Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ill-fated decision to invade Ukraine is so unconscionable that his propagandists—including Russian Orthodox church that is tightly controlled by the government—are having to resort to increasingly outlandish methods to recruit more volunteers and comfort brokenhearted families of soldiers who perished in Ukraine.

From the beginning, Putin’s loyal mouthpieces like state TV host Vladimir Solovyov asserted that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a “holy war,” predicting it would lead to a “global jihad” against the West. Deputy of the State Duma Vyacheslav Nikonov claimed that Russia is “the embodiment of the forces of good” and stated, “This is truly a holy war we're waging and we must win.” Major General Apti Alaudinov, the commander of Chechen forces, who is himself a Muslim, claimed that Russia’s war against Ukraine will lead to the second coming of Christ, describing Moscow’s troops as “the forerunners of Jesus forces.”

Apparently, these assurances are not sufficient to ensure a steady stream of volunteers, much less to calm down the families of fallen soldiers. This month, Archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church Artemiy Vladimirov decided to up the ante and claimed that soldiers fighting on Russia’s side in Ukraine get resurrected after they get killed.

Ukraine’s Armed Forces estimate that the Russian military has suffered 451,730 casualties in the course of war, which includes deaths and injuries. Estimates by the U.S. and British intelligence conclude that Russian casualties exceed 300,000. This further exacerbates Russia’s growing demographic catastrophe and highlights the difficulties faced by the Kremlin in ensuring they have enough men willing to continue this devastating war.

Host of TV channel “Soyuz” Sergey Platonov told Vladimirov that he often speaks to soldiers serving in Ukraine and has been trying to convince them that there is no such thing as death. Describing one of his recent conversations with a Russian soldier, the host proudly said, “Maybe I’m boasting but I was successfully able to explain that death does not exist. He was encouraged by that!”

Vladimirov played along and replied, “In war, there are no unbelievers! When you are facing physical death, every fiber of your soul comes alive. Right now, there are many wonderful testimonies of Christ’s victory over death. My wife sends me many military testimonies and video clips. Before Lent, I watched a video about one Chinese man who participated in the special military operation. A bullet hit him in the stomach, destroying all of his insides. He died from this and then was resurrected.”

Vladimirov continued to spin the tale, claiming, “Saint Luke of Crimea appeared to him and completely healed him, his insides were fully restored. He was baptized along with his relatives, all of them are photographed together, dressed in white clothes, baptized into our Orthodox Church.”

The Archpriest added that this is not the only miraculous testimony that “Christ is visiting the soldiers who laid down their lives for their brethren, he is visiting them as his brothers, as blessed martyrs.”

Platonov said that Vladimirov’s tale of an alleged physical resurrection is an example of what should be a constant topic of conversation. He surmised, “All of us talk on the Internet, these stories should be constantly told. Death does not exist.”

Vladimirov wholeheartedly agreed, reminiscing about the Archpriest Dimitry Smirnov, describing him as one of the first clergymen who united the Russian Orthodox Church with the Defense Ministry. The thesis that “death does not exist” has already been incorporated into multiple state TV programs and even holiday specials, but is now being endowed with new outlandish specifics.

Vladimirov is no stranger to spreading idiosyncratic fibs. In 2019, he claimed to have communicated with Charles Darwin from beyond the grave and alleged that the scientist repented for his theory of evolution and renounced his own hypothesis about the origin of species.

Russians Explain Why They Support Putin’s Decision to Label LGBT Movement As ‘Terrorist Organization’

MOSCOW, RUSSIA - Russia has made rounds in the media yet again after its government, led by President Vladimir Putin, labeled the LGBT movement as a “terrorist organization”, claiming that LGBT activists were “practicing an extremist ideology.” This was obviously quite controversial within the international community and LGBT activists within Russia, but we wanted to know what everyday Russians thought of this definition. So the Dingleberry Times travelled to Moscow to see what the average Russian had to say about their government labeling the LGBT movement a “terrorist organization.”

Over a month late on this one, but it still counts!

Freckle and I have been roleplaying our nutcracker bois together for years now, but never once have I drawn the two of them together as their canon selves, as actual nutcrackers! Maybe I drew one or the other normally before, but never in the same space. I've always gone with animals when displaying the father-son-like relationship that the two of us built around these two.

But no more! Enjoy them as they truly are! No animalization spells or AU versions this time!

And Freckle, thanks for creating one of the most endearing duos I've ever had the pleasure of helping create or fangirl over, and completely out of nowhere in the beginning! I'll always love and be grateful for knowing and interacting with your sweet, Russian nutboi. Daemon definitely is.

early childhood

kathryn’s mother ( irene bouchard ) and father ( dimitri smirnov ) were high school sweethearts, married right out of high school and living in the small quiet town of portfield. soon they had a baby, and they were happy... at least, irene was happy. dimitri on the other hand, was beginning to feel restless, having been cooped up in this small town his whole life, only ever leaving for hockey games.

when kasha was around seven years old, dimitri’s skill was exceeding everyone around him - and it wasn’t going unnoticed. what started with just a hobby had turned into a career, moving up in the local hockey world until he was offered a spot playing for the toronto maple leafs - and he took it, and he took kasha with him.

kasha doesn’t remember much about moving away from portfield, but she remembers sitting in the taxi with her favourite blanket clutched in her hands, as she looked out the window and watched her mother get smaller and smaller until she couldn’t see her anymore. and she never saw her again.

life elsewhere

once in canada, kathryn’s life changed, whether for better or for worse. she reaped all the benefits of being a professional. her father made good money, and she learned hockey from the best of the best.

she attended private school, she had everything she ever wanted, and she could do whatever she wanted, but what she never really had was a relationship with her mother. it wasn’t that they didn’t want a relationship, but it just got hard. daily phone calls became weekly, then monthly, and then at a certain point they stopped altogether, and kasha never knew really who her mother was.

when she turned 15, she decided to train more intensely. she wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a smirnov legacy. she put in hours and hours of work everyday, studied old games, and made sure she stayed clean. kasha trained like her father did, for years. she was going to do this. kahtryn smirnov was going to play left wing for the toronto maple leafs. she was set on it - and she knew she could do it.

just after her 21st birthday, her father sat her down to talk. her mother had passed away from an illness, and she’d left everything in her name to kasha.

as soon as she was ready, she dropped everything and set south to portfield. this time, she watched as her father got smaller and smaller until she couldn’t see him anymore. she let herself cry for the first time in years.

moving forward

once arrived back in portfield, everything felt surreal. more or less, the city hadn’t changed at all, she swore she could even recognize some of the shopkeepers. entering her childhood home was surreal, the smell of her mother’s perfume and incense clung to the furniture and wallpaper. her mother’s jewelry, her clothes, her books, overwhelmed kasha with a feeling she couldn’t quite place.

kasha soon picked up a job at the toadstool flowershop. she didn’t need the money, but she wanted to feel closer to her mother, who had worked there before her. sometimes she feels her mother put a hand on her shoulder.

personality 

as she started training more intensely, everything else mattered less to her, and less to her coaches. she didn’t have any free time, as that was time wasted. she couldn’t ever take a day off because she was tired or sad, that’s time wasted too. over the years, she absorbed the belief that her feelings didn’t matter.

since kathryn saw herself as nothing but a hockey machine, so did everyone around her. she’d been told so many microaggressions over the years she believed them to be fact. she wasn’t allowed to talk about how she was. 

coping with the loss of a loved one is never easy, so how do you cope with the loss of someone you never knew? kasha’s inner dialogue has never been kind to her, but especially not now. after being clean her whole life, she began to smoke weed and cigarettes, and drink. she tries to keep these secret, but the smell of camels lingers on her clothes.

she is fast paced, and restless, afraid of what might happen if she sits still.

kathryn thinks she’s the funniest person on earth, she’s quick witted but her humor is often a defense mechanism.

kasha is incredibly dedicated. she can’t stop a project until it’s complete, so imagine her turmoil when she gives up on her entire life’s worth of work.

she likes to help others, but has a hard time helping herself.

a young boy who grew up too fast for his own good. having grown up in a household that was nothing but him and his unpleasant father was the result of a downward spiral. he tried his best not to be like his father but alas... as they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

luckily, he was pulled out of it --- -- pulled out of a life within prison walls : be it by love or be it by the simple desire to have a free life. nonetheless, he changed his ways. and now lives a life that is the opposite of his fathers.

conrad swore not to be like his father but that’s the personality he took on : he would pick useless fights, swear like it was nobodies business & he started getting jealous - something he never used to be

on one life changing night, the police raided his house. his father put all of the blame on his, then, 34 year old son ; the cops bought it. wolfgang went one way & conrad went into the back of the police car

little did he know that he would meet the love of his life there --- - a man he had seen not too long ago

needless to say...................... they fell in love & started making a little life with each other

shortly after they got out of jail, he started to change. he no longer swore & no longer fought ( unless he had to, anyway ) ; though, the jealousy seemed to stay

conrad stuck with dimitri & elena ( his niece ) throughout the entire apocalypse. he wanted nothing more than to keep him safe & he was more than willing to do anything to do that

he joined the flock a month before them just to . . . inspect the place & ensure it was legit and not harmful for his loved ones

A kind-hearted 24 year old Russian soldier who did mandatory enlistment with his cousin, Dimitri Belikov, before deciding to stay with the airforce.

In Modern warfare he is the head pilot and on-call foot soldier for TF 141
