The old old rules I used to use when I first completed this challenge can be found HERE! I actually fully completed the Disney Princess Rainbowcy on my old blog.

And I missed it so I revamped it and restarted it. The rules are heckin' outdated considering we have 87 new expansions since then so really I am just going with the flow and doing pure gameplay.

If anyone is interested in some updated gameplay rules, lmk! I could whip some up. But otherwise you can take any of the 1000+ iterations of the Sims Disney Princess Challenge (literally google has so many options. I had no IDEA it was redone so many times!) and just have fun with it!

Wicked Games

introduction, chapter 1

Summary: Chris is suffering from a nasty addiction and is desperate to find the right person to help him get out of it.

Warnings: slight smut, male receiving, cursing, drug use, alcohol use

WELCOME!! I was scared to post this, but then I was like, you know what? fuck it let’s do it. Anyway, this is my first EVER series on here I’m excited and nervous at the same time!

I hope you all enjoy this introduction!.. ig I’ll call it that.

"Watch your teeth," Chris tells the girl who is currently on her knees in front of him, she looks up at him as he grabs a fist full of her hair guiding her head up and down. He throws his head back, "Fuck, there we go, much better,"

He looked back down at the girl as she swirled her tongue around the tip of his penis, making him groan. "Come on, don't tease me," He huffed, turning his head towards the door as he heard shuffling and laughter. He looked back at the girl who was still going to town on him and let his eyes roll to the back of his head, leaning his head back and looked up at the ceiling, feeling dizzy as his vision started to spin and all the laughter from the other side of the door seem far away.

Of course, it was edibles, a joint, and only who knows how many shots he was gone. But to him, he felt amazing, like nothing would feel better than how he felt right now. He loved every minute of his high and wished it would never go away, but it did, and that's when he turned miserable again.

He does take knowledge of his bad addiction, every time he thinks about it he feels about cleaning up and staying sober, but he always ends up not taking his own advice. What's terrible is that he blames people for his addiction, "nobody cares to even help me sober up or even care to encourage me to stop," He felt alone in this world and is in desperate need of someone to save him, he doesn't care who he just wants that somebody to care about him.

His high was ruined when the girl on her knees in front of him decided to scrape her teeth on him once again, he winced looking down at her, "Yeah, you're done here," He pushed her off of him earning a confused look from her. He picked up his pants, buttoning them back up, "Go bite someone else's dick," He hated when his high was ruined, it put him in a bad mood, but that didn't stop him from getting high again.

He walked out of the room, leaving the girl shocked, probably still on her knees. He didn't care.

"Smoke some, drink some pop one"

The song blasts through the house, which holds a party every year school starts. The house belongs to one of the popular hockey players, who invites Chris to every party he hosts. This is the time and place where Chris can easily let loose. He makes his way back to the corner where he always goes with his best buddy, Nate.

"Oh wow, that was quick," Chris laughed, eyeing the joint that was held in between Nate's fingers, "Give me that," He pointed to it. Nate shook his head, moving it away from him, "Nah, you stole my first one. You ain't taking this one," Chris's face dropped, "I almost got my dick eaten off, and you're seriously doing this to me?" Nate's eyes widened as he heard what Chris told him, but then he laughed, shaking his head.

"This is legit the second time you almost went dickless," Nate said to him. Chris looked away from him, watching people walk in and out of the house, "Just give me that damn blunt," He heard Nate scoff, taking another hit before passing it to Chris, who gladly took it from his hand, "Thats what I thought," Taking a hit immediately, Nate shakes his head eyeing him as he does so. The look he gives Chris is mixed with concern and disgust, He's worried about his best friend's health and his addiction, but also disgusted with himself, the guilt he feels washes through him constantly as he is always the one to supply him with stuff and never has the guts to say no.

Chris looked back at the crowd behind him, his eyes landed on someone he couldn't stand, and his face turned sour from even looking at him. Taking one last hit, he passed the blunt back to Nate.

"Life of the party arrived," Chris said, turning his head again towards where "the life of the party" was. Mateo Hansley, on the football team, everyone knows him, but Chris despises him ever since he found out his ex was cheating on him with him. To this day, his ex still tries her all to get him back, and he sometimes finds himself considering it, but Nate pushes him back from it, telling him it's not a good idea, "Oh how cute, I'm surprised his stuck up girlfriend is not with him," Chris looked back at Nate, "Who's that?" He asked him.

"You don't know? Y/n Laurier, snobby little bitch, cheer team," He still didn't have a clue, squinting at Nate, who sighed, looking over at Mateo, "Best friends with the girl you took to the room over there," Chris now had his eyebrows raised, "Damn well, I hope she knows her bestie loves to bite off dicks," Nate laughs at him shaking his head, finishing off the blunt before he gets up from his seat, patting Chris's shoulder, "Lucky you still have yours,"

"Come on mister I'm always feining, I think we need some air and maybe touch some grass while we're at it," Nate said to him as he began to walk through the crowd and towards the door that led to the back yard, Chris rolled his eyes. "I think I'm okay," He muttered, taking the seat where Nate was sitting before he got up. He observed the crowd in front of him, looking at the people dancing, taking shots, smoking, and seeing people making out with one another.

"You look lonely," He sat up straight and looked around, trying to figure out if he actually heard that or if it was just his high messing with him, but no, he found someone actually sitting next to him, A girl he had never seen before, she looked at him with raised eyebrows, he looked back at her with the same expression, he opens his mouth to say something back but she beats him to it, "I'm real, and I'm really sitting next to you" She laughs at him, he does the same rubbing his forehead while shaking his head.

"Um, are you okay?" He snaps back to reality for a bit, looking behind her at the group of girls taking shots together, the girl next to him stays staring at him, waiting for him to speak, Wow this guy is high in the clouds, her mind said. "Oh yeah, I'm perfect! Also, I’m not alone I'm with my friend," He smiled at her answering her question, watching her nod awkwardly, You can just get up and walk away you know.

He wondered why she was still sitting here, getting annoyed a bit. "So, like, the real question is, what are you doing here alone?" he asked her this time. Her eyes traveled all the way down to his shoes, examining him like he were some object. He looked away from her quickly, biting his lip so that he wouldn't curse her out.

"I'm not alone I'm actually with my boyfriend, but who knows where he is right now," She shrugged letting out a breath, he looked at her suspiciously now, "And who's that?" The question came out of his mouth slowly. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "Mateo Hansley," She answered, and he widened his eyes. Speak of the devil, holy shit.

"I need to touch some grass," he mutters before getting up quickly and walking away. She sits there confused, watching him walk out the door leading to the backyard. "Stoner," she shook her head but then shrugged. Standing on her feet now, she continues to search for her boyfriend.

but yes i have advice for you anon! last time i went job hunting i got serious enough where i was reading 'askamanager' blogs and shit like that to really make sure i wasn't wasting my effort

so kendra's advice to job hunting in the most effort effective way:

first and most importantly is to understand that job hunting rn is simply a numbers game. it's not you it's just that the society we're living in is full of shit. for every 10 job postings, 4 are fake, 1 has an internal candidate in mind already, 3 are just posting jobs to look good and the rest are legit but slow af

bc job hunting is a numbers game its easy to be discouraged if you're not receiving responses consistently as proof that you're not just throwing shit into the void so its superrr imperative to try your best to apply to legit jobs. ive found my best success using indeed as a method of jobs being brought to me and then going on the company website myself and applying. this also doubles as a way to make sure a job posting/company is real

keep a spreadsheet of applied jobs. i just googled 'job application spreadsheet template' and picked one of the first ones i saw, made a copy, and then modified it to suit my needs. keeping a spreadsheet was one of the best things i did bc it can help keep track of jobs you've found and haven't applied to/ones you have applied to/and if you're like me and had a goal of getting a state job i could pre-empt when the interview requests were gonna come in lol 😭

resumes/cover letters. whew. probably the most important part of job hunting. ai scanning or not its a good rule of thumb to have skills mentioned in the job description to match the job posting. what i did was dedicate a folder in my google drive to job stuff and made a folder for each kind of jobs i was interested in. from there i would find a job i wanted to apply to and tailor an old resume to have a bunch of the shit mentioned in the posting on the new resume. i'd save it in the appropriate folder with the date i edited it. if you haven't been in the habit of tailoring your resume you may be doing this a lot but eventually you'll have so many variations you won't have to do much editing if at all. and i do the same with cover letters. i have a general template for my cover letter and then tweak them for each kinds of jobs im looking for. this + ditching linkedin helped me A LOT

create an interview cheatsheet. you probably already know the job hunting sphere has a language and culture all its own. personally as someone with a touch of the 'tism it do not make sense to me so i have unknowingly not navigated interviews as well as i could have. what's helped? ask a manager. seriously. miss allison has helped me blend in as a normie soooo much 😭😭😭😭 if you have any specific questions/have any specific weaknesses just search the site but what really helped me was the list of good interview questions. oh and for the longest i could never come up with a good question to ask my interviewer but one day google recced me this article and now every time i ask 'so what would separate a good candidate from an excellent candidate in this role' and when i tell you my interviewers gag every time lollllll. i also went through 'boost your interview iq' [pdf download link here <3] and jotted down notes on how i can answer common interview questions to quickly be able to go over the night before

study the job posting before the interview btw and try to drum up at least one correlating anecdote for some of the major points of the job bc they WILL ask you that lollllllll

My blood clot pain has reached a weird point where it's kinda better as long as I don't use my hand for literally anything at all, but when it does flare it's straight up AGONY like a solid 7-8 on the pain scale and unfortunately it seems like this pain is no longer responding well to my current 5mg oxycodone, and like the last ER doctor I saw *tried* to prescribe me 7.5mg ones 'cuz she legit said 5mg probably wouldn't cut it, but my insurance straight up would not cover it and the cost without was $500(and that's with the best coupon I could find) and the ER doctor didn't have the time to put a prior auth through and just gave me the 5mg stuff(and I had to pay out of pocket for those too bcs my insurance would only cover a week's supply but they were at least only $40) so I guess my options are

1) go insane playing it as safe as possible not using my hand for anything and only taking the meds when I absolutely cannot stand the pain and pray I can hold out until I see my endovascular surgeon on friday

OR 2) go back to the ER and see if they can do the prior auth and pray my insurance will cover more than a weeks supply and also that the ER doesn't interpret this as drug seeking behavior and turn me down

I think what I am gonna do is again play it as safe as I can and try to only use the meds once a day if I can help it, and in the meantime call my insurance and see if they can give me a list if meds they do cover(tbh it's weird for oxy to cost this much, a similar supply for my dog was like $5 and I did talk to someone who works for my insurance the other day for a different reason and she also seemed shocked it wasn't covered and was so expensive) and hope that I can last until my follow up with my endovascular surgeon and double extra hope I'm either recovered a lot more by then or if I'm not that he'll have a plan to help resolve it faster or at least be willing to prescribe me one of the covered meds and do whatever prior auth is needed. Plus that way if the pain does get unbearable before then the list will help the ER give me something that will help better(if they are cool and don't assume this is drug seeking behavior).

This whole thing genuinely sucks so fucking bad, I'm in agony rn debating if I should take another pill before bed and risk building up even more of a resistance or try to thought it out to save my meds for if it somehow gets worse than this. I'm so fucking tired too I've avoiding my usual insomnia edibles AND my remaining ambien in case they react badly with the oxy and kill me in my sleep or something and that plus the agony mean's I'm not sleeping well and the agony is thus harder to deal with and my pressure headaches get worse cuz not sleeping us a major trigger and the cycle just spirals worse and worse, and I can't do anything fun in bed cuz I'd usually play video games and those require two hands and AOUHDGJKL I fucking HATE this!!!

Ima just try to tough it out and sleep and see where I'm at tomorrow and make that call regardless. Hopefully this doesn't drive me too insane and I can maybe sit at my desk, getting out of bed would do me some good atm. I need to feel normal for just one fucking day.

I love wario. I love mario and luigi. I love Mario & Luigi. I even love waluigi. But for the love of god would I hate to have them all in the same room. Here is why:

Wario would never be part of a team that he couldn't be in charge of, much less one with Mario in it. Wario has his own life, his own goals, and his own social circle, none of which have anything to do with mario. He's his own man now

On a similar note, Wario's whole schtick is (ironically) being unique from Mario. Wario Land is a mario game if you tailored every single game mechanic to his very soul, such that it is so distinct that we call other games "wariolikes". To make Wario conform to the game mechanics of a Mario game, RPG or not, would make me very upsetti spaghetti

Also, Waluigi and Wario are NOT EVEN FRIENDS!!! At best, they are exes that sometimes bully people together when they are invited to the same party (if you subscribe to Poppadopolos theory, which I do). At worst, they are simply guys that are not friends, that sometimes bully people together when they are invited to the same party. I DO NOT want waluigi and wario to share a legit game together because I feel this goes against everything we know about the Wahs.

On a related note, I am of the staunch opinion that Waluigi deserves better than to be scaffolded into someone else's series. Luigi has Luigi's Mansion, Wario has WarioWare/Wario Land, and Mario has everything else. If Waluigi gets "his own game", it should be a place where he can build his own identity proper rather than piggybacking off of someone else as usual

So you can understand why this is not something on my wishlist (because I am a fun-hating asshole). That being said, for the purposes of this thought exercise, let's say that miyamoto himself is holding me at gunpoint and telling me I can't have any more microgames until I make this happen. Here is how I would approach this concept in a way that is least likely to make me go insane:

I wouldn't make it a M&L game, it would be its Own Thing. This is so that the mario & luigi series can continue to feature mario & luigi while opening up the possibility for this concept of all 4 guys working together to have (sigh) a sequel.

The thing that makes this all happen is that in the first chapter the Big Bad Guy of the week somehow transports/knocks the overall men into a deep and inescapable chasm (a volcano, a nightmare, a inside of a whale, whateverthefuck) and you start as mario and have to find luigi.

Along the way you find everyone except luigi. You have to fight wario and waluigi separately before they begrudgingly agree to join your party.

Because you're all kind of fucked they suck it up and decide to work together with each other and mario just to get the hell out of there. Maybe you can shoehorn luigi's superjump ability in here to justify why the other guys would give a damn about finding luigi.

You find luigi.

Once you get out of the Hole Situation you have all 4 guys in your "party" and find out that you all have to work together to save the world super paper mario style. I still don't know if this would be sufficient motivation for either wario or waluigi but something will be in it for them. I guess.

I think Wario should be able to pick up and use Waluigi as various tools (e.g. hammer, crowbar, pole vault), because he is a tool. I don't know it just feels right

Alternatively (or in addition to that), I think it would be fun to have different pair combos of guys you can use at a time, each with their own benefits. Obviously mario+luigi and wario+waluigi would be an option but it would also be fun to explore the potential synergy between wildcard combos like wario+luigi and waluigi+mario

The penultimate boss is wario+waluigi randomly betraying you and using all the skills and EXP you taught them along the way. They behave after you kick their ass though

5. Steven; Pokemon Sapphire/ Ruby

I was super into Pokemon as a kid and Sapphire, while not the first Pokemon game I played-- that technically was Crystal but my younger bro wanted to play that so I had to switch-- was the first Pokemon game I beat. I was so fucking thrilled when I beat him late at night I had tears streaming down my face and everything

4. 10th Colossus; Shadow of the Colossus

So in terms of scope and atmosphere like every colossus is like top tier but there's something so exciting about this one swimming after you under the sand and you see those huge fucking eyes glowing at you while you're frantically trying to shoot them out without hitting a wall/ it crushing you with its jaws

3. Rom; Bloodborne

so this one is kind of a cheat bc I actually fucking HATE this boss battle in terms of how it plays mostly bc I hate mob bosses that being said. The first time I beat her we actually killed each other at the same time and my heart was beating like crazy and I screamed bc I had no clue if it counted or not BUT IT DID and bc of that she gave me one of the best boss fight experiences of my life.....

2. Barthandelus; FFXIII

This is mostly for the spectacle of the fight I just really like his design and the OST and there's one attack he does where he like opens up his whole face and just launches a bunch of lasers at you and I think that's the coolest fucking shit

Xemnas; KH2

This is the most fun I've had doing a boss fight ever I literally had a save on my PS2 dedicated to just being before the final Xemnas boss rush and would play it constantly. I even like the parts that objectively suck about it I DONT CAREEEEE its so hype this was one of my fav games when I was younger and that final boss was like the icing on the cake all the forms he has..... dude is attacking you by hurling buildings at you I love it. The whole like tiers of grandiosity and then the final final you just fighting him with the transient clone stuff he has going on ANYWAY. This is my legit fav boss battle

So my thoughts on the matchups that are probably coming for Death Battle are;

Bardock vs. Omni-Man: Nolan legit gets a second matchup before anyone else in Invincible does. Still, this is a very requested match-up and I know a lot of people who didn't want Omni-Man Vs. Homelander wanted THIS instead. Outcome wise, its actually quite tight from what people are saying so a close fight could be exciting.

Bowser vs. Eggman: OH YEAH BIG VILLAIN time. Given how both sides got fucked in their previous battles (Eggman vs. Wily was a cop-out with Metal Sonic and Ganondorf vs. Bowser was a battle people hate the outcome of) hopefully this battle gives both sides more respect, especially since their villainy has been more focused on their cinematic debuts. Plus Eggman says "I HAVE COME TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCMENT." 10/10 there.

Light vs. Columbo: Not terribly into both franchises so don't have strong opinions here on how the fight will go. Still be interesting to see Tsurugi's spirit animal in a battle.

Kratos vs. Asura: What's the point of the Championship Bracket if the runner up still gets in? I know Kratos and Asura were runners up twice but still doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. Maybe its a expection due to the whole going independent thing.

Ben 10 vs. Green Lanturn Rematch: Easily the most disliked outcome of them all. While a rematch WON'T change the outcome as DC is so busted there is no way Ben can match up to what Hal has done, hopefully the rematch would make things more respectable for the Ben 10 side, show off more aliens, and don't do a "Time eh?" which is still used for memes for bad outcomes.

Yang vs. Tifa Rematch: This rematch WILL have a different outcome as I'm 100% sure the reason Yang won last time was because Rooster Teeth told Death Battle to make her win, but since they are no more they cannot do that anymore. Especially as now people can see how Final Fantasy stuff outclasses anything from RWBY.

Master Chief Vs. Doomguy Rematch: Do it in 3D. That is the best way to make this better. I know why the OG was in 2D at the time but now we have different styles it would be criminal to not go 3D for this fight. I don't know if the outcome will change but since we have had new Halo and Doom games since the last match, that could change things.

And that's that. Of course the rematches will be voted on if we get the funds in but seeing how fast the money is coming in, it will be reached. So who do you think will win the rematch vote? Let us know your thoughts on the matches announced.

//I really liked Omni-Man VS Homelander; it is one of my top episodes, at least of that season, but I do agree that this was not a fair fight even slightly. It was more relevant at the time, but it's true that Bardock does have quite a fair few more similarities. For Homelander, you could boil their connections down to how they're both secretly evil superhero's that both parody Superman. But for Bardock, both of them are of alien origin (One is a Saiyan, while the other is a Viltrumite, both races who are known in their respective universes for being battle-hungry, near unstoppable savages), who are the blood father's of their series' respective hero's (Goku and Mark), and have complicated relationships with their families. Both of them also, despite their proven dedication to their race, betrayed their own kind (Nolan's time on Earth and with his family lead to a personal crisis, where he eventually questioned and rebelled against his mission and the Viltrumites, and Bardock, after a series of visions about the Saiyan's annihilation, rebelled against Frieza and unsuccessfully tried to save his planet), and both have been portrayed as both a hero and a villain. So the connections do run deeper with them, and it should be a good fight regardless.

//I already said what I needed to say about Eggman VS Bowser; I'm VERY pumped for it, not just because it's been a long time coming, but because like you said, Bowser and Eggman have both been kind of misused and mishandled by Death Battle in the past, so they both really need this.

//I have no stake in Light VS Columbo. I don't think it's gonna happen, and more than that, I don't know HOW it's gonna happen because neither character has shown any feats of strength before, so it'll be a battle of wits more than anything. From what little I do know about though, I think if Columbo could gather sufficient evidence without revealing his suspicions too early, thereby avoiding becoming a target for the Death Note, he could get the upper hand and win.

//Kratos VS Asura WILL happen soon, I guarantee it. But I doubt it'll happen in this season since it was on the ballot. Maybe in two seasons time we'll finally get it, especially since it is still an insanely popular matchup.

//And as for what I think will be the rematch episode that was teased, it could be any number of things, but I think out of all the previous episodes, it will be Ben 10 VS Green Lanturn that gets rerun. Given that it's still the most controversial episode of the original series, and Goku and Superman got a third episode to iron out the creases of their previous blunders, it's only natural that they get the same treatment. But Yang VS Tifa is for sure one that could get it as well; but I'm not sure if Death Battle will be running any more RWBY episodes.

//Speaking of which, I do predict that depending on how many episodes there are for this next season, I suspect that we might be getting Ruby Rose VS Maka Albarn at some point; maybe for Episode 100. I'd still like to see it, despite everything.

so me and hyacinth were reading through the comments on the Horse-Themed Gender Reveal Party post, which is kind of a wild ride because it's just absolutely full of the most insane rationalizations of cishet gender nonsense and a truly baffling lack of reading comprehension, but one thing stood out to me so much that i NEED to write a post about it. i need to write about economics now. i'm sorry but my whole body is vibrating. i haven't utilized my mathematics/game theory degree in SO LONG you have to understand. ok here we go

so among the various comments defending the extravagant Horse-Themed Gender Reveal Party, there were quite a few comments along these lines:

i think these arguments are extremely interesting because they are, in my opinion, wrong... but subtly wrong, which is the most interesting way to be wrong. i don't really care about the comments that are like "well i don't know what cis means and anyway gay people do stuff like this too" because that means nothing. but these arguments about economics? they're legit interesting. let's unpack!

so the core argument, in all these cases, can be paraphrased as follows:

"Even if wealthy people are spending money on something lavish and extravagant and ridiculous and pointless, they're creating jobs, they're allowing poorer people to do work and get paid, right? So this is a good thing, ultimately."

and i think this is an excellent time to introduce to you the concept of opportunity cost and the window fallacy.

what is opportunity cost? well - to put it simply, it's the cost of a transaction that results from missing out on the "opportunity" to do something else. in more precise terms: in a situation where you must choose between several mutually exclusive alternatives, it's the value of the best alternative you didn't choose.

here's an example: suppose i spend $5 on a nice coffee. the straightforward way to analyze the result of this transaction would be to say: i lost $5, i gained a cup of coffee, so my "return" on this investment is whatever i deem the coffee to be worth. maybe it's a really, really nice coffee, in fact so yummus that it tastes like $7. then i basically walked away with $2 more "value" than i had before! wahoo!

what goes unseen in this scenario is the opportunity cost of everything else i could have done with those $5. i had other options, after all: i could have spent it on a pastry instead, or some fruit and vegetables, or maybe i could have put it in my savings account and earned a barely perceptible amount of interest on it, or i could have given it to a friend. every single one of those options is now lost to me, since the $5 is spent: i have missed out on the opportunity to do these things. thus, the "cost" of my coffee transaction isn't just the cost involved in getting the coffee itself; it's also the cost of closing off every other opportunity i had. maybe, if i'd bought some lovely pastries with my $5, they would have been so delicious as to taste like $10. then i actually missed out on $3 of value by buying the coffee instead!

opportunity cost is a pretty simple concept to understand, but easy to overlook, because it is inherently "unseen"; these are all the things that didn't happen, after all, so it's impossible to account for every single possibility here.

now, let's use this concept to address a very interesting logical fallacy in economics: the window fallacy.

the window fallacy was first described by economist Frédéric Bastiat, in his appropriately named essay That Which We See and That Which We Do Not See. in it, he uses the concept of opportunity cost to address the question: does society benefit from wanton destruction, from wasteful actions? he provides the following example (paraphrasing):

suppose someone accidentally smashes my window, and a bystander says to me: "well, it's not so bad, at least this creates jobs for all the glaziers, right? if we never broke any windows there'd be no work for the people whose job it is to repair windows!"

and there's a logic to this claim, certainly. this unfortunate accident has brought some profit to the glazier who eventually comes to fix my window; suppose they get paid $100 to repair it. then the act of destroying the window has brought $100 into the glassmaker's business! wahoo for them!

but it would, obviously, be insane and fallacious to suggest that going around breaking windows on purpose is "good for the economy". what goes unseen in this equation is the opportunity cost of fixing the broken window. if i have to spend $100 on having my window repaired, then i am not spending that money on things like food, healthcare, rent and bills - or, for that matter, going to some other business and spending my money there. the cost of the broken window includes all the things that i now cannot do with my $100 that i otherwise would have done.

what Bastiat illustrates with his example is that we cannot simply argue that an action benefits society because it "creates jobs"; we must also look at all the missed opportunities, all the things that could be happening if that job was never needed.

and this leads us back, after a somewhat circuitous journey, to the Horse-Themed Gender Reveal Party. is it true that luxurious, extravagant displays of wealth like these create jobs for gardeners, caterers, waitstaff, et cetera? yes, it certainly is! but let's also ask ourselves what the opportunity cost is of such things. every dollar the wealthy elite spends on a lavish party is one that isn't spent on other things: on someone's healthcare or rent, on infrastructure, on research, on education. every hour a cleaner spends picking up blue or pink confetti, whether they get paid or not, is an hour they're not spending doing something else: studying, relaxing at home, reading a book, or, you know, getting paid to clean somewhere else.

now, there's obviously a line to be drawn somewhere here, because frivolous things are not valueless. it wouldn't do to advocate for an economy where nobody ever does anything frivolous. if i were to suggest that throwing parties is always bad because that money could be spent on philanthropy or something, then you should rightly bonk me with a stick and then discuss consequentialist moral philosophy with me. (after that we could maybe start making out, angrily.)

but, once someone reaches a certain level of wealth, you really have to ask yourself what the opportunity cost is of garish Horse-Themed Gender Reveal parties. if an ordinary person hosts a wedding and invites some friends and family and buys a nice dress and rents a fancy restaurant, then you could probably meaningfully argue that the joy this brings into people's lives - getting to live in a world where weddings happen every once in a while - is worth the cost, is worth the missed opportunities. a life where nobody parties would be pretty dull. but wealth, true wealth in excess, is always built on someone else's back.

there were probably some chefs, brewers and florists who got paid handsomely for this spectacle. just don't forget about all that which goes unseen.

It all started back when Soonyoung thought you should go out more—staying in your apartment like a hermit crab during what is supposed to be “the best four years of your life” is technically not the way to go about college, but how could you when the comforts of your dream couch (that you credit yourself for purchasing second-hand) is practically singing your name like a Siren’s song? But that was rudely interrupted when Soonyoung dragged you out of your own home and to a houseparty, where you met the sweetest and purest boy ever, the one who you’d least expect to sweep you off your feet. He made your heart stutter in its beats, nostalgic to the way you felt in your middle school years. 

Even now, when you’re sitting in front of him on the lawn outside of your university, you can’t help but sneak glances in his direction. His hair is a chestnut brown, the result of an impulsive decision made from a random Friday night at Soonyoung’s frat house that was heavily influenced by mixing alcohol. Truthfully, despite the cause, the effect practically got you emoting those heart eyes. 

All to the point that you miss it when he says your name a solid five times.

“Hey,” he reiterates, waving a hand to your face. Heat rushes to your cheeks immediately, and you wish you were drowning in that water bottle he’s holding. The smile that tugs on the edges of his mouth only causes your chest to tighten and your stomach to churn. “Finally got your attention. What’ve you been daydreaming about?”

You. Obviously. “Oh, nothing,” you nod, pulling your lips into a straight line. You could hear Soonyoung snickering on the side, eavesdropping while pretending to read his book on the picnic blanket. “I just–yaknow. Tired. Think I got a head cold or something.” Quick save.

“Ah! Right, that reminds me,” Joshua is quick to grab his backpack to place on his lap, sifting through the contents vicariously. “Let me show you something, I’m sure you’ll like it!”

You’ll like it? He thought of you? Surely, he’s a friend of your friend, and you both never really hung out besides with Soonyoung, but Joshua doesn’t think of you–or well, does he? Especially since, well, he just said he does?

Then, he pulls a red packet from his bag. “Here, try this.”

You furrow your brows, taking it from his hand. “What’s… this?”

“Red ginseng sticks! I saw these from the store the other day, and I thought of you because you’re always talking about how weak your immune system is. Try it!”

Blinking blankly, you slowly reach to tear the bag as Soonyoung sits up abruptly. “What the–” he snatches it from your grip, flipping the packet front and back. “Holy shit, this is real. You got her the legit stuff.”

Joshua rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. “What about it?”

“These are fucking expensive! Shit, my mom would be dying to have some of these, how much did you pay for them?”

“It–It doesn’t really matter,” Joshua steals it back to hand it to you. “As long as she feels better…” that’s when your eyes lock; those chocolate irises are as enticing as a hypno wheel. “… Right?”

The worst thing about Blasphemous is that they never added Achievements for any of the expansions (fyi: all included in the price of the game now).

Stir of Dawn added New Game+ with three choices of “Penitence” that make the game harder (you can only do one per run, and each gives you a unique bead on the next NG+), a series of five new bosses, and a gold sink donation box that gives you a bunch of bonuses, including a unique skin when you max it out.

Strife and Ruin added a Boss Rush mode, a series of five platforming challenges (that are part of a crossover with Bloodstained), and new prayers and beads.

And Wounds of Eventide added two new bosses that you have to beat to get a new Heart which adds a second phase to the second to last and final boss fights which gives you the True ending.

I’ve done all of these now because they were fun but I crave external validation of the matter!

Blasphemous, a 2D retro styled action platformer is on sale for 75% off (6.24$) on Steam, on GoG, AND on Nintendo’s store for the Switch (those are all links). Steam’s, at least, ends April 4th.

There’s a sequel announced for 2023 and that’s an instant buy for me now.

I started out kind of lukewarm on this game but by the time I beat the first boss, I was kind of in love? The platforming stuff gave me some big old school Prince of Persia vibes (maybe it’s the instant death spikes); and the combat is fun. Some of those exploration/metroidvania elements. It’s “Souls-like”, though the difficulty isn’t really turned up to 11, it’s just got the whole “parrying, death means you need to go reclaim something, health flasks that refill, story is mostly in item descriptions or hidden away” kinda thing. I know it’s been done before but I really loved the whole “Evil(er) Fantasy Catholicism” aesthetic.

CW: Lots of blood and gore and some pixelated bits and bobs, if you dislike that. And obviously some, uh, look at the name.

My #1 post of 2022

Had another dream featuring tumblr mutuals and follows.

It was a fairly sprawling dream, and had something almost like an adventure narrative except it was really chill. Basically I went from place to place via various methods, accomplishing tasks. A lot of it blurred out of memory, but near the end I was at some kind of... distribution center? A giant blocky gray building full of offices and warehouses. I seem to recall it was a government service. I was definitely there with somebody else to pick up a large package. But I walked into one waiting room, possibly looking for water, and a bunch of trans and non-binary people from tumblr where there (I remember @beste-glatisant and @transgenderer, maybe @natalieironside?) and we shot the shit for a minute, and I mentioned how I’d run into TRAINS (I think but can’t be sure that this was something that actually happened in the dream, but I forgot except for the part where I referenced it later, during the same dream); which was... some kind of organization, except you always refer to its members/representatives as being the organization itself? The name is an acronym (and I think the T was for Trans). And all of you were excited and amazed and talked about how rare it is to run into them “organically”.

I was so caught up in pondering the implications, and the odd grammar, that I woke myself up.

Probably by laughter just because of the shock value I get cause I always forget sims can die that way lmao.

Baby, I'm mixing everythinggggg. Sticking to just one thing has never been me and why not have the best of both worlds?

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?

No. It's never been that serious. It's just another way for story-telling like seeing my sims gain happy relationship weight, etc.

I wouldn't ever play this game if it didn't exist lol

5. Favorite mod?

Lumpinou's mods are literally phenomenal, I also like Wicked/Wonderful Whims for the attraction system and the buffs/pop-ups. Other than that, I like the newer self care mods that are coming out like the functional clutter kit by Cepzid, etc.

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?

I'm pretty sure it was Seasons. Which, duh?

7. Do you pronounce ���live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing?

LIVing, the other way feels awkward to me but hearing it either way doesn't bother me.

Chileeeeeee. I've been doing makeovers from sims I had in my library in the beginning and. the horror. omfg. But before I used to only be an Alpha girlie and now I use both so my sims can look cohesive with the game. I'm too lazy to make a save file all alpha.

Other than that, I love seeing sims have individual styles and be diverse so I try to make them each different and same thing for my builds.

Wish I could list everyone, but heres some I don't think I could live without lol:

City living, hands down. I can't remember any save where my sims haven't lived there for a bit. So now that we can edit the windows I'm obsessed all over again. I think For Rent might eventually give CL a run for its money just because we can create our own rental lots now.

AFTERTHOUGHTS - ROUNDUP ROUND 6

August 2023

Happy September!! My birthday is so close I can almost taste it! I'm trying to get a lot of things off of my to-do list early into the month so I can have less to worry about as the month goes on. And one of those things is to talk about the games I played in August! There's a lot to go over so let's get to it!

F-ZERO GX (July 25, 2003) - Gamecube

I was in a HUGE F-ZERO mood last month! And when the F-ZERO mood overtakes you, you have no choice but to indulge it. So I did! And decided to play through all the tracks of a few F-ZERO games I've never beaten before. Starting with GX!

GX for anyone who doesn't know, is probably the best F-ZERO ever. For me it's between this and GP Legends on GBA but even though I might prefer GPL for sentimental reasons, GX is kinda no questions the best feeling to play. It feels amazing, lets you do some stupid stuff to get around the track, has TONS of content, really nice graphics, and a killer OST! Pretty much everything about it is some of the best the series has to offer. This time around I really found myself liking everyone's designs a lot more too, which before I wasn't super crazy about. Tracks are fun and chaotic, there's not much more to say. It's damn good F-ZERO.

I also beat Story Mode this time! Actually beat it! I played through all 9 chapters! And I beat them all legit except for 7 + 8 which I had to use cheats for infinite health and save scumming because... GOD DAMNED!! But all the others I did manage to do! Honestly while I'm SUPER glad this game has a story mode I'm not super crazy about it. The cutscenes are kinda not that amazing, the voice acting isn't amazing, and the plot is cool with the light and dark belts but it's so short it doesn't make a huge impact. And a lot of the missions are just total pains in the ass to finish. Except I did think the final boss being god, so you fight against the Staff Ghost. But other than that story mode really could use a new game to make it way better. For example I think GPL does it WAY better but it's using plots and concepts from the anime so of course that one's better.

Other than da bullshit (tm). F-ZERO GX still rules! Glad I finally went through and played everything in it. My dream is to one day get to play AX if I'm ever so blessed!

F-ZERO CLIMAX (October 21, 2004) - Gameboy Advance

Next up is F-ZERO CLIMAX! The 3rd GBA F-ZERO overall and as of right now the final game in the series! It's also pretty good! Not as good as GP Legend but it's alright for sure! I didn't like the gameplay as much (though I think this is actually due to emulator troubles) and the tracks as much. BUT, there's SO many characters in this game it's absolutely nuts!! I was actually blown away by how many racers they were able to fit onto the GBA lol. The other unlockables kinda suck though. You unlock racer profiles which are neat, and episode plots from the anime which is... Uh... I'd rather watch the anime lol.

And the main new thing in this is Battle Mode I think? It's basically a challenge more but it's also just kinda boring. Most of the missions are too easy, some have CPUS that are too brutal. But one that blew me out of the water was there's a mission where you HAVE to brake, but the default control scheme has NO BRAKE BUTTON!! So you have to quit the whole mode when you find out, change your controls, go back to the start of the mode, and THEN you can win. Really stupid.

While the game isn't the best by a long shot. It still looks good and has great music. Relistening to the OST I was really into the Port City song for this game was really good! I love the GBA and these are some of the only 3D GBA games I like the look of.

F-ZERO MAXIMUM VELOCITY (March 21, 2001) - Gameboy Advance

Next up, here's the first GBA F-ZERO game! And it's uh... It's a doozy. To put it nicely, this game sucks. It's got all new characters and is meant to be a "next generation" F-ZERO game. Which sounds neat, but very few of the characters are memorable and there's NO aliens!! That's been a staple since the first F-ZERO! How did they mess it up? Graphics are also kinda ugly, I don't remember the tracks being super exciting, and the gameplay just is NOT good. It plays like the SNES F-ZERO which sounds fine, especially because this one came out before GX. But it actually did launch AFTER X on N64. So think the game could've been a LITTLE bit better in the gameplay department.

I do think it has some interesting new planets though. Like the swamp is neat, there's a frozen ocean on Mars if I recall correctly? That's cool. Some neat planet ideas I wouldn't mind seeing a come back.

But overall, yeah I don't have much to say. Kind of a dull game and not an amazing F-ZERO by any means. Easily the worst of the ones I've played.

Street Fighter Alpha Trilogy (June 5, 1995/February 27, 1996/June 29, 1998) - Playstation 3

Recently I hooked up the PS3 for my sister and realized that my brother (big family lol) had all 3 Street Fighter Alpha games on it. And lately with Street Fighter Lore videos from ClementJ64 and Thorgi and with how good SF6 looks I've been finding myself getting more and more interested in the series. So I decided to give em a spin. I chose to play as Sagat cause his story of being so consumed by winning it made him evil, and then going through a small redemption arc sounded really cool to me and ultimately I think I really like him! My favorite SF characters are Juri and Laura but obviously she was made WAY later, and while Cammy and Mika (some of my other favorites) are in SFA3, by that point I was so used to Sagat so I just stuck with him.

Alpha 1 is cool, and 3 has a bunch of neat stuff. But 2 is absolutely the best imo. It felt the best to play and didn't feel a little muddied with all the different styles of combat (though I could NOT get custom combos to work in any of them. Oh well.) But overall this series looks SO good, has good music, and feels nice to play! I know people talk about how this is when SF went Anime and I LOVE IT, this is how SF should look the sprite work is AMAZING! And the menus in 3 are SO SO SOOOO cool! And the stages are AMAZING!! The windmill stage in 3 might be one of my favorite looking stages ever lol.

Overall, I'd say they're all good. But 3 was so needlessly brutal. Like, absolutely disgustingly brutal. I could NOT beat Bison at the end. And I tried a LOT, believe me. But I was getting so mad a muscle in my stomach was tensing up. So I had to quit. I wasn't crazy about 3 overall but that especially killed me. Ah well.

Outside of that though I really enjoyed these games (the PS1 ports of them at least I haven't tried the Arcade ones) and I really wanna try out SF4 again since that's the one that made me realize I like the series, with my newfound knowledge of the games!

An NPC's Odyssey (February 24, 2022) - Nintendo Switch

Next up is a teeny tiny RPG I bought on my switch on sale a LOOOOONG while back but didn't get around to until now. This game was only like, 2-3 hours long so I thought it'd be a perfect small game to play on the side when the TV was occupied! And I had a pretty good time with it! It's a short RPG Maker game where you play as an NPC in an RPG who has his money taken from him by the protagonist, and he sets out on an adventure to find them and get his money back! A cute idea for a meta game!

From there the gameplay is as simple as simple gets. Which isn't exciting, but there's also nothing wrong with it. You just fight monsters and make your way through maps while you progress the plot. The only really interesting thing about the gameplay is that they let you turn off random encounters by using your NPC card which I thought was funny.

Where the game really shines is with the actual teammates. You have the main normal guy, a little girl, a witch, and my personal favorite : a dude who is ALWAYS sleeping. He's so lazy that he won't even put any energy into being awake so he walks and fights while asleep. No spoilers but the plot does have a kind of interesting ending, though I feel like a lot of the story wasn't mind blowing or didn't feel super impactful because it's over so quick. But as a guy ALSO making an RPG Maker RPG I completely understand not wanting to do all that bullshit (tm). I do think the game could have benefitted from having you actually duke it out with the heroes at some point though. I'm also not a fan of how the child keeps calling herself a milf regardless of the plot, but it is funny how basically not a single character takes them seriously or even attempts to agree with her. They all shoot her down every time.

Graphics are nice, I don't remember any of the music, there's a dragon boss fight. Overall it was a pretty good game considering I think I got it for free and it's an incredibly short RPG! I had a good time with it overall!

Virtua Fighter 5 Online (July 12, 2006) - Xbox 360

Next is my very first ever Virtua Fighter game! I don't think I've ever come into contact with a game in this series before? Never seen a cabinet and never even seen another copy of it as far as I can recall. But one day one of my siblings just came home from goodwill with this in tow for me! How sweet! So I figured I had to give it a shot!

It's alright, for starters, I have to bring this up every time. I don't like 3D fighters. So like all other 3D fighters I had no idea what I was doing in this game. I pretty much immediately gravitated towards Vanessa though lol, she's hot so sue me. And I had a simple and easy time going through arcade mode. Nothing mind blowing but it's my first time ever trying the series. I liked that you could customize your character but you get money for it so slowly and you can't really mix and match a lot of the elements sadly. Unlike say, Tekken's costume customization which is so nuts you can even equip weapons with additional attacks.

Aside from that though the game does look GREAT! 360 has ages very well in the graphics department, I'm realizing more and more every day. And this is certainly one of them. I thought the stages looked very nice! And relistening to the OST right now, it kinda rules??? So that's good! I'll certainly try more VF in the future cause I know this series is incredibly important to fans of the genre.

Super Ghouls N' Ghosts (October 4, 1991) - SNES

Hey here's a game from a series I've never touched before. Well, I've been a big fan of the Firebrand games for a long time but I've never given the main series a shot before. But it was on SNES Online so I figured why not? And gave it a shot.

It's fine, I was SUPER into it, mostly just cause there's a lot of BS in it. But with rewinding and save scumming it's not so bad. Really the only truly horrible parts of the game were playing it twice, having you pray you find the goddess bracelet on your second go, don't lose it, and also I thought the final boss was kinda oddly difficult to hit. Game has nice sprites and great music though, as you'd expect for SNES Capcom. Neat game but I still absolutely prefer Demon's Crest haha

After playing this I did try Arthur in MvC3 and I actually loved him a lot in that, he's super fun and I think it's great that he has basically identical jumping mechanics to this game. Idk if I'll try other versions of this game but I am interested in the Maximo games, so who knows.

Lila's Tale and the Hidden Forest (November 10, 2022) - Nintendo Switch

Here's a game I had never heard of before, but I was able to get it for free so... even though I avoid getting indie games on Switch, I couldn't say no to that, and picked it up!

First and foremost, this game looks GREAT! It's got a lovely art style, the level aesthetics look great, the characters are ADORABLE, and also there are alt costumes which is always a 10/10 in my book. It also has a cute plot and a lot of cute ideas that I feel like could work super well for a franchise!

My only issues with the game is that a lot of the mechanics just kinda feel not super well done. Particularly wall jumping was really not working, or jumping on enemies would result on me getting hit. But generally I do think a lot of these issues came from playing on Switch with drift and whatnot. Still, I feel like there's a lot of potential for this if they could make a longer sequel that polished it up! Neat stuff.

Fighter's History (May 27, 1994) - SNES

And from here, we've got lots of NSO stuff to go through! Starting with Fighter's History! Which I had never heard of prior to this getting added to NSO. I played it at the time, but really didn't care for it. So I came back and went through the Arcade as Ray. And I gotta say it's perfectly fine. For a game that (seemingly) is like a Street Fighter 2 clone, it's pretty good! The characters aren't amazing but Ray screaming constantly was genuinely funny (it even has voice clips which I thought was cool!) And it has alright music and stages and graphics. And for an early fighting game (seeming) SF2 clone it really does get a lot right and doesn't make typical mistakes you'd expect to see in something like this. It's clearly of a high quality. Neat.

Magical Drop II (March 21, 1996) - SNES

Next up is Magical Drop! This is a series I actually have some history with! Particularly from playing it on a cabinet at Anime Weekend Atlanta with my sister! It's a game we both like a good bit! But I'd never beaten any of them prior to this. I did The World's arcade mode on Easy and had a great time!

My thoughts on Magical Drop are simple. Fantastic sprites, adorable character designs, cute music, and really fun and interesting spin on the typical connect-4 puzzle style! If you've never played one of these games I highly suggest it! It's a great game with some LOVELY character designs! My favorites are The Star and The World! Particularly The World though cause she's super hot.

SUPER EARTH DEFENSE FORCE (October 25, 1991) - SNES

A classic Shmup I'd never heard of before! Super Earth Defense Force is a super cool game with some really nice music, sprites, and gameplay! The standout thing about it is absolutely just how many weapons are available! At the start of each level you can pick between 8 weapons that all play different and, if I recall correctly, all have different upgrades and sub weapons? Though I may be mixing that up with the other Shmups I played. Regardless, 8 weapons is a lot! My favorite was the Photon if I recall correctly! I had a very good time with this one! Shmups feel like a genre I'll never run out of new things to discover with it!

Wild Guns (August 12, 1994) - SNES

NOW HERE'S A GAME! I've wanted to play this one for YEARS but remember having a really hard time figuring out the controls. I can't understand why cause it's very easy though lol. This is a great 3rd person shmup (I think that's an accurate way to describe it) set in a weird western world all about cowboys and high tech robots! Which is ALWAYS a cool look! The playable characters are both super cool, obviously I chose Annie cause she's a baddie. And I didn't even realize until the game was done but there's actually multiple colors for each character! Her Barbie color scheme rules but she had a Black Dress which looked killer I would have loved to use oh well.

It's got great music, feels wonderful to control, with lots of weapons and different ways to move around like jumping and dodging. With such a limited movement range you'd think this game wouldn't be so fun but it is! I liked this one so much it actually made me really sad it wasn't a Capcom game which means Annie won't be in an MvC game! Capcom vs Natsume when?

Also I totally forgot this got a remake that seems to add a new girl and a dog as playable characters! Lovely! Might have to pick that up when I get the chance. This series should've gotten more entries!

Altered Beast (June 14, 1988) - Sega Genesis

I wasn't sure what to expect from this one... It's a furry Sega game. Sounds neat. It's uh... a beat 'em up? But also a platformer? But not really fully committing to either? Honestly... I was not too into this game lmao! The graphics aren't amazing, it has okay music though and the concept is great! I loved when you turn into a green dragon with electric powers! Can you guess why?

Honestly, I think this game is PERFECTLY suited towards an edgy hack n' slash reboot. I mean, it's a werewolf game. That's so in right now. And it actually got one! I've heard it's garbage but honestly I just FEEL like I will like it better than this one honestly. So I'll have to give it a shot! I feel like there's a lot of potential there.

Cool it had a voice clip in it, I'm always impressed with stuff like that!

Zero Wing (July 1, 1989) - Sega Genesis

Last, but not least. Is the iconic, the unforgettable, ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US game. And, hey, this game rules!! Another fantastic Shmup that was hiding away from me until now! This is your typical bullet hell afair but there's some interesting mechanics! There's 3 different weapons, and collecting more of them makes them stronger and stronger which was super cool! I loved the green weapon a lot! BUT more importantly, is that you have a tractor beam! Which allows you to use enemies as meat shields! Sadly this concept isn't used nearly enough imo. I feel like there should have been bosses that REQUIRED you to grab things they throw at you and shoot them back.

The intro is funny but it is actually a intense war story lmao. And it has multiple endings which is neat, but I really was not about to replay the game 3 times to get all endings I'm sad to say. And the Japanese version has like, 27 endings! One for each time you beat it! That's nuts! Other than that though, it was a cool game!

Earlier today I went on a hunting spree, looking for all my gaming handhelds. All of them are Nintendo, and I have at least one of most versions going back to the original Game Boy.

My original Game Boy is actually a "recent" acquisition. When I was a kid, I had the grey brick. It was my favorite thing in the world. When the Game Boy Pocket came out, I got it for Christmas. My original? I was "asked" (read: guilted/forced) to give it to my sister's then best friend, so she could play games with us, as her parents weren't able to afford to buy her one. I hated doing it then; I see the wisdom now and honestly, I'm a little angry at my younger self for not just offering it.

Anyway. For years it was the ONLY one I was missing of the line. I had and kept the others (Pocket, Color, Advance & SP, DS, 3DS, 3DS XL, and Switch), and legit, ALL of them are still in working order. But not the original.

At a con in 2018, I spotted a games vendor with tons of Nintendo stuff. And there, lying on their table, was a beauty. An original Game Boy...in green. The vendor informed me that the green one was a Japanese import (not sure if true, didn't care if not). I informed him it was the only one I was missing, and that green is my favorite color, and inquired on the price.

$45.

SOLD.

I had about $300 total to spend on souvenirs. This was a FIND. If it had cost ALL my spending money, I would have spent it.

It works like a dream, btw.

My Pocket and Color have been MIA since about 2013. I know they're around here somewhere. Just not sure which box I put them in. It's probably the same box that has my Advance SP's charger. I also managed to find my GB Advance: a special one, the gold New York Pokemon Center edition. (My sister and I were very lucky that year.)

(I do know I sound kind of spoiled, having all these things and not having had to ever sell them. I know I'm privileged. Trust me. If I can manage to not ever have to sell my collection, I won't. If I have to ever sell my things, they'll be the very last things I do. And hopefully to someone who will appreciate them.)

What spurred me to do this? I wanted to finally catalogue all my Pokemon games. The name I gave each Trainer, what starter I picked, and any relevant notes.

Do I have all the games? Not myself. But between my sister and I, we do. And yes, still have them. Some don't work, but they're still in the collection. (My sister no longer plays. Hasn't since Black & White. Wish me luck in attempting to nab her copies! And no, I will not overwrite her games. I want to keep them mostly intact and maybe try to bring over any 'mon I can.)

I've tried to give each Trainer a unique name since Gen 2, so that when I trade up a 'mon, I can trace it back to what game/gen it originated in. In cases where I own both/all the games in a set, each one has a unique name, as well as alternating gender for games you can choose it.

For instance: - My sister had Ruby; I had Sapphire. Trainer's name was Lilya. - I have both Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. BD's trainer is Melpomene; SP's trainer is Morpheus. (I'm a Greek mythology nerd; it's also a reference to the book series I've been writing. Two royal siblings, and Morpheus is older.)

So I found the games (most of them, at least), and piled them up. Charged the systems that required it, fresh batteries in the ones that take 'em. (BTW, the 3DS and the 3DS XL can use the same charger. I misplaced one of them, so this is a nice realization.)

Games in, on, check Trainer/starter. Enter data in spreadsheet. Save game, turn off; insert next one. Repeat.

Here's what the cataloguing revealed:

- 1 game currently MIA (Sun) - 2 games busted and data loss (original Silver cart. and Pearl cart.) - 1 game half-busted (Sapphire's internal clock borked) - 4 games total with original trainer and starter long gone (reset, likely multiple times in some cases) - majority of transferrable Pokemon transferred out and up (Pokemon Bank, Pokemon Home, or on higher gen cart.) - at least 6(!) total games with some version of my name (Jordan/Jordi) as the trainer name, so would make figuring out provenance of Pokemon very fuzzy for earlier gen catches - I FOUND MY SHINY MEW! It's in Ultra Moon.

I don't remember if Legendaries/Mythics can be traded into Bank/Home and up. I HOPE they can. My Shiny is a "recent" trade but... I have a legit Mew I've had since Yellow. It's ALSO in UM. And I desperately want to make sure I can keep it. The Mew was given to me in middle school by a friend who got it in either Japan or Korea (I can't remember which) and hated it. Mew's always been my fave 'mon, so he gave it to me. It's been my lucky 'mon. It's level 100 now. If it can't be transferred out and up, at least I know where the little one is now.

I'm pretty sure the Shiny Mew is a hacked one; I got it in a Wonder Trade, so no idea of the provenance of it. Don't care. Shiny Mew is my absolute fave; it's blue, it's Mew.

I also have tried the Mew glitch in Yellow multiple times over the years. It's never worked for me. But...my Yellow is one of the games that I evidently reset and reset and reset (after trading stuff out and up). So I might try it a couple hundred more times. I know I still have the cables somewhere that the old systems required for trading, and we have enough systems that are compatible with the cables and games. So theoretically, if I can get it to work, I can get the Mew out.

I've also had some people try to get me to admit my "legit" traded Mew was also hacked. My friend's parents confirmed their vacation to...I think Japan or Korea, really can't remember after all this time. Met his pen pal there, and his pen pal had an extra Mew from an event that he gave my friend. So it is, as far as I know, and as far as my friend knew, legit. (Looking at the Mew events from around that time and prior, they were all in Japan. So it's a Japanese Mew. But I'm not sure of my friend's pen pal's nationality, and can't remember what country they resided in that his family visited on vacation.)

And while on this cataloguing excursion, I discovered that I have 2 copies each of Yellow and Silver. One each of a hard copy (cartridge), and one each of a digital copy on my 3DS XL. Neither digital copy has been completed, either. The digital copies are nice because I'll be 36 in two weeks and the original Game Boy's screen is a NIGHTMARE for my broken-ass eyes now. (Diabetes isn't helping my eyesight any, either.) So I can play Yellow on a screen that actually lets me SEE SHIT.

And as for Silver? The cartridge is busted. The internal stuff is so old that not only is the internal clock broken, but it's corrupted to the point it won't save. So if you start a new game, you either can't turn it off EVER, or you have to start over from the beginning every time. Kinda gives an old Nintendo fan war flashbacks of Super Mario Bros. 3, actually... The digital copy of Silver ACTUALLY SAVES. I've apparently got a game started on it, too. It's one of the Jordans. I might restart that and give them a different name, since I'm not too far in.

The other totally busted game is my hard copy of Pearl. I put it in the system, tap it to play, and...the system crashes. So that's nice. It's sister title, Diamond? Either I let my best friend play it, because the trainer's his nickname, or it's a copy I bought that just coincidentally has that name. At least I have Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and they're basically the same game as before.

If I can't snag my sister's copies of the other games, I might see about attempting to buy them. Slowly. Probably from newest gen to oldest, though at the rate I could afford them now, the Gen 1's might end up prohibitively expensive. I might also at some point attempt to snag physical copies of the digital ones I own. Just in case. Physical media will always beat downloads for me. It's the reason I still have DVDs.

Okay, this is seriously long enough. I'm going back to playing Pokemon. Scarlet, this time. Maybe with a side of Arceus if I get bored.

First of all, dear god the chaos.

Bruh you have Jamison from the lawless radioactive wasteland that is Australia and Lucio the freedom fighter dj. Being in a poly relationship with this two dudes will never be boring with the amt of shit you get into (which most of the time it’s Jamison’s fault oof)

I can see Lucio and Jamison being rather physically affectionate with you and each other, so I do hope you are someone who doesn’t mind all that. If you do, its ok cus Lucio understands all that personal space jeez, aand will do his best to explain and help Jamison understand cus Jamison is a bit more uhhhhh intrusive lmao

Group cuddle sessions are a thing and participation is made mandatory, the latter being a rule that was first made up to keep Junkrat out of his workshop to tinker stuff, but now it’s used for any time one of you gets too into work or need comfort of some sort.

They both are incredibly energetic and fun people to be with too! Thankfully you and Lucio can contain a bit of Jamison’s manic and destructive energy (and maybe teach him more abt what the rest of the world is like and morals). If you tired of socialising, they will def be chill in just hanging out in the same room, though Jamison needs some explanation and time to understand that first since hes not so people smart.

Fun activities would include gaming, workshop binges (Jamison makes shit while Lucio and you join in or add more dumb whacky ideas), MUSIC LISTENING PARTIES like Lucio is a DJ he wants to show yall all these cool artists and know yall tastes ok

Lucio makes a curated playlist for you amd Jamison. Aaaaand maybe a upcoming new album inspired by the two of you shhhhh its a surprise. And Jamison loves creating new trinkets for you and Lucio! He made a smol metal wire sculpture with a rat, frog and another animal representing you. Its considered a treasured possession that you can Lucio took turns to keep it in your rooms lmao, until Jamison made another one :3

Honestly you three prob got a lot of questioning looks when you all came out as a polyamory couple. Mostly cus of Jamison reputation as a crazed maniac and wanted criminal ngl but when everyone in overwatch sees the three of you hanging out, its really sweet.

I say some issues u guys would have would be first and foremost, Jamison’s questionable morality and lack of understanding of many things. He did kill people yes, but to him it was his way of life from the nuclear wasteland that is his home. It has taken a number of therapy sessions (as required for a reformatory programme Jamison is enrolled in because how else will he be in overwatch bruh), but hey hes getting better i suppose. Be patient with Jamison at times alright? Because he’s still figuring out all these new things and reframing in his worldview.

Another issue for sure would prob be Lucio’s tendency to be stubborn on some things. Haha u didnt think i was gonna say that huh.

To clarify, he’s someone passionate on various causes, and because he is such a nice and caring person pushing to gain support for other’s welfare, Lucio doesn’t fully grasp the consequences of his actions at times. It’s like…he’s naive or a bit simple-minded. Not unintentionally or fully dumb, more like he gets into this helping ppl mindset so much he forgets other things to consider. Like how he faces the Vishkar conflict. It’s a huge sore spot for him, and it’s a big reason why he doesn’t like Symmetra that much because he assumes that she is bad and aware of her corporation’s questionable deeds, which is not completely true. Its also personal for him because it was his hometown that was being affected, and because of that Lucio had to do something to save it. All these feelings mean that Lucio gets blinded by them at times, esp when its got to do sth that he’s passionate abt. Its good to fight for the things you love, but sometimes fighting is not always the solution and can make things worse. And he forgets that sometimes when he rants to u guys abt dealing with some obstinate person doing questionable things.

There will be times he sticks to his moral values and stand by them, without realising that he needs to open his kindness and empathy to those who seem to be the most unworthy of it. In fact, its thanks to being with you and Jamison and over time that Lucio realises this fact.

Previously on BnHA: Ochako was all “dear bloodthirsty mob, this kid you see standing before you has fought harder than anyone and put his life on the line to protect you all, so please chill the fuck out, jesus christ. like, putting aside that he’s humanity’s best hope and so it’s very much in your best interests to let him rest and recover someplace safe so that he can keep fighting for us, are y’all seriously going to turn away an injured and exhausted child in front of his sobbing mother?? seriously?? come on now.” I’m paraphrasing here but that’s basically how it went down. Anyway so then the mob was all, “...” and Deku collapsed to his knees in tears, and Gigantic Fox Lady and Kouta ran over to give him a hug but then the chapter ended.

Today on BnHA: Horikoshi is all “FINE, YOU CAN HUG HIM”, which, was that so hard?? The U.A. Clown Mob is all “come to think of it, we’ve kind of been taking the heroes for granted this entire time, maybe we should be less passive in the future. anyway so Deku if it’s not too much to ask, can you please save everyone and fix everything.” Deku is all “I sure can, and by the way I forgive you for swarming around all menacingly two minutes ago and trying to deny me basic shelter and stuff.” Ectoplasm is all, “hey Todogang get a load of this. I’m sure the people who turned Gigantic Fox Lady away also told themselves afterwards that they did it to protect their families. “better safe than sorry.” “she’ll be fine, someone will take her in, but as for us, we can’t afford to take that risk.” people can come up with all kinds of justifications for treating other people as less than human, and the really scary thing about it is how fucking easy it is

one last quick side note, which is that Horikoshi does a great job here of showing how scapegoating works, given that AFO is the one who’s really to blame and who presents the actual threat, and yet Deku is the one who ultimately winds up being the target of the mob’s fear and outrage despite him being as much of a victim as they are. gotta love that irony, which unfortunately plays out far too often in the real world as well.
