Neon Dreams: How to Decorate Your Space with Indie Sleaze Aesthetics 🌙
Hey babe! Ready to transform your space into the ultimate indie sleaze sanctuary? 🖤✨ We’re talking neon lights, vintage posters, and all the grungy vibes that make you feel like you’ve stepped right into a 2000s house party or an underground gig. Whether you’re sprucing up your room or going all out on your entire apartment, I’ve got the tips you need to nail that effortlessly cool, lived-in look that screams indie sleaze. Let’s dive in and get your space looking as iconic as you are! 🎸
1. Neon Lights: The Glow-Up Your Space Needs
First things first, neon lights are an absolute must. They’re the ultimate statement piece that instantly gives your room that edgy, retro vibe. Think neon pinks, electric blues, and bright purples that make your space feel like a moody club or a cool dive bar.
How to Use Them: String them up along your walls, frame your bed, or create a focal point above your desk. For a more dramatic effect, mix and match colors to create a neon oasis that feels both chaotic and cozy.
Pro Tip: If you want to keep things extra nostalgic, opt for neon signs with phrases or symbols that capture the essence of indie sleaze—like a heart, lightning bolt, or a cheeky “open late” sign.
2. Vintage Posters: A Time Machine for Your Walls
Nothing says indie sleaze like a wall covered in vintage band posters and old-school art prints. These are the perfect way to pay homage to the era and showcase your music taste.
How to Style Them: Go for a collage look by mixing different sizes, colors, and textures. Layer posters of your favorite 2000s bands, grungy movie posters, and abstract art prints to create a visually chaotic but totally intentional wall display.
Where to Find Them: Hit up thrift stores, online vintage shops, or even print out high-res images and DIY your own posters. The more eclectic, the better!
3. Grungy Décor: Embrace the Messy, Lived-In Look
Indie sleaze is all about that perfectly imperfect vibe, so don’t be afraid to let your space feel a little messy and lived-in. Think worn-out furniture, scattered records, and cozy textiles that feel like they’ve been collected over time.
Furniture: Look for distressed leather chairs, velvet couches, and vintage coffee tables. Mix and match different styles and eras to create a space that feels authentically yours.
Accessories: Throw in some mismatched pillows, cozy blankets, and a record player with your favorite vinyls stacked nearby. The goal is to make your space feel like a creative haven where anything goes.
4. DIY Elements: Add Your Personal Touch
One of the coolest things about indie sleaze is how DIY it feels. Get crafty and add some personal touches to your space with DIY décor that reflects your style.
Ideas: Try painting an old mirror with neon accents, creating your own art with spray paint and stencils, or even making a wall hanging from thrifted fabrics. The possibilities are endless, and it’s all about making your space feel like an extension of your personality.
Pro Tip: Use washi tape to create geometric designs on your walls, or to frame your posters for an extra pop of color. It’s easy, affordable, and totally customizable!
5. Lighting: Set the Mood with Layers
Lighting is everything when it comes to capturing that indie sleaze vibe. Beyond neon lights, you’ll want to layer different types of lighting to create a moody, intimate atmosphere.
Ideas: String lights, lava lamps, and old-school lampshades are perfect for adding that grungy glow to your space. Drape string lights around your bed or hang them above your window for that dreamy, low-lit effect.
Pro Tip: Mix warm and cool tones to create depth and make your space feel cozy yet edgy. The key is to keep things a little dim and mysterious, like the after-hours vibe of a dive bar.
6. Textures & Layers: Cozy Meets Cool
To truly nail the indie sleaze aesthetic, it’s all about layering different textures and materials. Think leather, velvet, faux fur, and distressed wood—all working together to create a space that’s as cozy as it is cool.
How to Style: Layer a faux fur throw over a velvet chair, or toss some leather pillows on a worn-out sofa. Add a shag rug or a vintage Persian carpet to bring everything together. The goal is to create a space that’s inviting but also has that rock-and-roll edge.
Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns and textures. Indie sleaze is all about breaking the rules, so go wild with your décor choices!
7. Finishing Touches: The Devil’s in the Details
Finally, it’s all about those little details that bring the whole look together. Think quirky knick-knacks, old cameras, stacks of vinyl records, and ashtrays full of faux cigarette butts for that authentic grunge feel (without the smell, of course).
Ideas: Add some polaroid pictures on the wall, scatter some vintage magazines on the coffee table, or even display your favorite old sneakers as part of the décor. It’s all about making the space feel lived-in and loved.
Pro Tip: Incorporate elements that reflect your hobbies and passions—like a guitar in the corner, a stack of your favorite books, or a shelf full of vinyl records. Make your space a true reflection of who you are.
Final Vibes, Babe: Your Indie Sleaze Haven Awaits
And there you have it, your ultimate guide to transforming your space into an indie sleaze paradise! 🌙 Whether you’re going all out or just adding a few key pieces, the goal is to create a space that feels authentic, cool, and full of personality. So go ahead, get creative, and let your inner indie sleaze queen shine through your décor.
What’s the first thing you’re going to add to your space? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to share pics of your indie sleaze-inspired rooms! Happy decorating, babe! ✨

8/9 Colorful Word Count: 685
@jegulus-microfic
“James! We are not getting light up signs to put in our home!” Regulus whisper-yells.
James looks at him with pitiful puppy eyes, pouting out his bottom lip, but reluctantly sets down the light up neon sign.
“We still need the basics, a couch, a bed frame, some tables and chairs etc.,” Regulus continues, now guiding James away from the obnoxiously colorful decorations (that he’s not quite sure how James managed to find so efficiently) and towards the furniture section of the store.
James and Regulus had just bought a flat together after James had gotten his business degree. Regulus only has one more year left in school but he has in-person classes so infrequently that he’s practically never on campus anymore.
The apartment they got is small, only one bedroom, one bathroom, an office, kitchen, and a living room. But it’s perfect for them.
Close enough to Regulus’ College that he can commute. But far enough away that they plan on living there after he finishes school.
The one thing Regulus didn’t account for was how stressful furniture shopping would be. When they had lived apart their spaces were so drastically different. Regulus’ was darker, covered in fairy lights and deeper lighting, books crammed in almost every free square inch of space. Whereas James was big on natural lights, small knick knacks and colorful everything. Neither were messy or aesthetically unappealing by any means but they were definitely polar opposites of one another and it showed. Which is how he finds himself in a home improvement store with James wandering off at every possible opportunity.
Pulling out the list of things on his phone he starts to read off of it.
“We need a couch and an area rug. A queen size bed frame, night stands, and a dresser. A coffee table and two lamps. And a dining table, chairs, and bar stools. Oh and one or two bookshelves and a desk.” He lists off.
“Okay couch first.” James concludes, browse tightly knit in adorable concentration.
“Look at this one love,” Regulus says whilst guiding James over to a plush, emerald green, velvet couch.
“But what about this leather one?” James points out nodding over to a brown couch.
This goes on for a while.
There’s the table and chairs: A choice between a round or square table. Paired with either wooden or fabric chairs.
The bed frame: A Bronze metal frame or wooden pallets.
And the dresser. Natural wood or painted wood.
And the pattern continues.
But at the end of the day, all challenges aside, they’ve managed to make it out of the store with everything they intended on purchasing and more.
———
They had invited most their friends over to help move everything in. Providing pizza as an incentive.
It was quite the struggle getting the larger things up a flight of stairs rather tight stairs. (A true demonstration of Sirius, Barty, and Marlene’s lack of spacing awareness) Assembling things was also a very real struggle as the instructions were very clearly not in a language anyone there spoke. (Remus had ended up very wisely opening google translate to put Peter, Mary, and Evan out of their misery.) Pandora, Regulus, Lily, and Dorcas unleashing their inner interior designers. Making sure everything looked just right. Miraculously they were set up in their new flat after only one all nighter.
After everyone left James and Regulus walk around the apartment, side by side, admiring all of their hard work.
The green couch, with a deep wooden coffee table with a glass top, and thick rug in the living room. Wooden pallets act as a bed frame. And a black and brown dining room table with green chairs that match the couch flawlessly.
James’ posters hang in frames around the house. Books and plants filling open surfaces. With natural light flooding through each and every window. In the end James even got his light up sign- a sun with stars around it to hang- in the living room.
The house is a bit chaotic and colorful but they wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s exactly what both James and Regulus had envisioned. It’s perfect.
#I think every day I post a my microfic later and later#and I have absolutely zero excuses because the second half of my classes were canceled#I also had no plans this evening other than homework#but I did it#hope you guys enjoy#Em’s microfics#marauders#jegulus#james x regulus

Nostalgia Overload: Creating a Perfect Y2K Room
The early 2000s, commonly referred to as the Y2K era, evoke memories of a unique blend of futuristic and nostalgic styles. Creating a perfect Y2K room involves merging these elements into a cohesive, vibrant space. This guide will walk you through the steps to achieve a room that perfectly captures the essence of the Y2K era.
Understanding the Y2K Aesthetic
The Y2K aesthetic is a blend of futuristic and nostalgic elements. It reflects the optimism and excitement of a new millennium, characterized by bright colors, metallic finishes, and digital influences. Key elements include:
Bold Colors and Patterns: Think vibrant hues like neon pink, electric blue, and lime green. Patterns such as checkerboards, animal prints, and geometric shapes were popular.
Tech-Inspired Decor: The era was marked by rapid technological advancements, which influenced home decor. Items like translucent electronics, CD racks, and neon lighting were staples.
Mixed Media: Combining different textures and materials, such as plastic, metal, and glass, adds to the eclectic feel of the Y2K aesthetic.
Choosing the Right Colors
To create an authentic Y2K room, start with the color palette. The early 2000s favored bright, bold colors. Here are some suggestions:
Neon and Fluorescents: Neon pinks, greens, and blues can make your room pop. These colors can be used on accent walls, furniture, or decorative items.
Metallics: Silver, chrome, and other metallic finishes were prevalent. Use these for furniture, fixtures, and decorative pieces to add a futuristic touch.
Black and White: A monochrome base can help balance the bold colors and patterns. Consider black and white checkerboard patterns for flooring or decor.
Furniture Selection
Furniture in a Y2K room should reflect the era’s innovative spirit and playful nature. Here are some tips:
Futuristic Designs: Look for furniture with sleek, modern lines and unique shapes. Pieces like bean bag chairs, inflatable furniture, and curvy, plastic chairs are ideal.
Multifunctional Pieces: Technology influenced the design of furniture, leading to multifunctional items. Consider desks with built-in shelving or beds with storage compartments.
Translucent and Metallic Finishes: Clear plastic chairs, glass tables, and metallic shelving units add to the tech-inspired vibe.
Decorative Elements
The right decor can transform your room into a perfect Y2K haven. Focus on these elements:
Neon Lighting: Neon signs and LED strips can add a vibrant glow. Place them around mirrors, under shelves, or behind furniture.
Tech Gadgets: Old-school gadgets like boom boxes, CD players, and vintage computers can serve as nostalgic decor pieces.
Posters and Wall Art: Display posters of Y2K pop culture icons, abstract art, and graphic designs. Look for prints that feature bold colors and geometric patterns.
Textiles and Bedding
Textiles play a crucial role in achieving the Y2K look. Here’s how to incorporate them:
Bold Patterns: Choose bedding, rugs, and curtains with bold patterns such as animal prints, checkerboards, and geometric shapes.
Vibrant Colors: Ensure that your textiles complement the room’s color palette. Neon and metallic fabrics can add a lively touch.
Mix and Match: Don’t be afraid to mix different textures and patterns. Combining shiny fabrics with soft, plush materials can create a dynamic, layered look.
Accessorizing Your Y2K Room
Accessories are the finishing touch that brings the Y2K room together. Here are some must-have items:
Lava Lamps: A classic symbol of the era, lava lamps add a retro-futuristic element to your room.
Digital Clocks: LED digital clocks or projection clocks can serve as functional decor.
CD Collections: Display your CDs in a rack or mount them on the wall as a unique art piece.
Creating a Tech-Friendly Space
Incorporate modern technology in a way that complements the Y2K aesthetic. Here’s how:
Gaming Consoles: Vintage gaming consoles like the PlayStation 2 or GameCube can be both functional and decorative.
Sound Systems: Set up a retro-inspired sound system with large speakers and a CD player.
Smart Lighting: Use smart bulbs that can change colors to match the vibrant Y2K palette.
Maintaining the Y2K Vibe
To keep your Y2K room looking fresh and nostalgic, follow these maintenance tips:
Regular Updates: Refresh the decor periodically with new items that fit the Y2K theme.
Clean and Organized: Keep the space tidy and free from clutter. Use storage solutions that blend with the room’s aesthetic.
Stay Inspired: Follow Y2K-themed social media accounts and blogs for continuous inspiration and new ideas.
Conclusion
Creating a perfect Y2K room is a fun and nostalgic journey that blends the futuristic optimism of the early 2000s with bold, vibrant decor. By following these tips and incorporating key elements of the Y2K aesthetic, you can transform any space into a retro-futuristic haven that captures the essence of the era. Embrace the bold colors, tech-inspired decor, and playful accessories to create a room that is both nostalgic and ahead of its time.

Youth bedrooms decoration trends - Interior decoration
Teen bedrooms are a place where young people express their personality and escape the rigors of everyday life. When it comes to decorating, there are many different components to consider, from color combinations and patterns to furniture and accessories. Here is a summary of some of the latest trends in teenage bedroom decor.
Color combinations for teen bedrooms
When choosing colors for teen bedrooms, the options are endless. Bright and bold colors are especially popular, as they add personality and vitality to the space.
Many teenagers are drawn to neon and pastel tones, as well as energetic and fun patterns like chevrons, stripes, and polka dots. For a more relaxed look, soft and neutral tones like grays and blues are also popular, sometimes combined with simple patterns like flowers or geometric shapes.
Furniture selection
The choice of furniture has a big impact on the overall look and feel of a teen bedroom. Many teenagers opt for modern and minimalist furniture, with clean lines and elegant finishes.
However, there is also a resurgence of vintage and retro furniture, such as “mid-century” or “shabby chic” styles, combined with modern accents to decorate teen bedrooms. For those with a unique sense of style, whimsical and ornate pieces in vibrant colors can add a fun and playful touch.
Accessories for teen bedrooms
Accessories are a great way for teenagers to express their individual style in their bedroom. Popular options include wall art and posters, decorative pillows and blankets, and fun and casual design lamps.
Some teenagers opt for eye-catching pieces, such as a chandelier or a giant mirror, to add an extra touch of design interest. Plants such as succulents and air plants are also popular, as they add a natural and relaxed touch, and require little maintenance.
Storage solutions
In teen bedrooms, storage solutions are especially important. To keep things tidy and organized, many teenagers opt for built-in storage solutions, such as shelves, under-bed drawers, and bedside tables with built-in shelves.
Hanging storage systems, such as wall baskets and door organizers, are also a great way to keep clutter at bay. To achieve a modern and functional look, some teenagers even opt for multi-purpose furniture, such as beds with built-in storage or desks that double as bedside tables.
Arrangement of teen bedrooms
The arrangement of furniture and accessories can have a big impact on the overall look of a teen bedroom. A popular trend is the use of asymmetrical designs, which are visually interesting and conducive to creating a relaxed and casual atmosphere.
Many teenagers also opt for more open designs, with minimal furniture and accessories, to create a less cluttered and more peaceful environment.
Decorating a striking wall
To make teen bedrooms fun and eye-catching, it is ideal to explore colorful patterns and bright tones. It is also a great idea to incorporate thematic decorations, which are creative ideas and define the trends in teen bedrooms.
For this option, it is important to know the tastes of the kids, their ages, as there are children’s themes with comic characters or stories. Other types of themes to incorporate could be sports, music, there are options for all tastes and varieties.
Adding nature
Incorporating nature into home decor is one of the most important trends of 2024. Adding plants, natural light, or a large window in the kids’ room with a view of a group of trees, or just the sun, will compensate and balance the lack of decoration in the room. The few accessories, the reduced space, in addition, will teach them to love nature and obtain all the benefits it provides.
Adding colorful curtains
Adding floor-to-ceiling patterned curtains provides a very elegant touch to teen bedrooms. In addition to being a very eye-catching accessory that adds a lot of color and life. You should take into account the combination with the furniture and bedding for a visually balanced and beautiful look.
Final words…
Today’s teenagers have access to a wealth of materials and decorating ideas, allowing them to create a room that reflects their individual style and personality. The latest trends in bedroom decor involve embracing color and patterns and playing with unique design elements.
By combining modern and vintage accents, using many storage solutions, and experimenting with asymmetrical and open designs, teenagers can create a modern, comfortable, and cozy bedroom.

Man Cave Lighting Ideas
The perfect man cave is a good idea, and not complete without the right lighting fixtures. Whether you’re creating a space for entertainment and socializing, a small room to retire to with a book and a cold drink or your home theater to watch your favourite team in the big game, the modern man cave isn't complete without the proper lighting. The possibilities for man cave lighting are endless, from soft and subtle light bulbs to vibrant and showy neon lights. To help you get inspired and find just the right look for specific areas in your man cave, here are some great tips for choosing the best man cave lighting ideas. Lighting plays a crucial role in creating the perfect man cave. Lighting must be done properly to set the right tone for your man cave. With the right lighting, you can create a comfortable environment and invite yourself and any guests you may have over. From recessed lights to track lighting, there are several options for finding ideal man cave lighting ideas. Man Cave Lighting Ideas A man cave is a growing trend among contemporary homeowners, and selecting the right lighting for your space is essential. With the right lighting after a long day, you can create an environment that reflects your personality and bring out the best in your man cave goodies. Whether you're going for a rustic look for your wine cellar or a modern style for your living room, plenty of lighting solutions are available to make any man cave comfortable and stylish. Incorporating different types of light fixtures like pendant lights, desk lamps, and accent lights in display cases will help to create layers of illumination that can be easily adjusted depending on what activities you’re doing in the room. Consider task-specific lighting such as wall sconces above work areas, the pool table, low hanging lights over a small bar area and recessed cans for general illumination or dimmer switches to set the mood for entertaining friends. Ambient Lighting Ambient lighting is essential for any man cave. Not only does it create a sense of coziness and comfort in your personal space, it also serves as an important element in the design and aesthetic of your space. Ambient lighting can enhance the look and feel of your living room while ensuring that all your activities are properly illuminated. There are several ways to achieve ambient lighting in a man cave. Task lamps provide direct illumination when you’re working or playing games, while indirect lighting, such as wall sconces, can provide a softer glow. You could also opt for recessed lights on the ceiling or use floor lamps to create interesting shadows on the walls. Task Lighting Photo by Timotej Nagy: https://www.pexels.com/photo/turned-on-desk-lamp-284951/ The man cave is a time-honored tradition, allowing men to create and design their own perfect place to kick back and relax after a long day at work. But when it comes to lighting a man cave, one important factor shouldn't be overlooked – task lighting. Task lighting provides focused illumination that helps get the job done in any room, and it's no different in the man cave! Task lighting can give the perfect light for activities such as reading, completing DIY projects or playing arcade games. A great way to get started with task lighting is by installing LED lighting under cabinets or above desktops. This type of low voltage lighting is energy efficient which is good news for energy bills and can be easily installed with minimal wiring. Additionally, LED strip lights come in all sorts of colors; this allows you to create your own unique style while still providing ample amounts of light for whatever you may be doing. Accent Lighting Photo by Designecologist: https://www.pexels.com/photo/silver-imac-displaying-collage-photos-1779487/ Accent lighting is the best way to highlight the features of a man cave. Whether it's for hanging out with friends, gaming, or watching movies - accent lighting can help create the perfect ambience. Accent lights are used to brighten up specific areas without overpowering the whole room. For example, you could use recessed ceiling lights and wall sconces to cast light in different directions. Or, if you want a bit more drama in your man cave, try adding an interesting floor lamp as an eye-catching focal point. Spotlights can also draw attention to artwork or other decorations you may have on display in your space. No matter what accent lighting you decide on, make sure it reflects your unique style and personality while still being functional and practical when it comes to illumination. Decorative Lights Photo by Tim Mossholder: https://www.pexels.com/photo/laugh-neon-light-signage-turned-on-1115680/ Decorative lights can be the perfect finishing touch to any man cave. You could place led lights inside old liquor bottles or beer bottles, and use a rope light or wall lights. Whether it's a rec room, basement, or garage, decorative lighting can add a unique and personal flair to your space. With plenty of options available for purchase online, you can easily find the perfect style to fit your man cave designs. From LED strip lighting, neon signs, and even lava lamps - there is something for everyone! LED light strips are one of the most popular choices when decorating with lighting in your man cave. Not only do they provide a warm ambience with their adjustable dimming capabilities, but they also come in a variety of colors which allow you to customize your space however you'd like. Best Practices Man caves are becoming increasingly popular for creating a personal space that reflects one's taste and style. But with any personal space, the right lighting is key for creating the perfect atmosphere. Just putting the main light on can feel stark and cold, but playing with lighting can completely change the feel of a space. Try to make the best use of natural light to increase energy savings. No matter the purpose of your man cave - recreational area, home theatre or just an extra lounge room - following these best practices for man cave lighting will ensure you have the perfect environment to relax in. When setting up your man cave lighting, dimmable LED or halogen bulbs are great options for flexibility in adjusting brightness when needed. You'll also want to consider task-specific fixtures such as floor lamps to provide focused light on a specific area, and wall sconces can add ambient light around your room. And don't forget accent lighting! This type of lighting adds visual interest while helping draw attention away from imperfections in your space. In conclusion, the right lighting can make a big difference in any man cave. You can enhance the look of your man cave with the right lighting and create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation and leisure. There are many different lighting options available, so deciding what type best suits your needs and taste is essential. With careful planning and thoughtful consideration, any man can create the perfect ambience in his man cave. Read the full article

What do their bedrooms/living areas look like? I'm going to use all 3 of my asks to request this for all of the boys if that's ok! ❤
Man, I’ve had this one in my secret notes for a good while now!
Undertale:
Both the tale brothers live in a nice little gated community. Their house is one of the smaller ones and has the same layout as the one in Snowdin. The house is pretty basic with some cozy throws and wall tapestries to spruce it up
Sans: his room actually has a proper bed and frame this time. The sheets and blankets are still bundled up in a pile on the floor though. Sans also has his homemade trashnado in the corner. There’s a desk on the wall adjacent to the door which has his laptop. And several folders stacked next to it. Other than a dresser, there’s literally nothing else in there. Sans doesn’t care much about stuff
Papyrus: his room has bright orange walls. He left the race car bed behind underground but has a race car blanket to make up for it. His walls are covered in superhero and comic posters. He also has a display case for some old figurines and his comic collection. Papyrus’ desk is one of those nice fancy drafting ones where he can adjust it to tilt upwards. He has a ship wheel attached to his door for some reason.
Underswap
The swap bros home is only a few blocks from the classic brothers neighborhood. The only thing basic about it is the cream walls. All the furniture and decorations are bright colors. The kitchen especially is real nice. The oven and stove are top notch, and the counters are filled with mason jars full of goodies.
Star: his room can blind a lesser man when you walk in. The walls are bright yellow, the bed (which is a bunk bed by the way) is neon orange. Galaxy posters decorate the wall. Besides the clashing colors, the furniture is pretty basic. Only the top bunk actually has a mattress. The bottom bunk is used as a storage shelf. He also has a shoe rack by his door
Honey: you can practically feel the nerdy aura as you enter his room. The first thing you see is a display case housing some neat figurines of characters from his favorite shows. He’s also got a pretty nice bookshelf on the opposite wall that’s nearly full. Honeys bed has a curtain around it for extra privacy with a nice little wall lamp above the pillows
Underfell
They have a home a little closer to the city center but still far enough to be considered suburbs. It’s a very sleek and modern house with white walls, tile floors and sleek black and metal furniture. The only thing that doesn’t fit the rest of the theme is this nasty old patched up sofa in the living room. The thing is absolutely hideous but is sooo comfy.
Red: his room has soft grey walls and smells like miter oil. Makes sense since one wall is just a long basic table covered in machine parts that red tinkers with in his down time. He actually doesn’t have a bed. Instead he sleeps on this giant leather bean bag. He likes it that way. There’s a few car posters decorating the walls
Edge: he obviously put a lot of thought into his rooms decorations. Everything is pretty black marble or a sleek white wood. His bed covers are blood red with a nice geometric designs on top in silver. He has a beautiful black desk with some pretty jars filled to the brim with nothing but novelty pens. If you looked in his desk drawers you would find notebooks and even more pens
Swapfell
They don’t own a house and instead live in a two bedroom one bath apartment on the third floor of one of lords complexes. The furniture is pretty minimalistic but very nice quality. Most decorations are metal
Mal: the first thing you’ll see in his room is a large wooden drawing desk where pencils and watercolors are neatly arranged on the side. There’s also a vanity with a light up mirror and a nice collection of makeup. Also a huge slanted hunters knife. He uses it to make sure his eyeliner is extra sharp.
Cash: his bedroom is the perfect definition of organized chaos. It looks messy but for cash, he knows exactly where every thing is. There’s a small tv in there with some old game consoles hooked up to it. The bed is never made.
Horrortale
Their home rests in a neighborhood bordering the forest of ebott. The houses there all have a lot more yard space than most houses in the city. The horrortale home is super cozy with lots of knit throws and pillows scattered around. The back patio has a little dog door and there’s a 50% chance of seeing a chicken walk through lol
Oak: his room is also pretty basic. The bed however has so many blankets. Like way more than any person should need. Oak is a blanket hoarder. There’s a lot of notebooks stacked on his wooden desk along with a file of patterned paper for scrapbooking.
Willow: his room has a raised bed with a cute little ladder on the side so that his dog can jump up. You can tell a lot of the furniture has been homemade or refurbished. The room is larger and in the middle is a circular stone table that’s stained with paint. It’s usually housing his latest craft
Underlust
They used to live in the same neighborhood as the classic brothers but have recently moved closer to the inner city because of work. Their home is still in the process of being unpacked mostly, but their rooms are done! The house is actually pretty conservative looking with grey walls, white wooden furniture and soft pastel decor. They do have a stripper pole in the living room though lol
Charm: his room looks exactly how you expect from him. Dark walls with lots of bright rave type decorations. On his dresser is a large pretty cake display that stands out from the rest of the rooms theme lol. His room is always on a state of organized chaos with his desk and bed covered in nick knacks but the floors staying oddly clean
Sugar: his room has light lavender walls and black furniture. It’s a big difference from the soft feminine style people expect from him. Instead sugar has a more sleek modern style to his room. He also has a standard mannequin in the middle that always has a new dresses pinned to it.
Fellswap (red)
They own a pretty two story house only a block away from the two apartment complexes that lord owns. The front lawn/garden is in top shape with lots of those metal flower decorations stuck in the ground along the dirt outline. Inside the house is most worn but comfy looking furniture. Nothing special
Lord: his room is pretty basic with mostly brown and grey accents. He does have a large mostly filled bookcase. There’s also two white bean bags and a deep red rug that covers nearly the whole floor of the room.
Mutt: he actually has two rooms. The first is pretty simple with just his bed, a writing desk and a rack for some shoes. Also his bird cage for KFC (pet pigeon). The second room has a sink, and several cages and boxes for the injured animals that he rehabilitates. The second room is slightly larger than his actual room.
Fellswap gold
They actually live in a studio apartment above wines antique shop. The apartment used to be an unused storage static until wine bought the building and repurposed it. The living space itself is a little small, but they also have access to the roof which the gold bros use as a potted garden and dining area.
Wine: his room is very classy with silk curtains on the window and a silky cream canopy above his head. All the furniture is a dark grey wood with pretty carvings and designs. The walls are decorated with beautiful floral paintings from his brother. It’s a pretty well planned out room. Very cosy and luxurious
Coffee: he has two rooms as well. The smaller of the two is just his bed, dresser, closet and a tv with some consoles hooked up to it. The second room has shelves lining nearly every wall except for one which is just a big collab mural. On the shelves is various art supplies and projects. There’s one large sketch desk on one wall. And finally in the middle of the room is a tarp attached to the floor housing whatever piece of furniture coffee is restoring at the moment .
Dancetale
They also own an apartment, one of the flats in lords buildings on the ground floor. It’s the other building from the swapfell brothers. The walls are painted a cheery yellow and the house is mostly decorated with spring colors. There’s always a huge bowl of fresh fruit in the kitchen.
Pop: his room is mix and match of completely different furniture and gadgets. Pop isn’t someone who cares about themes so he will keep whatever catches his fancy. Instead of a bed, he has a hammock attacked to the ceiling with a pillow and some throw blankets casually tossed on top lol.
Rhythm: his room is pretty sparse with just his bed, a shoe rack, and a dresser. On the dresser are pictures of each of his face classes right before they graduate. Rhythm doesn’t really care all that much about decor so the walls are pretty bare too
Outertale
They live in the same gated community as the classic brothers! The outertale home has high ceilings and lots of windows. The living room is the real centerpiece of the home. It has several large antique bookcases and display cases. Inside the displays are various rocks and crystals and the occasional fossil. It’s really neat.
Pluto: his room is comprised of mostly blues grays and greens. He has a small bookcase on the side of his bed where he keeps the things he’s currently reading. There’s also a large fish-tank with an assortment of saltwater fish inside. Pluto’s room also has a large circular fluffy rug in the middle of the floor. The floor itself is hardwood
Jupiter: his room has a similar color scheme except instead of greens, Jupiter has gold instead. He has some exercise equipment stacked nicely on the side of his bed including weights. There’s a wall tapestry with a printed picture of the asteroid belt the outertale monsters used to live in.
Gastertale
The gaster brothers also live in the same neighborhood as the classic and outertale bros. They’re at the very end in the little cul-de-sac. The interior of the house is almost all white with cream carpet, metro grey walls, and white furniture. A few of the small decorations add a bit of color. There’s a lot of potted succulents.
G: his room is probably the only dark room of the house. His walls are a charcoal grey and the furniture is mostly jet black with a few mustard colored decorations. There’s a metal wire bookcase hanging on the wall. G also has a plastic anatomy dummy that he dresses up in his motorcycle gear when he’s not using it. G thinks he’s funny
Green: like the rest of the home, his room is also mostly white. He has a pretty pale green rack for all of his glasses on his dresser. Green also has his several degrees framed in silver on the walls. his room is always spotless
Farmtale:
The farm bros have an old Victorian home that they fixed up themselves. They’re home borders the acres of farmland they own and is about a 45 minute drive from ebott city. The inside is decorated with mostly wooden furniture. There’s like four rocking chairs on the porch lol
Peaches: his room fits the theme of the house with mostly wooden furniture and a lot of quilts and rugs to add color and soften it up. Peaches always has a vase of fresh wildflowers on his dresser. The walls have photographs of plants and animals taped to them that peaches took himself.
Rancher: this mad lad has a large moose skull hanging above his four poster log cabin bed. He also hangs his favorite hunting rifles just below the moose lol. His bedroom is mostly wooden of course but is also decorated with lots of red and orange plaids.
Horrorfell
They live in the same neighborhood as the horrortale and horrorswap brothers. Their home is literally right in between the two. Inside it’s decorated in a mix between sleek modern metals and frumpy cozy style. Somehow the horrorfell bros still have their original sofa from the underground. There’s a lot of little homemade staircases for their cat doomfanger who’s too old to claim on top of things herself now
Rust: his walls are painted a soft heather grey and have some basic wooden decorations that noir painted for fun. The furniture is pretty normal with the exception of a large treasure style chest next to his bed. Open it up and you’ll find a collection of drawings and gifts from the kids he’s watched over the years. Rust didn’t have the heart to throw them away.
Noir: unsurprisingly, his room is littered in canvases and paintings on the walls. It’s divided into two sides: the messy paint side and his nice neat living side. He even has a line of tape going down the middle to complete the divide. On his living side is his bed, closet, and a low bookcase that he uses as a second dresser. The actual bookcase is in the living room
Horrorswap
As y’all all know, their house is right next to the horrorfells and one house away from the horrortales. They like bright colors and have a sort of summery themed house. The best part is the back garden which is filled with garden boxes of veggies, fruit bushes, and fruit trees.
Lilac: his rooms main color is a pretty powder blue along with canary yellow and some bright green. He has a yoga mat on the floor in place of a rug. The walls have some neat sunrise posters
Basil: his room is pretty cosy with lots of knit blankets and fluffy pillows. He has a massive poster of Pixar’s ratatouille that rust got him as a joke. Basil has like five coconut planters, each housing a different herb plant making his room smell like an Italian restaurant
The Mafias (tale, fell, swap)
The mafia brothers live in an apartment complex masquerading as a warehouse. The ground and top two floors are working area while there were three secret basement levels. The mafia bros home consists of the whole bottom level with all their rooms connected to a hallway. At the end of the hallway is a living space and the kitchen.
Snipe: his room is the one closest to the living area. Inside is sage walls with a few house plants that can survive in low light. His bed is almost never made lol. If one was to tear the room apart, they would find at least six different guns stashed in hidden compartments
Bruiser: his room is the closest to the staircase. Inside the room somehow looks super messy but is actually spotless. Bruiser decorates the walls with all kinds of gifts people randomly give him during his vigilante escapes. Stuff from pocket mirrors, to foreign currency to even a small collection of sea shells. He drilled holes into them and hung them up on strings. Other than his walls, the furniture is pretty plain
Butch: his room is a mix of greys, blacks an silvers with the basics of furniture and a small black leather sofa. On the walls are some pretty hand melded metal decorations that butch made himself. He smokes in his room so it reeks of cigars
Boss: his room fits him perfectly with clean white plaster walls, sleek metal furniture and black and gold marble decor. Everything in that room has a specific place. If anyone moved his stuff, he’d know. It’s the only mafia bro room that doesn’t caught smell like smoke somehow. There’s a male model mannequin that he uses to practice designing clothes on
Ace: the most eye catching part of his room is a large vanity with several lamps attached and a very extensive makeup kit. I’m talking professional grade. Ace isn’t the spy for nothing. He also has an open closet so all his clothing is out on display. The main color of his room is mauve funny enough
Slim: his room is a drab grey and has a large desk taking up a whole wall. It’s filled with screens and monitors. He also has a few tv screens hooked up to the wall. It almost looks like a security room. On the other side is his bed with a canopy curtain for privacy. There’s a few anime posters on the wall as well

First Stop: The Mime Motel
What surprised Raisans the most about the trip thus far was the pleasant smell of The Cranberry's interior, considering the company. Plus, he thought there would be a hopeless amount of fleas. But so far, his compatriots seemed bug-free.
Inside The Cranberry, beside the token human, was Kenji the Opossum, Cooky the Sock Puppet, and Quarter the Dog. He wondered why they lacked surnames and if they referred to him as "Raisans the Human".
Before continuing the long drive, taking off from the sanctuary of the highway rest area, he took a quick look at the map Cooky had planned the whole trip on.
At some point, they would visit their friend, @insomni-ass, except the writer had no idea how to portay them. So first, they stopped at a place called The Mime Motel, as indicated by a sticker of a cartoonishly morose mime near the state line.
Little did he know just what he was getting himself into.
The heat of the harsh sun radiated off of the desert sand. The black asphalt of the winding road was the lone feature for miles around, seemingly flowing like a twisting river through sand and stone. Apart from distant plateaus and cacti, there stood a single building off the side of the road; The Mime Motel.
It was obviously a dated building, its design was indicative of late 50's, early 60's sensibilities. The outside was covered in powder blue panels, the neon signage had seen better days, and the wooden mime statue outside the office was slowly degrading.
"This is it guys!" Cooky announced as they hopped out of the car. "The Mime Motel!"
Raisans looked around at the surrounding desert. Then he noticed the old, creepy graveyard next door, separated by a dilapidated wooden fence. Something in his head warned him that the graveyard was horrendously haunted and that he shouldn't be there. Unfortunately, he was on a road trip.
"Well, that's disturbing." Quarter commented, looking at the barely intact mime statue. Its eyes seemed to follow everyone as they passed it on their way to the front desk.
Waiting for them at the desk was a very tired looking old woman. Her beady little eyes seemed completely devoid of light, perhaps a side effect of working in a scarcely visited and uncomfortably creepy motel in the middle of the desert.
"Welcome to The Mime Motel." Greeted the old lady. Her voice was raspy and dry, barely above a whisper. "The friendliest motel in the Desert State."
She was careful to omit the fact that it was the only motel for miles.
The room they booked seemed comfortable, if a bit musty. The only real issue they had was the large amount of mime memorabilia that lined the walls; autographed photos of supposedly famous mimes, ceramic mime figurines, commemorative mime plates, a mime-shaped table lamp, and a full-sized mime doll sitting on a chair.
"Where'd you even hear about this place?" Kenji said as he dropped his bags on one of two beds.
"Maine told me about it." Cooky explained. "Said it was a fun place to stay."
"Did he mention what he meant by fun?" Kenji, naturally as one should, was skeptical of the raccoon. Maine wasn't exactly a trustworthy critter, especially since he openly admits to being up to no good.
Raisans retreated to the bathroom to splash some cold water on his face, the only respite from the desert heat. When he arrived, he was startled by the same sort of decor inside the bathroom as with the main room. A trio of mimes adorned the shower curtain, a mime figure held the toilet paper, and the mirror had a few mime stickers affixed on its perimeter.
Suddenly, as cool water dripped from his chin, he heard a scream from the room.
Stumbling in, he returned to find Kenji, Cooky, and Quarter intently staring at the lone, full-sized mime doll on the chair.
"What the hell's going on?"
"It moved." Quarter nervously stammered. "Its arm moved."
Everyone's eyes were as wide as plates, or at least Kenji's and Quarter's were. Cooky's unblinking googly eyes were always that big. However, the blue rat manipulating the sock puppet off-screen was definitely wide-eyed.
"Kenji?" Cooky muttered, cautiously inching over to the opossum.
Meanwhile, Kenji reached over to his open bag on the bed. As carefully as an expert disposing of a bomb, he produced a large, metal bat.
"Okay." He whispered, taking a few breaths to center himself. "Calm, collected, confident."
But rather than follow the mantra, he began to savagely beat the mime doll. He was screamed and cursed at the doll, crushing its stupid plush body with the bat, Cooky warbled and wailed dramatically and Quarter silently watched in utter horror.
Raisans, however, found the drama and violence a bit excessive. After all, it was only a doll that supposedly moved.
Kenji stood over the crumpled form of the mime doll, out of breath and satisfied that the doll was either not moving again or that they were mistaken. Cooky continued to writhe, making an odd warbling sound that was reminiscent of a sheet of thin plastic being shaken. The opossum grabbed the puppet, making then stop.
"Is it dead?" Quarter inquired, her bell collar jingling gently.
"I think so." Said Kenji.
"It's a doll." Raisans added.
But then, just as they collectively let out a sigh of relief, the mime doll's arms wriggled to life, twisting in unnatural ways. It lifted its head, turning it all the way around to look Kenji in the eyes with its own black button eyes.
When the opossum took a swing at the doll, he was shocked to see it catching the bat with its soft, plush hands. He could feel that the doll had actual strength in its arms as it ripped the bat from his claws.
"Oh crap."
Now was the time to run.
@artsycooky13 @kenji-arts @raisansgrapeon @a-quarter-of-roses
#The Road Trip#The Mime Motel#oh dear god!#straight from my nightmares folks!#i am actually deathly afraid of mimes clowns and other sort of disturbingly adorned entertainers#and antique dolls#you know the kind that seem to watch you#and tend to be haunted by demons masquerading as little girls

W Hotel, Osaka
Design: Concrete
Location: 4-1-3 Minami Senba, Chuo-ku, 542-0081 Osaka, Japan
W Hotel Osaka Opens its Doors
Situated on Midosuji Boulevard, a new 27-story landmark high-rise, designed by Nikken Sekkei and with a Tadao Ando supervised facade, is the home of Japan’s first W Hotel. Don’t be deceived by its simple black monolith design – inside hides a world of extravagance! Its interior is inspired by the many facets of the city, welcoming guests to experience Osaka, through the eyes of concrete.
The true spirit of Osaka Every W Hotel is designed for its specific location – with foreign designers invited to offer the fresh perspectives of an outsider. For W’s first hotel in Japan, concrete absorbed the sites, sounds, flavors and thrills of Osaka. From the simple beauty of the cherry blossoms and gingko trees lining the Midosuji Boulevard to the vibrant neon and busy streetscape of Osaka’s nightlife district Dotonburi. Concrete found inspiration in both the simple and traditional, as well as the modern, obsessive and extravagant and created a design concept of extravagant simplicity – celebrating the true spirit of the city.
The arrival The “wow” experience begins as you enter the long arrival tunnel from the main Midōsuji Boulevard entrance. Inspired by delicate blossoms and the fine art of origami, more than 3000 circles were laser cut into sturdy metal and folded randomly. The lights behind the abstract blossom change colors with the 4 seasons and shift in intensity from daytime to night – creating an otherworldly portal into the world of W Osaka. The Osaka experience proceeds in the arrival lobby. Here, the asanoha pattern was the inspiration behind the ceiling, flooring and staircase. A simple yet bold ceiling uses a scaled-up, 3D version of this traditional geometric pattern – which is reflected in the pattern on the granite flooring, in 6 dark grey shades.
The social heart – living room & bar In a standard hotel, the first thing guests see is the check-in counter. Instead, when exiting the lift, W Osaka guests immediately see the bar, the social heart of the hotel. To connect and separate the spaces that serve the W Osaka guests on this floor – like an endless shoji screen – a continuous white, sheer curtain with sharp origami-style pleats flows from here to there and around again.
Guests are welcome to relax (and people-watch) in the hotel’s Living Room – half indoors, and half outdoors. Above the indoors lounge floats a wild cloud of rectangular lamps, hanging vertically and horizontally, at various heights. White zigzag “neon” lights shine through the translucent acrylic forms, in a desaturated homage to Osaka’s electric nightlife scenery. It’s like the colors of the neon have dripped on top of the furniture, and are arranged from purple to pink to orange to yellow to blue to green.
Restaurant oh.lala… The interior design for this French themed bistro-diner draws its inspiration from traditional copper pots and pans, as well as the typical Breton blue and white striped shirt. Along the wall stainless steel shelves are styled with unique porcelain objects decorated in blue dots – combining traditional French shapes & colors with the circle obsession of W Osaka. Adding sparkle from above, are clouds of small ball pendant lights, suspended at different heights within the waves of the curtain.
The WET deck, bar & courtyard Inspired by the Japanese love for nature, the WET area is characterised by smooth walls and round corners. The endless line of the horizon is the simplest abstraction of nature. This line becomes a playful element connecting all the spaces on this floor, as a chrome horizon flows along the walls. Each area has its own character – color-coded in shades of green, grey, blue or pink tiling – defining the space’s function.
Open to the elements, with views of sky, W Osaka’s WET courtyard is an oasis, with live planting trailing down the walls of the atrium. From its elevated position on the horizon line, the pool forms a blue backdrop to this area. Directly adjacent to the courtyard, guests can grab a cocktail at the WET bar.
The guest rooms The color theme of the guest rooms alternates per floor, between sakura pink and blue – allowing guests to choose the color they prefer. The rooms consist of an open plan, with the living room, sleeping zone and bathroom separated by a contemporary glass shoji screen. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in natural light and amazing views of the city. A wall made of grey tinted 2-way mirrors conceals an ‘escape’ lighting feature. When turned on, it transforms the room with dramatic pink or blue diagonal stripes, inspired by Osaka’s neon. Another surprise is locked away behind the walnut doors of the closets. Famous for their gamer’s pixel art, eBoy graphic designers created a “pixorama” of Osaka, filled to the brim with the city’s famous landmarks in full pixilated color.
bathroom: Having a semi-open bathroom offers guests the level of privacy they prefer – with the option of closing off the bathroom from the sleeping area – using the contemporary shoji screen. The entire bathroom is clad in grey marble. Guests can either enjoy a good hot soak in the white, freestanding tub – or use the separate shower, located behind grey tinted glass doors.
sleeping zone: In the center of the room, walnut flooring demarcates the sleeping zone. A walnut ledge runs across wall, extending into the living room. This holds the king bed, bedside tables and black cone lamps – as well as the living room sofa. Behind the ledge, soft uplighting illuminates a white plaster wall. A round, rice paper lamp, inspired by Japanese fans, subtly glows on the wall. At the foot of the bed is a large tatami pouf.
living room :The 3rdarea, the living room, is defined by soft carpet in a gradient pattern running from pink (or blue) to grey. Each room has a sofa, 2 bar stool and a walnut cocktail bar, which can also serve as a desk. The main purpose of the bar is enjoying cocktails of course! The bar extends into a niche lined with reflective, rainbow colored dichroic film, with a mirror backsplash.
EWOW suite High above Osaka, on the 27thfloor, the Extreme Wow suite looks out over – and beyond – the skyline of the city. Inspired by traditional Japanese homes, the suite was designed in a sequence of 5 rooms divided by deep, oak portals with sliding shoji screens that can be used to close off or open up the different rooms.
The overall design is based on the duality of simplicity and extravagance, allowing guests to change the atmosphere of the suite. Whether they desire an intimate and personal ambiance, or want to create a more extraverted setting for entertaining.
So open up the secret karaoke booth, roll out the dj station, pick up that mic and let’s party!

Osaka Accommodation Building:
The busy urban streetscape of Osaka welcomes concrete’s latest interior project: The first W Hotelin Japan. With a total of 337 guest rooms & suites, W Osaka asserts its presence with a 27-story high-rise building by Nikken and a black monolith facade designed by Tadao Ando.
Created for Sekisui House and Marriott International, and in collaboration with Nikken an Nikken Space Design, the building is due to open in March 2021.
Concrete’s team of Dutch designers explored Osaka’s past, present, and future, its urban and natural landscapes, and its fascinating culture. Visually, they discovered that Osaka is water and nature – but also neon and bright colors. Struck by the contrast between the aesthetic of Japanese minimalism and the extravagance of an urban world saturated with colors. Especially in downtown Osaka an Dotonbori – Osaka’s nightlife district – the display of flashing neon is breathtakingly vivid and joyful.
The goal is to share the spirit of the city with the guests of W Osaka. And let the interior of the hotel tell a story that is truly Osaka. Celebrating the opposing – yet complementary – forces of extravagance and simplicity.
The sprawling metropolis of Osaka was once the imperial capital of Japan and the country’s economic hub. At its heart, the wide Yodo River flows into a harbor bustling with trade. Throughout its history, visitors contributed their cultures and technologies to the city – creating a prosperous port with an extroverted, lively, and somewhat rebellious culture.
All of this energy attracts international businesses and visitors. Concrete’s team of Dutch designers explored Osaka’s past, present, and future, its urban and natural landscapes, and its fascinating culture.

Another storage clean-out sale!
Because I collected too much stuff again!
Everything below the cut is for sale. Offer whatever bells or NMT you think is appropriate. It doesn’t have to be a lot, so long as it’s not less than what I would get for selling it to the Nooks, which is what I’ll do with anything not claimed within a few days.

Past The Fog
Min Yoongi x Fem Reader Genre: Fluff Words: 6k [Masterlist] Plot: When you arbitrarily join a group project, you are greeted with one of your more intimidating classmates, Min Yoongi. But over the span of the project you come to realize there is more than meets the eye to your scary project partner. Perhaps he deserves a second glance. Prequel to All Clear a/n - @yugyeomsauntmimi I hate you for guessing I was writing this story over a dumb gif I used!!! I was trying to surprise people dammit! Anyways, it’s early but in honor of Yoongi’s bday here it is. Hope y’all like it c:
Min Yoongi scares most people. If you don’t look carefully, you’d think a scowl were permanently on his face. And if he doesn’t scare you, then you probably don’t know who he is. He’s the kid who always sits at the back of lectures, with his head on the desk or lit by the screen of his phone. Strangely enough though, he’s close with two of the most well-known guys in the university—Kim Namjoon, the smartest guy I know, and Jung Hoseok, the friendliest guy I know. That’s how I first came across Yoongi. “Y/N, want to be part of our group for the project?” Hoseok smiled at me cheerfully, gesturing to Namjoon and Yoongi who were sitting across the room. “With you, we’d make the perfect team!” I shrugged my shoulders before getting up to join the other guys. Normally I would’ve just waited for the person sat next to me to give me an awkward look before giving into a silent partnership. When I sat down between the warm Hoseok and the ever constant, Namjoon, I was pleased to have been personally invited this time around. “Thanks for joining us, Y/N, we could use your aesthetics,” Namjoon smiled politely. I shook my head softly, naturally brushing off his compliment. We had worked together in different classes before and it was always a pleasure with the ever savvy Namjoon. “Your art is awesome! I’ve always wanted to get to know you better,” Hoseok added, his classic bright smile shining on me. I chuckled, offering him my own, albeit lesser, smile. “Same here.” And then my eyes landed on Yoongi, his serious eyes boring into mines before flickering back down to his phone.
“This is Yoongi,” Namjoon introduced. “I’ll get us started with a group chat tonight. For now, we can delegate team roles.” “Since we have to make a commercial, it only makes sense that Y/N be our designer, right?” Hoseok added. I shrugged my shoulders, nodding complacently. “Yoongi, you down for the music?” Namjoon asked. Yoongi lifted his head, his lips twitching into a half smirk for a split second. “You mean a jingle? You asshole.” “Awesome!” Namjoon chuckled before pointing his pen at Hoseok. “You’re in charge of presentation then. I’ll do the research.” “Wow, we’re really the perfect team!” Hoseok exclaimed before the class regrouped as one for lecture. The second time I met Yoongi was through a video call. “Hey Y/N, thanks for meeting us at my place,” Namjoon smiled, offering me a can of cider. “It’s alright, your place is neat,” I shrugged. I had come to his flat a few times to work on different projects. His roommate, Jin, was always out working or in class anyways so we were never disturbed, and it honestly was neat—way neater than any guy’s apartment I had ever seen and certainly quieter than my family’s house. “I think Hoseok’s coming up the gates. I’m gonna go grab him, can you pull Yoongi up on video while I go get him?” Namjoon tossed me his phone before pulling on a cardigan and briskly stepped out of his flat. “Sure, no problem Joon, I’m not intimidated at all,” I muttered, staring down at the phone screen with Yoongi’s contact already pulled up. With a deep breath, I closed my eyes and hit the video call. “Fucking fuck,” Yoongi’s first words resounded throughout the room as the video call remained black. There was some fumbling on his end before a dim light clicked on and I was faced with Yoongi in a big black hoodie, on the other side of the room to turn the lamp on. “Fucker, you knew I was on last night. I didn’t read your text until now.” “Uh, hey Yoongi,” I smiled politely, waiting for him to sit back down towards the front of the screen. “Namjoon told me to call you. He’s getting Hoseok right now.” “Oh shit…Y/N, hey,” Yoongi’s face slowly settled into a small frown as he tilted his head uncomfortably, rubbing at his neck. “They’ll be back soon,” I chuckled, feeling embarrassed for some reason, as if I were the one getting caught cursing like a sailor. Yoongi returned a small half smile, pulling on the hood of his hoodie further down his head. “Sorry I couldn’t make it,” he let out quietly. I shook my head, resting Namjoon’s phone against a pile of books on his coffee table. “Not at all…You were on last night.” I smiled, seeing his own lips stretch wider just a millimeter more. I had no clue what “on” even meant but it sounded important enough. This was just a silly class project anyways (that was 50% of our grade, but that was just a smaller detail). “Yeah,” he chuckled, breaking into a bigger grin now. I felt myself leaning in, as if that would make his lighting any less dim. “And that fucker knows I wouldn’t check my texts until now.” “Who you calling a fucker?” Namjoon called out as he and Hoseok entered the room. Yoongi broke out into a bright smile, his pink gums on display as his eyes curled into crescents. “You, you asshole.” And if it weren’t for Namjoon grabbing his phone back and Hoseok coming to greet me I think I would have been permanently star struck. Not only did Yoongi just smile, but that might have been the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. (Which is saying a lot as I’ve witnessed a smile from the sunshine, Hoseok, himself.) “So this is the research I’ve done so far,” Namjoon interrupted my thoughts. “I forwarded the file to everyone’s email already.” I chuckled, opening my laptop to pull up the file, though my eyes continued to flicker back to Yoongi who was now in Hoseok’s hands. His face remained blank as he stared into the screen of the phone, his chin resting in his palms. Between a screen, he didn’t seem so scary anymore. “So I think it just makes sense for you and Yoongi to work together more,” Namjoon finished, breaking me out of my thoughts. I glanced at the screen to see Yoongi nodding half heartedly, a crooked smile on his face. “You two can figure out how you want to do it.” “I can text you later to set up a meeting,” I added. He continued to nod, his crooked smile soon depleting into a tired stare. “Alright Yoongi, you can go back to bed now,” Namjoon smiled. “Wow, he’s beat his record today!” Hoseok cheered, clapping towards the phone. Yoongi answered with the roll of his eyes though he broke out into another gummy smile. “Later,” was all he said before his screen went black. “Beat his record?” I asked as the two guys chuckled amongst themselves. “Yeah, normally Yoongi just shuts the phone off ten minutes in.” “Or he just falls back asleep,” Hoseok laughed. “I’m surprised actually. I didn’t even expect him to answer since he was on last night. I already prepared a summary for him in advance,” Namjoon grinned, showing us a file on his screen. “So, is he always that quiet too?” I wondered aloud. “Only when he’s tired,” Hoseok explained. “Which is pretty much always,” Namjoon joked. “But he laughs around you two. For a while I thought Yoongi wasn’t capable of smiling,” I admitted, causing the boys to laugh. “For a while, huh?” Namjoon lifted a brow. Hoseok smirked, catching on quickly. “Aw, does Y/N have a crush on our Yoongles?” “W-what? No, I was just—” “It’s okay, Y/N, we’re just teasing,” Namjoon interrupted, saving me from what probably would have been a mess of an excuse. “But Yoongi could use a girl like you,” Hoseok chuckled, nudging me playfully with his elbow. “Maybe he’d be less grouchy.” “Yeah, if you’re into Yoongi,” Namjoon added, “we’ll be totally down to set you two up.” “Yeah, you two would match really well. You’re both creative!” I smiled, shaking my head at their teasing. “Let’s see how much I like him after this project is over.” Namjoon and Hoseok exchanged looks before turning back to their laptops. “Yoongi can stay single.” - “It’s…nice. I like the use of color in your piece.” I stared at Jenny as she gestured loosely at my canvas as the other members of my cohort nodded along. “I think your strokes could be more defined.” I took in a deep breath, looking back at my midterm painting, blatantly titled “Fog” and the muted colors across the canvas. “Anything else?” Our professor asked. “Overall, I think it’s a pretty piece.” “Alright, since Y/N was our last peer review we’re done for the day. Keep working on your project for next week.” Jenny sighed, stretching her arms across the table as we all proceeded to put away our supplies. “Man, I’m so glad this week is over!” “I know, I just want to drink the weekend away,” Krystal sighed, plopping herself on Jenny’s table. “Do you guys want to hit the club after this?” Jenny asked, sitting up with renewed energy. “Oh my gosh, yes! Let’s!” Rose squealed, swinging her paint brushes in the air. Johnny turned to me with a smile. “Let’s all go together! Y/N, you too!” And normally I would have insisted they go without me. My cohort and I never truly clicked and I knew they were just inviting me out of politeness. But the truth was, it really had been a long week. Part of it was the fact that I had pulled an all-nighter to get my midterm piece ready for the review and yet the only feedback I got was essentially, that it was “nice”. I could use a glass of whiskey right about now. But honestly, would I go to the club by myself ever? The answer was no. And so despite my better judgement, I smiled at Johnny and nodded along. We arrived to a club I had never been to before. It didn’t appear like anything more than any other brick building in the city, but once we were inside the dark place, lit with neon lights, the music rumbled thick in the air. The base was so strong, I could feel the vibration on my skin with each beat drop. As my cohort left for the dance floor, I shrugged my shoulders and made my way to the bar. Relieved of any other forced interaction with my cohort, I was now free to drink to my heart’s content while listening to good music. I guess it was a good idea to tag along after all. “On your own?” The bartender shouted my way. I smiled handing him my card along with a hefty bill. “I’d like my glass filled at all times tonight.” He laughed, pocketing the bill and sliding my credit card through. “You got it. How do you want it?” “Jack Daniel’s, straight.” With a wink and a fresh cup of whiskey, my bartender left to serve others and I was left by myself again. But it was nice to sip on the dark, bitter taste of whiskey while listening to music, which by the way, was great. Turning around to the dance floor, my eyes landed on Johnny and Jenny getting a little too friendly on the dance floor, but soon my eyes glazed over and fell on the DJ. He was slouched over his turntables, black hoodie over his head. It reminded me of Yoongi. He was always slouching. He also always had his hoodie over him. Such a shame though. It wasn’t like he even had the kind of face that needed hiding. I smiled to myself as Namjoon’s and Hoseok’s teasing replayed in my head. Maybe I did have a slight interest in Yoongi. If only he weren’t so scary. Shrugging my shoulders, I turned back around and continued to enjoy my drink, satisfied when the bartender reached his arm over to refill my glass each time. After a while I found myself giggling. “You’re really good at this,” I mused when he did it again before I could even lift my glass for his attention. He smiled, blowing at the whiskey bottle as if it were a gun barrel. “You could call it a sort of intuition.” “Hey there beautiful,” a voice whispered way too close to my ear. The smile left my face as I turned to my right. Though it took a few blinks before my eyes could focus, I could already tell it was going to be a sleazy guy. That was the downfall of going to a club. I looked over my shoulder before turning back to him. “Where?” I could hear my bartender scoffing from the corner. “You, of course,” he smiled, unfazed by my joke. “You look like you could use some company.” “Do I?” I deadpanned. “You want to come to my place?” he continued, completely undeterred by my answers. I had to give it to him, at least he was tenacious. I chuckled before downing the rest of my glass. “Listen—” “How about I get you a drink then?” he interrupted. “That’s alright, I’ve already got her covered,” my bartender intervened, pouring me another helping of whiskey. I giggled when he sent me a wink. The man beside me sighed before getting up from his seat, “It’s too late in the night for this.” I laughed when he finally slipped away, downing my glass again. “You are really great at your job!” He shrugged, smiling humbly. “But if you don’t mind me asking, why are you alone? I saw you come in with friends.” It was my turn to shrug my shoulders this time. “I wouldn’t really call them my friends.” “I see,” he nodded understandingly. “So you’re by yourself? Do you need me to call you a cab?” I chuckled, shaking my head. “I’m a big girl. I can get home by myself just fine. Look!” I jumped off my seat to show him just how fine I really was only to feel the ground get pulled from right under my feet. “Woah there,” a voice grumbled from behind me as firm arms came around my waist, holding me upright. “Y/N?” “That’s not my fault! The floor was just slippery!” I yelled towards the bartender who was laughing wholeheartedly now. “You know her, Yoongi?” my bartender asked, addressing the man behind me. “Yoongi?” I turned around in the man’s arms only to be faced with a blurry but very Yoongi, unamused face. I giggled, relaxing into his arms now. “Hey Yoongi!” “Well it looks like she knows you. Is your shift already over?” Yoongi sighed, helping me back onto my seat. “Yeah, it’s finally over. Why’d you give her so much to drink, Jimin?” “Hey, when a cute girl hands me her card and asks for bottomless whiskey, I can only oblige. I’m a gentleman, Yoongi.” “Gentleman my ass,” Yoongi scoffed, grabbing my glass of whiskey and taking a gulp. “You just wanted to take her home for yourself.” Jimin smirked, pouring more whiskey into my glass for Yoongi. “Well, if it were to happen like that, I wouldn’t have been opposed. But clearly, she’s off limits.” I frowned. “Hey! That’s my whiskey!” Yoongi chuckled dryly, finishing off the glass before flipping it over. “You’re drunk, Y/N. And no, she’s not ‘off limits’. It’s not like she’s a patch of grass.” I sighed, placing my head on the counter in an attempt to keep the room from spinning. “Can you guys not talk about me like I’m not here, please?” “We will when you finish saying your abc’s backwards,” Yoongi answered back curtly. “C, B, A!” “She’s got you there,” Jimin chuckled. “Okay, smart one, now tell me your address,” Yoongi continued though his tone seemed lighter. “Okay,” I agreed, lifting my head off the counter. I stared at Yoongi, waiting for his clones to disappear. “Say please first.” He sighed. “You can go trip in a ditch, I don’t really care.”
“Wow, rude!” I whined, pointing my finger into his arm. “And I was even telling Mr. Bartender here all about you! And now you’ll never know!” “She was talking about me?” “Don’t look so happy Yoongi. She was enjoying your DJing though.” “Urgh, Mr. Bartender!” I pouted. He only answered with a hearty laugh. “Anyways, let’s get you home Y/N. It’s getting late and I wanna go home,” Yoongi grumbled, getting up from his seat. “No thanks, I already made plans to trip in a ditch.” Yoongi broke out into a smile at this, his pink gums peeking out. “Aww that’s nice,” I cooed, reaching closer to cup his cheek though my hand landed on his shoulder. “What is?” he grumbled, helping me out of my chair. “Your smile,” I answered, leaning my weight on his body. I let my head rest on his chest, indulging in the clean scent of his laundry detergent that amazingly managed to last in a crowded, sweaty place like this club. “I like your smile.” “That makes two of us.” “Shut up Jimin,” Yoongi groaned as warm arms came back around my waist. “Come on, let’s go. Can you walk on your own, Y/N?” I yawned, lifting my head off of him. “Hmm, I can. Do I want to though?” Yoongi rolled his eyes making me laugh. “Okay okay, I’ll use the two legs my mother birthed me,” I relented, letting go of his shoulder, though his warm touched remained on the small of my back. “Have fun you two!” Jimin cheered. “Alright,” Yoongi sighed once we were outside the club. “Okay,” I giggled, taking in the cool air of the night. I bit my lip, trying to contain my own laughter as I looked back at Yoongi. “My legs are jelly.” “I can see that,” he answered dully though the smile on his lips said something else. “Come here, let’s get you down these steps. My apartment is five minutes away.” I smiled as he took my hands in his before leading me down the steps and onto the sidewalk. “So that’s what ‘on’ meant.” “What?” “You’re a cool DJ!” I could feel Yoongi chuckle against me. “Thanks I guess.” “Is that why you’re always tired?” Yoongi huffed, pulling me closer to him as we entered a new building. “I’m tired because life is tiring.” I grinned, holding onto his hands tightly as we walked up a flight of stairs. “Whiskey helps though!” He chuckled. “You’re right about that one.” “Next time,” I muttered as Yoongi bent down to pull off my heels. “I’ll treat you to some whiskey next time.” In the dimly lit entrance way I felt a weight over my head and then Yoongi let out a sigh. “How about you work on getting sober first.” I pouted as Yoongi walked away, flipping a switch on his way and lighting the rest of the room. “Sober’s not as fun though.” He smiled, handing me a bottle of water. “True, but neither are hangovers. Drink up.” I giggled, taking a sip before offering him my hand again. He chuckled before taking my hand and leading me into a bedroom. And as I giggled my way into bed, the room went dark and I was fast asleep. I woke up with cotton mouth and a sore throat. With a groan, I forced my eyes open. The room was bare, aside from the nightstand next to me with a bottle of water and an old alarm clock. I sighed, seeing the red lights read 11AM. And if it weren’t for the fact I was in a strange room, I would have curled back in bed. Unfortunately, the responsible side of me won over this time and I forced myself out of bed. When I opened the door I was met with Yoongi curled up on his couch, sound asleep with his phone still in his hand. I bit at my lip, the guilt finally seeping through. I really hadn’t meant to get so drunk last night…or well, I did, but I hadn’t meant for Yoongi to be the one to care for me. I could usually find my way home no matter how shitfaced I got. As if sensing my presence, Yoongi stirred awake, peeking on eye open before rising at the sight of me. “Morning,” I spoke up softly. “I’m really sorry, Yoongi.” He shrugged his shoulders, rubbing at his eyes. “If I get back pain later, I’ll just sue you.” I smiled at his nonchalance. “And thanks. For not leaving me in a ditch even though I probably annoyed you all night.” His lips moved ever so slightly as he looked down to check his phone. “Your phone is charging on the kitchen counter.” He pointed his thumb behind him without looking. My eyes lingered on his profile for a moment longer before I finally headed towards his open kitchen where my phone was, indeed, charging. As I lifted my phone off the counter, I couldn’t help the smile growing on my face. Min Yoongi scares most people. Up until now, he was the scariest person I knew. But now, instead of the nervous tick of my heart beating against my chest, I felt something I could only describe as warmth. Was I embarrassed about my behavior last night? Absolutely. But did I regret it? It was a strange thing, but no, I didn’t. If last night didn’t happen I wouldn’t have realized how sweet Yoongi actually was. - “Okay, so I sent the Powerpoint to everyone last night. I’m filling the first few slides and then Hobi’s section is after that. I looked over your designs, Y/N, and I think they’re great. I think by next week we can finish the filming. From there, you and Yoongi can start editing.” My eyes trailed from Namjoon whose nose was buried in his own notes, to Hoseok who was busy nodding with a big, approving smile on his face. I cleared my throat. “Uh, that’s great and all…but are we going to just ignore the fact that Yoongi’s been missing from class for the past two weeks?” Hoseok laughed, “Don’t worry, Y/N, he’ll eventually show up.” “Yeah,” Namjoon added. “He always does this. He’ll go MIA for a couple weeks, but he always comes back.” “Oh,” I nodded, collecting my things. “Okay.” And the two went on like normal but I couldn’t get the worry out of my head. It wasn’t just about the grade. I could care less about this class. But why would someone go missing all of sudden when everything seemed so normal before? And why were his friends so nonchalant about him going missing? “Y/N?” “Huh?” “We were just talking about hanging out later with some of our other friends. You want to join us?” Namjoon smiled. “We’re getting fried chicken!” Hoseok cheered. I chuckled at his enthusiasm. “Maybe another time guys.” “Oh? Plans?” Namjoon grinned teasingly. I chuckled, glancing down at my phone for any new texts. I shrugged. “Maybe, something like that.” Yeah. Something like that. I stared at my phone for probably the hundredth time, hoping to get a text of some sort as I stood outside of an apartment building with a box full of fried chicken in one arm and a six pack of beer in the other. Me: Hey Yoongi… [2:13PM] Is everything okay? [2:15PM] You’ve just been missing a few classes so I was wondering… [3:34PM] are you free this evening? can I come over? [4:08PM] But of course, there was no reply. I don’t know why I was expecting one. If he wasn’t responding to his friends, why would he be responding to me? Which was why I was outside his door now. Honestly, 99.999999% of my body and mind was telling me I was crazy. That he was just tired of people and my face was probably the last thing he wanted to see. But listen. The 0.000001% was screaming in my head, what if this time around things were different? What if Joon and Hoseok were wrong? What if he hurt himself and needed to be checked on? And so with that in mind, I rang his doorbell, praying in my heart he wasn’t home. Okay, not really praying for him to not be home. Of course I wanted to know that he was at least safe and sound. That’s the whole reason I was here. So when a minute passed and no one came to the door, a chill of anxiety ran down my spine and I rang the doorbell five more times. Relief washed over quickly once the door opened though. Yoongi frowned, opening his door just a crack. He looked at me up and down with tired eyes and I could only smile back sheepishly. I raised the box of food up. “Chicken and beer?” Yoongi let out a very audible sigh before walking away from the door. I smiled, taking the sliver of opening as an invitation in. I chuckled, following quickly behind. Yoongi was dressed casually in an oversized white t-shirt and black sweats. It was strange not seeing him in a hoodie. And the back of his head showed clear signs of bed hair. “Did you just wake up Yoongi?” I asked, setting the food down on his living room floor. “Says the girl that woke me up,” he grumbled under his breath. But despite his frown, he came back from the kitchen with plates and cups. I smiled, opening the box of chicken and popping open a can of beer. I handed it to Yoongi. “Figured I should share good food, you know? And I just happened to be near your apartment.” He rolled his eyes, plopping himself onto the floor beside me. “You have good memory for a drunk.” I grinned, raising my can to his. “I drink to remember, not to forget.” “That doesn’t sound very fun,” he mumbled, clinking his can with mines. I laughed, placing a piece of chicken on his plate before grabbing a drumstick. “I’m sorry I woke you up Yoongi. I was worried though.” He bit into his chicken quietly before shrugging. “It’s alright, it was just another depression nap. I had to wake up soon anyways.” “You don’t have to go to work tonight, do you?” When he shook his head, I smiled in relief. “Good, I can’t finish all this food by myself,” I chuckled. His lips curved ever so slightly before he covered it with the sip of his beer. He let out another sigh. “I can’t even remember the last time I had a full meal like this.” I frowned at his words before placing more chicken on his plate. “Here, have some more. Next time I’ll bring some healthier food. But this is good food for the soul.” I laughed at my own words. Yoongi only looked at me with a raised brow. “Next time?” I smiled cheekily, nodding my head. “Well yeah, if you keep ignoring others, we’re bound to worry. I know we aren’t very close…and I’m not usually someone that would stick my nose in other people’s business…” I shrugged, chuckling out of embarrassment. “But I don’t know, I just wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t come check on you.” He nodded his head quietly, continuing to eat as I spoke. “I…” I bit at my lips cautiously as he continued to eat without ever looking up. “This might sound weird since we don’t know each other much but well…I guess I could say the same about you. You didn’t really know me but you helped me when I was drunk.” “But not drunk enough to forget the directions to my house,” Yoongi deadpanned, making me break out into a smile. “But you’re eating my chicken now, so quit complaining,” I countered. I grinned seeing him break out into a smile. “Anyways I just wanted to say that you’ll make people worried if you just disappear like this. It would be helpful if you could at least send a text.” “Okay, okay, I get it,” Yoongi finally huffed, sticking a wing into my mouth. “Now eat your chicken before I finish it all!” I giggled, chewing obligingly. After cleaning away all the chicken scraps, we sipped at our beers slowly. I looked at Yoongi, his eyes still drooping with exhaustion. At least there was more color in his face. I wondered if that was the beer working its way into his system. “What?” Yoongi looked me. I shrugged, swirling my beer as if I hadn’t just been staring at his face. “Nothing.” “You’re a real weirdo, Y/N.” I chuckled, turning to him again. “It’s your fault, you let me in.” “Only because of your good taste in alcohol,” Yoongi smiled softly. I smiled, scooting closer. “Next time, I really will treat you to whiskey!” He chuckled, shaking his head. “Your memory is really uncanny.” I chugged the rest of my beer before setting it down. “But seriously, if you ever need help with anything, like assignments, or if you just want to talk, I’ve got you—with whiskey or whatever kind of beverage you want. I mean it. I supervise one of the campus art studios but no one ever comes so I’m always on my own. So if you ever find yourself wanting to escape or you just want some quiet company, I’m here.” Yoongi nodded quietly before putting his can down too. “I have a studio too. In my apartment.” “You do?” I smiled along, knowing very well he had just changed the subject. Yoongi got up and I followed along as he led me to one of the back rooms in his apartment. Sure enough, there was a small office filled with music and recording equipment. “So that’s why Namjoon asked you to make the jingle,” I realized. Yoongi scoffed, taking a seat at the desk and opening his laptop. “That fucker was just pulling my leg.” I stood next to him, bending over to look at the files on his screen. “Can I hear something?” Yoongi rubbed at the back of his neck before scrolling down his list of files. “I don’t know…here, this is one of the jingles I made.” He clicked on the file, adjusting his sound before settling in his seat, his head resting on his hands with a look of boredom. But I could only open my mouth in silent awe as the beat resounded throughout the room. “Yoongi,” I whispered as the music came to an end. “That sounds too good to be wasted on a dumb school project.” He laughed, shaking his head. “It’s really not. I’ll work on it more.” I looked at him, smiling. “If we don’t get an A with this, I’m sending our professor to get his ears checked.” Yoongi only smiled to himself shyly. “Well, I guess I’ll leave you to work then,” I finally spoke up after a moment of silence. “Let’s meet again and discuss the project properly then.” Yoongi nodded before getting up from his seat. “Next time don’t come knocking on my door at weird hours.” “6PM is not a weird hour Yoongi,” I argued. I grinned mischievously at him. “What if I bring whiskey with me next time?” He rolled his eyes with a small smile on his lips. And with that I was on my way back to my own apartment. Yoongi: thx Y/N [9:40PM] for food and waking me to get work done [9:43PM] ur a good weirdo [9:55PM] - I sat in the quiet of my studio, staring at my midterm painting for what seemed like the thousandth hour. Yet again, no one was using this studio, which I had figured when I took on the job. Everyone else preferred to use the studio that Jenny used. Not that it was the bad thing, I liked that I had a whole studio to myself. “You’ve been staring at that for a long time.” I jerked around to see Yoongi leaning on the door frame. He gave me a small smile before lifting his hand, revealing a bottle of Jack Daniel’s. I laughed. “Perfect.” “Courtesy of Jimin,” Yoongi added before taking a seat beside me. I chuckled, taking the bottle into my own hands. “Tell Mr. Bartender thanks then.” I got up to get mugs out of the cabinets. I smiled, handing Yoongi a mug. “Sunshine Club,” Yoongi read the cup aloud. “Sounds just like me.” I chuckled, pouring a generous amount into our mugs. “You mean a cup full of whiskey? Yes, it does.” “This is nice,” Yoongi commented, gesturing to my painting. I sighed at the sound of nice again. Yoongi sipped at his whiskey. “In a, you know, sucky, feels like shit kinda nice.” I broke out into a laugh. “Yeah? How so?” His eyes lingered on the canvas. “It feels confusing, like something is just beyond the blur, but I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or a scary thing. And that’s fucking anxiety-inducing,” he chuckled, taking another sip. “But fuck, that’s kinda comforting too…to think someone else is thinking the same thing as me.” I smiled. “Can you join the fine art’s department, Yoongi?” “Not enjoying yourself here?” I shrugged, finishing my mug of whiskey. He poured me more quietly. I smiled, waiting for his eyes to meet mine. “It’s better now that you’ve come.” A smile flashed across his face as he rubbed at his neck shyly. “Anyways, what’s it called?” I sighed, looking back at my own painting. “Fog.” “Hmm, fitting.” A quietness settled around us as we stared at my canvas, lost in our own thoughts. “How’s your music coming along?” I finally asked, breaking the silence. He hummed, shrugging his shoulders. “It’s going and then it’s not. It cycles over and over.” “It was already so good when I heard it last,” I smiled softly. “I’m glad you let me hear some of it.” “Glad?” “Yeah,” I chuckled. “So when you become famous, I can tell everyone I heard your music first.” He scoffed, rolling his eyes, a lopsided smile stamped over his face again. “Whatever.” “And I’m glad,” I added, “because the same way you described my painting is the same way I feel about your music. It’s comforting. Plus, as a fellow artist, I know how scary it is to share your work. Thanks for trusting me.” There was another silence before Yoongi took my empty mug and walked over to the sink. “Thanks,” he spoke softly, his back to me, “for coming to me that day. No one’s ever done that…checking on me to see if I’m okay. I didn’t think I needed it until, well, until you showed me I did.” Most people think Min Yoongi is scary. People see the scowl on his face and look away too quickly. Now seeing the small of his back, bent over the studio sink, I know now Min Yoongi is not scary. He’s only human. And people are so busy looking away, they missed the sweet smile that graces his lips and the way his shoulders squeeze together, shivering softly when he laughs. And if I had been one of those people, I would have missed the tired look in his eyes, the heavy bags that carried the weight of his dreams and worries. I’m glad I wasn’t. “What?” Yoongi glared my way as he turned around to see me staring at him. “Stop looking at me like that.” I shook my head, smiling. “No Yoongi, I’m glad I came that day too. Now you’ll always know where to find me, and I’ll know where to find you. We’ve got each other.” - Thanks for reading! [Masterlist] Prequel to All Clear

I’ve done it. Presenting, the beach cafe:
Same principle as the beach house, these are made out of two container vans.
Okay first floor first:
Left to right:
Outdoor CR with a black door and an awning; also has a shower for washing off sand. This CR is walled and outside of the container van.
Full kitchen with a window and a back door to take out kitchen trash without going through the entrance; I think I need to add more cabinets for storage.
Cashier/entrance with a huge glass door and a side table for the pastries. There is also a speaker for that cafe ambiance.
Private room for more private meetings. Has probably a 5 ft table with stools. Also where coffee and booze are stored, hence a lot of hanging cabinets.
Finally, the outdoor space. I added 6 tables with 4 chairs each. Two of the chairs are fancy and probably lined with faux leather just like other cafes. Lamps decorate the entrance of the cafe so that will provide the light for the outdoor space. There are also lamps on both corners of the fence. Lastly, for shade but not to much, a brown polycarbonate awning. It will also have light fixtures on it.
For the second floor:
A bathroom then a bedroom. A floating shelf above the bed with two lamps.
A full sized bed or a queen bed if the space permits. Then a small dresser on the foot of the bed for bed sheets and pillow cases.
A desk and a chair. A space for working.
A dresser for all the clothes.
A wall mounted TV for entertainment.
A door and a ladder to get down to the café.
~~~
What I’ve noticed on my designs are they’re so utilitarian. It’s ordinary. It’s nothing special. But it makes me happy thinking about it and designing it. I also had a sign for the cafe - I did it a year ago I think. Not sure where to put it though. Probably remove some of the lamps and put in a neon sign. Design it to be more instagrammable for the customers. The only downside is that the space has no parking. I can’t entertain rich people and those are the customers I need.
In the early light of a May dawn this is what the living room of my apartment looks like: Over the white marble and granite gas-log fireplace hangs an original David Onica. It’s a six-foot-by-four-foot portrait of a naked woman, mostly done in muted grays and olives, sitting on a chaise longue watching MTV, the backdrop a Martian landscape, a gleaming mauve desert scattered with dead, gutted fish, smashed plates rising like a sunburst above the woman’s yellow head, and the whole thing is framed in black aluminum steel. The painting overlooks a long white down-filled sofa and a thirty-inch digital TV set from Toshiba; it’s a high-contrast highly defined model plus it has a four-corner video stand with a high-tech tube combination from NEC with a picture-in-picture digital effects system (plus freeze-frame); the audio includes built-in MTS and a five-watt-per-channel on-board amp. A Toshiba VCR sits in a glass case beneath the TV set; it’s a super-high-band Beta unit and has built-in editing function including a character generator with eight-page memory, a high-band record and playback, and three-week, eight-event timer. A hurricane halogen lamp is placed in each corner of the living room. Thin white Venetian blinds cover all eight floor-to-ceiling windows. A glass-top coffee table with oak legs by Turchin sits in front of the sofa, with Steuben glass animals placed strategically around expensive crystal ashtrays from Fortunoff, though I don’t smoke. Next to the Wurlitzer jukebox is a black ebony Baldwin concert grand piano. A polished white oak floor runs throughout the apartment. On the other side of the room, next to a desk and a magazine rack by Gio Ponti, is a complete stereo system (CD player, tape deck, tuner, amplifier) by Sansui with six-foot Duntech Sovereign 2001 speakers in Brazilian rosewood. A down-filled futon lies on an oakwood frame in the center of the bedroom. Against the wall is a Panasonic thirty-one-inch set with a direct-view screen and stereo sound and beneath it in a glass case is a Toshiba VCR. I’m not sure if the time on the Sony digital alarm clock is correct so I have to sit up then look down at the time flashing on and off on the VCR, then pick up the Ettore Sottsass push-button phone that rests on the steel and glass nightstand next to the bed and dial the time number. A cream leather, steel and wood chair designed by Eric Marcus is in one corner of the room, a molded plywood chair in the other. A black-dotted beige and white Maud Sienna carpet covers most of the floor. One wall is hidden by four chests of immense bleached mahogany drawers. In bed I’m wearing Ralph Lauren silk pajamas and when I get up I slip on a paisley ancient madder robe and walk to the bathroom. I urinate while trying to make out the puffiness of my reflection in the glass that encases a baseball poster hung above the toilet. After I change into Ralph Lauren monogrammed boxer shorts and a Fair Isle sweater and slide into silk polka-dot Enrico Hidolin slippers I tie a plastic ice pack around my face and commence with the morning’s stretching exercises. Afterwards I stand in front of a chrome and acrylic Washmobile bathroom sink—with soap dish, cup holder, and railings that serve as towel bars, which I bought at Hastings Tile to use while the marble sinks I ordered from Finland are being sanded—and stare at my reflection with the ice pack still on. I pour some Plax antiplaque formula into a stainless-steel tumbler and swish it around my mouth for thirty seconds. Then I squeeze Rembrandt onto a faux-tortoise-shell toothbrush and start brushing my teeth (too hung over to floss properly—but maybe I flossed before bed last night?) and rinse with Listerine. Then I inspect my hands and use a nailbrush. I take the ice-pack mask off and use a deep-pore cleanser lotion, then an herb-mint facial masque which I leave on for ten minutes while I check my toenails. Then I use the Probright tooth polisher and next the Interplak tooth polisher (this in addition to the toothbrush) which has a speed of 4200 rpm and reverses direction forty-six times per second; the larger tufts clean between teeth and massage the gums while the short ones scrub the tooth surfaces. I rinse again, with Cepacol. I wash the facial massage off with a spearmint face scrub. The shower has a universal all-directional shower head that adjusts within a thirty-inch vertical range. It’s made from Australian gold-black brass and covered with a white enamel finish. In the shower I use first a water-activated gel cleanser, then a honey-almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Vidal Sassoon shampoo is especially good at getting rid of the coating of dried perspiration, salts, oils, airborne pollutants and dirt that can weigh down hair and flatten it to the scalp which can make you look older. The conditioner is also good—silicone technology permits conditioning benefits without weighing down the hair which can also make you look older. On weekends or before a date I prefer to use the Greune Natural Revitalizing Shampoo, the conditioner and the Nutrient Complex. These are formulas that contain D-panthenol, a vitamin-B-complex factor; polysorbate 80, a cleansing agent for the scalp; and natural herbs. Over the weekend I plan to go to Bloomingdale’s or Bergdorf’s and on Evelyn’s advice pick up a Foltene European Supplement and Shampoo for thinning hair which contains complex carbohydrates that penetrate the hair shafts for improved strength and shine. Also the Vivagen Hair Enrichment Treatment, a new Redken product that prevents mineral deposits and prolongs the life cycle of hair. Luis Carruthers recommended the Aramis Nutriplexx system, a nutrient complex that helps increase circulation. Once out of the shower and toweled dry I put the Ralph Lauren boxers back on and before applying the Mousse A Raiser, a shaving cream by Pour Hommes, I press a hot towel against my face for two minutes to soften abrasive beard hair. Then I always slather on a moisturizer (to my taste, Clinique) and let it soak in for a minute. You can rinse it off or keep it on and apply a shaving cream over it—preferably with a brush, which softens the beard as it lifts the whiskers—which I’ve found makes removing the hair easier. It also helps prevent water from evaporating and reduces friction between your skin and the blade. Always wet the razor with warm water before shaving and shave in the direction the beard grows, pressing gently on the skin. Leave the sideburns and chin for last, since these whiskers are tougher and need more time to soften. Rinse the razor and shake off any excess water before starting. Afterwards splash cool water on the face to remove any trace of lather. You should use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol. Never use cologne on your face, since the high alcohol content dries your face out and makes you look older. One should use an alcohol-free antibacterial toner with a water-moistened cotton ball to normalize the skin. Applying a moisturizer is the final step. Splash on water before applying an emollient lotion to soften the skin and seal in the moisture. Next apply Gel Appaisant, also made by Pour Hommes, which is an excellent, soothing skin lotion. If the face seems dry and flaky—which makes it look dull and older—use a clarifying lotion that removes flakes and uncovers fine skin (it can also make your tan look darker). Then apply an anti-aging eye balm (Baume Des Yeux) followed by a final moisturizing “protective” lotion. A scalp-programming lotion is used after I towel my hair dry. I also lightly blow-dry the hair to give it body and control (but without stickiness) and then add more of the lotion, shaping it with a Kent natural-bristle brush, and finally slick it back with a wide-tooth comb. I pull the Fair Isle sweater back on and reslip my feet into the polka-dot silk slippers, then head into the living room and put the new Talking Heads in the CD player, but it starts to digitally skip so I take it out and put in a CD laser lens cleaner. The laser lens is very sensitive, and subject to interference from dust or dirt or smoke or pollutants or moisture, and a dirty one can inaccurately read CDs, making for false starts, inaudible passages, digital skipping, speed changes and general distortion; the lens cleaner has a cleaning brush that automatically aligns with the lens then the disk spins to remove residue and particles. When I put the Talking Heads CD back in it plays smoothly. I retrieve the copy of USA Today that lies in front of my door in the hallway and bring it with me into the kitchen where I take two Advil, a multivitamin and a potassium tablet, washing them down with a large bottle of Evian water since the maid, an elderly Chinese woman, forgot to turn the dishwasher on when she left yesterday, and then I have to pour the grapefruit-lemon juice into a St. Remy wineglass I got from Baccarat. I check the neon clock that hangs over the refrigerator to make sure I have enough time to eat breakfast unhurriedly. Standing at the island in the kitchen I eat kiwifruit and a sliced Japanese apple-pear (they cost four dollars each at Gristede’s) out of aluminum storage boxes that were designed in West Germany. I take a bran muffin, a decaffeinated herbal tea bag and a box of oat-bran cereal from one of the large glass-front cabinets that make up most of an entire wall in the kitchen; complete with stainless-steel shelves and sandblasted wire glass, it is framed in a metallic dark gray-blue. I eat half of the bran muffin after it’s been microwaved and lightly covered with a small helping of apple butter. A bowl of oat-bran cereal with wheat germ and soy milk follows; another bottle of Evian water and a small cup of decaf tea after that. Next to the Panasonic bread baker and the Salton Pop-Up coffee maker is the Cremina sterling silver espresso maker (which is, oddly, still warm) that I got at Hammacher Schlemmer (the thermal-insulated stainless-steel espresso cup and the saucer and spoon are sitting by the sink, stained) and the Sharp Model R-1810A Carousel II microwave oven with revolving turntable which I use when I heat up the other half of the bran muffin. Next to the Salton Sonata toaster and the Cuisinart Little Pro food processor and the Acme Supreme Juicerator and the Cordially Yours liqueur maker stands the heavy-gauge stainless-steel two-and-one-half-quart teakettle, which whistles “Tea for Two” when the water is boiling, and with it I make another small cup of the decaffeinated apple-cinnamon tea. For what seems like a long time I stare at the Black & Decker Handy Knife that lies on the counter next to the sink, plugged into the wall: it’s a slicer/peeler with several attachments, a serrated blade, a scalloped blade and a rechargeable handle. The suit I wear today is from Alan Flusser. It’s an eighties drape suit, which is an updated version of the thirties style. The favored version has extended natural shoulders, a full chest and a bladed back. The soft-rolled lapels should be about four inches wide with the peak finishing three quarters of the way across the shoulders. Properly used on double-breasted suits, peaked lapels are considered more elegant than notched ones. Low-slung pockets have a flapped double-besom design—above the flap there’s a slit trimmed on either side with a flat narrow strip of cloth. Four buttons form a low-slung square; above it, about where the lapels cross, there are two more buttons. The trousers are deeply pleated and cut full in order to continue the flow of the wide jacket. An extended waist is cut slightly higher in the front. Tabs make the suspenders fit well at the center back. The tie is a dotted silk design by Valentino Couture. The shoes are crocodile loafers by A. Testoni. While I’m dressing the TV is kept on to The Patty Winters Show. Today’s guests are women with multiple personalities. A nondescript overweight older woman is on the screen and Patty’s voice is heard asking, “Well, is it schizophrenia or what’s the deal? Tell us.” “No, oh no. Multiple personalities are not schizophrenics,” the woman says, shaking her head. “We are not dangerous.” “Well,” Patty starts, standing in the middle of the audience, microphone in hand. “Who were you last month?” “Last month it seemed to be mostly Polly,” the woman says. A cut to the audience—a housewife’s worried face; before she notices herself on the monitor, it cuts back to the multiple-personality woman. “Well,” Patty continues, “now who are you?” “Well …,” the woman begins tiredly, as if she was sick of being asked this question, as if she had answered it over and over again and still no one believed it. “Well, this month I’m … Lambchop. Mostly … Lambchop.” A long pause. The camera cuts to a close-up of a stunned housewife shaking her head, another housewife whispering something to her. The shoes I’m wearing are crocodile loafers by A. Testoni. Grabbing my raincoat out of the closet in the entranceway I find a Burberry scarf and matching coat with a whale embroidered on it (something a little kid might wear) and it’s covered with what looks like dried chocolate syrup crisscrossed over the front, darkening the lapels. I take the elevator downstairs to the lobby, rewinding my Rolex by gently shaking my wrist. I say good morning to the doorman, step outside and hail a cab, heading downtown toward Wall Street.
