NEW DAY NEW BATTLE don't know why I'm doing this. @gokiblack666 (FINALLY DOING THIS)
GOKII BLACK VS CHAOS DEMON
Goku v Superman OP OC version.
Gokii black info
Height:five foot 5
Weight:130lbs
Weapons:super forms ki bare hands.
Strengths:as an op fan version of Goku black she has all the skills of goku and goku black. From all the super and heros canon. Godly Strength (she can fight a ssb gogetia who could one shot xeno in base form) Godly durability (casually shrugs off hits from full power broly and God killer Hearts took a hit from the time sword without dieing) immeasurable speed (can teleport instantly and moves so fast she ignores pretty much everything.) Has both godly ki and Destruction ki. Somehow learned how to mix ultra ego and ultra instinct. Can make ki weapons that tear holes in the fabrics of reality. Is a threat to everything outside of toiyama when it comes to dragon ball.
Weaknesses:mix a god complex with a sayain pride and you get her confidence. While she can fight the strongest of DB she still got defeated and nearly killed by Ultimate Hearts. Her super forms are limited. (Hasn't mastered ultra instinct 100% super sayain rose 3 is destroying her body and ultra ego burns through stamina at a high speed.) Isn't immortal despite her godly power meaning if strong enough you could Hakai her to death. The super dragon balls once completed a wish to make a heroic kindhearted frieza strong enough to best her. AND IT WORKED.
Deamon info
Height:fluctuating.
Weight:heavier then the multiverse.
Weapons:various powers the All Black the phantom Ring Infinity stones MotherBox Ultimate nullifier.
Strengths:as the herald of the dark multiverse he is ultimately the embodiment of the dark multiverse of the comics of Archie marvel dc idw image and more he's essentially the end of both near infinite multiverses and when all alone will sacrifice his very existence to restart all of there was and will be. Beyond godly Strength(one shot Superman who punched the maker so hard he broke the dc multiverse.) Beyond godly Durability (survived the Ultimate nullifier which destroyed and remade all of creation in an instant that destroyed darksied and Thanos who were so strong they became the marvel and DC multiverses and he was in the center of it and laughed off the concept of the 5th dimension trying to destroy him) improbable speed(broke the concept of infinity by flying and ran so fast he matched the flash who out ran instantaneous teleportation that was INSTANT) has complete knowledge of the events of comics as a whole. He's in complete control of most narratives and stories meaning if you're a comic character he can do whatever the hell he wants to you. Managed to mix powers that shouldn't work. (Astro force and the omega effect both speed forces positive and negative the powers of chaos and order and the entire emotional spectrum.) If he's ever killed or brings his true form into any comic reality he'd destroy it completely beyond repair. The all black can kill beings that can destroy multiverses while absorbing their powers and nullifies all forms of immortality.
Weaknesses:has no skills in fighting outside of using his powers and mimicking any hero he can see. Is completely depressed and reckless as he is aware of his existence. He can only control Comics and isn't aware of Mangas and animes. Often limits himself due to wanting to enjoy stories and would rather watch inspiring people become heros then fixing problems himself.

May I have a Marvel and Justice league match up Please?  I'm 5'4 and have shoulder length blonde hair ( dyed )  with hazel eyes and wear big red glasses. I'm introverted and can usually be found playing video games or listening to music.
I'd say I'm pretty laid back and have a filthy/dark sense of humor. Not big fan of people yet I try to be polite, though come off as awkward and get easily flustered.
I have seven tattoos possibly more in the future. Short tempered and Sarcastic. Great listener, knows when to give others space when needed. Definitely a foodie and love looking up at the stars on a clear night. Unsure of how to help others yet I'lltry anything. ( Male Please ^^ )
Tumblr media
Bruce loves when you come to visit him in the lab. He loves when you help him, usually bringing along a cup of warm tea. He loves when you keep him company there making sure he’s never lonely (more like making sure he gets some social interactment.)
When Bruce has some time off from his experiments in the lab the two of you just like to lay in bed and listen to music together. It just cuddle, your limbs a tangled knot as you just enjoyed each others presence.
He would definitely find a way to get to create a 100% damage free, cruelty free hair dye. You would low key be a guinea pig every once in a while whether you have realized it or not
He definitely got nervous around you when y'all first met. He was kinda standoff ish since you weren't really the social type. He definitely noticed Tonys parties were not something you like to do.
He eventually grew a pair and sat beside you at the bar. You were busy talking to a friend beside you to notice him. He got the bar tenders attention and ordered two whiskey sours. The bartender makes the drinks and sits it in front of him. Bruce hands him the cash and tells him to keep the change. And slides a drink beside your empty one and waited for your attention before saying anything. Your friend noticed the drink immediately noticed and raised her eyebrows at you with a smirk. She gets up as she gives you a wink. Mouthing, “You got this!” as she leaves.
You accepted the whiskey sour and started to talk to Bruce. The two of you seemed to instantly kick. The nerd in the the both you coming out when the other had the same interest. The night continued with drinking, laughing and just enjoying each others company.
Bruce has to eat for two (himself and the green guy) so he can definitely put down some food. You're hungry? PERFECT! He's always down for some food. Restaurants, Fast food places, diners, you name it the two of you have been there for a date.
You and Tony can not be in a room together the sarcasm is too much lol
He understands how to calm you down when you're being short tempered.
Tumblr media
He use to be the jock. Head of the glass until the accident. He was always and around people and then isolated.
He understands the feeling of not wanting to be around people/ not having the social battery to be around people.
The two of you are the perfect couple. You love to just relax in your bed room play video games together and just live life together.
You love that he is your walking boom box. If you ever think of a song, but only know it by humming he can figure it out. It's amazing!!!
He loves your sense of humor and the way you smile.
He loves your hazel eyes and your Blonde hair.

I'm starting to think that some cookies really needs a redesign/new models because some of them really...don't look good at all. For example they really need to redesign coffee cookie to match coffee tribe look/lore. Fire spirit and wind archer defo needs a lil bit more details because let's be honest they look more like rares than legendaries . Also lemon and dinosour too idk how to explain that but they look.... weird (?).
Also do you have any tier list about your favorite/least favorite cookies that laying around? I wanna ask more questions but idk which cookies you like other than milk and dark choco
Well I disagree they should be redesigned but a costume to maybe make them fit in more with the standard now YES. ... Like Dark Enchantress' design is not terrible but like her hair is obviously like an old design choice to make it look more like the white frosting and her costume fills her hair in more and just looks amazing.
Lemon I think it might be because hes so lanky? He stands out because of it, same with Whipped Cream but Whipped Cream has a stronger design and his legs are probably designed to make him look en pointe where as Lemon is just super lanky. I have no problems with Dino tho IDK lol.
TIER LIST MAKER IT IS! (I only added NPCs if they were top tiers) Thank you for giving me an opportunity to talk at length about Cookies. Im delighted. Feel free to ask on commentary on other characters I didnt talk about
Tumblr media
TOP 10 in my favs-
-Milk is obviously my absolute fav. I love loyalty in characters, I love buff sweet boys... Milk is perfect. I love the broken pedestal hero worship hes got and I genuinely dread and am overly invested in Milk and DCs meeting.
-Dark Choco is a tragic character im very invested in. And I currently have a knife at the throat of Kingdom if they dare hurt him anymore. The point is digging in as of the story out so far but I know hes got to get that evil costume mode in before things get better for him probably...
-Cotton Candy was my first fully maxed out character because I stared the game while a CC max out event was running and she carried me so god damn far in the game I owe her everything. Shes also adorable.
-Blueberry Pie is just a baddie all around and she also helped me get higher scores for a very long time. I loved the game when she was meta. She made everything so easy.
-Herb is baby. I love that hes friends with monster plants, the main baddies crazy sister, high-class rich boys and also is Sea Fairies son? or something in the comics... like what on earth is going on with this man?
- DJ is basically rainbow Lucio whats not to love? I only wish they were a musical healer too but w/e. Still adorable.
- Hero also helped me for a hot minute in early game and is also Iron Man so...
- Strawberry is my absolute baby and I love her more and more with each appearance.
- Millennial Tree is my favorite Legendary, I think hes beautiful, I love earth tones and his serene personality with his massively destructive ability is just everything. Coincidentally he seems a lot like Zhongli and then now in Kingdom shares an EN VA with him. Which I just think is funny.
- Black Raisin is terrific, she really stands out to me from the rest of the Kingdom-only Cookies and I just hope she comes to Ovenbreak.
Tumblr media
Top 10 in Pretty Great-
- Aloe! Aloes first run was before I got into the series so the only thing I knew about her was what Ive seen in the fandom... and the fandom made her into like... a fuck boy type? Kinda and I hated 'him' but after she got the spotlight I adore her. Again that loyalty... shes just a sweetheart.
- Hydrangea is such the opposite of my usual type... but shes such a callous bitch to her boss that its just so fucking funny. Her design is beautiful and her personality is hilarious so.... She also taught me how to spell Hydrangea without looking it up!
- Almond may be a cop but more importantly hes a caring father and I love that. Cant go wrong with an over-worked, sweet father.
- Pancake has kind of an annoying personality.... but hes the reason I got into Cookie Run in the first place. I saw a pic of him while looking at fandom discourse and was like... WHO IS THIS CUTIE PIE?! So hes got a special place in my heart.
- Captain Ice is similar to Almond but I dont like her design as much. But shes still a baddie.
- Amber Sugar looks like he'd bee annoying but he was actually very cute in his story quest. He is peak tsundere unlike a lot of 'tsundere' characters who are just assholes that people insist have a good heart. Amber is actually does. Hes a good boy and his design is very cute.
- Pistachio is on of my favs... but I do think her design is MEGA DATED.
- Red Velvet is so unfortunate getting roped into DEs side as if its not her own fault that people are scared of the cake monsters. But his design is amazing and his love for little cake dogs is super cute.
- Prophets design is also amazing... I love that he tells fortunes and his mustache is a fortune cookie that when he speaks it cracks at the crease... thats so clever! Hes also pretty funny. -hold him up like a potato- I JUST THINK HES NEAT.
- Roguefort... classic. are they a bit of a bitch? SURE. Are they hilarious? Absolutely. Also their costumes are great. The bastard never misses.
Tumblr media
Top 5 Good cookies-
- Dark Enchantress, Scorpion, Lotus, Wasabi. Sometimes you can be a rancid bitch and a bad bitch at the same time... I cant help it... I kinda of love these awful femme fatales.
- Yogurt Cream is also just kind of the worst... but hes funny about it.
- Squid Ink is one of the few characters that make me understand SKRUNKLY. I love that everyone is scared of this sobbing baby... its very funny.
- Raspberry Mousse... The fact he seems oblivious and confused by his own attraction to Rose just makes him amazing. Hes the weirdest incel.
- Birthday Cake is a mood.
- Earl Grey would be higher if he didnt look so much like Roguefort. The fact he just blindly follows the creepy twins is weird and uhm... kind of great, he doesnt seem evil but his duty is to serve them. Hes just incidentally on the bad side which is kind of funny.
- Sparkling is sort of like that too... the event with Roguefort had him like be an accessory to almost murder because he was like 'People tell me things, I knew shit was happening but thats none of my business.' LIKE? LMAO Ok. Herb your boyfriend is out of control.
Tumblr media
Top 5 Takem or Leavem
- Avocado has a great personality but I genuinely hate her design, its so ugly. She needs a costume so bad pls Devsis...
- Fig is just weird all around but its not as fun or funny as the ones in 'good'.
- Eclairs design is technically good but also doesnt look like his namesake and also also looks too much like Roguefort and Earl Grey which is so tired at this point.
- Affogatos design his simply gorgeous but what a dick.
- Space Donuts design Ive always hated but its bear jelly costume is everything and its gameplay is pretty fun.
Tumblr media
- Something about Apple just irritates me.
- Licorice also irritates me but I think hes the best of this category because I think thats the point of his character... hes like the Nuka (Lion King II) of Cookie Run...
- Madeleine was my favorite designed character for the Kingdom pre-release but his personality is obnoxious.
- Yam too is obnoxious. I was more tolerant of him earlier when he didnt have much screen time but now has been in the spotlight several times and hes just insufferable.
Tumblr media
- Muscle is one of my fav characters to play as because his skill is challenging but very fun when you get the hang of it... but hes hideous and has an annoying personality.
Tumblr media
- Carol is fine but her design is so terrible... Thats really the only thing but I hate it so much and her personality is a big shrug from me.
- Cocoa has the inverse problem... her design is phenomenal, its so fucking cute she used to be one of my favs before the Christmas event.. but her personality is fucking grating I just cant stand her.
- Ice Juggler is a clown, I hate clowns... also I hate douchey characters. Theres literally nothing appealing about this character, even their skill is just boring. How are you going to be an asshole to Banana Cookie whos just a sweetie pie?
- Sugar Glass seems like a character I would like... but even for me shes a bit much and her design is garish as fuck.
- Ginseng just skeeves me out because its clear that the flower is embedded in his head and his eyebrows and beard are its roots... its so gross...

The Marvels of Roy Thomas
Tumblr media
2018 saw revival of an era that was known for Roy Thomas’ writings and co-created characters that go back to the late 60s. At first, in September of 2018 it was announced that Marvel would start or re-start publishing three ongoing Conan titles and in the same month came the 1st trailer of Captain Marvel (starring Carol Danvers/Brie Larson), a character created by Roy Thomas and Gene Colan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Buy Marvel Legends Captain Marvel Wave here
Carol would become Ms. Marvel in late 70s (thanks to Gerry Conway, Carla Danvers, John Buscemi and Joe Sinnot) as part of drive to launch more superheroines but she would recieve her powers much earlier in Captain Marvel no. 18 (1968) when Thomas was writing the title
Co-Creations
For those who don’t know much about Roy Thomas, he not only succeeded Stan Lee as Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief but is also someone who co-created many of Marvel’s most popular characters, many of whom have graced the silver-screen along with TV. It is hard to imagine anyone other than Stan Lee who has co-created more characters than him. To name a few of Thomas’ co-creations, they include (but not limited to) Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Man-Thing, Valkyrie, The Defenders, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Morbius the Living Vampire, Black Knight, Vision, Adam Warlock, Yellow Jacket and.......Ultron (Defenders is the only team that was solely conceived by him)

When Diversity became the new norm
If the concept of an Anti-Hero was introduced by Timely Comics in the Golden Age with Namor the Sub-Mariner, its popularity reached new heights in the 70s thanks to Thomas’ co-created characters. In fact, the Bronze Age of comics began with the introduction of anti-heroes such as Wolverine, Punisher and Ghost Rider followed by Hollywood inspired characters such as Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Morbius and Shang-Chi that were Marvel’s approach to meet the demands of Blaxploitation, Kung-Fu and Vampire fans at the time
Gone were the days of a major super-hero with his/her own title being a White male or female nor were they a reflection of a WASP-ian world which DC Comics couldn’t get out of. Of course, Stan Lee, Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby laid the foundation for such a universe but during Roy Thomas’ tenure at Marvel; the horizon was broadened. This new approach paved the way for Marvel to launch standalone titles for characters like Black Panther written by Don McGregor with art by Billy Graham and Rich Buckler
Roy Thomas’ Imagination...second only to Stan
As a writer, Roy was Stan’s true successor. His uncanny ability to take storywriting and character creation to a whole new level makes it popular among today’s readership much like Stan and Jack’s work. When we compare him with his successors, they were mainly “leaders” who took Marvel to new heights due to their superb Editorial skills/leadership but their level of creativity couldn’t match with what Thomas had delivered. Joe Quesada comes a close second but his Editorial tenure is more about redefining characters and injecting Indy blood into mainstream comics. In case of Thomas, achieved success as a writer, editor and a co-creator similar to Stan
But what makes his contributions to Marvel unique from the rest are highlighted below:

Galactus came to devour Earth. the Skrulls infiltrated life on Earth only to end up as cows but the Kree/Skrull War was different. This was the first Space Opera of EPIC proportions. In this story, Earth is caught up in an Inter-Galactic war between the Kree and Skrull empires
The arc involed Avengers, Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) and Fantastic Four as protagonists and such an excercise at a grand scale at the time was never done before. Yes there were guest appearances by fellow heroes but having something that would be the foundation for future cross-over events to come was the first of its kind. This series was way ahead of its time to the extent that it served as a foundation for Brian Michael Bendis’ Secret Invasion arc in 2008. This just shows the richness of the content
Enter Retcons
Both Marvel and DC had practically shelved much of their Golden Age characters that weren’t first tier superheroes. It was Roy who still saw potential in them and had cross-overs in which the Golden Age characters would time travel to meet their future selves or their Silver Age replacements. Of course this just didn’t give birth to the new, ground breaking concept of Retroactive Continuity (Retcon) but it also gave birth to new characters that would keep Golden Age continuity fresh for Silver Age audiences

What Ifs & Team-Ups
DC Comics had an on-going series called Imaginary Stories which served as the pre-cursor to Elseworlds imprint in the late 80s. Marvel didn’t have a title that would have stories of its flagship characters that weren’t part of its mainsteam continuity. Again, this gap was filled by Thomas with the What If title that continued till 1984

Another successful title was Marvel Team-Up which mostly starred Spider-Man. The series co-created by Thomas and Ross Andru continued till 1985, explored various superhero combos within the mainstream continuity of Marvel Universe

The Deal Maker & a Savior
While working as an associate Editor in 1970, Thomas proposed to the then publisher of Marvel (Martin Goodman) to license Robert E. Howard’s Conan. The reason for doing so that Marvel was recieving requests to have literary properties adapted into comics and Conan was the most requested by the fans. It wasn’t easy to get it done as the budget was limited for licensing. But Roy was so dedicated to his work that he was even willing to knock a couple pages off his rate “to even things out"
The deal happened, Barry Windsor-Smith was hired to do the art and the rest is history. Conan The Barbarian continued till 1993 making it one of Marvel’s most successful title in the 70s
Tumblr media

Another licensing feat for Thomas was of Star Wars. In his blog post entitled “Roy Thomas saved Marvel”, former Marvel Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter (who was an associate Editor in the mid-70s) recalls the struggle Marvel was enduring due to weak titles suffering from bad content strategy that resulted in declining sales. As a way out of financial misery, Roy had suggested to license an upcoming science fiction movie called Star Wars and publish an adaptation thereof
While Jim and Roy didn’t see each other eye-to-eye and due to their disagreements Roy ended up writing exclusively for DC Comics in the early 80s, the following excerpt from Jim’s blog post says it all about Roy’s initiative and its success that continued well into the next decade:
“There was a lot of opposition to Star Wars.  Even Stan wasn’t keen on the idea.
Even I wasn’t.  I had no prejudice against science fiction, but wasting time on an adaptation of a movie with a dumb title described as an “outer space western?”
I was told—don’t know for sure—that George Lucas himself came to Marvel’s offices to meet with Stan and help convince him that we should license Star Wars.  I was told that Stan kept him waiting for 45 minutes in the reception room.  Apocryphal?  Maybe.  Roy would know.  But if so, it still reflects the mood at the time.
I don’t know how Roy got it done.  I was just the associate editor, and not privy to much of the wrangling that went on.  But, Roy got the deal done and we published Star Wars.”
- Jim Shooter: Roy Thomas saved Marvel
This was a time when Disney didn’t own Marvel and Star Wars. Just imagine where Marvel would be today had it not been for this deal worked out by Roy
End Note
It is fair to say that his work at Marvel has had a cult following over the years but now its going mass considering the the successes witnessed at the box office and Netflix
The re-launch of Star Wars comics in 2015 saw a million copies sold of its first issue, Marvel in 2018 won the rights to re-publish Conan titles, the What If title has also been re-launched
All of this begs the question: What was the secret behind Roy’s successes at Marvel? He may be the only writer/creator one can think of who was able to gauge popularity of Hollywood’s entertainment genres with comic book readership at the time. In most of his works, Hollywood’s reflections cannot be ignored. In the 60s, it was the Star Trek & Space Odyssey inspired space opera, in the 70s it was Kung-Fu, Blaxploitation, Anti-Heroes and Crime-fighting duos
In the year 2019, with the release of Captain Marvel movie in March; the superhero fans are being entertained with comics and movies that owe a great deal to this man. It wouldn’t be odd to name 2019 as ‘The Year of the Roy’

So you want to read Marvel comics
A while back I made a post of Marvel & DC comics that would make a good intro into the world of comics, and I thought it was time for an update. So here’s some more short run Marvel comics to try if you’re just getting into comics (or some recs for those of you who already are).
Press J to skip this post.
1. X-Club (2012) - 5 issues.
Tumblr media
I’m always a little wary of recommending Si Spurrier’s Marvel comics to new readers, because no matter what Marvel want him to do he writes in a universe largely divorced from continuity. That said, the Marvel universe in his head is a glorious mess of high camp, melodrama and comedy and I love it. X-Club is one of his best Marvel works, focussing on the scientists who surround the X-Men. Funny, silly and with some great character moments.
Written by Si Spurrier, drawn by Paul Davidson, coloured by Rachelle Rosenburg
Starring: Dr Nemesis, Kavita Rao, Danger, Madison Jeffries
Best for fans of comedy action
2. New Warriors (2014) - 12 issues
Tumblr media
This book got cancelled just as it was really finding its feet, but while I would have loved to see more, they did a great job of wrapping up most of their plot threads in time for the issue 12 finale. Like all the best Marvel comics, this is best described as a romp, about superpowered teenagers taking on a villain called the High Evolutionary (whose whole deal is furries). I read it knowing nothing about most of the characters and was rarely confused, despite it being a sequal to previous New Warriors books. A great introduction to one of Marvel’s perennial teen teams.
Written by Christopher Yost, drawn by Marcus To, coloured by David Curiel and Ruth Redmond
Starring: Justice, Speedball, Nova (Sam Alexander), Sun Girl, Scarlet Spider (Kaine), Hummingbird, Haechi, Silhouette, Water Snake, The High Evolutionary, The Celestials
Best for fans of young adult adventure
3. Angela: Asguard’s Assasin (2014) - 6 issues
Tumblr media
This is the first in a 3 part series, followed by Angela 1601 and Angela: Queen of Hel, all of which are wonderful. Do you want transwomen? Do you want women of colour? Do you want women loving women while also having space-opera adventure quests? Then you need Angela and her wife Sera, here to bring you the good news of queer comic-book writers. Honestly I can’t tell you how good the Angela series is - you need to go read it for yourself. Plus it’s a veritable who’s who of Asguard, so a great introduction to that part of earth 616
Written by Keiron Gillen & Magueritte Bennet
Starring: Angela (Aldrif), Sera, Malekith the Accursed, Thor, Odin, Freyja, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora, Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Heidall, Sif, The Warriors Three, Loki
Best for fans of high fantasy lesbians
4. Ultimates (2015) - 12 issues
Tumblr media
How high can sci-fi get before it loops back round to being fantasy? This is a book which walks that line - sci-fi so metaphysical it’s almost philosophy, except it’s not because it’s Superheroes in spandex fighting an all powerful being in the universe’s silliest hat.
Written by Al Ewing
Starring: America Chavez, Spectrum, Blue Marvel, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Galactus
Best for fans of high sci-fi
5. New Avengers (2015) - 18 issues
Tumblr media
If any comic deserved 6 season and a movie it’s this 2015 title. When Science Super-villains A.I.M run out of funds they decide to sell off the organisation. Former New Mutant Sunspot has a massive fortune, a desire to save the world, and a flair for the dramatic. It’s a match made in heaven. (Fans of the book don’t despair, it got a sequel in 2017′s U.S.Avengers).
Written by Al Ewing
Starring: Sunspot, Squirrel Girl, Wiccan, Hulkling, Power Man (Victor Alvarez), White Tiger, Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Songbird, Red Hulk, The Maker, POD, Iron Patriot (Toni Ho), Red Hulk (General Maverick), Canonball
Best for fans of comedy drama
6. Royals (2017) - 12 issues
Tumblr media
This is Al Ewing’s third appearance on this list, because he really is just that good a writer. This is the perfect introduction to the Inhumans, who are way more interesting than the TV show would have you believe. This is classic space opera - a warring family of royalty on an epic quest to save their dying race from certain extinction. I didn’t think I liked the Inhumans until I read this book.
Written by Al Ewing
Starring: Medusa, Maximus the Mad, Gorgon, Swain, Flint, Marvel Boy (Noh-Var), Ronan the Accuser
Best for fans of space-opera
7. Mockingbird (2016) - 8 issues
Tumblr media
If James Bond were an american woman with superpowers, actual human emotions and a chemistry degree, he’d be Mockingbird. Silly, heartfelt and deeply touching in places, this is one of my favourite short comics. Aided by her current boyfriend and his pet Corgi, SHIELD agent Bobbi Morse solves mysteries, fights bad guys and tries to clear her ex-husband’s name for a murder he really did commit.
Written by Chelsea Cain
Starring: Lance Hunter, Mockingbird
Best for fans of light-hearted spy stories and geeky jokes
8. Iceman (2017) - 11 issues
Tumblr media
I’m not going to lie, this comics was hard for me to read in places. Not because it’s bad, but because it’s good. Founding X-Man Iceman was outed as gay against his will in a controversial 2015 story. This comic follows him as he works out what his life looks like as a gay mutant, comes out to his parents, and kisses a boy for the first time. Well written and emotional, plus it’s always nice to see queer writers and artists working with queer characters. Warning that this comic deals with homophobia.
Written by Sina Grace
Starring: Iceman, Shadowcat, Daken, Oya, Hercules, Darkstar, Angel, Amp, Ghost Rider
Best for fans of drama
9. Hercules (2016) - 6 issues
Tumblr media
Hercules is a laughing stock in the hero world, better known for his drinking than his heroism (even though he’s 10 months sober). Gilgamesh hasn’t left Herlcules’ couch for a month. But when terrifying new gods emerge in the modern age, the old gods are the only ones who can stop them. Epic in the old sense of the word.
Written by Dan Abnett
Starring: Hercules, Tyresius, Gilgamesh, Ire of the Crua before the Ice
10. Black Bolt (2017) - 12 issues
Tumblr media
Black Bolt generated a lot of hype when issue 1 dropped last year, and it’s hardly surprising because this comic is something special. Betrayed by his brother, deposed monarch Black Bolt is locked away in the universe’s highest security prison. Depowered, trapped and tortured, he must rely on the help of his fellow prisoners to escape. If escape is even possible. Best read in tandem with Royals (above). Warning that the later part of this comic deals with past child neglect and emotional abuse.
Written by Saladin Ahmed
Starring: Black Bolt, Lockjaw, Absorbing Man, Metal Master, Blinky, Raava
Best for fans of emotional drama and prison break stories
