Was commissioned to do this for my bf’s gaming channel. It’s his new logo. And I’m really proud of it. Unfortunately, it’s unavailable for use by anyone else, but I wanted to share.

i get lost a lot. i am good at many things, but none are related to direction. these days, sign posts on trails sometimes have QR codes on them. i think about that a lot. after us, will aliens find these little shapes and say - this was religious.

in 50 years, will QR codes be completely out-of-date, so young kids are used to seeing the shape but just assume it means something else; like how floppy discs mean save. looking up at us with their brows knit. what do you mean you had to scan it?

i think a lot about how if i had been born even 50 years ago, i'd be dead by now. there are a lot of reasons for that. i can read a map pretty well, but that sense-of-direction thing will really getcha. i usually wayfind by pulling up my phone's compass. there's something so odd about that - about using something like a smartphone to figure out my cardinal direction. to figure out which way is home.

for a long time, i didn't have a smart phone. whenever we went to places that required a QR code, i'd just have to shift uncomfortably, waiting for someone else's page to load. not to sound like an old grump but - these days it feels like half my world is behind scan this or register with your email to sign-in or sign up for our listing or click the link.

i think a lot about the digital detritus we leave behind. about how different the world looks, literally, than in the 90's. how much waste has become things like laptops, chargers, wires. i think about the drones over city; flying in the shape of an advertisement. i think about graves. my grandmother's had a trademark on it.

in the middle of the woods, someone had put up a jesus is risen laminated poster. it had an underwater turtle on it, which i thought was funny. i took a picture for my group chat. he rises from the deep i guess i send them. the signpost was unhelpful - inconclusive arrow, jesus turtle poster. no map. i pulled up my compass, which is to say i took out my phone.

i wonder how much is waste we're making and how much is just making our mark. at some point, all my writing - this post and all the others - will be left, floating around on the internet. it will all outlive everyone who created any of it. every fic and overly-personal recipe and idle drawing and abandoned webcomic and sanctimonious twitter post.

i hope they are all living in the same place. i hope they get along. i hope they never feel alone.

i hope somewhere out there on the internet, someone or something finds something i left and says - oh. so that's how i get home.

Submas sketchdump! Vol. 1

April-June 2022

Literally dumping all the presentable works as promised, whether I'm proud of them or not! This is where I started, even before the first thing I posted online (That subway station one). Many of these are not on Twitter yet so there's lots to see!

The top piece above the header is my very first digital Submas artwork!! I never finished it bc I didn't know how to pull my vision of as I wanted & started modeling the train and didn't finish that either, whoops! I really want to remake this later and make it super cool!

^^^ My reaction to breaking 500 likes & 100 followers in a single day with my first tweet (the battle subway one) all the way back in May!! I was completely floored by all the attention, oh how it skyrocketed my excitement and anxiety! Crazy times, I was so super nervous to be there with so many amazing artists and doubted if I could ever survive there ahahah!! Many had joined the community much much earlier than me, so I had arrived with a late train to PLA/neo Submas hype!

One of my fav sketches! Been saving this for so long bc I really really want to finish this one day!

One of the first submas sketches with an actual story behind it! The subway bosses are running late for their flight because they didn't pass the safety check! The irony!! This would never happen as bosses are always on schedule. But Emmet hadn't noticed a wild Joltik hiding under his coat, so he set up the alarm and they got examined and interrogated of smuggling! How embarrassing for them! The bosses resolved the situation by catching the Joltik, but will they be able to catch their flight anymore?? Maybe if Elesa can distract the stuerts performing the safety protocol for a minute!

A few examples of how my pencil sketches evolve.

I've done so much art experimenting with submas. I really like this black & white painting but I don't think I'll finish it anytime soon.

Where did you go?

The way I draw the twins' faces has changed a lot. They started with softer features and somewhat neutral emotions, because I wasn't as familiar with them or comfortable drawing them yet. Now there's hundreds of submas sketches, and they still keep evolving! My style is also kinda hard to pull off well, so their features differ from picture to picture.

This one was inspired by some submas music videos, can't recall their names anymore. The glowing eerie eyes and yellow&orange + black&white color schemes were neat!

I keep telling myself I need to draw more butlers, these twinks look so lean and neat and have more color and are posh with their monocles and have fun tailcoats!

(...why eyeglasses are not called binocles??)

I was there for the vinegar chaos. Good times!

Imp! Vega and Pet NSFW drabbles

The moan that left Vega's lips was positively sinful, his Pet's lips wrapped around his length as they hummed. Those supplicant eyes looked up at him, even as tears welled in the corners from the lack of air; he really couldn’t have asked for a better pet. If the Sadism demon hadn’t known better, he would have thought that they had been made specifically for him, their body solely for his touch alone. His to debase, to defile, to punish and then to soothe and to hold. He hadn’t lied when he said they were like treasure.

A buzz of panic danced across his pet’s threads, drawing his attention away from his pleasure. A low, weak whine sounded from their throat before the sound died with the last of the air in their lungs. Vega smirked down at them, his eyes glowing in the dim of the room.

“Stay where you are, darling. I know you’re not at your limit yet.” He projected his thoughts into their mind. He ran a soothing hand through their hair, before the digits tightened and his pet’s throat spasmed around his shaft as he slid just a little deeper.

It was a game they often played, testing their limits just shy of breaking. It was a simple matter to monitor their emotions, that was a demonic trademark after all, but it allowed him to recognize that fine line between ‘just enough’ and ‘too much’. A very useful tool that he used to make sure he didn’t break his little toy in a way they didn’t truly want. Especially when his little pet had gone completely nonverbal, knowing that they didn’t need any words with him, he could understand them perfectly through this bond of theirs.

The arousal coursing along their threads warred with the panic, that fear only feeding the desire that dripped from them. It was only when the panic overtook the pleasure that he released the grip on their hair and pulled out of their throat. The sharp intake of breath when he was free sent them coughing, and his fingers wound through their hair again. They didn’t shy away from the sharp points of his nails, instead leaning into the touch as they took in large, shuddering breaths.

“That’s it, Pet. Breathe in….hold….and out. Again.” Vega gently scratched their scalp, right at the spot that sent a tingling sort of tickle down their neck that had their eyelids fluttering. They still kept their eyes on his, ever his obedient little toy. “Very good. Let’s really test your endurance this time, hmmm?”

Vega traced the tips of his nails along his pet’s throat, barely touching but it still made his little plaything shiver. He hummed as he admired the bruises the adorned their neck. They were faded from their last session days ago, the Imperium stooges were much more acquiescing in letting them visit him when it was for carnal desire instead of actually feeding him. Still, the bruises could have been healed with a bit of magic, or even concealed with make up. But his Pet always wore them proudly, never trying to hide the marks he left on their skin. The Sadism demon found himself pleased by that, this little human must face ostracization or ridicule for their devotion to a demon, a race that was oh so looked down upon on this plane. But he never sensed regret in them.

“Come up, Pet. Straddle me.” The command was quick to be obeyed, his pet’s thighs straining to frame his own. He could alter his form of course, make it easier for them, but he knew how much they like the size difference between them. They liked how he dwarfed them, how easily he could manhandle them, how small and delicate they were in comparison. “Arch your head back, bare that pretty throat to me.”

Another order eagerly obeyed, their eyes dilatating as their breath caught in their throat. He tilted their head a little further back with a finger under their chin before he pressed his lips against theirs. Their mouth opened easily to his, inviting in his dominating tongue and sharp teeth. He couldn’t stop himself from nipping at their soft lip, just shy from drawing blood but it drew a gasp from them. Vega chuckled softly as he ducked his head to press his lips against their throat, gifting them a kiss there before biting down on one of their fading bruises.

Their thighs clenched against his but they kept still otherwise, he hadn’t given them permission to move, after all. His teeth sank into their delicate skin until copper bloomed on his tongue and his pet let out a shaky mewl. “Such an obedient little thing. So eager for me to mark your skin and claim you as my own. So proud to wear the proof of my ownership.”

Vega’s tongue swiped the drops of their blood from his lips, noting that the punctures from his canines were already clotting. Their chest rose in a heaving breath as they blinked up at him, “I-I am…proud to be yours.” Their voice was little more than a rasping whisper, so unused during their time together.

He hummed as he cradled their jaw in his hand, his thumb tracing along their cheek. “You’re such a good pet…I think that calls for a reward, don’t you?”

Vega had never considered the positives of taking on a physical form. It was something he was required to do when he joined Dahlia’s haven, they didn’t want demons to go undetected after all. But their hatred for his kind was a wonderful meal for him, so he stayed, even with the stipulation. He just never thought about how euphoric this form could feel.

His hips slapped against his Pet’s as he thrust inside them, their inner walls clenching oh so deliciously around his length. Actually enjoys art class the most out of his other classes

Usually turns things in on time , but forgets the little things though like those stupid papers that tell you to copy and draw a nose 3 times

likes using charcoal pencils !! It’s his favorite out of everything , but he dislikes how messy it gets because the charcoal always covers his hands and arms .

not the best at painting , but he’s well known of his complimentary colors and what looks good with what .

Usually listens to music while he’s drawing if Taylor is busy or gone from class . He likes taking instrumental recommendations from Ashlyn .

Takes a drawing class , obvi , along with Taylor because he didn’t really want to be alone . Plus , She’s a nice buddy to have !!

TAYLOR !! :

Takes a drawing class with Ben as said before !! Whenever they have to pick partners , they go for each other the most .

she’s not the BEST at drawing honestly , but she takes it so she can study in machinery , like drawing and mapping out designs .

She likes using those kids markers , whatever their called . She prefers using the marker FIRST then going over it with pencil to really pop out the design . Digital art also works out for her , it’s one of her favorites because there’s so many options ( sometimes )

uses google for inspo or to copy certain parts down cause Pinterest is blocked on the computers and drawing gears is hard to do ( real 😿 )

Draws little cats on her work when she’s bored or smiley faces on Bens work just cause she’s silly ( trademarked smiley — Aiden / j )

Doesn’t have photography , but she does join Logan after school to help out with certain camera functions or just take photos of eachother for her memory book ( she has one , cannot tell me otherwise )

Also uses highlighters just cause . I mean they’re fun so why not . Her and Aiden share a bunch of random stickers that he got on like eBay for customization 😼

Went into painting just so he can have fun with the colors and , sigh … he’s good at mixing them . ( he’s not allowed too , but he makes it work out . Sometimes )

RARELY gets things done in time , like he’ll be doing anything other then drawing in class , yet somehow turn it in . Well , after a few weeks past the due date .

becahse of that , no one really knows what he draws but the teacher is impressed so 🤷

I like to imagine he has one other hidden room in his house , filled with unfinished paintings , sketches , projects , puzzles , yadda . He hasn’t really shown anyone where it is , or let’s anyone inside but has let Ben check it out a few times cause he’s special 🫶

Always does his projects in his room . Why ? Cause it’s bigger , more room to work , duh . Also , so he can BLAST music because music just gives him ideas of what he can work on ( projection go hard 🤟🤟🤟 )

he doesn’t really care what he uses , but he hates charcoal , opposed to Ben . It gets everywhere ( in a bad way ) , it’s dull , he hates having to blend it with those stupid paper things because they sound and feel gross , yadda yadda yadda . Butttt he LOVES markers and crayons . Colored pencils work if he’s feeling slightly unmotivated .

uses giant AF canvas’s cause more room to work plus more detail . He loves detailing the most random stuff because it all had to blend correctly , right ? 😼☝️

likes pottery , but he doesn’t like the feeling of it drying on his hands . It’s gross and crusty . Plus he got in trouble once for throwing some of it around the class lol

Totally draws on his arms with sharpie ( ashlyn tells him no cause poisoning or something but pshhhh what does she know ? He’ll still doodle on his pants ) .

Probably does Rubix cube art when he’s feeling extra silly . Also glues and sticks whatever he can find onto what he’s working on for pizazz . But he doesn’t really like anything he’s made so 😿

also the reason why he has so many unfinished projects is because woopsy doo ADHD . It’s always “ oh I should work on this one “ but then there’s “ but this once looks funner to do “ but oh then there’s a “ which one would take me less time to do ? “ and “ if I do this first will I have time to do the other one ? “ and either ends up doing nothing or multitasking .

ASH TRAY !!! :

Takes painting with Aiden because she really didn’t want to go alone .

thought about pottery once , tried it , hated the feeling of it getting under her nails and it kept drying up and she had to wash her hands constantly and it kept getting in her hair and it was a bad experience . ( more projection )

painting really isn’t her favorite , but she likes the look of the colors mixing and it’s kinda like dancing to her , with the long , sometimes constant movements and new variations . Look it just puts her in a slight trance .

doesn’t do well with creativity coming into play , but she managed to find a way with turning art into dance , like referencing other dancers online and copying their moments onto a canvas to make it dramatic or something .

Prefers prismacolor pencils over most things , sometimes joins Taylor and Logan after school to try out photography .

Sometimes she and Aiden would share headphones and put on a shared playlist or a podcast on spotify . They always bicker about it though because ashlyn skips through songs often and Aiden can’t sit on a podcast unless it’s playing somewhere background ( still working on this one cause would that work ? Sharing headphones and listening to stuff or would that be too loud cause I’m not sure )

for once please can she see what Aiden has done like he’s always on his phone or playing with another puzzle from his backpack how do they fit in there anyway just Plsplslpsopls he has a good grade in this class how he’s so confusing sometimes double U - tea - eph

Joined because he already does baseball why not choose something to maybe help him relax

Bad choice , does not relax him ( most of the time ) , can’t understand color theory ( same ) , ended up getting put into the same class with Aiden ( remember when Aiden threw pottery ? Yeah . . Also ashlyn is there that’s cool but still )

He still likes hanging with Aiden , he just won’t admit it and it gets harder and harder too when he keeps writing and drawing on his work ( and him too 😡😡 )

Pretty fond of water coloring , it’s one of the few things that he enjoys doing in his pass time . . . But he’s not that good at keeping the water to a minimum so it ends up dripping everywhere .

He’s not that good at art either , but he’s pretty good at poses , specifically ones he can remember like the “ batter up ! “ stance in baseball or his signature “ crosses my arms and stares at you begrudgingly “ . He’s REALLY good at that one .

He teaches Ben Guitar , Ben teaches him easier ways to draw . Not a babyish style , but just a simplified way to do something without putting too much thought into it .

he and Taylor team up in art projects , but not in class , at home . Ash and Aiden usually partner up in class , and since he and Taylor have seperate classes there , who’s to say they can’t help eachother else where ? Twin telepathy ! ( I think , idk )

Just finishes quick and turns it in . He gave effort , and that’s good enough . If he really wants to try and ‘ finish ‘ finish it , he will . Trust .

DIALOG(an)UE !! :

Literally the only one in the group who really takes pottery ( he’s lonely someone help him )

dw Barron isnt there . He got kicked out for throwing clay at people ( mostly Logan )

pretty good at using the utensils , one of the only people the teacher can trust to use them correctly

the pottery wheel isn’t his favorite favorite because sometimes it spins to fast and clay gets splattered everywhere , but it’s better then starting from scratch , and turns out really nice when he gets into the zone or something

made mugs for his grandparents !! ( and the gang , which they all used theirs for many different things . They love it )

not that good at coming up with particular designs , so he usually asks for help . Doesn’t matter who , he’s open to everyone’s ideas 😋☝️☝️

About the Raph having a normal job ask, I imagine him being like a bouncer/bodyguard for some fancy private club or something. It probably sounds super obvious bc Big Strong Man but I can imagine him having to pretend to be all tough and shit but on the inside he's huffing and puffing and trying not to cry FDJFK As for the art trademark thing, probably how polished your art is! It's always super clean and there's like no stray marks or anything, and I'm not sure how exactly to word it but it feels like you have a lot of control in your lines and strokes? Idk if this is really a style thing but it seems like you're able to quickly draw the strokes exactly as you want them and the image is immediately there with little fixing required. At least that's the vibe I get, idk do you ever have to go back and erase or redraw things a lot?

My sketch is almost always the lineart. I just erase everything until the line looks how I want it. That’s digital tho. When I’m at work I got NO CHOICE but to make that line work cause I only use pens I find

Father of Dragons

Yes, I'm a freak.

But those three dragons are just so perfect for this!!! 😭

I used this picture of a statue (?) of GoT's Daenerys with her baby dragons as a template (and the background, obviously) to change it into Seto Kaiba with his BEWDs.

This is still part of my exploring journey to work out the possibilities and chances of digital art.

Seto having three dragons just as Daenerys was just so fitting! I wanted to tackle that motive a little bit more directly and came up with this idea.

At first I considered drawing Seto in his trademark duelling-attire, since I needed something white and long to flow down to the floor as Danys gown does. But I thought it wouldn't fit well into the fantasy-middleage-style background. And seriously, guys! I still don't get the physique of that Kaiba-Coat!! 😂 There is no way I would be able to get that one right! It wouldn't be as appealing in a sitting position, would it? That thing is made to be worn standing, with a bad-ass gush of wind sending it flying! Sooooo, that's why I chose this white outfit. I think it fits into the scene pretty well, as it seems a little more prince-lilke... 😇

Drawing without outlines was all new for me. I wanted my drawing to look a tiny little bit more "realistic" (fail... 😂) so it would fit into the background better.

As great as this was, I still kinda crave using my watercolors. Digital painting has so many practical and cool aspects, but there are downsides as well. (For example, the constant urge to make everything perfect, get tinyest details right and and redo things over and over again!) Hope that I'll be able to come back with traditional paintings soon... ☺️

P.S.: I am NEVER going to draw those dragons again! What a f****ing pain!! 😭

A wild smiling ladybug appears! 🐞

Backstory to this drawing (TW: mental health):

16-Oct-2023 ◇ Two days after a bad panic attack, I just sat at my desk, opened an old sketchbook and drew Ladybug's profile and smiling face from memory. I'm not entirely sure why. It just felt like the right thing to do at that time. A couple of weeks later, I still liked the drawing, so I made a digital version with some simple flats. Full disclosure: I had to look where to put the spots (even fuller disclosure: I'm still not sure where to put all of them lol)

Anyway, there was (and still is) something very calming for me when looking at these characters. I guess that's what my brain tried to portray. I still like this unfinished piece and it brings me peace, so I thought I might as well share it.
