Bagginshieldtober day 19: Consort! Bilbo looks awesome in dwarven attire and Thorin's very, very into it, much to Dis's dismay XD
Not really proud of this one but im just happy to be able to finally post something. I took an abnormally big break (for me) from drawing since school and work got in the way and im sorry about not being consistent with the prompts, requests and posting. BUT! Im think that i might post more often after taking the break, or at least i hope so lol.

Oh, it breaks my heart when I remember that these two died for a home they only heard about in stories that their mother and Uncle probably told them at night before bedtime or in class with Balin.
It was only their home for a few days, but they will be buried there forever.

Okay but the fix it writers when it’s been three, no, nearly four year after Bilbo left the lonely mountain. He saw them die. Thorin and his nephews. He knew he couldn’t stay to watch them mourn. He felt to responsible for having been knocked out earlier and now being the sole reason the line of Durin has fallen. But then those four years later, Bilbo is doing his merry finest to act like nothing had happened to crush his soul. To act like a regular hobbit around the others. He gardens and bakes and hell, he’s has a little fauntling toddling about the hobbit hole. He had a family. A boy. And then that early morning knock at breakfast. A very much alive and desperate looking King Under the Moutian and his trusted company. All alive and accounted for at his round home door. There was a lot of misunderstanding later and explaining that was gonna need done from both sides, especially with a certain tiny dwobbit playing on the ground.

Inspired by that post about Thranduil being all defensive/protective over Gimli in Valinor:
We all know the head canon of Thorin being all "no nephew of mine even associates with an elf" BUT
Just imagine, in a world where all three Durins survived, and Tauriel saved Kili (again), and some other elf healed his and Fìli's wounds last minute.
Thorin saw both his nephews almost die before him, has LIVED through how the gold sickness twists the mind and perception of things, and after coming to terms with Bilbo's theft of the Arkenstone, he for a while questions EVERYTHING.
And yes, he totally has a dramatic phase of self pity, holing up in his rooms, drinking Elvish wine (cus thats all there is atm) and smoking Gandalf's pipeweed, and mourning how "everything i knew is a LIE" and "if elves can make such amazing wine there HAS to be some good in them" and "I almost got my boys killed I am such a failure boooohoooo", and after Bilbo kicks his ass out if depression (and a STRONG worded letter from his sister) he is like "okay FUCK y'all I have TRAUMA TM and will do WHATEVER I WANT!!"
So when Kili all shyly comes forward one day asking if Tauriel can please stay with them in the mountain because she's banished from the Woodland Realm he's all "OF COURSE she can stay, you do you my precious boy, if Thranduil is stupid enough to let such a great warrior go we'll stick it to him"
and BAM, Tauriel joins Dwalin in leading Erebor's guard, and Dwalin is torn between "excuse ME u want me to share my job with a pointy eared maiden?" And "holy hell that lass has fire can't show how impressed I am".
And Tauriel Takes No Shit even from her own boyfriend, so Kìli is forced to take his new responsibilities seriously because "I did NOT lose my home to live with a CHILD, Kili", and Fili gets dragged into the whole thing without really understanding what happened, but hey, his lil brother is happy so who cares really.
And whenever someone at council (like Dain) complains about an Elf in the mountain, Thorin goes absolutely FERAL like "are you saying I don't know what's best for this mountain I just won from A DRAGON?! are you suggesting that my perfect baby nephew has bad taste? Huh? Exactly, didn't think so!!!!" And is a protective Papa bear "listen Tauriel if someone gives you shit you SHOOT them. No, not killing them, but, you know, just maim them a little to make a point. Trust me I'm the king."
And once Kili and Tauriel have their first child Thorin constantly kidnaps the kid and has them in the forge before they can even talk because "need to keep up that good old dwarven influence".
Anyway I'll go cry myself to sleep now.

If they were gonna insert a female character into the Hobbit films that wasn't in the book it should have been Dis and no one can change my mind about this

What if Bilbo dies instead of Thorin in BOFA. Kili and Fili still die with him but Thorin survives. Would Bilbo be buried with the boys or would he be taken back to the Shire? What if Thorin, in a fit of grief and self blame, cuts his hair off. It’s sloppy and choppy and he’s still crying when Dis finds him. She has to clean it up and Thorin is just /so/ tired of it all and he just wanted to help me Dis but I nearly threw him off the roof. What if Thorin planted that damn acorn for Thorin and against all odds the infernal thing grows and thrives and for years to come, a grand oak tree is a staple of Erebor.

I haven't really seen anyone talk about "The Search for Gollum" here in my little corner of fandom but honestly, I can't help wondering what the heck this is going to be about, and the thing my brain keeps coming back to is how, at the end of BotFA, Bilbo still hasn't told Gandalf about the Ring, but by the beginning of FotR Gandalf does know about it.
Now of course I'm waving off the books almost entirely here, because it's handled totally differently, but what if Gandalf comes back for a visit to the Shire, and Bilbo finally tells him about the Ring? We already know it'll have to be Martin Freeman's Bilbo, so what if it's him and Gandalf going back to the Misties together to try and find Gollum?
What if we don't ignore the books entirely, and remember that at the end of The Hobbit, Gandalf visits with Balin? What if we also remember that Bilbo canonically went out on many adventures with dwarves between coming back from the Lonely Mountain and the beginning of LotR? What if Bilbo and Gandalf are accompanied by some of the original Company?? (the potential for angsty bagginshield here is just making me do a very long silent scream)
Also! Also!! Let's not forget that BotFA set up for Legolas to go find Aragorn, so what if they stop at Rivendell and pick up the two of them on their little quest?? We already know that Gollum is taken to Mirkwood, so we might even get to see Thranduil again!
*whispers* we might even get to see Dis...
Anyway, I know a lot of folks are making fun of this film, but I'm excited, and I'm really enjoying thinking about the possibilities!
