[Dialogue]
-
"Hey, Danny! Wanna play?"
"Sorry Youngblood. I can't play with you anymore, remember?"
"Oh, yeah. I forgot you grew up."
"Do you want me to sketch you again?"
"Nah, your memory is getting worse. I looked like a monkey in the last one. It sucked."
-
[If it isn’t clear, Danny can hear Youngblood, but not see him. The downside of losing his ghost powers post Phantom Planet.]

Day 3: Invisible
Do you ever think about the fact that the Fentons canonically do experiments on ghosts and Danny’s just… there?

Linktober day twelve- favourite game
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Skyward sword! My favourite game forever :)) The duets with Fi are by far my favourite gameplay aspect and recurring scenes in the game.
The music is The Ballad of the Goddess with Link's harp accompaniment. I played through on three different instruments like fifteen times, and checked every note on ocarina before I carved it. So. It's very accurate. Close ups of the music +my reference because yes

Also I replaced the treble clef with the triforce

THE GOLDFINCH (2019)
More than anything I was relieved that in my unfamiliar babbling-and-wanting-to-talk state I'd stopped myself from blurting the thing I'd never said, even though it was something we both knew well enough without me saying out loud to him in the street - which was, of course, I love you.

Too many artists who do commissions, in my experience, don't take their job seriously enough.
It's a meme how some artists take months to complete a comm and "haha im so grateful for having patient commissioners" but that's just poor work ethics on the artist's part.
When you offer commissions, you don't just offer art, you also have to communicate with your client properly, give them proper updates, ask them for feedback during process, discuss things that your ToS doesn't cover if needed, and so on.
Just for example, if you're taking longer than expected, let them know why (just vague "due to personal problems" is enough) and if needed, offer a refund or another alternative instead of making your commissioner reach out to you for updates themselves and possibly stressing them out.
Otherwise, you're treating your commissioner like a nuisance that you're forced to work with, not a client who offers you money in return for proper service.

Dannymay2024 Day 3: Invisible
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The words are part of a really good song called "Ghost Boy" by Chris Gatton. It's a really good music video and I think, fits Danny very well. I imagine he felt invisible as just Fenton. But now as Phantom, everyone sees him!
I actually made this awhile back last Dannymay for the free day and I figure it fits well with Day 3’s theme!
What do u think? I’d love to know💖

Sharing some more thoughts and memories from my trip to London last month. One of my favorite experiences was having Afternoon Tea at the Ritz, which turned out to be within walking distance of my hotel.
Because it was my first time to the UK, I knew I wanted to have Afternoon Tea at some point, and after watching Good Omens, there seemed to be no better (or more apropos) destination than the Ritz. I somehow managed to secure a reservation at the last minute and soon found myself sitting at a delightfully appointed table for one, watching and immersed in the atmosphere of the Palm Court.
All I could think of is how it is truly the perfect place to be in love, or to fall in love. The sumptuous food, the way the tables are set so that two people dining together are so cozily sitting next to each other, the piano music wafting through the air...all so charming, so affecting. It's as if the space envelops you entirely, and everything and everyone outside fades away, even just briefly.
It seems only too fitting for one particular angel and one particular demon, and in that moment, I felt as though I suddenly understood why Aziraphale enjoys it so much, and why Crowley enjoys watching Aziraphale enjoy it. The mood soon shifted from sweet to surreal when "House of the Rising Sun" started playing on the piano and I imagined the Husbands clinking glasses to the soulful strains of a song about a brothel. (Where is Mrs. Sandwich when you need her...)
The thing that I think meant the most to me is what I alluded to in a previous post, which is that even driving past the Ritz on my way in from Heathrow, I felt unexpectedly emotional. It was the idea of a place being special even though I'd never been there before, because it is special to these two characters who have meant so much to me over the last five years. And as I sat there sipping a glass of Champagne, I could feel them there with me--Aziraphale's animated indulgence, Crowley's affectionate smirk--and see them amongst the other couples having a romantic, resplendent, magical evening.
I couldn't help but smile as the music changed to "Part Of Your World" from The Little Mermaid, and how, for a brief moment at the Ritz, I was a part of Aziraphale and Crowley's world. To our world... (Pictures taken on 10/10/2024.)

In my professional life offline, I work with community development programs funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). One of the most important of these programs is the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, or “HOME” (not an acronym for some reason). In the last couple years, my office has contributed HOME funding to construction of around 400 new apartment units reserved for low-income families, plus conversion of a former hotel to single-resident occupancy units for people exiting homelessness and security deposit assistance for renters moving into market-rate units. I have a secondary role in the HOME program (most of my work is on a different grant, although I’ve contributed to the environmental reviews for all of our current round of projects), but I am immensely proud of what our team has done with a limited resource in a horrifically expensive housing market.
In 2023, House Republicans proposed cutting HUD’s 2024 budget for the HOME program by 67%, from $1.5 billion to $500 million.
Their proposal didn’t make it into the final bill. The President and Senate (under Democratic leadership) proposed HOME budgets of $1.8 billion and $1.5 billion, respectively. The final compromise budget allocated HUD $1.25 billion for the HOME program, a 17% cut which was passed down to every local HOME jurisdiction.
I’m glad the budget cuts weren’t worse. But what this means, in practical terms, is that one out of every six people we could have helped this year gets nothing. One out of every six people who would have received rent assistance is facing eviction. One out of every six people that would have received an affordable unit priced at 30% of their income has to keep giving 50% or more of their paycheck to market-rate landlords. We’re doing what we can with local resources, but there’s only so much you can do at the local level when federal funding goes away.
House Republicans are trying to reduce HOME funding to just $500 million again in 2025. So far, the Senate has rejected this, but barring a miracle upset, Democrats are almost certain to lose control of the Senate after next week’s election. If Republicans keep control of the House, and especially if they keep the House and win the Presidency, there is nothing stopping them from gutting housing programs completely.
I understand why people are frustrated with our choices this election. I am frustrated with our choices this election. But at the end of the day, I have a duty to my community. With Democrats in office, I can keep fulfilling that duty. With Republicans in office, I will lose the best tools I have to make a material difference to the vulnerable people who live around me. The people I serve will lose their housing, or they will lose their best path out of homelessness. There is no way around it.
Please, give me the tools to keep helping. Vote for Democrats up and down ballot, and once we’ve got them in office, thank them for doing what they do well and pressure the hell out of them to do better on the issues where they suck.
Because of gerrymandering (and geographic issues in general), control of the House will probably come down to just a few dozen races. I’m not endorsing any of these candidates on a personal level - some of them are probably good, some of them definitely suck - but they are the only bulwark we have against a party that wants to dismantle everything good about this country and lean into all the most shameful parts of our history. Every election matters, but if you live in one of these House districts, your vote is particularly important:

Day 3: Invisible
I made it a personal challenge to get one of these out everyday on the right day, so to do that I had to cut it a little short. I'll continue it at a later date when I have time but for now this all I got. Anyway here's the story:
Tw: Depressive thoughts
Sometimes being able to go invisible had its perks. Shocking, I know.
It wasn’t something Danny used often, though. He didn’t know why, but being invisible for too long made him feel worried that if he stayed like that for too long, he would be able to become visible again.
But right now, he doesn’t care about that. Right now, disappearing forever doesn’t feel like such a bad idea. Right now, he doesn’t care that people will miss him. Right now, he wouldn’t mind disappearing.
That’s why Danny was currently invisible on the roof of Casper High at 4 in the morning. It was exhausting staying awake from dusk to dawn with only 10ish minute naps during class as he watched his grades drop further and further. Not to mention, he still had to deal with bullies and detention.
And what did he get out of this? Maybe a little bit of praise? A break? A feeling that he was actually doing good for the place he called home?
Nothing.
He got nothing.
It was infuriating. He worked his ass off for a place that didn’t appreciate him. Why was he even still here if this is how he would be treated-
Skulker landed on the roof behind him. He stared at the space where Danny was with a concerned look, as if he could see him there.
“Welp… are you there?” He said cautiously, taking a hesitant step forward.
After a short mental debate on whether he should reveal himself, Danny let the invisibility fade before turning around and stepping toward him.
“How could you tell where I was? I thought even ghosts couldn't see other ghosts when they were invisible, or does your suit give you special vision or something?” He joked, trying to hide his emotions.
“Ghosts can feel other ghosts emotions.”
“What?”
“Some ghosts aren’t powerful enough to speak, even Ghost Speak,” Skulker explained, “so to communicate, they surround themselves with an aura of their emotions.”
“…”
“It is a very common form of communication in the Ghost Zone, as it helps signify intent and decreases miscommunication.”
“How come I haven’t been able to sense other ghost emotions?”
“Air doesn’t conduct emotions as well as ectoplasm does; however, when a ghost feels a large amount of emotion, it causes them to produce more ambient ectoplasm, which allows them to express their emotions better.”
“Oh,” the floor started looking very interesting to Danny.
“Come sit with me,” Skulker said as he sat down on the ledge of the roof.
Danny weighed his options: should he run or sit? If he sat, then he’d have to talk about his emotions with a person who'd said he wasn’t to skin Danny and use him as a rug. But if he ran, Skulker might chase after him to talk, or maybe he would escape, but what about the next time they’d meet?
Danny decided the path of least resistance was probably the best option, so he plopped down right next to Skulker and stared out at the town he knew so well as they began to talk.
