 gens and a shorter prologue, so 13 years. That is too long. That is too heavy. As much as I adore some of the concepts I created, I can't have this...thing clinging on for that long. I can't. it does not spark joy, so it will be discarded. Crystal will be finished. I am currently retooling Gens 8 through 10 to incorporate my favorite ideas from Blossom into it, but this thing is over half done and I will not abandon it. After it's finished, this blog will be retired.

If anyone wants to take my sims up for download and use them in their own legacies, please please please please please do so freely!!! That's what I uploaded them for, and when Crystal is done they'll go up, too. *Gen 10, Silver? Yes, my friend. Gen 10. A nice round number...and a nice dramatic ending where we began. :3 You'll see.

Founder Fun Time 1/8

Decided to get all my founders [that i still have] together to play around and have some fun as we approach all the wonderful celebrations of the season. Their ages are based on when I first started working on their saves/when i made them, with the youngest being this year and the oldest being around 12 years ago now! List of those in the shot below the cut:

Karmel - Burnt Sugar/Around The Mulberry Bush My first legacy/rainbowcy founder! He was made in TS3 originally, and his family’s story ran 5 generations.

Dapple - Prism Pop!/Ashes to Ashes I originally made Dapple as an extra for Burnt Sugar back in TS3. When I got into doing BPRs she got remade in TS4.

Silver Bell - Mystical Magical Moppets One of my first TS4 founders! She was the founder of a 100 baby challenge on my old blog that got 2 generations in. I’ve attempted to restart it on my youtube channel but keep forgetting to edit the videos i’ve done.

Rosa - It Takes A Queen Founder of my original Disney Princess Rainbowcy, Rosa is in fact berry, despite looking more Vanilla!

Urs - Kismet Made for a Tarot Storytelling Challenge, Urs has resurfaced this year as my History Challenge founder!

Rosewater - Dacquoise Delights Founder of my Pastel Patisserie Challenge playthrough, this one is a perpetual WIP, with me re-shooting the first generation when it got ported to this blog.

Bee - Perfect Sim Challenge A never posted challenge, Bee was the founder of my Perfect Sim gameplay. 

Vinca - Floret, A BPR Founder of a supernatural BPR I was writing for a while that took on a new view on storytelling where it was told through the main character recording their thoughts on a video camera. This one was scrapped when I lost all i’d written :(

Daisy Luminosity - BPR CAS Legacy My first CAS Legacy! This one is no longer on the blog, but I still have the sims and pics if anyone wants me to repost it.

Aspen - Stardew Valley Challenge Another unposted gem, this one I still have the pictures for. It was going to be story heavy talking about Aspen’s life in Stardew Valley. Complete with banilla’d characters from the game it was fun to play!

Mint Chip & Papaya Rose - Tea-Too Not So Berry From my NSB Portrait/CAS Legacy, these were the founders! It was also kind of a perfect genetics challenge, where the kids needed Mint’s eyes, and Papaya’s magic to become heir. Needless to say there are a lot of kids in this save. Dahlia - Literary Twist A secret squirrel project i’ll one day finish!

Pearl Semibreve - LMDS/LMDS CAS Legacy Founder of my failed LMDS and ongoing LMDS CAS Legacy, Pearl is a sim I love and hope to be able to use elsewhere.

Meadow - Seven Songs CAS Legacy To be honest, Meadow should be further up on the list. I made her several years ago but her story never took off. Imagine finding a portal that took you elsewhere in the world, or to another dimension. What would happen if you found someone who had fallen through? And you fell in love?

Winter - Genesis The protagonist of my NaNoWrimo work, and the founder of what will hopefully be a very interesting story. Stay tuned for this one, it’s due to start in 2021!

Obviously, I have a lot of founders. And this isn’t even all of them!

Gwendolyn Gamble: The only 100BC founder I’ve ever connected to, and thus kept. There’s something about her that I just love! In game, she’s had about 31 (!!) kids, and I’m not tired of her yet.

Squash Bite: She’s my berry random legacy founder. She’s not the first random legacy founder I have, but she’s certainly the most popular.

Anchor Shallows: My Tarot Storytelling Challenge founder. Poor, unfortunate soul.

Juniper Cromwell: Founder of my Disney Princess Challenge! She’s eventually going to get a reboot over on my vanilla sideblog. Her story was a little rushed and I’d like to take the time to give it the attention she deserves.

Patronum Butterbeer: My best girl!! Patronum is the founder of my Butterbeer Berry Pastel Rainbowcy. My BPR is currently in it’s eighth gen, and the Butterbeers have really become my Brand. I feel like I, like so many of you, have a really strong emotional tie to this pixel family.

Bayou Kitsch: She’s the founder of my latest random legacy, over on my sideblog. She’s a werewolf living in Strangerville with her wife.

Penny Dreadful: Who is this?? My Not So Berry Founder! I haven’t (and probably won’t) posted my NSB here, but I’ve been playing it pretty often. I love a good goth with a punny name.

Cherry Envy: Another stranger? I started a LMDS challenge, and whether I continue/post is still pending. But she sure is a cutie!

Founders CAS Challenge

Rules: Post all of your founders together.

I’ve included some sims from upcoming stories that I’m planning. See below for more info on them.

1. Delilah Rai- She was my Berry Pastel Rainbowcy founder. She loves to paint on the shores of Sulani. You can read her story here: X

2. Snowdrop Winter- My Disney Princess Rainbowcy founder. I love her, I just think she’s so cute! I hadn’t played with berry sims in a while, so she and this story got me loving my berries again. You can read her story here: X

3. Kenzie Silverbrooke- She’s going to be my Not So Berry founder. She’s just your typical half human/half demon girl who loves science and playing pranks.

4. Sunrise Fantasy- She is going to be my La Musique Des Sims founder. Her story will be loosely based on one of my favorite movies: The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

5. Willow and Sage Gemini- They are going to be my Astrology Legacy founders. They cute, I haven’t planned out the story yet.

6. Cabbage “Cabby” Everlast- He is going to be my Seven Songs founder. I made him on a whim and he was too cute not to use.

Disney Berry Rainbowcy Challenge Mashup

Hi! You’ve probably heard of and love the Disney Princess Legacy Challenge, and maybe even a Berry Rainbowcy? Well,if you like those, you’ve come to the right place, this is the Disney Berry Rainbowcy. This is a mashup of the two challenges, along with some changes and additions. I will admit, I made this a little more difficult than it should be, however, you are allowed to change this in any way you want to suit your capabilities. This is set up to be a 17 (Eventually more) Generation challenge, but you may lower it however you feel fit. I hope you enjoy!

Guidelines:

1: No cheating except for resetting sims, or story progression mods such as MCCC

2: Paint/Photograph the heir for each generation and hang it in the house. Each Generation must max the painting skill.

3: You may lock/unlock sections of the house for certain sims to match the generation. (Rapunzel can only access the tower for example)

4: You do not have to do all of the generations, nor do you have to do all of them in order.

5: If you don’t have a feature because of a pack, replace it with a closely relating feature. I will also have a second option that is base game for any of the things that are from a pack

6: All generations are allowed to be any gender except Snow White

7: You may skip the Baby stage if you’d like.

8: Play on any life length, Normal or Long are recommended.

9: Move out extra children when new generations start, into a new household

10: Every generation needs to complete their aspiration, and a skill, none require a maxed career.

11: The heir is always the last born child

12: When moving in a spouse you may not take in any money (use the “money _____” cheat to set your money back)

13: As this is a berry rainbowcy, it will be virtually impossible without Berry CC,

@noodlescc​ makes amazing CC made specifically for Berry Sims, and she is the resource I’m using for my own game.

Building:

Move into the largest lot you own, (50x50/64x64) and bulldoze. Build whatever you need with your remaining money. I recommend to make your house into a castle or a medieval house over time to fit the theme, of course this is optional. You must remain in this lot for the remainder of the challenge, so make it pretty!!

Generation 1: Snow White

White, Pink Spouse

Founders have humble beginnings, so what's better than Snow White? To start, create Snow White. When Snow White moves into the biggest lot available, this story begins.

Super Parent (Big Happy Family) Creative, Music Lover, Perfectionist

Must be female

Paint/Collect/Photograph/etc for money, no real job

Each child must have the same baby daddy (Pink)

Marry the father and move in together if desired

Each child and teen must get an A in school to age up*
