Hey, let's talk about this scene and some comic stuff that gives a little insight into Miguel and why he has this attitude. You know, aside from what happened in the movie.

When Miguel was a child, his grades revealed that he was an extremely intelligent child, enough to be sent to the Alchemax School for Gifted Youngsters. It was a school so prestigious that the families of students were given a boost in their quality of life. Miguel's (step) father George of course lept at the chance to grab all the benefits and clout sending his favored son away to the school, not caring how he might feel about being taken from his family. And why would he? George cares about appearances and obedience, not the well being of his child.

Later when he was in the car with Tyler Stone, lead dickbag at Alchemax, Miguel told him that if he wasn't well behaved he would get smacked by his father in a heartbreakingly frank way.

And then this happens

Yup. Tyler, upon finding out that Miguel is abused by his stepdad, makes a veiled threat that if he doesn't stay in line at school, his family will lose all the nice perks that being related to a student there will get them and George will turn his abuse onto Miguel's mother and little brother. Tyler is Miguel's real father and wants to utilize Miguel's intelligence for his own gain, so this is the first of many actions he has taken to ensure he stays under his thumb.

So let's recap this.

As a child, Miguel was saddled with the burden of raising his family's sation in life by attending a private school, and was basically told that if he messed anything up then the consequences of George's violence against his family (and most likely himself when he got back home) would be his fault. From childhood Miguel has been taught that it's on him and him alone to prevent very bad things from happening. Miguel has felt like he's the only one who has been "Holding it all together" before he was old enough to drive, and has lived in fear of the consequences of his failure for just as long. Miguel is 35 in the movie, meaning this is a trauma he's been dealing with for over twenty years.

I see so many people come down on Miguel for being "arrogant" in thinking that he's so important that he would be the cause of something as catastrophic as an entire universe disintegrating, but it's not arrogance. It's a deeply ingrained belief he has had for most of his life that was started by Tyler Stone as a means of scaring him into obedience and exploiting his intelligence for his own gain. So yeah, until the movie continuity contradicts this part of Miguel's backstory, I think it's a very illuminating but of context for why Miguel acts the way he does.

when people start talking shit about Dana just being some whore slut who left Miguel for no reason I'm just gonna point to this part in the comics-

Like seriously, by no means am I saying what she did was okay, but you people make me feel like we read two different comics, Miguel, EVEN IF HE DIDN'T MEAN TOO, drove Dana away, also this wasn't even the first time he was violent against her

Like I KNOW he was "on drugs" but like still

AND EVEN AFTER THAT she still stuck by him she was willing to get rapture for him cause she knows the effects of it, like come on now,

Also she was TRYING to keep the relationship together but Miguel out right refused to talk to her or be honest with her

AND SHE LIKE GAVE HER LIFE TO SAVE XIAN

Like I know people are upset for her getting close with Tyler Stone, but you people gotta understand that he was clearly manipulating which she wasn't in the best place emotionally cause Miguel just wouldn't say anything and the last thing he did was call her stupid and threw a plant at her, and at that point she thought it was over.

Look you don't have to like Dana, or agree with the choices she made, you can dislike/hate her BUT DON'T FUCKING LIE ABOUT HER OR ACT LIKE SHE WASN'T GOING THREW SOME SHIT HERSELF,

like I get it bad writing and all that but have that same energy for Miguel, cause he CLEARLY wasn't perfect either.

am i like the ONLY person on earth who thinks Miguel is completely justified and is the only one with common sense? like Miles literally killed thousands of people by interrupting that canon event (that black hole swallowed tons of buildings in mumbattan) just to save 1 person.

and Gwen knew that would happen and just sort of? let him do it? and she was such a coward for not explaining it to him IMMEDIATELY,,, like of course, he would do something stupid like that if he doesn't understand the whole situation!!

and everyone is just like aww i don't wanna hurt miles' feelings. but like. they had no problem putting the pressure on him in the first movie (including gwen and peter B) when they felt he wasnt ready to be spiderman. they got on his ass then, but now that the stakes are higher they wont?? like you're gonna have to hurt his feelings if it means literally saving entire universes. multiverses even.

miguel personally experienced the loss of his family TWICE. all the fken spiderpeople know exactly what it feels like to watch the people you love die and not being able to do anything abou it. and miguel not only had it happen once, he CAUSED it to happen a second time and destroyed not only his family but the entire universe they lived in. he has seen firsthand what kind of damage that SELFISHNESS can cause--- he fucked up the canon and now millions of people are dead and gone forever. just because he wanted to have his cake and eat it too. "being spiderman is a sacrifice-- thats the job--" he understands that fate is inevitable. its simply the nature of being spiderman. and miles hasnt lost as much as they have so of course he doesnt want to lose it. i understand his motives too. but its extremely selfish to try and save one person if it WILL cause horrible consequences (not might!! WILL!!) of COURSE miguel is gonna go apeshit when some kid who thinks hes special and different from all the other spiderpeople comes along trying to prove a point that will cause so much damage. i think he finds it INCREDIBLY insulting because he suffered so fucking much in order to learn a horrible lesson-- and he wants to teach others that lesson so they dont make the exact same mistake and cause more damage-- but miles is just like "no i dont wanna" like. why would you want to learn things the hard way when someone else already learned the hard way FOR you. literally so disrespectful 😭 i think if i were in miguel's position i would fight just as hard and be just as pissed. end rant.

WHOSE idea was it to make punisher 2099. and why did his run get renewed in 2019. who cares enough about him. he's not even that different from frank. at least spider man and x men got a new cast of characters for their 2099 runs. punisher 2099 is literally just frank castle with a different name. it's morbidly funny to me that something like the raimiverse takes the idea of peter acting with the intent to kill and

a) negates there being an actual death,

and b) utilises this more to explore the idea of who deserves to live and die at the hands of another and perhaps most importantly, is it possible to even determine that and should someone have that power

and then you've just got 2099 Miguel out here having sadman moments in the rain like ah fuck i'm not sorry at all i let vulture fall, fuck that guy. <- struggling w the fact he's had enough character development to recognise the harm in this world for what it is and that he doesn't want to turn away from it anymore

I absolutely agree with this.

Miguel thinks he’s doing the right thing and I do agree on why he thinks this. And yes while him attacking Miles because of this is wrong remember: this is Miguel. The same guy who almost let MJ die in Edge of Time because the mission came first. The same guy who let Anya go into a world she was unfamiliar with in Dark Tomorrow because he didn’t want to become Spider-Man again. Miguel is a man who makes horrible decisions. And while I don’t agree with his decisions at all, I know deep down he’s not evil. He does care for people. He just doesn’t know how to show it.

Some of y'all be forgetting that Miguel genuinely thinks Miles is gonna kill everyone on Earth

Like yeah to us it's "This kid just wants to save his dad"

But to him it's legit "This kid is going to get billions of innocent people killed"

He's not evil. He's not a liar. He isn't intentionally trying to fuck with people or bend them into his will or make them hate Miles

He's a dude who killed A LOT of people on ACCIDENT, and now that he sees it happening in front of him again he's doing everything in his earthly power to stop it from happening again

Spider-Man 2099 was probably one of the biggest Spider-Man ever. Well, if you're not counting the robots and dinosaurs–Miguel O'Hara is abnormally large for a human. Half-Human.

Standing at a whopping six foot and nine inches, his bulky build didn't help with his intimidating aura and height. So yes, he was tall but also wide.

Which also meant that everyone, at least, most people were shorter than him.

You could tell that it even became a problem. While talking to him, he'd have to bend his neck to talk to you. His posture would slouch just so he could hear you speak. When he'd look away, Miguel would rub the back of his neck, massaging out the knots that were forming from craning his head down so much to talk to the other Spiders.

You've seen tall people and you've seen others with muscles–however you were more focused on something smaller. As Miguel would type away on his monitor, viewing and discarding dim yellow screens in the air, you'd not so subtly stare at his hands. A part of you was amazed and a part of you had some sort of sick guilty pleasure watching his fingers move around. You coughed into your fist and looked away when Miguel snapped his head down at you, the familiar heat crawling up your neck.

“What?” He grumbles, his eyes squinting down at you.

“Huh? Wuh?” You turn your head around, pretending to think he's talking to someone else.

Miguel rolls his eyes, a soft scoff escaping his lips before he grabs your chin. Your breath gets caught in your throat. Miguel’s fingers squishing your cheeks and pulling you forward to him. His fingers stop near your temple and you can barely hear his voice through the haze of your mind.

“Wait–wait, say that again?” You whisper while Miguel just stares at you.

He lets go of you and you miss the heat from his palm. “You obviously aren’t focused. Either get it out of your head or leave. I don’t need someone distracted right now.” He tsks and focuses back on the monitors, hands waving in the air. You shuffle from side to side, clenching and unclenching your hands into fists. You fought with yourself wondering if you should let the impulse get to you. “Can I see your hands?” You blurt out. Miguel freezes but his eyes are in a confused wide stare at his screen. “What?” “For like a second!” You defended yourself, holding out your palms and raising your eyebrows in a pleading way. Miguel looks between your hands and face, an uncomfortable and confused glint in his eyes. Pouting, you take it as rejection, sniffling dramatically to yourself. But Miguel looks away as he places his hand in yours gently. You gasp in happiness and bring it up to your eyes. You press your thumbs to his palm, both of them looking tiny. Pressing harder, you notice little slits of his talons coming out and you giggle. Pressing over and over again, you watch as the little claws extract and retract repeatedly. Miguel’s eyebrow twitches. Then using one of your hands, you place yours and his hand together, wrist to wrist as close as possible. You blink and take a closer look at the size difference. Your entire hand barely reached past his palm, his fingers even longer.

While you marveled at how giant Miguel was, Miguel looked down at you with a flushed expression. Blush scattered across his cheeks as he noticed how small you were compared to him. He knew he was a big guy–he knew that compared to him, everyone was pocket sized. But particularly about you, it was more in his face. He had an urge to wrap his fingers over yours, wanting to see how it would engulf yours. You move his hand to the front of your face, your nose bumping into his middle finger. Even then, his hand was still very much larger than your head. “Holy shit. Do they even make things in your size here?” You laugh, your breath hitting his suit and he feels the warmth of your laugh through the fabric. Miguel squirms slightly, watching how his hand is covering your entire face. If he wanted, he could grab you right now. He could grab you, pick you up, cover your blabbering mouth easily, and maybe he can easily push your head into the mattress with a single hand– Miguel burns, looking away and pushing your face away from him. You yelp and stumble back from the force, catching yourself before you hurt yourself on the floor. “OW?” You glare at him. He’s turned away from you, back to bringing up video files and camera recordings of different universes. “Get back to work now.” He growls and you dust yourself off with a huff. You take another glance at him before sighing and facing the other way–failing to notice the tips of his ears a dark red shade.
