pass outs and paperwork II fresa putellas (oc) x solstrÄle engen (oc)
the people have spoken - a little fresa x sol fic set in the future after theyâve gotten together written by @girlgenius1111 and i for your enjoyment! pass outs and paperwork II fresa putellas (oc) x solstrĂ„le engen (oc)
âand youâre sure i have to do this?â sol sighed heavily, refusing to make a move from the passenger seat as mapi cut the engine off, having parked right outside the clinic. âsĂ mi sol, unless you would rather go back to the doctor and-â the norwegians seatbelt was undone and she practically flew from the car making mapi chuckle.
âcan we get a coffee first? we should get a coffee first.â sol tried to run and was stopped in her tracks by the shorter spaniard in front of her. âno you have to fast you know this nena. i reminded you, ingrid reminded you and i know fresa reminded you. clinic first, coffee later, i will even buy you lunch after.â mapi patted her back, turning her around and lovingly pushing her forward toward the clinic.
âoh wait, my phone! i left my phone in the car mapi i have to go back and get it." sol scoffed again trying to turn back as mapi hummed knowing it was a lie, shaking her head and turning her back around, a slightly harsher shove forward this time.
sol couldnât even take her time entering as the doors were of course automatic, opening by themselves the moment she was within a foot's distance, mapiâs hands on her shoulders still walking her forward despite their obvious height difference the defender was stronger than she seemed.
âvamos solstrĂ„le, that nurse there is cute eh? should we go talk to her?â mapi teased making sol roll her eyes, the norwegian's girlfriend not having noticed them come in yet as she sat typing away at the front desk.
âsheâs not technically a registered nurse yet actually she-'' sol started, words dying in her mouth as fresa heard her voice and looked up, smiling in their direction as the older girl's knees buckled making mapi snort with amusement and mutter some sort of teasing remark under her breath.
âbon dia! i will not lie marĂa, i really did not think you would get her here." fresa grinned as the pair arrived in front of her, only three other people sat in the waiting room. âhey!â sol frowned as her girlfriend sent her a wink, reaching under the desk and grabbing out a clipboard with a new patient's form and a pen.
âfill this in then bring it back over and weâll head back, donât lie on it solstrĂ„le.â fresa warned, a perfectly manicured finger held up menacingly as her girlfriend's eyes rolled and she grabbed the clipboard, the younger girl blowing her a kiss and turning back to the monitor in front of her.
âdios mio you really see the alexia in her as she gets older donât you? i thought it was bad when she was a niña but now she is so bossy, just like her hermana!â mapi tutted as the pair sat down in the waiting room, sol starting to fill in the new patient sheet with a hum.
âtranslate please.â the norwegian gave in with a defeated sigh after struggling through the first two questions, shifting the clipboard onto the defender's knee and handing her the pen.
it shocked her that mapi barely had to check anything with her, near flawlessly filling in all of her health details and only clarifying a few small things here and there when the defender wasnât sure.
âacabado. now go give it to that cute bossy nurse!â mapi handed her back the clipboard with a smirk anna wink as sol shot her a dirty look. âyeah yeah sheâs not a nurse, now hurry up iâm hungry!â mapi mocked, shooing for her to go, pulling out her phone as the girl stood.
âyouâre hungry? iâm the one whose fasting! you ate two dinners last night!â the younger girl scoffed as the spaniard just impatiently waved her off toward the front desk.
âgracias amor!â fresa sang out, plucking the paper from the girl's grasp, setting it down in front of her and beginning to quickly type everything into their system to set her up with a clinic profile.
âyou look very pretty today.â sol smiled charmingly, resting her chin on her fist as her girlfriend glanced up in amusement with a small smile.
âyou look pretty everyday.â âyou look prettier.â âyouâre the prettiest.â âyou look prettier than the prettiest so-â
âexcuse me this is a work environment not a bar, be professional putellas no flirting with the patients!â fresa rolled her eyes as one of her coworkers, carmen, joined her, watching with a grin as sol's face flushed bright red in embarrassment and she quickly straightened up from where sheâd been leaning against the front desk.
âignore her cari. she is just joking, jealous and hopelessly lonely.â fresa teased her friend with a sarcastic pout who pulled a face back, the catalan sending her girlfriend a wink as she finished inputting her information into their system.
âvale. ready?â the younger girl pushed back out of her chair, swapping out with her coworker who sent sol a kind smile and took her seat at the monitor, fresa moving out from the front desk. âno.â the norwegian mumbled nervously under her breath, following slowly after her girlfriend as mapi joined them, the trio heading out of reception and toward the collection rooms down the hall.
âgo into this one here. solstrĂ„le mi amor up on the bench and take your hoodie off por favor, mapi you sit down in that chair, and i will be just a minute." fresa slid open a door on the right and gestured inside. âoh and donât touch anything marĂa, i mean it.â the youngest putellas warned seriously, closing the door again and leaving the pair alone.
âsee! diablillo. so bossy, just like alexia.â mapi scoffed, though the norwegian kicked her gently as the older girl immediately reached out to grab a 3D model of a heart from the desk in front of her. âwell she has a point.â sol chuckled as mapi huffed and crossed her arms, dropping the model back down on the desk. though seeing sol's face pale as she looked around at the posters and shrugged off her hoodie mapi sat up properly knowing she was needed now.
âhey. mi sol you will be fine nena, you are in the best hands possible you know fresa would never hurt you.â mapi promised softly, a hand settling on the younger girl's knee as she sat up on the bench with a shaky nod, chest tightening with anxiety as her left leg bounced lightly up and down.
the norwegian jumped suddenly as the door slid open again and closed with a small bang, her girlfriend returning with an armful of vials and a box of gloves, setting them down and messing about grabbing out a few more items from the drawers beneath.
âdid you touch this? i said no touching, tonta! why do you have such big ears if you cannot use them to listen?â the brunette narrowed her eyes, smacking mapi on the shoulder and moving the 3D heart back where it came from as the older girl whined about abusing clients in the workplace making fresa roll her eyes.
ânow cariño do you want me to explain exactly what i am doing as i go, or do you want me to go ahead and have the bocaza distract you?â fresa stopped right in front of her girlfriend, hands on her knees and a kind smile on her lips as she jerked her thumb toward the tattooed defender beside her.
mapi scoffing in offence at the nickname she muttered something under her breath, resisting the urge to sweep the youngest putellasâs legs out from beneath her.
âi donât know.â sol answered quietly, fresa grabbing her hands where they nervously fidgeted in her lap. âokay. well first i am going to get this band and wrap it around your bicep, then i will pump it with air and that will feel strange but it is to cut off the blood flow so it is easier for me to find your vein.'' fresa explained softly, sol nodding in understanding.
âaquĂ bebĂ©, fiddle with this but try to sit still, then we can get this done faster!â the younger girl messed around with the tie on the woven bracelet on her wrist.
sol knew it held a large amount of meaning to her girlfriend, given to fresa by her sister alba to help with her own nerves when she was much younger, the girls older sister now always replacing it with a new one sheâd make when the strings would fray and fade.
managing to untie it fresa wasted no time tugging it off and slipping it onto her girlfriend's wrist, tying it back up with a smile and softly kissing the taller girls palm as mapi fake gagged, a loud smack echoing as again fresaâs hand collided this time with the back of her head.
âbocaza, distract her.â fresa ordered addressing mapi this time with a click of her fingers as she grabbed out the band. âno please? no manners? your hermana raised you better than this.â mapi tutted as fresa rolled her eyes. âstop feeding alexiaâs delusions that sheâs my mami, she is already too protective.â the girl huffed, grabbing her girlfriends arm and wrapping the band around before starting to pump the air which sure enough felt strange as sol grimaced.
âdo you think when ale has kids they will call you tĂa or hermana?â
âmarĂa, you are supposed to be distracting sol, not annoying me. or one of these needles might slip and fall into your leg, or maybe your forehead. ya sabes i am not trained in botox butâŠâ fresa threatened as her girlfriend cracked a genuine smile and mapiâs jaw fell open in shock.
âif we were not in your place of work, diablilloâŠâ mapi inhaled with a shake of her head, the younger spaniard smirking and sending her girlfriend a wink. âi can take you anyday leĂłn. i have before!'' fresa reminded as mapiâs face blushed red at the memory. âyou cheated and i was drunk! that does not count.â the defender huffed.
âwhen barca won the champions league a few years ago we went to a big party afterwards with all the family and friends. mapi had a few too many shots and tried to lift leila onto her shoulders, she fell over and thought i pushed her and then tried to tackle me-â fresa recounted, sols eyes never leaving her face nodding along with the story.
â-but she missed and tackled a pot plant instead. then she tried again but tackled alexia because she could not see straight, and la tonta can show you the photo of the black eye which followed.â fresa finished, grinning at the melodic sound of her girlfriend's laugh. âthat is not how it happened putellas!â mapi scoffed incredulously, shaking her head.
âi was minding my own business just trying to celebrate with the team. then i tried to hug your sister, diablillo stuck her leg out and tripped me over out of nowhere, and sent me flying into a table and i smacked my face on the corner." mapiâs hands flew around the room determined to defend her honour.
ânot what happened.â fresa whispered to sol as mapi continued to rant and rave behind her. âhas mapi told you about the time she and leila looked after me for the weekend when i was little?â fresa spoke up again as the norwegian shook her head.
âshe tied us up and tortured us for two days!â mapis hands flung up into the air as sol grinned watching her neck and ears turn red with frustration. âi told you both i was in charge, you did not listen. you should be embarrassed, letting an eleven year old tie you both up.â fresa shook her head as mapi scoffed. âyou tricked us! you pretended to be sad you were left behind and said you wanted to-â
âand done!â the norwegians eyes widened in shock at her girlfriend who interrupted. âwhat? already?â even mapi was stunned into silencing her stories, both girls wide eyed as fresa nodded.
âsĂ. i told you, i am the best!â fresa shrugged, unwrapping the pressure band and setting it down beside sol on the bench as she grabbed out a marker and started to fill in the labels on the eight vials of blood sheâd taken while her girlfriend was distracted.
âyou even got a lollipop because you were such a good girl.â fresa smiled smugly, holding out the jar to her girlfriend and relishing in the way the girl's entire face blushed beet red at her words and she hastily grabbed one.
with the norwegian the tall and tattooed individual she was everyone always assumed the dynamic between the pair would sway in her favour, which was occasionally true (when fresa allowed it), though really fresa enjoyed nothing more than watching how easily she could get the seemingly more dominant girl to crumble, knowing in reality most of the time she was anything but.
âwait, are those all from solstrĂ„le?â mapi asked wide eyed as fresa's head whipped around to glare at the defender, solâs own eyes dropping to the vials of blood. âpor quĂ© preguntas eso, estĂșpido idiota!â fresa hissed, mapiâs mouth opening and closing trying to find an answer.
though their pending argument was cut off by a loud thud, sol having passed out and fallen to the floor collapsed in a heap, mapi dropping to her knees right away to lay her down properly as fresa let out a loud groan, burying her face in her hands.
âpor el amor de dios! marĂa do you know how much extra paperwork i have to do now because she passed out? i had a near perfect patient record until this, and i just came off my probationary period!â fresa groaned dragging her hands down her face with a sigh.
âmi sol? sol? nena? solstrĂ„le?â mapi repeated, tapping gently at the norwegianâs cheeks with the back of her hand. âfresa make her wake up, i hate when she does this.â the girl demanded with a scowl.
âwell whose fault is it that she passed out marĂa? you just had to point out the blood didnât you? idiota!â fresa bit back and rolled her eyes at the spaniardâs panic, knowing well enough by now that this was a normal occurrence for her girlfriend any time she saw blood.
âthis happens when she pulls on a hangnail too hard and seeâs a drop of red, how are you not used to it by now mapi?â âwell fresa i do not like my girlfriendâs hermanita looking lifeless on the ground in front of me, would you like to call ingrid and tell her what has happened?â
at those words fresa paled and dropped to her knees, admittedly quite terrified of her girlfriends older sister despite the fact ingrid had never really given her a reason to be, mumbling a quiet âno thank you.â
with a light touch to her cheek and soft encouraging murmur from the younger girl, sol was blinking her eyes open, a glazed over look finding its way onto her face as she recognized her girlfriend hovering above her.
âoh hi fres.â the norwegian mumbled, smile only growing when the girl above her smirked back. âhola dopey, did you have a nice nap?â the spaniard teased with a wink, tracing sols jaw with her thumb.
âsol! ay dios mio nena, you have to stop doing that.â mapi exhaled dramatically, clutching at her chest as if the poor girl had just attempted some life risking feat and not fainted at the sight of her own blood.
âyou should not have pointed out the b-l-o-o-d and she would have been fine!â fresa snapped, though her touch remained gentle as she ran her thumb across solâs cheek and forehead, tracing across the taller girls worry lines which she knew from past experiences helped to ground her again.
âi can spell.â sol interrupted. âi know you just spelled blood, iâm not stupid.â âof course not mi amor, maria is the only stupid one here. do you want another lollipop?â
âyes please!â sol replied excitedly, effectively distracted, though it meant she sat up much too fast. âuh oh.â the girl mumbled, head spinning at the sudden movement.
sol shut her eyes tightly, reaching out to grab on to the nearest stable object; that just happened to be mapiâs arm. with a sigh, the defender lowered the girl back down onto the ground mumbling something inaudible and encouragingly squeezing her shoulder.
though whatever was said seemed to reach fresaâs ears who smacked the footballer on the shoulder with an unimpressed glare before getting back up to her feet to finish labelling the vials, handing mapi the jar of lollipops as sol blinked groggily.
âi will be back. once she is a little more stable can you try to get her back up on that bench? legally i am not allowed to let her leave until her heart rate is normal and i test her blood sugar levels.â fresa sighed, collecting the vials and addressing mapi who nodded.
stepping out fresa made her way out back where only staff were permitted, bagging up the vials and slapping on the sticker of her girlfriends details, carefully placing it into the storage fridge and hurrying through to reception where carmen still sat typing.
âcan you print me off an incident report please?â fresa asked quietly. âwhat? did you try to have sex with your girlfriend in one of the rooms and get caught?â the older girl teased as the younger girls ears burned red in humiliation. âcarmen! cĂĄllate.â fresa hissed looking around to make sure no one heard as carmen rolled backward to grab the paperwork from the printer.
ârelax chica i am only teasing. is everything okay?â the girl asked, much kinder this time handing fresa the stack of papers who nodded. âsĂ, estĂĄ bien. solstrale is not good with blood, she took a look at her vials and passed out.â fresa sighed as carmen smiled.
âand you know to-â âmonitor her heart rate, check her blood sugars, keep her till i am happy with the results?â fresa recounted in a somewhat questioning tone as carmen nodded happily. âperfecta.â the older girl praised filling fresa with pride as she nodded.
âoye fres? when you are done, take your break. go get some lunch with tu novia!â carmen informed as the spaniard frowned.
âare you sure? you started before me so you take your hour first?â fresa questioned as carmen waved her off. âoh sĂ, i just have to check with the managerâŠâ she paused looking around for a second until her eyes fell down to her nametag on her scrubs.
âoh look, that is me! and i say it is fine, now go before i change my mind amiga.â
~
âsol will drive you home?â eli questioned as she parked outside the apartment building where her youngest daughters girlfriend lived. âsĂ mami, and i will be home before ten. gracias!â the girl leaned across the console to kiss her mamis cheek, unbuckling and stretching over to grab her bag from where it sat on the backseat.
âmija do not forget to tell her about family dinner on friday, i will make her favourite!â eli called after her youngest who frowned. âwhy do you always cook her favourite? you used to like me more than my girlfriend, eli.â the girl scoffed, paling instantly at the hardened look at the use of her mamis first name.
âlo siento mami, i will tell her.â fresa apologised quickly, waving goodbye again before using the key given to her by her sol and letting herself into the building.
stepping out of the elevator fresa barely knocked twice at the front door before it swung open, a squeal leaving the girls mouth as her feet were no longer touching the floor, her girlfriend tossing her over her shoulder.
âsolstrĂ„le! put me down tonta, ya mismo!â fresa laughed hitting the taller girl on the back who ignored her, kicking the door closed and carrying her further into the apartment making a beeline for her bedroom.
âhi fresa!â ingrid called out with a small smile from the kitchen where she was making dinner, mapi out walking scout to burn off his extra energy since heâd been home alone all day.
âhola ingrid!â was all the girl could get out before sol made it to her room, dropping her girlfriend very ungracefully onto her bed and closing the door. âdoor open solstrĂ„le!â her sister yelled out in warning as sol groaned but opened it just ajar again.
âmi amor no i need a shower por favor i still have my scrubs on and-â but the catalans protests fell on deaf ears, her girlfriend flopping down on top of her without a care. âyou can shower later.â the norwegian decided for her, hand patting her cheek lightly as she wriggled around to get comfortable.
âthere is blood on them.â but at that she shot bolt upright, rolling off fresa who grinned and pushed herself off the bed. âhey no there isnât!â sol scowled looking her girlfriend and her seemingly clean scrubs up and down and crossing her arms, fresa only sticking her tongue out and grabbing her bag off the floor, making a beeline for her girlfriends ensuite.
âdo you have to do all of that?â the norwegian groaned, dragging herself into the bathroom as fresa made her way through her post shower skincare routine. âyou already look pretty all the time babe, even without all this shit on your face.â the girl mumbled, hugging her shorter girlfriend from behind, hunched over and scowling.
âsĂ amor, quiero.â fresa chuckled, patting sols hands which rested on her stomach as the girl huffed, unwrapping herself and taking a seat on the lid of the toilet. âi am done anyway cariño, your turn!â fresa cheered as sol threw her head back with a loud groan, her girlfriend moving her legs apart so she could stand between them.
âno i donât wan-â but before she could even finish her sentence sol grimaced and quickly closed her mouth, moisturiser already being smeared across her face as the older girl deflated with defeat, allowing fresa to do as she wanted.
though when finally fresa was done and sol was ready to pull her into bed, ingrid called that dinner was ready and her girlfriend was already up and headed out, the norwegian groaning and begrudgingly following after her to the table.
âno we donât want to watch a movie, no we donât want to play a game, no we donât want to hang out with you both but great dinner so good so delicious one of your best thank you bye!â sol rambled out quickly once theyâd all finished their food and fresa had of course insisted she help clean up, grabbing her girlfriends hand and practically hauling her back toward the bedroom, ignoring mapiâs teasing remarks yelled after them.
âfinally!â sol exhaled, ever so carefully closing her door with the softest of clicks, waiting a moment and when ingrid didnât yell for it to open again she let go of the handle.
âwait what? what are you doing?â sol frowned as fresa was knelt down rummaging through her backpack, not making herself comfortable in the middle of the bed like she normally would be, scout already curled up on the end waiting patiently.
âstudying amor, i have a unit due at the end of the week!â fresa frowned as she pulled out a textbook, mumbling something to herself in spanish as she hunted for something else and sol groaned loudly, dramatically back flopping onto her bed. ânooo!â
âyou should be studying too! your history paper, did you finish it?â the spaniard asked, standing up with an armful of school supplies and staring her girlfriend down who shook her head. âdid you start it?â fresa asked, giving the taller girl a hardened look who scoffed. âyes! donât give me that look putellas.â
âwell then donât lie to me engen. oh did you buy more lego?â fresa realised as she tried to clear some space on her girlfriends desk, noting a few new additions to the norweigans very large and very proud collection as the girl sprung to her feet eager to show them off. âyes! look i got the jaws set, and another succulent and then mapi finally found the add ons for my-â she fell silent seeing the amused smirk on the younger girls face.
âdonât laugh!â sol scowled, crossing her arms and glaring down at the shorter girl who placed her books down on the desk. âi am not laughing mi amor, it is muy adorable how much you love your little legos.â fresa grinned, hugging her and staring up at the stone faced norwegian, stretching up to peck her lips a few times.
âsolstrĂ„le!â fresa yelped as once again she was picked up off her feet. âi told you to stop manhandling me!â the girl warned, her accent when she spoke english making her girlfriend grin as once more fresa was dropped on the bed, scout jumping off and making himself comfortable in his own bed in the corner.
âno no bebĂ© i told you i need to-â but fresa sighed as her girlfriend again collapsed on top of her causing her to grunt. âyou need to cuddle me.â the girl demanded tiredly, fresa wanting to argue but unable to stop the smile curling into her features at the sudden softer shift in sol when she was needy.
âyou are such a big baby.â fresa teased, the two of them moving around for a second until both were comfortable, sol grabbing her girlfriends hand and moving it to tangle in her hair, fresa already knowing exactly what she wanted as the taller girl turned on the tv.
âcan i pick? you will be asleep in ten minutes.â fresa chuckled knowingly, sol grumbling something in norwegian and refusing to give the remote up making her girlfriend roll her eyes, fingers messing about with her hair.
âanother nature documentary?â âtheyâre interesting!â âsĂ, for old people.â âfresa!â
âbien. watch your stupid tree show!â fresa gave in with a sigh, admittedly far too comfortable using her girlfriend as a makeshift weighted blanket to be bothered to argue. âwell i did go through a horrible experience today, this mean nurse stabbed me and made me pass out!â sol sighed, laughing as her girlfriend scoffed in offence and tried to push her off to no success at all.
âoh lo siento, poor bebĂ©.â fresa pouted sarcastically and rolled her eyes, her feisty attitude part of what had solstrĂ„le so attracted to her in the first place. âmmm i think i need spanish kisses to make it better.â the girl grinned wolfishly, tapping her lips as fresa sighed deeply as if it was a chore, sol pinching her softly and shuffling up the bed a little.
âlucky you are cute sometimes engen.â âonly sometimes?â âsi, you are also very annoying amor.â âso charming putellas.â
âi love you.â sols features softened as she pushed herself up to hover over the younger girl a little whose hands moved from her hair to cup her face, perfectly manicured fingers tracing her jaw. âi love you.â
âi love you more.â âi love you most.â âi love you more than the most.â âi love you-â
âay dios mio i have had to hear this all day! you two are disgusting give it a rest!â

Clumsy Woman
Pairing: RĂșben Dias x Reader
Summary: Your boyfriend doesn't like how clumsy you are, afraid you might seriously injure yourself.
Word count: 1976
Can't pretend to understand I'll be here to hold your hand I will wait for you, I will wait for you
You had been clumsy from a young age. Falling from trees, falling off bicycles, or simply tripping over your own feet seemed to be your speciality. It was during one of these graceful performances that you met your boyfriend, Ruben. You were barreling toward a magnificent face-plant when his strong arms caught you, saving you from certain embarrassment.
"I want to paint that wall!" You announced over breakfast one morning, your eyes sparkling with determination. "A deep blue, maybe."
Ruben raised an eyebrow, glancing between you and the wall. "That bookshelf has to go first." He pointed out. "It's heavy. We can do it together this weekend." He kissed your forehead and grabbed his keys. "I have to go!"
"Bye." Your attention was still on the wall and Ruben knew what you were thinking.
"Don't do it!" He called out as he reached for his bag. "Wait for me."
"But it's my day off!" You protested, already picturing the transformed wall. "I can at least start." Ruben gave you a look. "Fine." He gave you one final kiss on the lips and then left for training.
You didn't like to stay still at home. There was always a compulsion to be busy, so when boredom crept in, your eyes fell on the wall, then the bookshelf. Maybe it wasn't that difficult. With a burst of energy, you dashed out the door to buy the paint and everything you needed to paint the wall.
At home, you slip into old clothes and turn up the music. The bookshelf was packed with your books and Ruben's trophies. He'd be furious if he saw you right now, but you would prove you could handle it alone.
The bookshelf, a dark wood monster that dominated the room, had been a custom order. You started by emptying it, a task that required more muscle than expected. Then came the acrobatics. With much effort, you managed to slide a rug under one end. But as you attempted to repeat the same on the other side, disaster hit. Your hands slipped and the bookshelf came crashing down on your bare foot. A scream ripped through you as pain exploded.
"Don't do it!" Ruben's words echoed in your head. He was so going to kill you.
With a grunt of effort, you lifted the bookshelf off your foot. Pain shot through you as you collapsed to the floor, cradling your injured limb. It looked horrific, swollen and red. Trying to stand was a mistake, as a fresh wave of agony crippled you. You couldn't walk.
"Oh God, oh God!" Panic set in. Your phone was fumbled out of your pocket. You needed help, and you needed it now. Ruben wouldn't be home for hours. Calling an ambulance was the only option.
Ruben stepped into the locker room, and he heard the insistent vibration of his phone. "That thing hasn't stopped ringing." Bernardo commented, a grin spreading across his face.
Ruben's brow furrowed as he glanced at the caller ID. It was Lily, your best friend. "Hey, Lily, everything okay?"
"Hi Ruben, sorry to bother you, but I was supposed to meet Y/N at your place, and sheâs not there and a neighbour mentioned seeing an ambulance at your building." His blood ran cold. "Do you know what happened?"
"I can't believe her!" His voice rose in frustration. "She wanted to paint the wall, the one with the bookshelf. I told her not to touch it!" A wave of dread washed over him.
"She probably didn't listen. Oh God." Lily knew you better than anyone. Your stubborn independence was legendary. "I've tried calling her, but no answer."
"Let me take a shower really quick and then I'll call you back."
Bernardo and Walker exchanged concerned glances. "What's going on, man? Your girl in trouble again?" Walker asked, his tone laced with disbelief.
"Looks like it!" Ruben replied, his voice rough. "She can't stay out of trouble for five minutes. Fuck." He desperately searched for the contact of his friend Eric who worked at the hospital. He answered on the fourth ring.
"Hey, mate, what's up?"
"Eric, man, sorry to bother you, I know you're working, but I need a huge favour." Ruben rushed out, his voice was laced with urgency.
"Shoot!" Eric replied, his tone professional.
"Can you check if Y/N was admitted to the hospital? I think she might have had an accident. Again." He quickly explained the situation, his voice rising with each word. Eric promised to check and call back in a few minutes.
"I'm gonna be quick in the shower." Ruben said, turning to his friends. "If Eric calls, can you answer? Please." Walker and Bernardo nodded.
He'd never showered so fast in his life. Emerging a few minutes later, Bernardo was already on the phone.
"I'll tell him, thanks, Eric," Bernardo said, hanging up.
Ruben's heart pounded in his chest. "So?"
"She's there. Broken foot, but she's okay." Bernardo reported.
"For fuck's sake."
You rolled your eyes as Ruben burst into the hospital room. His face was a mask of irritation. Lily, who'd arrived earlier, squeezed your hand in silent support before stepping back.
"Seriously, Y/n?" Rubenâs voice was dripping with disbelief. "I told you to stay put."
"I'm fine, thanks for the concern." You replied, your tone dripping with sarcasm. You loved him and knew he was worried, but sometimes it felt suffocating.
"A broken foot means youâre not." He disagreed. "Canât you just stay still for one day?"
You didnât want to argue, especially as he seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. "Iâm a grown woman, Ruben. I donât need you to tell me to sit still."
"Well, you donât act like one. Sometimes I feel like Iâm dating a child." His response was harsh and unexpected.
Shock washed over you. Had he really just said that?
"Maybe you should break up with this child then. I wouldnât want to keep the great Ruben Dias from the real women in the city." You retorted, your voice trembling with anger.
He ran his hand through his hair, frustration etched on his face. He knew his words had been cruel, but his worry often manifested in this way. But breaking up with you was the last thing he wanted.
"You know thatâs not what I meant-- what are you doing?" He began, but you cut him off as you tried to stand, to reach for the crutches. He pushed you back down, but you quickly pushed his hand away.
"Lily, can you take me home, please?" You asked, ignoring Ruben completely.
Lily, who had been a silent observer, helped you up.
"I can take you home!" Ruben offered.
"I donât want you to take me home." You replied coldly. "You donât have a car seat for a child, remember?"
Using crutches was something familiar. This wasnât your first rodeo. You had broken other body parts before.
In the car, Lily broke the tense silence. "You know heâs just worried about you."
"I know, but that doesnât give him the right to treat me like a child. "He has known since the beginning how clumsy I am. If he canât handle it, maybe we shouldn't be together."
"Donât say that!" Lily replied, her voice firm. "You two can't live without the other." Through the rearview mirror, you saw Rubenâs car following you. "I know itâs hard, but try to understand his point of view."
You looked away, trying to focus on anything but the conversation. You knew Lily was right. Ruben loved you, and his overprotectiveness came from that love. But it was hard to accept when it felt like he was suffocating you.
As the car pulled up to your apartment building, you felt a pang of sadness hit you. Lily opened your door, and carefully you stepped out. "Thanks for everything, Lily. I really appreciate it."
She smiled. "Anytime, Babe! Call me if you need anything, okay?"
You nodded and the the help of the clutches you walked towards the building entrance. As you turned around, you saw Ruben's car waiting for the garage door of the building to open up. You hesitated, looking at his car for a long moment before turning and going inside.
When you entered the house, you realised that your books were scattered like confetti, Ruben's trophies were still on the dining table, and the monstrous bookshelf stood there, a mocking presence in the room. It was impossible to clean it up. Not with your foot like that.
A few minutes later, Ruben entered the house and he looked around it. You were nowhere to be seen, but by the sound of the water running, he knew you were taking a shower. Without his help.
What if you fell? He shocked the thought out of his head. You needed space and he was going to give it to you. Kind of.
Jumping from the shower with only one foot and the other in the air, you dried yourself and put on your pyjamas. You felt like everything was hurting, but you had to prove a point to Ruben. You could do things alone without needing his help.
As you opened the bedroom door, the smell of the food hit you and your belly made a noise, not realising how starving you were. However what surprised you the most was not Ruben cooking but the fact the bookshelf was no longer on the wall that you wanted to paint, but the wall in front of it, with all his trophies and your books. Everything was really clean and the small lamp you had on the corner where you sat reading was welcoming.
The table was set, and Ruben was busy tossing salad at the kitchen island. When he saw you emerge from the bedroom, he paused, his expression softening.
"How are you feeling?" His voice was gentle, laced with concern.
You met his gaze with a cold stare. "Fine."
You grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge, walking around the kitchen with surprising ease on your crutches. Ruben watched your movements with a mixture of relief and worry.
He sighed, setting down the salad bowl. "Can we talk?"
You scoffed. "Are you sure you want to do that? You think talking to a child is easy?" Your voice was sharp, but a pang of hurt shot through you as the words left your lips.
Ruben rinsed his hands and pulled out two chairs. Gently, he guided you to one and sat down across from you. His hands rested lightly on your bare legs. "I'm so sorry for calling you a child. I didn't mean it like that, and you know it."
You looked away, unable to meet his gaze. "It still hurt." You mumbled.
"I know, I know. I've been overprotective." He admitted. "But every time you get hurt, it feels like my heart stops. I worry about you constantly. But calling you a child was wrong, and I'm truly sorry."
Your anger was slowly dissipating. You couldn't stay mad at him for long. He always knew how to break through your walls. "You're an idiot if you think this is the last time I'll hurt myself." You retorted, trying to sound tough.
He chuckled softly. "Let me be an idiot, then. I love you, you know that, right?"
Ruben's eyes held yours. Slowly, he leaned forward, his hand reaching out to gently cup your face. Your heart pounded in your chest as his gaze lowered to your lips.
With a hesitant touch, his lips met yours. It was a soft and passionate kiss. As the kiss deepened, you felt a surge of relief and happiness wash over you. In that moment, nothing else mattered.
A small smile crept onto your face. "I know. I love you too."

Trey, Cater, Jamil, and Rook: *watching MC negotiate with Barbatos through the magic circle they have drawn*
MC: Come on, Barb! One vacation wouldn't hurt anyone!
Barbatos: MC, you are asking for the prince of Devildom to be with you in another world where you have been trapped.
MC: Not anymore? I could travel back and forth from here and there.
Barbatos: Could you travel back to the human world though?
MC: ...
MC: I can't. I don't know why, but I can't set foot back into the human world.
Barbatos: See? That's why I can't take the risk of sending the young master.
MC: ...
MC: He would have a lot of workload to stay behind if he goes on a vacation, doesn't he?
Barbatos: Yes. If I'm being honest, it has been doubled since the day you disappeared.
MC: I'll do the half.
Barbatos: What?
MC: I'll do the half.
Barbatos: Tempting, but still no.
MC: I'm losing patience here, Barb. I'll do the half- Or heck I'll do all of them and get Dia and kidnap you and force you to take a motherfucking vacation.
Barbatos: ...
Diavolo: Let's divide it equally among us three. *talking about him, Lucifer, and MC*
MC: Okay. But I'm still kidnapping that butler.
Barbatos: ...
Barbatos: *chuckles* Oh dear. Alright. You've won.
Diavolo: *happy Dia noises* I'll see you later, my beloved!
Barbatos: Yes. See you too, MC.
*The connection ended.*
Cater: ...
Cater: Okay. That was hot.
Jamil: The Prefect?
Cater: Yes. A partner who's willing to take over your workload just so you can get a vacation? The hottest thing, really.
Trey: *chuckles*
Rook: It's fascinating to witness such a lovely poly-relationship!
Trey: I see you taking notes, Rook.
Rook: *chuckles*
Ace, Deuce, and Sebek: *seeing Diavolo and Barbatos*
Sebek: Hmph! Waka-sama is still the most handsome of them all!
Ace: ...
Ace: Damn tiddi-
Deuce: *whacks his head*
MC: ...
Diavolo: Are these your friends, my beloved?
MC: Yes. I would say the closest ones.
Barbatos: MC, I've brought all the documents that need to be signed and assessed.
MC: Alright. Good thing Lucifer built me an office to take care of that.
Diavolo: I'll help you.
MC: No. I'm taking care of this. You and Barbatos, use this moment to relax.
Ace: No wonder you got your husbands.
Deuce: I wish I could find someone like you.
Sebek: Human! Stay away from Waka-sama!
MC: ...
MC: Sebek, seriously?
Barbatos: Ah. It seems you have no lover in this world. *smiles*That's good. You didn't cheat.
MC: Is that why you made things difficult for me earlier?
Barbatos: You disappeared on our date.
MC: ...
MC: Fair enough.

Ruben Dias x Reader - Drunk
Ruben, on his way to pick up a drunk Y/N đ
Ruben picks reader up after a night out with her friends, and the two of them get into a slight argument.
Enjoy!
"I'm drunk."
"Yeah, I figured."
You didn't have to wait long outside of the club before Ruben's car pulled up. He was there to pick you up just minutes after you hung up the phone.
"Did you circle around the block?"
"Maybe...."
"Ruben."
"What?" He pushed the car to a start and drove away. "I know you would need me as soon as your friends got picked up by their boyfriends. Let's just call it me being one step ahead."
"Yes, but their boyfriends don't drive a prosche with tinted widows and a license plate that says "TREBLE" on it."
Ruben grinned behind the wheel. The one grip he had around the steering wheel, shifting it slowly from side to side, did something to your insides.
"What?"
He caught you staring.
"Nothing."
"No, tell me. Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Well, if you most know...." You paused to hick up. "Fuck."
Ruben laughed.
"It's not funny."
Another hick up. Ruben's laughter increasing.
"Stop it, Ruben, it's not funny."
"It really is. How much did you have to drink tonight?"
"A lot, so slow down the car if you don't want me to ruin it."
Ruben did so with ease. Pressing down on the breaks with his foot, smoothly slowing down the vehicle. "Like that?"
"Much better." Your head fell back against the headrest. A sigh.
"How's Tina?"
"Ugh." You groand at the mentioning of the reason for your troubles.
"What?" Ruben's eyes left the road.
"She's the one that got me this drunk, you know."
"On purpose?" A dent appeared between his brows.
"It's not like you think."
"No? Because it sounds pretty bad."
"Yes, but she knows guys don't hit on me anymore, so she wanted to have a singles girls only moments with me while the other girlsâ"
"But you're not single." Ruben's eyes had returned to the road. However, the look on his face was still intense.
"No, I'm not single, Ruben." You placed a calming hand on his lap. "But like I said, guys don't hit on me anymore, so Tina saw it as an opportunity for the two of us to enjoy ourselves. Which we did."
"Why don't guys hit on you anymore?"
You sighed at the fact that that seemed to be the only thing that Ruben got out of what you just said.
"Y/N?"
"Huh?" Your thoughts had drifted. Clearly, to Ruben's annoyance.
"Why don't guys hit on you anymore?"
"Well, duh. I have a boyfriend, don't I?" This was half the truth. The truth was that you used to be a bit of a party girl in your younger days. Younger, meaning before you started seeing Ruben. Your favorite go-to place used to be the club you were just at tonight. The Varsity. You and your friends used to go there all the time at university, so much so that you started getting your own reputation amongst your fellow club goers. But that reputation remained only at The Varsity. However, your friends would bring their friends, which included guys looking to party. And soon you had admires from all over Manchester city, coming to find you where you spent most of your nights, on the Varsity dance floor. Luckily, your reputation died out once people found out that you were dating Ruben Dias. Too many people started making preassumtions about you without having met you, which made it harder for you to make friends these days.
"Why do I feel like you're not telling me all there is." Said Ruben, his eyes still pierced on the road.
"Please baby, don't be mad."
"I'm not mad." He said. However, the rest of the ride was spent in silence.
Once you arrived outside of Ruben's flat, he made sure to round the car and hold the door open for you. You had taken your heels off in the car, and so to protect you from stumbling upon something sharp, Ruben had picked you up and carried you inside bridal-style.
"Baby." You blushed. "You can put me down in the elevator, I'm not that drunk."
"Fine." He slid your legs back onto the ground. And for some reason, the way he had done it, with such stiff mannerism, felt just like a punch in the gut.
"Are you hungry? Do you want me to cook you something to eat?"
"No, thank you. I think I'm just gonna hop in the shower and go to bed." You mumbled as the two of you stepped into Ruben's tidy apartment. It was dimly lit at this hour, the city lights twinkling outside of the windows.
"Alright, I'll be right there with you. I just have to prep my meals for tomorrow."
"Okay." You made your way down the hall towards the main bathroom. However, just upon entry, you changed your mind and slid into Ruben's bedroom since the shower inside his joint bathroom had the best water pressure. You decide to wash your hair while you are at it, taking the time to wash away your sins.
It felt like you had done something wrong enjoying a night out with your friends. You understood Ruben's frustration with you being careless with your alcohol consumption, but never did you think he would judge you for that.
"I brought some Gatorade."
"God, Ruben, you scared me."
"Sorry." He chuckled.
You had stumbled out of his bathroom with a towel wrapped around yourself. Ruben was sitting on the edge of his bed, near the nightstand that held a bottle of strawberry Gatorade, along with two white pills.
"For your headache....tomorrow." He said.
"Right...."
You made your way over to his closet, grabbing one of his t-shirts to wear for bed. Your mind was less foggy after your shower, realizing that Ruben bringing you Gatorade was probably his way of wanting to ease the tension between you.
"Thank you." You turned around quite swiftly, in a way that left Ruben raising his brows. "For the Gatorad, I mean. And the pills...for my future headache."
His smile warmed your heart. "If you drink your Gatorade, I bet it won't hit as hard."
"Yes, sir." You saluted and to Ruben's amusement made your way over to the nightstand, grabbing the bottle of Gatorade, however struggling with its lid.
"A little help, please." You handed the bottle over to Ruben, who efortlessly spun open the lid.
"My hero." You said before grabbing the bottle, tilting half of its content into your mouth. It wasn't the classiest thing to burp once you finished, but mind you that you were still a bit tipsy.
"Time for bed?"
Ruben nodded. "After you."
He let you crawl into his bed and under the covers. There, you sat back and watched your boyfriend undress. Ruben draped his shirt over his head, revealing a firm set of washboard abs.
"A strip tease. Just for moi?"
Ruben chuckled, his jaw sharp under the dimly lit room. He turned the lights on completely after dropping his pants, folding the neatly in his closet before joining you in bed.
You clung to him immediately, invading his side of the bed like a real cover hog. You kissed his face, his nose, and then his lips. Ruben's stubble tickled your finger tips, however, you groaned at the fact that he wasn't returning the love back to you.
"Not tonight baby. You need to rest."
Please, I'm not even that drunk." You said, "Besides...." Your hand slipped in between the sheets, revealing Ruben's secret. "I know how much you want me right now."
Ruben grunted with your touch, your hand squeezing his groin, challenging his self control.
"I'd let go if I were you."
Or what?" You said, nipping his lip with your teeth.
"I'm warning you Y/N."
"Yes, warn me before you punish me."
Ruben cock strained against the fabric of his underwear, growing stiff in the palm of your hand.
"Please, Ruben I need you inside of me."
"Oh, yeah?"
"Yes." You sighed, your voice high pitched.
"How about I used my hands instead."
"Yes, your hands, your dick. Anything Ruben, just fuck me already."
His large hands joined yours under the covers, slipping under his t-shirt that you wore, resting at each side of your hips. "Are you ready for me, baby?"
"Yes, Ruben I'mâ" You screamed. Ruben's hands squeezing your hips, shocked your very core, knowing damn well that that was your worst tickling spot.
"Stop it Ruben, I...can't...breath." You squirmed below him, his laughter dimming your cries for help.
"Ruben!"
There was a tousle of the bed. Not one you originally wish for, but one that left you equally as exhilarated and exhausted. In the end you and Ruben lay on your backs, panting and laughing. Perhaps the way every night out should end from now on.

"I miss Mc" Mammon mumbled to himself.
The brothers had been invited to a party, however Mc was at home, something about wanting to finish homework or maybe a book.
Mammon had been sitting next to Levi playing with a glass of water in his hands.
Levi, who had been playing some RPG on one of his many hand held consoles hummed in agreement, but wasn't really paying attention to anything else. Most of his other brothers were drinking, a long with Diaviolo and the purgatory hall boys.
Thirteen was harassing Solomon and Meph was getting into an argument with a tipsy Lucifer who was drunkenly leaning into the prince's shoulder, with Dia's arm wrapped around the avatar of Pride's waist.
Mammon sighed to himself again as he got up from his seat took one last sip of his drink and headed for the door.
The walk back to the HOL was a calm and quiet one, there wasn't much foot traffic due to it being so late in the night. Mammon wondered if Mc would even be awake at this hour.
Unlocking the door Mammon wordlessly entered the entry way to his home. The grand staircase greeting him as he shut and locked the front door behind him.
The avatar of Greed made his down the halls, passing the kitchen and onto the next room. His favorite room in the mansion. Mc's room. Mammon quietly opened the door to his human's room. And there they sat sitting in their large bed scrolling on their phone. Their eyes moved from the illuminating light of their phone screen and onto the bright light of the hallway, and their first man, Mammon.
"back so soon? I figured you boys wouldn't be home till tomorrow morning." Mc chuckled to themselves. Mammon smiled as he began to undress out of his formal wear and down to his boxers and socks.
"it's just me right now." Mammon spoke softly to the human as they made room for him under the covers.
"so you missed me?" Mc smiled sweetly, Mammon could feel tiredness begin to creep up on him, and there wasn't anything he could maintain his tsundere facade.
"mhm hmm." He hummed in response as he pulled Mc close to him. The two tangled their legs together enveloped in the warmth of their bodies.
Mc was happy Mammon had come home early.
They had missed him.

Cruel Fates (Part 4- Final)
Pairing: Azriel x f!Reader, little Eris x f!Reader
Summary: Azriel is your mate but only you know it. You are very aware that he has eyes for someone else and thus you decide not to hide it forever. After all, what could go wrong right?
Warnings: Angst (Not the usual kind), heartbreak, bad decision-making by the reader (personally, at least.)
5.3K words
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Youâre not nervous, not even the tiniest. It was not like there was any room to be so because today was the Midnight Solistice ball. It has been a fortnight since you wrote that letter to Eris, he had sent one back confirming his attendance. When you told the rest of the inner court of your decision things had gone⊠well it went as you expected. Rhys supported your decision while Feyre was disappointed. Amren gave you a look that seemed to say âIs that so?â to which you just gave a firm nod. Cassian had been less vocal, but the silent disapproval in his stance spoke volumes and when you looked for Mor, she merely raised an eyebrow, an unreadable expression on his face. As for Azriel, he was sent out on a mission a few days back so thankfully you escaped from the awkwardness that seemed to linger wherever your path crossed.
But today, none of that mattered. Tonight, the ball was about more than just diplomacy or expectations; it was a chance to make your mark, to reclaim a piece of yourself that had been lost in the shuffle of responsibilities and politics. The Midnight Solstice ball, with its glimmering chandeliers and whispering silk curtains, was the perfect backdrop for what you hoped would be a turning point.
You glanced at your reflection in the mirror. The gown, a deep, rich blood red with intricate gold embroidery that mimicked the flickering embers of a fire, hugged your figure perfectly. A gold and ruby tiara sat atop your head, the gemstones catching the light and casting a warm glow over your skin. Your hair, elegantly pinned back, let the tiara shine like a crown of flames. You were a vision of grace and strength, the embodiment of confidence you needed to exude tonight.
Just as you reached the ballroom in Hewn City, the clock struck the hour of midnight, the anticipation crackled in the air. The first notes of the orchestra began to play, a soft and enchanting melody that set the mood for the evening. You took a deep breath, steadying yourself for what was to come. Eris would be arriving soon, and with him, a new chapter of intrigue and possibility.
You joined the rest of the court at the dias standing beside Cassian. As much as you hated it your eyes searched for Azriel as soon as you set foot in here but he was nowhere to be found.
Rhys must have noticed you searching because his voice softly whispered in your her, âHe'll arrive a little late.â
Stars, you hated waiting. It had been only a few minutes before the giant doors opened to reveal the Autumn Prince prowling towards you like a predator but it felt like an eternity had passed.
In the periphery of your eyes, you noticed the movement of smokey Shadows to know Azriel was behind you.
Eris approached with that ever-present smirk, his amber eyes gleaming with mischief as he bowed slightly, offering his hand. âI must admit, you wear the autumn colours well, Y/N, you look glorious. Carefulâif you keep looking this tempting, I might forget we're here to talk business.â
He straightened, his gaze flickering over the ruby tiara, lingering as though assessing not just her appearance, but her entire being. âThough Iâm beginning to think this alliance will be far more enjoyable than I first anticipated.â
You couldnât help but smile at that, âHello to you too, Prince.â
The smile Eris gave you in reply could only be described as⊠sweet. Odd, but lovely. He began to greet the rest of the court but that was more tense than a tightrope. No surprise there.
The music played softly in the background, and your eyes drifted to the ballroom, watching the swirl of colours and movement before you. The anticipation had been building all evening, and though you had expected it, the flutter of nerves in your chest hadnât entirely subsided.
Then, your vision shifted back to Eris. His amber eyes gleamed as his focus locked on you, but something about his expression was softer than you had anticipated. He extended his hands towards you, his gaze unwavering.
ïżœïżœDance with me,â Eris said, his voice quieter than usual. There was no teasing, no smirkâjust a simple request.
For a brief moment, you hesitated. It wasnât because you didnât want toâthere was a pull between you, undeniable and magneticâbut because stepping onto that dance floor felt like crossing a threshold you werenât sure you were ready for. You were here for diplomacy, for alliances, and yet, the weight of what this dance might mean had your heart beating faster than you liked to admit. You also took note of the heavy silence around you, the inner court was observing every single interaction, and you would indeed give anything to get away from this awkwardness too.
So despite the million reasons not to, you took his hand anyway. His fingers were warm against your skin, steady and sure, and as he led you onto the floor, you reminded yourself to breathe. The room around you seemed to quiet, the conversations and glances fading into the background, though you were keenly aware of the eyes that followed your every move.
The music shifted to something slower, more intimate. Erisâs hand settled at your waist, his other holding yours gently, and though his grip was firm, there was a subtle hesitation in how he held you, as though giving you the chance to step back if you wanted. But you didnât.
âI wasnât sure youâd even consider agreeing to this,â Eris said, his voice just above a whisper as he guided you into the first steps of the dance.
You glanced up at him, your eyes meeting his, searching for any sign of the usual arrogance. But there was none. Instead, there was something almost uncertain, like he, too, was navigating unfamiliar ground. The urge to use your powers to make sure you were right about your assumptions was tempting but tonight you refused to use them. Whatever relationship you are about to form with Eris heavily depends on trust and your powers would only be an invasion of that.
âNeither was I,â you admitted, your tone softer than you intended. Your steps were fluid, your bodies moving in sync, but you couldnât shake the quiet wariness that lingered at the edges of your mind. This felt too personal, too close for something that was supposed to be about strategy. A part of you inside, you realised, did not mind it. There is no harm in genuinely enjoying each otherâs company, right? âBut weâre here.â
He gave a slight nod, his gaze not leaving yours. âWe are.â
For a few moments, the only sound was the music and the soft rustle of your movements. The way Eris moved with you, not leading too aggressively but not holding back either, felt like a delicate balanceâone that required trust. And that trust was what made you hesitate, even as you followed his lead.
âYouâre different than I expected,â you said quietly, your voice barely carrying over the music.
Eris raised an eyebrow, amusement filled his gaze, but the small smile on his lips didnât hold its usual edge. âDifferent, how?â
You bit your lip, searching for the right words. âLess⊠calculated,â you said after a moment. âMore⊠real.â
He chuckled softly, though it wasnât mocking. âIs that a compliment or an insult?â
âIâm not sure yet,â you replied, the hint of a smile tugging at your lips despite the uncertainty in your heart. âBut itâs unexpected.â
Erisâs expression shifted, something thoughtful passing over his features. âI suppose Iâm full of surprises, then.â
The dance carried on, each step a little more sure than the last, the tension between you slowly dissolving into something elseâsomething neither of you had anticipated. But even as the chemistry between you became palpable, there was still a part of you that remained guarded, your thoughts caught between what you were feeling and what this meant for everything else.
âYouâre still hesitating,â Eris said after a beat, his voice low, though there was no judgment in his tone. âI can feel it.â
Your breath caught for a second, surprised by how easily he read you. But then, this was Erisâsharp, perceptive, always watching. âIâm not sure what to make of this,â you admitted softly. âOf us.â
His grip on your waist tightened slightly, just enough to ground you. âNeither am I,â he said quietly. âBut maybe thatâs part of it.â
The honesty in his voice startled you, and for a moment, you faltered in your steps. He caught you without hesitation, his hand steadying you as he pulled you back into the rhythm of the dance. His scent filled you as you got close to him again, crackling fire, smoky with a surprising touch of sweetness and a cosy blend of spices. It was intoxicating. His eyes searched yours, as though he was trying to figure out what you were thinking, trying to piece together the puzzle that was you.
âYou donât need to give me an answer tonight, you know?â Eris said softly, his thumb brushing against the back of your hand in a barely-there gesture. âSometimes itâs okay not to know.â
The simplicity of his words made something in your chest loosen, even if just a little. You werenât sure how much you trusted him yet, or what this dance would mean for the future, but in this moment, the weight of your decisions seemed to lighten.
âIâll keep that in mind,â you murmured, your voice quieter than before.
The music slowed, signalling the end of the dance, and as you pulled away, you noticed the lingering warmth of his hand in yours. You didnât say anything else, and neither did he. There was no need for more words, not yet. But in the stillness that followed, with Eris watching you, not as a prince or a suitor, but as someone trying to understand you, you realized something important:
You werenât entirely sure what was happening between you, but whatever it was, it wasnât a game. Not anymore.
Azrielâs POV
Azriel watched from the shadows, his chest tightening with each passing second as you and Eris glided across the dance floor. The elegant way your bodies moved together was undeniable, but it was the way you smiled, that soft, hesitant smile, that made something in him twist uncomfortably. He couldnât explain the feeling gnawing at him, but he knew one thing: this wasnât just about diplomacy.
It was more than that.
He had been watching you for weeks now, ever since youâd first spoken to him at a meeting that seemed so insignificant at the time. But now, in this dimly lit ballroom, he could recall every detail of those moments, ever since you both first met, like a collection of memories he hadnât even realized heâd stored away. Once he was aware of its existence he couldnât stop noticing every little thing about you.
It started small. At first, he noticed how you carried yourselfâcalm and composed, yet always with a hint of mischief in your eyes. He remembered how youâd touch your lips absentmindedly when you were lost in thought or how youâd tuck a stray hair behind your ear without thinking twice about it. Heâd caught himself staring more than once, admiring the little things about youâthe delicate way you handled a blade, the way you always seemed to know when someone needed a kind word or a sharp one. And, by the mother, the times you wielded your powers had to be his favourite, the most lethal poisons indeed did come in the prettiest forms.
But then there were other momentsâdeeper, quieter ones. Like when you stood beside him, your shoulder brushing his for the briefest second, and heâd felt something stir within him, something he couldnât name. Or the way youâd throw him a fleeting glance during those Inner Court meetings, where your eyes would catch his for just a second longer than necessary, and heâd be left wondering what lay beneath that look.
He never thought much of it at the time. It was all so subtle, so easy to ignore until it wasnât.
He remembered one particular evening, only a week ago, when you had laughed at something Feyre had said during dinner. That laughâit was rare to hear you laugh like that, full and genuineâand it had struck him in a way that made his chest feel uncomfortably tight. Heâd found himself watching you for the rest of the evening, his attention constantly drifting toward you, but he brushed it off as nothing more than curiosity.
But now, watching you dance with Eris, all those subtle moments came crashing down on him. The way heâd been noticing the smallest things about you, how heâd been admiring them without truly registering why. How his thoughts would drift to you even when you werenât in the room, and how lately, he found himself lingering near you whenever he could as if drawn by something he couldnât quite grasp.
It wasnât until nowâuntil he saw you in someone elseâs armsâthat the realization hit him with the force of a tidal wave.
He was falling for you. Maybe he had been for a while. He didnât even know when it started, but it had crept up on him, subtle and silent like his shadows.
And now, seeing you with Eris, something primal inside him screamed at the thought of losing you, of letting someone else see those small, beautiful things about you that he had come to cherish in secret.
Azrielâs hands clenched into fists at his sides, the tension rolling through his body like a storm. He couldnât let this happen. Not without speaking to you. Not without making you rethink whatever it was you were about to do.
Y/Nâs POV
As the music quieted, Eris kept your hand in his, guiding you away from the centre of the ballroom. There was a quiet elegance to your movements, a shared understanding that you both needed space from the watching eyes, if only for a moment. Together, you wandered aimlessly, threading your way through clusters of guests without a destination in mind. It wasnât uncomfortableâmore like the kind of aimlessness that made sense, where words werenât always necessary.
Eris tilted his head toward you, a playful gleam lighting his amber eyes. âI have to admit,â he began, his voice low but teasing, âthis might be the first ball where Iâm not the sole subject of the whispers.â
You glanced up at him with a smirk, your lips curving just enough to show your amusement. âOh, donât pretend you donât live for the scandal. You practically swim in it.â
He chuckled softly. âIâd never deny it. But tonightâs gossip is far juicier than Iâd anticipated.â
That flicker of curiosity sparked to life inside you. âGo on, then. Donât hold out on me.â
Eris leaned in just a bit closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial murmur. âWord around the ballroom is that Lady Soralynâs sudden disappearance from her estate last week wasnât for the usual reasons.â
You raised a brow, intrigued. âUsual reasons? You mean like her terrible taste in lovers?â
His grin was wicked. âOh, itâs much worse this time. Sheâs apparently been caught in a rather⊠delicate situation with Tarquinâs advisors, yes, advisors, in pluralâ
Your eyes widened as you barely held back a laugh. âNo. She wouldnât.â
âOh, she would,â he replied, his gaze gleaming with mischief. âBut thatâs not even the best part. The advisors? Married. Their wives showed up mid-rendezvous.â
You couldnât help itâyou laughed softly, your hand coming up to cover your mouth. âHow do you always manage to be privy to the worst scandals?â
Eris shrugged, that self-satisfied smirk dancing on his lips. âWhat can I say? People like to talk when they think no oneâs listening. I simply⊠listen better than most.â
âOr people just assume youâre too arrogant to care,â you teased back, your tone light.
âAh, but thatâs the trick. Let them think what they want.â He paused, his grin taking on a wicked edge. âBesides, itâs always the ones who look disinterested who end up knowing everything.â
You shook your head, still chuckling at the absurdity of it all. âYou must have enough blackmail material on half of Prythian by now.â
âMore than half, if weâre being honest,â he replied smoothly, his playful tone fading into something more thoughtful.Â
For a while, you walked in comfortable silence, the sounds of the ballroom fading into the background. It was nice, the quiet between you, thick with shared understanding but without the need to fill the space with words.Â
âI have to admit, Y/N,â he began, breaking the silence, glancing at her with that ever-present smirk, âthere are some rather interesting rumours swirling around about you.â
You tilted your head, intrigued but wary. âOh? Iâm sure theyâre all incredibly dignified and respectful.â
Eris let out a short laugh, shaking his head. âOh, very. One of the rumours is that youâre the one to fear more than anyone in your court. They speak of how you can practically stop a personâs heart with a look, maybe even⊠slow their pulse to a crawl.â
You scoffed lightly, but there was a trace of amusement in your voice. âI canât help it if people are easily intimidated.â
He raised an eyebrow. âEasily? Y/N, Iâve seen battle-hardened generals flinch when you enter a room.â
âWell,â you shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant, though the flicker of a smile betrayed you, âalright, I have nothing to say to that.â
âExactly.â Eris teased, but then his expression softened into something more genuine. âThough, truth be told, itâs what made me curious about you in the first place.â
You glanced up at him, taken aback. âCurious?â
Eris nodded, his amber eyes lingering on hers. âWhile others were whispering in fear, I wondered if there wasnât more to the story. Something they were too blind or too intimidated to see.â His voice lowered, holding a trace of warmth that caught her off guard. âTurns out, I was right.â
You simply blinked, momentarily lost for words, the vulnerability in his tone throwing her slightly off balance. But Eris, never one to let a moment linger too long, cleared his throat and switched to a lighter tone.
Of course, thereâs one piece of gossip about you thatâs been making the rounds latelyâsomething very scandalous.â
You shot him a wary look, already preparing for whatever teasing remark he was about to throw her way. âOh? And here I thought Iâd been behaving.â
Eris chuckled, low and dangerous. âApparently, at a certain high-society dinner a few months back, there was a rather loudâand, shall we say, descriptiveâcomment made about you.â
A frown formed on your face, curiosity piqued despite the sinking feeling in your stomach. âDescriptive? Of what, exactly?â
Eris leaned in, his voice dropping into a mock whisper as he delivered the punchline. âSome lord from the Dawn Courtâinebriated beyond saving, of courseâremarked that he had it on good authority that you could literally make a man drop dead between the sheets. And not literally, if you catch my drift.â
Your mouth dropped open, blood rushing to your face, flushing with embarrassment. âYouâre joking.â
âDead serious.â Eris grinned wickedly, savouring the look of horror that spread across your face. âHe claimed you had some very specific talents when it came to manipulatingâŠcertain bodily functions.â
You groaned, running a hand over your face as if to hide from the mortifying thought. âStars, please tell me youâre making this up.â
âWish I was.â Eris smirked, clearly enjoying her discomfort. âThe entire room fell silent. A few looked horrified, but others wereâletâs sayâintrigued. I distinctly remember someone asking if there were any volunteers for you to demonstrate your âgiftsâ after dinner.â
You swatted his arm in exasperation, mortified. âYouâre disgusting, Eris.â
He laughed, completely unbothered. âIâm disgusting? You shouldâve seen the way half the room was staring at you afterwards. They were probably wondering if theyâd survive the night in your bed or if theyâd drop dead with a smile on their face.â
Y/N shot him a glare, though she couldnât stop the embarrassed laugh that slipped out. âI canât believe people talk about me like that. How vulgar. Though that is a nice idea, never tried that before.â
Erisâs eyes darkened at that comment, not giving him a chance to reply to that you sighed, shaking your head in disbelief. âWell, Iâm thrilled to know Iâm the subject of such flattering gossip.â
Eris caught on and just smirked, a spark of admiration shining beneath his teasing gaze. âYou might hate it, but itâs true. They donât know what to make of you, Y/N. Theyâre either terrified of you orââ
ââor want to sleep with me, apparently,â she cut in, her tone dry.
Eris chuckled again, but this time there was a note of sincerity in his voice. âSome of us fall into neither category, you know? Not that Iâll object to the latter but only if you are up to it .â
Your teasing expression softened slightly as you glanced up at him, sensing something deeper beneath the banter. But before you could respond, a familiar shadowy presence loomed behind.
Azriel.
He stepped forward, his gaze sharp and focused, cutting through the playful atmosphere like a knife. âY/N,â he said quietly, his voice steady but tense. âWe need to talk.â
His expression was calm, but his hazel eyes were burning with something elseâsomething you hadnât seen before. The sight of him so close, after days of him being absent, sent your heart into overdrive.
You glanced at Eris, who raised an eyebrow but stepped back graciously. âIâll wait for you by the balcony,â he said smoothly, leaving you and Azriel alone in the crowd.
Azriel wasted no time, pulling you aside to a quieter corner of the room. His grip on your arm was firm, his shadows swirling anxiously around his feet.
âAzriel, whatâ?â
âWhy are you doing this?â His voice was low, almost a growl. âWhy are you letting him... How are you so sure that you donât have a mate? Did he die? Is that it?â
The shock hit you like a physical blow. You had never seen Azriel this... shaken. The calm, collected Spymaster seemed to be unravelling before you. âAzriel, what are you talking about?â
His eyes flicked over your face, searching for somethingâan answer, a sign, anything. âY/N, I know what Iâm saying sounds ridiculous. But you canât go through with this. I canât let you marry him.â
You blinked, taken aback. âYes, I do have a mate and he is very much alive, Azriel.â
The words hung in the air, heavy with meaning. Azrielâs expression shifted, confusion and something darker clouding his features. âThen why are you doing this? Why are you... with Eris?â
You couldnât help but raise your voice, âBecause mating bonds are complicated! Trust me, my mate isnât interested. The cauldron makes mistakes.âÂ
âY/n, rejecting a mating bond is so painful, itâs worse than death.â He says in a matter-of-fact tone.
You felt a flicker of something like hope stir inside you, but it was quickly drowned out by the weight of reality. âWhy does it matter to you, Azriel?â you asked softly. âWhy are you so bothered by this?â
His response was immediate, but it wasnât what you wanted to hear. âEris isnât good enough for you.â
A bitter laugh escaped your lips. Of course. Of course, it would be about Eris, not about him realising he was your mate. You stepped back, the disappointment settling like a stone in your chest.
âI need to go,â you said, your voice barely above a whisper. âEris is waiting for me.â
You found Eris on the balcony, staring out into the night. He turned when you approached, his smirk softening into something more genuine.
âWell?â he asked, his tone light but his eyes searching yours.
âIâve been thinking,â you began, leaning against the railing. âPrythian needs this. And maybe... maybe I do, too.â
Erisâs brow lifted, but the teasing was gone from his expression. âYouâre really considering it, then?â
You nodded, exhaling softly. âWe both know this alliance is necessary. And... who knows? Maybe weâll be good for each other.â
Eris studied you for a long moment before stepping closer, his hand resting over yours on the railing. âI never thought Iâd hear you say that. But... Iâm glad.â
You exchanged a look, one filled with an understanding that ran deeper than words. It wasnât love, but it was something. And maybe that was enough.
âI accept your proposal,â you said softly.
The ceremony was held later that evening, under the cover of moonlight at a temple just beyond the court. Everything was readyâthe vows, the magic that would bind you and Eris together in an alliance sealed by more than just words.
But as the moment to seal the bond drew closer, you felt it. AÂ pull deep within your chest.
Azriel stormed into the temple, his wings outstretched, his shadows wild around him. His eyes locked onto you, fury and desperation swirling within them.
âYou said your mate wasnât interested,â he ground out, his voice like shattered glass. âWell, I am fucking interested.â
Time seemed to stop.
Azrielâs voice rose, a tremor in his tone. âI wish the bond had snapped earlier, before all this. But Iâll be damned if I watch you marry another male when Iâm standing right here.â
The world seemed to tilt beneath your feet as Azrielâs words hung in the air. You stared at him, unable to breathe, unable to move. His wings, the embodiment of his fury, flared behind him as his gaze bore into you, wild and unrelenting. He was waiting for you to say something, to react, but your mind was spinning.
You heard Eris shift beside you, but your eyes were still locked on Azrielâs. This wasnât happening. It couldnât be. After all this time, after all the signals you thought you had misread, he was standing here, confessing... what? That he was your mate? That he had known?
âI... I donât understand,â you finally managed to choke out, your voice trembling.
Azriel took a step closer, his shadows curling anxiously around his feet. âThe bond, Y/N. It snapped. Just now. I didnât know... I didnât realize... but I canât let this happen. I canât let you marry him.â
Your heart was pounding in your chest, the weight of everything pressing down on you, making it hard to think. Your mate. Azriel was your mate. A part of you wanted to feel relief, to feel joy, but all you could feel was fear. Fear for Prythian, fear for the consequences this revelation would bring.
âYou said your mate wasnât interested,â Azriel repeated, his voice breaking slightly. âBut I am. Iâve always been. And now that I know... I canât lose you.â
You opened your mouth to speak, but no words came. Instead, your eyes flickered to Eris. He stood there, expression unreadable, though his amber eyes held a strange mix of emotions. There was no anger, no furyâjust a quiet understanding, and perhaps a trace of sadness.
âI have to do this,â you whispered, more to yourself than to Azriel.
âNo,â Azriel said, his voice hot, desperate. âNo, Y/N. Fuck Prythian, fuck this alliance. I donât care if the entire world burns downânone of it matters if it means losing you.â
The force of his words knocked the air out of your lungs, and before you could stop yourself, you were surging forward, crashing into him. His arms were around you in an instant, pulling you close, and his lips met yours in a kiss that was all fire and fury and desperation. It was as if the world had indeed stopped, and at that moment, all that mattered was the feeling of his mouth on yours, the taste of him, the bond snapping into place so forcefully that it left you both breathless.
When you finally broke apart, you stared up at him, your heart racing. This... this was real. The bond was real.
But as the haze of the kiss faded, reality came crashing back in. You could feel the weight of the courtâs eyes on you, feel Erisâs presence behind you. Slowly, you turned to face him.
Eris stood tall, his expression carefully neutral, but there was no mistaking the sadness in his gaze. He let out a soft breath, his lips quirking into a wry smile. âWell... Iâll be damned.â
You took a step toward him, guilt twisting in your chest. âEris, I am so sorryââ
He held up a hand, cutting you off gently. âDonât. You donât need to apologize. I knew something was off, even if I didnât want to admit it. I just... I had hoped, for once, that I could have something for myself.â
Your throat tightened as you watched him. He was still so composed, still so regal, but there was a depth of pain in his eyes that made your heartache.
âI saw a future with you,â Eris continued, his voice quiet. âA good one. Even now, I selfishly wish that Azriel would have realized his bond too late, but...â He shook his head, giving you a sad, lopsided smile. âBut I want you to be happy and clearly, you are.â
You took another step closer, your heart aching with the weight of what could have been. âIâm sorry, Eris. I never wanted this to happen... not like this.â
He nodded, the smile still lingering on his lips, though it was tinged with bitterness. âI know. But itâs not your fault. Mating bonds work in strange ways.â His eyes flicked to Azriel, who was watching the exchange with a guarded expression. âLeave it to the Illyrians to always steal my bride.ïżœïżœïżœ
The comment was meant to be lighthearted, but the pain laced in his tone was unmistakable. And then, with a final glance at you, Eris gave a small, respectful bow. âMaybe in another lifetime,â he murmured, before winnowing away, leaving you standing there with a strange emptiness in your chest.
The court had dispersed by the time you and Azriel returned to your apartment, the weight of the night settling over you both. The silence was thick between you, the bond still thrumming with energy, still raw and new.
Azriel was the first to break it, his voice soft but full of unspoken emotion. âWhy didnât you tell me?â
You met his gaze, your heart aching. âBecause I didnât think... I didnât think youâd want this. Youâve always been so close to Elain, and I didnât want to come between that.â
A flicker of something dark passed over his features. âElain and I... that was never real. It was just... a projection, a fantasy of something I thought I wanted. But you...â His voice softened, his fingers brushing against your cheek. âYou are whatâs real. And I was too blind to see it.â
Your breath hitched at the tenderness in his touch, the intensity in his eyes. âAzriel...â
âI love you,â he said, the words falling from his lips like a vow. âI love you, Y/N. I have for a long time, and Iâm not going to waste another second.â
You surged forward, capturing his lips in a kiss that was softer this time, but no less powerful. The bond flared between you, stronger now, more certain, and as you melted into each other, you knewâthis was where you were meant to be.
The rest of the night was spent in a blur of whispered confessions, stolen kisses, and the quiet realization that, despite everything, this was your future.
Azriel was your future.
And as the stars twinkled outside your window, you knew you wouldnât have it any other way.
A little note from me, kind of an acknowledgement too:
First and foremost, I am so sorry for taking this long to finish this. Apparently thinking of the story alone isn't enough. I can't believe I actually finished it, despite it being short (I don't think these characters could handle any more angst).
Thank you for all the love I've gotten for this fic, especially because this is the first fic I've made public. It means so much to me!!
And finally, my thoughts on Y/n and how the story ended.
This is a fanfic I've been thinking of ever since I read the ACOTAR series and it has been years since then. So yeah, I am a bit disappointed to see the reader making shitty, impulsive decisions, I am sorry if it gave you the ick.
I fell for Eris even more if that was even possible while writing this part. He deserves everything and more. My poor baby, I am so sorry for what I did to you. I wish I could make it better, I actually thought of making Y/n use her powers to lessen Eris's pain or at least make it a bit more tolerable but I felt it would be wrong to him.
I really hoped I could write an ending where Eris would not be hurt but I don't think this story could end in any other way. A tragedy, really. Eris and Y/n would have been the bestest of friends before anything. I'd like to believe it could still happen, platonically at least.
Anyway, I'll leave this to you now, again, thank you so much for reading!!

It was one of those rare nights during summer break when everything seemed perfect. The warm air, the thrum of the city nightlife and the excitement of being out with your best friend, Ruben, gave you an electric buzz before you even set foot inside the club. Ruben had just finished a long, grueling season with Manchester City and you could tell he was more than ready to let loose.
"Finally, a night where you arenât thinking about tackles and clean sheets!" you teased as the two of you walked into the upscale club, the music already pulsing around you. The moment you stepped inside, the energy was contagious. People were dancing, laughing, drinks in hand and the lights bounced off the walls in a dizzying array of colors.
Ruben grinned at you, his dark eyes twinkling mischievously. âHey, I can think about more than football, yâknow.â
âOh really?â you shot back, playfully nudging his arm. âBecause last time I checked, all you talked about were formations and âshutting down the opponentâs offense.â â
He laughed, shaking his head. âTonightâs different. No football. Just fun.â
You raised an eyebrow. âIs that a promise?â
âThatâs a guarantee.â he replied, grabbing your hand and leading you straight to the bar. âFirst roundâs on me. Letâs get this night started properly.â
The next few hours flew by in a haze of drinks, laughter and dancing. Ruben, despite his towering presence on the football pitch, was surprisingly light on his feet and the two of you quickly found your rhythm on the dance floor. He spun you around, his grin wide as you laughed, feeling carefree and completely in the moment. The alcohol loosened your inhibitions and soon enough, you were moving closer to him, your bodies brushing against each other as you danced to the beat of the music.
At one point, you leaned into him, your mouth close to his ear so he could hear you over the loud music. âYouâre not bad at this, Dias. Almost as good as you are at defending.â
He smirked, his hands resting casually on your waist as you danced. âI could say the same about you. But Iâll bet Iâm better.â
You narrowed your eyes playfully. âBetter at what? Dancing?â
âAnything.â he said, the challenge in his tone impossible to ignore. âYou name it.â
âOh really?â you said, your competitive side flaring up. Youâd known Ruben long enough to know he couldnât resist a good bet. âAlright, tough guy. Letâs make it interesting.â
âIâm listening.â he said, leaning in, his breath warm against your ear.
You grinned, already feeling the thrill of the challenge. âLetâs bet on something and the loser has to give the other a private striptease.â
Rubenâs eyes widened slightly in surprise but then he burst out laughing, the sound deep and rich. âYouâre joking, right?â
You shook your head, holding his gaze. âNope. Iâm dead serious.â
He looked at you, clearly intrigued. âOk.. but what are we betting on?â
You glanced around the club, trying to come up with something on the spot. Your eyes landed on the dance floor. âFirst one to get someoneâs phone number. And it canât be from someone we already know.â
Ruben raised an eyebrow, clearly confident. âAlright. Youâre on. But donât get mad when you lose.â
You smirked. âWeâll see about that.â
With the bet set, you both headed in opposite directions, scoping out the crowd. The alcohol had given you a good buzz and though you were feeling confident, you knew Ruben was charismatic and charming enough to make this bet interesting. Still, you werenât about to go down without a fight.
You moved through the crowd, chatting briefly with a few people but nothing that led to an immediate phone number. You kept glancing over your shoulder, trying to see how Ruben was doing but you couldnât spot him in the sea of people. Time was ticking and you were starting to feel the pressure.
Suddenly, you spotted a guy standing by the bar, looking relaxed and approachable. You struck up a conversation, keeping it light and casual and within minutes, he was handing you his phone to put your number in. Success!
Grinning, you thanked him and quickly made your way back to the dance floor, looking for Ruben. You found him standing near the edge of the floor, his arms crossed, a knowing smirk on his face.
âWell?â you asked, trying to keep the excitement out of your voice. âHowâd it go?â
He held up his phone, showing a new contact saved in his phone. âEasy as pie.â
You groaned dramatically, though part of you wasnât surprised. âUgh.. I was so close!â
He chuckled, stepping closer to you, his hands once again finding their place on your waist as the two of you resumed dancing. âLooks like you lost, amiga.â
You bit your lip, trying to think of a way out of it but you knew there was no escape. âI guess a betâs a bet.â you sighed, your voice teasing.
Rubenâs grin widened. âDonât worry. I wonât hold you to it. I know it was just a joke.â
But now, you werenât so sure you wanted it to be. Maybe it was the alcohol or the way he was looking at you but suddenly, the idea didnât seem so ridiculous. You leaned in, close enough that your lips almost brushed his ear. âWhat if I donât mind?â
You felt him stiffen slightly against you, his hands tightening on your waist. âAre you serious?â
You pulled back just enough to meet his eyes, your heart racing a little. âI mean.. you did win.â
For a moment, the playful atmosphere between you shifted. The tension that had been building all night seemed to reach a peak as he looked down at you, his expression caught between surprise and something else, something deeper. His hand slid up to the small of your back, pulling you closer until there was barely any space between you.
âCareful what youâre offering.â he murmured, his voice low and teasing but with an edge of seriousness.
You swallowed, feeling the heat of his body against yours, the music pounding around you, making everything feel more intense. âI can handle it.â you said, trying to sound braver than you felt.
Ruben chuckled softly, his breath warm against your skin. âI donât think you know what youâre getting into.â
Before you could respond, he leaned down, his lips brushing against your ear as he whispered âMaybe we should head back and settle this bet in private.â
Your pulse quickened at his words and suddenly, the playful bet didnât feel so lighthearted anymore. You glanced up at him, meeting his gaze and the look in his eyes made it clear, this night was about to take an unexpected turn.
