Who are your top five favorite characters in John Wick?
-🧸 (<- If this hasn’t been taken yet)
[ Ooohhh I think this list would be pretty clear based on who is reading this but yeah here are my top five! :D ]
𝟓. 𝐈𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐅 𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐕
It was already a big start when I watched John Wick and really liked Alfie Allen’s performance as Iosef. Only just recently I started to like-like Iosef as a character more. I love his sort of biker aesthetic with the leather jacket and hoodies, which is a BIG difference from the other three big bads of the movie series since they’re all dressed in this formal-business sort of outfit which really goes to show Iosef’s difference in terms of character to literally everyone in the movie series.
𝟒. 𝐉𝐎𝐇𝐍 𝐖𝐈𝐂𝐊
The man, the myth, the legend! He’s obviously gonna be on this list because the movies aren’t completed without him and he’s genuinely such a well-written character it’s just that most people (atleast on other platforms) just know John for killing an entire criminal organization over a dog and while yes that’s true, I can literally just yap over and over about how Daisy just symbolizes John’s remaining innocence and his connection to Helen/the overworld.
𝟑. 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐃𝐉𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐑
Watching John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum and actually noticing everything after watching the fourth movie in the series was like a hit to the face. So Adjudicator— fucking awesome! I loved their entire wardrobe throughout the movies and how they all look so stylish yet refined. And I love the subtle story telling with their dangly earring which represents the fact they don’t necessarily have everything under control and so does the High Table.
𝟐. 𝐆𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐀 𝐃’𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐎
People truly sleep on Gianna because, hey, she got like ten minutes worth of screentime and had relatively a short time alive for the audience to look at her and like her as a character. But to me, I love her. I love my bitches who show up once and then never again. She’s evil, she’s ruthless, she’s a cunt; Santino’s just mad he can’t do it like her. Aka, be as good as her when it comes to ruling the Camorra. I love her so much, because as much as we were so close to see a truly ruthless individual who is a woman rule something as large and brutal as the Camorra, and also be a canon seat holder in the world of the High Table— Gianna remains one of my favorite due to how beautiful she is and how intuitive she was, her death scene was just absolutely beautiful.
𝟏. 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐒 𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐁𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐓 𝐃𝐄 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓
We all saw this coming. He’s practically my brand, in fact I am him. He is me and he is I, don’t mind the fact he died in 2015 and I got pushed into this world against my will in 2005. Look at him. He’s literally the perfect villain for a movie like John Wick Chapter 4. He’s a cunt, played by Bill Skarsgård, he has a fuckass French accent, he never shows up in scenes without his pocket watch, the shoes are Prada and the suits are Valentino. All his suits are drenched in glitter, and every scene feels like he owns the place. The Louvre? The Louis Vuitton Foundation? The Palace of Versailles? The Palais Garnier? The fucking Tour de Eiffel? He’s always surrounded by his bodyguards, he’s eating cake and living his best life. God, he’s literally me. I am him bro. He is literally me. He’s a ruthless and brutal little cunt ass bitch who finds pain fascinating but I do not have a single fiber in my body that gives a hecking shit. Anna Wintour would have loved him. If there was an Anna Wintour in the John Wick world, Vincent would be her fucking soul son. If you were to tell me the bitch named Keith from Barbarian would suddenly be throwing on a French accent and walk the way he does now, I would have exploded. Vincent is nothing but the pure embodiment of the campiness of John Wick Chapter 4. The suits, the character, the attitude, the sheer level of audacity. He is a mixture of the villains before him, he is the campiness of John Wick Chapter 4, he is Bill Skarsgård having fun, he is an insufferable bitch who deserves the way he died and even then, his death was both relieving and also beautiful. The Marquis, Vincent Bisset de Gramont is everything in a John Wick villain; the design, the European, the mythology references, the hatred for John, the cowardice, the deceitful nature, the ability to serve so much cunt yet be so cringefailure loserboy at the same time. Chad Stahelski made a great decision casting Bill Skarsgård as the Marquis de Gramont because I cannot think of another 6’4 white man who looks like a disturbed Victorian era child who has never seen a cellphone. He looks like he would get pissed off if you called him cunty and he would die if you gave him Sprite to drink. Making a guillotine joke around him would have you executed on site. He has a nice ass and beautiful, glorious hips and thighs that he is gatekeeping from the community using his glittery tailcoats. He is a thirty three years old twink with perfect thighs and even better fashion. His hair has so much hairspray I don’t think that shit was moving for the duration of the movie. The perfect villain to have ended John Wick alongside the legend himself. The motherfucker comes from Southern France and I hate and love him even more because of that. He is such an insufferable little shit that if I were there in the agreements scene I would have done everything in my power to make sure the duel starts now so I can leap across the table and rip him to shreds with my bare hands. I am kissing him with tongue afterwards. I hyperfixated on him and hated him at first but then I remembered that his fanbase was lacking at the time so now I’m him yeah sorry Chad Stahelski himself told me I am him so yeah move out of the way ladies. Or don’t. I’m married to like three women I don’t know because I’m him. His hell is being middle class in Paris because I said so.

What's your favorite random historical fact?
Ooh idk if I have one specific favorite, but here are some cool ones: (ok so I ended up putting a lot 💀)
• The Marquis de Sade was possibly the judge in a lawsuit that Voltaire was involved in by virtue of his being the Lieutenant of Gex. There's a letter to Sade from the Marquis de Jaucourt where he says that V has told him that Sade is the judge, and Jaucourt doesn't give any details of the lawsuit but he's basically trying to act as a character witness for V. The letter is from June of 1770 and Sade went back to his army regiment in July, so idk if he actually did end up serving as the judge or what happened with the lawsuit.
• Following that one but I just wanted to split up the text block, V and Sade were actually related to each other. V's niece adopted Reine Philiberte, who married Villette, and Villette was cousins with Sade's wife. Villette was also maaaybe V's biological son but like no he wasn't lol. Small world ig
• Michael Dillon, the first trans man to get a phalloplasty (1946-ish, but it was multiple surgeries over a long time), was also the first Westerner to become a Tibetan monk. His monk name (?) was Jikava, which was the name of the Buddha's personal doctor, presumably because Dillon was also a doctor. He also performed SRS on Roberta Cowell, a trans woman who was a racecar driver and fighter pilot.
• The Dictionnaire Critique from 1787 says that the word "energy" is "very fashionable"; I've found one example in Robespierre's papers containing the phrase that someone was "going against the energy we're creating here". 1780s bitches 🤝 2000s bitches
• Rousseau being told that Candide was a response to a letter from him that V never answered and saying he wouldn't know bc he'd never read it. I hate Rousseau but. king shit right there.
• There was a rumor going around that the prostitutes who worked in the Luxembourg Gardens were planning to attack Villette, who also frequently hung out there, because he was stealing all their customers.
• The street with the main entrance to the Paris Catacombs, where a house collapsing led to the project being started to shore up the catacombs, was called the Rue d'Enfer, and no one knows the reason behind the name. Two main theories are that it was an execution place during Roman times, or that it could be "en fer" like something built out of iron. The city, thinking the name 'Road of Hell' wasn't very great (that fucking rocks as a road name), changed it to the Rue d'Enfert-Rochereau in 1878 after a colonel who'd been at the siege of Belfort.

24 Days of La Fayette: December 9th - Comte de Charlus
Armand-Charles-Augustin de La Croix de Castries, comte de Charlus was a French nobleman that served as a Colonel en Second in the Saintonge Regiment. The Regiment was founded as the 85e Regiment of the Line in 1684. In 1780, during the Revolutionary War it was dispatched to the former colonies under the command of the comte de Rochembeau and participated in the battle of Yorktown. After the French Revolution, the regiment was transformed into the 82e Regiment of Infantry.
Charlus was born on May 23, 1756 as the oldest son of Charles Eugène Gabriel de La Croix de Castries, marquis de Castries (1727-1801) and Gabrielle Isabeau Thérèse de Rosset. Castries served as Secretray of the French Navy from 1780 until 1787. He was made a Marshal of France in 1783.
The Marquis de Chastellux described Charlus career and character as follows in a letter to George Washington from January 12, 1781:
Count de Charlus the son of marquis de Castries our new minister is a young gentleman endowed with the best and most amiable qualities, but i may do him justice in a word by saying that he is a worthy friend to marquis de la fayette. he resigned a colonelship at home to serve in America and left in france a very handsome lady whom he had married the month before. I hope that he will testify to your excellency the respect and the attachment of the whole french army (…).
"To George Washington from François-Jean de Beauvoir, marquis de Chastellux, 12 January 1781,” Founders Online, National Archives, [This is an Early Access document from The Papers of George Washington. It is not an authoritative final version.] (09/09/2022)
Charlus had already been a friend of La Fayette when he came over with his regiment, but their relationship deepened after Charlus offered his service as a volunteer aide-de-camp in March of 1781. The comte de Charlus joined La Fayette along with the comte de Dillon and the comte (?) de Sainte-Maime. All three men were friends of La Fayette and joined him in order to support his expedition against Benedict Arnold in Virginia. It appears that only Charlus served directly as an aide-de-camp. By April of the same years, the three men had left Virginia for Rhode Island, making Charlus’ service a rather short one.
La Fayette wrote in a letter to George Washington dated February 24, 1781:
Count de Ste Mîme and Mons. de St Victor are with me-- They ask Your permission to follow me and so will Count de Charlus &c. -- I told them that You would Have No objection to it As far as may Be Consistent with their Arrangements with Count de Rochambeau upon which You will not Intrude, and that the American Army will Be Happy in all times to Be Honor’d with the visit of Such Volonteers-- But these Expressions will still do Better from You, and the word Volonteer must not Be forgotten for Reasons obvious in any thing You’ll order me to Answer to them.
"To George Washington from Marie-Joseph-Paul-Yves-Roch-Gilbert du Motier, marquis de Lafayette, 24 February 1781,” Founders Online, National Archives, [This is an Early Access document from The Papers of George Washington. It is not an authoritative final version.] (09/09/2022)
La Fayette described the whole situation further in a letter to the Prince de Poix from August 24, 1781:
You will already have learned that Charlus came to Virginia with me. He had permission to travel, but they compelled him to return nonetheless, an event that has not affected him very much.
Idzerda Stanley J. et al., editors, Lafayette in the Age of the American Revolution: Selected Letters and Papers, 1776–1790, Volume 4, April 1, 1781–December 23, 1781, Cornell University Press, 1981, p. 356-349.
La Fayette and Charlus were reunited for the Battle of Yorktown although they were not directly serving together. We have previous letters where La Fayette expresses his warm feelings for Charlus but his letter from October 20, 1781 is my favourite example of these warm feelings. La Fayette wrote to the Prince de Poix:
I become more and more attached to Charlus. To the distinguished qualities that make him esteemed, he joins all those that make him loved. (…) Charlus, the vicomte, Damas, and I live as intimately together as in Paris.
Idzerda Stanley J. et al., editors, Lafayette in the Age of the American Revolution: Selected Letters and Papers, 1776–1790, Volume 4, April 1, 1781–December 23, 1781, Cornell University Press, 1981, p. 424-425.
Shortly after the Battle of Yorktown, Charlus returned to France where his military career continued to thrive. La Fayette wrote in a letter to George Washington on January 18, 1782:
Charlus is adjutant General of the Gendarmerie of France Which his Father Commands.
"To George Washington from Marie-Joseph-Paul-Yves-Roch-Gilbert du Motier, marquis de Lafayette, 18 January 1782,” Founders Online, National Archives, [This is an Early Access document from The Papers of George Washington. It is not an authoritative final version.] (09/09/2022)
The Marquis mentioned Charlus career again in a letter to George Washington from May 24, 1786:
Count de charlus, now Called duke de Castries, is Commander in second of the Gendarmerie which is Commanded by His father.
“To George Washington from Lafayette, 24 May 1786,” Founders Online, National Archives, [Original source: The Papers of George Washington, Confederation Series, vol. 4, 2 April 1786 – 31 January 1787, ed. W. W. Abbot. Charlottesville: University Press of Virginia, 1995, pp. 71–73.] (09/09/2022)
Their apparent closeness should make for a great friendship between La Fayette and Charlus, should it not? Well, let me introduce you to a little something called the French Revolution.
Charlus was initially quite positive towards the Revolution and even supported the abolishing of privileges for the nobility – at heart he however remained the most astute royalist. It did not took him and La Fayette too long to clash over the politic of the Revolution. Charlus even duelled Charles Lameth, the brother of Alexandre Lameth, La Fayette’s fellow prisoner. Lameth was slightly wounded during the duel.
Charlus fled to Coppet in Switzerland where he had family and joined the Armée des émigrés in 1794 and founded his own regiment. He only returned back to France after the Restauration in 1814. He died on January 19, 1842.
Charlus had a younger sister, Adélaïde Marie de La Croix de Castries, who married the Vicomte de Mailly in 1767. He had been married twice and each marriage produced one surviving son. He was succeeded by his first born son, Edmond Eugène Philippe Hercule de La Croix de Castries.

History
The public gardens around the St Pancras Old Church were opened in 1877,after the churchyard was closed for burials in 1850.The gardens are made up of part of the old churchyard for the church of St Pancras, enlarged in 1800,and a separate burial ground for St Giles-in-the-Fields,added 1803.It was a preferred burial place for Catholics, with an area devoted to French émigrés.The burial ground and churchyard were partially destroyed by the development of the Midland Railway;the company formed a cutting in 1865 for the construction of the railway lines from St Pancras Station. The clearances of tombs and bodies was highly controversial and caused considerable protest;the graves were dug up at night, behind screens,a process overseen by Thomas Hardy, then an apprentice architect, and many years later recorded in a poem,‘The Levelled Churchyard’(1882).The grandest tombs survived, including the tomb to Sir John Soane(d 1837)and his wife(d 1815),but others were moved. The ground was levelled and the headstones were placed in mounds or around the walls. In 1875 the remaining land was acquired by the St Pancras Vestry for use as public space, and the gardens were opened to the public in June 1877;Baroness Burdett-Coutts laid the foundation stone of the monument she had presented,to commemorate the graves disturbed in the construction of the railway. The gardens were laid out in their present form in 1890-1 by the Vestry,in conjunction with the Midlands Railway Company. Angela Georgina Burdett, suo jure Baroness Burdett-Coutts(1814-1906)was a prominent philanthropist who is estimated to have given away between £3 and £4 million. As described by her biographer Edna Healey,in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography,Burdett-Coutts set a new standard in philanthropy:prompt and practical, her charity was given with style and without condescension. In her time she was an honoured institution and most of her enterprises bore lasting fruit.Even her visionary schemes that did not survive–Columbia market and Columbia Square–served as models for the shopping precincts and housing estates of a later era.In the breadth and sincerity of her sympathies and in the variety of her social and intellectual interests she has had no rival among philanthropists before or since. Her example not only provided an immense stimulus to charitable work among the rich and fashionable but also suggested solutions to many social problems. She was the first woman to be given a peerage,in 1871,and was thus described by Edward VII:‘after my mother the most remarkable woman in the country’.Burdett-Coutts lived with her companion and partner Hannah Brown for 52 years, after whose death, she married her protégé,William Lehman Ashmead Bartlett;it was called the ‘mad marriage’ by Queen Victoria, for Burdett-Coutts was 66,and Bartlett 29. Burdett-Coutts commissioned this memorial to commemorate a diverse group of people whose graves had been destroyed by the development of the railway.Among the names included on the memorial is that of the Chevalier d’Eon,who was a celebrated French spy and diplomat in the eighteenth century. The Chevalier lived the first part of their life as a man and the latter as a woman.Their gender was widely speculated about, and they were written about in many satires and pamphlets.D’Eon used female pronouns in later life, and signed their name as Mademoiselle d’Eon. Numerous other significant historic figures are noted on the memorial, including Sir Edward Walpole, Sir John Soane, and sculptor Thomas Flaxman, whose tomb (q.v.) stands nearby. The burial of Sidly Effendi, the Turkish Ambassador, presumably a Muslim, is quite unusual. In line with Burdett-Coutts’s humanitarian principles, a special dedication is made to the ‘memory of those whose graves are now unseen, or the record of whose names may have become obliterated’.

Memorial sundial,1877-1879.Designed by George Highton of Brixton for Baroness Burdett-Coutts, and manufactured by H Daniel and Co,cemetery masons of Highgate;relief carvings by Signor Facigna.MATERIALS:constructed from Portland stone, with marble and granite dressings and mosaic detail,a red Mansfield stone base and wrought ironwork.DESCRIPTION:the memorial is a tall square shaft in decorated Gothic style, standing on a square plinth and a three-tiered octagonal base. The shaft has angle colonnettes in pink and grey granite, which rise on each side to a trefoil head to a recessed panel with inscriptions in applied lettering.Four tall,richly-moulded gables surround a crocketed spire with corner pinnacles. The SW side faces the entrance to the gardens. The trefoil contains a marble plaque beneath a relief carving of St Pancras with a palm and book, above a marble panel with a two-part inscription:the first is the beatitudes from St Matthew V,3-9 (verses 4 and 5 in reversed order),and the second is a religious poem, the author of which is unknown. In the gable above is an iron sundial, with the words ‘TEMPUS EDAX RERUM’ –time devours all things. The SE and NW sides have relief carvings of Morning, represented by a woman with a cockerel upon her head, and Night, represented by a robed figure with a star and crescent moon. The panels contain lists of names of eminent people once buried in the churchyards. On the NE is St Giles, whose panel has a dedication to those people whose graves were disturbed but whose names were not recorded. The names are listed thus:SE side:‘CHARLES LOUIS VICOR DE BROGLIE 1765/CHEVALIER D’EON,1810/FRENCH MINISTER PLENIPOTINTIARY/JOSEPH FRANCIS XAVIER DE HASLANG,1783/COUNT D’HERVILLY,1795 MARSHAL OF FRANCE/PASCHALIS DE PAOLI,1807 OF CORSICA/COMTE DE PONTCARRE,1810 /MICHAEL JOANNED BAPTISTA,BARON DE WENZEL,1790/OCCULIST TO THE COURT OF HUNGARY/LORD CHARLES DILLON,1741:LADY DILLON, 1751/ARCHIBISHOP DILLON,1806/GENERAL SIR RUFANCE DONKIN,KCB,GCH 1841/MISS FRANCES DOUGHTY,1763/DAUGHTER OF SIR HENRY TICHNORNE/GUY HENRY MARIE DU VAL, MARQUIS BE BONNEEVAL, 1863 /REV.JOSEPH DUNCAN,1797/SIDLY EFFENDI,1811/ TURKISH AMBASSADOR TO THIS COUNTRY/JOHN FLAXMAN,1826 SCULPTOR/SIR JOHN FLEETWOOD,1741/PHILLIPPO NEPUMUCENO FONTANAE,1793/AMBASSADOR FROM THE COURT OF SARDINIA/TO THAT OF SPAIN/FRANCIS PIETRI FOZANO,1838/CLAUDE JOSEPH GABRIEL,CISCOUNT LE VAULX,1809 / MARSHAL OF FRANCE/BONAVENTURA GIFFARD,1734 AND ANDREA GIFFARD,1714 /JOHN ERNEST GRABE D.D.1711/ANTOINE FRANCOISE,COMTE BE GRAMONT,1795/SIR JOHN GURNEY,1845/FORMERLY THE CHIEF BARON OF THE EXCHEQUER/SAMUEL HARRISON,MUSICIAN 1812/THE HON ESME HOWARD OF NORFOLK,1728/YOUNGEST SON OF HENRY,EARL OF ARUNDEL AND SURREY/AND HIS WIFE MARGARET,1716 /COUNT LA MARCHE,1806 BISHOP OF LEON’(33)NW side:‘HIS EXCELLENCY PHILLIP ST MARTIN/COUNT DE FRONT,1812./MORRIS LEIVESLEY,1849,/54 YEARS SECRETARY OF THE FOUNDLING HOSPITAL./ JAMES LEONI,1746, ARCHITECT./COUNT FERDINAND LUCHESSE,1806, ENVOY FROM NAPLES/ANDRES MARSHALL,1813,PHYSICIAN./MAURICE MARGAROT,1815,AND HIS WIFE ELIZABETH,1841 / THOMAS MAZZINGHI,1775,VIOLINIST./FATHER OF JOSPEH MAZZINGHI,THE COMPOSER./THE HON:ISAAC OGDEN,1819./REVD FATHER O’LEARY,1802./DON JOSEPH ALONZO ORTIZ,1813,/CONSUL GENERAL OF SPAIN./STEPHEN PAXTON,1787,MUSICIAN./ PETER PASQUALINO,1766,MUSICIAN./MADELINE ANTOINETTER PULCHERIE,MARQUISE DE TOURVILLE,1837./SENORA DONA MARIA MANUELA RAPAOL,1839,/NATIVE OF CORDOVA./SIMON FRANCIS RAVENET,1764,ENGRAVER./LADY SLINGSBY,1693,AN ACTRESS./SIR JOHN SOANE,R.A.F.R.S. 1837,/ARCHITECT OF THE BANK OF ENGLAND/JEREMIAH LE SOUEF,1837,/FOR 20 YEARS VICE CONSUL OF THE UNITED STATES./SIR CHARLES HENRY TALBOT,1798,/HIS WIFE AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE TALBOT FAMILY./SIR HENRY TEMPEST,1753./MANOEL VIERA,1783 PORTUGUESE MERCHANT./JOHN WALKER,1807/AUTHOR OF THE PRONOUNCING DICTIONARY./EDWARD WALPOLE,1740./SIR JOHN WEBB,1797,/AND HIS WIFE BARBARA,1740.’(29)NE side, beneath the dedication:‘RT:HON’ MARY DOWAGER LADY ABERGAVENNY,1699./FRANCIS CLAUD AMOS 1800./THE HON:COUNT ARUNDELL,1752 AND HIS WIFE ANN,1778./LOUIS CLAUD BIGOT,1803/MINISTER PLENIPOTENTIARY FOR THE KING OF FRANE IN SWEDEN./LADY BOWYER 1802,RELICT OF SIR WILLIAM BOWYER,BART/WILLIAM BRETT,1828,ARTIST./HENRY BURDETT,1736, GOLDSMITH./MARY BURKE,1846./WIFE OF JOHN BURKE,AUTHOR OF “THE PEERAGE”./THE HON:ELIZABETH BUTLER,1823,/DAUGHTER OF LORD LANGDALE./RT:HON:ELIZABETH,COUNTESS OF CASTLEHAVEN,1743,DAUGHTER OF LORD ARUNDELL./TIBERIUS CAVALLOW,1809, SCIENTIST./THE HON AMEY CONSTABLE,1783,/DAUGHTER OF LORD CLIFFORD OF CHUDLEY./CATHERINE CONSTABLE,1783/WILLIAM CUMMINGS,1833,GENERAL OF H.M.FORCES./JOHN DANBY,1798,MUSICIAN./ALEXANDER CAESAR D’ANTERROCHES,1793,/BISHOP OF CONDORN./JOSEPH CAYETANO DE BERNALES,1825,SPANISH MERCHANT,/ AND HIS WIFE ELIZABETH,1823.’(24)The square plinth has four corner posts linked by foliate ironwork. The Mansfield stone octagonal base has three tiers of troughs, with the outer face of each containing intricate mosaic and relief moulded panels depicting flowers, foliate symbols and the seasons. The troughs are filled with plants.C20 cast-iron railings enclose the monument, and in line with the corners are four stone statues:two of seated dogs, said to have been modelled on Burdett-Coutts’s collie, and two lions.Johann Christian Bach’s plain pauper’s plaque stands on the NW edge of the railings.
Amongst people commemorated is the Chevalier d'Eon (1728 – 1810) , an 18th century French spy, diplomat and freemason whose gender transition was recognised in French and English law.
For 33 years, from 1777, d'Éon dressed as a woman, claiming to have been female at birth. Doctors who examined d'Éon's body after d'Éon's death discovered that d'Éon would have actually been designated male at birth.

ACC power rankings: Can anyone stop Clemson? (No, but please read anyway)
The ACC was the most disappointing conference in 2018. The league should rebound a bit, but Clemson’s still on a different plane.
At the end of each conference previews run-through, I take a look at how I perceive the conference’s balance of power heading into the season. This is in no way based on schedules, so they are not predictions. This is just how I would rank the teams after writing thousands of words about each of them. We have already completed the MAC, Conference USA, Sun Belt, AAC, and MWC.
Bill C’s ACC power rankings
Here’s a link to every team’s data, and each team’s name below is linked to its preview.
Tier 1
1. Clemson
Duh. Let’s just move on to the interesting part.
Tier 2
2. Miami 3. Florida State 4. Virginia 5. Virginia Tech 6. Syracuse 7. NC State
Any of these teams could end up the second-best team in the conference without surprising me too much, though because of pure upside, the top two have slightly better odds.
We know Miami’s and FSU’s issues pretty well by now — Miami had shaky QB play in 2017 and downright bad play last year, and FSU attempted to field a team without an offensive line, with predictably awful results. (Okay, they tried to field an offensive line. You just couldn’t tell.) If either team gets back to average in these units, they’ll have enough proven pieces elsewhere to do well. They just won’t catch up to Clemson.
Tier 3
8. Pitt 9. Wake Forest 10. Duke 11. North Carolina 12. Boston College
Pitt won the Coastal last year with barely more than a month of quality play — they were 5-1 from October 6 to November 17 and 2-6 otherwise. If the Panthers beat both Virginia and Miami at home, they could make a run at a repeat. But they, like all the other teams in this group, have deficiencies that give them slightly longer odds.
Tier 4
13. Georgia Tech 14. Louisville
Year Zero situations. The goal is to be better in November than September and hit the offseason with optimism. Don’t worry about win totals.
How does S&P+ see things?
Here’s how my statistical system has the ACC laid out for 2019, with zero equating to an average FBS team. (You can find full 2019 S&P+ projections here.)
What leagues like C-USA and the MAC lack in quality, they could make up for with tight conference races.
The ACC is the anti-C-USA. It’s got an obvious national title contender and plenty of teams that could, if they get breakthroughs, play at a top-25 level or so. It also has zero teams within 16 points of Clemson — the Tigers’ projected S&P+ rating is plus-29.9. Miami’s is plus-13.9, and the Tigers don’t even play the Canes. FSU is the only top-45 conference foe on the schedule.
2019 projected standings (per S&P+)
Projected conference wins, with overall wins in parentheses.
Atlantic Division
Clemson 7.5 (11.0)
Florida State 4.6 (7.1)
NC State 4.2 (7.4)
Syracuse 3.7 (6.7)
Wake Forest 3.4 (6.2)
Boston College 2.9 (5.5)
Louisville 2.1 (4.0)
Florida State is projected second in the Atlantic ... with a conference win total closer to last place Louisville’s than Clemson’s.
Coastal Division
Miami 5.6 (8.7)
Virginia Tech 5.2 (8.3)
Virginia 4.5 (7.6)
Pitt 3.8 (5.9)
Duke 3.6 (5.4)
North Carolina 3.1 (5.1)
Georgia Tech 2.1 (3.7)
While Clemson would be a massive favorite against anybody in the ACC title game, we could have an interesting division race in the conference, just like last year. Miami is the favorite, with not only the highest projected win total but potential tie-breaker edges from getting Virginia Tech and Virginia at home. But it would take only one upset to make this a brawl, and, well, until we know happier things about Miami’s QB situation, upsets wouldn’t be all that surprising, would they?
ACC offenses heading into 2019
Of the most efficient offenses, only one had big-play power. And of the three big-play teams, only one was anywhere near efficient enough to take advantage of the explosives.
(It was Clemson. In the ACC, the answer is always Clemson.)
ACC defenses heading into 2019
The answer. Is always. Clemson.
Best 2019 offensive players by team (best overall in bold):
Boston College: RB AJ Dillon
Clemson: QB Trevor Lawrence
Duke: RB Deon Jackson
Florida State: WR Tamorrion Terry
Georgia Tech: RB Jordan Mason
Louisville: WR TuTu Atwell
Miami: RB DeeJay Dallas
NC State: C Joe Sculthorpe
North Carolina: RB Michael Carter
Pitt: WR Taysir Mack
Syracuse: OG Evan Adams
Virginia: QB Bryce Perkins
Virginia Tech: WR Damon Hazelton
Wake Forest: RB Cade Carney
This conference has quite a bit of exciting skill talent this year, but there are lots of questions at QB. Among teams that aren’t the defending champ, anyway.

Trevor Lawrence
Best 2019 defensive players by team
Boston College: LB Max Richardson
Clemson: NB Isaiah Simmons
Duke: S Marquis Waters
Florida State: NG Marvin Wilson
Georgia Tech: S Tariq Carpenter
Louisville: DE Amonte Caban
Miami: CB Trajan Bandy
NC State: DT Larrell Murchison
North Carolina: DT Jason Strowbridge
Pitt: CB Dane Jackson
Syracuse: DE Alton Robinson
Virginia: CB Bryce Hall
Virginia Tech: LB Rayshard Ashby
Wake Forest: CB Essang Bassey
A two-star high school prospect, Hall chose UVA over offers from the likes of Albany and Duquesne. And he went from six havoc plays as a redshirt freshman, to 14 as a sophomore, to 29.5 as a junior. He is the personification of head coach Bronco Mendenhall’s building job at UVA.

Charlton Athletic beat Doncaster Rovers to reach the League One play-off final
New Post has been published on https://thebiafrastar.com/charlton-athletic-beat-doncaster-rovers-to-reach-the-league-one-play-off-final/
Charlton Athletic beat Doncaster Rovers to reach the League One play-off final
Krystian Bielik extended Charlton’s lead in the tie inside two minutes of the second leg
Charlton Athletic beat Doncaster on penalties to reach the League One play-off final after Rovers had forced extra-time on a dramatic night at The Valley.
Krystian Bielik’s second-minute header made it 3-1 to the hosts on aggregate and seemed like it would put the Addicks comfortably on course for the final, but a driven effort from Doncaster captain Tommy Rowe and Andy Butler’s late header sent the tie to extra time.
Doncaster went ahead on aggregate for the first time when John Marquis nodded in Mallik Wilks’ centre in the 100th minute, but Darren Pratley made it 4-4 overall when he turned a loose ball home after Marko Marosi had spilled Lyle Taylor’s low cross.
Charlton centre-back Naby Sarr missed the chance to win it in the shootout after Dillon Phillips had saved from Marquis, but Rowe blazed wide to send the Addicks to Wembley and spark a pitch invasion by home fans.
Lee Bowyer’s side will now face Sunderland at the national stadium on Sunday, 26 May, with the south-east London club aiming to end their three-year exile from the Championship.
Relive a dramatic semi-final second leg at The Valley
Charlton, who finished third – 15 points ahead of Rovers in the table – took an early lead through Bielik’s thumping header from Josh Cullen’s clipped free-kick.
The Addicks were unbeaten in 17 home league games coming into the second leg, but a smart flick from Herbie Kane allowed Rowe to equalise and a brilliant low save from Dillon Phillips stopped Marquis from making it 2-1 on the night shortly afterwards.
The second half became increasingly fractious and had few chances of note, although Josh Parker prodded narrowly wide from a ball in from Taylor, before Butler rose high at the back post to head in Ali Crawford’s corner late on and send the match into extra time.
Former Millwall striker Marquis put the visitors ahead with his 26th goal of the campaign but the Addicks hit back immediately through Pratley to send the game to spot-kicks.
Playing at a sold-out stadium, with their biggest crowd since 2012 – the year the Addicks won the League One title – Rowe’s miss allowed the home fans to celebrate with players on the pitch and contemplate a return to the second tier, despite suffering their first home league defeat since October.
Charlton’s progress sets up a repeat of the 1998 second-tier play-off final, when they beat Sunderland 7-6 on penalties following a dramatic 4-4 draw at the old Wembley, a match which included a hat-trick for former Addicks striker Clive Mendonca.
Doncaster Rovers manager Grant McCann:
“I am extremely proud. On reflection, apart from the first half in the first game we were the better team overall.
“The players were outstanding after no-one gave us a chance but, to a man, we were first class. I have a squad who believe in their ability and are together, but unfortunately penalties are a bit of a lottery.
“Everyone should be proud of themselves because we have played them off the park and taken them all the way.
“We had some glorious chances tonight but congratulations to Charlton because they have done it. This has given us a taster for next season and this group will be stronger.”

I would imagine this costume will not be comfortable in Dallas in late August! (Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports)
War Eagle, everybody! It’s time now for the first Auburn game preview of the year! On August 31st, Auburn will travel to Arlington, Texas to take on Oregon in the season opener. These are a pair of dangerous, yet underachieving, teams that were close last year but did not crack the major bowl picture. Auburn exploded offensively in the Music City Bowl, while Oregon managed to hack out a 7–6 win over Michigan State in the Redbox Bowl in Santa Clara.
Head coach Mario Cristobal has had an interesting career, becoming the first Cuban-American head coach in the FBS at Florida International, and delivered the team a Sun Belt title, before being fired a couple of years later. He was snapped up as the offensive line coach by Nick Saban at Alabama and produced some dominating lines. Cristobal left Alabama to take a co-offensive-coordinator spot at Oregon under coach Willie Taggart and coached in one bowl game. Taggart left to take the Florida State job, and Cristobal was elevated to head coach after just 1 game as an assistant.
Last season, Oregon had some issues on defense and allowed over 20 points in every FBS game except in the season ending game against woeful Oregon State. The Ducks lost 4 games last season, and gave up over 30 in every one of the losses. Defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt left, and Coach Cristobal hired defensive coordinator Andy Avalos, who did a good job at Boise State. Avalos is installing a 3-3-5 defense. Oregon is loaded with veteran upper class defensive players, but sometimes the transition to that defense takes time.
Oregon’s offense was good for much of the season behind an offensive line that mostly dominated Pac-12 defensive lines. The last time Auburn played Oregon, the story was a wide-open hurryup offense. Current Oregon offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo is much more deliberate, running a mix of pistol and shotgun sets with some jet motion. Oregon’s offense last season was an attempt at balance, handing off to a committee of running backs, and trying to get the ball to star receiver Dillon Mitchell. Unfortunately for Oregon, Mitchell is gone, and it will have to try and replace his 75 catches last season. Big quarterback Justin Herbert decided to return for his senior year, and he’s the prototypical tall, strong-armed quarterback NFL scouts are looking for. Dillon’s numbers could have been higher, but the offense was plagued at times by dropped passes.
Oregon has a good punter in Blake Maimone, with a strong leg and good placement. Kicking was a bit more dicey with rising junior Adam Stack as he hit on only 6 of 10 field goal attempts. Like Auburn’s Anders Carlson, Stack tended to miss from long range. Oregon was average on kick coverage and pretty good on punt coverage last season.
As of yet, neither team has decided on a punt returner, both having to replace departed seniors. Auburn has the edge in terms of kick returns as teams were deliberately kicking the ball away from Noah Igbinoghene by midseason.
Last season, I pointed out that West Coast spring games tend to be rather lightly attended. Oregon is an exception. Over 35,000 fans turned up for the Duckfest this spring. The most notable thing about the spring game was the oft-maligned receiver corps did not drop a pass.
Unit matchups after the jump!
Auburn defensive line vs. Oregon offensive line: Many folks believe this is the money matchup of the game. Auburn brings back a big, athletic defensive line. Likely starters at tackle are senior Derrick Brown and junior Tyrone Truesdell. Senior strong-side end Marlon Davidson will be a 4-year starter. The buck side is a rotation between juniors Nick Coe and Big Kat Bryant. Auburn can play monster sophomore Nick Coe at any position on the line with great results. Auburn has serious depth all across the line as well. Some pundits claim that Oregon will have the best offensive line in the country. From left to right, that is sophomore Penei Sewell, senior Shane Lemeieux, senior Jake Hanson, senior Dallas Warmack, and senior Calvin Throckmorton. This is a veteran line that allowed just 22 sacks last season, despite the Ducks putting the ball in the air 418 times. Advantage: Even.
Auburn linebackers vs. Oregon backs: Auburn will be breaking in a new starting linebacker rotation, but there is a good bit of playing experience as these guys have been rotating for a couple of years. Auburn will go with junior K. J. Britt in the middle and some combination of junior Chandler Wooten and sophomore Zakoby McClain on the outsides. I would also expect true freshman Owen Pappoe to play early and often. Oregon rotates a couple of good backs. Sophomore C. J. Verdell rushed for 1,018 yards last season as a redshirt freshman. Sophomore Travis Dye added another 739 yards. Verdell caught 27 balls out of the backfield last season as well. Advantage: Even.
Auburn corners vs. Oregon receivers: Auburn has a fairly good combination of starting corners in senior Javaris Davis and junior Noah Igbinoghene . Auburn has depth and experience behind the starters. Oregon has loads of talent in the receiving corps, but they will have to step up this season. I look for sophomore Daewood Davis and junior Johnny Johnson III to start on the outside for the Ducks. Advantage: Even.
Auburn safeties vs. Oregon secondary receivers and quarterback: Auburn’s starting unit features Seniors Jeremiah Dinson and Daniel Thomas at safety. This is a veteran crew with experienced backups. I think Auburn would like to start sophomore Christian Tutt at the nickel spot. Senior Duck quarterback Justin Herbert is a good one and can make every throw. Behind a good offensive line, Herbert can really throw the ball around, throwing for 29 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions last season. Junior Jalen Redd Jones is expected to be the starting slot receiver, and senior Jacob Breeland should start at tight end. Advantage: Even.
Punting: Aaron Siposs had a good rookie campaign punting the football (averaging 44.2 yards per punt) and is expected to be one of the better punters in the SEC this season. Likewise, Oregon returns senior punter Blake Maimone, who averaged 42.5 yards per punt last season. Auburn improved dramatically in coverage last season (3.36 yards per return), and Oregon was good, allowing 7.4. Advantage: Auburn.
Kickoffs: Auburn sophomore Anders Carlson had a great year kicking off, last season, hitting 51 touchbacks on 70 kickoffs. When Carlson didn’t kick it to the end zone, Auburn gave up only 19.44 yards per return. Junior Oregon kicker Adam Stack takes over as the kickoff man this season. Last year, he had 4 kickoffs and zero touchbacks. Oregon gave up 22.7 yards per kick return. Advantage: Auburn.
Place kicking: Auburn sophomore Daniel Carlson hit on just 15 of 25 field goal attempts and was 5 of 14 from 40 yards or more. Adam Stack hit on 6 of 10 field goal attempts last season and was 0 for 2 from long range. Advantage: Auburn.
Auburn offensive line vs. Oregon defensive line: Auburn has 5 veteran seniors returning on the offensive line, and they looked very good in the Music City Bowl and on A-Day. From left to right, it will be Prince Tega Wanogho, Marquel Harrell, Kaleb Kim, Mike Horton and Jack Driscoll. Oregon will use a 3-man line with junior Jordan Scott anchoring the middle. Junior Austin Faoliu and senior Gary Baker will handle the end spots. Oregon will rotate seniors Gus Cumberlander and Drayton Carlberg extensively. The book on beating the 3-3-5 defense is to run right at the 3-man line and get offensive linemen to the second level, creating mismatches against defensive backs and linebackers. The key to Auburn’s success on offense will be whether these Oregon guys can force Auburn to have to double-team block them. I don’t think they can. Advantage: Auburn.
Auburn backs vs. Oregon linebackers: Auburn lost H-back Chandler Cox, a 4-year starter who blew open holes. The real question is who will replace Cox. Right now, senior Spencer Nigh is the only fullback/H-back listed on the roster. Sophomore John Samuel Schenker is likely to get work here as well. Senior Kam Martin is blazing fast but has had durability issues in the past. Sophomore JaTarvious Whitlow took over the top spot last year and is said to be much improved this spring. Senior Malik Miller has size, power, and a few carries here and there but hasn’t been used much. Auburn will face a good, well-coached linebacking corps. Projected to start on the inside are senior Troy Dye and junior Samson Niu. On the outside edges, expect to see senior Lamar Winston, Jr. and sophomore Adrian Jackson. This is a tough matchup for Oregon as linebackers typically have the most trouble converting to this sort of defensive system. Advantage: Auburn.
Auburn receivers vs. Oregon corners: Auburn is moving sophomore Seth Williams to the boundary (X) side of the offense, and the likely starter in the flanker spot is either redshirt freshman Matthew Hill or junior Marquis McClain. While Auburn is young here, Oregon is veteran and capable at cornerback. Juniors Thomas Graham, Jr. and Deommodore Lenior have been there, done that. Advantage: Oregon.
Auburn secondary receivers and quarterback vs. Oregon safeties: All eyes will be on a new Auburn starting freshman quarterback. Whether that will be Joey Gatewood or Bo Nix has yet to be determined. I would expect Oregon to try to go after these guys and cause confusion in the backfield. Auburn has a very speedy and dangerous group of secondary receivers, including junior Eli Stove, senior Will Hastings, and sophomore Anthony Schwartz. Auburn can put big senior receiver Sal Cannella in and get a size mismatch. Oregon’s safeties return from last season, sophomore Jevon Holland and junior Nick Pickett. I think Auburn can create some mismatches in space, but can freshmen quarterbacks take advantage? Advantage: Oregon.
I believe that Auburn must keep this a low-scoring game to have a chance on the fast track in the domed stadium. Offensively, Auburn has so many questions at this point. There is talent across the board, but will it be a polished product on September 1st? History says no. Only once in 6 years has the Gus Malzahn offense come out of the gate firing on all cylinders, and that was in 2014 with a 45–21 pasting of Arkansas. In 2013, Auburn struggled to move on a bad Wazzu defense. In 2015 against Louisville, Jeremy Johnson led the nation in interceptions. In 2016, Auburn tried to run the single wing against Clemson’s 8-man fronts. In 2017, Auburn struggled with sacks and hamstrings against Georgia Southern, which turned out to be a really bad team that year. Auburn sputtered against Washington last season in Atlanta. There’s not enough sunshine for me to pump on this subject. I’d love to be proven wrong by the Auburn players and coaches!
On the other hand, there is a great deal of criticism on the Oregon side about the play calling of Oregon offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo, who is said to be too predictable. I’m not sure I buy it. Footage of the Redbox Bowl was pretty dreadful, but I had more issues with execution than with play calling. Michigan State also showed a good defense in that game. I saw dropped passes. The Spartans would blitz, and the Ducks couldn’t pick it up in the backfield. Sometimes the Ducks had good play calls to take advantage of alignments, and a missed block or two would kill it.
Prediction: Auburn had a virtual home game against Washington last season in Atlanta. The Ducks travel well, and I expect the crowd in Texas to be much more evenly split. It is hard to pick Auburn to win with a freshman quarterback in this game. Auburn falls, 31–27.

Published: 14:08 BST, May 12, 2019 | This tie seemed completely over half the time when Charlton appeared in full control. They are cruising 2-0, but Matty Blair's late goal means that Friday's second leg in South London will not be as easy as it could be.
Lee Bowyer reached the level they reached in the first half where Lyle Taylor and Joe Aribo made it so comfortable for the visitors.

But it was from the left where she then almost were punished. Ben Purrington, the left back, sent a ball to Parker who was not marked but moved wide.

Aan de on the other hand, there was no & # 39; John Marquis to feed. Marquis scored 21 goals this season, but he choked against three central defenders and couldn't find a place.
They needed a different approach and it was James Coppinger, who has been living with the club for 15 years, who thought he had found a way when he was on the edge of the area with a right-handed attempt. It pointed to the top left corner, but Dillon Phillips turned it around.
Not long after, Danny Andrew raised the bar from a free kick at 35 meters. Doncaster at least found a route to the target, but they would get two crushing blows, just as they seemed to find their reach.
Albie Morgan & # 39; s cross from the left was led by Butler but Josh Cullen who was offside but could now play. Cullen headed the ball to the back post, where Taylor had the simple task of going into an open net for his 22nd goal of the season.
Doncaster again lost his way two minutes later. Andrew's attempt to come back immediately returned before Aribo danced left behind the ball.
It was then that Butler and Kieran Sadlier had had to close him, but they did not move and Aribo hit goalkeeper Marko Marosi and the far corner.

Grant McCann tried to motivate his players and there would be an improvement in their game. Marquis is the only one who couldn't find a room in Charlton.
One shot hit the net side and the other was blocked. Mallik Wilks, on loan from Leeds, gave some inspiration on the right. He stayed high on the field and caught Marquis' attention, which in turn caused Charlton & # 39; s backline to stretch.
But while he got crosses in the box, none of his teammates came close to converting them. Perhaps the chance was best to summarize Doncaster's performance when Ben Whiteman controlled the ball in the area.
He had time to make his shot but he hurried to his attempt and sent the ball high over the bar. Then the moment came that the Doncaster fans craved. Wilks' cross was blocked, but Blair put the ball past Phillips.
