December special voting guide

Hello, everyone! We've now reached the end of the first phase, where you were able to request fics for the December special. Now we move onto the voting. This is how it's gonna work:

First Round (Five Polls):

1. There will be five polls, each containing 10 options (numbers representing each request). The last poll will have 9 options since there are 49 requests in total.

2. You guys can vote in each poll, choosing your favorite option from each group.

3. The first and second place from each poll (10 in total) will move on to the second round.

Second Round (Five Polls with 10 Options):

1. The 10 remaining requests (those that placed first or second in the initial polls) will be included in five new polls.

2. Each poll will include all 10 options, and you can vote five times (one vote per poll) since we need to choose five fics.

3. The top five requests with the most votes across these polls will be the ones chosen for December.

A continuation of last year. You, Irene and the new coworker Seulgi work for a media company, who produces music videos for entertainment companies. Around this time of the year, two female soloists are about to have their comebacks. Im Yoona and Karina. They both have similar music, similar concepts and the same target audience, which makes them natural rivals. A good music video always has a big impact of a song's popularity and success. Which of the two can convince your team to invest more time and attention into her music video?

IU mentioned how she wants to be the center of attention, how she sometimes wishes she was in a girl group, so she could fool around with her members and have their hands all over her.

A continuation of IU's journey from the "Take what you can" storyline.

Another continuation for IU. One night, IU asks you to help her out. Of course you want to help her, thinking it's just sex like usual. But she asks you to do something different. Karina complaines and tries to fight it, but in the end, she knows she has to do it. She's supposed to entertain one of the company's investors during a dinner. She heard from Irene how the experiences can vary from investor to investor, so she isn't completely surprised when the older man asks her for a sexual favor. Being Itzy's manager isn't the only thing that is crazy in your life. Somehow, you managed to make Irene your loving girlfriend. Due to pure coincidence, her apartment and Itzy's new dorm are in the same apartment complex on the same floor. Irene lets you know that she has planned something special. Azul Ashengrotto

Christmas was supposed to be a joyous occasion, especially for those young and in love. Azul however felt nothing but utter failure, he wishes he put an octo-pot on his wishlist. 

You see, Azul had the plan of sweeping you off your feet and giving you a perfectly planned kiss from the many mistletoes he had conveniently placed around the lounge. He knew some may not work that's why he bought a few, but you had ignored every. Single. One. Of. Them. 

First was when the annual christmas party started, he had very strategically led you over to the counter to make you an Azul made original mocktail, and right above it was a mistletoe in the spot you always sit at whenever he's making you a drink. But for whatever reason you sat in a completely different chair, he saw Jade chuckling at him when passing by as you sipped your drink and Azul made sure to give him the meanest glare possible.

The second time was in a specific corner that he planned to walk over with you and act surprised at the mistletoe that's so randomly there. However with whatever entity watching above that seemed to enjoy teasing him, you walked over to the spot where the plant was no longer in range to be considered smoochable. Azul stopped and gaped at you for a couple of seconds at that before slipping back into his persona, silently cursing at himself.

The third time had actually worked, just not in his interest. A mistletoe could be seen nearby the seating area, and he had thought to go over there with you for some food as a break from all the partying. But it just so happened that Floyd was sitting on that exact table, and joked about how the two of you must kiss, staring right at Azul as he said this. 

And you gave him a kiss on the cheek.

This is why Azul is currently outside the lounge, using the pathetic excuse of needing fresh air to go and thinking of how he's going to punish Floyd for one upping him, with his own partner as well!?

Sliding back against the wall, he sits and sighs in defeat. Now he’ll never get the ‘special feeling’ of getting kissed under a mistletoe and instead be another loser on christmas. A slow creak knocked him out of his thoughts and he looked up to find your face staring back at him, arms behind your back.

“You okay? You seemed less into the Christmas spirit ever since the party started.” You speak, a small worried smile on your features as you slide down to sit next to him. He mumbled some words along the lines of ‘doing just fine’ in the fabric of his suit, a faint pink overtaking his cheeks at the thought of telling you he’s upset about not receiving a kiss.

“Well I know just the thing to cheer you up, can you look at me?” 

There was a teasing tone to your voice, he was almost tempted to not face you after all the stunts you pulled but since you didn't do it intentionally he turns to look, only to be met with a painstakingly familiar green and white plant and an even more familiar pair of lips on his.

Huh, maybe he got his Christmas wish after all.

Floyd Leech

Ever since floyd had been introduced to the concept of ‘mistletoe’ you learnt it had lost the special feeling it once gave you. Especially when it happens at least 20 times a week during the Christmas season.

You love Floyd really, however having a plant shoved into your face and then being kissed more than once every interaction has made your lips bruised and checking your back 24/7 incase he jumps at you, mistletoe in his hand. You can't even hang out with him like you normally do, it's less hanging out and more making out like no tomorrow!

There's nothing wrong with it necessarily, Floyd kissing you is more than welcomed, until it's to the point that's all you do, with no breaks to even breathe! 

Gently massaging your lips from a most recent mistletoe ambush-a cut is already healing from a few bites during the session- you think to yourself of a way to atleast make Floyd stop or lessen the kissing.

Since this is his first time learning about mistletoe perhaps you can try to encourage him to follow a few made up rules about it.

A surge of confidence enveloped you at the idea, to get Floyd to be even remotely interested in following rules there has to be something he can gain from it. A plan begins brewing in your mind, wandering off to your next lesson with a goal in mind.

When the bell rings, instead of rushing away and attempting to hide from Floyd, you walk about through the halls decorated with tinsel and baubles looking for a familiar face within the crowd of students. Because of your very unsuccessful attempt of searching for Floyd, you end up sitting on a bench outside waiting for him to find you as he always does.

 Resting your eyes for a few seconds, a very familiar fake plastic plant smell is placed in front of you, and with opening them the object of your nightmares and its wielder is staring down at you with a smile sharp full of affection.

This time, however, you're prepared. Before Floyd even gets the chance to deliver you a big smooch you place a hand against his puckered lips, blocking him.

“Shrimpppyyy, what’r you doin..lemme kith you.” Floyd grumbled, his words half muffled by your hand.

“No can do Floyd, i'm not kissing you with a mistletoe anymore you broke the rules.” You state firmly, or tried to, it's hard to be strict when he looks so ridiculous with his face, now, in your hands.

“Whaddya mean rules? Kissing has no rules..” He grumbles, hand drawing random shapes on your leg as he listens intently, this is the first time in ages you had a proper conversation since it's mostly been kissing. “Mistletoe kissing does though! So if you want to kiss me during christmas you have to follow them or no more kisses!” 

Floyd’s face drops at this, no more kissing his Shrimpy that's his second favourite thing-his first being his Shrimpy of course-a frown makes place on his face, weighing the option in his head ... .kiss Shrimpy or not kiss Shrimpy..

His classic charming toothy grin is back on his features, placing the mistletoe on the bench beside you. Leaning more into your hands, “So.. tell me the rules Shrimpy, i'll listen like one of those Savanaclaw pups!”

“First it has to be a real one not that plastic one you bring everywhere, second you can’t wait under one for me we have to be under one at the same time… and third you cannot carry your own everywhere and we have to kiss only once if there's only one mistletoe!!” You should honestly receive an award at this point for how you can think of these and putting up with Floyd simultaneously.

Floyd-who seems lost in thought for a moment-now stood up to his full height, patting the top of your head affectionately “Mkay Shrimpy, i'll listen to you if ya say so!”

After telling Floyd the very legitimate rules to mistletoe, you begin to finally look forward to being less cautious about being jumped by a big eel who has a big fascination with kissing you.

And what a day it has been with no extreme make out sessions for a while-a small part of you misses it… thankfully a text notification knocks you out of a dangerous thought.

Walking to the sea-themed dorm, you notice your eel boyfriend sitting outside..he must have done something to really stress Azul out for that. Floyd, now noticing you, sits up straight and runs to you for a squeeze, a suspiciously mischievous smirk on his face. 

“Shrimpyy, you gotta talk to Azul for me or he’s banning me from beating up the small fry!” Yeah he’s definitely done something to upset Azul but Floyd-is-up-to-something senses in your mind are going crazy.. just what is he up to, ”Okay Floyd, i'll try but i'm not promising anything!” 

You should really listen to the warning sirens in your head as nothing prepared you for the lounge being completely decked out in mistletoes.

No-one in sight except for you and Floyd, speaking of him you slowly turn to face him. The doors now close as he stalks closer to you. “I listened to Shrimpy's rules and now i get to kiss Shrimpy as much as i want too!”

Next time you think to just let Floyd kiss you on his own terms like usual.

Jade Leech

It's no secret that Jade loves to surprise you, perhaps a bit too but that thought is all but forgotten when he treats you like a proper gentleman. 

As the winter season is here and that means Christmas, Jade was nothing but delighted to learn the concept of mistletoe but you didn't have to know about it and so he conducted a plan to deliver only the best mistletoe kiss for you.

Speaking of the mastermind, you watch him walk around the lounge serving orders and collecting dirty dishes. That's why you're taking your time with yours, and Jade knows this by the amount of times he's walked past your booth eyes locking with yours as to signal something. 

Of course you know what he's trying to do, Jade usually comes over when you’ve finished a drink or meal as a guise to take a break from waitering and talk to you. You think about finishing the cup soon, the potions homework you have to finish is becoming increasingly frustrating and you know Jade would just love to help especially since the lounge is more busy with the christmas season.

The decision was already made to drink the remaining liquid, potions are hard and you can get your boyfriend to help! And so when Jade walked around to check, you saw the relief on his face as he stopped by your booth.

 “I was wondering when you were going to stop being so cruel to deprive me of your presence for so long.” He fakes an imaginary tear, hand placed on his chest as he sits across from you. If you didn't know him so well and not his partner you're sure you would've missed the slight slouch in his shoulders and how his smile was strained more than usual.

“How terribly inconsiderate of me, i didn't know you wanted me this bad,” you smile softly at him, banter between the two of you is easy and you did feel bad as Jade had been working more often due to the winter season.

Jade smiles at your words, drifting his eyes down to the pile of paper and scratched pencil markings on it, he lifts one up to see what you were struggling with.. “...Potions homework. I assume you need my help?” A look of pure exasperation made its way on your face, slumping downward, “It’s much more difficult than what we did before...”

Jade chuckles at this, reaching over to pat your head lightly. This is all working his favour, perfect.

“How about you come over to the bar and I can help you there? That way I can work and assist you at the same time. I would hate to cut our time short, especially when you’re struggling!” You know now you had bagged the right twin, scrambling for all the materials you had spread out on the table to move to the bar area. 

Perhaps you were too blinded by his offer and forgot a big rule when dealing with your boyfriend, he doesn't do anything for free. When you finally sit down, ready to actually get some work done, to only look up and see a familiar hanging plant that's been terrorizing many students. 

Jade's face was already leant towards yours, “Oh my, I wonder who put it here.. Apparently there's tradition that goes with this plant, are you willing to demonstrate?”

It was the middle of December, and while most of the world was buzzing with the excitement of the holiday season, you found yourself feeling unusually distant from it all.

You had just finished wrapping your last batch of presents for your partner, making sure to pick out the most thoughtful, expensive gifts you could afford. After all, you were always the one putting in the effort. But this year, something felt... off.

Your partner was wonderful in their own way, but their lack of enthusiasm toward your relationship was becoming harder to ignore. You had been giving and giving, buying extravagant gifts, planning special dates, but the love and care were never quite returned. The effort you put into making everything perfect always seemed to go unnoticed, and it was beginning to wear you down.

At least you had Oscar.

Oscar Piastri, your best friend, the one person who had always been there for you. You and Oscar had been friends for years—there wasn’t a time in your life when he hadn’t been by your side, cheering you on, offering advice, and making you laugh when everything felt heavy. You were closer than close, sharing secrets, late-night conversations, and a bond that no one could break.

And yet, you couldn’t shake the feeling that something was different this year. Oscar had been quieter than usual, his usual teasing replaced with moments of awkward silence. You weren’t sure what it was, but it felt like there was something he wasn’t telling you.

Tonight, you had invited him over to help you decorate your apartment. The tree was up, the fairy lights twinkled around the windows, and the scent of gingerbread filled the air. It was supposed to be festive and fun, but the weight of your emotions was pressing down on you. You wanted everything to be perfect, but you couldn’t escape the gnawing feeling in the pit of your stomach.

Oscar, ever the good friend, was hanging ornaments on the tree, clearly trying his best to make light of the mood. He had his signature easygoing smile plastered on his face, but there was something in his eyes that made you wonder if he was feeling the same distance you were.

“So, what’s the plan for Christmas Eve?” he asked, glancing over his shoulder as you finished wrapping a gift.

“I’m spending it with my partner,” you replied, trying to keep your tone neutral. “You?”

“Same,” he answered, his voice a little too casual. You could tell he wasn’t really focused on the question. “You know, you’ve been running around, doing all this stuff for them,” he said, nudging you lightly. “I hope they’re at least appreciative.”

You blinked, surprised by the edge in his tone. “Of course they are,” you said, brushing it off, though you couldn’t ignore the tiny pang in your chest.

“Yeah,” Oscar said softly, his gaze shifting to the floor. “I hope so.”

The conversation lapsed into an awkward silence, and you couldn’t help but wonder if Oscar was picking up on something you hadn’t quite acknowledged yourself. Maybe it was just your overactive imagination, but you could feel the weight of something unspoken between you two.

As the evening went on, the apartment filled with the soft glow of candles and the hum of Christmas music. But no matter how hard you tried to focus on the joy of the season, you kept feeling that emptiness creep up again. It was hard to ignore how you were giving everything to a relationship that didn’t feel reciprocated, and how the one person who truly understood you was just a little too quiet.

Eventually, your partner arrived, a little later than you had expected. They didn’t seem to notice your quiet mood or the lack of enthusiasm in their own demeanor as they entered the room, offering you a half-hearted hug and a quick peck on the cheek.

“Hey,” they said, their tone flat. “Everything looks great. Thanks for all the hard work.”

You forced a smile, but inside, you couldn’t help but feel the distance growing between you. “Of course. I wanted it to be perfect.”

Oscar, noticing the shift in energy, excused himself to grab a drink from the kitchen. You tried to make small talk with your partner, but the conversation felt stiff, like you were both just going through the motions.

Then, a soft voice broke through the tension. Oscar was standing in the doorway, a mischievous grin on his face.

“Well, I think it’s time for the annual mistletoe kiss, don’t you?” he teased, pointing above your head where a sprig of mistletoe hung from the doorframe.

You blinked, caught off guard. “What?”

“Come on,” Oscar said, his smile widening. “You can’t skip out on tradition.”

You laughed awkwardly, but there was a nervous edge to it. You weren’t sure what it was about the mistletoe that suddenly made your heart race. Was it the alcohol in the air? The Christmas music? Or maybe it was just the fact that Oscar was standing so close, his blue eyes glinting with an emotion you couldn’t quite place.

Oscar stepped forward, his hand resting lightly on your shoulder as he bent down, his lips brushing against your cheek. It was a soft, tender gesture, a kiss that lingered just a little longer than usual. Your heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, you forgot everything else—the awkwardness, the distance between you and your partner, the emptiness you’d been feeling.

When Oscar pulled back, his expression softened, and you could see a flicker of something in his eyes. Something more than just friendship.

“Alright, alright, no need to make it weird,” he joked, breaking the tension. But there was a softness in his voice now, something that felt different.

As Oscar turned to leave, you couldn’t shake the feeling that something had just shifted between you. Your heart was pounding in your chest, your mind racing to process the kiss. It was just a silly tradition, right? Just a joke between friends. But why did it feel so different? And why did it feel like your heart was caught in a vice?

You stood there for a moment, trying to gather yourself. Your partner was talking to you, but you could barely hear their words. Instead, all you could think about was Oscar—the way his lips had brushed against yours, the softness of his touch, the unspoken tension that seemed to hang in the air.

And then, it hit you.

Oscar was in love with you. You’d never seen it before, never realized the depth of his feelings, but it was there, unmistakable in the way he had looked at you after the kiss. The way he had been there for you, time and time again, always putting you first.

But you weren’t sure if you were ready to acknowledge that truth—not with the relationship you were still trying to make work, not when you couldn’t even figure out what you truly wanted.

The rest of the night passed in a blur, but you couldn’t stop thinking about the kiss beneath the mistletoe, the one that had felt like it carried so much more meaning than you’d ever expected.

Maybe, just maybe, it was time to stop pretending.

It's that easy! Card Requests are now open, and close on December 20th in order to give me enough time to make and send all the cards before the end of the year. Please submit sooner rather than later so I have time to finish them all!

Also, please don’t be afraid to request a physical card if you don’t live in the US! The card service I use says they ship worldwide and, while it might take a bit longer for you to receive your card depending on what country you live in, the cards will get mailed to whatever address you provide, domestic or foreign. Last year I mailed/emailed a total of 111 cards to the United Kingdom, Canada, United States, Brazil, Romania, Poland, Australia, Germany, India, Japan, and New Zealand!

What is Fic In A Box

A gift exchange is an event where participants create fanworks to gift to each other. Fic In A Box is a fanwork exchange with a large minimum gifting requirement and several unique features. Gifts can include fic, art, audio, video— and much much more.

How It Works/The Nitty-Gritty:

All participants in Fic In A Box are requesting 10,000 words of fanfiction by default, but can opt in to other mediums to give their gifter options. Mediums can include writing structure things like "in-world rpf" for your gift, or include creative formats as far away from fic as different types of art, knitting patterns, logic puzzles, and so on. There were 288 mediums to choose from last year, and we add more every year.

For mediums other than the written word, pretty much any medium will be accepted, as long as it can be digitized for delivery and we can agree on a clear and easily checked equivalent to 1k of written fic. Participants who primarily work in non-writing mediums are very welcome and will get specially matched (as long as they give the mods a heads-up) so they'll have an assignment they can complete. If your art form is fannish cross-stitch? We'd love to have you join us.

Participants have the option to split the 10k words (or equivalent in an opted-into medium) that they owe between several separate works (say, one fic of 3k and a another of 7k) to reach 10k total. The minimum word count per work is 1k by default, but lower wordcount works will count if your recipient has opted into receiving them. (Drabble is a medium that can be opted into!) And initial assignments are 10k for one person, but at the start of the exchange the mods run Swaps which will give you the chance to split that 10k into multiple shorter assignments for multiple recipients!

So when it comes time to turn in gifts, you might turn in 3k worth of art, 4k in fic, and 3k in typesetting a fic (10k total), and then you receive 8k of fic and 2k of map design (10k total). Last year 265 people signed up, and we exchanged 993 gifts at the end of the creation period, everything from fic to reddit posts to logic puzzles to museum catalogues to CYOA stories to colouring pages!

If you cannot complete the full 10k (or other medium equivalent) but are still able to post one or more smaller, complete works, you can default on just the remaining wordcount. You will then be guaranteed (via finding a back up gifter-- "pinch hitting"-- if necessary) a gift equivalent to the amount you were able to submit (rounded down to the nearest 1k). There are also options to "earn back" guaranteed minimum amount by taking pinch hits or completing your original assignment.

You clutch a paper bag filled with Christmas ornaments in one hand and a to-go cup of peppermint mocha in the other as you climb the stairs to Steve’s apartment. The cold December air bites at your cheeks, even though you’re wrapped up in a scarf and hat. You blame Steve and his "Brooklyn charm" for making you abandon the comfort of your heated apartment to help him decorate his Christmas tree.

"Just a tree," he'd said on the phone, his voice low and a little sheepish. "I mean, it’s no big deal, but, you know… I could use an extra set of hands."

Of course, you said yes. You always say yes to Steve.

The door to his apartment swings open before you even knock, as if he’s been standing there, watching through the peephole. "Hey!" he says, his face lighting up in a way that makes your heart do a little flip. He’s dressed casually in a cream sweater that looks like it’s seen a few decades of loyal service and a pair of jeans that hug his frame just right.

"Hey yourself," you say, pushing past him before your brain goes too far down the admiration rabbit hole. "You didn’t tell me I’d have to lug all the ornaments up three flights of stairs."

"I offered to come get you," he says, closing the door behind you. There’s a hint of pink dusting his ears. "You said you could handle it."

"I didn’t know it would feel like carrying a bag of bowling balls. What are these ornaments made of, vibranium?"

Steve lets out a laugh, the kind that makes you smile before you can stop yourself. "I told you to pack light."

"You’re the one who doesn’t have a single ornament in this apartment. It’s like a Christmas crime scene in here."

He rubs the back of his neck, his sheepishness kicking up a notch. "I guess I’ve never really gotten into decorating. Figured it might be more fun with… someone else."

Your chest tightens. Steve has this way of making you feel like you’re the most important person in the world, even when he doesn’t mean to. Or maybe he does. You’re not great at figuring that part out.

"Well, lucky for you, I’m a Christmas tree expert." You set the bag down on the small dining table and peel off your scarf and coat, hanging them on the back of a chair. The apartment smells faintly of pine, thanks to the freshly-cut tree standing in the corner by the window. It’s tall and a little lopsided, but somehow it suits Steve perfectly.

"Expert, huh?" He raises an eyebrow as he takes your coat and hangs it on the hook by the door. "Didn’t know that was on your résumé."

"Yep. Right under 'excellent taste in holiday drinks.'" You hold up your peppermint mocha and take a triumphant sip.

He grins, shaking his head. "You want something stronger? Coffee, tea, maybe hot cocoa?"

"Tempting, but this cup of Christmas cheer is all I need for now. Besides," you gesture at the tree, "we’ve got work to do."

Steve crosses his arms and leans against the counter, watching you with a look you can’t quite decipher. "You’re really into this, huh?"

"Steve," you say, deadpan, "this is Christmas. The most wonderful time of the year. Of course I’m into it."

He chuckles, moving to the other side of the room to grab a box of string lights. His movements are deliberate, like he’s stalling for time. You’ve noticed that about him—he’s not great at hiding when something’s on his mind. You, on the other hand, have mastered the art of pretending your heart doesn’t do gymnastics every time he looks at you like that.

"You want to tell me why your tree’s leaning like it’s auditioning for Cirque du Soleil?" you ask, trying to lighten the mood.

"I, uh…" He scratches his head. "I didn’t know they came with stands, so I just kinda… improvised."

"Improvised how?"

He points to the base of the tree, where it’s propped up in a bucket filled with gravel. You slap a hand over your mouth to stifle a laugh, but it’s no use. You double over, tears forming in the corners of your eyes.

"Don’t laugh," he protests, though he’s smiling too. "It’s functional."

"It’s a disaster," you say between giggles. "We’re lucky it hasn’t toppled over yet."

"I was going for rustic," he says, crossing his arms in mock indignation.

"Sure, Cap. Rustic." You wipe your eyes and shake your head. "First thing’s first: we’re fixing this."

You kneel by the tree, inspecting the bucket and the precarious balance Steve has managed to achieve. He crouches down next to you, his shoulder brushing against yours. The contact sends a jolt of warmth through you, and you silently curse yourself for being so easily affected.

"So, how do we fix it?" he asks.

"We get an actual tree stand for starters. Do you have one?"

"Uh… no. But I can go get one."

You glance at the clock. "Good luck finding a hardware store open this late on a Sunday in December."

Steve frowns, and for a second, you think he might suggest tearing the whole thing down and starting over. Instead, he grabs a roll of duct tape from a nearby drawer.

"Oh no," you say, holding up a hand. "Absolutely not."

"It’ll work," he insists.

"This is why you need supervision. Step away from the duct tape."

Steve’s laugh is warm and unguarded, and for a moment, it feels like the two of you are in your own little bubble, insulated from the rest of the world. You glance at him, and for a brief second, your gazes lock. His blue eyes are softer than you’ve ever seen them, and your heart skips a beat.

"You’re something else," he murmurs, almost too quietly for you to hear.

You swallow hard, forcing yourself to look away before your face gives you away. "And you’re a menace to Christmas trees everywhere. Now help me figure out how to stabilize this thing without duct tape."

As the two of you brainstorm increasingly ridiculous solutions—everything from tying the tree to the ceiling with fishing line to bracing it with a stack of books—you can’t help but feel a little giddy. Steve Rogers might be the most frustratingly charming person you’ve ever met, but right now, in this cozy little apartment filled with laughter and the faint scent of pine, you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

You sit cross-legged on the floor, glaring at the lopsided Christmas tree like it’s a personal nemesis. Steve’s still holding the roll of duct tape, spinning it idly in one hand as if hoping inspiration will strike. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t.

"This tree isn’t going to stay up unless we do something," you say, rubbing your temples. "And I am not spending Christmas with a mangled pile of pine on the floor."

Steve leans back on his heels, giving you that earnest look that always makes you want to throw a pillow at him. "You’re the expert, remember? I’m just following orders."

"Okay, first of all, stop calling me the expert unless you want to hear me ramble about how Christmas tree decorating is an art form. Second, I think we need help."

He tilts his head. "Help?"

"Your neighbors," you say. "Someone around here has to have a spare tree stand lying around."

"You’re just going to knock on doors and ask?"

"Desperate times call for desperate measures, Steve." You push yourself up off the floor and brush off your jeans. "Besides, if you want this tree to stay upright without duct tape, we need a proper stand."

Steve sets the tape down and crosses his arms. "I could go."

"Nope," you say, grabbing your scarf from the chair. "You’re staying here and untangling those lights while I’m gone. If we’re doing this, we’re doing it right."

He frowns, glancing at the box of string lights like it’s full of venomous snakes. "You’re giving me the easy job, huh?"

"Exactly. Don’t say I never do anything nice for you."

"Thanks," he deadpans, but the corner of his mouth quirks up in a smile.

You pull on your coat, grab the nearest empty shopping bag to carry a stand back in, and head out the door. The building is quiet for a Sunday evening, and your footsteps echo as you make your way to the nearest apartment. You knock lightly, hoping whoever lives there is friendly and doesn’t think you’re some kind of door-to-door solicitor.

The first neighbor answers, but they don’t have a tree stand. Neither does the second, who gives you a sympathetic shrug before closing their door. By the time you get to the third door, you’re starting to think this whole plan is a bust.

But then, a middle-aged woman named Linda comes to the rescue. She’s all smiles, wearing a festive sweater adorned with a sparkly reindeer. "I think I might have one in the storage closet," she says. "Hold on, let me check."

Five minutes later, she’s handing you a dusty but serviceable tree stand with a cheerful, "Merry Christmas, sweetie!"

You thank her profusely and head back upstairs, feeling victorious. You didn’t just save Christmas—you saved Steve’s Christmas. Or at least his tree’s dignity.

The sight that greets you when you open the door to his apartment nearly makes you drop the stand.

"Steve?" you manage, your voice cracking with suppressed laughter.

He’s in the middle of the room, completely wrapped up in the string of lights. Not just tangled, but wrapped. The green wire loops around his torso, arms, and legs in a chaotic mess, and the bulbs blink cheerfully in alternating colors. He looks like a very frustrated Christmas mummy.

"Uh," he says, his cheeks bright red. "I might’ve gotten a little… stuck."

You bite your lip, trying and failing to hold back a grin. "Steve, what did you do?"

"I was untangling them!" he protests, twisting slightly, which only makes the lights tighten around him. "But then I thought it’d be easier to test them while I worked. And, uh… one thing led to another."

"You decided to test them by wrapping yourself in them?" You step inside, setting the tree stand down by the door, and cross your arms.

"Not on purpose!" he says, exasperated. "I just—look, I thought I could handle it, okay?"

"And now you’re a human Christmas display."

"Not my proudest moment," he mutters, glancing down at his glowing predicament. "I can probably get out of this if I—"

"Don’t you dare," you interrupt. "If you use your super strength to break free, you’re going to destroy those lights, and then we’ll have no tree and no lights."

He sighs, clearly resigned to his fate. "So, what’s the plan, Christmas expert?"

"The plan," you say, trying not to laugh, "is to figure out how you managed to do this to yourself in the first place."

"It’s not funny," he grumbles, though the corners of his mouth twitch.

"It’s a little funny," you say, letting out a chuckle. "Okay, maybe it’s a lot funny."

He groans, tilting his head back as if praying for patience. The lights blink red and green against his face, and for some reason, it only makes the whole thing funnier.

"I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself," he says dryly.

"Come on, Steve, this is classic holiday hijinks!" You drop your bag and move closer, walking in a slow circle around him to assess the damage. "You could be in a Christmas movie right now."

"Great," he mutters. "What’s next? Am I going to get stuck in the chimney?"

You can’t hold it in anymore. You burst out laughing, clutching your stomach as tears form in the corners of your eyes. "Steve, you’re… you’re a walking rom-com cliché!"

He gives you an exasperated look, but there’s a spark of amusement in his eyes too. "Are you done yet?"

"Not even close," you say, wiping your eyes. "This is going in my mental scrapbook forever."

Steve rolls his eyes, but you catch the small smile tugging at his lips. You know he’s taking this in stride because that’s who he is—patient, good-natured, and, well, the kind of guy who accidentally wraps himself in Christmas lights.

You grab your phone and hold it up. "I need a picture of this."

"No way," he says, shaking his head.

"Steve, come on. This is pure gold!"

"If you take a picture, I’m never letting you forget about the time you fell off your bike in Central Park."

"That was one time!"

"And it was hilarious."

You pout, but his playful smirk makes your heart skip a beat. "Fine," you say, lowering the phone. "I’ll let you off the hook—this time."

"Generous of you," he says. He shifts his weight, and the lights jingle faintly. "So, uh… you planning on helping me out, or are you just going to stand there laughing?"

You grin, taking another moment to admire the absurdity of the situation before finally walking over to inspect the tangled mess. "Hang tight, Cap," you say with a wink. "I’ve got this."

"Hang tight," you say, trying to suppress a smirk. "This is going to take a minute."

Steve sighs, his broad shoulders slumping as much as the tangled lights will allow. He looks more resigned than relaxed, though, and there’s a tension in his jaw that you don’t miss. He might be strong enough to crush those lights with a flick of his wrist, but the prospect of destroying Christmas decorations has clearly left him powerless.

You kneel beside him, inspecting the tangled mess. "Okay, first of all, how did you even manage to get this bad? Did the lights fight back?"

"Very funny," he says, voice dry but tinged with embarrassment. "I don’t know—it just sort of... happened."

You lean in closer, reaching for the strand that’s looped tightly around his forearm. Your fingers brush against his skin as you tug the lights loose, and you swear you see him flinch ever so slightly.

"You good?" you ask, glancing up at him.

"Yeah, fine," he says quickly, avoiding your gaze.

A slow smile spreads across your face. "You sure? You seem a little... tense."

"I’m fine," he repeats, his voice an octave higher than usual.

You hum thoughtfully, pretending to focus on the task at hand. The truth is, the tangle isn’t as complicated as it looks. You could probably have him free in five minutes flat, but where’s the fun in that? Especially when Steve—Captain America himself—is turning redder than Rudolph’s nose.

"Okay, hold still," you say, looping the lights away from his shoulder. "This might take a while."

"Take your time," he mumbles, though his expression suggests he’d prefer this ordeal to be over immediately.

You crouch beside him, your hands brushing against his arms as you work. Each time your fingers skim his skin, you catch the faintest hitch in his breath. It’s subtle, but it’s there, and it makes you bite back a grin.

"Wow," you say after a moment, tilting your head dramatically. "This is really knotted up. I’m going to have to get creative here."

"Creative?" he asks, a touch of panic in his voice.

"Mmhmm," you say, sliding your hand along his bicep to pull a strand free. "It’s all about finding the right... angles."

His jaw tightens, and his cheeks are unmistakably pink now. You’re not even sure if he’s breathing anymore.

You lean in unnecessarily close, pretending to inspect a particularly stubborn knot near his collarbone. Your fingers linger a little longer than they need to, and you can feel the heat radiating off him.

"You okay, Cap?" you tease, glancing up at him with wide, innocent eyes.

"I’m fine," he says through gritted teeth, though the way his ears are burning suggests otherwise.

"Hmm," you say, moving your hands lower to the strand wrapped around his waist. "You seem kind of warm. Is it the lights, or...?"

"Y/N," he says, his voice a warning, but it only makes you smile wider.

"What?" you ask, feigning innocence. "I’m just trying to help."

You tug the lights free from his torso, letting your hands graze his sides as you work. He twitches slightly, and you can’t help but laugh.

"Are you ticklish, Steve?" you ask, raising an eyebrow.

"No," he says too quickly, his blush deepening.

"Oh, really?" You let your fingers linger just a little longer than necessary, and he squirms despite himself. "Could’ve fooled me."

"Y/N," he groans, clearly torn between frustration and mortification.

"Relax," you say, patting his shoulder. "I’m almost done. Maybe."

"Maybe?"

"Well, it depends," you say, moving behind him to untangle the lights wrapped around his back. "This part looks... tricky."

You press your hand against his shoulder to steady yourself, leaning in closer than you need to. He stiffens under your touch, and you swear you can feel his heartbeat through his sweater.

"Stay still," you murmur, your breath brushing against his ear.

"Not moving," he says, his voice strained.

You take your time unwinding the lights, letting your fingers brush against his neck and shoulders in ways that are definitely not necessary. You can practically feel the tension radiating off him, and it’s taking everything you have not to burst out laughing.

"You’re really quiet all of a sudden," you say, tilting your head to look at him. "Something on your mind?"

"Nope," he says quickly, though his clenched jaw says otherwise.

You move back in front of him, crouching down to tackle the strand wrapped around his legs. Your fingers brush against his knees as you work, and you glance up at him with a mischievous smile.

"You’re awfully pink, Steve," you say, your tone light and teasing. "Are you sure you’re not overheating?"

He groans, dragging a hand down his face. "Y/N, please."

"Please what?"

"Just... focus."

"Oh, I’m focused," you say, tugging the lights free from his ankle. "But you’re making this way too easy."

"Easy for you," he mutters, looking everywhere but at you.

"Aw, come on," you say, leaning closer again. "It’s not so bad. You’re going to laugh about this someday."

"I’m laughing on the inside," he deadpans.

You grin, finally loosening the last stubborn knot near his wrist. But instead of freeing him completely, you pause, resting your hands on your hips.

"Hmm," you say thoughtfully.

"What now?" he asks, exasperated.

"I’m just wondering if I should leave you like this," you tease. "You do make a pretty good Christmas decoration."

"Y/N," he says, his voice low and dangerous, but the effect is ruined by the fact that he’s still blushing furiously.

"Okay, okay," you say, laughing. "I’ll finish. But only because you asked so nicely."

You reach for the last strand of lights, your fingers brushing against his as you work. His gaze flicks to yours for just a moment, and you swear the air between you shifts.

For a split second, you forget about the lights, the teasing, and everything else. It’s just you and Steve, and the realization hits you like a freight train: he’s flustered because of you.

And maybe you like that a little too much.

With a triumphant flourish, you untangle the last of the lights from Steve’s arms, letting the strand fall to the floor in a messy heap. "Almost there," you announce, giving him a teasing smile. "You’re about five seconds away from freedom."

"Finally," he mutters, though his voice is softer now, almost shy. He’s still blushing, and you’re doing your best not to dwell on how the soft blinking of the lights casts shadows over his ridiculously handsome face.

You take a deep breath and reach for the final loop of lights still hanging loosely around his neck. As your hands brush against him again, you catch the faintest intake of breath, and your heart skips a beat.

His thumbs brush against your cheeks as he deepens the kiss, and you can feel the tension that’s been simmering between you for months melt away like snow in the sun. It’s everything you didn’t know you’d been waiting for—warm, electric, and utterly perfect.

When you finally break apart, you’re both breathless. Steve’s cheeks are still flushed, but this time it’s not from embarrassment.

"Wow," you say, your voice barely above a whisper.

"Wow," he echoes, a small, almost shy smile tugging at his lips.

You both laugh softly, the sound breaking the lingering tension in the air.

"So," you say, trying to keep your voice steady, "does this mean you’re okay with me teasing you about the lights?"

Steve chuckles, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I think I can live with it," he says, his voice warm and steady.

And just like that, you know you’ve made the best decision of your life.

You lean back from the kiss, lips tingling and cheeks flushed. You’re about to make a joking comment about how the lights are now untangled and the tree still isn’t decorated, but Steve beats you to it—sort of.

Before you can move more than an inch, his arms loop around your waist, pulling you back toward him. His lips brush against your temple, then your cheek, and then the corner of your mouth, all before you can even take a breath.

"Steve," you murmur, laughing softly. "The tree."

"What about it?" he asks, his voice low and warm against your skin.

"We’re supposed to decorate it, remember?"

His response is a hum that’s suspiciously noncommittal. One of his hands trails up your back, and the other stays firmly around your waist, as though letting go of you is physically impossible.

"You’re kind of clingy, you know that?" you tease, though you don’t exactly try to wriggle out of his embrace.

He leans back just enough to look at you, his cheeks still slightly pink but his smile completely unrepentant. "I just became your boyfriend, Y/N. I think I’m allowed to be a little clingy."

You arch a brow. "Boyfriend, huh?"

His smile falters for half a second, and you can see the gears turning in his head. He realizes what he said, and his expression shifts into something sheepish.

"Well, I mean..." He clears his throat, his grip on you tightening ever so slightly. "You kissed me first, so I thought—"

"Steve."

"—and we just kissed again, so I figured—"

"Steve."

He finally stops rambling, looking down at you with wide, uncertain eyes. "Did I mess this up already?"

You laugh, cupping his face in your hands. "No, you big dork. But if you want me to be your girlfriend, you have to actually ask me."

His expression softens, and for a moment, he just looks at you, his gaze filled with so much affection it almost makes your knees weak.

"Y/N," he says, his voice steady and serious, "will you be my girlfriend?"

You grin, leaning up to kiss the tip of his nose. "Of course I will, Steve."

The smile that spreads across his face could power the entire block’s Christmas lights. He kisses you again, this time slower and sweeter, like he’s savoring every second.

When he finally pulls back, his hand comes up to cradle your cheek, his thumb brushing against your skin. "You’re stuck with me now," he murmurs, his tone half-teasing and half-sincere.

"Good," you say, grinning. "Because I don’t plan on going anywhere."

For a moment, you both just stand there, wrapped up in each other, the half-decorated tree completely forgotten. Then you glance over his shoulder and raise an eyebrow.

"Seriously, though," you say, "we should probably get back to the tree."

Steve groans dramatically, letting his forehead drop against yours. "The tree can wait."

"Steve."

"Nope," he says, scooping you up and twirling you around like you weigh nothing. You let out a surprised laugh, clutching his shoulders to steady yourself.

"Steve, we’re never going to get this done at this rate."

"Don’t care," he says, setting you back down but keeping his hands firmly on your waist. He leans down to press another kiss to your lips, then another to your jaw, and then one just below your ear.

"Okay, seriously," you say, trying to keep your voice steady despite the way he’s making your heart race. "This is cute and all, but I’m not going to let you use me as an excuse to procrastinate."

"I’m not procrastinating," he says, his voice warm and teasing. "I’m prioritizing."

"Prioritizing, huh?"

"Yep," he says, his tone smug. "And right now, my top priority is making sure my girlfriend knows exactly how much I like her."

You roll your eyes, though you’re grinning like an idiot. "Steve, I think I got the message about five kisses ago."

"Good," he says, kissing you again.

You laugh against his lips, pushing lightly at his chest. "Alright, Captain Clingy, let’s get back to work."

He groans again but finally lets you step out of his embrace—though he keeps one hand firmly on the small of your back as you move toward the tree.

You pick up the box of ornaments, glancing at him over your shoulder. "You know," you say casually, "you’re really bad at hiding how much you like me."

"I wasn’t trying to hide it," he says, following you to the tree.

You raise an eyebrow. "Could’ve fooled me. You were blushing every time I so much as looked at you earlier."

"Only because you kept touching me," he protests, his ears turning pink again.

"Steve, I was untangling the lights."

"Sure you were."

You laugh, setting the ornaments down and turning to face him. "Oh, come on. You’re the one who couldn’t stop blushing. Don’t blame me for noticing."

He steps closer, his hand sliding from your back to your hip. "You were doing it on purpose."

"Maybe," you admit, grinning up at him.

He shakes his head, but he’s smiling too. "You’re impossible."

"And yet, here you are, completely smitten," you say, leaning in to brush your lips against his.

"Completely," he murmurs against your mouth before kissing you again.

The ornaments remain untouched. The tree remains undecorated. And for the first time all evening, you couldn’t care less.

Second round

Hi everyone!

We've made it to the second round of voting for the December special. This is the list of the ten fics who are still in the race. I'll open five polls, where you can vote for every fic. Afterwards, I'll count the votes and write the 5 fics, who've won.

A continuation of IU's journey from the "Take what you can" storyline.

IU mentioned how she wants to be the center of attention, how she sometimes wishes she was in a girl group, so she could fool around with her members and have their hands all over her.

You decide to invite her to your place, without her knowing that you invited all five members of Itzy. The six of you make IU's wildest fantasies come true.

Ryujin and Yujin have one thing in common apart from the fact that they're pretty. Both girls are in love with you. And the best way for the two of them to show this to you is sex. The two of them always fight for your attention. But when Yujin decides to go shopping for some additional toys and equipment online, it all blows up in one huge competition. Will you be able to handle both of them for hours without a break? Who will win the title of being your favorite pet?

Seulgi always loved teasing people, who could do nothing about it. She knows she is hot, so she used that. Even in class. Being a teacher means, she can show the boys in her class what they're missing out on, without them ever being able to do anything about it. Around Christmas time, they eventually plan on turning things around. One of them gets in trouble on purpose, so he will be sitting in detention with Seulgi after classes on the last day of school. What do the boys have planned for their naughty teacher?

Karina complaines and tries to fight it, but in the end, she knows she has to do it. She's supposed to entertain one of the company's investors during a dinner. She heard from Irene how the experiences can vary from investor to investor, so she isn't completely surprised when the older man asks her for a sexual favor. Karina hesitates, but knows that this could influence her career. For good or bad. Hoping this will be over, she starts to take off his pants, but soon, she is pleasantly surprised.

Chaewon couldn't stop talking about getting invited to a camping trip by Sana and Miyeon. Your girlfriend was in a good mood for weeks, until the trip finally began. You were surprised when the three of them offered you to tag along, but you happily expected. Along the way, the three of you grow closer. The highlight of the trip includes a game of truth or dare. Which eventually ends in the best foursome of your life.

Since last years adventure with Seulgi, IU has grown even more in popularity. More and more sponsors and investors seem to come in. And it becomes clear that it isn't uncommon for them to ask for something special from time to time. Which is actually perfect for IU, since her and Seulgi still haven't determined an ultimate championof their own little competition. So what happens next? Will the two of them repeat their adventures from last year? Or will they come up with something even better?

After seeing how stressed out Miyeon and Minnie are, Soyeon decides to help them out. She knows a place where idols like them can properly unwind. The two girls are unaware of what kind of establishment Soyeon sent them to, until they meet you.

Irene, Karina, Yujin and Yeji all noticed that IU has gained a lot of popularity throughout the whole year. They see her as too old to still be acting out like this. Wanting to have more for themselves, they decide to convince her manager to drop her off at an hotel. The four of them punish IU for stealing their spotlight. Will IU survive the night?

Yujin always behaves like a bratty little slut. You eventually have enough of her and decide to degrade her as much as possible. The mall's bathroom becomes Yujin's home for a day as hundreds of men walk in and out.

Being Itzy's manager isn't the only thing that is crazy in your life. Somehow, you managed to make Irene your loving girlfriend. Due to pure coincidence, her apartment and Itzy's new dorm are in the same apartment complex on the same floor. Irene lets you know that she has planned something special. When you get there late at night, you almost bump into Ryujin's boyfriend. Because it's dark, the two of you confuse the two apartments. Bot of you find a tied up and blindfolded woman on a bed, just as each of you were promised. But are you in your girlfriend's apartment? And is he in Itzy's dorm?

• I feel like Kiryu would be more relaxed when it comes to this kind of darling no matter what gender. He would see it as a positive thing, for him it means that you aren’t always helpless and you can stand your ground until he comes back to you but there’s also this nagging part in the back of his mind that he can pinpoint. Yes, he is happy that you are physically strong but at the same time he wants you to depend on him, he can be your protector.

• Even if you are strong Kiryu would never raise his hand on you he knows his strength and your limits. He respects your tenacity and your strength but if you are stubborn he would give himself some time before he does something irrational.

• Even if you tried to provoke him he would never falter, he would stand his ground and say ‘No’ whenever you try to challenge him in a fight.

• If you were ever a Tojo or yakuza alliance member he felt secure that the Tojo clan had your back when you were in trouble but if you were ever an Omi or rival yakuza clan, he would genuinely be nervous anytime things were having heated tension, he’s scared that one day he has to fight you one on one.

• He would keep a close eye on you (if you haven’t been kidnapped by him) so you won’t get into any fights, he slowly stalks you and if anyone even tries to pick a fight with you Kiryu would pop out and grasp the wrist of whoever rose their hand on you.

• God forbids the day you get badly injured, you are tattered with bruises and blood-soaked clothes because Kiryu would drop everything and straight up run to whenever you are kept in, he doesn’t care if there are hoards of men waiting for him, he will come and get you, his eyes and heart is full of fury and he doesn't stop punching his way through even if his knuckles are numb and mix with blood.

• Aftermath of the whole incident best believe that Kiryu would be with you 24/7, he would monitor you even after you’re fully healed. He makes sure that you don’t push yourself with exercise, moving around, or even basic stuff.

• Scars are natural in battle, so if you ever had a scar or any large injury that makes you insecure then do not fret, Kiryu sees your scars as a reminder of your determination to live and get past the pain, and he will be there with you to help you walk through it.

• If you ever specialize in any sort of weaponry he would be genuinely interested, he would watch you train as your body naturally becomes tense with all the gymnastics, and he would see the way your arms flex whenever you use your weapon or if you don’t like using weapons but would rather use your hands like him then he would spar with you, using “spar” most of the time he is in defensive mode and won’t even try to hit a punch on you.

• He would teach you some martial arts or techniques he learned from his heydays so you both can improve those muscles of yours and after a long hard day, Kiryu knows that you can’t even use most of the techniques he taught you for he will always be at your side no matter what.

Today the House Ethics Committee released its report on its investigation of widely reported allegations that while in office, former representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) had engaged in sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, shared inappropriate videos on the House floor, misused state records, diverted campaign funds for his own use, and accepted a bribe or an impermissible gift.

The report says that the committee found “substantial evidence” that Gaetz had, in fact, “regularly paid women for engaging in sexual activity with him”; “engaged in sexual activity with a 17-year-old girl”; “used or possessed illegal drugs, including cocaine and ecstasy, on multiple occasions”; “accepted gifts…in excess of permissible amounts”; arranged official help for one of his sexual partners, whom he falsely identified to the State Department as a constituent, in getting a passport; tried to obstruct the committee’s investigation; and “acted in a manner that reflects discreditably upon the House.”

The committee concluded that “there was substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz violated House Rules, state and federal laws, and other standards of conduct prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, acceptance of impermissible gifts, the provision of special favors and privileges, and obstruction of Congress.”

It “did not find sufficient evidence to conclude that Representative Gaetz violated the federal sex trafficking statute. Although Representative Gaetz did cause the transportation of women across state lines for purposes of commercial sex, the Committee did not find evidence that any of those women were under 18 at the time of travel.”

Gaetz is a staunch ally of President-elect Donald Trump, who tried to put Gaetz in charge of the Justice Department. That appointment would have him responsible for law enforcement across the United States. House speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) tried hard to keep the report hidden once Trump had tapped Gaetz for attorney general, saying he “strongly request[ed] that the Ethics Committee not issue the report.”

The Ethics Committee at first deadlocked over releasing it, but Andrew Solender of Axios reported today that two Republicans on the committee, Representative Dave Joyce (R-OH) and Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), switched their votes to join the Democrats supporting the release of the report.

Ethics Committee chair Michael Guest (R-MS) and Representatives Michelle Fischbach (R-MN) and John Rutherford (R-FL) all opposed releasing the report, saying that they lost jurisdiction after Gaetz resigned, which he did when Trump announced his intention of putting him in the office of attorney general. In their comments in the report, they said they “do not challenge the Committee’s findings” but object to their disclosure.

Republican Party leaders were willing to put a man their own committee says likely violated state and federal laws into the position of the nation’s highest law enforcement officer. That scenario reflects the extraordinary danger of a country in which one party’s supporters see themselves as the country’s only legitimate governing party.

In 1970, President Richard M. Nixon’s team worried that the Republican Party would hemorrhage voters in the upcoming midterm elections. That spring, Nixon announced that rather than ending the Vietnam War, he had sent ground troops into Vietnam’s neighbor Cambodia. In the protests that followed, members of the Ohio National Guard fired into a crowd at Kent State University, killing four protesters. Nixon’s clumsy suggestion that the protesters were responsible for the shooting began to turn middle-class white Americans, his key demographic, against him.

So Nixon’s advisors turned to a strategy they called “positive polarization.” They believed that dividing the country was a positive development because it stoked the anger they needed to get their voters to turn out. They deliberately turned against what they called “the media, the left, [and] the liberal academic community,” drawing voters to Nixon by accusing their opponents of being lazy, dangerous, and anti-American.

This polarization became a key technique of the Republican Party in the Reagan years, when talk radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh began to fill the airwaves with attacks on “feminazis,” liberals, and Black Americans who they claimed were trying to impose socialism on America. By 1990, a Republican group associated with then-representative Newt Gingrich (R-GA) compiled a list of words for Republican candidates to use when talking about Democrats. They included “decay,” “sick,” “greed,” “corruption, “radical,” and “traitor.” In contrast, candidates were encouraged to refer to Republicans using words like “opportunity,” “courage,” “principle(d),” “caring,” and “peace.”

Over the past thirty years, Republicans appear to have come to believe that nothing is more important than making sure Republicans control the government. Less competition has given rise to states like Florida that are essentially controlled by the Republicans. This, in turn, means there is very little oversight of the party’s lawmakers, making obviously problematic candidates able to survive far longer than they would if there were opposition to highlight poor behavior.

It also means that party members appear willing to overlook deeply problematic behavior in their own lawmakers, who come to feel immune, while attacking Democrats for what Republicans claim is the same behavior. Notably, in February of this year, in a closed hearing before the House Oversight Committee, Gaetz badgered President Biden’s son Hunter over his drug use. Hunter Biden responded that he had been “absolutely transparent” about his drug use and asked: “What does that have to do with whether or not you're going to go forward with an impeachment of my father other than to simply try to embarrass me?”

The answer is that while the drug use of private citizen Hunter Biden did not affect the U.S. government, the drug use of congressmember Matt Gaetz did. In a healthy political system, political opposition would have called out his behavior long before he was tapped to become one of the most important figures in the government.

Crucially, in such a system, state law enforcement would have pursued Gaetz, and his own party would have dropped him like a hot potato long before it had to face commentary like that of progressive journalist Brian Tyler Cohen, who today wrote: “Congratulations to Mike Johnson for trying to pressure the House Ethics Committee into burying a report that found the then-nominee for attorney general had engaged in sexual activity with a minor. Party of Family Values, am I right?”

The Republicans’ determination to hold on to the government at all costs showed in a different story that broke this weekend. Representative Kay Granger (R-TX) has been absent from Congress since midsummer. On Sunday, Carlos Turcios of the Dallas Express reported that he found the 81-year-old representative in a memory care and assisted living home. In the months since she went missing, her staff continued to submit material to the Congressional Record, making it look like she was still active.

Chad Pergram of the Fox News Channel reported that a senior Republican source explained why Granger retained her seat despite her incapacity. Referring to what Pergram called “the paper-thin [Republican] House majority,” the source said: “Frankly, we needed the numbers.”

Granger’s condition has reignited the national conversation about the age and capacity of our lawmakers, an issue very much on the table for the 78-year-old president-elect, whose own behavior has been erratic for a while now.

On Sunday, Trump spoke at Turning Point’s AmericaFest in Phoenix, where, as Aaron Rupar of Public Notice recorded, he entered as if he were at a professional wrestling event. He proceeded to deliver a speech much like his campaign speeches.

It had an important new element in it, though, that he had pioneered on social media the night before. He claimed that Panama is not treating the U.S. well, and threatened that he will “demand that the Panama Canal be returned to the United States of America in full, quickly, and without question.” On Sunday he posted on social media that he wants Greenland too. “For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity.”

Panama’s president, José Raúl Mulino, responded that “every square meter of the Panama Canal and its adjacent zones is part of Panama, and it will continue to be. Our country’s sovereignty and independence are not negotiable.” Prime Minister Mute B. Egede of Greenland said: “Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom.”

To my knowledge, Trump never mentioned taking the Panama Canal or Greenland during the campaign, and such dramatic action will likely undermine the principle that countries can’t just take over weaker neighbors. This principle is central to the United Nations, which holds that territorial integrity and sovereignty are “sacrosanct” and that members “shall refrain…from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.” David Sanger and Lisa Friedman of the New York Times note that Trump’s aggression “reflects the instincts of a real estate developer who suddenly has the power of the world’s largest military to back up his negotiating strategy.”

In a healthy political system, pronouncements from an elderly president-elect that could upend 80 years of foreign policy would spark significant discussion from all quarters.

"Hard work, and Lots of promotion" Jamie, my manager says from where he just watched me look at the crowd.

"Your on in 1 minute by the way, they've finished soundcheck now."

"Okay. Al? last chance" I say which makes Alex pull his sunglasses down from his eyes "You don't need me, you'll be fine" He says before I shrug putting my in ears in and running out to the stage

"Readinnnng, how we fucking feeling" I shout running onto the stage. the Uproar from the crowd makes me cry

"you know when my manager booked me for this. I never ever imagined that there would this many of you. So thank you. This ones for you guys, for being such great fans, I wanna kiss you all" which was the perfect introduction to my first song of the set Kiss you

And Alex was true to his words, There he was side stage. Singing along to every word of my song.

As soon as I had finished my encore... and exited the stage I could hear people chanting for me to come back out "what do you think Y/n/n should we give them a run for their money" Matty asked me from where he joined me on the side of the stage, all rigged up for a performance. "Yeah okay I'll call you out in a minute"

"Okay, okay I can hear you from out there, you are all so loud. What do you say? one more song?" And I hear the loudest uproar from the crowd my in ears not even defending the sound anymore

"Okay, so here it is...spinning"

"found you at four in the morning. confidence soaring, thought you moved onto a new thing, but you keep it revolving. I look so good dressed in nothing. You ended up falling. I never needed your shelter. I'm good with no warning. My love like a city. All night everywhere. You love being with me. you never forget. 24/7 in heaven, you never forget. thought you'd get over the feeling." Is all I'm singing on my own before Matty comes out and joins in and the crowd a few meters from me is screaming, the lyrics back at me.

"but you just keep spinning over there. spinning over there." Matty and I sing together. The crowd joining in. and a few mosh pits happening from what I can see from the height of the stage.

"You must be feeling the pain." I sing

"You must be wondering" matty sings back we are just vibing, and all of my cares about whether the crowd would like me or not because I was just with one of my best friends doing what I loved.

"amphetamines in your brain" "maybe you're suffering" Matty sings at me with a shrug.

"I must be causing your pain I let you do the same"

"But you never regret a thing. Cause the game feels so good to win, darling" Matty and I sing together.

"Yeah, ooh, You just keep spinning" I sing by myself before Mattys joining back in for the chorus.

"My best friend taught me to sin, forgot that I had one, I'm on my knees and I pray, I shouldn't have mentioned, I'm back here after the states. Thought we could catch up. But I know that you fucking around. cause I know you're with it" Matty sang on his own, the crowd and alex from where he was stood backstage joining him. Before going back into the chorus with me one last time.

"thank you Reading, you've been fucking amazing." I say before running off the stage and running into Alex's arms hugging him and he's spinning me around and placing a chaste kiss on my lips

"How did I do?" I ask once he's put me back on the ground.

"You did fucking brilliant Y/n, It was amazing. I'm so proud of you" Alex says before I'm hugging him back, and we're running off to my tour bus.

About the Admin and Blog

Hello hello! I'm the Admin, I use (they/he/it) pronouns! For years I have read and consumed canon x reader insert content, and decided it's about time I give back to the community!

This is a multi fandom blog, with the blog changing with my interests! by default, though, Creepypasta is what I write when no interest is pushing me enough to right (and will continue to be the default for the foreseeable future, thanks to the fandom playing such a large role in my childhood)

This blog mainly focuses on short lists of headcannons for reader inserts, however occasionally scenarios will be posted as well as general headcannons!

I must say, I am not the best writer nor am I the best with characterization, so please note that some characters may be OOC

Below you can find what I write!

What I will write:

As of 12/24/23 I only take 1-3 characters per ask; any ask that exceeds that number will be put in the wheel to draw names to see who stays in the request

I write platonic, romantic, and found family

I will write most (descriptive)!readers however overly complex readers may be denied depending on the scenario

Typically I write hcs and scenarios!

You can ask for readers that are disabled or have a disorder but please note that while I will do research, I may not be able to get it perfect <\3

What I wont write:

Wont write any of the general no-no topics

This is more of a case by case thing depending on the ask and depending on my mental health at the time of it being sent, but I may not take requests for a reader who has been abvsed or s/hs

^ on the chance I do it will likely only be written as non vague/the harm is not being described in real time in the post + will be written strictly as comfort

I do not write NSFW, at most I will elude to something but nothing explicit

I do not write fics, those are for special occasion

I do not write canon x oc, due to me not feeling I can reliably portray the oc + this is where the overly complex described reader thing comes in, please do not try to trick me into this

As of December 2023 I do not take readers based off of existing media/canon characters unless I already know a character

If theres anything I'm not comfortable with I will let you know be it privately or by answering your ask

How to request:

Only send asks through the inbox, any asks sent through reblogs comments or dms will not be taken

Please only request one fandom per ask, if you want multiple fandoms please send in multiple asks

Please search the Masterlists to see if something similar to your request has been done before

I tend to write things and put them in a queue so as not to spam tags or the blog, so if your request is taking a new days to be posted that may be why! If you want to know what day your request is scheduled to be posted just ask!
