There’s a smoothie place near where my wife works called Nutrition Smoothie and if you look inside it’s “open”, but there are no smoothie machines and you never see anybody in there except sometimes maybe one guy behind the counter. We have a running gag about what would happen if you tried to go in and actually order something bc it’s so obviously a front.

i have always been more of a vampire girl than a werewolf girl but last night i had a thought that changed my mind: as a diabetic, could a werewolf partner smell my hypos? like those service dogs?

this might be a niche pet peeve but i hate when i’m reading a fanfic and the author makes a character type one diabetic and you can tell that they’ve never had a conversation with a diabetic person. it’s giving that one julia roberts scene in steel magnolias but worse.

I've been addicted to cola drinks for close to two decades (started out as me desperate and unconscious attempt at self-medicating ADHD), and all my attempts at quitting have failed. And I don't think I'm still quitting, but I accidentally found something that severely curbs my need for cola drinks:

Mandarin juice.

Specifically Fun Light juice concentrate, which to my mother's and diabetic friend's delight is sugar free. I have no idea what it is about mandarin juice that does it, but so far I have reliably wanted it instead of cola. They are even on the saime aisle in my regular store and I walked right past all the cola drinks without even looking. Weird, but I'm not complaining. The juice is cheaper and many juice bottles were added to the deposit system some time ago, so I even get tiny bit of money back when I return the bottle.

I also bought Cola juice concentrate and so far I am not impressed. I will probably mix it with mandarin juice so it won't go to waste.

I ate a decent supper, I had sugar in my coffee, I didn't take any rapid insulin, and I had 2 lollipops. Why the hell am I still having low glucose alarms?

Now what? I have no more food. I have a glucagon inhaler but you're supposed to call rescue after using it and I really don't want to do that. I suppose I'll have to call anyway if I drop too low or risk blacking out again.

Cause I'm an idiot. I accidentally injected 10 units of insulin when changing my pumps reservoir and canula 🙃. Now each unit bring me down by roughly 4mmol/L glucose levels, I am currently at 3.6mmon/L 🙃.

So to counter this, I need to consume 100g of carbs, as 1 unit of insulin equals to 10grams of carbohydrates for me. But to counter my hypoglycaemia I need an additional 30grams of carbs.

As I am currently in hypoglycaemia I do not want to eat at all and would rather fight someone, or do maths (love maths) or make a really long post about what I should be doing instead of doing it.

So the only thing I have on hand to treat my hypo is percy pigs, which I am quickly starting to hate the existence of.

I do not want to eat anymore than I have to, so to avoid going downstairs and weighing them I am trying to look up the weight of a single one online.

I did not get a straightforward answer, which led to the maths. I am not putting the maths on here, just know I made it a lot harder than it had to be.

Love having hypos in the middle of the night.
