#De-aged Jing

Note
So de-age is a popular topic how ppl react to jing or nezha being de-aged? Or there partners.
maybe nezha has one of those lil kid crushes on mk and acts out for his attention. as overwhelmed the poor monkie is he's still trying to be patient and kind to kid nezha (considering he knows some about how he was treated) doing his best to keep him happy and less fiery.
Jing I feel like would be a bit bratty as well, not crazy like his son but definitely a bit of a trouble maker. Azure keeps switching between overwhelmed in terms of stress and in cuteness because awww lil jing is so cute and it's kinda funny because he and nezha look like twins almost.
And the reverse.
Nezha, he's super over the moon cause holy shit, baby monkey mk is so super soft and so cuddly! Lil minis surprisingly calm and quiet but very needy in that he wants to be attached to his favorite people and get pouty if left alone too long. Or he'll get adventurous and start climbing up every available surface and giggling while avoiding a frantic nezha trying to get him down from the high up area.
I feel like jing would have the same reaction of omg so smol and soft đ„ș. But I'm not sure if azure would be a troublesome cub or not lol
AWWWWWWW đ„șđ„șđ„ș
I LOVE the de-aging trope! Itâs so fun and is absolutely hilarious!
It wouldnât happen at once, but sort of that villain of the week that comes every few episodes and each time itâs a different character who gets hit with the evil ray.
Mk and Azure would be suprisingly easy, mostly just curious at every little thing and all the new people, but mostly low maintenance. Azure would be a little more adventurous, and would be glued to Jingâs side since the man smells like him. Mk would be a tad more cautious of Nezha, but in that âkid has a shy crushâ sort of way.
Nezha really wouldnât be that bad. Heâd recognize Jing(whoâd be able to mostly keep him under control) so thatâs a plus. It mostly depends on how young he is, which is usually about 3-4, is how heâll react to the others, though like mk heâd react more like a kid wish a shy crush. The biggest factor is weather or not his mom is alive.
Yin lives route: Shed be DELIGHTED that Nezha is young again, and she and Jing would just absolutely dote in the baby.
If Yin is deadâŠ. Well Jing tries to keep it from Nezha, but eventually Nezha gets tired and wants him mom, where is his mom? And Jing has to quietly break the news to him. (Mk has never seen Nezha cry quite so hard. The tiredness in Jingâs eyes, used to it, is just more heartbreaking)
De-aged Jing is an absolute brat. In the WORST way possible. Not like spoiled or entitled, but like actually a brat brat. Screaming, tantrums, kicking, biting, you name it, he does it.
Itâs actually a shock with how bad he is. The only people who can calm him down are Azure and, suprisingly, Wukong and macaque. Azure because obv baby crush. (Jing: flowa! (Hands Azure flowers) | Azure: awwww) but Wukong? And macaque?? Everyone is baffled to hell and back. But sure enough, Jing tries to start up a tantrum for some reason or another and-
Wukong, sternly: âNo. We do not act that way.â
Jing: (Goes get quiet)
Pigsy: âThat worked?!?â
Jing is especially clingy, which confuses and mildly concerns the monkies. The others find the whole thing hilarious, since itâs usually the monkies who antagonize Jing the most. But they figure it out soon enough.
They were in the middle of eating noodles at Pigsyâs, with Jing refusing to leave Wukongs lap, when Macawue went to get up and do something. Jing abruptly reached his hands out to the Monkie almost in a panic and yelled:
âMama!â
The whole shop goes silent, and Wukong has to hold back his laughter at the mortified look in Macaques face. Macaque takes the kid before he h a throw a tantrum, but is still pretty shell shocked. Nezha is dying, both in horror and in laughter.
Macaque: âQuit laughing!â
Wukong: âI canât help it! Itâs too damn funny!â
Pigsy: âLanguage.â
Jing: âBad Daddy! No bad words!â
Wukong: âDADDY?!â
Wukong is even more horrified than Macaque! This time nobody hides their laughter. Thankfully Once back to normal none of them really remember it. But questions still remain.
Wukong: âSo, when you ere still a baby-â
Jing, nursing some tea for the headache: âHere we go-â
Wukong: âYou kind of, well, referred to me as your⊠dad? Any idea why?â
Jing: (Heavy sigh) âMy father was redheaded, but I get my black hair from my mother.â
Wukong, confused: âReadhead-??â
It leaves even more questions. Because while yes, red hair did exist in china at the time⊠it was the sleficic shade of orange that concerned him. And it makes them wonder about who Jingâs dad really wasâŠ
(But yeah I love de-aged their all so cute đ„°)

i ended up drafting an outline for a dan heng character analysis last night but i dont have to the time (yet) to actually write it. it was gonna be trauma/mental illness study but i think im gonna attempt to answer the one question that everyone keeps debating: are dan feng & dan heng different people?
"dan heng's whole character arc is him separating himself from dan feng" this "dan heng is still dan feng no matter how much he tries to create his own identity" that. you're both wrong and in this essay i will-
#my biggest pet peeve is when ppl say his whole arc is him separating himself from dan feng to be his own person#dan heng's whole arc is him coming to terms that dan feng IS his past but that wont stop him from making his own path forward#dan heng trying to separate himself from dan feng completely pre-game is what was keeping him from moving forward#he was physically and metaphorically running away from it#he IS dan feng more so than just his past incarnation since dan heng is literally de-aged dan feng (hatching rebirth v molting rebirth)#he cannot deny this but that doesn't mean he can't move forward as him own individual#dont even get me started on how the preceptors literally groomed him into hating df#so that they could mold dh into a high elder that wouldn't disobey like df did but still have his power#which is why jing yuan pushed so hard for dh to be exiled over any other punishment#yappin

Iâve seen people complain before that hualian doesnât need sexual themes in it and that it would be fine (or better) without it, and this opinion is completely valid to have and itâs completely fine to ignore the sexual themes to better your own enjoyment if it adds to the individual experience, though I also think itâs important to acknowledge sometimes that hualian does have a sexual relationship and that those sexual themes are prevalent throughout the novel and itâs okay for this to be the case. My personal opinion is that I think these themes are really cool and actually help us gauge character growth in a plot relevant way, especially for Xie Lian.
(Some book 7/8 spoilers ahead)
Along these lines, Iâve also seen people question why Jun Wu is so fixated on Xie Lianâs virginity. Itâs true that it feels like a weird and specific thing to fixate on, though Iâm sure the plot relevant answer to that has to do with Xie Lianâs cultivation. His cultivation style requires a pure mind and body, and maintaining cultivation rewards one with more spiritual energy. The short and simple answer is that by ruining his cultivation Xie Lian will be weakened in both power and mind, and attacking his virginity is the fastest route to achieve this (such as in the land of the tenders). As true as this is though, it really isnât everything. Remember that Xie Lian begged to join the temple before he was of age because he was so determined to start cultivation. Not only did he take it extremely seriously, but his commitment to cultivation was one of the reasons (besides hating his dad) that he basically lived at the temple and wouldnât come home for months at a time. Otherwise, he never found interest in consorts or getting married and starts chanting Dao De Jing if he even suspects something has the potential to start messing with him in order to maintain his steady heart and pure soul. Thus, cultivation is fun and rewarding to him.
This was before and during ascension, but what about after? After his second banishment, I honestly canât imagine heâs actually trying to ascend again, so why cultivate?
Isnât the answer there just because wants to?
At its heart, Xie Lianâs cultivation is something that seems to help ground him; it makes him feel comfortable and gives him something to focus on. Furthermore, itâs one of the last things Xie Lian actually has control over, isnât it? Especially after falling so far into despair during his first banishment, cultivating is his way of rebuilding and holding on to himself, like a way of healing.
Thus, as it coincides with his cultivation, virginity is also extremely important to Xie Lian, simply because he chooses for it to be. Maintaining these principles is one of the main things that makes him feel like heâs still doing okay and is still in control.
All that being said, why did Jun Wu have a virginity detecting sword? If we really want to speculate a Xie Lian-centric answer to this, letâs establish that Jun Wu knows enough about Xie Lian to understand his individual relationship to cultivation. If Xie Lian is not a virgin during the Lan Chang in heaven scene, that means he has broken his cultivation. If Xie Lianâs cultivation is broken and he is genuinely unbothered by it, that means that Xie Lian has grown into a different, much stronger person than Jun Wu anticipated. It also means that controlling him by targeting his cultivation/virginity specifically isnât going to be as effective as it might have been in the past. Thatâs what I think makes it matter so much to Jun Wu strictly from a plot perspective.
Following this logic can take us further too, because everybody who read extra chapters knows that Xie Lian does NOT leave this plot a virgin, but heâs very okay about it, which is also not at all where he starts. Xie Lianâs relationship with his own sexual nature is something that is constantly evolving throughout the novel, and itâs something that he struggles with tremendously that causes him a lot of torment whenever itâs challenged. Impurity isnât just bad to him, it starts off as nearly catastrophic. As he learns to accept his feelings for Hua Cheng though, he starts to come to terms with that side of himself, as hard as it is for him to accept it.
Suddenly this scene (from the clearnoodle translation of the revised) comes to mind:
The whole alcohol scene is easy to play off as a mix of silly virginity joke and desperate need for a diversion, but thereâs a lot of good stuff here. The first part clearly shows his stance about cultivation and where his priorities lie (in which absolute celibacy is more important than absolute sobriety). The second part, Hua Chengâs response, is something like foreshadowing, isnât it?
âOkay. However, I think that the Tao follows nature, and precepts and abstinences are inconsistent with Taoistsâ free nature. What do you think, gege?â
If breaking his cultivation would be like losing a pillar of support, then his ability to rely on Hua Cheng is like adding another impenetrable, immovable, unbreakable pillar of infinite support. If he doesnât have to worry about losing himself through indulgence becuase of this new immovable pillarâŠ.then whatâs there to be afraid of? Isnât he free to explore how he pleases?
If Xie Lian can break his cultivation without breaking his spirit, this symbolizes the ultimate growth and reclamation of power over himself. Thatâs why Xie Lianâs sexuality is something I think is extremely significant to both him and the story overall. He spends so much time tied down to the expectations he has of himself, but by the end of the novel he really does get literally and figuratively freed from this. Who knew it could all tie back to his virginity! Regardless, letâs take this as a psa that sexual stories are good and deserve to be told just as much as non sexual ones. Xie Lian DESERVES his freaky ghost sex and is in fact an icon of healing and growth for it!

Story-idea: de-aged OG!SQQ
(eventual Liu Qingge/Yue Qingyuan/Shen Qingqiu)
Can't be the only one who'd love to see a de-aged, amnesiac Shen Qingqiu bite someone's hand out of possessive over-protectiveness, because they dared to threaten (or just touch) Yue Qingyuan. Especially if most of the other peak lords see this.
Anyway, this is what sparked this story idea.
Shen Qingqiu hasn't been well for a while already and then gets into a big argument during a peak lord meeting, which causes him to suffer a qi-deviation. He ends up de-aged to his 12 or 13 year old self and only remembers what happened up to that point.
And holy shit, this is very clearly the opposite of a spoiled rich kid. He's malnourished, neglected and possibly mistreated. He also clearly speaks (and curses) like a street urchin. It's a pretty big shock to his fellow peak lords.
Except for Yue Qingyuan, who immediately tries shielding him from the others. Which isn't going too well at first, seeing how tall, strong men usually spell danger to Shen Jiu. Some of the others try with the best of intentions to get a hold of him to prevent more harm, like him tripping off the rainbow bridge or having an even worse qi-deviation etc. But naturally he's trying to run away from everyone who does. It gets very chaotic, until Yue Qingyuan draws Xuan Su an inch out of its sheath and stops any further shenanigans.
After that, Shen Jiu has a good look at his face and recognizes him as the adult Qi-ge. That Shen Jiu is still wearing (and tripping over) his own too big robes makes it easier for him to believe that he somehow de-aged. Then he pretty much hides in Yue Qingyuan's embrace.
Everyone always questioned why the sect leader is so partial toward Shen Qingqiu and how they first met. Now, with how they interact, they strongly suspect the two grew up together. Which means everyone realizes that Yue Qingyuan is likely a former street child as well. Contrary to Yue Qingyuan's expectations this actually makes them more appreciative of his accomplishments and friendship.
But now Mu Qingfang has to make sure drawing Xuan Su didn't cause lingering damage. Which in turn makes Shen Qingqiu question what's wrong. He's only getting an abridged version, but that's already enough for extreme concern and vile curses against Yue Qingyuan's shizun. Everyone is really shocked and baffled how much he actually cares about the person he usually couldn't even speak five phrases to before flying off the handle.
As for Shen Qingqiu, his qi-deviation was severe. No one can say for sure whether the de-aging will revert back or is permanent. For the time being it's best to assume it's the latter. He has to completely start over with his cultivation. And here comes the next big surprise for the others â Shen Qingqiu has outstanding talent. No wonder he was so salty about his comparably mediocre abilities before...
He can't perform his peak lord duties until he trained up to it again. Qing Jing is run by teachers, hallmasters and occasionally the other peak lords. There are no new disciples accepted and Shen Qingqiu is re-tracing and re-learning most things from his personal library. Most of the time he is on Qiong Ding, partly because he wants to be close to Qi-ge and partly because Yue Qingyuan is too worried to leave him alone on Qing Jing. It's also awesome for both to just enjoy being together without the misunderstandings and resentment poisoning them. Finally everything seems to go well.
Shen Qingqiu can't help admiring his Qi-ge. He's become so much more attractive as an adult. He already was in love before, but now these feelings get a lot more pronounced over the years.
Then Liu Qingge decides to teach Shen Qingqiu proper fight etiquette and gets more than he bargained for. Because Shen Qingqiu unexpectedly develops feelings for him as well. Instead of a treacherous viper threatening to kill him, he now seemingly has a smitten troublesome gremlin hell-bent on future marriage to deal with. Hearing that Shen Qingqiu is exclusively into men is yet again flipping assumptions about him.
Shen Qingqiu is rather torn about having feelings for someone other than Qi-ge in the beginning. But then he decides he wants both! He has always been greedy, why stop now? It doesn't take much convincing for Yue Qingyuan to agree to marry him later. Liu Qingge is a harder nut to crack, but he's immortal and Shen Qingqiu will be soon again as well, so he's ready for a long courtship.
When Luo Binghe joins the sect, he's accepted into Qiong Ding. He and Shen Qingqiu have a complicated relationship. Luo Binghe is very confused and a bit intimidated by knowing this teenager, who is only a few years older than him, is a peak lord who had an accident. And Shen Qingqiu thinks Luo Binghe is too naive and a pushover who needs to learn to stand up for himself. His brand of tough love and help is sadly sparking feelings in Luo Binghe that will ultimately stay unrequited.
Shen Qingqiu's courtship of Liu Qingge naturally includes gifts. Among other things a trinket of some kind that alerts him should Liu Qingge be in trouble. He has to more or less be bullied into taking it with him into the Lingxi caves, but it ends up saving his life. Shen Qingqiu knows something bad happens the moment the qi-deviation starts and he can alert Yue Qingyuan to go in and help. This finally fully convinces Liu Qingge that the courting isn't a long-running ploy. He's more receptive to the courting after this, even though the whole situation is still very strange.
Sha Hualing attacks the sect and is pretty handily defeated in the three matches. Shen Qingqiu wins the first fight, Luo Binghe is eager to impress him and barges in to fight Sha Hualing. Since he's very well trained, he wins. Shen Qingqiu sent a message to Liu Qingge as soon as the attack happened and he rushes out of seclusion to arrive just in time to easily win the third match and, with the combined attack of the others, chase the rest of the demons away.
Shen Qingqiu is drawn into Luo Binghe's dream realm and aids him, thus inadvertently strengthening Luo Binghe's romantic feelings towards him. Shen Qingqiu has no idea this is the case.
Shen Qingqiu accompanies Liu Qingge on his hunts and missions quite often. It's good practice for Shen Qingqiu's duties and opportunity to get closer. Yue Qingyuan and Liu Qingge get more fond of each other as well during this time. This makes Shen Qingqiu stress over losing both at first, but once they reassure him they intend to marry him as well as each other, this is alright for him.
Years later, both Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe are attending the Immortal Alliance Conference. Binghe's seal breaks and a cultivator from another sect attacks Binghe upon seeing him. Shen Qingqiu by chance arrives and knocks the cultivator out from behind. After thinking of ways to get Binghe out and realizing there's no way this could work without others noticing that he's a demon and getting the wrong ideas, he urges Binghe to jump into the Endless Abyss. His main concern is not so much Luo Binghe staying alive, but keeping Qi-ge and Liu Qingge safe. He's sure that would be in jeopardy with the sect under scrutiny for harboring a demon and consequently being suspected of responsibility for sabotaging the conference. Eventually Binghe does as he says.
When Shen Qingqiu turns 20 or 21 he is ready to take charge of Qing Jing peak again. Soon after, he, Yue Qingyuan and Liu Qingge marry.
Binghe comes back after three years and intends to propose to Shen Qingqiu, only to find he's too late.
Obviously this could lead to more drama or even another addition to the marriage. But I personally am really fond of Binghe/Vinegar and him pining in vain, so...ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ

Sonder: Part I
Parts: I II III IV V
member: enhypen heeseung! x oc! woo ki yeom [3rd person pov]
genre: coming of age, slice of life, angst, romance
w/c: 5k
warnings: topics on religion, distressed relationships, mental health (I want to leave an a/n here that I grew up with my maternal family being Buddhists so what I've written is based off what I researched online and the way her family practised Buddhism. I'm personally a free-tinker and this narrative is not in any way meant to offend nor support any particular religion.)
synopsis: after being kicked out of her home, Woo Ki Yeom is forced to live life on her own. struggling to find herself in the midst of her chaotic life, she meets lee heeseung, who, like her, can't give any more fucks to life than she does.
"n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own."
That word. That keeps coming out on Instagram pages and TikTok videos.
It's a strange feeling to know that everybody else in here was living their own lives. Maybe they were going through a breakup, or someone in their family had just passed away. Perhaps their pet ran from home or a trip just got cancelled because their travel buddy fell sick.
It's fascinating at first - but you get bored by it after some time. And even if you didn't, Woo Ki Yeom did.
It's not like it was difficult to figure out how to vacuum your room or do your own hair. Nor was it difficult to figure out how this washing machine operated, though Ki Yeom must admit that it took her a couple of minutes to get it down. But now, all she does is give it a good smack to the side when it doesn't start up.
"wo gen ni jiang (I'm telling you), one day you're going to smack it until it's spoilt!" The owner of the laundromat nags from the payment counter. He's a man in his 50s - Ki Yeom likes to think Mr Hsien is an alternate-dimension version of Eve from the film, Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. He clearly hates this life, and the only time Ki Yeom has seen his wife was when he was sick and couldn't run the place himself.
Mrs Hsien is just about ten times sweeter than he is - which Ki Yeom recalls - she didn't respond that well to.
She must think Ki Yeom is an asshole.
Then again, Ki Yeom knows for a fact that she is one.
"Then you'll finally come around to your senses and get it changed. I just found a coin from the 1930s the other day in my load."
"Do you know change washing machine how expensive?" Mr Hsien rambles on, looking through his glasses that were so far down his nose bridge, Ki Yeom thinks it might just slide right off. In his hands were dollar bills. "shi yi ge yue de qian (It's a month's worth of money)! From everybody that comes here."
She doesn't bother responding - no need to, unless she wants to start a debate.
"All day gloomy," Mr Hsien mumbles under his breath. She dumps herself in the row of chairs right out the door as he aligns the dollar bills and goes to unlock the door. "My wife say gloomy not good. tai duo yin (too much yin)."
His voice is slightly muffled, since his entire body is hidden behind the counter as he hides his money. After a few moments, his hand comes to grip the edge of the counter as he pulls himself up to stand, then he takes a deep breath and sighs as if it took him a bountiful amount of energy to get up. But he looks outwards at Ki Yeom and wiggles a finger at her.
"Are you listening to me?" He shakes his head, processing Ki Yeom just looking down at her phone.
Yes.
"You know, Chinese people always think young people who don't respond are very rude. If you were my daughter, wo yi jing hui ma si ni ah (I would've already scolded you to death)."
He grumbles as he pushes himself out the little door by his counter and waddles for the storage door.
"You shout for me if anything weird happen outside. I'm going to da bian (poop)."
Ki Yeom connects the bluetooth headphones to her phone and adjusts it over her head as the door swings shut.
It was a quiet Wednesday night.
Ki Yeom liked to do her laundry in the middle of the week because there aren't many people around, and she didn't have to wait for strangers to come clear the washing machines before she could use them. She didn't have to talk to strangers - which came as a surprise to her when she first moved here. She never understood why people would just randomly strike up conversations.
What was the point of knowing so much about someone's life when you're probably never going to see this person again?
But it's ironic that Ki Yeom has found comfort in a familiar place, enough to fall asleep. Even if Mr Hsien were to walk right out that storage door and finds her nodding off in her awkward sitting upright position, she knew he wouldn't wake her up. She knows, because it's not the first time she's passed out from a day's work.
Sometimes, Ki Yeom gets her inspiration from her dreams. One would be surprised how much she dreamt - because that meant that she could wake up feeling like she never slept. At some point, Ki Yeom was convinced that she was part of a cult by blood, because strange symbols, shapes, and creatures kept appearing in her dreams. She would draw them out and then go to the library to find anything on them, but to no avail.
Sometimes she blames this on her family.
But this 'gift' does her well at work, especially when the clientele of the tattoo parlour she works at are avid fans of the rare and uncommon.
Because of the number of clients who have grown fond of her artistry, she's been requested more than the average tattoo artist at the parlour she works at. Ki Yeom had been advised not to bite off more than she can chew, but it's not like she has any financial help or alot of money in the first place, so why not?
At least, not after she was kicked out of her own home.
In her busiest week, she spent four nights sleeping in the parlour, and had licorice and coffee for breakfast, a chicken salad for lunch and instant noodles for dinner on one of those days. And that wasn't even the worst meal combination she's had.
Some of her colleagues are kind - the ones who leave her blankets and buy her coffee and bread in the morning when they clock in. Others? Not so much.
"Too young." "Inexperienced." "Greedy." "Hard-up."
She's heard those too many times to feel a thing. It's also because she knows they're true. But it's not her fault she's greedy.
What's wrong with it?
Greed usually comes hand-in-hand with desperation, even if it weren't for a good cause. Greed comes with knowing how it feels when you lack something. Ki Yeom's greed stems from her lack of money, and is that her fault?
No.
She finally jerks awake from her evening nap when a loud thud manages to get past her headphones. Blurry vision still taking some time to clear, she's able to make out Mr Hsien frantically grabbing a rag and cleaning off the counter top. Tea was dripping off the edge.
Just by the movement of his mouth, she can tell he's rambling off about being such a clumsy old man.
She sits up and stretches her neck, feeling the ache when she pulls it the opposite way she was dosing off in. A slight frown, and then in the corner of her eye, she notices someone had taken a seat on the other end of the five-seater row of seats.
It was someone probably her age, maybe younger. But she returns her attention to Mr Hsien finishing the rest of his tea and walking round the counter, grabbing some dry tissues to clean up the remaining on the floor.
Then she catches the stranger glancing in her direction, as if wanting to say something - and then she realises that her music isn't playing.Â
She fumbles her lap for her phone, then finds it on the floor right under the seat. The stranger seems to sit with ease now that she's picked it up. She almost finds it embarrassing when she tries to reconnect her bluetooth, but is interrupted by the washing machine she was using finally beeping to indicate that it was done.Â
Ki Yeom clears her throat and gets up to the washing machine, yanking the worn-out door open. Gathering the damp clothes in her arms she tosses it into a dryer. She instinctively feels around her pockets to find the token she had paid in exchange for it, but her mood is slightly ruined when she can't find it.Â
Mr Hsien is no longer in the counter, so she assumes he had gone to the back, berating himself for being clumsy, so she looks around the floor. Perhaps she might find a stray one sitting somewhere.Â
She returns to the dryer, defeated. No, actually, she's too tired to be annoyed. Sliding the headphones off her head, Ki Yeom sighs to herself and rolls her eyes.Â
But a soft 'tick' rings quickly across the surface of the dryer, and she looks up to see the stranger turning his back on her. The token sits on the white-turned-grey surface of the dryer next to the one she was throwing her mental tantrum at.Â
Ki Yeom builds up the care to speak.
"It's fine but I'll just wait for him to come back out."Â
He sits anyway, leaning back coyly and looking at her with a lack of expression. "I'm trying to collect karma points, so don't take it personally. Maybe another day if we see each other."
As if I'm going to see you another day.Â
But Ki Yeom is not someone who rejects something when she needs it.Â
"Thanks," The word is almost reluctant to come out. Without hesitation, she chucks it into the coin slit of the dryer and it tumbles down into a bed of tokens. She hunches over the dryer and jabs the buttons - sometimes they don't work very well either.
Ki Yeom hadn't always been like this. In fact, she was one of those kids who could plug in her earpieces over dinner and watch her favourite shows and her parents wouldn't say anything about it, because she knew to take them out when the food came.
Sometimes, her parents would join in on the fun of watching whatever show it was she was watching.
But what truly set her family apart from the average family was that her parents were devoted Buddhists. Karma, Liberation, Meditation... Honestly, Ki Yeom never understood what it truly meant until she hit her teenage years, and even then, her understanding of it didn't last very long.
It was a unique, and an admittable forceful, way of which Ki Yeom fell out with her family. As individuals who believed so much in karma, they had the tradition of donating large sums of money to the temple they frequented. They went vegetarian, prayed, kept a kind heart to whomever it was they met - and then her father was left jobless when the company he was working for got involved in an embezzling scandal.
Ki Yeom, at the age of sixteen, had witnessed her father go from the proud family man he was, to someone who stayed in bed all day, afraid to go out, in fear that he would have to open his empty wallet.
The anxiety became crippling and her father had developed depression upon the rippling news that he couldn't be accepted into other jobs because of his niche and limited experience and that he was too old.
At sixteen, when you've spent most of your life trying to understand and believe the ways of which your family has led their lives by, you'd be confused. Why was this happening? Have we not done enough?
What was once a home filled with laughter, comfort and encouragement, turned into a home that scrimped and saved every penny - even spending some nights without any electricity and relying purely on candles.
There was a gradual build-up of resentment on Ki Yeom's heart.
She had gone three years living off the meagre five dollars a day - and when you're in school with friends who find going to Starbucks and getting bubble tea an enjoyable past time, it's difficult. Even if they were understanding and chose not to go to either of those options, it was inevitable that Ki Yeom felt like it was her fault they couldn't go.
Just where in the world did all that money go? All the good karma points they were trying to accumulate? What happened to my God?
Ki Yeom had just graduated from pre-u. She wonders how she even managed to graduate, in the midst of all that falling apart at home, when it happened.
She had reached home after a day's work at the restaurant. As a waitress, she's grown numb to all the ridiculous comments and issues that customers bring up to her, if she were even paying attention.
So, all Ki Yeom wished was for a quiet dinner, a quiet evening and a quiet night to herself. She could crawl in bed and hug her pillows and scroll on her phone until she passed out, and then her day would start from scratch again.
But upon reaching home, she's not given enough time to respond - Especially when the things in her room seemed to be in the midst of removal. By strangers.
"What's going on?"
Her mother follows them out of the room as the movers trudge past her - and out of the house. "Ki, I'm sorry, we'll have to make do-"
"With... what? The floor?"
"You know how hard it's been, we just had to do this for the extra cash."
"How long is this 'cash' going to last us?" Ki Yeom puts her tote down, pushing past her mother and looking into the room. What used to be a cozy room with a bed, a desk, a standing lamp and even a beanbag was now a mattress, a makeshift table and a table lamp.
Ki Yeom turns around, at a complete loss of words. "You literally sold my room."
The elder stands, facing the door because she cannot face her daughter.
Ki Yeom gulps, feeling this intense heat coming up from within her. It feels like she's about to cry, but also wants to vomit and scream at the same time. "How much is selling my room going to make?"
"Ki-"
"How. Much?"
A pause. There's some knocking and rustling outside as they wrap the furniture in bubble wrap. Someone yells at someone else to hand her the money.
"Enough for a couple of weeks."
Ki Yeom sighs heavily, not knowing she was even holding her breath. Then, she coughs and almost hyperventilates. A scoff. Then, a strangled growl, like she was about to throw herself out the window, and the tears start to clog her eyesight.
She watches as her mother receives the thin stack of fifty dollar bills, and the man doesn't give them one last look before leaving.
There's a painful silence in the house when Ki Yeom squats. And when her feet become numb, she drops to the floor with her back hitting the wall.
"I'm sorry, Ki," Her mother turns and sniffles, shoving the fifty dollar bills into her backpocket. She squats, trying to look at Ki Yeom. But her daughter's head is hung low, for she has taken her final sanctuary.
"I don't understand... how this was an option. I'm working. And aren't you and dad trying to find jobs? Aren't you working?"
"I know... and we are... we just... we have nothing."
"What about grandpa? Hasn't he offered to help? At this stage... you want me to believe he hasn't offered any type of help?"
Her mother goes quiet, only taking a deep breath and sitting on her rear as well.
"What? What does that mean?" Ki Yeom frowns, tears finally dribbling down her cheeks as she struggles to understand. "Is he so heartless... that he cannot give us some to get by until something... better comes along?"
"Ki, we've been like this for years..."
"Which makes me wonder why he hasn't helped?"
Silence.
Ki Yeom frowns. "Does he even know?"
Her mother looks up at her through disheveled hair.
"How could he not know?"
"Ki, he knows. We just... you know the rules we live by."
Ki Yeom audibly gasps and chokes in horror. Her stomach drops in disbelief. "Rules? We are sleeping on the floor, our lights are candles and the table lamps are on the floor... we eat instant food two out of three meals and you're telling me... that out of filial piety... you did not accept his help?!"
Silence.
There's an eerie quietness in the home. Of course, atop the screaming in Ki Yeom's head and the traffic outside her home. Her vision is blurring from the tears, but she looks around her dark home, once brightly lit, and her vision ends on the orange-red glow eminating from the altar right next to the front door of her house. It's wide open, so the wind coming through was making the little flames on the candles flicker.
It's been untouched, only routinely cleaned and the oils thrown and replaced. Ki Yeom clenches her jaw, trying for a moment to resist the urge.
But to everyone's devastating shock and surprice, Ki Yeom harshly swipes her entire arm across the reachable counter top, spilling the cups of oil holding the candles and the incense sticks out of their packets.
Her mother quite literally screams and rushes over, yanking her away from the mess.
Smack!
The ringing is sharp in Ki Yeom's right ear as she processses the sting on her cheek, jaw and head. In the corner of her eye, she can see her mother is more surprised than she was. But this surprise is quickly replaced with anger and intense disapproval, so much to the point that her mother pushes past her and squats to pick up the items.
Ki Yeom's heart shatters.
She gulps, thinking if she should help. But her mother shoves her off, as if scared to be touched by her.
"Mom."
The clatter on the floor is gentle and quiet, and her mother is careful not to touch any of the shattered glass. Ki Yeom grimly squats by her and reaches for it, but rejection shoves her backwards on her rear when her mother pushes her away. She loses her balance and falls backwards, hands on the floor and her tears dribbling down her cheek.
Her mother's face is like rock - expressionless, tired. Helpless. Speechless.
Ki Yeom's face was starting to burn up.
"Mom-"
"Get out," She stops her cleaning and stares at the floor.
Honk.
"What?"
"You want so badly to do things your own way... and cannot agree with what we believe in... so pack your things and get out."
She resumes her cleaning up, taking the smaller, shattered pieces and placing them on the altar. While Ki Yeom remains on the floor, her mother squats, picks up whatever her hands can carry, and returns them to the altar. Again, and again.
"Mom, I- Please. How can you live like this?!"
The weight in Ki Yeom's knees start to shake her thighs when she kneels, dragging herself to her mother's feet. She hangs her head low, vision blurry and her head in a whirl. "We prayed to a God for years... my entire life... and we believed in everything we studied... Why were we not returned with the karma we always thought we've been collecting? Why did we pray and pray and yet nothing came along to help?"
Ki Yeom looks up, hair in her mouth and in her eyes as she manages to make out her mother placing the shattered cups back into position.
"Do not speak of Him that way," She whispers under her breath, opening a drawer and pulling out a lighter for the incense sticks. "He is always watching us... and He will help when the time is right."
Ki Yeom finally breaks apart in her own demeanour, sobbing and releasing her mother's clothes.
How can she choose a God, a deity... over her own daughter?
Her mother bows thrice, and sticks the incense stick in the incense pot. "I didn't sell your luggage. You can use that."
Ki Yeom looks up from the floor again, in disbelief those exact words came out of her mouth.
"I expect you gone by tomorrow morning," She turns and walks away, but stops and turns around for a second. "Nobody in my house will disrespect Him."
Ki Yeom had completely blocked out whatever her client was talking about - something to do with work. Her colleagues. Ki Yeom couldn't give any more fucks.
But she sits up to stretch her neck and back and notices in the reflection in one of the mirrors in her workspace a familiar back and a bald head.
She finishes up quickly, not bothering to acknowledge anything that her client has said. "Jun Yeol, can you help me tape her? I- yeah."
Instantly, the pink-haired boy turns around to look out the window. "Go. I got it from here."
"Chargeable list is on my desk. Thanks."
The bell on the door rings as she pushes her way out. She sucks in a deep breath, thinking of what to say again when their eyes finally meet. But out comes a rude and unnecessary: "What are you doing here? I told you not to look for me here."
For a moment, she feels bad. But her grandfather's retort is a reminder that she inherited her attitude from someone.
"I go wherever I want to!" He struggles to get up from the chair they've placed outside the tattoo shop for when there was a queue.
"Sit down!" Ki Yeom rushes over and pushes him back down by his shoulders, making sure to take a seat next to him so he didn't need to stand up again.
"I figured out how to make your mum's soup. The melon wolfberry one."
Ki Yeom looks down as he hands her the cotton bag that perfectly fits a thermal flask.
"You don't like cooking."
"I don't. It gets everywhere and there's a ton of pots and bowls and spoons to wash."
He shoves it into her lap, and huffs while wiping the sweat off his forehead.
"Let me call you a cab."
"Cabs are expensive, don't you dare."
"I'd rather have someone send you home safe than have you pass out on the way back."
"And if I'm destined to die today, I will pass out anyway, won't I?"
The harshness and brutality of his words summon a glare from her. She wants to berate him for being so careless with his thoughts - afterall, she did grow up around the theory of manifestation of karma. And she knows for a fact her grumpy old grandfather might not have that much good karma left.
"Are you earning enough? For yourself? For your rent?"
She sighs and hugs the thermal flask to her stomach. The doorbell rings and her client walks out, turning to say thanks and goodbye.
"I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
"Is it safe? Where you're staying?"
"We've been through this. There's a security guard on the first floor and you can't go up without a keycard."
"People out there nowadays are terrifying, have you seen? All these gadgets and hidden cameras!"
"I know, I know, but the estate is safe. Don't worry about me," Ki Yeom rubs her eye. Both of them go quiet for a minute. She's listening to the grumble of the asphalt as the cars go by, and she knows her grandfather is thinking about the other questions he had prepared before coming out to meet her.Â
"If you're wondering whether they've reached out... they haven't. And I'm not planning on doing it first."
"I didn't ask you to, and I know you wouldn't."
They go silent once more, but the silence is broken by the bell hanging on the front door of the tattoo parlour.Â
"Ki, a client called and said she's on the way but she's early for an appointment."
She looks down at her phone for the time. "Yeah, she's supposed come in at 4pm."
"Aight, call me if you need anything," Soo Min smiles at the elderly man, who seems awkward when he tries to return the acknowledgement. The bell rings again when she returns back into the parlour.
"Thanks," Ki Yeom waits for her to go back in before she smiles to herself. "You can just say 'hi'. She's a nice person."
"Her short hair scares me abit. Reminds me of the gangsters and hooligans that run around on the street and in back alleys back in my time," He pauses, realising Ki Yeom's disapproving looks. He clears his throat. "Do the people here treat you well? The last time you told me some of them aren't fond of you."
"Well, it's still the same. It's not like I'm going to try and change their minds about me. I earn my share and they earn theirs."
Grandfather nods and hums in acknowledgement. "You know... sometimes I think you're meant to come out and live your life on your own. I believe you were made for the streets - in a good way - and that you learn and meet so many new people outside of a comfort zone. It's something that the rich and wealthy don't get to have."
There's a gentle gush of wind that rushes through the corridor. The rows of shop along this road were in their not-so-busy afternoon period, but Ki Yeom could still make out that barista who got her order wrong a couple of days ago cleaning up the table along the corridor. And that hair stylist who supposedly cut someone's hair too short and almost got sued.
"Right," She responds first. "But I wasn't given a choice. Would've loved to have one."
Ki Yeom turns back to look at her grandfather. His wrinkles have gotten deeper, longer. She knows he won't be around much longer to be the parent that she lost. Unlocking her phone, she opens the taxi cab.
"Oi!"
Since her 4pm client had come early and Ki Yeom had gotten the job done early, she'd decided that she no longer had the mental capacity to stay anymore - besides, she works on appointment-only basis now anyway.
So amidst all the skanky, judgy looks she gets from the other tattoo artists who don't get as many requests as she does, she bids Jun Yeol and Soo Min goodbye. The evening sun greets her as the evening crowd begins to fill the surrounding cafes, coffee shops and other places that people go to.
She walks by the coffee cafe, and catches the eye of that barista who fucked up her order. She waves.
The barista, of course.
But Ki Yeom feels obligated to at least offer a smile, so she does, and proceeds on her way.
Finally in the comfort of her home, she drops her bag and opens her fridge, eyeing the half-eaten packet of frozen dumplings, miso paste and frozen udon. Ever since she's moved out, she had the freedom to test out whatever stupid recipes TikTok and Instagram had to offer that required three ingredients.
Well, provided she had the equipment - which was a pot, a pan, a mini rice cooker and an air-fryer that the tattoo parlour wanted to get rid of. Honestly, she hasn't used it because she's been afraid it would explode if she did, but it just seemed like a waste if she let them throw it away.
She prepares the miso soup while waiting for the dumplings and udon to defrost first - then the unusual happens.
Knock knock.
Ki Yeom frowns to herself, and mentally checks through all the bills and finances she has to settle. Rent? Not due in another three weeks. Credit card? Haven't touched it. Delivery? Haven't ordered anything.
Knock knock knock.
She turns the stove off and goes for the door, looking through the peephole.
It's the kid from the laundromat.
Perhaps he came to even out the debt.
Ki Yeom opens the door.
"Oh," He seems surprised. "It's you."
"If you're here for the token, I don't have any extra to return. I can pay you a couple of cents or a dollar for it if you're insistent."
"Uh," Gently shaking his head, he simply lifts a hand, and in it, there was an envelope. "This came in my mail. I think they wrote the address wrongly."
She looks at the envelope, and sees her name but with the unit 07-33 instead of hers, 07-38.
"I figured eight just seemed the most similar to three, so. Are you... Woo Ki Yeom?"
"Yeah, thanks," She blinks and reaches out for it.
"Mail's not that common nowadays," He nods towards the envelope. "They don't have your number or email?"
There's an attempt to chuckle, or make a joke. But Ki Yeom doesn't bother responding, only tearing it open and pulling the letter out.
"Yeah, they don't have my number or my email."
The boy clears his throat out of awkwardness. "Oh."
Ki Yeom straightens out the letter right infront of him. As much as she wants to forget that her parents ever existed, she knows she can't. She's been trying - which is why she changed her emails, her phone number, and didn't provide their names to the building's management for "allowed visitors".
Futile efforts - that's what they were. She might be able to change the way she thought but her heart can't forget. Her father used to tell her that the heart always knows what's right, but what he didn't tell her was how to deal with it when she doesn't want to.
Dear Ki,
I'm writing to share that I've gotten a job.
Instantly, she folds the letter back up and shoves it back in the envelope. Her blood boils.
Why did it matter if her father got a job now? It doesn't change what her mother said to her or what happened. It doesn't change-
"Um. You... alright?"
Ki Yeom looks up, remembering that this stranger was still infront of her. Vision blur, she clears her throat and shoves the letter back in his hands.
"It's not mine."
He looks down at the shredded envelope and haphazardly-returned letter. Her eyes are red, so he's not dumb enough to believe it's not hers.
"Are... you sure?"
"Yeah, I'm sure," Ki Yeom closes her eyes and rubs them over her lids. "Sorry, I was just busy making dinner. I have to go."
"Right," He clutches the envelope to his side and nods subtly.
With pursed lips, she looks at him one more time for acknowledgement. He's quiet, and careful, as he takes a step back and turns to leave. Ki Yeom gently swings the door shut, feeling her nose sour all over again.
Sucking in a deep breath, she looks over in her mini kitchen and stares at the slightly-cooled soup sittin on the stove. Then her eyes travel over to where she had dumped her bag, and remembers the thermal flask.
She walks over to it and picks it up, opening it and carefully sipping the warm soup.

MOONLIT REMINISCENCE.
prompt: when they go over to sit on their lap and cup their cheeks, lovingly staring into their eyes.
includes: blade x gn!reader. soft bladie, small spoilers of bladeâs lore (his past name) â wc: 468
It was a peaceful evening at Xianzhou Luofu, with the moon shining brightly in the sky, casting its luminous glow upon the figures and shapes painted by the stars. Yingxing sat engrossed in his task of reviewing the paper documents that Jing Yuan had given him.
Lost in his work, he had forgotten how long it had been since he began signing and scrutinising the documents. Suddenly, the sound of a door opening and closing broke his concentration. Paying little mind to it, he continued his work, his senses attuned to the soft footsteps of the mysterious visitor.
âQÄ«n Ă i de,â (Name) called out, finally capturing Yingxingâs attention. He looked up from his work to find them standing in front of his desk, arms crossed and wearing a pout. âHmm? What are you pouting about?â he asked, seemingly oblivious to their needs.
(Name) let out a sigh, their disappointment palpable. They moved around the desk, gently pushing Yingxingâs chair back and settling comfortably on his lap. Yingxingâs face immediately flushed red, unsure where to direct his gaze or what to do with his hands.
Placing their hands on Yingxingâs face, (Name) guided his gaze upward, locking their stunning eyes with his. âIs the mighty Yingxing feeling shy?â they teased, their fingers caressing his cheeks tenderly.
âNo,â he replied hastily, not wanting to admit the profound effect his beloved had on him. Though his reddened face betrayed his words, he attempted to assert himself by placing his hands on their waist. Yet, his feeble gesture seemed inconsequential as (Name) swiftly pressed their lips against his, catching him off guard and surprising him even more.
Yingxing let out a small yelp before surrendering to the intoxicating kiss, his hands traversing (Name)âs body while their gentle touch cradled his cheek and tangled in his blond hair.
Unable to stifle his moans of pleasure, he revelled in the kiss, but all too soon, (Name) pulled away, prompting him to yearn for their lips once more. Gasping for air, he met their gaze, filled with profound love and adoration.
âIâm madly in love with you,â he confessed, relishing the sensation of their fingers running through his hair.
âHmm, I know,â (Name) replied, wrapping their arms around him, finding solace in his embrace as they rested their head on his shoulder.
A sense of dĂ©jĂ vu enveloped them. Time had flowed since that fateful encounter, yet the memory of (Name)âs eyes, perpetually brimming with love and adoration solely for him, remained etched in Yingxingâs consciousness. Their love seemed to transcend the ages, guiding them to their present circumstance, evoking vivid recollections of their shared past.
âDoesnât this feel incredibly nostalgic?â (Name) mused, perched on his lap, their fingers weaving through his locks.
âIndeed it does,â Yingxing, now preferring the name Blade, replied.
NOTES. AHHH i love writing for blade theres so much room for angst or those sentimental vibes, hope u like it æć â€ïžâđ„

Theory: The Sedition of Imbibitor Lunae was not about making Blade immortal.
(Updated with more speculations and additional evidence.)
!!! WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS REGARDING LEAKS AHEAD !!!
The current prevailing theory is that the Sedition is about Dan Feng turning Blade immortal. However, I think the Sedition is actually about a collaboration between Dan Feng, Blade and Jingliu to revive a dead Baiheng. This plays into the theory about Bailu being Baiheng's reincarnation.
Background:
Baiheng is the 5th unnamed member of the High-Cloud Quintet. She was a Foxian pilot who used a bow as a weapon. It's speculated that Baiheng was somehow turned into a Vidyadhara and she reincarnated to become Bailu. More elaboration and evidence about the theory here.
Speculated Timeline of Events:
Baiheng dies. Dan Feng, Blade and Jingliu work together to revive her. The plan was for Dan Feng to use multiple Vidyadhara eggs to reincarnate Baiheng into a Vidyadhara and grant her immortality. However, something goes wrong during the process, and Baiheng instead turns into a Foxian-Vidyadhara chimaera. The chimaera goes on a rampage, forcing Jingliu to "kill" it. However, instead of dying, the chimaera turns into a Vidyadhara egg, allowing Baiheng to be reincarnated into Bailu.
Evidence of an Attempt to Revive Baiheng:
(Leaked) Dan Heng IL's Character Story Part III: The story describes Dan Feng and Blade working together to "bury [Dan Fengâs] old friend, or to grant them new life grant" and that â[these] two actions were one and the sameâ. This suggests that Blade and Dan Feng were working to revive someone, but the person would still âdieâ in the process somehow. I believe this is describing efforts to reincarnate a dead Baiheng into a Vidyadhara, as Baihengâs reincarnation would technically be a completely new person and Baiheng would âdieâ. However, during the process, an unnamed girl crashes a starskiff into Dan Feng and unleashes some kind of weapon on him. The interference of this starskiff girl might have caused the reincarnation process to go wrong. (Side Note: I've seen speculation that the starskiff girl is Baiheng. I think this is unlikely because the Dan Heng IL character stories use pretty consistent aliases for the High-Cloud Quintet members. Dan Feng is the âdragonâ, Jingliu is the "swordswoman", Baiheng is the "pilot", Jing Yuan is the "Cloud Knight Lieutenant" and Blade is the "craftsman".)
Passerby's Roaming Dragon Bracer Relic: The relic's story describes Dan Heng and Blade turning someone into a "monstrosity". I think this could be referring to a Baiheng getting turned into a Foxian-Vidyadhara chimaera. (Side Note: There's a popular theory that this story is describing Dan Feng turning Blade immortal, with "monstrosity" being a reference to Blade's immortality. I think this is unlikely because the story refers to Blade as the "unnamed" and Dan Feng as "that owner", but it refers to the monstrosity victim as the "beloved". This suggests that the monstrosity victim is a third person separate from Blade and Dan Feng.)
Evidence of the Use of Vidyadhara Eggs:
(Leaked) Dan Heng IL's Character Story Part III: The revival specifically happens in Scalegorge Waterscape, which means that the process likely either uses Vidyadhara eggs or the Ambrosial Arbor. Since Dan Feng has to shift into his dragon form and use his dragon powers for the revival, it's more likely that the revival process uses the eggs rather than the Arbor.
Todd Riordan's Academic Research Mission Parts 1 & 2: In the mission, Todd's teacher leaves behind a bunch of clues, one of which is an image of the High-Cloud Quintet. From these clues, Todd deduces that Vidyadhara eggs can be used to achieve immortality. He then uses some Vidyadhara egg white to de-age himself. Blade appears towards the end of the mission and it is implied that he knows what Todd has done. Overall, the mission suggests that there is some relationship between the High-Cloud Quintet and the secret of obtaining immorality from Vidyadhara eggs.
Verdict: The Great Rebellion of Imbibitor Lunae: The verdict states that Dan Feng is guilty of "breaking the ban" (presumably a ban on granting immortality) and "thieving immortality". This suggests that Dan Feng gave someone immortality by stealing it from existing immortals (e.g. Vidyadharas currently in egg form).
A Page From the Alchemy Commission's Official Gazette: In the comment section of the Gazette, a commenter mentions that Dan Feng prevented several Vidyadhara from reincarnating. Since the Vidyadhara are able to reincarnate even after suffering serious injuries, Dan Feng must have done something drastic to these Vidyadhara to prevent them from reincarnating (e.g using their eggs to transform Baiheng).
Evidence of Blade's & Jingliu's Involvement:
Verdict: The Great Rebellion of Imbibitor Lunae: The verdict describes Dan Feng as "the mastermind behind the Sedition of Imbibitor Lunae", implying that there are multiple parties involved in the Sedition.
(Leaked) Dan Heng IL's Character Story Part III & Passerby's Roaming Dragon Bracer Relic: As discussed above, both stories describe Blade working together with Dan Feng to possibly revive someone.
Blade's iconic line: "Of five people, three must pay a price." It's widely agreed that the three people here refer to Dan Feng, Jingliu and Blade himself. The line implies that all three of them participated together in the same unforgivable act/incident.
Yanqing's Character Story Part III: The story mentions that Jingliu "violated the laws of heaven and resulting in her name being wiped from the face of the galaxy". This tells us that she commits a heinous act at some point.
Yanqing's Companion Mission: Frosty Blade's Trial In the mission, Yanqing states that "Ever since the Sedition of Imbibitor Lunae, the title of Sword Champion has gone unclaimed." This implies that whatever Jingliu did was related to the Sedition.
Further Speculations Relating to the Sedition:
Baiheng died as a sacrificial pawn to protect the Xianzhou. In Blade's trailer, he says "They declare me guilty yet their sin is greater. They've fallen too far for their lofty Xianzhou ships." The line suggests that Blade holds a grudge against the Xianzhou Alliance for some past action they've committed. Similarly, Jingliu also seems to hold a grudge against an unknown group of people. In Blade's character story part I, she says "Remember the feeling of death, and bring it to them." as she trains Blade. The line suggests that Jingliu was trying to turn Blade into a weapon against the group.
Baiheng held a high position in the Xianzhou . In the comment section of the Alchemy Commision's Gazette, a commenter states that "many [Vidyadhara] were never able to undergo hatching rebirth again because of [Dan Feng's] one decision". If Dan Feng had really sacrificed multiple Vidyadhara eggs to reincarnate Baiheng, it would be strange for the commenter to describe such a seemingly heinous and selfish act as just a mere "decision". However, if Baiheng had held a high position in the Xianzhou, sacrificing the lives of multiple Vidyadhara to revive her might seem to be a justifiable "decision" to some.
Jingliu succumbs to Mara immediately after "killing" the Baiheng chimaera. In a Vidyadhara egg story, Jingliu kills a furry draconic abomination (speculated to be the Baiheng chimaera). She then apologises and unleashes ice waves, freezing everyone in the vicinity (and potentially killing them). This lines up with Jingliu's mara-stricken rampage shown in the animated short "A Flash", where she freezes many people.
Dan Feng unintentionally caused some Vidyadhara to rebel against the Xianzhou. In the verdict against Dan Feng, one of his listed crimes was "inciting riot". A Vidyadhara egg story describes the memories of one of the rioters. It seems that the rioters had acted in a desire to protect Dan Feng from punishment, rather than a direct order from Dan Feng himself.

ÂżNezha parecĂa el eterno niño de 12 años hasta que empezĂł a vivir con la familia Qi y empezĂł a crecer con regularidad como Red Son? Âżo esta como el canon?
Translated via Google:
"Did Nezha seem like the eternal 12-year-old until he started living with the Qi family and started growing regularly like Red Son? or is it like canon?"
Looked like his canon self until his layers got peeled back to reveal the eternal 12 year old.
Like with Red Son, he simply didn't age physically because no one was really there to help him grow up.
Nezha's father (Li Jing) has pretty much "given up" on raising him, and instead treats him more like a soldier than his son. Combined with Nezha's older brothers being unable to act as positive role models to him (both work for different higher-up deities), Nezha really hasn't had the room to *grow up* in the last few thousand years.
He uses a glamour/illusions to appear as his canon older form, but when he loses favor in Heaven; he loses the glamour. Revealing a scared half-demonic child.
Only Wukong could recognise the little god in both forms, and welcomed him in with open arms when Nezha showed up at Pigsy's.
By the time of LMK; Nezha has been able to grow physically and mentally, giving him his adult form once more. It looks a little different from his canon design; his demonic and lotus-plant traits (fangs, horns, vines etc) are more on display.
When the events of the Samadhi Fire occur, Li Jing honestly is unable to recognise Nezha as his disowned son. Which helps since Nezha only meets his father so he can steal the Samadhi Fire Map for Wukong.
I can imagine at the second encounter, Li Jing has caught on who the pink-clad lotus demon helping Wukong truly is. Interupts the gang as they're busy with the Rings, demanding answers.
Li Jing, emerges from the sky dramatically: "Nezha! Have you discarded your loyalties so much that you would rather reforge such a dangerous weapon for the simian fiend, over the command of your own father!?
Nezha (turns to the monkeys): "Do I really have to explain it to him?"
Wukong: "You don't have to if you don't want to, flowerbud."
Nezha: "Ok. Thanks baba."
Li Jing, enraged: "Baba!?"
Nezha: "Yeaaah. Turns out in order to be an actual dad, you need to raise your kids. Shocker."
Bonus: Divine/Demonic adoption law means that Wukong and Macaque pretty much accidentally blood-adopted Nezha when he began living with them years before. SWK's Lawyer manifests with the reciepts to prove it.

THE WLW WEBCOMIC COUPLES BRACKET
Your nominations are in, your votes have been counted, and the WLW Webcomic Couples Bracket is assembled! There are 64 entries, broken up for early rounds into eight groups of eight couples or poly ships.
It will take me a while to find images to use in the polls, so keep the propaganda coming while I get them ready! (And if your propaganda includes original images from the webcomic that I can use, it will help the process go that much faster.) A text version of the matchups, along with a short note on seeding, is below the cut.
<3
The bracket is lightly seeded - the eight couples or ships with 10-15 nominations each were given the first seed in each group, then couples with 3-7 nominations were given second through fourth seed, and the remaining slots were filled by couples with two nominations. Ok but imagine lotusnoodles de-aged together
At some point there outside playing and mk shyly walks over to nezha and holds up a pretty flower or a shiny object to him.
"ook. It pretty. Like you. đ" And then quick totters off after giving it too him.
I HC that mk was picked on pretty badly by other children especially older children, due to 1. He wasn't able to talk very well yet cause he was just barely learning too and 2. His family situation or rather lack there of.
So mk not only interacting but talking to another kid would be a pretty big deal.
Also even de-aged nezha is not safe from the monkie boy rizz
Aw đ„° The babies in love
I do see the mk getting picked on thing, especially since now we see it was pretty obvious that a lot of those behaviors were just mk being a Monkie.
Nezha would be all in for Mk, and it would kinda be like a role reversal, with Nezha being the bold one. Jing would take so many pictures of their little kindergarten wedding. (Nezha had so many on him, itâs only fair)
Even after getting back to normal, Nezha falls just a bit more in love with mk bc the Monkie wanted him even without knowing it was him.

ok im loosing my mind at this theory? canon connection? from twitter
1.2 spoilers/theories / luocha companion quest mentions / leaks(?)
i was ALSO under the assumption that dan feng is dead and dan heng is just a Fucked Up On Purpose reincarnation of himself. but these TWO screenshots fuck it all up
(apparently this was data mined from the game and hasn't been deleted but im unsure if its 1.3 leaks for imbibitor lunae's companion mission or not)
and this is just a screenshot from Luocha's companion mission where March is talking about a novel that has a molting/de-aging story beat and said novel is a main focus throughout the mission
the clear use of "molting" is. super telling especially since Luocha is a follower of the abundance and has unclear motives on the Luofu that havent come to light yet compared to Dan Feng's gay gay homosexual gay immortality sin
and boy does hyv like to drop hints like this in the patches leading up A Big Reveal
this makes the lore EVEN MORE complicated than it already WAS trying to figure out whats going between these two(?) characters and if Dan Feng was actually just de-aged its honestly So Much More Tragic than just Dan Feng dying because Dan Heng IS Dan Feng. Blade ISN'T as delusional in thinking they're the same person, though Dan Heng isn't trying to gaslight gatekeep girlboss by pretending not to know Blade because he GENUINELY doesn't. Dan Feng isn't dead, Dan Feng just doesn't exist anymore in the capacity that his loved ones can remember . And it hurts SO much more.
This also explains why Jing Yuan was acting so fucking insensitive to Dan Heng in the 1.2 trailblaze mission. Jing Yuan is a long-life species and not a stranger to the death of people around him, he is familiar with the Vidyadhara reincarnation cycles & him repeatedly referring to Dan Heng as Dan Feng is unwarranted and not in character IF Dan Feng is actually dead. If Dan Feng was de-aged & grows into being Dan Heng that throws a huge fucking wrench in the already messy & convoluted Vidyadhara reincarnation. His friend did not die and move on to their next incarnation that is to be expected of Vidyadhara, Dan Feng NEVER died but his existence was so altered to the point that his death would have been kinder
bonus me trying to explain to my non-hsr friend this shit;
#fool talks hsr#honkai star rail#dan heng#imbibitor lunae#dan feng#jing yuan#blade hsr#renheng#i dont tend to write theories or lore speculation like this at all#but something about these characters makes me feel insanity ive never felt before#so ig ill make a tag for future lore talks#pls be nice to me and my spelling/grammar im neurodivergent and never learned how to spell fDSJFDSF#yappin

verses
canon i // xianle; it starts in terror, the son of a runaway princess and the guard she had fallen in love with. by the time qi rong was five, however, the abuse had gotten to be too much for his mother, and she ran with her son. all the way back to her sister's home, begging sanctuary from the queen of xianle. it was granted, and qi rong became prince xiao jing, but even that title didn't save him from the bullying. only his elder cousin, six years older than he, was kind, and as such... qi rong would be the first worshipper of the eventual heavenly official.
canon ii. // life after death; the fall of xianle, at the hands of his father's people, hurt the de facto crown prince. his cousin was gone, having left with his parents and underlings, but qi rong... was left to die in the palace. left to take the punishment the rebels had chosen for the royal family. ... was it any wonder that after becoming a ghost, he would choose to seek revenge and orchestrate the death of the royal family of yong'an?
canon iii. // canon events; he's a calamity, the night-touring green lantern, and that means that he's important. (right?) that means that he belongs, that he's worthy of being spoken of in the same breath as crimson rain sought flower or black water submerging ships. so what if they're supremes and he's still just a wrath? the next time mount tonglu opened, he'd definitely get in. and gain the ranking he deserves. just ask his underlings, or the useless son he's totally just keeping around for a snack. that's all.
canon iv. // post-canon; life as a ghost flame is... not great, but it does give him some time to think. and he guesses that the brute of a god lang qianqiu isn't doing a horrible job taking care of his son. (he no longer has the body of the boy's actual father, but... that's his son.) it definitely helps that he won't be hurt, so long as guzi is so obsessed with keeping him safe, and bringing him home. soon. soon.

pspspsp if u weâre to make pepper/yanqing canon⊠who would confess first?
omg ok SO.
Yanqing for sure catches feelings first. he doesnât really talk to many people his age, and Pepperâs just. theyâre nice to him ok. he has a low bar. Pepper probably realizes they Like like him a few months into them being friends? in the phase where heâs still vaugely threatening to arrest them but theyâre like going out for ice cream together or smth.
as for who confesses first⊠I feel like it could swing either way? if Pepper confessed first, itâd be probably after another one of Yanqingâs âgo on a whole ass mission without telling anyone and get in over his headâ things, and theyâd be berating him and like. slip up and uh âwhy does it even matter to you?â âbecause I like you, dummy!â and then they immediately panic and run off. spend the night anxiously making mobile disembodied heads. this is how they de-stress.
if Yanqing confesses first, heâd spend a while angsting over it to Jing Yuan like âGeneral. what would you do if you. liked someone. and they were. um. a little tiny bit a criminal,â and Jing Yuan goes âIdk thatâs crazyâ (voice of a guy who totally dated Bigget Criminal Ever dan feng). heâd probably like. bite the bullet and tell them expecting nothing to come of it, but surprise! theyâre totally down to grab icecream or fight eachother or whatever normal teens do on dates

i know i said bedtime but @txnichtgut just made me think about the interaction between jing yuan and dan heng after he fought yanqing and blade leaves ( gonna use abbrieviations with names to keep personals away from this post )
i'm thinking about how . . . it wasn't dan feng in the shackling prison , but rather dan heng . . . that he was the one who served out his punishment in xianzhou before being exiled for his crimes that he doesn't remember WHAT of . that jing yuan knows dan HENG as dan FENG and continued to refer to him as such even when DH continued to correct JY that he wasn't him [DF] . . . that DH has always been DF , just lacking memories .        in accordance to this theory ( which will now be kinda pivotal to how i write DH when it comes to interacting other  )   , DF underwent a MOLTING process that de-aged him . . . and basically wiped his memories ( like if he went back in time and de-aged , his memory of events transpired would not exist  ) as per the punishment given by the vidyadhara to appease the commission and the ten lords . he then served out his term in the shackling prison after molting and exiled as a favor from JY to an old friend, DF , who had the wish to let himself â DH â to experience the outside world ( like this strip ) .        certainly means that BLADE wasn't wrong in recognizing DH as DF because he technically is DF  ; just that blade has no idea that DH doesn't have any memories of what happened before the molting . certainly explains JY's reaction to DH appearing and continuous reference to and treatment of DH as an old friend . of the THREE , only ONE person knows the full truth of what happened to DF  ; of the THREE , only two have a clear idea of what DF did .        bottom line is that DH had to carry the burdens left by DF and even if he had paid his dues through prison time and trying to keep his word by not entering xianzhou after being exiled . . . the fact that he has to continue carrying the burdens of his predecessor with little idea of what happened . . . would death of DF not be kinder and stop this cycle ?? DH is consistently haunted by his past . . .       will DH ever find out and will Blade ever come to understand what happened and why DH pretends to not know what he did . . . and what kept JY from really speaking about it ?? out of respect for DF and not wanting DH to know and keep him free from the shackles of the past ?? something else holding JY back and that it just wasn't beneficial to let them know ?? will DH ever come to find out . . .
